  1. I want to say thank you again for the opportunity to be here and to worship, and Father I do

  2. pray this morning that you would speak powerfully into our hearts, and Lord as all these men

  3. and women are here, and Lord whether they came reluctantly or they came willingly, Father

  4. we do have a wonderful opportunity to meet with you and to experience you in a special

  5. and a new way.

  6. And Father I pray that you would help us to be humble this morning and have a desire within

  7. our hearts to know you more, to surrender to you and to listen to your voice and to be

  8. obedient to it.

  9. And Father we do not deserve that opportunity, we don't deserve the opportunity to be in this

  10. place, but Lord I do pray that you would remind us of how very important it is to just open

  11. up our hearts and open up our ears and listen to you, to be receptive of how you lead us,

  12. of how you call us.

  13. Father I pray that you would help us to see how important it is that we gather together

  14. with other believers and to just speak the name of Jesus out loud, and to proclaim all

  15. the many wonderful things that you've done in our life.

  16. Lord this morning help us to surrender, help us to be pleasing and honoring to you.

  17. And Father for all of our shut-ins who aren't able to be here today, Lord we lift them

  18. up to you as many have physical issues, and Lord many have just emotional heartaches that

  19. are going on right now in their lives, and Father we just lift them up to you because

  20. only you can comfort them and speak into their hearts in ways that we would never

  21. be able to.

  22. And Father in these moments we pray that your Holy Spirit would be present in this place

  23. and in our hearts, and that we would be humble and submissive, and allow you to speak to

  24. us and guide us, and to teach us new things, and to open up our eyes to things we've never

  25. seen before.

  26. Lord we love you, and we thank you, and we ask all this in Jesus precious and holy

  27. name and all God's people said, amen, you may be seated.

  28. We're talking about receiving a new heart, and last week we talked about the desire that's

  29. needed in order for you to receive it.

  30. Not to just be satisfied with the wonderful experience we have whenever we are saved, and

  31. the Lord comes into our life, and he does these wonderful works in the very beginning,

  32. and those are so exciting times, and to receive that new heart then, but also to just kind

  33. of have this attitude and this desire in our lives as believers and followers of Christ,

  34. that we are wanting to receive a new heart regularly.

  35. So this morning we're talking about a different aspect of talking about the transplant that

  36. takes place whenever God comes into our life, and he does give us a new heart.

  37. Now as we said last week whenever you first get saved that process happens, but I do believe

  38. as Christians we have this calling on our life to be humble and submissive enough to

  39. the Lord to allow him to come in and to do those new works in our life, to give us new

  40. hearts in various aspects of our life and in times of our life, because there are times

  41. where things happen where we aren't necessarily willing to surrender in this moment or this

  42. area or this circumstance like we had surrendered and allowed God to work and move in the

  43. past, and so we need that continual aspect of humility and submission to allow God to

  44. do that great work within us, and so there has to be a desire in your life to allow that

  45. to happen, and this ties into our sermon today where we talk about this transplant

  46. because if you know anyone who's ever had a transplant, a heart transplant or any vital

  47. organ transplant, it's serious.

  48. I mean I don't know if I've ever met someone who is excited to go into surgery at all,

  49. like I have a surgery I'm putting off that I probably need done and I just don't want

  50. to do it because I'm just like I don't want to endure the process of the surgery and

  51. the recovery, so nobody's excited about it, but when you take the aspect of going in

  52. for a transplant and they're literally taking out, especially if you look at it from your

  53. heart, like they're taking out the very thing that gives you life of what you have to come

  54. to terms with mentally and emotionally as a human being to be able to go into that room

  55. and subject yourself to what's going to happen on that operating table and put your hands

  56. in all those people who are performing that procedure, and they're going to take out

  57. the thing that gives you life and then put a brand new heart within you, what you have

  58. to come to terms with in yourself to be even willing to put yourself in that position.

  59. It's something that you just can't fathom.

  60. You have to be at the point where you realize I'm going to die anyway.

  61. In my life, the quality of my life is so low right now that I'm willing to put myself

  62. on that table knowing that this might be it, and I may not come out of this room because

  63. if I don't go and do this, I'm going to die anyway, and this gives me a chance to have

  64. something better.

  65. There has to be a desire in our lives to let God come in and to do that transplant to

  66. give us a new heart and a new life, and that's kind of what we're talking about today.

