Luke chapter 3 verse 21 to 22. It says this Now when all the
-
people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized.
-
And while he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit
-
descended upon him in bodily formed like a dove, and a voice
-
came out of heaven saying, you are my beloved son, in whom I'm
-
well pleased. Now I heard a minister say this,
-
and so I'm going to say it here. Let me borrow your glasses,
-
Eric, because what I'm about to do is one of those situations
-
where we're just trying to make things more clear.
-
The reason why we have glasses is because, you know, there may
-
be a line of sight and then you put these on.
-
It's not that you cannot see, it's just that you want to be
-
able to see clearer. That's the whole point behind
-
it, right? So you understand when we begin
-
to thank you, when we begin to say certain things that have
-
been said through the years or things that we pick up, you
-
know, just in life, and we have real good intentions of why we
-
say them. No one is saying that.
-
You're not saying it from the right intention.
-
However, sometimes we can be saying something with the right
-
intention, but it's actually has a, it's actually not as correct
-
as it can be. So, you know, if you look at
-
this particular passage of Scripture and it's a little side
-
note because I feel like the Lord wants me to go here.
-
He said, this is my beloved son and you.
-
I am well pleased. Now, that is the highest
-
compliment that the Father can give to his children.
-
That's the highest compliment he can give to his children.
-
We tend to make this statement when our children, you know, or,
-
or, or someone we're around is doing something good.
-
We're like, man, we sure are proud of you, right?
-
We make that statement. However, when it comes to the
-
word, pride is not a positive thing.
-
OK, now I understand that you're not saying that your children
-
aren't. You're literally conveying how
-
much you are excited about what they are doing.
-
I am proud of you, OK? Unfortunately, what it can do,
-
and we don't even recognize it, what it can do is it can cause
-
our children or who you say to develop a bit of
-
self-sufficiency because the whole point behind pride is that
-
I am good. I can do it.
-
I can do it independent of. So when Jesus God, when Jesus,
-
when the Father says is this is my beloved son in whom I'm well
-
pleased, what he's pointing him to is I'm pleased with your
-
obedience to my word. So the highest company in the
-
natural we could actually give our children when they do well
-
is like, I'm well pleased. And that's really what you are.
-
You're pleased that they are obeying what you've asked them
-
to do. Because when pleasing shows up,
-
then what happens is is you're acknowledging that they were
-
obedient to what you asked. I mean, I'm just trying to be a
-
little more clear because we don't want to give the devil an
-
occasion where whether it's employee, you know, employer
-
employees you have or, or relationships you have, you
-
know, you know, whatever the case may be, or with your own
-
children that they think they're good and of themselves.
-
Because that road itself, that can give the enemy an occasion.
-
Now, not everybody goes down that road.
-
You say, well, my parents told me I was, they were proud of me
-
my whole life. I understand that me, my parents
-
let me do all kinds of stuff that, you know, in light of the
-
word. I'm like, man, I what what were
-
we doing in light of the word? Some things I'm like, this can
-
open doors. I it didn't open the door or if
-
it did, I just chose not to walk through it because of some other
-
stuff. But at the end of the day, why
-
would I even do this? OK, so I want to encourage you
-
as a parent that when your children are obeying and doing
-
say man, I sure am pleased with you because I it because that's
-
what our heavenly Father did. I think it had helped take your
-
family relationship to a whole nother level because now you're
-
acknowledging to your child the reason I'm pleased because
-
what's it say in Hebrews Chapter 11 verse 6 without faith?
-
It's impossible to please God. Now faith comes by hearing and
-
hearing from the word of God. So obeying his word, being a
-
doer of his word is why you're walking in faith.
-
And when you're walking in faith, So Jesus is being
-
baptized because he acknowledged to John, John's like, I'm not
-
even worthy to untie your sandals.
-
You should be baptizing me. He said, permitted unto this,
-
permitted at this time so that all righteousness can be
-
fulfilled. In essence, my father has
-
written that this would occur and I'm going to obey him.
-
And when he did that, obviously he's baptized by John.
-
The windows opened up. The Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus
-
without measure and said, This is my beloved Son in whom I am
-
well, well pleased. OK, then we jump over into Luke
Luke 4 chapter mention
-
chapter 4 verse one. It says Jesus full of the Holy
-
Spirit, say full of the Holy Spirit.
-
Full of the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan and was led
-
around by the Spirit into the wilderness.
-
Jesus was what? Full of the Holy Spirit.
-
Jump down to verse 14 of the same chapter, Luke 14414 it
-
says, and Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the
-
Spirit, in the what power of the So he was full of the Spirit.
-
Now he's returning in the power of the Spirit and the news about
-
Him spread through all the surrounding districts.
-
OK, then if you jump down a couple more verses real quick,
-
it says in in verse 18 and 19, Jesus now in the temple pulls
-
out the scrolls and he says the Spirit of the Lord is upon me
-
because why is the Spirit of the Lord upon him?
-
Because he anointed me. He anointed me to preach the
-
gospel to the poor to send. He has sent me to proclaim
-
release to the captors, recovery of sight to the blind, to set
-
free those who are pressed to proclaim the favorable year of
-
the Lord. OK, now he stops there because
-
if you go to Isaiah, there's another one and the, the, the
-
day of the vengeance of the Lord, which is a a day of wrath
-
that's coming. But when Jesus came, that was
-
not that time, right? So here Jesus between Luke
Luke 3 chapter mention
-
chapter 3 to Luke chapter 4, we see the account of when the Holy
Luke 4 chapter mention
-
Spirit came upon Jesus. And this is really important
-
because again, we need to fully understand why we have the Holy
-
Spirit. We have learned here at Anchor
-
Faith Church that there is a lot of truth concerning Scripture,
-
but that falls between Genesis chapter 3 and Revelations
Genesis 3 chapter mention Revelation 20 chapter mention
-
chapter 20. And that is considered the fall
-
of man. OK.
