If you have your Bibles, turn over to Jude.
-
We're going to be in, we're going to start out in Jude.
-
There's only 1 chapter in Jude and we'll go to the verse 20.
-
And so once you get there, if you would stand for the reading
-
of the word, again, we're not doing this out of a tradition.
-
We're doing it because we're trying to have an
-
acknowledgement that in heaven our Father sits on the throne,
-
right? And that his Son Jesus is seated
-
at the right hand. And you know, the word of God is
-
God speaking to us. And so we're just showing some
-
reverence because we want the atmosphere where we're saying,
-
Lord, we acknowledge you, you're in the room, and that we need
-
you and we want to receive your instruction.
-
Amen. And so it says in Jude 120, it
-
says, but you beloved, building yourself up in your most holy
-
faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, you can be seated.
-
Aren't you glad you can pray in the Holy Spirit?
-
I see. It's interesting here in this
-
passive scripture, which I love, he says building yourself up on
-
your most holy faith. Now we know faith comes by
-
hearing and hearing from the word of God.
-
And it's very important that in order for us to have access to
-
faith, we have to be able to hear God's Word.
-
And as you study God's Word, you keep God's Word in front of you.
-
Then it it has the ability to build your faith itself.
-
It has this context to where your faith can grow, right?
-
And again, it's not just hearing alone, but it's becoming a doer
-
of that word. Yet praying in the Spirit will
-
help build that as well. And that's really powerful
-
because there is this element that you can continue to
-
strengthen faith in you so that it it energizes you to to
-
continue to be firmly persuaded by praying in the Holy Spirit.
-
I'm thankful that when I pray in the Holy Ghost, it reminds me
-
I'm not just a natural man, that our life on this earth is not
-
just natural. We're not just natural people.
-
We're in a natural body for sure, but we are supernatural
-
beings. We have been purchased with the
-
blood of Jesus. We're now the spirit that's been
-
placed in US is in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit comes in and
-
bears witness with our spirit. We're children of God, and then
-
when He comes upon us and dues us with power, we can pray in
-
the language of the Kingdom. And it is a powerful tool to
-
help build us because in the natural world, there's going to
-
be a lot of things that we can look at, see, hear stuff, you
-
know? And those things can be really
-
discouraging. However, when we begin to pray
-
in the Spirit man, it's does something not only to you
-
personally, but it does something to your faith, right?
-
Acts chapter one, verse 14. I want to show a couple examples
-
real quick of how prayer activated some things.
-
Because you know, we have said this in the past and it's
-
obvious that it's, there's a level of this that when it comes
-
to corporate prayer, it doesn't technically have the same
-
attendance as just coming to service.
-
And you know what, coming to service, what's, what are people
-
here and they're hearing the preaching of the word, right?
-
They're participating in that. They're singing songs unto the
-
Lord, right? And so having those, that kind
-
of interaction, you know, it's pretty easy for us to do those
-
things. But then when we get into
-
prayer, sometimes you know, it's not as well attended, right?
-
And it's, it can either be won because we, we don't know how to
-
pray, right? Maybe we've had some
-
disappointments, particularly maybe in prayer.
-
But we're going to show here in a few examples of how prayer
-
activated some things. Reading the word, being under
-
the teaching of the word is absolutely necessary.
-
Praising the Lord is absolutely necessary.
-
But you know what? God can do some really amazing
-
things and does some really amazing things in your time of
-
prayer. And you, you want to be able to
-
say, you know, I don't want to miss any aspect of God because
-
I'm limiting my prayer time or that I'm not putting as much
-
emphasis on prayer because there's some very powerful
-
things God can do in prayer. In Acts chapter one verse 14, it
-
says these now this is after the death, burial, resurrection of
-
Jesus. Jesus is letting them know, you
-
know, that he's leaving and they just happened to see him ascend
-
to heaven. He said, now you're going to
-
receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, right?
-
And he said, then you're going to be my witnesses and they've
-
witnessed this event. And it says these all with one
-
mind. What were they one mind were
-
what? Continually devoting themselves
-
to prayer along with the women and the Mary, the mother of
-
Jesus and with his brothers. So they developed this custom
-
because Jesus, when I say custom, this routine that Jesus
-
said, now the Spirit's coming, the promise of the Father's
-
coming, and don't go anywhere till you receive it.
-
OK? Now they didn't know when.
