  1. All right, tonight I'm going to talk to you about the Great

  2. Commission. Come on.

  3. The Great Commission Pastor Mike ministered last week on Max Reps

  4. about growing up spiritually, right?

  5. And it is a process. Pastor Chase talked about this

  6. invitation that God has given to us.

  7. And are we excited about meeting with him or have our ears

  8. allowed his voice to just be common and familiar?

  9. Right. Well, I'm going to kind of

  10. summarize both of these in this Great Commission because

  11. unfortunately, when I say the Great Commission, what do you

  12. think of going all the world? That's true, going all world and

  13. preach the gospel? I think everybody can say that.

  14. But the question is, is what does that actually mean?

  15. All right, I'm going to start out with this verse in Acts

    Acts 11:26

  16. Chapter 11, verse 26, because this is where our conflict

  17. arises. And it actually started all the

  18. way back here where there became, there becomes a

  19. challenge that takes place. And it is an exchange of terms.

  20. All right, say an exchange of terms.

  21. You understand terms or words are really powerful and you

  22. understand you're not a cynic, nor are you a person who is

  23. critical. But we do need to have critical

  24. thinking and we need to be able to make sure things are rightly

  25. divided because words are being changed constantly in every

  26. generation. And as a result of that, people

  27. have definitions towards certain words that may have never been

  28. God's intent for us. That's why we always go back to

  29. the word capital W, right? Because again, God is the Word,

  30. so He has the right to define the terms.

  31. And again, we cannot allow ourselves to let the world

  32. define us, but the Word should define us, and this is the world

  33. defining us. And when he had found him, he

  34. brought him to Antioch and for an entire year he met with the

  35. church and that's Paul and taught considerable numbers and

  36. the what are they? What are they called were first

  37. called in. It was the Antiochs or the world

  38. that when they saw these disciples, they said, well,

  39. they're Christians or studiers of Christ.

  40. Now that's the term that they're using.

  41. Well, they're studiers of Christ, or they're Christ like.

  42. Now that by definition alone is not a problem.

  43. But is that today's definition of Christian?

  44. That would be a question #2 though Christian was not given

  45. by Christ himself. So sometimes we, we, we embrace

  46. a term that Jesus. And again, nothing wrong if you

  47. say, well, I'm a Christian, no problem with that.

  48. And when we have these kinds of conversations, sometimes people

  49. say, well, it's semantics. It's really not semantics.

  50. If you will take the time to think.

  51. It's not semantics, it is literally being firmly persuaded

  52. about terms. And are you allowing them to

  53. govern your life? Because if you're not, There are

  54. many people that I've encountered who would call

  55. themselves a Christian but do not even know the term disciple

  56. nor what it means to be a disciple.

  57. In fact, this term Christian came because they were

  58. disciples, which tells me if you're not a disciple, you're

  59. not a candidate for the word Christian.

  60. Which tells us this being converted doesn't make you a

  61. Christian because the word Christian means Christ like.

  62. And that is in every way. Now when you're born again,

  63. you're in Christ, but are you allowing what you're in to be

  64. seen? And that's what discipleship

  65. will do. Now let's look at this in Mark

    Mark 16:15–18

  66. chapter 16, verse 15 to 18. You know, it's my responsibility

  67. not only as an apostle but also as a pastor is to rightly divide

  68. the word of truth into train. That's our responsibility, OK?

  69. And that responsibility is the always cause us to want to

  70. emulate or reflect the word of God in our lives.

  71. And this is not just by casual conversation.

  72. This is by intense rigor and training.

  73. As Pastor Mike said last week, it is a process of training.

  74. This does not happen overnight. It requires a discipline.

  75. So Mark chapter 16. This is the one that most people

    Mark 16 chapter mention

  76. quote. Mark chapter 16, verse 815

  77. through 18. And he said to them, go into all

  78. the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

  79. And he who believed and have been baptized shall be saved,

  80. but he who has disbelief shall be condemned.

  81. These signs will accompany those who have believed in my name.

  82. They'll cast out demons. They'll speak with new tongues,

  83. they'll pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison it

  84. will not hurt them. They'll lay hands on the sick,

  85. and they will what recover. In this particular passage of

  86. Scripture, the word preach here is the Greek word which means to

  87. officiate as a herald, always with the suggestion of

  88. formality, gravity, and an authority which must be listened

  89. to and obeyed. So this word in the Greek

  90. doesn't just mean to say, it's how you say and what are you

  91. demonstrating when you say? It means to herald, which is

  92. awesome because that's a Kingdom term because the king would send

  93. out what they called it and a herald to communicate business

  94. or things that the king is saying.