  67. I want to read to you a passage from Ezekiel chapter 36, and this is verses 25 through

    Ezekiel 36 chapter mention

  68. 27, just three verses, really short, but it's some really great verses as Ezekiel is delivering

  69. this message from the Lord to the people of Israel.

  70. God says in verse 25, he says, then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will

  71. be clean.

  72. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols, and I will give you

  73. a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you.

  74. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart, and

  75. I will put my spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey

  76. my regulations.

  77. That's powerful, and this is Old Testament, like this is pre-Jesus, this is pre-Messiah,

  78. and so what God is talking about to the people of Israel is leading into this time where

  79. we can actually receive Christ in our lives, and this process can actually happen to give

  80. us these new hearts and this new spirit within us that we so desperately need, and I'm going

  81. to tell you guys, even for people who have transplants, if you don't take the medications,

  82. you don't do all the right stuff, and you don't take care of it, chances are you're

  83. going to find yourself pretty quickly just needing another one, and the truth is as

  84. Christians we don't guard ourselves and protect ourselves and take care of ourselves spiritually

  85. speaking like we should, and so chances are we probably need to have some work done in

  86. our lives spiritually for our spiritual hearts, not necessarily our physical, but our spiritual

  87. hearts, and that's what we're talking about today.

  88. So point number one, I want us to see from these passages, is that God wants to wash

  89. you clean.

  90. This is really important in our lives to understand that any time Jesus or God talks about making

  91. us new, it is always coupled with the washing with water and the renewal of the spirit.

  92. They are coupled together every single time.

  93. God wants to wash us clean on the outside, and at the same time, He wants to make you

  94. clean on the inside, and we're going to talk about why that's so important this morning.

  95. A lot of physical implications, but more importantly, the spiritual implications behind that.

  96. So as you talk about being washed clean, you have to understand that right now, even on

  97. your physical body, there are germs on your physical body, right?

  98. That's why we wash ourselves.

  99. I don't know if you know this or not, we're pretty gross.

  100. People are gross.

  101. It doesn't matter how clean you try to be, you're still gross.

  102. Very few people are willing to touch one another or put themselves in situations to

  103. be around or close proximity to one another, because we know we all carry germs, and I'm

  104. the type of person, I wake up gross.

  105. I have to take a bath every day.

  106. Even if I take a bath at night, when I wake up in the morning, I'm gross, I'm taking

  107. a bath again.

  108. That's a wonderful privilege to have, and I take advantage of it because I'm gross.

  109. When you go in for surgery, it is so important for you to make sure that you are clean,

  110. that the doctors will send you home with a special soap that you have to wash your

  111. entire body with to kill all the germs on the outside of your body as much as you possibly

  112. can so that when you go into that surgery, the germs on the outside of your body don't

  113. find their way on the inside of your body.

  114. It helps prevent infection.

  115. We're talking about physical stuff right now, okay?

  116. It's so important that whenever you go in for surgery and they're prepping you, even

  117. after you have washed yourself in that soap, that special soap that they give you, your

  118. entire body, when you go in, they will start sealing off everything around you they're

  119. about to do, everything around you they're about to cut, they'll start sealing off,

  120. and then whenever they cleanse a certain area with betadine, it's pretty similar to iodine,

  121. it's betadine, to kill any germs that may have gotten on you since you washed yourself with

  122. this soap that you're supposed to wash yourself with because the likelihood of exterior bacteria

  123. or germs getting inside of you during surgery is so high, they have to take so many precautions

  124. that when they're taking the tools out and the scalpels and all the stuff they do surgery

  125. with, if anything is not handled the right way, they throw it away and they just bring

  126. out something new.

  127. It's that important.

  128. And so let's talk about this from a spiritual perspective, that we walk through a world

  129. that is full, full and contaminated with endless amounts of sin and things that is in this

  130. world that we walk through and we're just kind of accustomed to, it's kind of like

  131. your skin, tons of bacteria on you right now, whether you realize or not.

  132. And if you shook hands, we all shared it this morning.

  133. I'm sorry, I probably shared bacteria with you because I was shaking all kinds of hands

  134. this morning and telling people, hey, and if we're not careful, the likelihood of that

  135. bacteria making its way inside is pretty high.