-
And when you're in between those two, then things that you see,
-
things that you read, although they're true, they still are a
-
little hidden because they do not have original intent and
-
conclusion, meaning. Revelations 21 and 22.
-
What happens after it's all over with?
-
When sins dealt with and everybody's stolen to the lake
-
of fire, that's disobeyed. And then here we are, new heaven
-
and new new earth. Because in between 3:00 and
-
Revelations 20, it's about man who's not right with God, who
-
needs someone to save them, which is Jesus, that when they
-
died they would go to heaven because that's where Jesus is
-
currently at. So the whole gospel between
-
Genesis 3 and Revelation 22 is about being born again,
-
receiving the power of God, so that when we separate from this
-
life, we will be with him who's currently residing in heaven.
-
And many of us, we're taught, will be in heaven forever.
-
But when you read the back of the book, there's a new heaven
-
and new earth, and the new Jerusalem's coming down out of
-
heaven to the earth. And this becomes problematic for
-
doctrine when we think we're going to be up there somewhere
-
when there's a earth here that's going to be redeemed.
-
Amen. And, you know, we have to ask
-
the question if we are being redeemed or bought with a price
-
and we're born again, a born, a new born from above, literally
-
what are we born to? If we have come out of one place
-
and gone into a place, then what does that afford us now?
-
Jesus understands this process because if you read Jesus and
-
the anointing coming upon him, nowhere do we see Jesus
-
highlighting the anointing with how it made him feel, nor did he
-
talk about how many times it put him on the ground.
-
I'm OK, we're just discussing. Will the anointing put you on
-
the ground? Yes.
-
Jesus was so anointed coming out of the garden when He spoke.
-
Knock people down. No problem with these things.
-
But again, sometimes what we do, if we do not know why we have
-
the anointing or why the Holy Spirit's coming upon us, we'll
-
associate it with a service, right?
-
And we associate the anointing with actions, certain actions.
-
Again, question, why do we run when the anointing comes on you?
-
Why do we run? Hallelujah.
-
I mean, you understand where where am I going?
-
Well, what scripture are you using?
-
Well, we understand that Elijah, the anointing came on him
-
concerning rain and he girded up his loins and he took off.
-
Well, you understand, we're definitely not being anointed
-
for rain to come and then running.
-
And I'm not saying you can't run no problem.
-
I'm just saying is it because we see people in these Genesis 3 to
-
Revelations 20 specifically and see how they are being affected
-
when the Holy Spirit comes upon them that we are try.
-
We think that's the reason. Now I'm not saying you can't
-
have some things again. David obviously have the
-
anointing come on him and he danced before the Lord.
-
Please dance. Oh, please dance.
-
There's plenty of scripture talking about dancing.
-
No problem with dancing, OK? No problem with raising your
-
hand. No problem with clapping.
-
No problem that if you get so much on you that you just like I
-
got to go, fine, take off. I understand that.
-
But again, those are not why we have the anointing.
-
They're just some effects that sometimes can happen when it
-
comes on us again. But it's not what we're looking
-
for, you understand? I don't want the anointing to
-
run. I don't want the anointing to
-
have goosebumps. I I don't want the anointing to
-
fall down on my face before the Lord and then stay there for a
-
time that then once it lifts, I'm the same person, No change.
-
I don't want an anointing to come on me to dance, but then
-
the next day when bad news comes, we're not dancing.
-
Amen. You know, I wish I was back in
-
that service. Well, why is there the anointing
-
in the 1st place? OK, because the day of Pentecost
-
is really significant. And again, we highlight it based
-
upon a language, but it was something bigger than that.
-
Because at the end of the day, yes, can we pray in an unknown
-
tongue, which is just the language of the Kingdom?
-
Absolutely. But you understand, the Lord
-
didn't say, hey, I want you to hang out, wait for the Holy
-
Spirit to be poured out so that you can speak in an unknown
-
tongue. You notice he never told them
-
that. What he said to them is that you
-
would receive what? Receive what?
-
Receive what power. You know what He didn't say?
-
He said you'll receive when. When he comes, you're going to
-
fall on the ground. When he comes, you're going to
-
flop around. When he comes, you're going to
-
run out the building. When he comes, you're going to
-
laugh so hysterically that you will not be able to contain
-
yourself. Now all those things can happen,
-
but what did he say would happen?
-
You'll receive power. Now that's important.
-
Are you hearing me? So let me say this concerning
-
Jesus in Luke chapter 4 verse 18, he said this.
-
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me.
-
OK, Luke 4, let's look at this progression real quick before I
-
go over to Acts chapter 10. Jesus says, now permit it so
Acts 10 chapter mention
-
that all righteousness can be fulfilled.
-
He's baptized in the door and he comes up.
-
The Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus descends upon him, and the
-
Father said this of my beloved son in whom I'm well pleased.
-
Then the next verse, he's full of the Holy Spirit.
-
Luke 41 He's full of the Holy Spirit after he's tempted of the
-
devil. So he was full of the Holy
-
Spirit before he encountered the Prince of the power of the air.
-
God didn't. OK, I'll just give you the
-
punchline because it's going to be easier if I do it from here.
-
In Luke chapter 3, the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus, of
Luke 3 chapter mention
-
which he acknowledges in the 18th verse of Luke 4 that he's
-
been anointed. When the Holy Spirit came upon
-
him, it was the King's anointing that came on him.
-
He received a King's power. This is significant because he's
-
full of the Holy Spirit or the anointing that says he's king.
