  1. Would you stand with me as we read the first passage of

  2. Scripture again? We do this and I won't do it

  3. every time, but you know, just here at the at the beginning,

  4. just to remind everyone why we do this.

  5. This is not a religious tradition we are established in.

  6. This is an honor of the reading of the Word of God for Ezra,

  7. Ezra, Ezra. When he pulled out the word and

  8. began to minister it to the nation of Israel who had been in

  9. captivity for 70 years, they had recognized their rebellion

  10. against God were God's word was absence from God's Word.

  11. And when the reading of God's word took place, they stood

  12. while he read. We know that the Bible says that

  13. in the beginning was the Word in the Word was with God, the Word

  14. was God. And we know that John 114, it

  15. says in the Word became flesh, which means then Jesus Christ is

  16. the Word. And would we not honor our King?

  17. And you know, when I was in the service, they did a thing called

  18. attention to orders. And so, you know, even though

  19. the commanding officer or whoever spoke this, it could

  20. have been the governor for that matter, because I was in the

  21. Florida National Guard, could have issued orders to our unit.

  22. And so they would read on the on behalf of that person's name.

  23. And even though they weren't present, we were at attention to

  24. hear what we are being commanded to do.

  25. And do you understand? So we are exercising this by

  26. saying we honor the King who sits at the throne of God, who

  27. is the Lord of our lives. And Lord is not a religious word

  28. that means supreme and authority.

  29. And so Jesus is Lord, Amen. And so we do it just for the

  30. first passage, then you do not have to do it for every time, or

  31. you would stand the whole service, Amen.

  32. And that would not cause me to preach shorter just 'cause

  33. you're standing. So for your benefit, we allow

  34. you to sit down, Amen. In First Corinthians Chapter 11,

    1 Corinthians 11 chapter mention

  35. verse one and two, it says this be imitators of me just as I

  36. also am of Christ. Now I praise you because you

  37. Remember Me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions

  38. just as I delivered them to you. You can be seated.

  39. Now Paul, we use this scripture last week when we were talking

  40. about spiritual fathers that Paul was having a conversation

  41. with his church concerning you. You you have many tutors, but

  42. you do not have many fathers. And so we qualified who actually

  43. can be a spiritual father. Not everyone can be a spiritual

  44. father. And this is one of those

  45. statements that is thrown around within the church so casually,

  46. yet we do not have discernment of what it really means.

  47. And so we took the time to dissect that last week.

  48. And one thing we concluded at the end is that ultimately Paul

  49. is saying, if I am the one who planted you as a congregation,

  50. I'm the one who's labored the most to see Christ formed in

  51. you. And I'm the one that is saying

  52. I'm following Christ, follow me, imitate my example.

  53. And so he says here to the Corinthian church that once

  54. again, my life is to to, to live in such a way that you imitate

  55. me. And I'm going to tell you that

  56. is a powerful statement that Paul would say.

  57. I believe by faith that I can walk with the Lord so well that

  58. you could imitate my life. You know, there's a lot of

  59. people today that do not want to put themselves out like that.

  60. Can we make mistakes? Absolutely.

  61. But you understand, Paul lived at such a level that any mistake

  62. that he's made is is. So what's the word I want to

  63. use? It's not often right.

  64. One of his mistakes was this, he said I did not bring collect an

  65. offering from you. I worked outside of you.

  66. You know, I did this so that you know, you wouldn't, you know,

  67. say certain things about me concerning finance.

  68. He later on said, forgive me of this wrong because there was a

  69. spiritual principle of sowing and reaping that he in essence

  70. was saying do not sow to me. And he recognized that that

  71. principle was more important than the persecution that's

  72. going to show up from some people when they will say, well,

  73. he's only there for an offering. Because you understand that is

  74. the testimony of a lot of people about churches today.

  75. And are there churches that are just trying to get your money?

  76. Absolutely. But not every church is trying

  77. to do that, nor every minister. You know, just cause one person

  78. doesn't do it right does not mean not everyone's doing it

  79. right. Amen.

  80. Hallelujah. And so, you know, has anyone

  81. encountered a bad employer? Well, we do not quit working

  82. because, you know, well, I have this.

  83. You'll change. John.

  84. I left that one because they were no good.

  85. Well, don't think there's not going to be some bad people over

  86. here, but you don't you don't quit pursuing certain things

  87. just because you had one bad experience are multiple ones for

  88. that matter. In fact, I would say with the

  89. body of Christ, you know, you may run across some things less

  90. because there is a remnant. Not everyone is aspiring to

  91. spiritual maturity and in our and in our society, meaning the

  92. Western society, the majority of us only hear about Jesus in the

  93. perspective of where will I go when I die?

  94. And that's the extent of the relationship is I just want to

  95. know where I'm going to go when I die instead of hearing Lord,

  96. how do I live for you today? I'm serving you right now and

  97. you know when I die takes care of it because you're my Lord and

  98. you're my Lord today, not only in heaven.

  99. So receiving Jesus was not about where you go when you die.

  100. Receiving Jesus was about becoming someone now, and

  101. walking into that, Paul was so confident that you could imitate

  102. me because I am going to imitate Christ.

  103. Which tells us something about spiritual fathers is they really

  104. walk in the fear of the Lord. They're so concerned about doing

  105. something that would not please the Father and so they're very

  106. careful with their life. However, you know, we spent time

  107. talking about that. We're going to talk about the

  108. sons today. And so I find it interesting

  109. because I did not use verse two last time that he goes on and

  110. says, I praise you talking to the church, which are his

  111. children, the one he planted in Corinth.

