  1. Turn over to Philippians chapter 3.

    Philippians 3 chapter mention

  2. Philippians chapter 3. We're going to go from verses 12

    Philippians 3 chapter mention

  3. to 17. Don't know how long we'll go

  4. tonight. You know, I hope I can keep a

  5. little bit smaller since you stayed up all night.

  6. Don't want you to fall asleep on me, but in Philippians chapter

    Philippians 3:12–17

  7. 3, verse 12 through 17, Paul is the writer here speaking to the

  8. church. He says this.

  9. He said, not that I've already obtained it or have already

  10. become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that

  11. for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

  12. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet,

  13. but one thing I do forgetting what lies behind and reaching

  14. forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the

  15. prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  16. He said. Let us therefore, as any as are

  17. perfect, and we'll see this in another passage, another

  18. translation, have this attitude. And if and if in anything you

  19. have a different attitude, God will reveal this also to you.

  20. Verse 16. However, let us keep living by

  21. the same standard to which we have attained.

  22. Brethren, join and following my example and observe those who

  23. walk according to the pattern you have in US.

  24. And so here Paul is obviously writing to the church and he's

  25. giving them some really great insight concerning life.

  26. OK, this is not for the fivefold minister.

  27. This is for the believer and some fivefold ministries.

  28. Paul being within the office of the apostle, they that gift

  29. itself and we'll talk more about it this coming year is that they

  30. are always moving forward because they are trying to take

  31. territory and we'll define that at A at a later service.

  32. But Paul, although this is a part of his particular life, he

  33. lets us know in verse 17 that P that the brethren notice he

  34. said, brethren, he didn't say, now all those who are like me

  35. are, are just apostles. He says, brethren, join in

  36. following my example and observe those who walk according to the

  37. pattern there. So there's some things that he's

  38. doing that he's telling the church, you need to follow this

  39. example. OK, we need to follow this

  40. example. So let's go back up to the top

  41. verse 12 and let's kind of dissect a little bit this

  42. passage of Scripture and, and what he's saying is not not that

  43. I've already obtained it right, that I'm perfect, but I press on

  44. that I made laid hold of that which I've been laid hold of.

  45. Now the first challenge you're going to have if you're going to

  46. press on is that if you do not know why you were laid hold of,

  47. then you're not going to be able to be running in a way to lay

  48. hold of something. So Paul's running or his aim was

  49. based upon an apprehension. Amen.

  50. This is why Doctor Miles Monroe says it's more important to know

  51. why you were born than that you were born and you were not born

  52. so that you could find out about Jesus to be born again, so that

  53. you could just wait till you die to go to heaven.

  54. There is a reason why you are here.

  55. There is a purpose for every one of us, and we need to know why.

  56. What? Why God has apprehended.

  57. Why did God die on the cross and be raised from the dead and then

  58. called you into his family? Because they didn't call you in

  59. to retire. He didn't call you in to just,

  60. you know, hold on until you either die or he comes.

  61. There is a plan. And so Paul was apprehended.

  62. He was going a course of life himself.

  63. Then he encountered Jesus. And in that encounter his whole

  64. life was changed and his only pursuit was that which God had

  65. called him. And he would not let anyone stop

  66. him from accomplishing that task.

  67. So he's he's communicating, he said.

  68. Now listen, not that I've obtained it yet, not that I am

  69. perfect. And this word perfect here is,

  70. is actually an athletic term, and it means it.

  71. It's in context with a race. And it's not that because back

  72. in those days, he's using a term that was very clear to the

  73. culture that he was ministering to.

  74. He says you understand that when when you're in a race, the

  75. athletes all run, but not everyone wins.

  76. OK, So when you first get out of the gate, all the athletes have

  77. the ability to win the prize. So he said not that I've already

  78. obtained it or I have received the prize, which they all knew

  79. was this crown that was made out of leaves that they would put on

  80. the victor. And so everyone's running for

  81. the victor's crown, everyone. However, not everyone's going to

  82. get there. Later on he talks again about

  83. not that I've perfected because what happened same term, but

  84. once the athlete won, then the judge who would issue that

  85. reward would make an announcement that this is the

  86. perfect athlete because this one had reached perfect, it beat

  87. everyone else. So the declaration, this is the

  88. perfect athlete today and they are crowned with a crown and

  89. based upon certain athletic competitions and how well they

  90. did, the crowns would actually be adorned with different things

  91. based upon how well they did. Not all crowns were the same.

  92. OK, so Paul is saying, just like a natural man runs in a race to

  93. obtain a prize, I'm running because God has put me in a

  94. race. He has given me a life's

  95. assignment and I am running that race to win that race and not

  96. that I finished yet but there's but I am pressing towards that

  97. goal. OK 1st 13 he gives he again, he

  98. said brother. Not that I have regard myself as

  99. having laid hold of it yet, but one thing I do, I'm forgetting

  100. what lies behind and I'm reaching forward to what lies

  101. ahead. Are you hearing me?

  102. So what is Paul doing? Paul is giving us an indication.

  103. In order for you to move forward, you have to learn how

  104. to forget. There is no forward.

  105. If you cannot forget now isn't amazing.

  106. Sometimes you can get around some people that are like, man,

  107. I just can't remember, can't remember, but they can remember

  108. every wrong. They can remember every time you

  109. blew it, every time you messed up.

  110. You know, come on, husbands, you know how we are.

  111. We'll get it, honey, I forgot. But then we can like, let me

  112. tell you what you've been doing for the last five years Now.

  113. How can we keep that list? But we can't seem to keep, you

  114. know, our to our honey, do lists, so to speak.

  115. You know what I'm saying? I mean, it's amazing how we can

  116. retain certain information, but then there's other information.