  136. And so spiritually speaking, as we walk through this sinful world, you may not necessarily

  137. be deviling in sin willfully right now, like some of you might be willfully living in sin

  138. and it's corrupting you and it's eating inside.

  139. It's eating with your spirit and your heart and your relationship with God.

  140. But as we walk through this physical, sinful world, we are dealing with the residue and

  141. the crustiness of the sin that exists in our world.

  142. And we deal with that every single day.

  143. And we have to be very careful to make sure that we are washing ourselves and being cleaned

  144. and purified from a spiritual perspective so that that stuff doesn't make its way inside

  145. of our hearts.

  146. And that can happen.

  147. If it can happen on your physical body, because you know this, you've had to go, I'm sure

  148. there's some of us here who have had infections and things, stuff that we've had to go and

  149. get cut out, whether it's types of cancer or something like that, where it stuff from

  150. the outside can get on the inside and it causes problems.

  151. And do not think that walking through this sinful world, that it's not going to have

  152. an impact on your heart and your spirit and your relationship with God.

  153. And so when God speaks to the people of Israel and he talks about what Jesus can

  154. do, he always talks about being washed clean.

  155. There is a need for the outside of us to be cleansed regularly.

  156. That's very symbolic because we talk about baptism.

  157. We talk about all these processes, all these procedures.

  158. And in Matthew chapter 15, verse 18 through 19, Jesus is speaking to his disciples and

    Matthew 15:18–19

  159. he starts talking about this and he says, but the words that you speak come from the

  160. heart.

  161. That's what defiles you.

  162. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality,

  163. theft, lying and slander.

  164. And so I want you to see this morning that if whatever is within comes out of you,

  165. that's where it comes from.

  166. It comes from within.

  167. It comes from your heart.

  168. It comes from your inner being.

  169. You also have to realize that what's on the outside, if we're not careful, can

  170. make its way in.

  171. It becomes part of who we are, your body, your skin.

  172. It protects you in amazing ways.

  173. But if exposed to enough of a substance or bacteria or a germ or anything, it can

  174. permeate. It can invade.

  175. You can absorb it and it can harm your body internally.

  176. And so we have to be really careful that we're protecting ourselves from a

  177. spiritual method to make sure that we're washing ourselves clean.

  178. And no, you can't go hop in the shower and wash sin off.

  179. So you can go like you can clean yourself and be as clean as you want to be.

  180. But you can't do that.

  181. And so as you walk through this sinful world, you have to be really careful.

  182. Like none of you are going to go like, hey, there's a pile of poop.

  183. I think I'll roll around in that.

  184. Nobody in their right mind does that.

  185. And so we have to be careful to stay away from things that we know, like

  186. that's gross.

  187. That has germs.

  188. That can make me sick.

  189. We see someone sick and we see someone coughing.

  190. We may like, hey, you need anything?

  191. OK, well, I'm going to keep my distance from you because I don't want what you

  192. have. It's amazing how we protect ourselves in physical ways.

  193. But in spiritual ways, we very much set ourselves up to be exposed to

  194. sinfulness. And you look at all those things that it was mentioning, evil

  195. thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, lying, slander, all

  196. those things that come from within.

  197. If we allow ourselves to be exposed to it constantly, we absorb it.

  198. We're consumers. As people, we consume.

  199. We take everything in and we may not necessarily be like, yeah, I'm going to

  200. take that and eat it.

  201. But if you expose yourself to something long enough, chances are it's going to

  202. make its way inside.

  203. And the idea of being washed is something that's talked about all

  204. throughout scripture in Leviticus eight.

  205. When God calls the people of Israel and he's setting up the tabernacle

  206. system and the worship system in the tabernacle, God instructs Moses to

  207. bring Aaron and his sons out because they're the Levites.

  208. They're going to be the priests.

  209. They're going to be the ones operating the day in and day out spiritual

  210. aspects of the community of Israel.

  211. And he has them brought in and he strips them down and the whole

  212. community of Israel has to come at the entrance of the tabernacle and

  213. they have to witness this.

  214. He strips them out and he washes them in front of everyone and he

  215. dresses them in their new priestly garments to symbolize the

  216. washing, the preparedness of them to do spiritual things.

  217. And he's redressing them so that they can now do the duties that God is

  218. called to do.