-
That God who is king on the throne, the Father who is the
-
King of all creation, says this is my son.
-
Well, if he's king and this is a son, then guess what?
-
The son is the son's a king. This is my Son in whom I'm well
-
pleased. So in essence, the Father says I
-
will not send my Son to battle the God of this world or the one
-
who's ruling the world until he himself is in his rulership
-
position. Jesus is without sin.
-
He's never sinned up to this point.
-
He's had no sin. So as far as righteousness is
-
concerned, Jesus is righteous, but he does not be LED.
-
He is not led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of
-
the devil until he shows up with the authority of the king.
-
So he received power, he received the Holy Ghost, he had
-
the fullness of the spirit, and in that full of the spirit, he
-
was able to overcome all the temptations of the devil for
-
those 40 days. And then verse 14 says he left.
-
He came to the next location in the power of the spirit.
-
What did he do? I show this God of this world,
-
or the ruler of this world, the the one who rules the domain of
-
darkness, that there's a new king in the earth because he
-
could not defeat me. Kings go to battle.
-
So the king went to battle with the ruler of this world and he
-
defeated him before he openly stripped him of his power.
-
I mean, it's just the beginning of a long line of defeats for
-
the God of this world, a long line of defeats.
-
But Jesus did not go because he had goosebumps.
-
Jesus did not go because he fell out in the Spirit.
-
He, Jesus did not go because he was laughing hysterically.
-
Jesus went because he was anointed as king with power.
-
Now, I'm not going to say that Jesus did not.
-
The Bible just doesn't tell us that during some of the
-
temptation, he may have just started laughing.
-
He could have. For the joy of the Lord is your
-
strength. And he was tempted 40 days.
-
I mean, it was in intense temptation and persecution from
-
the Prince of the power of the air.
-
I mean, I'm going to tell you right now, I don't believe
-
there's anyone in this room that the devil has showed up at your
-
house. I don't believe any of you have
-
ever had an encounter with the devil, Satan himself.
-
Now you'd probably have some encounters with some of his
-
spirits, but most likely he's never really showed up.
-
But he showed up with Jesus, right?
-
This is the one that rules that realm.
-
This is the one that was able to pull the domain or the authority
-
power from Adam. And now he has it because the
-
Luke account, which is why I went to the Luke 1.
-
If you read that temptation is where he says all this domain or
-
power or authority I'll give to you if you because it's been
-
handed over to me. If you just bow down and worship
-
me and Jesus like not going to happen.
-
It's written. It is written.
-
It is written. That's how you respond.
-
It is written. It is written now.
-
I'm not going to say that he didn't say give me some more.
-
I'm not going to say he didn't get excited.
-
Jump around. I'm not.
-
Scripture just doesn't indicate it.
-
Why? Because those effects are not
-
what's important. What's important is he knew he
-
had power and authority. That's what's important.
-
So again, if I run in a service or if I dance in a service, or
-
if I shout in a service, or if I laugh uncontrollably in a
-
service so that I'm then the next day I'm stronger because
-
of, because again, it's the authority.
-
It's not those particular things in and of itself.
-
And again, I would have strength because first I would have to
-
believe that the joy of the Lord actually is my strength.
-
Because you can laugh and not believe it's your strength and
-
then just be more exhausted after you've been laughing.
-
Have you ever laughed? Did your stomach hurt so bad?
-
You're like, man, I feel like I'm wore out.
-
Well, where's the strength at? There's faith that still has to
-
be applied here. So Jesus had power.
-
Power here in the Greek means this.
-
It is one who has power to rule. It's the potentiality to exert
-
force in performing some function power.
-
So the first thing though, is the power to rule.
-
So Jesus received an anointing from his Father and says you
-
have the power to rule. Hallelujah.
-
Come on, do you have the power of the rule?
-
That's way more important than anything else that happens with
-
the Holy Ghost in Acts chapter 10 verse 38 says you know of
-
Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy
-
Spirit and with there's that word that is one who has power
-
to rule and how he went about doing good and healing all who
-
are oppressed of the devil for God was with him.
-
Now the theological Dictionary of the New Testament says it
-
this way says these works that Jesus did went around doing good
-
differ from similar acts of power in contemporary world in
-
three ways. Number one, they have no
-
connection with magic. This is not magic, this is not
-
sorcery. That's witchcraft.
-
So this has the anointing has nothing to do with that.
-
This has to do with rulership #2 they are done by the Word, which
-
is the word of the omnipotent God, whose king Kingdom here
-
enters history and overthrows the rule of hostile forces.
-
So #1 it's not magic #2 it is from a word, and it's from the
-
word of the King. Because now the Kingdom of our
-
God has reentered the earth. That's why Jesus said now the
-
Kingdom of God is at hand. Our Father who's in heaven,
-
hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done.
-
That's his rule, that's his reign.
-
He wants that. So the anointing, the reason we
-
want the anointing is so that it continues to strengthen the
-
rulership God has given us in Christ.
-
All right. The third thing is, is the
-
presupposed faith both in him who does the work and in those
-
whose behalf they are done. So a personal relationship is
-
demanded. So again, Jesus had a
-
relationship with the Father who anointed him, and by faith he
-
carried out the word of his Father.
-
Both he and God. God believed his own word.
-
Jesus believed him at his word, and because of that, the word of
-
the King came to pass. Why?
-
Because it demonstrated the authority of the Kingdom.
-
So the anointing when it's in our lives should be a should be
-
demonstrating the authority of the Kingdom first and foremost.
-
But again, when we're in between Genesis 3 and Revelations 20,
-
then we're really just trying to, if we don't watch out, you
-
know, we, we don't seem to think that there's much the effect on
-
the earth isn't the same because our goal is to be out of here.