  117. We, you know, expect people to give us a pass for our

  118. forgetting. Say Amen.

  119. Anyway, I know it's first of the year.

  120. This is really a positive message if you'll receive it

  121. that way. I'm going to fix your mind this

  122. year. OK.

  123. And so he said, now listen, this is what not that I've laid hold,

  124. but this is what I am doing. I am forgetting what lies

  125. behind. Now, when he says forget,

  126. there's a few things we need to understand about forgetting.

  127. Forgetting is that this is the obvious.

  128. We have to forget sin that you have to do.

  129. I mean, that's the the number one thing you have to do when it

  130. comes to forgetting. If you're going to continue to

  131. move forward, you're going to have to forget your past.

  132. You have to forget it because again, the day you said Jesus, I

  133. believe that you died on the cross and rose from the grave.

  134. You were born of the Virgin. You paid the price for my sin.

  135. I could not have done it on my own.

  136. I could never get you on my own. You are the sacrifice for me.

  137. I call you Lord of my life. I give you my life.

  138. I call you Lord, right? The Bible says when you call on

  139. the name of the Lord, you'll be saved.

  140. So then you pass from the domain of darkness into the Kingdom of

  141. His beloved Son. The spirit of the man that was

  142. dead is pulled out of your skin. Suit that spirit within you that

  143. ruled your mind and your body. They were all three in agreement

  144. and you were very good at sinning and rebelling against

  145. God. And God snatched the root

  146. problem out that you could not do yourself.

  147. I'm saying snatch the root problem.

  148. All of your excuses for wrongdoing is snatched out of

  149. your B. It has passed away, right?

  150. It's passed away. I don't know why we want to drag

  151. this dead thing around with us like it still has ownership with

  152. us. It is dead.

  153. It does not exist in us. Then He puts in us.

  154. We cross through the threshold, through the cross into the

  155. doorway of the Kingdom, and then we have a new spirit on the

  156. inside that's made in the likeness of God, and then the

  157. Holy Ghost himself moves inside. Our suit speaks to our spirit,

  158. that we can hear that conversation in our mind.

  159. Because when the Holy Spirit's talking to my spirit, it's not

  160. that my mind's not hearing it. I'm going to say that again.

  161. When the Holy Spirit is speaking to my spirit, it's in my mind

  162. that I'm hearing it. Hallelujah.

  163. Now again, we're going to kind of deal with these things this

  164. year because I have learned through observation and fruit

  165. examination, we can examine fruit that the body of Christ in

  166. a general sense has been Hanford.

  167. When we tree hug a subject, we hug on it.

  168. In fact, David and I were having a conversation concerning a

  169. thought that Brother Hagin made went towards the end of his life

  170. and he said if you do not teach the things of the Spirit to the

  171. next generation, then you'll lose a move of the Spirit within

  172. that generation. And sometimes because of

  173. teachers, they will explain a move of the Spirit as the move

  174. of the Spirit. And then a move that is

  175. predominantly around a ministry is communicated that that is a

  176. manifestation or the manifestation.

  177. So then it implies if that's not happening, then he's not moving,

  178. but it's a manifestation. It's not the only manifestation

  179. and what has happened is the church, which is why we wrote

  180. the book for the force, is that the church is kind of at large

  181. lost big picture and become really good at funneling in.

  182. And you understand a lot of times this is only happening

  183. because these spirits, that's why we talked about reigning

  184. spirit last year, are in the earth.

  185. David, would you stand up? David, how old are you?

  186. You don't mind me using your age, right?

  187. OK. How old are you?

  188. OK, David, you're 68 year old. When you were young and went to

  189. a doctor back then the doctors knew really everything and

  190. treated you for anything in your body, correct?

  191. OK. But then all of a sudden,

  192. because we are so educated and we needed more colleges that

  193. doctors instead of doing being a General practitioner, that when

  194. he would go to doctor, if your throat, foot, whatever, they

  195. could take care of your whole body.

  196. Thank you, Dave. You'd be seated today if you got

  197. a problem with your foot. What are they called?

  198. A specialist, right. You're giving me the literal

  199. name. Thank you.

  200. Thank you. That was really good.

  201. I mean, you, you're a teacher at Washington.

  202. I expect you to know these things.

  203. So you got the foot doctor, you got the hand doctor, you have

  204. the eye doctor. Now, here's the thing.

  205. You can have something going on in that very specific area, but

  206. the reason you're having it in that area could be another

  207. reason. Now, a lot of times, what are

  208. those doctors do if they begin to realize, I perceive that

  209. what's hurting in you is not where the source is, So what do

  210. they do? They send you to another.

  211. So you can't get taken care of in one location because that's

  212. not my field of expertise. So because, and again, in the

  213. spirit of the world, it is to kind of keep things hidden.

  214. So then you train yourself to only know certain truths, but

  215. when you only know certain aspects, you're already at a

  216. disadvantage of other things. And so one area that the the

  217. body has been challenged and, and Brother Hagin did a

  218. phenomenal job in communicating and in practice, but it didn't

  219. always, it did not translate through.

  220. And there's one gift within the fivefold ministry that has to do

  221. this the most, which is why God always intended the body, the

  222. church, to have all 5 fivefold ministers.

  223. He never intended for a church to have one.

  224. I'm going to say that again. He never intended that a local

  225. church would only have one ministry gift because if a

  226. church has the ministry gift of pastor teacher then it's highly

  227. probable that they will become specialized ministers and lose

  228. big picture. I mean, the chances are 99% is

  229. high because they're gifted to go line upon line.

  230. They get so focused on a subject and they can tear that down that

  231. they can lose how it's actually placed within the context.

  232. Now as an apostle, big picture, I mean, the the majority of

  233. messages I preach are on a big picture context.