  219. There's always this aspect of being washed clean.

  220. And as we can't just hop in the shower and wash ourselves spiritually,

  221. it's an attitude of the heart.

  222. There has to be this desire within our hearts to say, God, I know

  223. that I'm sinful.

  224. I know that I'm dirty.

  225. I know that I've been walking through a sinful world.

  226. I know that everything I see on TV is probably not pleasing to you.

  227. Everything I hear at work, probably not pleasing to you.

  228. Everything that's going on, even the things that I say, cleanse me,

  229. make me new, wash me clean.

  230. That goes back to last week's sermon we talked about the desire.

  231. The desire has to be in your heart for you and I to cry out to our

  232. heavenly father and say, God, wash me clean.

  233. I need to be clean on the outside because I don't need what's on the

  234. outside to penetrate and come on the inside.

  235. Point number two.

  236. God will take out the old heart.

  237. And this is the fearful, like violent process that everyone is

  238. terrified about.

  239. If you're sitting here this morning and you are saved and you've

  240. received, you've at least done this like one time, this initial

  241. time in your life where God has given you a new heart and he saved

  242. you and he pulled you out of what you was, you realize and

  243. understand how wonderful and amazing this is.

  244. Like you walk through the door, you walk through the fire and

  245. on the other side you can look back and you're like, I'm so

  246. thankful I did that.

  247. And as Miss Sheila talked about this idea of standing up and

  248. being thankful to God in front of people is so important

  249. because there are people out here in this room.

  250. There are people out in those outside these walls who need to

  251. hear that I laid on that table and instead of an operating

  252. table, it's an altar.

  253. It's a sacrificial altar and I laid on that altar and God gave

  254. me a new heart and he cleansed me and he made me new.

  255. And it was the best thing that I ever did.

  256. And you should do the same thing because here's what's

  257. happening.

  258. Most people know that they need a change in their life.

  259. They know that they need to be cleansed from sin.

  260. They know that they need a new heart.

  261. But then there's this idea, is it worth me putting myself to

  262. death so that I can be alive and will it be worth it on

  263. the other side?

  264. You remember we talked about a second ago, like the mental

  265. the mental state that you have to be in to be willing to lay

  266. on that table and let somebody take your heart out and put a

  267. new one in to know that my life is so bad right now and I

  268. feel so bad and I'm so limited in what I can do and what I

  269. can't do that I'm willing to subject myself to death in this

  270. moment so that I can have something better and live

  271. better for the future.

  272. And that's the decision that every single one of us has had

  273. to make or the decision that we're facing right now.