-
So then we just like these tangible touches from God,
-
thinking the anointing is a tangible touch from God in our
-
lives that make us feel better and helps us cope with what's
-
going on down here. Now the anointing is not here to
-
help you cope or to let you remind you that there is a God
-
in heaven who cares for you. It is to remind you, you rule
-
and reign. Now the good news is it does
-
feel awesome and it's exciting to be in those types of services
-
where the anointing comes upon you in a greater measure.
-
And again, when people are in one mind 1 accord, it flows even
-
easier. I'm not saying that it can't
-
flow with conflict because we know the anointing can flow with
-
conflict. Jesus obviously was in a
-
particular room that a guy's ripped the ceiling off and put
-
their paralyzed friend down. And it says he's seeing their
-
faith. He ends up speaking to him.
-
And there were people in the corner that were not there to
-
support Jesus's ministry, but they were the religious to to,
-
to always be listening and trying to make his words seem
-
wrong in the ears of those they were talking to.
-
OK. And so then Jesus by word of
-
knowledge ends up calling them out and said, why do you say to
-
yourself? So to let you know that not only
-
can I forgive sins and heal because they're both easy for
-
me. He told the man to get up and
-
walk. The man got up and walk and
-
walked out. So even though there was
-
conflict in the room, power, the authority he had with his word
-
over the paralyzation of the man's body overruled the
-
paralyzed man's body, called him to be whole again, where he
-
could get up in his own strength and walk out with a mat.
-
Now that's pretty powerful because when someone's
-
paralyzed, you know, I don't remember the terms.
-
That app, you know, where the muscles get really small.
-
Yes, that's the one. And so obviously the Lord was
-
able to quicken those muscles. He didn't say, OK, you're healed
-
now and we're going to help you get up.
-
Now let's do a few squats real quick to do some air squats.
-
All right, get down a little lower.
-
Let's keep working it out. Here we go.
-
Come on, we're doing it. You're getting it.
-
Starting to get strength. But no, I mean, he jumped up.
-
Grab the mat. I mean, this happened at the
-
gate. Beautiful with Peter.
-
Why 'cause Peter was anointed on the day of Pentecost.
-
And when he goes by in the next chapter, he didn't say, man, you
-
should have been in the upper room.
-
It was an amazing service. Oh, my gosh.
-
I mean, we were like drunk. It was crazy.
-
I mean, I had explained the whole thing.
-
I mean, you should have been there.
-
Didn't say that to the man at the gate.
-
Beautiful. Oh, he didn't testify about the
-
feeling of the anointing upon him.
-
I mean, it's like I had tongues of fire.
-
It was crazy. No, what he did, he said silver
-
and gold, I have none. But what I do have, what do I
-
have? I have the same anointing that
-
was on King. Jesus is now on me, and he has
-
just authorized me, 'cause I was there when they ripped the roof
-
off man. And Jesus spoke to that
-
paralyzed guy and he got up and here I am going to do the same
-
thing because I'm a king of the King and I'm going to speak in
-
the name of Jesus. Get up walking.
-
He was so confident that he grabbed his hand and snatched
-
him up. That's the anointing.
-
Well, it's more exciting than you're saying, but that's fine.
-
It's the anointing because he recognized it wasn't about this
-
service. It was about power, authority,
-
rulership, kingship. Listen same principle that
-
happened with Jesus. He did with his disciples.
-
Jesus is born of the Virgin Mary.
-
He is a man in he's God in the flesh, yet never sin.
-
So when he was one, no sin 2 no sin 5 no sin 10 no sin 13 no sin
-
16 no sin 25 no sin, 30 years old, no sin.
-
He is without sin. His nature is free from sin.
-
This is powerful. His thinking is pure.
-
Yet the Father says, I don't even want you to go to the king
-
of this world until I announce your kingship and anoint you.
-
And here's what Jesus does. And John he breathes on his
-
disciples receive the Holy Spirit.
-
Now they've been made righteous. They're in the likeness, they're
-
born again. Their nature now is like Christ.
-
They are new creatures in Christ.
-
But he said, wait, don't you go witness in one bit yet?
-
Because I need your kingship to show up because he said the
-
worst that I do even greater works.
-
Are you going to do and when? What was the context of that?
-
If I go, he comes and it's to your advantage that he comes and
-
I go. Why?
-
Because if I'm here, I am the king.
-
But when I go, then I can release that same anointing.
-
And 1st John tells us that we have the same anointing.
-
So the day of Pentecost is so important because it was God's
-
announcement to a defeated foe that's been whipped and stripped
-
of his power that I just left a whole lot of kings on the earth
-
that represent my Kingdom. And they are going to make a
-
mess of your domain. They're going to make a mess
-
because the same power I had, they now have glory to God.
-
Amen. So we're not sensing and feeling
-
and have an anointing just to get us through until we go
-
somewhere. No, we received an anointing
-
that has feelings and does certain things to us at times
-
and causes us to respond in certain ways.
-
But it's all about this authority, this dominion, this
-
power that God has given us. Can I get an Amen?
-
So with that being said, turn over to John 14 again, Jesus
-
said, truly, truly. I say to you, he who believes in
-
me, the works that I do, greater works will He do, right.
-
The worse that I do He will do also in greater works than these
-
He will do because I go to the Father.
-
John 14 jumps down to verse 16 and seven.
-
He said, I'll ask the Father and he'll give you another comforter
-
that he may be with you forever. That is the spirit of truth whom
-
the world cannot receive because it does not see him or know him,
-
but you know him because he abides in you and will be in you
-
right here. It is now in John chapter 20
-
verse 21 and 22. And Jesus said to them, peace be
-
with you as the Father as as the Father has sent me, I also send
-
you. And when he had said this, he
-
breathed on them and said, receive the Holy Spirit.