  234. But guess what? We have teachers here that I can

  235. say what subject you what, what do you want me to minister, you

  236. know, minister on this or a minute.

  237. And man, they get up here and they go line upon line preset.

  238. But they have they have me apostatically keeping big

  239. picture so that they don't get so funneled that they lose

  240. perspective. Because the only way you can

  241. come up with doctrines that aren't accurate is because you

  242. stay focused in very specific areas.

  243. And look it in that vein only because I could bring people up

  244. here who could minister on the subject of grace correctly,

  245. concerning you've done nothing to deserve this.

  246. And that would be truth. But then they would carry that

  247. over into your life as a believer, that now we're getting

  248. off because the saving grace, since it's multifaceted, it's

  249. not one-dimensional anyway. The saving grace that is

  250. unmerited to for you is appropriated to you through

  251. faith. And that once you're born again,

  252. you receive the grace Jesus had, which was not unmerited favor.

  253. Because what in the world did Jesus do on planet earth that he

  254. didn't deserve the grace he had? So that definition of for grace

  255. doesn't work across the board because Jesus was full of grace.

  256. And if we only define grace as God's power on you that you did

  257. not deserve, Jesus was a man without sin.

  258. He deserves everything. Well, the grace Jesus had is

  259. called empowering grace. You know what's awesome about

  260. empowering grace? Empowering grace is the ability

  261. to resist temptation so that when you're tempted to sin like

  262. Jesus was, he was tempted on all accounts, like we were, yet

  263. without sin. But if you are taught only that

  264. the first grace you received and it is true saving grace which is

  265. unmerited favorite, you did not deserve this.

  266. What you deserve was to be justly judged and thrown into

  267. the lake of fire, which is a second death.

  268. That's what you deserve. But God being rich in not love,

  269. mercy, He extended this unmerited favor towards you that

  270. when you acted on it, it you received it, that then once the

  271. Holy Ghost comes in, he said, now I got another grace for your

  272. life because you've been redeemed now from the law of sin

  273. and death. And I'm going to give you the

  274. same grace Jesus had so that every time temptation comes no

  275. longer. Do you think I can you know, if

  276. I mess up, if I, I couldn't do nothing to get in, I can't do

  277. nothing to stay. Oh, you can do you do stuff to

  278. stay because you can do stuff to get out.

  279. However, same thing works. Works is a word that you can

  280. teach in a vein that it is absolutely true.

  281. It is not of your own works. You telling God what I'm doing

  282. is acceptable and you need to accept what I'm calling good and

  283. you need to accept me. Well, that's those works don't

  284. work and you can stay in that vein so much that then you you

  285. hear people all they're they're talking works.

  286. And every time those people say that oh, works, that's a bad

  287. word. Well, this is problem because

  288. Jesus said that he did the work of the Father.

  289. He's doing some kind of work. Then he ends up telling Paul in

  290. the book of Ephesians when he talks about it's not of any

  291. works, lest any man should boast.

  292. It's by grace through faith. The next verse says that you

  293. were saved for good. Well, this is problem because

  294. I'm not supposed to work. If I say works, then I'm saying

  295. I'm of the law. No, we're not saying that.

  296. We're saying we have a work of faith.

  297. But again, if you don't maintain big picture, then you get

  298. isolated. Same thing happens with spirit,

  299. soul and body. But Brother Hagin used to say

  300. when it came to the gifts of Spirit, he says, now I'm

  301. separating these for the sake of teaching.

  302. And his implication was they are not to be separated, nor to

  303. covet just one, nor to teach just one because of what one

  304. produces. So you were never just supposed

  305. to love the power gifts of the Holy Ghost more than the

  306. utterance. And neither were you to say, oh

  307. man, I just wish we could see miracles.

  308. And then someone has a tongue and someone interprets it and we

  309. walk away like God didn't move 'cause we didn't see an arm grow

  310. out. Hallelujah.

  311. And again, in the context of, of, of, of traditional thought,

  312. you know, I love the services where the Holy Ghost comes down

  313. and, and we get into laughter and we get into dancing and we

  314. get into running. And then inevitably someone

  315. says, ma'am, we had, we had church today.

  316. The Holy Ghost fell. Well, the Holy Ghost didn't fall

  317. when we did the teaching of the word and he revealed the truth

  318. to you because you couldn't have a truth revealed unless the Holy

  319. Ghost did that, which means he moved in the revealing of truth

  320. just as much as he moved. And someone yielding and dancing

  321. and one is not more powerful than the other, but the carnal

  322. man and those that get in very strict, you know, things miss

  323. these. All right, so we I said all that

  324. because Paul says I need to press on to this higher calling.

  325. And the thing we have to forget is sin.

  326. And sin is everything we did prior to coming in, which means

  327. that man's dead. We need to forget that and quit

  328. going back to that or referring to it as if we cannot move

  329. forward. And here's the thing, your past

  330. has a voice. It's the one in your head and

  331. then your acquaintances from your past.

  332. I remember going to one of my high school reunions.

  333. I think it was 20 or 30 years. I can't remember now.

  334. Maybe the 20 year ones. Probably the last one I went to

  335. 20 years, you know, and you show up and they're talking to you

  336. like we were at school yesterday.

  337. Now I kind of looked like I was there, except bigger, healthier.

  338. I had as the cheese at commercial.

  339. I had aged you well because I looked at some of my friends.

  340. I'm like, thank you, Jesus. Well, I know what half of it

  341. happened, you know, because they were having all kinds of sins,

  342. one substances that they were putting in their body and it was

  343. really breaking down their flesh faster than mine was, right?

  344. The glory is good. God keeps you good looking,

  345. right? I mean at least age as you will,

  346. right? Amen and so, but anyway, I mean

  347. they would talk to you then they would even treat me.