  274. And if you're ministering to other people and you're

  275. witnessing them you're trying to tell them hey you need to

  276. accept Jesus that's the decision that they're having to

  277. make because they are contemplating right now is it

  278. worth me putting myself to death my thoughts my desires my

  279. hobbies my interests everything that I've worked for

  280. relationships friendships is it worth me losing all these

  281. things to have this new heart and this new life and am I

  282. going to look back on the other side and say that was

  283. absolutely worth it I wish I'd done it 20 years ago and for

  284. you as a Christian you need to be the first one to stand up

  285. and say it's absolutely worth it I should have done it

  286. years ago my life would have been so much better if I

  287. would have done it years ago if I would have got rid of

  288. that old stuff in my life and let God take care of that

  289. years ago my life would be so much better now and you

  290. should do it right now don't wait because the longer you

  291. wait the worse you're going to feel and the worse life

  292. is going to be and life is so much better when Jesus with

  293. a new heart than what it was before they need people to

  294. testify to stand up and say it is absolutely worth it

  295. because if they don't hear someone saying it's worth it

  296. they're never going to lay down on that table and

  297. they're never going to let their heavenly father open

  298. them up and gut them from the inside and take out

  299. everything within them that's unpleasing and

  300. unclean and unhealthy and put a new heart and a new

  301. spirit within them a tender heart that's willing to

  302. listen and obey that's what we need and in John

    John 3:3–7

  303. chapter 3 verses 3 to 7 Jesus has this awesome

  304. conversation with this religious leader named

  305. Nicodemus who comes in the middle of the night he

  306. says Jesus how do you get eternal life and Jesus

  307. says I'll tell you the truth unless you were born

  308. again you cannot see the kingdom of God what do

  309. you mean exclaim Nicodemus how can an old man go

  310. back into his mother's womb and be born again and

  311. Jesus replied I assure you no one can enter the

  312. kingdom of God without being born of water and

  313. spirit there it is again no one can enter the

  314. kingdom of God without being cleansed on the

  315. outside and made new on the inside humans can

  316. reproduce only human life but the Holy Spirit

  317. gives birth to spiritual life so don't be surprised

  318. when I say you must be born again and guys we

  319. said it a while ago from whatever is then that's

  320. what comes out you can put lipstick on a pig but

  321. it's not going to stay very long and we can fake

  322. it and we can play pretend and we can try to look

  323. good on the outside but whatever is on the

  324. outside is going to eventually need to be

  325. washed and cleansed and done again and so

  326. everything on the outside needs to be washed

  327. clean regularly and needs to be taken care of

  328. so that what's on the inside can be preserved

  329. and maintained but the problem is is that God

  330. has to be the one who does the work on the

  331. inside because you can't cut yourself open and

  332. do it yourself God has to do that for you and

  333. even if you've got a new physical heart it's

  334. not going to change the sinfulness and the

  335. desires and the anger and the resentment

  336. and everything that's going on within your

  337. heart God has to be the one to take that stony

  338. old dead thing out and give you a new tender

  339. loving heart that's going to be willing to be

  340. obedient to him and it's going to change every

  341. aspect of who you are and that is a good

  342. thing it shouldn't be something that we're

  343. afraid of it should be something that we

  344. welcome but we're afraid because we don't know

  345. if we're going to like that we don't know if

  346. it's going to be worth it but the great

  347. thing about it is when God does that work in

  348. your life it changes who you are changes

  349. your desires don't get me wrong because

  350. there's still things that I'm still

  351. tempted by but there are many things in

  352. my life that before I got saved when God

  353. came into my life the desires of my heart

  354. changed the things that I enjoyed the

  355. things that I looked forward to the

  356. things that I aspired to be it changed

  357. God did a brand-new work within my

  358. life and I'm so glad that he did I

  359. don't regret none of it but God has to do

  360. that work within us because the truth is

  361. it does not matter how much makeup you

  362. put on and men can tell you this it

  363. doesn't matter how beautiful a woman can

  364. be she'd be the best-looking woman in

  365. the world and if she is hateful and

  366. wretched on the inside it means

  367. absolutely nothing it's terrible and

  368. for us as believers it's so important for

  369. us not to just worry about washing the

  370. outside all the time making sure we're

  371. putting on this show and we're looking

  372. good for everybody else it's so much

  373. more important for God to do the work on

  374. the inside because what's on the inside

  375. is eventually going to come out and

  376. it doesn't matter how much makeup or

  377. lipstick we put on people will see us

  378. for who we truly are the old has to be

  379. removed and what shouldn't be there

  380. what doesn't belong should be taken out

  381. and we should welcome that as believers

  382. there should be a desire in our lives to

  383. regularly say God if there's anything

