-
the world around us. We pray this teaching blesses
-

-
today. And if you need prayer for
-
healing or breakthrough what to find out more about Omega, get
-
to our website or Facebook page through the links below.
-
Let us shout Hallelujah. All are Hallelujah.
-
Before I launch into the 11 to 20, I was preparing for 11 to 20
-
but my eyes went on verse 7. So I got stuck there for a long
-
time. I would say verse 7.
-
So I want to share a few thoughts on verse 7 and then we
-
will go into 11 to 20. Verse 7 says I also said to him,
-
if it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of
-
Trans Euphrates so that they will provide me safe conduct
-
until I arrive in Judah? What is what is this verse
-
saying? Can we see it on the screen if
-
possible? Verse 7 If it pleases the king,
-
may I have letters to governors of Trans Euphrates so they so
-
that they will provide me safe conduct until I arrive in Judah.
-
So here what is happening here is he is having the letters
-
given so that he can travel safely to Judah.
-
Who can stop him? Now no one can stop him because
-
he is having the letters from the king.
-
So now those letters have lot of power.
-
The letter written by king number one thing that happened
-
when king gave the letter is tables were turned.
-
Everybody said tables were turned.
-
What is meant by tables were turned here there was a the art
-
exists. Art exists is the title like
-
Pharaoh. So you have more than one king
-
having the same kind of a title. During the time of Ezra, many
-
decades ago, they tried to rebuild the temple and people
-
complained saying, oh, if you allow these people to rebuild
-
it, this is going to revolt against you.
-
You are going to lose the taxes. They said, the king, art execs,
-
they said stop it. Stop the rebuilding of the
-
temple, stop the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem.
-
So now you are getting letters to reverse the same thing to say
-
let the walls be rebuilt. Do you do you see how it is
-
changing the letter? It is changing the situation
-
completely. It is turning other tables.
-
It is you are ignoble, reproach, put down, no safety, no
-
prosperity. You are being looted anytime,
-
every time. Now once you have the walls, it
-
is going to be everything going to be tables are going to be
-
turned. So I decree and declare, by the
-
power of the Holy Ghost, the table should be turned in your
-
own heart this morning, tables being should be turned.
-
Why is it important that? Well, as I was meditating on
-
that. Now Nema has letters.
-
What is the letters for letters to Asaph so that he may release
-
the timber required for the doors and anywhere it is
-
required, the SEDAR or whatever is required, oaks whatever needs
-
required. He has to release the timber for
-
the temple, for the gates and for the house he is going to
-
live. Usually it is built with stones
-
and mortar and things like that but inside the house it is
-
furnished with panels of wood and he needs lot of wood for
-
that. So he has a letters to for the
-
wood to be released and whatever help is required, they have to
-
give. They cannot touch him anymore
-
because he's coming not as a common citizen, but he's coming
-
back as a governor of Judah from the cub bearer.
-
He's putting on a hat of governor.
-
He is transitioning from cub bearer to a governor.
-
And I tell you, when you are in the plan of God, when you are in
-
the will of God, when you are doing His will, when you are
-
living for him, you will not be always a cup bearer, but you
-
will transition to become one with.
-
You will begin to move with authority.
-
You will walk in authority. Now what I want to focus on this
-
morning is just the letters. Will the walls be rebuilt?
-
He has letters. Will the walls be rebuilt?
-
No, he had to have a vision, he had to have a plan.
-
He had to speak to the people to motivate them.
-
He had to gather them together. He has to be praying all the
-
time. He prayed for 3-4 months.
-
He was traveling for four months and he arrived into Jerusalem
-
and all these 4-4 months of travel, he must have been crying
-
in his heart. God, I want you to give me
-
favor. Let the people believe me.
-
Let the people believe me. Let touch their hearts that they
-
will reunite and they may join me in this venture of rebuilding
-
the walls. He must be crying out as walking
-
every day morning to evening and he must be crying in his heart
-
for this favour, this revival to come so the walls can be rebuilt
-
and Nehemiah. So there are two things here. 1
-
is called positional, 1 is the positional, other is actual.
-
So one is here. He is having the positional
-
positionally he has everything released for him.
-
But actually it has not yet happened.
-
It has not happened. Tables turning of the tables
-
happens, happened even before, during when Esther was the
-
queen, tables were turned. How did he turn?
-
Haman succeeded in getting the king to stamp with his signet
-
ring and he cast lots and it fell on a day called pouring.