  348. I mean, I took my wife OK and again, I wasn't living for the

  349. Lord in high school. I know that all right and I'm

  350. not here to relish because I forget my past, but I was senior

  351. class biggest flirt. That is a true statement and the

  352. girl who was the senior plat class biggest flirt was at the

  353. 20 year reunion. Now she was already 3 sheets to

  354. the wind. Y'all know what that expression

  355. is? That's pretty old expression.

  356. She was tipsy. She was drunk, as you supposed,

  357. right in the parking lot, which made her bold.

  358. OK, Well, she came over to me in front of my wife and touched my

  359. chest. Now, in high school, that was

  360. permissible. You understand?

  361. I'm not happy about that. I am delivered.

  362. Hallelujah. But yet she was like we were.

  363. We were coming to school for a football game.

  364. Then I would have been on the field anyway.

  365. With that being said, you know, my wife's kind of like, you

  366. know, and you just kind of keep navigating.

  367. You just kind of keep moving, right?

  368. But you have to forget your past.

  369. It's it's obvious that they can't.

  370. And it was crazy. Those girls would get around my

  371. wife. And you know what they it's, it

  372. was they had to, they had to tell her about me in high

  373. school. They couldn't say, well, how's

  374. everything been? What are you and Earl doing now?

  375. Do y'all have any kids? Grandkids, which would have been

  376. shocking to them anyway. And it was when I said I had,

  377. but you understand, But no past. But I forgot that I've let that

  378. go, OK, I have forgot that I have forgotten it.

  379. It is not what I'm doing. And I'm going on the second

  380. thing that Paul says that we need to forget.

  381. Let me read this scripture before I give you the next thing

  382. that you have to forget. And that is in Luke Chapter 9,

    Luke 9:62

  383. verse 62, it says, but Jesus said to him, to him, no one

  384. after putting his hand to the plow and looking back as fit for

  385. the Kingdom of God, OK, no one. So you have to forget your past.

  386. You've been redeemed. Don't equate yourself as a

  387. Sinner and going into 2025, you can't go back to 2020.

  388. Don't go back into 2024 and say, man, I really made a mess last

  389. year. It's gone.

  390. Yeah, it's gone. And if you want to go forward in

  391. this new year, then let's forget it now.

  392. Forgetting doesn't work without repentance when it comes to sin

  393. because your sin will surely find you out.

  394. So you cannot say I just forget that I just sinned.

  395. No, cuz sin will be like you can forget but here I am and you did

  396. it again. So here's my buddy and he did it

  397. again and here's my next buddy and here it again.

  398. We've got a whole family here with you because you know none

  399. of this is under the blood and we're following you around

  400. because you have created sin. You've done the sin and

  401. eventually we have a paycheck we're going to bring to a area

  402. of your life. It's called death.

  403. So forgetting sin means you repented and now you're

  404. authorized to forget it. The Lord says, listen, I removed

  405. your sin as far as the east is from the West, which means I've

  406. forgotten about it. One of the most powerful

  407. statements that he says in his love session of teaching in

  408. First Corinthians chapter 13 is that love does not take an

    1 Corinthians 13 chapter mention

  409. account a suffered wrong because once it's under the blood, it

  410. doesn't exist. Amen.

  411. So we have to forget our sins, and then we also have to forget

  412. the sins of those who have done something to us.

  413. You have to forget that now a person can have done something

  414. to you. They've not asked you to forgive

  415. them, but you're already forgiven them.

  416. You're just waiting to release it.

  417. Do you understand that? Because this is a concept that

  418. is not everyone understands. Jesus Christ has paid the price

  419. once and for all. Jesus has literally forgiven

  420. everyone's sin. You know who's sin He has

  421. forgiven? The rich man written by Jesus

  422. who was not in Abraham's bosom or paradise, but was eternally

  423. waiting for eternal judgment or eternal damnation for Abraham,

  424. said there's a gulf fix between us, you can't come here, we

  425. can't go there. And he was already in a place of

  426. torment. But it's not, it's not complete

  427. in the torment because there is a later judgment to come that

  428. then he will be cast into the lake of fire, which is the

  429. second death. Yet he has been forgiven.

  430. If he's been forgiven, how could he go to the lake of fire

  431. because he never received what he has already been forgiven

  432. for. So when someone does you wrong,

  433. you need to forgive. But them coming to you and

  434. asking you to forgive them is when you can release it.

  435. This is very important because again, the relationship will

  436. never be restored. OK, the relationship will never

  437. be restored until they do the repentance.

  438. Jesus has already forgiven mankind, but the relationship

  439. cannot be restored till they ask for His forgiveness through

  440. repentance. So in the natural, the Bible

  441. says we need to forgive one another, right?

  442. And again, I'll forgive you, I'll forgive you no problem.

  443. But I cannot give you the forgiveness that is already

  444. stored up for you if you do not come and ask for it.

  445. And when you do, it's like, man, I am so excited that this day

  446. has come, which means if I'm engaging you and you're not

  447. asking, you've not received my forgiveness.

  448. Even though I have forgiven you, we still have an issue.

  449. Do you see that? Because Jesus is engaging the

  450. world and he still has an issue in the relationship.

  451. Although for him, he's like, I've already forgiven you.

  452. All you got to do is ask. And you know what?

  453. He's kind to them, but the relationship's not restored.

  454. Why is he kind to him? Because the kindness of God

  455. draws men to. So an act of kindness in a

  456. relationship with someone doesn't mean the relationship's

  457. restored. It's only in restoration when

  458. both parties, which in Jesus case obviously he didn't have

  459. to, but if it is a both party or one party needs to ask for that

  460. forgiveness that the other one is not going to withhold.