  95. That's where, you know, you hear the saying, hear ye, hear ye.

  96. In essence, give attention. What I'm saying came from the

  97. throne and it is to be observed. It is to be obeyed.

  98. It's to be listened to and obeyed.

  99. Are you hearing me? OK, Well, we pick up this term

  100. going to all the world and preach and this.

  101. So we we take this side of the Great Commission and

  102. unfortunately for years, it's the only aspect of the Great

  103. Commission we're wanting to say. And that is let's just go

  104. preach. Let's go tell people about

  105. Jesus. Let's tell people about Jesus.

  106. That's the Great Commission. Go tell people about Jesus.

  107. Well, the Bible tells us let everything be confirmed by what

  108. 2 or so? Is there another scripture that

  109. communicates the Great Commission?

  110. Yes, Matthew chapter 28. Matthew chapter 28 uses the word

Matthew 28 chapter mention Matthew 28 chapter mention

  111. go as well and we'll look to see it here in verse 18.

  112. Prior to this, let's look what Jesus said.

  113. Jesus came and spoke to them saying all authority has been

  114. given to me in heaven and on earth.

  115. Now let me stop right here. This is why they can lay hands

  116. on the sick, cast out devils. They can do the why 'cause all

  117. authority. So you see how these two verses,

  118. these two contexts of scriptures connect.

  119. Now Jesus didn't say or Mark, the writer doesn't say that all

  120. authority has been given to Jesus.

  121. This is why you're doing it. But Matthew lets us know because

  122. you're not casting out devils without the name of Jesus, who's

  123. been authorized, who's given the name above every name.

  124. OK, he said I've got been given all authority.

  125. Here it is verse 19. Go therefore and make disciples.

  126. Now if you read out the King James, it says go therefore and

  127. preach. You say, oh it doesn't say make

  128. disciples. Well, that's why you have to go

  129. to the original language, because the word preach in Mark

    Mark 16 chapter mention

  130. chapter 16. The Greek word is not the same

  131. Greek word as in Matthew chapter 28.

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  132. In Matthew chapter 28, the word preach from the King James, but

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  133. most other translations use this definition of that Greek word.

  134. Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing

  135. them in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.

  136. Verse 20 Teaching them to what? Observe all that I commanded

  137. you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the

  138. age. So here we see this term

  139. disciple invoked. And if you break this word down,

  140. disciple in the Greek it means to become a pupil.

  141. It also means enroll as a scholar.

  142. It means to follow precepts and instructions.

  143. So in essence, Go has within it the reality of proclaiming and

  144. heralding news from about the King and discipline training to

  145. produce visual results because as a disciple you should have

  146. visible results that you are of God.

  147. It is not something unseen. It's in the unseen, but it

  148. produces in the scene. And This is why people in

  149. Antioch, when they saw the disciples, they labeled them

  150. Christians because they saw something.

  151. They saw something. I remember Pastor David EMI when

  152. he teaches on the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

  153. And with Simon the sorcerer, when Philip went down and

  154. preached and all of a sudden it said that he wanted this gift of

  155. the lane on the hands to receive of the baptism of the Holy

  156. Spirit. He said that Greek word when he

  157. laid hands and people prayed in other tongues.

  158. It has the term having saw. He saw with his eyes and heard

  159. with his ears. So he saw something in

  160. manifestation that came out of a spiritual realm that transformed

  161. that person where they spoke in a tongue not known to them.

  162. Well, the guys that the people at Antioch see this group of

  163. people and they are seeing something about their lives that

  164. is so radically different than theirs.

  165. And probably what they've heard about what Jesus had done or

  166. maybe from other communities where Christ had been priest or

  167. his name and vote. They began to say, well, that's

  168. the studiers of Christ, studiers of the King.

  169. You understand what he say Christ are saying studiers of

  170. the King so there's something that the world should see if you

  171. are a disciple if we're a disciple.

  172. So in essence, if we are a person to go can notice this it

  173. says go into all the world and preach well when you're going.

  174. The reason why you can herald and the formality or the gravity

  175. and the authority by which your words carry that should be

  176. listened to and obeyed is because they see what you preach

  177. happens in your life. You're actually a reflection of

  178. what you're talking about because you understand there's

  179. nothing worse than saying without producing.