-
And pouring was the day they decided that all Jews all over
-
the Persian Kingdom must be killed in every city and village
-
finished, no Jews should be living anymore.
-
But when God intervened because, hey, Mordecai was seeking God,
-
because Esther was seeking God, God intervened, turned the
-
tables, and they reissued another letter on the same day.
-
Jews, you have the power to defend yourself and to kill your
-
enemies if required. And that day, when the Purim day
-
came, Jewish, Jewish people killed their enemies everywhere.
-
Tables were turned. Everybody said tables were
-
turned. And when Jesus crushed of
-
Nazareth, when he came and died upon the cross, there must have
-
been apparent celebration in the Kingdom of darkness where Satan
-
in Satans Kingdom, he must have said, yeah, we have put the Son
-
of God on the cross. We have succeeded in killing
-
him. We have won, we have won.
-
He did not stay long because Jesus Christ from that grave he
-
went into the Kingdom of darkness and he defeated the
-
force of darkness. He took the keys of Hades and
-
death and he has came out and that victory has to be
-
celebrated. That victory has to be crowns
-
and it sent shock waves in the city of Jerusalem and the tomb
-
was shaking. The earthquake was there and the
-
tombstone was rolled away to find Jesus not inside the board,
-
in that his body not in the tube anymore.
-
Tables were turned. Satan thought he won, but he
-
lost. He thought he won but is lost.
-
So in our lives we are saved. Everybody say we are saved, but
-
we are yet to be saved. Your your sins are forgiven.
-
You are justified. You are made holy.
-
You are given righteousness of Jesus Christ.
-
You are putting on like a robe upon you.
-
But a time is coming when you will be totally freed from the
-
presence of sin. Now power of sin.
-
You are set free from power of sin.
-
Sin cannot have dominion over you anymore.
-
Tables are turned, but you need to walk into it.
-
Just because you know the truth doesn't make you a St. doesn't
-
make you a man of power, doesn't make you to go and heal
-
everybody you come across, raise everybody from the dead.
-
It's not going to happen until there's a transition between
-
having the letter and possessing what the letter says.
-
Positionally, we are saved. One of the best things that I
-
ever have learnt in my life is a phrase in theology.
-
It is called already and not yet.
-
Everybody say already and not yet.
-
When we don't have this thing fixed in our mind, when we are
-
not aware of this truth, we are going to be disappointed.
-
Let's say who? I mean God has given us
-
authority to lay hands on the sick.
-
They shall recover. That's a promise.
-
Now we are praying for every week.
-
We are praying for people and sometimes they are not healed.
-
What is why it is not happening? So sometimes, you know, there
-
are times are gone. One time I went to Crushes
-
Hospital, someone said, oh, somebody's with cancer, would
-
you like to go and pray? I said, yeah, definitely.
-
I took somebody along with me and we went into the room and we
-
prayed fire to come down and to heal and to raise the person.
-
And when I came out, the man with me said that was a very,
-
very powerful prayer. Either they will live or die.
-
And the third day the person died.
-
What am I trying to say here? Is there is a potential for that
-
person to be healed when we pray?
-
But when it does not happen, what you have to pray as if you
-
are going to receive that answer, that person is going to
-
be healed when it does not happen, Its not in your domain
-
to feel about it. You don't be depressed about it.
-
You don't be detected about it. Oh God, I went and prayed in
-
your name, nothing happened. Oh that man died.
-
That can send me to depression, but this is what it is already
-
and knotted. There will be cases when people
-
are healed. There will be cases when people
-
will be delivered. There will be cases when we can
-
successfully throw out the devils, and sometimes we cannot.
-
And it is subject to certain things.
-
You need to grow in it. If I want to go into a shop and
-
let's say I want to buy this kind of a thing item there, and
-
that item says there's a label hanging, the $1000.
-
I quickly open my wallet, check how much money I have.
-
Yeah, $500 I have. Can I get it?
-
No, I need to have $1000. Every single dollar has to be
-
paid before I can take it and walk away.
-
Same way there is a place for discipline in prayer.
-
There is a place for discipline in studying the word of God
-
before the letter becomes actually you enter into the
-
meaning of the letter to possess the things that the letter is
-
giving you, you. There is a discipline of prayer,
-
study of the word, faith, growing in faith, growing in
-
faith. Every day I am crying out to
-
God. God, you said you, whoever
-
believes in you when he uses the word, whoever he doesn't talk
-
about the disciples anymore. He talks about anyone who is
-
going to believe in him is going to do what he does and greater
-
works than they shall he do. I am crying out, God, I need to
-
do this. I need to do what you have done.