  461. If they're living like God, they're really just waiting for

  462. the day for this relationship to be completely restored.

  463. Are you hearing me? So we have to forgive our own

  464. failures. We have to forget what people

  465. have done to us. Walk in love.

  466. I do not take an account of suffer wrong.

  467. I am. I have already forgiven.

  468. And I'm ready to release that forgiveness once they repent.

  469. And I'll be kind to them, talk to them.

  470. They would think that I'm already there.

  471. But until that happens, it's not there.

  472. OK. Hey, ma'am.

  473. So but then the next thing concerning forgetting is this.

  474. We have to forget the good, the accomplishments.

  475. When I was studying today, my thoughts went to, oh, I'm going

  476. to use Sarah, you know, because if there's anything you can

  477. remember, let's just remember. And then it hit me.

  478. She's looking at faithfulness. She's still not looking at past.

  479. These are trophies. Basically, they are memorials of

  480. the faithfulness of His Word, the faithfulness of His word,

  481. the faithfulness of His word. She's not looking back at the

  482. good she has done being in faith.

  483. The reason he says it this way is because as a runner, if we

  484. have a 26.2 mile marathon and we get to mile 25, we could stop

  485. with 1.2 miles left and go, man, look what I have done.

  486. This is awesome. I've got 25.

  487. I'm like at record pay speed. Let me just stop here for a

  488. moment and think about. Let me just look back.

  489. Look at all those runners way back there and if you just stop

  490. and meditate and stay there, then the next racer is going to

  491. come and pass you by. Are you hearing what I'm saying?

  492. Paul is saying, listen, even what I've accomplished, I'm

  493. forgetting and moving now. That doesn't mean I don't.

  494. I've taken account God's faithfulness.

  495. These are these are trophies that I have on my shelf that

  496. shows that when I did God's word, God calls his word to come

  497. to pass. So this next thing I'm in right

  498. now with God, no problem because I have evidence that he's always

  499. come through. No issue here, but I'm not going

  500. to stop. I am moving.

  501. I am always in a forward process.

  502. I would even say it this way when the Bible says when you've

  503. done all to stand, this is this is what you're standing looks

  504. like it it is a you may have fought, you're fighting and you

  505. don't know where else to go. And he said, look, and you

  506. should fight the good fight of faith.

  507. When you've done all the stands stand.

  508. Obviously he's saying the devil and you've got some challenge

  509. and it seemed like you're not making progress, but you

  510. understand and you're being beat against, but you're standing,

  511. you're standing your ground. You're not giving up ground, but

  512. that standing is with a lien because at some point I'm going

  513. to be stepping forward again because I'm not retreating.

  514. I'm not pulling back. Are you hearing me?

  515. With that being said, look at here in Hebrews, Hebrews chapter

    Hebrews 10 chapter mention

  516. 10 verses 3839, it says But my righteous one shall live by and

  517. if he shrinks back my soul has no pleasure in him.

  518. He said, but we are not of those who shrink back to destruction,

  519. but of those who have faith to the preserving of our soul.

  520. Now this scripture is not just saying that you don't shrink

  521. back to worldliness. This is not just worldliness

  522. because the Bible says the just shall live by and we go from

  523. faith to and I got this revelation honestly guys, just a

  524. few years ago, just a few years ago, because I had been pretty

  525. motivated by a particular prophetic word that was given to

  526. us. But within six months of

  527. starting Anchor Faith Church, that I needed to strike the

  528. ground. And when that word came through

  529. tongues and interpretation of tongues concerning Anchor Faith

  530. Church as a ministry saying just keep striking the ground, the

  531. Lord took me to where the prophet said strike the ground

  532. concerning destroying the enemy. And they struck it three times.

  533. And the prophet got really mad and said, man, if you'd have

  534. done it like six or seven times, you would have routed your enemy

  535. completely. But because you stopped at

  536. three, you're only going to defeat them three times and then

  537. they're going to be a problem for you, right?

  538. And I thought, and I knew what the prophecy was about, about

  539. faith, about moving forward. And I was, I mean, you hit one

  540. project and that thing's coming, come really out of completion.

  541. Boom, you're into the next one. I'm like, strike the next one.

  542. What else? God, what do you want me to

  543. believe for God? Come on, what's the next one?

  544. And I want to go stop at three. I want I never stopped and said,

  545. OK, well, this is cool. Let's just kind of rest here for

  546. a little bit, man. We've been like believing God

  547. for a lot. Let's just don't believe God for

  548. nothing. No we were like boom boom boom.

  549. Then it hit me about 3 years ago, maybe 4 at Max.

  550. I'm reading we go from faith to faith and then the Lord says

  551. what is faith? I said well now faith is calling

  552. those things that be not as though they were.

  553. He said. Notice I said you go from faith

  554. to faith, which means before you leave one faith and see it,

  555. 'cause once you see it, it's not faith.

  556. Faith is calling those things that be not as though they were.

  557. That's faith. So before you actually see the

  558. completion of what you're believing for, you need to start

  559. believing for something you don't see so that when that

  560. one's done, you're in, you're already in another that then you

  561. go to another one and you don't get to 1 because there's a thing

  562. that happens in the church. Well, we don't want to wear the

  563. people out. We're not wearing you out.

  564. We're doing scripture because when you're in faith, you're

  565. actually at rest because you're resting in God.

  566. Now there's a fight. Yes, I get it.

  567. There is a fight. But you know, if you've been

  568. around some champions, like watch Muhammad Ali and he got

  569. around, you know, you know, he was in a fight, but he was like.

  570. This is easy. And he would mock them.

  571. I mean, it's not like he didn't get a few hits, but when they

  572. hit, he was like, oh, there ain't no power in that punch.