-
So you know when they're coming together.
-
First of all, they don't even know what that is, right?
-
They don't understand that technical experience.
-
This is about to be poured out for the, you know, the Holy
-
Spirit coming upon them and and has it done this event in the
-
earth up to this particular juncture right now, Adam
-
obviously had the Holy Spirit. Jesus had the Holy Spirit
-
without measure. But now that man is born of God
-
into the spirits in him bearing witness.
-
They're fixing to receive something that man that
-
humanity's not had. Now that doesn't mean the Holy
-
Spirit didn't come upon the prophet, the priest, the king,
-
but it left they're fixing to have some him come upon them and
-
he doesn't go anywhere. Hallelujah.
-
And so here they are coming together with no, like, let's do
-
it for a couple days. There was this idea he's coming,
-
he's coming, right? He's coming.
-
And since he's coming, you know, let's be.
-
But there was a devotion they had, you know, and I, I, it
-
doesn't say that they were pulling out, you know, you know,
-
scrolls from the prophets or from the law and reading those
-
things. And I'm not saying they didn't.
-
It just doesn't say that. But we do know they were
-
actively doing this praying. And at this point they're
-
praying based upon what they know in the natural.
-
There are things they're saying because at this point the Holy
-
Ghost hasn't come. Jump over to chapter 2, verse
-
one, and it says this. It says and when on the day of
-
Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
-
Aren't you glad they were together in one place?
-
And it went on to say, and suddenly there came from heaven.
-
Came from where? Where did it come from?
-
Came from heaven. So prayer activates heaven.
-
You know, a lot of times people say, well, I want to hear from
-
God. Well, prayer will activate
-
heaven. And it says suddenly there came
-
from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it
-
filled the whole house where they were sitting.
-
Man, that had to be something, right?
-
And there appeared to them as of fire distributing themselves,
-
and they rested on each one of them, and they were all what
-
filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other
-
tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
-
Now Jesus had breathed on his disciples and John and said,
-
receive the Holy Ghost. So there was already the new
-
birth experience with these individuals.
-
However, here the Spirit of God now has come upon them and it
-
gives them a language, not only a language that their mind
-
doesn't understand, but also it gave them access to languages
-
known within the earth, earth, although they did not go to
-
language school to learn it, right?
-
Like O Rain and his wife Simone, they're currently taking some
-
Spanish lessons, right? So they're, you know, I'm sure
-
they like Holy Ghost. Just give me the language.
-
Wouldn't that be amazing? Because then, you know, you
-
wouldn't have to study. You just bam, here you go and we
-
can speak Spanish. I, you know, honestly, as long
-
as we've been in Nicaragua, kind of wish the Lord would do that
-
for me, right? I like, let me just show up at
-
Nicaragua or Anchor Bay churches and then, you know, you know,
-
and here we go. We're we're just tearing it up.
-
Espiritu Santo, right? No, we're not doing it.
-
It could happen. It hasn't.
-
Now, I will say this, there have been times when I've prayed in
-
the spirit that I began to pray. And all of a sudden it seemed to
-
me that what is it wasn't my unknown tongue.
-
It wasn't that prayer language. I'm, you know, accustomed.
-
It moved over and I'm like, I, I sense I'm speaking in some kind
-
of Asian language and I still didn't understand it because,
-
you know, you can speak Spanish to me and I've been in the
-
country and won't understand everything you're saying.
-
But I just had a sense I, I, if I was in front of this person,
-
this, this nation right now, they would know what I'm saying.
-
Now. I didn't need to know because
-
the Lord wanted me to say it. He was releasing whatever that
-
was, which was God's perfect will in the earth concerning
-
that. And you know what?
-
When I got a release, then it left and I didn't have that
-
language, whatever it was anymore.
-
And so here they are. They're filled with the Holy
-
Ghost and they're filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
This encounter of the outpour in the spirit came because they
-
were in a prayer meeting. And what I love about this is,
-
you know, there's a lot of church planting strategies, but
-
the church that Jesus first launched, you know, when he
-
said, I'm going to build my church, his first church plant
-
came out of a prayer meeting. And it was powerful.
-
And that prayer, because of whatever that time frame that
-
they were devoting themselves to prayer before the day of
-
Pentecost, it created such an atmosphere that once they got
-
baptized in the Holy Ghost, all of a sudden they began to speak
-
in such a way that those that were there said, what must we
-
do? What must we do?