  112. He says, because you Remember Me and everything he goes on to

  113. say, you hold firmly to the tradition.

  114. Now Paul is obviously not saying traditions like we talk about

  115. traditions with Jesus. Jesus said this about religious

  116. leader. He said, why do you forsake the

  117. commandments of God for the sake of your traditions?

  118. So when Paul's saying traditions here, he is saying the tradition

  119. of you following closely the word of God.

  120. This is the tradition he's establishing is that you're

  121. going to follow God, you're going to follow his words,

  122. you're going to live the behavior, the culture, the

  123. again, behavior of the Kingdom of God.

  124. Our tradition is that we are fully submitted to the to the

  125. king of glory. So that's what Paul's saying.

  126. He's not replacing the word of God with a tradition.

  127. He has modeled a lifestyle in front of them that they can say,

  128. I can do this. I'll use Pastor Mike as an

  129. example. As you know, Pastor Mike is

  130. extremely disciplined in his health.

  131. And so, you know, he can model a tradition for you how to be

  132. healthy. He can model it in how you eat.

  133. He can model it in how you go to the gym.

  134. He can model it in muscle growth and grow muscles again what he

  135. you may not look like him, but you can model the tradition of

  136. the truths concerning physical well-being and you would have a

  137. result yourself. Now that's just in the natural,

  138. how much more Paul was saying, listen, I have a habit by which

  139. I am seeking first the Kingdom of God.

  140. And if you watch me and model it, you can grow like I grew.

  141. And this is really important. You know, sometimes I wish we

  142. would do a reality TV and it wouldn't be a goofy one.

  143. It'd be a real one of how we actually deal with stuff because

  144. we're not different here than we are everywhere.

  145. We want you to follow the example.

  146. So again, sons be remember, it's really important.

  147. They remember what they're being taught and they want to model

  148. the spiritual Father. Now, when I say this, let's say

  149. it in its very clear form. So you understand, even though

  150. we're going to use humans on the earth that walk as spiritual

  151. fathers, none of them are replacing the Heavenly Father.

  152. In fact, a true spiritual father will have you following only the

  153. Heavenly Father. Even though you're following

  154. that person and the way they live life, you're only doing it

  155. because they're modeling how to actually do do it with the

  156. Father. And when that person's actually

  157. not around your, that example has allowed you to stay closely

  158. connected to your heavenly Father in heaven.

  159. Because when I say spiritual sons, we are all spiritual

  160. children of the Father in heaven, Amen.

  161. But let me tell you this, they're identifiable what they

  162. look like. You can't just claim sonship

  163. unless you model sonship. All right?

  164. Now why do I say that? Look at what it says in Hebrews

    Hebrews 12 chapter mention

  165. chapter 12. And I read this only in

  166. excerpts. Last time I think I started

  167. maybe in verse nine. It was verse 9.

  168. I think I went 9:00 to 11:00 or 9:00 to 9:00 and 10:00.

  169. But we're going to start in verse 5 and it says this.

  170. And you have forgotten the exhortation, which is addressed

  171. to you as what? Now?

  172. This is exhortation. Are you ready, my son?

  173. Do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor

  174. faint when you are reproved by him.

  175. What is that? Is exhortation.

  176. OK, everybody, smile me help you.

  177. This means, you know, because this happens to me sometimes.

  178. You know, I say, hey, I need to meet with you.

  179. Oh, I feel like I'm in trouble. Why?

  180. And even if you were in a place that I need to reprove you, you

  181. should see that as exhortation. I mean, he literally says, have

  182. you forgotten the exhortation? Now, nobody sees exhortation as

  183. negative. Oh, they're exhorting me.

  184. You know, they're, they're helping me.

  185. Oh, they're lifting me up. You know what?

  186. When discipline and reproof comes, it's lifting you up.

  187. It's actually not putting you down.

  188. It's lifting you up. Why?

  189. Because discipline and reproof is coming because you're already

  190. somewhere that we're trying to get you out of.

  191. It's not to push you down more because if I if my correctional

  192. reproof is pushing you down more, well then I'm in error.

  193. But pointing out issues and then communicating A pathway to come

  194. out is actually an exhortation or lifting up out Say Amen

  195. anyway. So I need all my mature ones to

  196. connect with me right now in service.

  197. Please do so for those whom the Lord what for those who the Lord

  198. he, what does he do? He does not let you do whatever

  199. you want to do in His house. Now in the world you can do

  200. whatever you want to do, but you will be accountable to whatever

  201. you do. And the Lord is the standard.

  202. See, when you get into His house, when you willfully submit

  203. to Jesus as Lord, when you say Lord, I was lost, dead without

  204. you. I want to be in a relationship

  205. with you. I want you to be Lord of my life

  206. saved me from this life of sin, this place that would keep me

  207. separated. Listen, receiving Jesus not

  208. about staying out of hell. That's not the intent.

  209. I don't want to go to hell. Well, who wants to go to hell?

  210. It's about relationship. Why would someone say, well, I'm

  211. going to hell? It's because they do not want

  212. the relationship with God because you cannot have a father

  213. without relationship. And there are many absentee

  214. fathers in our nation in the natural.

  215. There are those that have divorced and never followed up

  216. and they're like, I don't even have, you know, someone helped

  217. you be in the earth. And many of them, even though

  218. they've never been around, still want their approval in the

  219. natural. How much more a Heavenly Father

  220. that's never been absent. Just 'cause you don't see him

  221. doesn't mean he's not around. Always, always and man, He's

  222. doing everything he can to get you into his family.