  180. And this is where Jesus kept rebuking the Pharisees.

  181. He said do what they say, but do not do what they do.

  182. They Harold me, but they don't do me.

  183. And he never called a Pharisee a disciple.

  184. So that tells me knowledge of God's Word alone does not make

  185. you a disciple. In fact, knowledge alone of

  186. God's Word not applied will make you a Pharisee.

  187. In fact, knowledge of God's Word that you do not apply will cause

  188. you to put your opinion on God's Word and teach it as precepts of

  189. men instead of commands of God. And This is why we have what we

  190. have on social media today. Everybody has their own truth

  191. about Scripture. Well, I'm glad it's your truth,

  192. but you're not the truth. Come on now.

  193. No, he's the truth, the way and the life.

  194. Hallelujah. Smith Wigglesworth said this.

  195. He said there is a time coming that it will be difficult for

  196. believers to receive healing because of the advancement of

  197. medical science. In essence, he said he was

  198. saying that because medical science is advancing, they'll

  199. put more trust there first before they go to God.

  200. Now, there's nothing wrong with medical science and there's

  201. nothing wrong with going to the hospital.

  202. There's nothing wrong with finding out what's going on with

  203. you. No issue.

  204. But here's what we do know. By his stripes, ye were healed

  205. and that is reality. But you understand, when there's

  206. other opportunities out there, then sometimes we won't get as

  207. firmly persuaded when we need that firm persuasion, because

  208. even if you go to the doctor, you need a firm persuasion.

  209. Are you hearing me? The same thing is happening

  210. today, that there are so many voices out there that believers

  211. are having a hard time hearing the spirit without some kind of

  212. confirmation. And we are taking kind of a step

  213. back because if you need a word from someone outside of the Holy

  214. Ghost in you to act on a situation, well, I'm going to

  215. act now because someone confirmed.

  216. You need to continue to develop what you're hearing on the

  217. inside. Are you hearing what I'm saying?

  218. So in essence, to go, we should actually be reflecting Matthew

  219. 38, Matthew 38. John said it this way.

  220. He said therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

  221. This is the essence of a disciple.

  222. A disciple is someone who has repented and then produces the

  223. fruit of which they have repented from.

  224. One changed their thinking and gone to another way of thinking,

  225. another way of living, and it produced that kind of living in

  226. their lives. And again, John is talking to

  227. religious people when he makes this statement.

  228. He's saying to them, you're talking a talk.

  229. I see no fruit from now in today's society.

  230. We have taken going to all the world and preach the gospel and

  231. we said I will do you know Jesus says your Lord, Do you know if

  232. you if you were to die today, would you go to heaven?

  233. Do you know that you know where would these are the kind of

  234. questions we ask, you know, because you know, you need to

  235. know where you're going to go when you die.

  236. This is how we sell good news. This is how we have caused the

  237. gospel to become right. Do you know where you're going

  238. to go when you die? Well, that's good news.

  239. Let's talk about my death. I mean, just understand the

  240. premise here, right? You, Jesus Christ, and then we

  241. insert truth, right? Jesus came, He died for your

  242. sin. Everyone has sinned and he's

  243. paid the price and his blood is forgiven you.

  244. If you'll just call on the Lord, you'll be saved.

  245. You understand if someone doesn't, they're going to be

  246. born again, even if that's how you sold this thing, if that's

  247. how you, you know, presented Jesus, right?

  248. So then we say now, you know, so pray this prayer with me.

  249. And so they pray with you and say, now you're born again.

  250. You know, you're going to go to heaven when you die.

  251. And then we walk off. We're like, oh, glory to God.

  252. But where in these two verses put up Mark 16 real quick so

  253. they can see it Mark 16 and let's read it real fast because

  254. again, it's Mark 16 that people get really upset about or they

  255. use the most going all the world and preach the Gospel.

  256. He can walk. I could walk away and say I did

  257. that. But let's go over to Matthew

  258. because the second witness of going or what we are supposed to

  259. do says go, therefore make disciples.

  260. Well, now the minute I walk away, I didn't make a disciple,

  261. but I do have a convert supposedly say supposedly.

  262. Now if God has changed this individual, well then I know

  263. this is what the Holy Spirit does when he moves in.

  264. Because when the Holy Spirit moves in, the Bible is very

  265. clear what the Holy Spirit does. The only thing we tend to

  266. present to them is that the Holy Spirit, you're going to receive

  267. the Holy Spirit. You're going to be the temple of

  268. the Holy Ghost. He's going to bear witness with

  269. your that you are a child of God.