  573. And instead of just taking the he would play with the enemy, he

  574. would dance, which you know, and his saying and he would dance

  575. around and dance around and then he would boom, boom.

  576. I mean, I believe he was intentional to not take him out

  577. immediately, unlike Mike Tyson, you know, he'd like you're down

  578. 3 seconds, OK, next fighter. But he would go out, he would

  579. play around. He would hit just enough.

  580. Keep on your feet. Hold on, let's do a good show

  581. now, right? I mean, get the people here are

  582. watching. But he never had a doubt in his

  583. mind he was going to lose, especially after the first

  584. couple of punches from his opponent.

  585. And you understand, there's some things in faith.

  586. We're like, man, we got this thing right.

  587. You're at such rest. Even in the middle of the fight.

  588. Now there are some faith projects that you feel the

  589. strain. I get it, Which then the enemy

  590. says you ought to take a break. Well, He wants you to take a

  591. break because every time you get what you've been believing for,

  592. you keep tearing down his gates. You're taking over his

  593. territory, that which he received from Adam, that

  594. dominion and all that was associated with it and he's been

  595. robbing us from. He doesn't want you to get up in

  596. there because if you'll take a good enough rest and have

  597. nothing to believe God for where God's constantly showing himself

  598. faithful, then he can get into your mind and try to why don't

  599. you just do it the world's way and it can happen that way.

  600. So again, we don't shrink back, which means we stay even in

  601. faith. So let's go back to verse 15

  602. real quick again, verse 14 and 15 of Philippians 3.

  603. He says as I press on towards the goal for the prize of the

  604. upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  605. So again, someone who knows why they are born and wants to

  606. please, please. Because the Bible says without

  607. faith it's impossible to. This is not whether God loves me

  608. or not. God loves me and I'm not trying

  609. to to find out what he loved me more.

  610. No, I want to be pleasing to him because the Scripture says I can

  611. be displeasing to Him because faith is what pleases Him.

  612. And so I always want to be a pleasure to my Father.

  613. So what is your word telling me to do?

  614. I want to act on that word. I want to be in faith in that

  615. word. And I want to press on to the

  616. next thing that you've laid hold of me.

  617. What else do you need me to do? What else do I need to believe

  618. God for? What else do I need to keep

  619. pressing on? And he says I press.

  620. Now, what's so cool about that? Is that in my weakness?

  621. Oh, this is what's amazing. There are times in the battle of

  622. faith that, man, I am extremely strong because you just got a

  623. word. Oh my gosh, I got a word.

  624. We can do this. Well, through faith and

  625. patience, you inherit. So it's in the patience part

  626. that weariness and fainting and fainting can show up.

  627. But even in my weakness, he'll make me strong as long as I do

  628. not abandon and I keep pressing. And for anyone who's done a

  629. natural race, you know, you're like, just keep moving.

  630. Just and you just keep the thing moving, right, Brittany?

  631. We're like, just keep moving. Brittany's fast.

  632. I remember the first gate river run we ran.

  633. She was in a she was in a more elite class.

  634. They ran faster. You know, I said which one?

  635. Oh, I'm up in this group. Oh, I guess I picked the wrong

  636. one. But in my mind, I thought, I'll

  637. run her down. No, number one, she's taller

  638. than I am. Her legs are double the my

  639. length. She takes one step and I'm 2.

  640. So here's Brittany, you know, because she has long legs.

  641. Boom, boom. And I look like this.

  642. Yeah, that's me. Like I'm going to get Brittany.

  643. She's like, where you at? Like a gazelle.

  644. Just go. There she goes.

  645. And I'm like, I never saw you. You know, she's like, where

  646. you've been. I've been here for an hour.

  647. OK. But we press on because there's

  648. something in front of us again. People who do not press have

  649. lost sight of the goal. If you don't press, that just

  650. tells me you've lost sight of the goal.

  651. And if you're telling, why are you working so hard?

  652. Why are you pushing so much? Why you keep doing this?

  653. I don't want to talk to people like that because I'm like,

  654. you've lost the goal. You've lost it because when you

  655. know what you're in. And here's the thing.

  656. I mean, we only have so much time in this skin suit.

  657. There is a time that's going to be different.

  658. I'm not going to tell you it's a time that it is mythical

  659. thinking. We're with the Lord.

  660. Oh, here's our nice little hammock and the angels are

  661. coming by with coconut drinks. You know, they're ministering

  662. spirits. They are bringing us our stuff

  663. and the angels are massaging our glorified bodies, right?

  664. And the Lord comes by and the cool of the day and says, you

  665. enjoying your relaxation? You know, do you want to put a

  666. little saxophone on right now? You know, so you feel chilled.

  667. I'll get a little breeze to come through, you know, for all

  668. eternity. We are just like on vacation.

  669. Hallelujah. I think sometimes people think

  670. that, but we press on. But look at verse 15.

  671. I'm going to read it out of the Berean standard Bible.

  672. Verse 15 says this. Let all of us who are mature

  673. should embrace this point of view.

  674. And if you think differently about some issue, God will

  675. reveal this to you. Also, one translation says if

  676. you think different about pressing, God will reveal to

  677. you, you need to press. So in essence, he's not saying

  678. if you think different than how I do it, and that's OK.

  679. He's saying God's going to tell you that what I'm saying is what

  680. you should be doing. Hallelujah.

  681. Now we're watching. Anybody got the latest on the

  682. Ohio State Oregon game? Because man, it was like 34 to

  683. nothing at halftime. I mean, Ohio states, like just

  684. trouncing them. It's like, where you at, right,

  685. Pastor Mike? You pull up on ESPN, you catch

  686. the phone. 4121 No, it's not. It was 34 to nothing. 4141 OK, I

  687. thought you said 2121 Like, how can they have gone backwards?