  223. Do you understand? Jesus said this just so we can

  224. qualify because in God's original intent, God made man in

  225. his image according to his likeness.

  226. Romans or Genesis 126. However, when Adam ate the

  227. fruit, he was no longer of the nature of God and he produced

  228. after his own kind of which Jesus said to the religious

  229. people, You are of your father the devil.

  230. He didn't say we're all God's loving people.

  231. He did not. He did not qualify everyone as

  232. God's loving people. What he qualified is your

  233. daddy's the devil, but you can have a new dad.

  234. You can have the original dad. In order to have the original

  235. dad, you must be born again. So again, when we say God is

  236. everywhere, he is, but not everyone's in his family.

  237. In fact, right now on the planet more not in his family that are

  238. in his family. So presently speaking on planet

  239. Earth, the father has less children here than the devil

  240. does. OK, So Jesus, when you come into

  241. the family, he's saying now you cannot live like you want to

  242. live. There's a standard in the house.

  243. And here's the thing, I've made you so you can meet the

  244. standard. And this is not earned because

  245. you're in the house. By the grace of God, through

  246. faith and the finished work of Jesus, He gave you the Spirit

  247. you could have never acquired on your own.

  248. You become a new creature in Christ.

  249. But once you become a new creature in Christ, then he puts

  250. the Holy Ghost on the inside of you.

  251. It bears witness with your spirit.

  252. You are a child of God. Then the Holy Ghost says, now we

  253. go get your mind to act like a child of the King.

  254. It's time to turn it all around. And there's no excuse for you

  255. because I have given you the best tutor ever, the greatest

  256. instructor. I have given you the one who

  257. knows the Kingdom inside and out and how the Kingdom functions.

  258. And we're going to change your whole life.

  259. But you have to yield and submit.

  260. You cannot be a defiant child of God.

  261. And Dad, be OK. Well, they're just acting out.

  262. I mean, in the Kingdom of God, there is no terrible twos.

  263. I've been born again for two years.

  264. God's not letting you get away with that stuff.

  265. He is going to discipline you. Why 'cause he, love does not

  266. allow you to do whatever you want to do.

  267. Love does not allow you to do whatever you want to do.

  268. Love disciplines and discipline is set to a standard.

  269. A standard he sets, not us. Same in anyway for whom the

  270. Father loves, He disciplines, and he scourges every son whom

  271. he receives. Well, how does he receive you?

  272. Because you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and

  273. rose from the grave, and you've met you call him Lord of your

  274. life. It is for discipline that you

  275. endure. God deals with you as sons.

  276. For what son is there whom his Father does not discipline?

  277. So it would be a wrong idea to think the Heavenly Father is

  278. hands off. Well, I don't care how they do.

  279. As long as they've asked Jesus in their heart, I don't really

  280. care. That's not scriptural.

  281. That's not how our Heavenly Father is.

  282. Just make sure they ask you to come in their heart and save

  283. you. So when they die, they come see

  284. me. That's all that really matters.

  285. I don't care how they live down there.

  286. They couldn't do anything to earn what I'm about to give them

  287. anyway, and they sure can't live it afterwards.

  288. Don't say that. He's like, they couldn't earn

  289. it. So you're, you're, you've done

  290. the work. Now once they receive you, now

  291. the real fun begins because the ability to conquer and overcome,

  292. they're my child now. They are a totally different

  293. species of being. They're not of this world

  294. anymore. Just like son, you're not of

  295. this world, all right. And it says it's for this we

  296. endure because of discipline. Look at verse 8.

  297. But if you are without discipline, of which all have

  298. become partakers, then you are illegitimate children, not sons,

  299. Sayla. I mean stop and think on these

  300. things. So that means if we are thinking

  301. as a child of God that I should never hear anything that would

  302. correct me, then really what you're saying is I'm

  303. illegitimate. If you want to be in the

  304. congregations that only tell you how awesome you are and will can

  305. never give a word of correction or reproof or rebuke, then

  306. you're qualifying yourself as illegitimate.

  307. OK, Hallelujah. I hear Port St.

  308. Joe shouting loud right now, louder than Saint Augustine.

  309. Thank you, poor Saint Joe, for screaming right now.

  310. Thank you for that. Thank you for that joy of God

  311. that you want to be sons and not illegitimate children.

  312. Amen. I mean, I want the Lord to say,

  313. So what are you doing? What's that?

  314. That's not your nature. That's not how we act.

  315. That's not how we function. Hold on for a minute.

  316. I didn't tell you to go there. I didn't ask you to do that.

  317. You're with me now. I'm life.

  318. Come stay with me. You don't have to do this on

  319. your own. My paths are the best paths.

  320. My yoke is easy. My burden is light.

  321. Are you hearing me OK? So he goes on and says,

  322. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers, we talked about this

  323. last week, who disciplines us. We respect them.

  324. Shall we not much rather be subject to the fathers of

  325. spirits and live, for they discipline us for a short time

  326. as seen best of them. But He disciplines us for our

  327. good, so that we may share his what?

  328. So who's defining what's holy? He is, He defines it.

  329. I do not define it. I have no opinion in the matter.

  330. I always go to my father. What is the thing we're supposed

  331. to do? He said all discipline for a

  332. moment seems to not be joyful. And sure, when you find out that

  333. you just acted away that the Lord's like, yeah, you could

  334. have done better than that. Yeah, I didn't really want that.