-
So the Father sent me in righteousness, impurity, my
-
spirit man was alive to him. The Holy Spirit came in him in
-
me. Now at this junk, you know this
-
juncture is when they actually received the Spirit within.
-
Up to this point the Holy Spirit had only been coming upon
-
prophet, priests and kings in the old covenant.
-
But now this is the death, burial and resurrection of
-
Jesus. This is after he has been raised
-
from the dead. He has put his blood on the
-
mercy seat. The new covenant is in play and
-
he said receive the Holy Spirit, they receive the Spirit within
-
that bears witness with their spirit, their children of God.
-
Then he said, now you wait until the promise of the Father.
-
You know what John was talking about, that he baptized the
-
water, but I'm going to be baptizing with the Holy Spirit
-
and fire. He's coming and I want you to
-
wait till he comes. And on the day of Pentecost,
-
Whoo, come on. On the day of the day of
-
Pentecost was God's announcement to the world.
-
Here are the kings of the earth. My gosh, are you hearing what
-
I'm saying? In Genesis chapter 2 verse
Genesis 2 chapter mention
-
seven, Look at this. Jesus breathed on them in John
-
20. Why does He do this?
-
Because this is what the Father did to Adam in Genesis 27.
-
Then the Lord got four man out of the dust of the ground and
-
what breathed into His nostrils the breath of life, and He
-
became a living being. So you understand then the fall
-
of man cause man to lose access to the Holy Spirit.
-
So in essence, human beings were made in the image and likeness
-
of the King, with his own personal presence within them.
-
Isn't that amazing? In every person's search for
-
power and meaning in life is this.
-
They are actually seeking the return of the King's spirit.
-
That's all. Every person in their search for
-
power and meaning, what they're actually looking for is the
-
return of the King's spirit. That's what they're looking for.
-
A human being without the King's spirit is dysfunctional because
-
he's never complete. His very purpose requires the
-
presence of the Holy Spirit. Are you hearing me?
-
Come on. Are you hearing me?
-
Now listen, we have some tools that train in this area.
-
First of all, cool of the day deals with prayer, how to talk
-
to your Father. I mean, you understand we write
-
material for no other purpose than to help disciple the body.
-
And you understand the books that we write are for Anchor
-
Faith first. If anyone else picks it up,
-
great, but they're for us first. Then as you've read them and
-
they change your life, then you can get them for other people
-
because some contents that's within this book isn't being
-
taught everywhere when it comes to prayer.
-
Amen. And these are tools because you
-
understand sometimes it's difficult to get in a
-
conversation with people about the Bible.
-
You know, not a whole lot of people want to talk the word.
-
So sometimes it's easier to get there by saying, you know what,
-
I picked up a book for you. Oh, OK, yeah, Amen.
-
Now you pray over that book first, Lord, speak to him
-
through the book because I can tell you right now it's not the
-
Bible, but it has a lot of Bible in it, right?
-
Then we have another tool called lead follower on how to be led
-
by the Spirit. Again, once the anointing, the
-
minute Jesus comes out of the Jordan River and the Holy Spirit
-
came upon him without measure, the Spirit started talking.
-
Jesus, I want you to go to the wilderness.
-
And he had to learn how to be a lead follower.
-
We call Jesus the greatest leader, but the reality is in
-
the earth as the Son of man, he was the greatest lead follower
-
because he was just following the voice of his Father by the
-
Spirit. I don't do anything on my own
-
initiative, he said, but only what my father says.
-
So when I'm doing this, you know, they're like, wow, look at
-
this guy lead. I'm following.
-
And the centurion knew that the centurion when he came to Jesus
-
about his servant that was sick, he said, what did he say to me?
-
He said, Jesus, I am on a man under authority.
-
I am a man also under authority and in authority he said I like
-
you, am a man under and in. When I tell my servant to go, he
-
goes. When I tell him to come, he
-
comes. I'll tell him to do this, He
-
does it. Jesus said I've not seen such
-
great faith. No, not in all of Israel.
-
But the first thing is centurion recognized about Jesus authority
-
is the one he was under before the one he was in.
-
Because if you can't be under, and let me just say it this way,
-
we're all under, Even those outside the Kingdom of God are
-
under the authority of the devil.
-
Now, we all have wills, don't get me wrong.
-
But the demonic realm is seductive, manipulative, and
-
deceiving. And many of them are like I'm
-
doing. But you're really deceived and
-
you don't realize that you're being told stuff and you're
-
really functioning that way, but you think you're the boss when
-
you're not. I know I'm not the boss, and I
-
just yielded. God, what do you want me to do?
-
How do you want me to respond? What do you want me to say?
-
How do you want me to act? I'm following you and the Holy
-
Ghost in me will tell me. Hallelujah, Amen.
-
So again, these are just resources for you, the things
-
that we experienced on Sunday and we'll experience these more
-
and more. I mean, we've done it through
-
the years anyway. You know, you have these ebbs
-
and flows of, you know, teaching and the moves of the Spirit.
-
I mean, they're there. But in the last days, it's just
-
going to be continuing increase. I mean, even already tonight I
-
had unction to pray for somebody for healing and I just had
-
unction and I know they'll be healed as a result of that
-
because the Lord said to do so, right.
-
And as we're listening and we're yielding and moving and doing
-
these particular things because it's his church that he's
-
building. But the reason why Pentecost
-
comes is so that we can receive. Is that not what he said in Acts
-
chapter one verse 3. He said in those and these whom
-
he presented alive after his suffering by many convincing
-
proofs appeared to them over a period of 40 days.
-
And Speaking of things concerning the Kingdom of God,
-
gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave
-
Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, which
-
he said, You heard from me for John baptized with water, but
-
you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from
-
now. Hallelujah.