  688. Did they forget they made touchdowns?

  689. 4121 OK, All right, so there's a goal.

  690. Now you understand a coach has a goal and they are telling the

  691. players. It's amazing that any

  692. organization allows the leader to put pressure on the team to

  693. accomplish a goal. We see it in business with

  694. managers because again, what's the reward?

  695. You get a bonus or whatever. They let you know what we're

  696. going to do. This is what happens.

  697. We get here. We need to make it happen.

  698. And man, we sell all out. They sell out in politics.

  699. If you want to win an office, man, you are.

  700. You're pressing. I mean, you're door knocking.

  701. You're you're, you're, I mean, you're all that because this is

  702. the season because after the day that we vote, if you didn't make

  703. it and they're like, we're pushing to the finish.

  704. Didn't we hear this during the president?

  705. We're pushing all the way up to the finish line, which means all

  706. the ones running the, the, the, the campaigns we're pushing,

  707. calling, telling them, man, we hardly slap.

  708. You know what? Because they wanted their

  709. candidate to win, they let them talk to them that way.

  710. These people right now, the coaches are saying you're going

  711. to do this. I mean, I was shocked at the

  712. Arizona State. I mean, they were getting beat

  713. down by Texas. And next thing you know, we're

  714. in overtime. Is this actually happening right

  715. now? Which means the coach did

  716. something that says we're not out of it yet.

  717. Nobody, everybody thinks we're a Cinderella team anyway.

  718. Got them sold on this idea and these guys are pressing.

  719. No players like you're on the sideline, you're not out here

  720. tackling. But when it comes to the church

  721. in the past, like let's keep moving.

  722. Well, who's he think he is talking to us like that.

  723. Why is this the only organization that we have this

  724. much conflict? I mean, I know why and I'll tell

  725. you why. And then I'm going to train you

  726. how to overcome that because we're going to overcome that in

  727. 2025. We will overcome that because I

  728. know what it looks like. I know exactly what it looks

  729. like to overcome because the minute it happens, if they do

  730. not press, they do not stay. And you don't want an athlete on

  731. your team that's dragging around trade on coach.

  732. They they're not doing any good anyway.

  733. In fact, John said, look, if they go, they weren't for you

  734. anyway. They weren't with you anyway.

  735. Are you hearing me? And Paul's like, look, we got to

  736. push press on. But like he says this, he said,

  737. now, if you've come to maturity, you need to embrace this point

  738. of view. So when you reach spiritual

  739. maturity, you're like, my whole life exists to accomplish why he

  740. saved me. And I'm going to get around

  741. people who that's their only goal.

  742. I mean, who wants to be around the team?

  743. Well, all we got is a bunch of two stars in here.

  744. We never win. Well, let's see what we can do

  745. at this game. We're probably going to lose,

  746. but let's try something. Who wants to be in that kind of

  747. culture? Who wants to play for that kind

  748. of team? I mean, even the, you know, they

  749. always do the David and Goliath analogy, which is always wrong

  750. because Goliath always was going to lose.

  751. But David, you know, this is the little team and can they do this

  752. and how can they pull this off? I mean, that's what it sounded

  753. like when they when Boise State was playing Penn State.

  754. Well, you know, if they don't do that, how can they even pull?

  755. And they their talk, but those guys on the field were not

  756. convinced until it's over, it's not over.

  757. And it was obviously that would Arizona State today because they

  758. got them into overtime. But you understand they're not

  759. in the locker. They are saying, you know what,

  760. we had a great season. We are, you know, Big 12

  761. champions. But at the end of the day,

  762. everyone in the locker room is not excited because the goal

  763. wasn't met. Now, a few days later, they'll

  764. be rejoicing in the championship they did have.

  765. But they'll live the rest of their lives knowing the rest of

  766. their lives, knowing the rest of their lives knowing, just like

  767. I've lived the rest of my life knowing that in the state

  768. semifinals, we got beat in a rodeo arena.

  769. The football field was inside a rodeo arena, and they let out

  770. the bulls and trampled us. And I live without forever

  771. because honestly, I wanted to win a state champion.

  772. Who doesn't, right? Ask my grandson, Asher.

  773. He went to the state championship game this year and

  774. was ahead by a couple of touchdown, maybe even 3, and

  775. lost. So when you're mature, you're

  776. like man, there's no other viewpoint and an essay says

  777. God's going to reveal to you that you need to mature up to

  778. apprehend while He's saved you in the 1st place.

  779. Amen. So let me give you these three

  780. more scriptures and we'll be out.

  781. Second Corinthians chapter 4, verse 1718.

    2 Corinthians 4 chapter mention

  782. We'll be pretty quick. He says this for, you know this

  783. one for momentary light affliction is producing for us

  784. an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison.

  785. Listen guys, I cannot tell you how many times I've been around

  786. certain people. At times they're like, how come

  787. you're never content? I mean y'all got them all.

  788. What? Why do you keep pushing?

  789. OK, first of all, I am content with what I have, but I press on

  790. to what God wants. And it's not that I'm never

  791. satisfied. I'm satisfied when I wake up in

  792. the morning and breathe and praise my King.

  793. I'm full of satisfaction. But He has saved me for a reason

  794. and I was never to do it alone. So I rally those that were

  795. assigned to do the change. That's what we do, but for

  796. momentary light, affliction is producing for us an eternal

  797. weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at

  798. the things that are what seen, but the things that are not

  799. seen. For the things that are seen are

  800. temporary. That's why I don't get bogged

  801. down in the world. But the things which are for the

  802. things that are not seen are eternal.

  803. My eyes are already fixed on the eternal Kingdom, the rewards

  804. associated with it, and that's what I drive after.