  335. Yeah, you're going to have to ask him to forgive you.

  336. That doesn't seem joyful, say, but yet those who have been

  337. trained in it afterwards, it yields the peaceful fruit of

  338. righteousness. Well, who's righteous?

  339. He is. Who sets the standard of what's

  340. right? He does because He is

  341. righteousness. Hallelujah.

  342. And so He disciplines us. And again, why is it that we

  343. think, and many of us, we know what we came out of?

  344. Come on, can I get an Amen? We know what we came out of, and

  345. yet the minute we ask, she's in a heart we like.

  346. We've arrived and he cannot tell us anything else, that he

  347. wouldn't find anything else. We need to adjust, correct,

  348. navigate, give us something different.

  349. It's his responsibility as a father to help navigate us

  350. because his words are to give us life and keep us from harm.

  351. That's what they are now Pastor Mike use this and and when he

  352. was talking about healing in in the realm of obedience and he

  353. was communicating, you know that when you tell a child not to

  354. touching a stove, there's a reason behind that.

  355. But you understand, if I was a father, say I don't care what my

  356. kids do. I don't train them how to handle

  357. knives. I don't train them about the

  358. stove enough. I mean, I would be considered an

  359. abusive parent. That's good.

  360. Well, they'll figure it out on their own.

  361. They cut themselves one too many times.

  362. They'll know. Don't touch the knife there.

  363. Don't run with it. I mean, who does this?

  364. No one does this that has any sanity, right?

  365. The devil does stuff like this, but our father does not do it.

  366. So we have to understand. Our father's like, don't touch

  367. that. It's hot.

  368. Are you trying to control my life?

  369. No. I'm trying to keep you from

  370. harm. This is not control, I'm just

  371. giving you life and if you submit to me, you'll walk in

  372. pathway of right. Because guess what?

  373. He's never been wrong, He's never been unjust, He's never

  374. sinned, He is righteous. Can I get an Amen?

  375. So you understand then in if natural dads and our Heavenly

  376. Father, then obviously spiritual fathers are going to be making

  377. corrections with their children, which means as as long as we are

  378. around each other, there's going to come someday that I'm going

  379. to say we're going to have to switch that up.

  380. And if you get offended at that, then what you're saying is

  381. you're illegitimate to the relationship we're in.

  382. Because when I'm asking to adjust is what he's asking you

  383. to adjust. What does the Bible say?

  384. Yeah, But this is how I feel, Pastor.

  385. You know, Apostle, this is what was going on in my life.

  386. Elliott, can I share a little bit?

  387. You know, very minor. Elliott was going through a

  388. particular season in his life, and he was a little bit

  389. emotional and. And there was a particular

  390. occasion where I was addressing him, and it was loud between us

  391. both because he was intense. He was telling his brothers and

  392. they were laughing about it. And he was laughing about the

  393. situation with someone that he was going through this emotional

  394. moment with. And now they're all laughing

  395. about it because he realized, you know, he was helping me

  396. through this time when I was just being emotional.

  397. But that was a season for offense because he felt

  398. justified for his feelings. However, when you line those

  399. feelings up to the word, it says, quit feeling that way and

  400. do this instead. And thank God Elliott does that.

  401. Isn't that amazing? So what's important about that

  402. is that all of us may have had conversations.

  403. Amen. And again, sometimes you may

  404. leave and say, hey, they're they're my daddy.

  405. I'm not your daddy. You haven't have a father.

  406. But I have spiritual oversight that is to point you towards the

  407. word and whether you are 80 something which some men came up

  408. and that was extremely humbling and full of responsibility to

  409. see them say I'm older but and I could be your natural father,

  410. but you are my spiritual father. That means it's very important

  411. that I keep speaking the word of God into their lives.

  412. So we're going to talk about spiritual sons things you'll see

  413. out of a real spiritual son. You can say that you are, but if

  414. you do not have these qualities, you are not all right because

  415. there is a responsibility with the son as much as there is with

  416. the father. Now let me say this because I

  417. need to fix a couple of false doctrine.

  418. Can I do that? This still is touted in places

  419. and it's, it's a little mind blowing to me, but it is.

  420. And I know where the church gets it, but we're missing the point

  421. of it. We pulled a corporate analogy

  422. into the church. And there's a part in the BA and

  423. in the Bible it talks about in Psalms, I think it's 133 about

  424. the anointing on Aaron. It flows down in it from his top

  425. of his head and it goes down his beard.

  426. It goes all the way down, right? And so how many of you ever

  427. heard this leadership flows down from the top to the bottom?

  428. Now, in the corporate world, there's something really big.

  429. And that means this. If there's something wrong in

  430. your employees, you need to go up to the managers.

  431. So that's where the problems at. So in essence, if there's

  432. something lower, it's because there's a problem higher.

  433. And so that sounds good. And in fact, maybe in the world

  434. that's true. In the flesh, most likely, but

  435. in the spirit that does not always equate as truth.

  436. That's right. Now, why do I say that?

  437. Because Adam eats the fruit and now the administration of the

  438. planet has gone to bad. I mean, it's not hell.

  439. That's a different place, but it's definitely gone bad, right?

  440. It's it's gone to darkness. Let's say it that way.

  441. Did that flow from the head? Well, if there's something going

  442. wrong in the church, you got to go to the leadership.

  443. Well, the leadership of the church is Jesus.

  444. He's the head of the church and he's never wrong.

  445. Which means then the apostle, the pastor, the teacher, the

  446. evangelist, the prophet, they may not be wrong and there can

  447. be congregation people that are wrong and there's no flow.