-
I need to do what you have done. I've been praying for a couple
-
somewhere else in the in some part of the world for more than
-
six months. I am praying.
-
One time I prayed, the man was knocked down and he fell on the
-
bed happily. And I saw I was really a little
-
bit to know that he fell on the bed.
-
And other day when I prayed for him, the devil manifested and he
-
was looking into the camera and says I can't look into her, I
-
cannot look into your eyes. I'm afraid inside.
-
I'm afraid inside, separated by thousands of kilometers,
-
connected by Internet. He's looking into the camera, I
-
can't look into your eyes. I'm afraid inside.
-
I'm shaking inside. I said they will come out.
-
And I thought for a moment whether he's gone or I said, oh,
-
I don't think he's completely gone.
-
It took me 40 to 45 minutes of praying on the phone, WhatsApp.
-
And then he walked back and he was spitting out for me kind of
-
a thing from his mouth and through, you know, in his own
-
house. He was uncontrollably spitting
-
everywhere. And there was no one in the
-
house. His wife was not there.
-
And this guy ultimately walks down to the bed and there he, he
-
fell down on the bed. I said, OK, that's also good.
-
I think it is gone, but only to know that yesterday again, I
-
pray that is not gone. Now what am I trying to
-
communicate here? You can have a letter in your
-
hand. Jesus has given you the letter.
-
You shall cast out demons. Has he given you the letter?
-
Yes. But is it a reality yet?
-
Not 100%. So in between what happens, I
-
need to increase my faith. I need to study the Word, I need
-
to believe Him, I need to pray, I need to be more of the Holy,
-
fulfilled with the whole, more of the Holy Ghost.
-
Until it happens, I should not give up.
-
And many of us are confused when it comes to the New Testament
-
reality, the new creation reality.
-
Yeah, we are children of God. We are saved.
-
We are set free from the domain of Satan.
-
We are all these things we have. But again, He has given us
-
authority to cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead.
-
Blind eyes to be opened. Deaf, He has to be opened.
-
Lamb should walk, dead should be raised.
-
We have the letter in our hands, but we are not walking in it
-
yet. The challenge is to do.
-
If we have been doing it for 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, 40
-
years, it has not worked for us. We have not arrived there yet.
-
We had to change the way we do things.
-
I was talking to somebody. I said I am not praying enough
-
yet. I prayed yesterday 3 or 4 hours
-
for the service. I said I called on fire.
-
I said, oh, the whole heart, the church should be filled with the
-
glory of God and people should be, should not be able to stand
-
on their feet because of the glory of God as it happened in
-
the Old Testament. I have prayed, I have prayed, I
-
have prayed, but has it happened?
-
No. That means what?
-
I need to pray more and the church has to pray more to walk
-
into the reality of what is promised.
-
We have to pray. That's the call for 21 days of
-
prayer is that we should walk in Revival should come into Omega.
-
Revival should come into the city of Christchurch.
-
That is possible only this is the only one ingredient in the
-
recipe is the prayer is the most essential. 1.
-
You take it out, you will not have what you want to have.
-
You will not have an orange cake and there is no orange juice in
-
it and no orange rinse in it. Put in it.
-
It will not be an orange cake if it is a chocolate cake, it
-
didn't have chocolate for revival, we need one ingredient
-
is prayer. The Holy Spirit says, son, you
-
are saying the right thing right now.
-
So at the cross, tables are turned in our favor to rebuild
-
broken walls, to set up the gates, to restore dignity from
-
disgrace to dignity, to set our families free, to write your
-
future, pursue vision, His Kingdom.
-
All these things have been done, but we are not walking in it
-
yet. The look at the gates, they are
-
burned down. Look at the walls, they've been
-
broken down. And I tell you, the situation of
-
Jerusalem is the situation of every local church.
-
I'm not talking about only our church, Every church.
-
If you have eyes to open, you will see that the walls are
-
broken now and the gates have been burned down.
-
And I'm telling you, this is the story of families.
-
Every individual family can be affected in different ways, more
-
than we can ever imagine. People are affected in every
-
family. And what happens here?
-
Nehemiah comes after so many decades and walks into
-
Jerusalem, and then he says we should be rebuilding the walls.
-
People look at him and say why should we rebuild the walls now?