  270. Stop there. But you know what?

  271. He doesn't stop there. The Holy Spirit would then say

  272. this to a brand new believer. Now you need to not forsake the

  273. assembling of yourself together. You need to go to church because

  274. I've called you to be a student. I am your teacher and I'm going

  275. to teach you through gifts that are in the body.

  276. It's called the fivefold ministry.

  277. You need to get in church. Pastor Mike has testified this

  278. on more than one occasion when he really got born again.

  279. No one, no one had to beg him to come to church.

  280. And he's only been in three churches his whole life.

  281. The one he was born again or even he got born again.

  282. He went to that church and he only left that church because

  283. God said go get trained for ministry.

  284. So then he went to Rhema where he got trained for ministry and

  285. went to the church associated with that.

  286. And then he stayed there until the Lord said, I'm going to

  287. release your gifted anchor Faith Church.

  288. And he's come here and he here he is.

  289. You see what I'm saying? So his moves were not well.

  290. You know, I'm kind of bored of this church.

  291. I'm going to go somewhere else. Well, this church has offended

  292. me. I'm going to go somewhere else.

  293. He went as directed by the Lord to the place where it deploys

  294. him. I mean, he would have stayed in

  295. Ohio his whole life had the Lord not say, go somewhere to be

  296. trained because I have more for you than just this particular

  297. role. I've got things to release, but

  298. in order to release, I need to train you further.

  299. So. So Pastor Mike had already

  300. started a process of discipleship through Ed Cole's

  301. stuff when he was, you know, in Ohio and learning how to be a

  302. man that is called discipleship. Then he went on to learn how to

  303. be a minister of the gospel and understand doctrine so that he

  304. could then do what he's doing today, which is minister to word

  305. to you and been doing it in this location for 21 years.

  306. Wow, how amazing is that? I mean these are the kind of

  307. examples you want to follow, not church hoppers, not people who

  308. run to 1 conference to the next. You want to find people who get

  309. rooted, grounded and know who they are in the word.

  310. That's what a disciple looks like.

  311. But we have replaced disciple with Christian and because we

  312. like Christian that we just define as I asked Jesus to come

  313. into my heart and save me, which Antioch did not define it that

  314. way. Antioch unbelievers defined it

  315. as a follower of Christ that did the works of Christ, not someone

  316. who asked Jesus in their heart and save them.

  317. So when they die, they go to heaven.

  318. Now why do I have to teach like this?

  319. Because we've come to the place in the world where this is not

  320. being taught. This is the only reason I have

  321. an obligation to stay with the word.

  322. And then when you really stay with the word, it looks a lot

  323. different than what's being said, right?

  324. And again, we're not here to offend.

  325. We're here to empower. Because when you actually grow

  326. as a believer, it'd change your life.

  327. Let me read you this story by Hubbard.

  328. He said this, he said here a story or a parable in a delight

  329. in a delightful bit of country. Early 1 summer morning I walked

  330. out to be refreshed by the pure sweet air and sight of fields

  331. and woods, grasses and flowers, beasts and birds, when

  332. pleasantly I came upon an orchard into which I entered.

  333. The trees were beautiful to behold, The air was fragrant,

  334. the fruit was abundant, and wandering on almost enchant, on

  335. almost enchanted, until my great wander, I came upon a tree

  336. having neither bloom nor fruit. I was so painfully impressed

  337. that without any thought of hurting or giving offense as to

  338. myself, I said, You poor lost tree, what can you, what can you

  339. be doing here? I marveled.

  340. You are not removed. Upon which, to my astonishment,

  341. the tree replied not without tardiness.

  342. Oh indeed, Sir, indeed. No doubt you think you are wise,

  343. wise above your father's. You think you know much more

  344. things, I dare say. But you are in are in a great

  345. mistake. I am neither poor nor lost.

  346. Well, I said, you have neither leaves nor fruit, and I should

  347. judge no SAP. What has this to do with that?

  348. It broke out. Your ignorance is inexcusable.

  349. The tree said you seem not to know that a great Savior of

  350. trees have been down here and I have believed his gospel, and I

  351. am saved by grace. I have accepted salvation as a

  352. free gift, and though I have neither leaves nor fruit, I am

  353. saved all the same. I looked at it with pity and

  354. said, you are a poor deluded tree.

  355. You are not saved at all. You are only a dead good for

  356. nothing tree. Despite all your talk about

  357. grace and redemption, the only salvation you can ever know is

  358. to be made living and fruit bearing life.

  359. That is salvation. When I come to see you laden

  360. with fruit or even showing signs of leaves, I will say, ah, that

  361. poor tree is saved at last. It shall receive the IT.