  448. They could be stopping a flow because they're not doing their

  449. part as spiritual children in the body of Christ.

  450. So this is not a true statement that anytime something's wrong,

  451. get a lower level, it's because something up higher.

  452. But man, people will say this often, They'll say this often.

  453. I'm going to give you another one.

  454. Amos, 33, says. How can two people walk together

  455. unless they are agreed? OK, Are you ready?

  456. Submission begins where disagreement starts.

  457. The minute you disagree, now you submit.

  458. And this is widely held belief that I have to disagree with you

  459. about something, and if I do it your way, I'm submitting.

  460. Well, how can you then be in agreement?

  461. Because people say, well, if you agree with them, you're not

  462. submitting. Now, it sounds good.

  463. But again, it reminds me of this little story of Melvin who kept,

  464. you know, standing up in class and the teacher says sit down

  465. and then she forced him to sit down.

  466. He said, I may be sitting down, but I'm standing up on the

  467. inside. We understand God's dealing with

  468. the inside. So how can you be doing

  469. something someone's ass and being rebellion in your heart

  470. and tell me you're in faith. How can you disagree with God's

  471. way of doing something and say I'm submitting because then that

  472. scripture would be submit therefore to God, disagree with

  473. him, but do it anyway. Well, you know what he said

  474. about that? He said with their lips, but

  475. their heart. So if your position is, oh, I'm

  476. really submitted to God because I don't want to do nothing.

  477. He says that's where my submission show because I I

  478. identify. I don't want to do Jack

  479. anything. God says I am the most submitted

  480. person. Well, you're the most you're the

  481. you're a person that's completely out of faith.

  482. Submission is here's my way, he says, but here's my way.

  483. And you said, you know what? Your way is better.

  484. So I get rid of my way and I agree with your way.

  485. And that's submission. That is biblical submission.

  486. So again, when we talk about sons, sons are sons not because

  487. they disagree with their fathers and do it anyway.

  488. It's because they're watching the example of the Father and

  489. they're saying your way is the way and I don't have a way.

  490. And Jesus modeled this the best. He said I don't do anything.

  491. I'm on accord what I hear I do. So why do we as children think

  492. that we do not? One of the qualifications or

  493. fruits of our sonship is that we are submitted through agreeing

  494. with God's way of doing, and we get rid of ours.

  495. We, If you're doing it and you don't want to do it, that's

  496. called rebellion. And you get no reward for

  497. rebellious niceness because that's not good.

  498. It's nice, but it's not good. So let's look at a couple of

  499. things here. The first thing, I have 15

  500. actually. So we most likely will not

  501. finish this today. I have 15 things that and this

  502. is not an exhaustive list, but I'll give you 15 things that

  503. show that you are a spiritual son if these qualities are in

  504. your life. Because again, a lot of sons get

  505. out there and tout a spiritual father, but yet they do not

  506. actually model spiritual sons. And many people say they have

  507. spiritual fathers they've never met, but there's no

  508. relationship. You cannot have a YouTube

  509. spiritual father. You cannot attend their

  510. conference and be in a balcony and there be your spiritual

  511. father. They are tutor, they're helping

  512. teach you some things, but they're not a father.

  513. All right, Ephesians chapter 6, verse one through three.

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  514. The first one is this. It says, children, obey your

  515. parents and the Lord for this is right.

  516. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment

  517. with a promise so that so that it may be well with you and that

  518. you may live long on the earth. Now, obviously we read this

  519. particular passive Scripture and there's a natural aspect of

  520. this, right? For sure.

  521. Obviously we are to honor. And the question is, is what

  522. does it even mean to honor, right?

  523. And that's a whole nother subject in love itself.

  524. But honor is demonstrated towards a father.

  525. Well, if this is in the natural, we know that we are to honor our

  526. heavenly Father. The Bible tells us that Paul

  527. said when it came to elders in the church, when he was talking

  528. to Timothy, said they're worthy a double honor.

  529. Those who work diligently in preaching and teaching.

  530. Well, if that elder, that overseer can be a spiritual

  531. father to the flock and they should receive double honor.

  532. Now, that didn't mean they get more honor than the father.

  533. The father gets the most honor. You understand this.

  534. The point is, is that if you should honor your natural

  535. parents, you should honor those that are spiritual parents over

  536. your life, specifically the church you're assigned to.

  537. Right? But not just honor.

  538. He says to obey. Same in anyway.

  539. Thank you. Thank you for reminding me

  540. you're in the US. Cause in the US we are

  541. independent, right? Which breeds rebellion.

  542. Nobody's going to tell me what to do.

  543. Well, I'm not telling you what to do, but I'm telling you what

  544. you should obey 'cause it's life that's good.

  545. Hallelujah. In fact, the Bible tells us this

  546. in Hebrews. It says very specifically, obey

  547. your leaders as they will give an account over your soul.

  548. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for it would not

  549. be profitable for you, not for the leader.

  550. Now, how do you cause a leader to grieve and not have joy?

  551. Well, don't obey what they told you to do when they pulled the

  552. scripture out in the meeting and say, well, what's the Bible say?

  553. You need to do this. Love your husband this way, love

  554. your wife this way. Take care of your employees this

  555. way, Treat your children this way.

  556. You know, attend church this way, give this way, serve this

  557. way. It is written well.