-
Now they didn't know what day it was, but they didn't know that
-
it wasn't many days. Are you hearing what I'm saying?
-
Now we ultimately know that Jesus appeared to about 500
-
people. I cannot tell you He personally
-
invited all 500, but I can tell you that he definitely had a
-
conversation about that. 120 were committed to prayer.
-
It could have been larger than that right out the gate.
-
We do know 120 submitted to the process of waiting for
-
something, in essence obeying him.
-
He says that. He says he's coming, we're
-
waiting, we're praying. And again, this is very powerful
-
because the very first church is birthed out of a prayer meeting.
-
This is why prayer, corporate prayer time is so attacked.
-
And the enemy will do everything to convince you not to engage.
-
And just for the fact that we see this happen in every nation.
-
Makes me want to assume that 500 could have attended the prayer
-
meeting, but only 120 made it. That means more did not come.
-
Wow, isn't that amazing? Say I'll be one of the 120.
-
Come on, just be one of the 120. Amen.
-
So here's another thought. The most important promise God
-
ever made to human beings was the promise that the Holy Spirit
-
would return to live within them because He is the key to life.
-
When Adam ate the fruit, the Spirit departed from him.
-
This is what we've been waiting on, that reconnection with not
-
only God, but our purpose and destiny.
-
Without the Holy Spirit we are incomplete because God always
-
intended us to be connected to Him, to be of Him, because we
-
were created in His image that His Spirit could freely flow
-
with us. So it's the most important
-
promise that He made is that He's coming back.
-
Aren't you glad He came back? It is.
-
It was the presence of the Holy Spirit within human beings that
-
gave them the authority and ability to have dominion over
-
their environment. This is why you want the
-
anointing. This is why I would say, have
-
you received the baptism of the Spirit?
-
It's the power you're after. Tongues is an evidence.
-
It's not the reason, it's the power tongues, just the
-
evidence. And it's important because you
-
need to pray in the Spirit. In essence, you're praying in
-
the language of the Kingdom, which is full authority of God's
-
will to impact your environment. What's the Bible say?
-
When you don't know how you ought to pray?
-
What do you do? You pray in the Spirit, and
-
praying in the Spirit prays out the perfect will of God.
-
So God empowered you through an anointing, a King's anointing.
-
That then gives you access to a language that the enemy has no
-
idea what you're saying, and it releases God's perfect will.
-
You said, but I don't understand it, but God does.
-
Because when you're in a situation and you don't know how
-
you ought to overcome this thing God does, and you can pray in
-
the Spirit and release that will you being the king in the earth,
-
you're releasing the very words from the throne room in the
-
earth that heaven, earth and under the earth must obey in the
-
name of Jesus, Hallelujah. And in these last days, you want
-
to be praying in the spirit. You want to be releasing that
-
when those times you're like, ma'am, I don't even know what to
-
do here. Well, you know what my heavenly
-
Father does? Boom.
-
And you just start letting it go.
-
And what you're doing is you're you're making decrees and
-
declares from the throne room of heaven that will cause things to
-
begin to move. If you understand all creation
-
bows to the word of the king. Hallelujah bows.
-
So you understand creation is even bowing.
-
Things are bowing to the Spirit of God and the authority and
-
power. So he says, listen, you the the
-
this dominion that we get that the Holy Spirit gave us back,
-
gave us dominion to rule over our environment.
-
They were to exercise that's us humans.
-
We are to exercise dominion over the earth under the direction of
-
the Spirit of God. The reason why we could speak to
-
storms is because we have been given authority on the earth,
-
and when the King, his Spirit, authorizes that, then the storm
-
has to listen again. All of Jesus's miracles were in
-
the authority. Adam lost every one of them.
-
Let us make man in our image according to our likeness, and
-
let him have rule over the right birds of the air, the fish of
-
the sea. This is why fish are multiplying
-
all the time with Jesus. Because he had authority over
-
it. Adam had authority over that.
-
Jesus can speak and fish listen even when they're dead.
-
Why? Because all matter.
-
You understand what I'm saying? All that is and exists hears the
-
voice of Jesus. So it doesn't matter that the
-
fish are out of the sea and they are technically not alive.
-
Jesus can speak to the substance of the fish, and the cells come
-
alive and begin to multiply this meat on the fish, so that every
-
time he divides and gives to his disciples, it just keeps
-
multiplying. That's because he's anointed.
-
That's because he's been given the power to rule and he's given
-
that to us. Wow.
-
So the restoration of the King's spirit to humanity is central to
-
the restoration of his Kingdom on the earth.
-
Again, because Genesis 3 to Revelations 20 ministering, we
-
look at the Holy Spirit and, and a lot of areas only look at the
-
Holy Spirit as the one who tells us we're children of God and
-
they only receive the spirit within.
-
I'm born again. That's all that matters is what
-
they, you know, tend to think. And so I just know where I'm
-
going to go when I'm when I die now, because the Spirit of God
-
speaks to my spirit. I can hear from God.
-
That's all that matters. Well, that's that's phase one
-
because it was never about you just hearing from God.
-
It's about you living like God. Now you're not God, you're a
-
human being. That is your species.
-
Can I say it that way? I mean, there are angels.
-
Angels are not God. They are created species.
-
We are created species called humans, but they're in the image
-
of God. Hallelujah.
-
So I am no way saying you are God or even a God.
-
What I'm saying is you are a human that is in the likeness of
-
God and can do the same things God can do Hallelujah.
-
Amen. Now that is good news.
-
Now is it good news to not go to the lake of fire forever?
-
But is it also good news to be healed?