  362. It has received the gospel, and is saved by grace.

  363. As I turned away, I heard it say, You are, you are not sound,

  364. you do not understand the gospel.

  365. And I thought so It is. As with the trees, so with men.

  366. They talk as if grace and salvation were something God

  367. keeps from them outside themselves, and will not

  368. understand nor believe that he who is saved, he who takes

  369. Christ fully and rest on his atoning work alone, is made free

  370. from sin, and has fruit unto holiness.

  371. We have accepted that salvation and grace has no need of fruit

  372. bearing when fruit bearing is proof that we are.

  373. Yeah, that's right. That's right.

  374. Yeah, it is proof that we are and we easily not to offend

  375. except people going around saying that they are born again

  376. and born of God and all these things.

  377. Yet when you encounter them at work, when you encounter them

  378. at, you know, events, you encounter them at restaurants or

  379. wherever and you've been around them and then all of a sudden

  380. you're ready to witness to them and then they tell you all

  381. they're born again. You're like, I never would have

  382. known by your lifestyle. And yet too many except that

  383. they are. Now I can hear the critics right

  384. now on podcast. Oh man, you're judging, you're

  385. judging, you're judging. I'm not judging.

  386. I am examining fruit. At the end of the day, fruit.

  387. Don't take my word for it though.

  388. Let's look at John chapter 15 because again, I'm not saying

    John 15 chapter mention

  389. something that the word is not saying.

  390. Look at John chapter 15 and verse 16.

    John 15 chapter mention

  391. Jesus said Jesus said say Jesus who said this?

  392. Jesus said you did not choose me but I boy that's true isn't it?

  393. You didn't earn it. You couldn't have worked for it,

  394. couldn't have done anything. In fact he chose you.

  395. You couldn't even come to his Kingdom unless he drawed you by

  396. a spirit. He said you didn't choose me,

  397. but I chose you. Now did he just choose you?

  398. Does it have an and So what does and mean?

  399. It means also you didn't choose me, but I chose you and

  400. appointed you that you would you would what go?

  401. There's that word and and bear fruit.

  402. So Jesus expects you to man and I could preach on all kinds of

  403. parables talking about fruit bearing right now.

  404. I can give tons of examples. Gave 151211.

  405. He expected it produce 5 produce 52 produce 21 buried gave back

  406. what he had and he called him wicked and lazy.

  407. He did not lose a thing, right? He received from the father what

  408. he did not have himself, yet gave back the father the very

  409. thing he received from the father that he did not earn.

  410. Oh, you don't want to hear this, but because there was number

  411. interest, no kind of production farmer goes in, spend three

  412. years, there's trees nowhere producing fruit.

  413. He says to this gardener, cut it down.

  414. Tired of it taking resource out of the ground when it's not

  415. going to do what it was called to do, He said hold back, give

  416. me one more year. I'll dig around it, fertilize it

  417. and give it another shot to bear fruit.

  418. But if it doesn't, we'll cut it down.

  419. Oh, y'all don't want to hear this, Matthew?

  420. John 15 goes on and says what it says.

  421. Man, you are going to bear fruit, and he'll prune you so

  422. that in the next season you'll bear what?

  423. More fruit? But if that branch bears no

  424. fruit, he cuts it off and discards it.

  425. The branch is of the tree which has the roots, and the roots are

  426. Christ. He said I'm the bond and you are

  427. the branches. If a man remains in me, he'll

  428. bear. Not if a man remains in me,

  429. he'll bear nothing, but he goes to heaven.

  430. He just should be excited. He's attached.

  431. And we are turning the Great Commission into a destination

  432. with no responsibility for fruit bearing.

  433. And we want to talk about great revivals.

  434. Then we need to have a great revival.

  435. Well, what we need is we need a revival of disciples first in

  436. order to get a revival of the lost.

  437. Because a disciple, when they herald, there's power and

  438. authority behind it because they're living what they're

  439. preaching as opposed to someone who is preaching something

  440. they're not living. Because it's easy for me to wait

  441. to receive Jesus when the one telling me about Jesus lives

  442. life like I live. Because you're selling me hopes

  443. of what happens after I die that it's obvious has no change of

  444. what you're doing right now. Say Amen anyway.

  445. Said you did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you

  446. that you would go and bear fruit and that your fruit would remain

  447. so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, I may give it

  448. to you. Again jumping back up to verse

  449. seven and eight of the same chapter, he said, if you abide

  450. in me and my words abiding you ask whatever you wish and it

  451. will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this,

  452. by what that you bear much fruit and here it is.