  558. They make so many demands. No demand.

  559. It's just life and everybody wants to pass, to come and go

  560. and do whatever they want to do. Everybody wants to pick their

  561. own stuff. Everybody wants to live in

  562. convenience. Yet we have a responsibility to

  563. communicate truths to you that you should obey.

  564. You know, what's really sad for me and grievous is when I get

  565. around some of our spiritual children and you're like, man, I

  566. would love to say this, but you know what?

  567. I know they're not going to do it.

  568. And what's even more grievous is the ones we've trained through

  569. our schools and we know they know the subjects.

  570. Yet to hear them talk, you would think they never graduated and

  571. you want to say something, but every time you do that child

  572. rebels and don't want to do the word.

  573. So the first couple of things that we see here that a

  574. spiritual son, daughter will do is they will honor and they will

  575. be obedient. These are attributes.

  576. They will honor and be obedient. Now listen, remember, all of

  577. this is in a context of the Father.

  578. The reason why people struggle with these types of teaching is

  579. because you don't want to submit to a man and you don't have to

  580. submit to man. You're only supposed to submit

  581. to God. However, God has placed some

  582. things in order within the church that when those

  583. individuals are functioning in the grace of God, it's easy to

  584. submit there because you're actually submitting to God.

  585. And that's what Paul's saying. If you're imitating me, you're

  586. really not imitating me. We're imitating Christ, but

  587. that's what I'm imitating. So again, if I'm saying, hey, do

  588. this, it's not because I'm saying do this.

  589. I'm saying that's what God said. So if I wouldn't be here, if I

  590. wasn't here to have this conversation with you until you

  591. do this, God would have told you this anyway.

  592. And the reason you came to me is because you wanted an answer.

  593. There's an issue in your life. But did you have a premeditated

  594. way of me responding? I had a situation with that,

  595. that this particular family doesn't even come to the church,

  596. but it's been connected to the ministry through other outlets

  597. that we have. And as a result of that, they

  598. were not satisfied with one of the outlets of how something was

  599. going well. They wanted to meet with me and

  600. I came to the conclusion before they got to me that I'm not

  601. meeting with them. Number one, I have no spiritual

  602. oversight to you #2 you're not submitted to the things we've

  603. already done on multiple meetings, and you're just not

  604. satisfied that you're not getting an answer.

  605. And I know I'm not going to say something different than what's

  606. already been given. So you're a waste of my time.

  607. Now that sounds offensive to people.

  608. Say, well, you don't have time for people.

  609. Well, Nehemiah didn't have time for some people that wrote a

  610. letter say, hey, let's meet. He said I don't have time to go

  611. meet with you because I know your intent, what you're doing

  612. and when I knew their intent and what they were doing.

  613. Like it's a waste of my time and pulling me off the assignment.

  614. I'm called to just so you can continue to complain.

  615. I have a deaf ear to complain and you're not even part of this

  616. body. So I don't need your independent

  617. thinking. I've already seen the cameras.

  618. I've seen the scenario. There's nothing you're going to

  619. say to convince me otherwise. Are you hearing me?

  620. Why? Because there's a thing called

  621. honor and obedience, and children are supposed to honor

  622. and obey. And let me say it this way, Paul

  623. said. Some sleep before their time

  624. because they don't judge the body rightly.

  625. So you may honor your natural father, but you cannot honor

  626. your spiritual parents and still go to sleep early.

  627. Same in anyway, Hallelujah. And again, we could break this

  628. down even more, but we want #3 because I gave you the 1st 2

  629. honor and obedient #3 led by the Spirit.

  630. Romans 814 says it this way. For all who are being led by the

  631. Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

  632. Hallelujah. Now, this is really important,

  633. passive scripture. This Scripture right here is so

  634. powerful and is one of the most misinterpreted scripture on the

  635. face of the planet, right? I remember a particular couple

  636. that was in our church years ago, I'm talking year before we

  637. ever moved to this location. So it's been a decade or more,

  638. and they came to me after a Wednesday night service to

  639. inform me they were leaving the church and then they were going

  640. to be moving somewhere out of the state, you know, because

  641. they've heard God. Well, I knew they had not heard

  642. God. That's tough situation because

  643. you're like, no. Right.

  644. And so, you know, I'm like, well, I don't think so.

  645. And they were shocked. They just wanted me to give him

  646. a blessing and go on. You know what have been easy to

  647. say? Whatever.

  648. Yeah. Enjoy your life and go on.

  649. I mean, it's easy. But sometimes it's not easy.

  650. Sometimes it's life and death and you better say something.

  651. And so I did. And I communicated why I didn't

  652. think it was God's will. Because again, you're saying

  653. you're child of God and you can hear God too, but yet that

  654. spirit in me is not saying the same thing.

  655. Now I can't control your life, but I'm telling you, probably

  656. not right? And didn't honor wasn't going to

  657. walk in obedience did leave and the wife divorced the husband

  658. six months later only had an agenda pulled him out of the

  659. place that they were rising to become a man of the house.

  660. So they pulled him out and then left a note.

  661. That person's life was decimated for a season, and rightly so.

  662. Scripture says if someone divorces, you know, it causes

  663. them to commit adultery and that's not sexual immorality,

  664. it's apostasy. It pulls away from God.

  665. They're like Lord, I don't understand this, but the Lord

  666. restored them. They remarried, have a great

  667. family, they're thriving. The wife or ex-wife still to

  668. this day can't say they're doing good yet They're telling me

  669. they've heard God. They're telling me, well, those

  670. who are led by the Spirit of God, then the Spirit should be

  671. saying the same thing now, just like God, just like us.