-
We have been living here for so many decades.
-
We are all right without walls being rebuilt.
-
Why do you want to tell us to rebuild?
-
There will be resistance to prayer.
-
There's one thing the devil fights you.
-
It will be the requirement to pray.
-
He will keep you engaged on your WhatsApp, on your Facebook, on
-
your YouTube or your any other kind of social media hours.
-
Together. He can keep you busy and He has
-
succeeded. He has succeeded.
-
You don't need another person to disturb you, just the little
-
thing. Maybe that should go on the
-
altar. It has to go on the altar.
-
Whatever comes between you and prayer, sacrifice it.
-
Sacrifice it. Bring it to God and say God, I
-
know this is important, but this is coming in my way between you
-
and me. I need to put it on the altar.
-
Whatever it is, it can be business, it can be anything,
-
relationship, Whatever it is, we need to do it.
-
So what is the difference between positional victory and
-
actual victory? Positional victory is like
-
having the letter that Nehemiah has.
-
Actual victory is walking in it, possessing it, enjoying it.
-
And there is a difference between these two.
-
We have our identity in Christ. We are children of God, saved by
-
from the power of sin, from the power of Satan.
-
But you have to overcome sin in many forms and grow in holiness
-
daily, not just once in a while. Daily we must have victory.
-
What is that besetting sin that is defeating you again and again
-
and again? And you are going back to God,
-
saying, Lord, please wash me in your blood and set me free.
-
That means we are not yet arrived there.
-
Authority. You are seated with crash in
-
heavenly places. You need to have increasing
-
dominion over sickness. Peace in all our relationships,
-
peace in all aspects of life such as finances, children's
-
welfare, personal health. Are we working in authority?
-
If not, we only have a letter in the hand.
-
We don't possess it yet, but the path is one man.
-
Ingredient is prayer. Believing I am a new creation
-
means they no longer need to wrestle with sin or develop
-
character. Some people think oh I'm a new
-
creation, I'm a new creation. They don't have a struggles with
-
flesh and blood and with the sin and Satan.
-
No, no, that is reality. You will have this fight with
-
the flesh. You will have the fight with the
-
devil. The new creation doesn't change
-
the situation. So when some people only believe
-
in positional authority and not actually possessing it, the
-
problem comes here is they may neglect spiritual disciplines
-
like prayer, accountability or scripture study.
-
We need not do that. Thinking I have authority in
-
class means every challenge will be instantly overcome.
-
Some people think like that, oh, I have authority, the problem
-
will be gone next moment. No, it will not.
-
You will stay there in the family, you will stay there in
-
your personal life and you will have to fight it.
-
You will have to root it out. There are times we will be
-
shouting and when we are delivering somebody, I will kick
-
you out. You devil, in the name of Jesus,
-
I kick you out. I kick you out, I kick you out.
-
We pray for an hour or two sometimes before the devil
-
ultimately leaves the person. And if it is so easy, why are we
-
working so hard? It will be foolish on our part
-
to be working hard. Some people ask me, why are you
-
crying, shouting like this for one hour, 2 hours?
-
Do you want to be free or you don't want to be free?
-
That's what I asked. Oh, I want to be free, so I
-
allowed to shout until that goes.
-
Or you are so desperate, so disgusted with you, so much
-
repulsing the its presence, you must be throwing it out by
-
yourself. God gives us personal victory,
-
our identity, authority, access to Him, but He also calls us to
-
work it out. That's the reason why Paul says
-
elsewhere in Philippians chapter 2, workout your own salvation
Philippians 2 chapter mention
-
with fear and trembling. We had to work it out.
-
We cannot just have 5 minutes quiet time and two minutes grace
-
for the food and expect everything to go well.
-
There's one thing that I learned in my life is prayer.
-
There was a time I was preaching.
-
Very busy morning. Early morning, 7:00, I'm
-
standing and preaching to the preachers, the pastors to
-
prepare them and then go to my work.
-
And the evening again. I take my motorway, drive for 40
-
kilometers and preach the Word. I get in the evening and all
-
night I'll be making notes. Early morning, 6:00, the Xerox
-
shop opens. I used to give it there and get
-
copies done. Go 7:00 again, stand there and
-
preach prayer out of the window. Would you ask me now?
-
I would rather pray than preach 3 times a day.
-
No, I'm not interested. I am not interested to preach 40
-
messages in a month. No, I have done it and you had
-
not done anything. No change anywhere.