  453. So prove I don't I don't have nothing to prove to you.

  454. I asked Jesus into my heart to save me.

  455. I'm a Christian too. Well, prove me your prove you're

  456. a disciple. I should see the proof of your

  457. discipleship, he says. You want to know if they're my

  458. disciples, they can prove it to you and it isn't proving it to

  459. me because at 10 years old you came down and asked Jesus Christ

  460. to come into your heart and save you.

  461. That's no proof. Oh y'all don't want that's no

  462. proof. Listen, let us not some people

  463. may be on their track. The hell the enemy has done such

  464. a great job of trying to paralyze Saints from holding

  465. other Saints accountable to behavior.

  466. You're a disciple. Why you gossiping right now?

  467. You a disciple? Why you slandering right now?

  468. You a disciple? Why you lying right now?

  469. You a disciple? Why you backbiting right now?

  470. Oh, don't talk, don't you? Why are you not producing the

  471. fruit that comes with repentance?

  472. Because that's not a disciple and you calling yourself a

  473. Christian. I can go find lost that do

  474. better do a do a job that do that.

  475. They don't even do a job as good as you do.

  476. Are you hearing me? What did Paul say concerning the

  477. man who was in the church sleeping with his father's life?

  478. He said even the world's not doing this, and you're like and

  479. like, he's your brother. We don't know the first thing

  480. about the love of God when we act like this.

  481. We should be living, breathing fruit bearing examples that

  482. really other believers should. Why is it that today's Saints

  483. are so weak and feeble that when they get around a true disciple,

  484. they're so intimidated? It's because they've been sold

  485. lies that they're a disciple, but they know they don't measure

  486. up because they don't have the fruit, he says.

  487. If if you abide in me, if it's a conditional statement, am I?

  488. So being born again doesn't mean you abide in.

  489. Abiding in is effort. You have to discipline yourself

  490. to be in him, meaning in the Word, your Spirit man is in

  491. Christ. I have no problem with that.

  492. But if it is in Christ, it will listen to the Holy Spirit and

  493. the Holy Spirit says you need to renew your mind.

  494. You need to become a student of the Word.

  495. You need to allow the fruit of the Word to produce in your

  496. life. When I was talking to Pastor Jay

  497. when I was going to the airport, he said, Pastor Earl, I realized

  498. more and more and more today we need to be making disciples

  499. because missionaries ran over into other countries and just

  500. told them about Jesus and said, where are you going to go when

  501. you die? Make Jesus the Lord of your

  502. life, repent of your sins and then left.

  503. And the only message they told the these born again people go

  504. start churches and tell them that Jesus Christ died for their

  505. sins. And though that's true, that's

  506. not discipleship. He goes, Pastor Earl, when do

  507. you know you have a disciple? I said, because they are a doer

  508. of the Word. It produces the behavior in

  509. their life that when challenges come, they do the Word, not what

  510. the world does. They respond from the Word, not

  511. from the world. That's when you know, so he

  512. said, abiding me and my words, abiding you.

  513. The reason why today's Saints struggle so much is because

  514. first and foremost, they're not even in the Bible.

  515. Now I did not grab this statistic, but I do know it's

  516. extremely low. I think it may be even less than

  517. 10% of believers, so-called Christians that read the

  518. Scripture. They don't even read scripture.

  519. The single greatest success of the environment of Anchor Faith

  520. Church has been that we read the Bible.

  521. That's been our single greatest success.

  522. On Sunday, June the 15th, Father's Day, we had a guest in

  523. our service. I mean we have guests that come,

  524. but this particular guest was a student pastor, a youth pastor

  525. of a church and he text my son and it said this my name is

  526. Ashton, I serve as a student pastor of a church in

  527. Clarksville, TN. My wife had the chance to visit

  528. Anchor Faith on the 15th while we were in route to our vacation

  529. spot and came back with nothing but great things to say.

  530. I was honestly bummed I didn't get to meet you and your team as

  531. you were headed out for camp. Heading out for camp, but the

  532. hospitality at your church was spot on.

  533. Regardless, I just wanted to take a moment to encourage you.

  534. What God is doing through Anchor Faith in your student ministry

  535. is truly powerful. We were blessed by the warmth

  536. and presence of your church family and I pray it's just the

  537. beginning. I'm praying the half has not yet

  538. been told over Anchor Faith. I'd love to stay in touch with

  539. you and make myself available, encourage one another and see

  540. how their students can support our students and partner in any

  541. way. Much love to you and your team.