  672. We can say, well, I don't believe it's true, but you know

  673. what, I'm not going to stop you. And all I can say is if you get

  674. out and find you were wrong, come home.

  675. I've done that before. Come home then you know, because

  676. you know, moving somewhere in convenience doesn't make it the

  677. will of God. And again, if we believe God's

  678. the God of more than enough can he provide for you to to bring

  679. you here even if you're having to drive from Crescent City,

  680. Ocala, thank you from Ocala. How many hours is that 2 hours

  681. every Sunday? Thank you Jesus.

  682. But again, when you know you're where you're at, the other stuff

  683. doesn't matter. And it didn't matter how much

  684. gas cost, we just kept showing. And you know what?

  685. God kept providing, didn't he? Wow, isn't that amazing?

  686. So you'll be led by the Spirit, which tells us there can be

  687. conflict. And again, a father and son can

  688. get in conflict. But when both of them are

  689. aspiring to hear God, we will come to an agreement.

  690. And again, if the sons honorable and choose and wants to be

  691. obedient to the plans and purpose of God, when the

  692. spiritual oversight says, hmm, I don't know if what you're saying

  693. is accurate, then you're like, well, you know, I know it's for

  694. my well-being. Let's reconvene.

  695. I want to make sure I'm here in the spirit, right?

  696. And I wanted to make sure you're here in the Spirit, right?

  697. Because it's honorable, not we immediately get offensive and

  698. you're trying to control my life and I'm out of here because the

  699. spiritual son wouldn't do that. A real one.

  700. In fact, a spiritual son isn't making decisions without

  701. including the Father in the 1st place.

  702. I can't tell you how many times through the year people say,

  703. well, the Lord's told me and they just tell me I was never a

  704. part of the process. I couldn't even be a part of the

  705. prayer process of the whole transition.

  706. I just cut out. Why?

  707. Because we don't need you. I hear God myself.

  708. We don't want your insight. We don't want your covering.

  709. We don't want the grace in your life to help us so that we don't

  710. make mistakes. Because I'll be the first to

  711. admit, if I don't have it, I don't have it.

  712. I said, well, I don't have it, you know, And if you're here and

  713. go, great. I mean, I don't, at the end of

  714. the day, I know what I'm called to do.

  715. I'm going to continue in that. But if I'm hearing something

  716. which, you know, doesn't happen often in a negative sense,

  717. saying don't do that per SE, well then you might want to say,

  718. you know what, I honor you enough, respect you enough.

  719. Let's stop and recalibrate because a promotion to another

  720. city doesn't mean that's the plan of God for your life or the

  721. blessings. Are you hearing me?

  722. Amen. We've done 3.

  723. Can we do a couple more? Now we're going to jump into

  724. some things very specific to Timothy.

  725. So in Second Timothy chapter one, verse 2, in fact, I would

  726. encourage you since we're going to break this up, to read first

  727. both books of Timothy. Because in both books of

  728. Timothy, you will hear a father speaking to a son and what he

  729. expects to see out of his son, what he expects to see out of

  730. his son. In second Timothy chapter one,

  731. verse 2, it says to Timothy, my beloved son, grace, mercy and

  732. peace from God the Father in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  733. So here he clearly acknowledges that Timothy's a son to me.

  734. Now Timothy is not his natural son.

  735. He is his spiritual son. And so there's this relationship

  736. where he has his spiritual father.

  737. Timothy is his spiritual son and Timothy is an amazing son to

  738. aspire to be, amazing child of God to aspire to be.

  739. OK, and let me just say it this way.

  740. Nowhere in Scripture are you having a relationship with God

  741. without somebody else because we're jointed and fitted

  742. together. God never intended it to be

  743. these one line streams, right? It's just me and you, Brandon,

  744. just me and you. The Lord says just me and you.

  745. That's all that matters. No, he's like, Brandon, you

  746. better get over here with your brother here and just sit here

  747. and you better get connected with your sister here because

  748. this is what the family does, son.

  749. And we'll do this and natural stuff all the time.

  750. Natural reunion. So, well, that's my family.

  751. And they can live like heathens, man.

  752. They can be completely out of the will of God, not even in

  753. your family. And you're like, man, we got to

  754. get hooked up with them. You know, they are family.

  755. Got to believe the best. I love my family.

  756. Yeah. Then we get to the body of

  757. Christ and we're like, don't talk to me.

  758. Jeez. I am his favorite.

  759. It's like Jesus only talked to me.

  760. You're you are the estranged 1. I don't I don't know why we get

  761. this way. Well, it's because we don't

  762. understand how the church we bring independent thinking into

  763. an organization that is fully dependent upon everyone.

  764. Hallelujah. Thank you Jesus.

  765. So Timothy is his son. Let me give you this last one

  766. and then we'll we'll come back next week.

  767. Philippians chapter 2 verse 19 to 22 says this Paul right into

    Philippians 2:19–22

  768. the Philippian church concerning his spiritual son.

  769. He says this he said about a hope in the Lord Jesus to send

  770. Timothy to you shortly. Now let me say this real quick

  771. before I finish this scripture. Timothy is not his favorite, so

  772. get that out of your head. Timothy has proven himself as a

  773. son and anyone could prove themselves as a son.

  774. It's just unfortunately with the the group he's running with

  775. currently, Timothy is the only one who's done it.