-
I'm happy to be on my knees praying because that is going to
-
move the mountains. That's going to move the
-
mountains. So that's all about verse 7.
-
Having a letter in your hand is not going to change that.
-
The walls will rebuild by itself.
-
He had to envision, he had to have a plan.
-
He had to motivate the people. He had to inspire people.
-
He had to gather the people and he had to make them do things.
-
And they had to say, he said let us rebuild the walls.
-
And they had to say let us rebuild the walls.
-
We need to have that, we need to do it.
-
I am saying this 21 days. Whatever is inconvenience you
-
have, consider it as a sacrifice for God.
-
The petrol you have to spend the time, you may be just losing
-
some time on your YouTube messages.
-
Don't worry about it. Come for prayer because in the
-
corporate trade something happens when people gather
-
together and pray something happens.
-
There is power in united agreeing prayer of unity of mind
-
is great power. So we see many things in this
-
chapter that when this when the news went around that Nehemiah
-
has come into Jerusalem. The news went to a certain group
-
of people. Verse 10 send ballot the
-
Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite.
-
The official heard about it this.
-
They were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote
-
the welfare of the Israelites. When we want to rebuild the
-
walls, there will be people who will be disturbed, there will be
-
people who will be unhappy. So these guys, who are these
-
guys? Sun Ballad is a Samaritan and
-
Tobiah is an Ammonite. Who are the Ammonites?
-
You know when Moses said let the people out of Egypt and when he
-
comes to certain place the Ammonites are the Moabites are
-
the ones who came and attacked, are seduced and made them commit
-
sin for God was very angry with the people of Israel killed.
-
Many thousands were killed on that day.
-
The same guy is now opposing the work of God and he has a name
-
Tobiah, which is a Hebrew name. A Hebrew name does not guarantee
-
his heart is for God. Someone can have a name called
-
Jacob or John or Peter or any other name.
-
It doesn't guarantee their heart is for the Kingdom of God.
-
You can bear the name, but not the have the heart.
-
And they were opposing, they were displeased.
-
And one of the things that you see here is when he came to
-
Jerusalem, there were army officers with him and cavalry
-
with him. Cavalry, that is soldiers were
-
there with him. But you know what Nehemiah did,
-
you don't hear about the rest of the book.
-
You will not hear about this army, the cavalry, the army
-
officers. You don't hear Why?
-
Because Nehemiah said this rebuilding of the wall is a
-
spiritual activity and it cannot be accomplished with the might.
-
He said I will not, I will not use the soldiers to rebuild the
-
walls. What?
-
What kind of a stance is that? Spiritual work has to be done in
-
a spiritual way, not political way.
-
We cannot bring politics into the Church of God because church
-
is a spiritual place and you have to do things spiritually,
-
not politically here. So he refused to use the
-
soldiers. He refused to use their
-
presence. So he must have said after a few
-
days, OK, thanks guys, I'm safely arrived into Jerusalem.
-
Now you can go back to Persia, go back to Susa, the capital.
-
I will handle this matter myself.
-
How many of us have that kind of a courage, that kind of a
-
commitment, that kind of AI mean a heart like a lion to say, I
-
will take this matter into my hands.
-
I tell you that requires a lot of determination, that requires
-
a lot of commitment, that requires a lot of guts.
-
I would say to work for the Kingdom of God is not something
-
easy is not something easy. We need to have that kind of a
-
thing. And then he says in verse 11, I
-
went, I went to Jerusalem and after staying there three days,
-
he, this man has travelled for 4-4 months on foot, walking
-
every day, morning to evening. And now he says comes into the
-
city and he's taking how many days rest?
-
Three days. If I were in that place for one
-
month, I would have been sleeping.
-
We just had a tour of America for one month and for one week
-
we were nearly two weeks it took for us to recover.
-
And I think probably Nehemiah did not have jet lag because he
-
was transitioning slowly through the timeline.
-
I mean, that may be one of the reasons.
-
I was thinking why did he do what he did?
-
I was thinking about it. Probably that could be the
-
reason. But if you are determined to
-
fight, if you are determined to stand, if you are determined to
-
accomplish the vision that we have for our lives, there has to
-
be a fight and there has to be shedding of the blood.
-
There has to be a struggle and we should be prepared for it.
-
One of the things they will, they are going to ask the
-
question is what is this guy coming from Persia?
-
What do you know about Jerusalem?
-
You just came yesterday. But we are living here for so
-
many decades. You want to rebuild the walls?