-
And it said 3000 souls came into the Kingdom that day.
-
That's amazing. I mean, we would never think
-
that you could get 3000 people born again just simply by
-
praying. But prayer activated that, you
-
know, again, I do think, you know, as we continue to want to
-
grow and expand, we have to continue to increase our prayer
-
time because there's things that God wants to do that he's
-
releasing in prayer. There are things he speaks to us
-
in his word. Thank God for that.
-
He gives us revelation, illumination, right?
-
He does that. We're like, wow, I just heard
-
God, you know, I'll read the page.
-
I'm like, wow, the Lord's speaking to me about that.
-
That's really amazing, right? And that's awesome.
-
But that's not the only time God speaks, and it's not the only
-
time he reveals stuff. And could there be things that
-
we haven't yet tapped in from heaven?
-
Because God's release of that comes through his avenue of
-
prayer. So I receive stuff through the
-
written word and studying the word by the Spirit of God
-
revealing those truths to me. I also experienced things when I
-
begin to sing unto the Lord, right?
-
Because there's things he releases, But you know what?
-
Then there's things that he's releasing through prayer.
-
And sometimes the one of the most powerful aspects of the
-
church is being the least used right now.
-
We need to get in the habit of prayer is not just a corporate
-
prayer meeting because God is not just calling us to corporate
-
prayer, although that's, you know, as a church, we should do
-
that. He's actually calling us to
-
prayer that is on a continual basis.
-
And we'll see that here in a minute.
-
Let's get another example here now.
-
This one's in Acts chapter 10. Man, these are really cool,
Acts 10 chapter mention
-
awesome examples that God has left for us, these little
-
Nuggets that shows us that, man, when you have this communion
-
with God, and I love how Apostle Marcy ministers, you know, it's
-
in the cool of the day. It's just having communion with
-
God. When we're having communion with
-
God, not only can he speak to us, speak to our heart, give us
-
direction or whatever, but he can do some really supernatural
-
things in prayer. And so here in Acts Chapter 10,
Acts 10 chapter mention
-
I'm intentionally going a little bit later in the chapter, and
-
we'll bounce back up a little earlier here in a second.
-
But because Cornelius kind of gives us a really at the end of
-
this chapter, what had occurred earlier in the chapter.
-
And he says, and Cornelius said four days ago to this hour, I
-
was what? He was praying OK, in my house
-
during the 9th hour. And behold, a man stood before
-
me in shining garments. So what happened in Cornelius's
-
prayer time? An Angel showed up.
-
And here's the kicker, Cornelius is not yet born of God.
-
This is what right And it says in Cornelius.
-
And he said, Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your
-
alms have been remembered before the Lord.
-
His what's been remembered? His prayers have been heard, and
-
what his what now that's giving. So God knows your giving, all
-
right. God knows your giving, and God
-
knows your heart towards your giving.
-
And it has made such an impression in heaven that here's
-
someone who's not born of God yet, but is going towards the
-
God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, right?
-
And as a result of that, God's, like, I'm hearing some stuff.
-
Then he gives him instruction through this Angel, right?
-
And you know, obviously Corneas's spirit is not alive
-
unto God. So there's no wonder why the
-
Angel showed up and said, hey, I need to talk to you, right?
-
Because again, his spirit's yet alive.
-
So he comes and says, therefore send to Joppa and invite Simon,
-
who is also called Peter to come to you.
-
He is staying at the House of Simon, the Tanner of the cement.
-
This is very specific information.
-
This is like modern day GPS. OK.
-
And he says and so I sit for you immediately and you have been
-
kind enough to come. Now then we are all present
-
before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.
-
This is what he tells Peter. Now if you go back up to I
-
believe to the 9th verse, it says on the next day.
-
Now on the next day is the day after Cornelius had prayed where
-
he was. So Cornelius, this little
-
encounter, this this this context we just read, he was
-
talking about these things on the next day, which he
-
immediately sent someone to go find Peter.
-
By the time Peter arrives it's been 4 days but on the next day
-
which means he said y'all go. And so the next day Peter's
-
praying while these people are in route.