  542. Now, why is that? Because you are proving to be a

  543. disciple. Hallelujah.

  544. Hallelujah. It becomes proof of your

  545. discipleship because people come in and they begin to hear your

  546. environment, see the environment.

  547. When Sonny Matthews and his wife Stephanie came and they've been,

  548. you know, she's been doing ministry, traveling with her

  549. father all over the world, done a lot in India.

  550. She leaves worship in her own church.

  551. And both of them together do a phenomenal job worshiping the

  552. Lord. In fact, they're on a process

  553. right now because you cannot convert people in India to be

  554. followers of Christ. So they are cracking down on

  555. evangelism there. So one thing that's still

  556. acceptable, you can't say, you can't have anyone, say, confess

  557. Jesus Christ as Lord in India legally, nor can you eat beef in

  558. India legally. He'll go to jail for that.

  559. With that being said, Sonny is now writing songs that are

  560. straight from scripture that are communicating Jesus is Lord and

  561. it through music. The government is accepting it

  562. and churches are being so hindered that they are wanting

  563. this music because they're using it as the evangelistic tool to

  564. see people come into the Lord. OK, we have a nation open and we

  565. want us. Persecution tries to limit a

  566. message. Yet in the most persecuted

  567. nations, the churches are the best attended.

  568. Sayla. That means pause and think on

  569. these things. We're in a nation that we can go

  570. line upon line, precept upon precept.

  571. Oh my goodness, are you hearing what I'm saying?

  572. And the reason why people are going to be shaken in the last

  573. days is because they're not abiding.

  574. They've accepted this traditional thought of

  575. Christianity. I asked Jesus into my heart to

  576. save me. I'm a Christian.

  577. I know I'm going to go to heaven when I die.

  578. Jesus never once said go and convert people so they'll know

  579. where they go when they die. He said go make disciples.

  580. They're going to have to abide. They're going to have to.

  581. They're going to need to grow and grow and grow and I should

  582. see fruit because God's not mocked.

  583. You must produce the fruit of the Kingdom in your life.

  584. The disciples understood the gravity of Mark 16 and Mark

  585. Matthew 28 when Jesus said go make disciples.

  586. Because Jesus has talked about the cost of disciples earlier in

  587. Luke chapter 14, verses 25 to 27.

    Luke 14:25–27

  588. What does it mean to be a disciple #1 You're a studier of

  589. the Word that produces the fruit of the Word in your life, not

  590. just a confessor that Jesus is Lord.

  591. It is manifest fruit, but he goes on, and this is what

  592. discipleship looks like. Jesus said there's now a large

  593. crowd. Jesus was around.

  594. He said now a large crowd, we're going to along with him.

  595. You know what? Most churches are just going

  596. along with Jesus. Going along with Jesus is not

  597. the same as following him. I know when someone's going

  598. along with Jesus because they go along to this church, to that

  599. concert, to this conference, to this, but yet I see no fruit.

  600. They're going along and Jesus has some people just going

  601. along. So he wanted to say, well, if

  602. you're going to follow me, let me define that.

  603. Now who's going to define it? Do we define it?

  604. So when someone said, now look, come on brother, now you know,

  605. if you just ask Jesus in your heart and save your disciple,

  606. you can say, come on, brother, you haven't read the Bible and

  607. you are deluded when I look, I didn't earn this thing.

  608. You can't earn it by doing a bunch of works.

  609. I'm not doing works. I'm living by faith, producing

  610. fruit. What are you doing?

  611. Because again, man will try man in the flesh, carnal man, and

  612. the world will try to get you to live the lowest possible form so

  613. that you're not much different from them.

  614. And I'm, I'm amazed that Saints accept it, but the only reason

  615. you will accept that narrative is because you're not in the

  616. word to challenge the narrative, he said.

  617. If conditional statement anyone comes to me and does not hate

  618. his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers

  619. and sisters. Jeez, this is heavy talking,

  620. bro. I mean, this kind of preaching

  621. does not make it in 98% of churches in the United States

  622. today. This is our bothering plan.

  623. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a strong word, man.

  624. You should hate anyone. Well, then why is Jesus using

  625. the term? Oh, y'all want to hear this?

  626. I want to close. I want to finish.

  627. I don't want to get back and preach super long if anyone

  628. comes to me and does not hate now.

  629. He's not like saying I hate you, I'm never going to be around

  630. you. He's saying my relationship with

  631. my father, my mother, my wife, my children, my brothers and

  632. sisters compared to him looks like I hate them.