-
Now isn't it also good news to be able to prosper now for your
-
purpose? Isn't it also good news now to
-
not ever be depressed, but have the joy of the Lord, which is
-
your strength? Isn't it also good news to be
-
given authority over the devil and your flesh?
-
So the good news just keeps coming.
-
I mean, the Lord, if he could go into churches, he would be
-
saying stuff like this. But wait, there's more, right?
-
Because there's always more with God as a human, He has empowered
-
me with His spirit so that my spirit with His spirit can do
-
the works of God. Wow, isn't that amazing?
-
I said, isn't that amazing? Praise the Lord.
-
So Jesus said or or Jesus says in Acts 1/8, he said, but you
-
shall receive. What are you going to receive?
-
So again, when we are expecting the anointing or we're asking
-
for the anointing, we're not asking to fall under the power,
-
although we could. We're not asking that we're
-
going to laugh, although we could.
-
We're not asking that we run or have goosebumps.
-
What we're asking is what Jesus said.
-
Listen, I want you to receive power.
-
Now, again, because we live in between Genesis 3 and Revelation
-
20, when we focus on the day of Pentecost, we'll focus on the
-
effect of the anointing and not the purpose of the anointing.
-
We'll focus on the effect of the anointing and not the purpose of
-
the anointing. That they were so drunk he had
-
to explain it. And they say, you know, you want
-
to get into a service where everybody's looking like they're
-
drunk. Well, if if you're so under the
-
influence of the spirit that you're stammering with your lips
-
and you can't hardly stand up under the anointing, because
-
that is true stuff. I mean, when the glory of God
-
came into the temple in the old covenant, the priest couldn't
-
even stand. There's no issue.
-
But those are effects of the anointing.
-
That's not the purpose of the anointing.
-
The purpose of the anointing is that you receive power.
-
You understand more people sometimes get discouraged with
-
Charismatics is because they they they demonstrate effects of
-
the anointing but aren't walking in the purpose of the anointing.
-
Yeah. So the Day of Pentecost, its
-
purpose was to give you King's authority, King's power, King's
-
rulership, and again, your mortal body.
-
Especially since we don't have a glorified suit, this mortal body
-
is going to to have enough. It will be affected by the
-
anointing or power of God when it comes upon us.
-
It definitely will. But again, that's not why I want
-
the anointing. I want the anointing so that
-
when I'm walking out day in and day out, then I'm functioning in
-
that authority and power. When when one of the defeated
-
principalities and powers comes against the church, I'll be able
-
to stay on the seat and speak and respond like a king.
-
But if you chase the effects of the anointing and the feeling of
-
the anointing, then your words are going to be based upon how
-
you feel and you miss the anointing all together.
-
You actually have an anointing to have authority to control
-
your flesh, control your mind, control your mouth, speak only
-
what he says. But because you go after the
-
effects of the anointing and not the purpose of the anointing,
-
then your words are going to be filled with effect.
-
This is why we see Charismatics, or what we would call
-
Pentecostals, we would call people full of the Holy Ghost,
-
yet act just as carnal as the world.
-
They can pray in tongues like crazy on a Sunday and curse on a
-
Monday. It's craziest thing.
-
Come on, y'all know what I'm talking about?
-
Y'all been around a couple? Yeah.
-
I mean, everybody's growing. I get it.
-
But again, what is it? We unfortunately, sometimes
-
we're taught, you know, we're trying to get this sense of
-
heaven. And the anointing gives us this
-
kind of feeling of a realm that's not here.
-
And we begin to chase the feeling instead of understanding
-
the purpose. Because I don't care who runs,
-
laughs, shouts, rolls on the floor.
-
It doesn't. But I don't care if you're so
-
drunk we got to drag you out of here because you're so full of
-
the Holy Ghost. No problem.
-
It's just when I hear you talk, I should hear the words of the
-
King. It is written.
-
Your emotions, your behavior should be in alignment with it
-
is written. Now that's a person that's like,
-
that's the anointing. They understand the anointing
-
for their lives and Jesus said, but you will receive what Acts
-
18 power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
-
Please understand I am in no way diminishing the effects of the
-
anointing. That's just not the purpose
-
because effects of the anointing can change.
-
You know, the anointing can get you quiet.
-
I was talking to a minister not too long ago.
-
You know, when I say not too long ago, it's been a little bit
-
OK, you understand, mine not too long ago can be 2-3 years
-
people. But anyway, I was talking and
-
they were like, you know, again, just they were dealing with the
-
challenge of, of, of people acting like the Holy Ghost was
-
moving when these effects were in operation.
-
And they kept they keep pushing. You can push a service to those
-
effects and so was talking about, I remember the day when
-
the anointing would come in and everybody just get quiet, can
-
hear a pin drop. Babies can be in the service and
-
never cry when that anointing comes in like that.
-
See, we want to be wiser. We want to be a mature church.
-
We want to recognize when the anointing's here and then not
-
think one effect is more of God than the other.
-
I mean, in fact, this particular minister said they've received
-
more direction during the quiet times than they ever did during
-
the laughing, running or shouting times, although they've
-
done that because if we don't watch out, we brother Hayden
-
used to say this. If you do not train the people
-
how to move with the spirit, you'll lose it in a generation.
-
You can train people about the move of the spirit only in one
-
way and still lose a generation because they'll think that's the
-
only way. They'll think that's the only
-
way. So if you're going to talk about
-
the effects of the anointing, then talk about all of them.
-
Don't talk about the one that made you feel the best.
-
And here's the thing, A lot of times when we're dealing with
-
stuff and God brings the anointing on our lives and we
-
feel, I mean, how many have felt his tangible presence even on
-
Sunday, right? I mean, and then even today, how
-
many feel his tangible presence? Yeah.
-
I mean, you can just like, but it's not about feeling Him.