-
Forget it, man. It is not easy job.
-
It is not. People would be discouraged.
-
And I tell you, when we talk about prayer changing things,
-
people will resist the same way. Why things are not changing, the
-
family, finance, health, why they are not changing?
-
Because we are not willing to pray.
-
Oh no, no, we pray. OK.
-
What kind of prayer is it? I'm not trying to disqualify or
-
put down anybody's prayer. That's not my point.
-
My point is there is a way of engaging your heart with the
-
heart of God where you know this man.
-
He could not, I'm sure when he went around looking for the
-
thing. One of the things that we says
-
here about Nehemiah is he he was there only for three days.
-
He took rest and then immediately jumped into action.
-
What did he do? I set out during the night with
-
a few men. After three days he was
-
interacting with the people who were coming and talking to him,
-
and he must have said this guy has a heart Fogger, this guy has
-
a heart Fogger, that guy has a heart Fogger.
-
OK, you see me after three days in the night and they come meet
-
him in the night and he takes a mule or a donkey and that's the
-
only mount he had with him. And they inspected the walls and
-
he went around the city and where did he begin?
-
Sorry, Can we have the map please?
-
Not this one, please. One more.
-
Ah, yeah, that's the one. Now he begins his thing from
-
here. The Valley Gate.
-
That's probably his. He must have found a house to
-
live somewhere nearby. So he chooses to start from
-
there. He goes down.
-
He goes to Jackal. Jack.
-
Jackal. Well, it must be about 500 yards
-
from Valley Gate, Jackal. Well, probably inside the wall
-
probably. And then he goes down to Kings
-
Garden and he comes to Dung Gate here.
-
And then from the Dung Gate he goes to Fountain Gate and then
-
he goes to up through, he comes up to Watergate.
-
But then you see here there is a wall here, this light line here,
-
that must be the wall that's been broken down.
-
And there's so much of rubbish, there's so much of rubble, you
-
cannot walk there. So he says when my mount had we,
-
we came to place where the mount had no place to go.
-
So he left the mount there and he went on foot.
-
He walked in the darkness. He walked and what did he do?
-
He took probably this is the wall rebuilt by Nehemiah because
-
it's impossible to rebuild this one.
-
It's like a valley, it's on the slope and rubble.
-
It is very hard to rebuild it again.
-
So what he did was he changed the plan and he said let's
-
rebuild inside like this. So one of the things that did is
-
there is a kings house here somewhere and one of the walls
-
of the king, they use it as a wall for the city wall.
-
You know what certain things are?
-
Some information that I learned as I was studying this is what
-
would be the perimeter of Jerusalem in Neymar's time.
-
If you start from here, you go around like this.
-
It's about 1.5 miles. That is 2.4 kilometers.
-
Sometimes we think Jerusalem or must be a big city.
-
It was not, at least during the time of Nehemiah, it was very,
-
very small and it was smaller still in the time of Solomon.
-
Because here you have got about 10 gates.
-
You start from here, Valley Gate, and then you got this Dung
-
gate and you got a fountain gate, Watergate, Horse gate,
-
Eastgate. Don't think this is crashed
-
gate, Eastgate Ship Gate and the Fish gate and Eshana Gate.
-
All this gets 10 gates are there, but during the time of
-
Solomon there are only 5 or 6. The walls were not completely
-
rebuilt, must be done afterward. But now Nebuchadnezzar comes and
-
he pulls down everything. So I was thinking what part of
-
the area he would have come and attacked because it is fortified
-
all around. This side is valley, This side
-
is valley. So when Nehemiah came up to this
-
point and this was all rubble, he must have gone away from here
-
and walked down like this and again retreated back and back up
-
to Valley Gate and finished the trip to 2.4km multiplied by two,
-
4.8 kilometers. So we must have taken 3, two
-
hours leisure walking, two hours or three hours to go around and
-
come back. But what did he do?
-
He did not let anybody know about it.
-
He did secretly sometimes is a quality of leadership is they
-
should not speak their mind until it's the right time to
-
speak. And Nehemiah was a great leader.
-
He knew how to communicate and when to communicate.
-
So he said, no, no, I'm not going to tell anybody about it.
-
By night I went out through the valley gate toward the Jackal
-
well and during Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem
-
to understand the structure of Jerusalem and the work that is
-
done. You need to study Chapter 3 to
-
understand Chapter 2. Because here you see, he started
-
visiting or checking out from the valley gate.