  384. within me take it out take it out

  385. remove it because I want to be yours

  386. point number three last one you get a

  387. new heart and a new spirit you know all

  388. this is just an analogy from a medical

  389. perspective but it's a great analogy

  390. and obviously the heart is the life of

  391. the physical body and this is why it's

  392. used as the analogy from scripture that

  393. we read but it's exactly why God

  394. couples it with his spirit because we

  395. need to have God in us you know we

  396. neglect a lot of times we like to keep

  397. God separate and and have him in we

  398. want him to make us feel good and to

  399. cleanse us but at the same time we

  400. want to clean the things of the world

  401. and we want to have these separate

  402. aspects of things and we we don't

  403. necessarily want to take God into this

  404. relationship or got into this

  405. friendship or God to the workplace

  406. because we want to keep it separate

  407. but the truth is is that we absolutely

  408. 100 percent need God in us we need him

  409. to dwell in us so receiving the new

  410. heart is also receiving the new spirit

  411. is receiving the spirit of God in our

  412. lives in the second Corinthians chapter

    2 Corinthians 3:16–18

  413. 3 verses 16 through 18 Paul is explaining

  414. this new covenant of Jesus Christ to the

  415. Corinthian Church and he says but

  416. whenever someone turns to the Lord the

  417. veil is taken away and he's still using

  418. this analogy of of the temple and the

  419. how much you know about it but the

  420. veil was so thick that it would not

  421. allow any light to permeate through it

  422. that it would keep it completely dark

  423. and the only person who was allowed to

  424. go back into the Holy of Holies was

  425. the high priest once a year to minister

  426. before the Lord and so there was a

  427. separation and so Paul is talking about

  428. this idea whenever you turn to the Lord

  429. and you receive Jesus the veil is

  430. taken away you're opened up to the very

  431. presence of God the God Spirit now is

  432. accessible all the time for the Lord is

  433. the spirit and wherever the spirit of

  434. the Lord is there's freedom I don't know

  435. how many people you've ever talked to

  436. who've received a heart transplant but

  437. they'll tell you the things the

  438. condition of their body was so severe

  439. beforehand that they were very limited

  440. on what they could do it was almost like

  441. being imprisoned and whenever they

  442. receive that new heart and they receive

  443. that transplant and time whenever they

  444. get healthier and they build their

  445. shrink back up they'll tell you it

  446. feels like they've been set free like

  447. they can live they can do stuff again

  448. that they couldn't do before and when

  449. we receive the Lord into our life and

  450. we receive that new spirit of God

  451. there's freedom in that and so so many

  452. people look back and they look at

  453. this thought process of if I accept the

  454. Lord in my life and I allow him in and

  455. he he does gut me he takes out all these

  456. things that shouldn't be there and I

  457. know there's a lot of things that

  458. shouldn't be there like I'm gonna feel

  459. held captive like am I really going to

  460. enjoy being a Christian I gonna enjoy

  461. hanging out Christian people am I going

  462. to enjoy not being able to do all the

  463. things that I enjoy doing right now

  464. what's gonna happen and the truth is

  465. is where the Spirit of Lord is there's

  466. freedom you're not going to be held

  467. captive you think God holds you captive

  468. and the truth is is if you're just

  469. walking around and you're wearing make

  470. up and lipstick and trying to look the

  471. part you feel held captive there's a lot

  472. of people are just trying to look like

  473. a Christian and that's captivity it's

  474. just trying to play the part and try

  475. and trying to do it on your own

  476. strength that's captivity that's not

  477. the place you want to be and if

  478. you're doing that and you're just

  479. pretending stop that that would be a

  480. miserable place to be don't do that

  481. because it's not working and you can feel

  482. in your heart it's not working but to

  483. receive the Spirit of God in your life

  484. and receive that in your heart there's

  485. freedom in that and verse 18 says so

  486. all of us who have had that veil

  487. removed can see and reflect the glory

  488. of the Lord because what happens is is

  489. you don't need the makeup you don't

  490. need the stuff on the outside to make

  491. you look good you don't have to put

  492. on a show but when the Spirit of God

  493. comes in your life and you receive

  494. that you begin to reflect the glory of

  495. God to the people around you and

  496. that's why you as a person have

  497. witnessed a true Christian before

  498. and you've been able to look at them

  499. and say there's something different

  500. about them I don't know what it is

  501. but there's something different about

  502. them that I'm drawn to because they

  503. are reflecting the very glory of

  504. God and you and I were wired in our

  505. creation to be drawn to the very

  506. glory of God but it's also what

  507. we're called to display and it says

  508. who is the Spirit makes us more and

  509. more like him as we are changed

  510. into his glorious image and if we

  511. are believing in Christ for living

  512. in him and we are filled with his

  513. spirit we won't have to change he

  514. will change us we will become more

  515. and more like him we will be