-
And because Cornelius heard from heaven and acted on The Voice,
-
God then said something in Peter's prayer, which then you
-
could conclude if Cornelius had not sent anyone, then maybe this
-
prayer Peter has doesn't come. This conversation with God may
-
not have occurred. But because Cornelius acted in
-
prayer to what the Lord has said through the Angel, God now is
-
speaking to another man. Now, this is not the first time
-
this is, I mean, this one's before Paul or Saul of Tarsus,
-
because that same kind of context took place.
-
Now, Paul obviously wasn't praying.
-
He was going to try to, you know, get people in Damascus and
-
throw them in prison. And the Lord stop the process.
-
And once that happened, then he started talking to God, right?
-
And he goes, who are you? And I'm Jesus, the one, you know
-
why you kick against the goat? Well, because of that
-
experience. And he called him Lord.
-
Now the Lord says, OK, I need to go talk to another man.
-
And because of Paul's yielding to Jesus and becoming born of
-
God, it caused God to talk to another man in order to come and
-
see Paul, pray for him and cause the scales to come off his his
-
eyes. So prayer has connection with
-
other people's what I'm saying. And sometimes you're acting on a
-
certain prayer may release God to be able to speak to somebody
-
else on your behalf. Now the Lord, the Angel tells
-
Cornelius to go get Peter the day he tells him this in prayer.
-
Peter has not gotten this memo. He is unaware that this is going
-
to to happen. In fact, what's about to occur
-
is is kind of controversial to Peter because the ninth verse it
-
says this and on the next day as they were on their way and
-
approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the 6th
-
hour to what? Just going to praise, commune
-
with God, spend time with him. He has no idea what God's going
-
to say to him that day, but man does God say something.
-
All of a sudden he has a open vision and he sees four corners
-
of this, you know, sheet come down.
-
And all of a sudden there's all these animals that according to
-
the law that God wrote through Moses of animals not to eat.
-
The Lord says Peter, get up, kill and eat.
-
And he's like, no way not doing it.
-
I've not eaten anything unclean. But it was a a message from God
-
saying you think the Gentiles are unclean, but I'm coming to
-
save them too. Glory to God, Hallelujah.
-
Which reminds me of Steak and Shake.
-
Steak and Shake years ago. What year was that?
-
Randy, do you remember? Oh wait, in 2008, Reverend Randy
-
came from Tulsa up to us probably why were you visiting
-
or we doing a king of first business Alliance?
-
No, that that was before the Kingdom.
-
OK, Yeah, we were coming for an anniversary service and so
-
obviously we went to Steak and Shake.
-
I ate that back then. And, and so we went there after
-
service and we were all kind of hanging out and talking and, and
-
stuff. His son Joshua had already moved
-
here. And so, you know, we were just
-
conversing and there was, you know, a bit of a discourse.
-
And so I said, excuse me, I need to go use the restroom.
-
And so I went to the restroom and while I was in there, while
-
I went to the restroom, not to go, but because God spoke to me
-
at the table when I was sitting across from And he says, tell
-
him what you will have him do if he'll move.
-
And I was like, what? Tell him what you'll have him do
-
if he'll move. Now, up to this point, I have
-
never talked to anyone. Whoever moved to come to Anchor
-
Faith Church, what we would do. That's like not even on the
-
table because you want people to come because they've heard God
-
and that's kind of stand up And now you're I don't even want to
-
talk to this guy. If this guy can't hear from
-
heaven on his own to come, you know, that's his problem.
-
Not my problem. But yet the Holy Spirit is
-
telling me this. So I said, excuse me, I went to
-
the bathroom, not to go to the bathroom, but to look in the
-
mirror and have a conversation with God, right, Because I'm
-
like, Lord, what are we saying? I mean, and I talked with him in
-
the bathroom. Thank God no one came in.
-
I'm like, I, I've not done this ever.
-
And Lord, I don't want to say something to seem like, you
-
know, I'm pulling or anything. And, and he just kept an
-
impression. Go tell him what he will do,
-
what you, what he can do here. If he'll move, Well, you know
-
I'm going to obey God. So I showed up, right and I sat
-
down the table and I'm like, if you move, the Lord told me.
-
And I just said, this man, his face got all crazy, right?
-
What I didn't know is that he had had a conversation with the
-
Lord in prayer. He was already kind of wrestling
-
with this, no, this, this pool of the spirit to move.
-
And he was like, no, I'm not doing that.