  633. They never take precedent of my Lord.

  634. He goes on to say yes and even his own life.

  635. Which means I don't even have the liberty to say, man, I just

  636. wish I could. This is how I want to live.

  637. I can't even love my life like that.

  638. If you don't hate your father, mother, wife, children,

  639. brothers, sisters and yes, even your own life, he can not be my

  640. disciple. Now who says this?

  641. Who said this? I did not say this.

  642. He said this. Yet we have plenty of Saints

  643. telling you that you look, there is things going around in the

  644. church well today that say sound like this.

  645. Now, look, we don't want to do too much because you know,

  646. people have another life. They have a life outside the

  647. church now. Well, you know, that sounds good

  648. and it sounds like you're even being compassionate and so

  649. caring, but that's not how Jesus framed discipleship.

  650. Now, first and foremost, you're not going to spend your ever

  651. living moment in this building anyway.

  652. But if you compared how much time and opportunities for you

  653. to grow and be discipled and have discipleship by which then

  654. you go out and do here, it's still you have a lot of time on

  655. your own that you manage, but that still should be his.

  656. That's right. Well now, man, these pastors are

  657. just pushing them too hard. Well, you're not following Jesus

  658. and I'm not. I'm not pushing like I'm telling

  659. you, I'm not pushing like Jesus. Whoever does not carry his own

  660. cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

  661. And he said go and make disciples.

  662. He didn't say go make converts, go make, go make disciples.

  663. Discipleship has a call. Then jump down to verse 33.

  664. He says this. So then none of you can be my

  665. disciple who does not give up all his own possession.

  666. I'm not saying go sell everything and sit here and say

  667. pastor, I sold everything. I'm just here.

  668. That's not. He's saying, in comparison,

  669. there's nothing you possess that possesses you.

  670. So when you get connected to God, who is the head of the

  671. church, which is the body of Christ by which you are part of,

  672. and when the king or the head of the church begins to say as a

  673. body, I want you to do this. Well, you do, because that's

  674. what disciples do. Then you produce the fruit of

  675. what All that is, not negotiate. Well, you know, we we come a

  676. lot. I mean, I'm here every Sunday,

  677. surely. Well, you know, they're doing

  678. another event. Come on.

  679. Well, I would go, but the game's on now.

  680. Again, no problem. I understand there's thing.

  681. No, I'm not. I'm just saying you have to ask

  682. the question. Is there anything in your own

  683. life that you know you'll put before the call of God?

  684. And that's a problem because God sees you as sold out to him.

  685. Now understand this, God has us in every sector of society.

  686. And as a result of that, you're being an example in front of

  687. them. Because if you don't have enough

  688. time in the church and serving the church that people see you

  689. acquainted with the church, they should be asking like, why are

  690. you always there? It's a fruit because I'm around

  691. my King and his children and we love it not because we have to,

  692. but because I chose to be a disciple, not a casual pass

  693. through living the American dream, expecting the Kingdom of

  694. heaven. Let me close with this verse.

  695. John 831 to 32 says this. So Jesus was saying to those

  696. Jews who believed him. If you continue in my word,

  697. again, conditional statement, you are truly disciples of mine

  698. and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.

  699. The reason why many Saints are not free today.

  700. Why are they not free of depression?

  701. Why are they not free to of worry and doubt?

  702. Why are they not free of of needing to be known, needing to

  703. be heard? Why are they not free from the

  704. cares of life? Well, it's because they don't

  705. continue. They've accepted that they're a

  706. disciple by mere fact. They ask Jesus to save them when

  707. it's a disciple that is in the Word, allowing the Word to

  708. transform their thinking, their behavior, their thoughts, so

  709. that then they produce the fruit.

  710. And that fruit is letting everyone know you're free.

  711. No more bondage. No more bondage.

  712. Cause true disciples are not bound to the things of the

  713. world, to substance. They're not bound to images,

  714. they're not bound to behaviors, they're not bound to

  715. generational issues because they're a disciple.

  716. So the Great Commission was never for us to go into all the

  717. world and tell people about a Jesus we don't live.

  718. It was only to go into a world to tell people about a Jesus we

  719. serve and have the fruit of serving him.

  720. And you cannot have the fruit of serving Him if you are not a

  721. studier of the Word and submit yourself to it on a continual

  722. basis. You'll never know enough about

  723. God that you can stop because the minute you do, He becomes

  724. knowledge and not revelation. He becomes a seed that you leave

  725. on a shelf and it doesn't produce a plant that has the

  726. opportunity to produce fruit. The.