  776. Let's go on, but I hope in the hope in the Lord Jesus to send

  777. Timothy to you shortly so that I may be encouraged when I learn

  778. of your condition, for I have no one else of kindred spirit who

  779. will generally be concerned for your welfare.

  780. That word kindred means like mindedness.

  781. It means same in mind and spirit.

  782. It means he is only concerned with what I'm concerned about.

  783. He said he's the only one and then he qualifies the others

  784. that are with him. He says for they all seek their

  785. own interests. So everyone who's on staff with

  786. Paul is not actually with Paul. All right, let me go over here.

  787. Everyone who was on staff with Paul is actually not with Paul.

  788. Paul is a pass through. Paul is a means to a different

  789. end. Paul was just someone that I'm

  790. running around with because I see something that I want for

  791. myself independent of Paul. Actually because my spirits not

  792. really connected with Paul. In fact they would have the

  793. belief I'm submitted to Paul because I never agree with him

  794. anyway. But I do it, and they're not

  795. going to honor me of all that I've done.

  796. Well, half the stuff you've done was in rebellion and with some

  797. on Staffs, they've done it only because of the paycheck.

  798. Put that back up there. So he said the rest of them seek

  799. their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus, he said.

  800. But you know of his what? Proven worth That he served

  801. what? Not for me.

  802. Oh man, you better get this. That he served what with me in

  803. the furtherance of the gospel, like a child serving his father?

  804. Yes. If all you're doing is serving

  805. me, that's a problem. But if you're serving with me

  806. where I'm saying, son, we have something to do.

  807. We're doing the dad's business. I need you to do your part.

  808. I'm going to do my part. Let's do this thing together and

  809. we'll accomplish it. You.

  810. I'm releasing you. I'm going to release you.

  811. I'm going to release you. I'm going to release you.

  812. I'm going to release your gift. Why?

  813. Because you're not working for me.

  814. You're not serving me. We're serving him, we're all

  815. working together to accomplish this thing.

  816. But there are many that are serving or working for somebody

  817. and if they see the relationship that I'm working for them, it's

  818. because they have selfish ambitions.

  819. But a true son says, I'm not working for you, I'm working for

  820. the Lord. I'm just serving with you.

  821. And you're the example of what it looks like to serve the Lord.

  822. And I can learn from you, and you're investing in me.

  823. And you're telling me more about who I am than I even knew.

  824. And you're pulling things out of me I didn't even think was

  825. there. And you're releasing me in ways

  826. that I've never been released before.

  827. But I'll not forget you. And when I go somewhere I don't

  828. push myself, I represent you and you alone.

  829. Because a spiritual son will be like minded and have no

  830. self-interest. So they're they, they're, they

  831. honor, they walk in obedience, right?

  832. These are the things, they're led by the Spirit, but they're

  833. also like minded and they have no self-interest.

  834. You know what, you're going to be different than me.

  835. You're going to see things different than I see because God

  836. made us that way as a body. And I'm going to release you

  837. just like I said on Wednesday, I said where are my evangelists?

  838. Because on Friday and Saturday there is an opportunity for you

  839. to get in front of the community at the summer thrift and all you

  840. got to do is walk around and talk to people and talk to them.

  841. And through that you're going to pray for them.

  842. You can invite them some you could lead to Christ.

  843. We're giving you a whole Ave. to touch their lives.

  844. And again, you're serving with us.

  845. Well, I don't see apostle there. That's not my part.

  846. Now Apostle Marcy was there. She was there on what was that

  847. Friday, all day, she said All day.

  848. I text her, I said, what you doing?

  849. She said they just keep coming. They just keep showing up.

  850. I mean, this place is full, you know, I'm like, well, praise the

  851. Lord, that's good. Sell something, bless their

  852. lives, talk to him. Right, man?

  853. I went in there with myself. Had to pick up something, drop

  854. something off, pick something up.

  855. And there's people walking around.

  856. I'm like, let's serve together because we're not doing

  857. something because we're bored. We do stuff because we're

  858. called. Are you hearing me?

  859. But you've got to decide. Not my will, but his will be

  860. done. Because I've decided not my will

  861. but his will be done. And then when I communicate His

  862. will for us, it's not because I wanted to do it.

  863. Because I'm like a lot of you, I like my weekend too.

  864. If I just thought about myself, I'd be 3 shades darker in my tan

  865. right now. If that was true, I would have

  866. had hit the beach way more times.

  867. I'd have no projects at the house. 0 Because every weekend I

  868. go to Port St. Joe as a weekend, I don't do

  869. something at my own home. But my life's not my own.

  870. And I imitate what it means to follow Jesus so that you

  871. yourself can say, you know what? God always takes care of those

  872. who follow him. Hallelujah.

  873. How many we get done today? 5 All right, we can give you 10.

  874. Next week we'll have a few less things to do and you don't want

  875. to miss next week. And I know it's July 4th

  876. weekend. Don't let the US holiday keep

  877. you out of church. All right?

  878. Can we do this then for Tom, since I'm doing this next week,

  879. let me lay hands on people next week, OK?

  880. And so anyone that I haven't laid hands on to be a blessing

  881. because Jesus laid hands on the children just to bless them, He

  882. says, suffer not the little children.

  883. And we do that as an act of saying, hey, we recognize this

  884. relationship we're in, that we have an oversight as planting

  885. the church. And we want to be an example to

  886. you, but we want to bless you as spiritual sons and daughters of

  887. the King. And together we're more than a

  888. family. We're the church.

  889. We're not just a family. We're the church.

  890. And the church is the most powerful thing on the planet.

  891. All right.