-
I'm not doing that. And so as you know, when God
-
starts to talk to us about a few things, we are like Moses, we
-
give some excuses, right? We're like, hey, Nah, This is
-
why what I think I'm hearing can't be what I'm hearing.
-
And so he began to tell the Lord.
-
He said, Lord, he don't need me. He's got plenty of people around
-
him that are doing stuff. There's all kind of people that
-
he has. He doesn't need me.
-
I'm not necessary. And the Lord's talking to him
-
and he and the Lord said a few things to him and he said, well
-
now Lord, if he says to me. So I'm trying to say, I'm not
-
saying that. What I don't know is that he has
-
struck a deal with the Lord, and the Lord's OK with this deal.
-
And so now I have to come in. But again, his prayer life
-
activated something in mind which took the course and
-
direction of his life. Wow, are you hearing me?
-
It's amazing. So a lot of times, you know, if
-
we don't watch out because it's easier for us to just sit in the
-
word or, you know, listen to the word, right?
-
Like, you know, your favorite person to hear preach, you know,
-
and stuff. And you Amen and all that.
-
And yes, we can learn from that. And you're seeking God When I
-
say seeking in your mind, you're like, man, we need this, I need
-
this. I wish God would answer this.
-
I need God to answer me here. You know, what am I going to do
-
about this? You know, you're having those
-
internal conversation. How am I going to do this?
-
What am I going to do here? Where do I go here?
-
All this, yet you're really not praying to the Lord.
-
You're just rolling in your mind things.
-
So you know, you, you, you, you hear the worship songs, you're
-
going to scripture and at the end of the day, you're like, I'm
-
I'm trying to hear God. But there's an aspect that God
-
releases thing in and it's prayer and a lot of times we
-
don't spend enough time there, right?
-
And because of that, you know, we can miss out on some things
-
God is saying. We just want to make sure we
-
keep that in our arsenal. Say keep it in your arsenal.
-
Acts chapter 16 verse 25 and it said this, but about midnight
-
Paul and Silas were what praying and singing hymns of praise to
-
God and the prisoners were listening to them.
-
Now you know, this is not the most comfortable time to be
-
exercising what Paul and Silas are exercising.
-
You know, as you know this context of Scripture and Paul
-
man, he is very proficient in the word.
-
I mean, the man is eloquent in in his understanding and
-
revelation. In fact, he's pinned the
-
majority of the new covenant pages that we have today.
-
And so here he is in prison, he's been beaten, they are in
-
stocks, and now he is praying and out of his prayers, it
-
causes him to move into some singing.
-
And you understand in a Jewish tradition, a lot of times their
-
songs were wrapped around the word.
-
There were a lot of songs they sang.
-
I mean, the whole book of Psalms is inspired Word of God to song.
-
And it tells of the goodness of God and the things that God has
-
done and how he's delivered one of his.
-
See, one of the praises he could have sang as a hymn was, you
-
know, the Lord delivers me out of all my trouble.
-
I mean, they could have been singing that right while praying
-
and not just praying. I'm sure they were praying in
-
the Holy Ghost, right? Because he doesn't feel like it
-
doesn't feel like it. I mean, his body is telling him
-
all kinds of stuff, but yet, And in this passage it tells us from
-
prayer and praise that the Holy Ghost showed up at the prison,
-
shook the whole building like an earthquake, opened up all the
-
prison doors and all the chains of the prisoners fell off.
-
But here's what's so amazing about that passage of Scripture
-
is you would think if you are a prisoner in stocks or in chains
-
and they fell off you and a door open, what do you think's the
-
first thought you're going to have run.
-
That's kind of easy, right? I'm out of here, right?
-
I mean, that's pretty simple process.
-
But you know, the power of God through their prayer life kept
-
them in the places they were confined.
-
Although free, they would much rather be in the place that
-
they've been confined in the presence of God, then run from
-
it. Wow, that's amazing.
-
I said that's amazing. And so prayer really unlocks all
-
kinds of things in our life. And again, I want to just
-
encourage you man. We need to make sure we are
-
functioning in prayer as the Bible has instructed us.
-
So let's read a few more passive scriptures before we close
-
tonight. In Romans chapter 8 verse 26 to
-
27, it says this. In the same way the Spirit also
-
helps our our what weaknesses? For we do not know how to pray
-
as we should Hallelujah. But the Spirit himself
-
intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words, right?