-
It's about knowing Him, right? It's about knowing him.
-
But we can feel him. We can respond with our emotions
-
when it's directed by our Spirit, no problem.
-
However, it's not the feeling we're after, and Jesus is trying
-
to emphasize that here. But you will receive power when
-
the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my
-
witnesses both in Jerusalem and Judea, Samaria, and even to the
-
run as parts of the earth. We'll close with this one here.
-
Acts 2, one through 4. Pentecost was Sunday, Amen.
-
Which again, is just 50 days after Passover.
-
That's what that means. Pentecost by itself is not
-
about, I don't want to say Pentecost was something prior to
-
the outpouring of the Spirit because it was a type and shadow
-
of something to come, which was the outpouring of the Spirit.
-
You understand what I'm saying? OK, so this was 50 days after
-
Passover. Pentecost had come.
-
So the fulfillment of this particular feast, which is
-
called the Feast of Weeks as well, is going to be fulfilled
-
through Jesus. And the Holy Spirit said they
-
were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from
-
heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the
-
whole house where they were sitting.
-
And there appeared to them tongues as a fire distributing
-
themselves, and they rested on each one of them.
-
And they were all. How many were all filled?
-
That means he doesn't feel some and none all.
-
In this context, we feel all. Now, I'm not talking about the
-
gifts of tongue. That's something different.
-
This is about receiving power. All of us can receive power.
-
The Holy Spirit has gifts. OK, you understand?
-
We'll debate this. People will debate this.
-
Well, now, if you're Speaking of tongues, that's a gift, you
-
know, because the gifts of tongues, well, you know, there's
-
the gifts of healings. Yeah.
-
The Bible says every believer can lay hands on the sick and
-
they shall recover, and the gifts are not required.
-
But there are some healings that require gifts.
-
So again, if you can have healings without gifts, then you
-
can have tongues without the gift of tongues.
-
So they're two separate things. Are you hearing what I'm saying?
-
So again, this is the endowment of power.
-
We focus on tongues when we need to focus on power, because if
-
you come for the power, you'll, you'll speak in an unknown
-
tongue. That's, I mean, it's just going
-
to happen because it comes with the power.
-
So they were all filled with the spirit, began to speak with
-
other tongues as the spirit was giving them others.
-
And you understand that there is, they are unknown tongues,
-
but they're not limited to unknown tongues because Paul
-
literally talks about it being an unknown tongue where your
-
mind's not fruitful, period. However, you can speak another
-
language. I have personally spoken in some
-
Asian tongue. Once I was in prayer and I was
-
praying and I started praying in some Asian and I knew in my
-
spirit, this is a language. I knew it.
-
Now, no one's in the house but me, so I don't know what I'm
-
saying, but I knew in my spirit, if I was in that country, they
-
would understand me. And then I perceived in my
-
spirit that someone within that nation needed something, that
-
God used that language through me to decree what was necessary
-
to break. And I'll never know what that
-
is, probably this side. I may not never know what this
-
is, this side of heaven, this side of the Bema seat or the
-
reward seat of Christ, because I believe at that moment, because
-
I united that whatever occurred and whatever was released,
-
because once I got a release, I quit speaking in it, then
-
whatever that was, I believe the Lord will let me know on that
-
day. But at this point I don't know
-
what it is. So again, you couldn't say,
-
well, that kind of sound, you know, you may be speaking in a
-
language known to someone somewhere, period.
-
Now, I'll even give you this one.
-
Pastor David EMI, who went on to be with the Lord, was my pastor.
-
At Word of Life, before I came and planted this church, I had
-
him come to Anchor Bay Church and minister and he ministered
-
on the Holy Spirit and we were over at 312 in a backroom
-
because we were doing some remodeling.
-
We got stuck in 3000 square feet instead of having the whole 10
-
and so we he was back there ministering.
-
Well, a lady was there with a friend who only understood
-
Spanish, and so while he was ministering in English, she was
-
leaning over and translating what he was saying.
-
About halfway through, the lady who was receiving the
-
translation said, you don't have to talk to me anymore.
-
He's speaking in Spanish. I hear him perfectly.
-
But he was not speaking in Spanish.
-
He was speaking in English. But when it hit her ears, it
-
changed. Now I cannot explain that, but
-
that was her testimony. You don't have to translate.
-
I can hear him perfectly speaking in my language.
-
And she listened to him the rest of the time.
-
Now they're sound waves, you understand, You can interrupt
-
sound waves. They're out.
-
But the Lord can tweak that. OK.
-
But again, we've been emphasizing language when the
-
emphasis is power. So the day of Pentecost was the
-
great coronation of the kings. It was a ceremony that the earth
-
is about to be full of kings of in Christ's that and he
-
demonstrated this with 120 in one day 120 people were were
-
anointed as kings that then Peter says do you want to
-
receive your kingship too. He said this is that which was
-
prophesied by the prophet Joel. He goes on and ministers and
-
they're like what must we do because he said this promise is
-
for you. You can have this power too.
-
And 3000, who came that day not thinking they would be kings,
-
but became kings that day. And then it started a King's
-
revival. That ain't.
-
People are just getting in the Kingdom, being born from above,
-
being anointed, and then they're all operating and functioning
-
like little Christ. And it became such a wild thing
-
that in Antioch, people would recognize them as Christians.
-
Why? Because they function like
-
Christ. So if you're a Christian, then
-
you're just saying you're a little king of the king, and if
-
you are, then you need to function in his authority.
-
Hallelujah. So first take authority over
-
your own life, your own mind, your own emotions, your own
-
desires. Yield and submit them to the
-
King of glory. And then as you do that, God
-
will release your authority even more out into the earth.
-
Hallelujah.