-
But when they begin the work, they start from the ship gate
-
and like this. And he divided the whole wall
-
into 41 or 42 sections and alerting them to different
-
leaders to rebuild near their own home.
-
I don't want to hurry up, but we'll study that in chapter 3.
-
But the point here is he had to move away from the rubbish
-
rubble and then he had to walk and then he examined.
-
Now one of the things that I want you to understand here is
-
the word used there in verse 13. By night I went out through the
-
valley gate toward the Jackal well and the Dung Gate,
-
examining the walls of Jerusalem.
-
Everybody say examining. What is this word examining?
-
Examining is a medical word. When you have a wound, sometimes
-
it is covered with dry, you know all kinds of material there and
-
then you want to know how deep is the wound.
-
You lift it up and probe. That is what he did.
-
He probed the damage to the walls in the night, going on the
-
foot, going on the mule. And I tell you, we need to take
-
stock of our own families, our own, our own business, our own
-
relationships and look at it where it is hurting.
-
Lift the lid, lift that debris, lift that pus and see how deep
-
is it that is hurting. And that requires a lot of
-
courage to look at your own problem that way.
-
And he did it. He did it for the city.
-
He did it for the people. And examine the walls of
-
Jerusalem which have been broken down, at gates which have been
-
burned down. He was probing to find out how
-
deep is the problem. Then he moved on to Fountain
-
Gate and the King's Pool. Of course, I just showed all
-
those things here. Fountain Gate is here.
-
King's Pool is here. This is a little bit puzzling to
-
me why he mentioned Fountain Gate and then mentions the
-
King's Pool here. This is also called Pool of
-
Siloam. You know what is the Pool of
-
Siloam is all standing for? It stands for Revelation.
-
It is Jesus said to one of the blind men, What did he say?
-
He put some mud on his eyes and say go and wash in the pool of
-
Siloam. And he went there and washed his
-
eyes in this place and he came back seeing.
-
We need that. We need ice to be washed.
-
We need to regain our sight and only then we will be able to see
-
properly what is the condition we are living in.
-
The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing,
-
because as yet I had said nothing to the Jews or the
-
priests or the nobles or the officials or any others who
-
would be doing the work. He kept some things secret, and
-
some things have to be told publicly, But there's a time,
-
right? Time for it.
-
Then he said to them, You see the trouble we are in, You see
-
the trouble we are in, the gates have been burned with fire.
-
Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and we will no longer
-
be in disgrace. You know the word disgrace.
-
It's just not a good word at all.
-
When a woman in Israel did not have children, it was a
-
disgrace. And when the walls are broken
-
down, gates are burned down, it's a disgrace because anybody
-
can come in and walk into the city and attack the people and
-
loot the people. So we need to know what are the
-
areas of our life, family, children that are born down
-
where, where the walls are broken down, where the gates are
-
bound on. And I tell you, I had, I will be
-
praying for my children. I will be praying for future.
-
Sometimes I'll have to say, God, you need to do this for the
-
future. I am praying now whether I am
-
there or not. Remember that I have prayed this
-
good thing should come to my children.
-
You need to have foresight in prayer and you need to do it and
-
God will answer his prayer and he says let us rebuild the wall
-
of Jerusalem and we will no longer be in disgrace.
-
I also told him about the gracious hand of my God up God
-
upon me. Now this is a testimony time he
-
was, he heard the news broken down by the news.
-
Weeping, crying, praying in public place until people
-
walking by passing by say, oh, why is this man crying?
-
Why are you crying Nehemiah? Because the walls are broken
-
down and the gates are burned down.
-
Oh, I'm crying for the things to be revealed.
-
I'm crying for Gods mercy. Oh is it so?
-
I will join you in prayer. I will join you in prayer.
-
I will join you in prayer. After a month or two, there's a
-
big gang of people who are praying there.
-
A moment of prayer came. But then here he says after the
-
three months or four months of prayer, he goes to the king and
-
he looks sad and he says why? And you know all that we have
-
talked about in the previous message, he's telling how the
-
king had granted him the permission to go back and the
-
letters to governors of transiferates and letters to
-
Asaph and the cavalry and the army officers.
-
This is a testimony time when he shared the testimony how God's
-
hand was upon him. This is a phrase you will see in
-
the book of name again and again how God's hand has been upon
-
him. That is the testimony that will
-
stir up the people to say, I believe what you are saying.
-
I believe God is going to help us.