-
And he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the
-
Spirit is because he intercedes for the Saints according to the
-
will of God. You can just imagine that Paul,
-
in a lot of his, you know, travels, found himself praying
-
in the Holy Ghost because this is what he knows.
-
I know Scripture, I know what God has revealed to me, but yet
-
there's some things I still don't know.
-
And the Spirit knows. So you know what?
-
I'm going to pray by the Spirit because the Spirit knows the
-
mind of the Spirit, right? Knows the heart of God, knows
-
the will of God. And even though I haven't
-
studied out scripture to exactly know some missing piece per se,
-
man, I can pray in the Spirit. If, if, if I'm in a situation
-
or, or needing a answer or something, and you know, I've
-
gone to the word and I've given Thanksgiving to God and I'm
-
praising him, you know, yet I still, you know what?
-
I have something we can activate and it's praying in the spirit
-
so that it draws in that answer to us.
-
How powerful is that? Aren't you glad you're a new
-
believer? So in First Corinthians chapter
1 Corinthians 14 chapter mention
-
14, Paul said this. First Corinthians 14 verses 14
-
to 15, he says this. For if I pray in a tongue, my
-
spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful, you know, and a lot
-
of times people get locked up about, you know, praying in
-
other tongues because I don't understand what I'm saying.
-
Well, the Bible tells you you're not going to understand what
-
you're saying. Don't get locked up.
-
It's OK. And you know, I always, that's
-
why I like to say it's the language of the Kingdom because
-
no one really has a problem when we talk about Spanish being the
-
language of Latin America, you know, or of countries that speak
-
Spanish, right? No one technically has an issue
-
when we say, you know, a person that's from Germany, they speak
-
German. You know, no one typically has
-
an issue. And many of you could.
-
We are in Florida and there's a lot of international travel,
-
especially if you go down to Central Florida.
-
I mean, you'll hear all kinds of languages and they'll be in
-
Walmart, you know, or you'll be in Publix or whatever.
-
And people are talking and you're kind of saying, I wish I
-
knew what they were saying right now, you know, now a lot of
-
people end up knowing our language, but most of us don't
-
know their language. And that's right.
-
In fact, I got a couple that can.
-
A few people can speak Albanian in this room right now, which
-
means if they started talking, we'd all be going, huh?
-
But you know what we wouldn't do?
-
We wouldn't run out of the room and say it's of the devil.
-
We wouldn't do that. You know, people don't run out
-
of stores because someone's talking in a language they do
-
not understand. So for whatever reason,
-
somewhere along the line, somebody decided that when a
-
believer speaks in an unknown tongue, it is of the devil.
-
You know, honestly, that's just not reality.
-
And I'm glad I wasn't taught that growing up.
-
So I never had to rewind that, even though I was within, you
-
know, denominations that technically didn't minister
-
along these lines. And I'm thankful that they
-
didn't because obviously they didn't know enough about it, so
-
they didn't say something wrong about it.
-
Right. So but here Paul is saying, if I
-
pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is
-
unfruitful. He says then what is the
-
outcome? He says I will pray with the
-
Spirit and I'll pray with the mind also.
-
So here's the thing. If you pray only in the natural,
-
you're missing 50% of prayers power.
-
If you only pray in your understanding, you're only
-
releasing 50% of the power of prayer, only 50%.
-
And you know, if you were taking a test and got a 50%, that's
-
called failure, right? And maybe sometimes we're not
-
hearing, we're failing to hear from God because we're only
-
activating 50% of our prayer life.
-
So he goes on and says, I'll pray with the Spirit.
-
I'll pray with the mind. Also, I'll sing with the Spirit,
-
which means there are spiritual songs and I'll sing with the
-
mind also. But what I love about this
-
chapter when you jump down to verse 18, Paul, who wrote over
-
half of the New Testament because of the churches he
-
planted, he says this I thank God I speak in tongues more than
-
you all Paul was he he had he did not apologize because he was
-
praying in the spirit. He did not apologize.
-
In fact, he said, I pray in the spirit, which tells me that Paul
-
got into was in a lot of situations that put him in this
-
place where he didn't know how he ought to pray because it
-
gives when you don't know how you ought to pray.
-
What do we do? So you know, a lot of times
-
people are like, man, I don't know how to pray.
-
Well, let's get baptized in the Holy Ghost because that is your
-
kicker. Let's go ahead and get there.