  805. I do not have time to stop and determine how comfortable my

  806. life should be in the planet because my life is the best it

  807. could ever be. Because I'm known by the King.

  808. I have arrived and so have you. Your daddy owns the planet.

  809. A bigger house is not going to give you contentment or

  810. satisfaction or, you know, feel. I mean, unless you have selfish

  811. ambitions, those things will. But for those who know who they

  812. are in Christ, then at the end of the day, the day that you're

  813. in Christ, you're so excited and you're just excited.

  814. God, whatever you want me to do, because whatever you want me to

  815. do, the provision is already there for me to do it.

  816. All I got to do is obtain it by faith.

  817. I'm just the happiest guy in the world because I'm the wealthiest

  818. guy in the world because my daddy owns the planet just like

  819. you are. Amen.

  820. But we do not obtain, he said. I've given you the power to get

  821. wealth. And again, wealth is not for

  822. your own personal accumulation. It's wealth for you to

  823. accomplish the provision or the purpose that God's assigned you.

  824. And a lot if you were really wealthy, you would be trying to

  825. figure out how to give your wealth to other people.

  826. So because of this, I had this thought.

  827. Trials are the trails to triumph.

  828. Trials are just the trails to triumph.

  829. Adversary is the asphalt to advancement.

  830. So when adversity comes, thank you for paving my way to

  831. advance. Hallelujah, because this is a

  832. momentary light affliction, 'cause compress means you're

  833. having to go through something. You got to go through your own

  834. personal challenges and do not let them hinder you.

  835. So you got to do self examination all the while and

  836. while you're running, you understand you cannot start a

  837. race without refueling, especially if it's a long one.

  838. And this is a long one. It's your lifetime, which means

  839. you have to refuel. You have to know when to go

  840. along the way and stop and refuel to continue on.

  841. So you're always doing your own personal examination while

  842. you're pressing. And you're like, you know what?

  843. I'm going to get to that mark and I'm going to refuel there,

  844. but I'm pressing to that place to refuel so I can continue to

  845. press on. The reason I refuel is to move

  846. on. So you do personal examination,

  847. but you also press on because there are trials, there are

  848. adversities. You cannot be an overcomer

  849. unless there's something to overcome.

  850. All right? So trials are the trails to

  851. triumph, and adversity is the asphalt to advancement.

  852. And when you do this, then these last two verses is your life

  853. revelation. This is 2025.

  854. Let this be 2025 for us. He who overcomes, I will grant

  855. to Him to sit down with me on my throne as I also overcame and

  856. sat down with my Father on His throne.

  857. Thrones are in kingdoms, not religions.

  858. So I'm telling you right now, I do not get bogged down on

  859. worldly success or or or or accolades.

  860. I'm only focused on the seat assigned to me for eternity.

  861. And so I got a press and while I'm running, there's people from

  862. the crowd that are not even in the race telling me I won't make

  863. it. And they're telling you you

  864. won't make it, but it's 2025. You going to make this thing.

  865. You going to make it all the way to the end because God is giving

  866. you his Spirit and greater is that spirit in you than the one

  867. that's in the world. We're going to finish this

  868. course. Why?

  869. Because we're going to overcome. And he said, now if you

  870. overcome, you going to sit right down here on my throne, me Whoa,

  871. glory to God, Amen. And then it if it is that within

  872. our lifetime that the Lord is coming and most likely is, then

  873. your throne is about to be revealed.

  874. So press because the finish line is upon us.

  875. The last scripture is this Paul said this in second Timothy 487

  876. and eight concerning his own life.

  877. He said I have fought the good fight.

  878. I have one translation said fully completed, fully

  879. completed. Do you know you can finish a

  880. race but not finish the course? You can start a race and finish

  881. a race but not complete the course.

  882. It's a 10K. You start a 10K, it is a race

  883. that you're in and at 8K you stop the next day that race

  884. isn't there so you can't go back to the race.

  885. You started a race, you finished a race, but you didn't finish

  886. the course. You left 2 kilometers on the

  887. table. 2 kilometers do not allow you.

  888. You have the number, you have the time, you have the reward

  889. given you in the beginning, the T-shirt and the Cup that says

  890. you were in the race. But you don't get the medal in

  891. the end because everybody gets a medal when they run these

  892. things. And then some get these like

  893. victor's medals, right, because they're running to win.

  894. Most of us are running for recreation, all right, but let's

  895. don't run this life of recreation.

  896. Let's run to win, he said. I finished the course I have

  897. kept, which tells us if you don't keep the faith, you can't

  898. finish the course. All right.

  899. In the future, he says, is laid up for me here.

  900. It is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord,

  901. the righteous judge, will award to me on that day.

  902. And not only me, but also to, to who?

  903. To who? All who?

  904. Not all like the whole world, but all who have loved his

  905. appearing. Those who have kept the faith,

  906. those who have finished the course, those who fought the

  907. good fight For what the crown of rises he has for me.

  908. He has one for you. Will you finish the course?

  909. It's 2025. It's the first day of the year.

  910. You've not done it. You've done really good.

  911. You came to church on your first date.

  912. You made the Kingdom 1st instead of staying home.

  913. It was late last night and I watched the ball go down and all

  914. these people sing and I went to this restaurant and I didn't get

  915. in till 2:00 and it was so late. You know, I think I'll just stay

  916. home. No, you can't.

  917. You pressed on, you assembled, you did the plan.

  918. So then day 2 come. Did you read your Bible reading

  919. today? Then you're on a good start,

  920. people. You did some fueling for today.

  921. You got the word in. You prayed in the Holy Ghost.

  922. Now let's repeat tomorrow. Let's make every day count.

  923. Let's be strong. Let's finish this course.

  924. Let this be the year that we only move forward and never look

  925. back.