  516. conformed into his glorious image

  517. and we will reflect his glory to

  518. the people around us it's not

  519. something that we will have to

  520. try to do it will be within us

  521. and therefore it will come out of

  522. us and so if you're sitting here

  523. this morning you feel like I'm

  524. exhausted I'm exhausted trying to

  525. be a Christian I'm exhausted

  526. trying to live for the Lord I'm

  527. exhausted trying to do the right

  528. thing I'm exhausted trying to

  529. keep from sinning it's because

  530. you're doing it on your own and

  531. you're not doing it from the

  532. Spirit that is within you and the

  533. desire for the Holy Spirit to

  534. come into your life and for God

  535. to give you a new heart and a new

  536. spirit so that it will naturally

  537. come out of you will save you

  538. and give you freedom like you've

  539. never experienced before in your

  540. life that's the difference

  541. maker you know going back to

  542. that story about Moses bringing

  543. Aaron and his sons in and

  544. Leviticus eight it's really odd

  545. I mean to think about it to take

  546. them in the doorways and to

  547. wash them in front of everyone

  548. and after they wash them clean

  549. Moses had already taken a ram and

  550. he had sacrificed and he had

  551. saved the blood from it in a

  552. bowl and he would dip the blood

  553. out and he would put some blood

  554. on the right earlobe and he

  555. had put some blood on the right

  556. thumb he would put some blood

  557. on the right big toe of each of

  558. them who was going to be

  559. consecrated into the priesthood

  560. to serve the Lord it's really

  561. amazing how whenever God washes

  562. us clean he puts his spirit

  563. within us and he gives us this

  564. new heart and he gives us this

  565. calling in our life to follow

  566. him of what it is that he does

  567. and what he expects of us and to

  568. think that even in the

  569. priesthood in Leviticus eight of

  570. more than three thousand years

  571. ago God was showing the

  572. significance in that moment of

  573. how important it was for somebody

  574. who belongs to the Lord to be

  575. willing to listen and to take

  576. the thumb which separates us

  577. from every other animal and

  578. gives us the ability to work

  579. and do things that nothing no

  580. other creation can do of how it

  581. belongs to the Lord it should be

  582. done used to do his work and then

  583. our big toe which is so

  584. important and walking and moving

  585. and how important it is for us

  586. to go and do the things that

  587. God has called us to do.

  588. You know this idea of

  589. receiving this new heart is

  590. something that we should just

  591. be crying out for constantly

  592. to be cleansed from the inside

  593. to have the spirit within us and

  594. to be washed clean regularly.

  595. I don't know about you guys but

  596. when we give our kids baths a lot

  597. of times they don't like to

  598. participate or cooperate.

  599. Sometimes we have to hold them

  600. down and wash them.

  601. Now they like playing in the

  602. water but when it actually

  603. comes to bathing it's not

  604. something that they enjoy.

  605. And it's a frustrating time

  606. because we're all getting

  607. soaking wet and we don't

  608. necessarily like enjoy fighting

  609. with them but it needs to be

  610. done.

  611. And this morning spiritually

  612. speaking you have to ask

  613. yourself am I going to be a

  614. toddler who fights my heavenly

  615. father every time I need to be

  616. cleansed and give him a fit and

  617. resist this or am I willingly

  618. going to allow him to wash me

  619. and make me clean because I

  620. realize I need this.

  621. I have a desire to be clean and

  622. to be what I'm supposed to be

  623. so that he can use me and grow

  624. me and put his spirit within me

  625. and give me a new heart so

  626. that I can serve him not in

  627. bondage but in freedom because

  628. where the spirit of God is

  629. there is freedom.

  630. This is not something that we

  631. should look forward to and

  632. dread or fear but it's

  633. something that we should look

  634. forward to and say hey this

  635. is the best thing for me.

  636. And for anyone who's ever

  637. experienced it we need to be

  638. shouting at the top of our

  639. lungs do it.

  640. Give it to the Lord and don't

  641. wait because it's so much

  642. better if you will just do it

  643. and trust in him because the

  644. freedom I have is so much

  645. better than he's freedom I

  646. thought I ever had before

  647. because that wasn't freedom.

  648. This is what true freedom is.

  649. Let's pray.

  650. Thank you again for the

  651. opportunity to have your word

  652. and to be able to read and to

  653. be able to pray and seek your

  654. face and Lord I was just asked

  655. right now that you would speak

  656. to our hearts powerfully and

  657. if there's anyone in this room

  658. or anyone who's going to watch

  659. online or listen later who has

  660. been fighting you and

  661. resisting you Lord I pray that

  662. you would help them to have a

  663. desire in their heart to

  664. finally submit Lord move and

  665. work in their life in a

  666. powerful way and help them to

  667. humbly submit to your

  668. authority and your love and your

  669. mercy to give them a new heart

  670. to give them your spirit so

  671. that they can live for you in

  672. true freedom like they've never

  673. experienced before.

  674. Father we love you and thank

  675. you.

  676. We ask all this in Jesus name.

  677. Amen.