-
Let us rebuild. Is anybody with me?
-
And then you see, they replied, let us start.
-
Let us start rebuilding. He says, let us rebuild.
-
And now they are responding, let us start rebuilding.
-
In between the time of the time is the time of testimony.
-
Testimony has a power to stir. Testimony has a power to boost
-
the faith of the people. Testimony has a power that will
-
help you to achieve what is beyond achievement, normal
-
achievement power. That faith comes with testimony,
-
and I tell you, I have seen again and again the power of
-
prayer. I cannot Live Today on the
-
prayers I have prayed last week. I cannot Live Today on the
-
prayers I have prayed last month.
-
I cannot Live Today on the prayers I have prayed last year.
-
No, you need to be praying today for answers for today.
-
So verse 19. But when Sun ballot the horror
-
night, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab
-
heard about it. They mocked and ridiculed us.
-
They mocked and ridiculed us. What is this you're doing?
-
They asked. Are you rebelling against the
-
king? You see what?
-
When you want to walk in faith, when you want to pray, people
-
are going to mock you. Hey, you've been praying the
-
same prayer for 10 years. Why are you praying again?
-
You're wasting your time. They're going to mock the devil
-
will use people among your friends, among your relatives,
-
in your family. They will put you down because
-
you pray. Sometimes you are you are
-
praying, you're trying to walk with God and you lose your
-
temper and you're angry with somebody in the family.
-
Somebody will say, ha, I saw you praying all week and what is
-
this? You're losing your temper right
-
now. They'll mock you.
-
It doesn't cancel the prayer that you have prayed.
-
But what I'm trying to say here is don't worry about this.
-
Praying is a business between you and God.
-
No one can, no one should influence what you say, how you
-
pray. It is between you and God, a
-
business one-on-one you look into the face of God, stand in
-
His glory, stand in His presence and hear His voice and do His
-
will. That is the model.
-
And people who mock will be silenced automatically.
-
And second thing they did was after mocking, ridiculing, they
-
said, are you rebeling against the king?
-
This worked few decades ago when Ezra was trying to rebuild a
-
temple. They said they sent a letter,
-
these people are rebelling against you.
-
And now they are saying the same, same words.
-
Are you trying to rebel against the king?
-
It worked then. But Neymar said, no, I'm not
-
listening to you guys. I have the letter from the king.
-
I am going to build, but you will not have a share in it.
-
You know when you are convinced about your vision, when you are
-
convinced about your purpose, when you are convinced about
-
what God wants to do, then you are not going to be moved away
-
by other people coming and doing anything.
-
Whatever they say, whatever they do, you are not going to be
-
moved by it because you know that you have heard from God and
-
you know that you have received a vision from God and you wanted
-
to come to pass in your life during your lifetime, in your
-
city, in your church. You are going to be committed to
-
the vision. Nobody can put you away from it.
-
Nobody can discourage you. The question is, do you have a
-
vision for yourself? Do you have vision for the
-
family? Do you have vision for the
-
church? Do you have vision for the city?
-
I think I should finish it there.
-
So verse 20, he says I answered them saying the God of heaven
-
will give us success. We his servants will start
-
rebuilding. But As for you, you have no
-
share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.
-
You know, this is this is what is happening even today in
-
Israel, isn't it everybody trying to do the same thing.
-
Syria is trying to attack from the north.
-
Iran is trying to attack from the east and all things are
-
happening there and trying. Russia is trying to support the
-
Iranians. All these things are happening.
-
But you know what, that country stands as a sign in the End
-
Times. Whether you agree or disagree
-
about the place of Israel, some people, you know, say, oh, they
-
are killing so many people in Gaza.
-
True. I am not saying they are doing
-
the right thing. Does not cancel that Israel is a
-
sign in the end times. They are not a godly people, I
-
agree, but doesn't cancel that they are a people God has
-
chosen. Put a stamp upon it and you need
-
to be looking at that nation to know when crash is coming back.
-
And moreover, we should know who is the Ammonite, who is the
-
Tobiah, who is this sun ballad, who is the geisha and the Arab
-
who is trying to enter in your life to disturb you.
-
You should know how to identify your enemy and shut them up so
-
that you will keep doing what God wants you to do.
-
Shall we pray? Commit yourself to pray from
-
Monday, from tomorrow, 21 days and see what God is going to do
-
to change personal life, family, finance, church, City.
-
We need change, we need revival, we need the hand I've got upon