-
Now, when you start praying in the Spirit, studying the Word,
-
then you know what? You're going to know the voice
-
of God. You're going to learn how to
-
pray in the natural. It itself will increase so that
-
you can pray naturally according to the Word.
-
Because again, if you ask anything in prayer according to
-
my will, He hears us, right? Well, one of His wills is
-
praying in the Spirit because the Spirit reveals the perfect
-
will of God. However, you can pray a
-
scripture which is God's will. Like by His stripes you were
-
healed. Well, I am healed, so I have
-
received the healthcare that comes with being a citizen in
-
God's Kingdom because of the stripes Jesus put on his back.
-
And by faith, I believe I am healed of God, his healing
-
powers working in me. And so I can release that in
-
prayer with Thanksgiving. Excuse me with Thanksgiving.
-
Yet if there's things that's not happening, I'm praying in the
-
spirit. I'm praying in the spirit, I'm
-
praying in the spirit. Can I get an Amen?
-
So Colossians chapter 4, verse 2 says it this way.
-
Devote yourself to prayer. Devote yourself to prayer.
-
And I know in my life prayer has increased through the years.
-
Right now I've starting to move into the habit of getting up and
-
praying. Now that means I'm in the bed
-
and all of a sudden I wake up and I'm like, well, I'm going to
-
go pray. And I slip out and I begin to
-
pray now I don't know. It isn't the same time.
-
It's just whatever I feel and LED to do get moving.
-
And what I don't even look at the clock.
-
You just finish out and go back to bed, you know, because I I
-
have times of prayer. But now I'm like, OK, Lord, I
-
don't want to assume that if I'm waking up at night, it's just
-
because I woke up. Maybe you want to say something
-
and who am I to tell you? Don't come talk to me at 2:00 in
-
the morning right now again, because you're saying I'm
-
devoting myself. Now, the cool thing about
-
praying in the Spirit is, you know you can pray in a spirit
-
anywhere, right? I mean, you can be just kind of
-
whispering anywhere you're at. You can kind of keep your spirit
-
in, you know, connected with God anywhere.
-
So again, prayer is not just the corporate prayer meeting, though
-
that's important. However, it's also important
-
that even if you're out and about, you know, you're just
-
being sensitive and you're praying and you're listening and
-
you're talking to the Lord. And sometimes out of that is
-
going to be a natural prayer. Something come up and you're
-
like me and I'm gonna pray about this right now.
-
And then at other times you're just kind of praying in the
-
spirit. This is why I don't I now this
-
is me. You do what you want to do, but
-
This is why when I am driving you, I don't.
-
I'm not listening to music because it's becomes a prayer
-
time for me. You know, there's certain things
-
I just aren't doing. So it gives me another
-
opportunity. Now, do I listen to stuff
-
sometimes when I'm driving? Absolutely.
-
OK. But I'm just saying I've made it
-
a point that you know what, it's a little more quiet in my
-
vehicle because I take that as a time to pray and listen and
-
hear. And you know, I'm like, well, if
-
Paul that God, you know, and the things going on in his life
-
basically must have had some form of requirement.
-
That is, I mean, I pray in tongues more than y'all.
-
I don't want to be missing out because I'm not staying in
-
prayer, right? And, and I and God wants us to
-
be able to hear from heaven. All right.
-
So we want to be devoted, devote ourselves to prayer, but in it,
-
keep alert with it with an attitude of Thanksgiving when
-
you're praying, whether it's in the natural or with your mind or
-
whether you're praying in the Spirit, you want to have
-
thankfulness with it because you're praying the perfect will
-
of God and God does his word and you can be in confidence.
-
You know what, God's hearing me right now, just like he told
-
Cornelius, because if Cornelius was not yet in covenant with God
-
during that transition, this period of the Church age coming
-
into the the world and he was giving and he was reaching out
-
to God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
-
The only way he knew based upon the covenant that was preceded
-
Jesus's death, burial and resurrection.
-
And here God has heard the prayers and seen the giving,
-
kept the recording of the giving.
-
Well, how much more of those that are alive to God does he
-
hear us? Ain't that amazing?
-
Which means that man, we can get excited.
-
That man. God's hearing me.
-
I know it. My attitude's there.
-
But I'm keeping alert because there may be some instruction,
-
there may be something he's saying.
