  1. God, we come to you this morning and we come to praise the name of Jesus.

  2. We come to lift up your name, to bless your name.

  3. But God, we also know that so often we come into your presence, into your midst.

  4. We are blessed as well.

  5. God, that we receive a blessing.

  6. And God, I pray that over everyone in the congregation this morning.

  7. God, that we will all truly know that you are for us.

  8. God, that you desire to bless us.

  9. God, we can walk in your favor each and every day.

  10. God, we pray that for these graduating seniors,

  11. that you will be for them for a thousand generations,

  12. for them and their families and their children.

  13. We pray that for the youngest person in this room.

  14. We pray this for the oldest person in the room.

  15. Then all things, God, that we will just truly experience a blessing from you.

  16. And God, because of that, we will seek to share that blessing with others.

  17. God, I pray that we will never be a people that just wants to be blessed,

  18. just to be blessed.

  19. But God, that we will always seek to be blessed by you,

  20. so we can point other people to you.

  21. So, so Holy Spirit, just move in a powerful way this morning.

  22. God, especially as we do something different,

  23. we pray that you will speak clearly, not just to the seniors,

  24. but to each person who is here.

  25. Each person who's not here as well, God, the shut-ins we have in that church,

  26. people who are not well, people who are in the hospital,

  27. people who are at home or on vacation, watching right now.

  28. God, we pray that you will bless them as well.

  29. God, help them to know how near you are, how close you are,

  30. and how full of love and compassion you are

  31. for each and every person here listening this morning.

  32. And so, God, we give you the service,

  33. and we ask that we can just build up the name of Jesus

  34. through all that we do.

  35. In your name, amen.

  36. You may be seated.

  37. Good morning.

  38. So, this year is always one of my favorite Sundays throughout the year

  39. as we get to really encourage, pray over, and send off graduating seniors,

  40. which there's a lot of them.

  41. There's a lot of them this year.

  42. I think about, I'm going to try to make it through this whole service without crying.

  43. I practiced my notes this morning for the last time.

  44. I almost made it without crying just in my notes.

  45. So, looking you all in the eyes, it's going to be a little tricky and hard,

  46. but I'm going to try to do it.

  47. There's a lot of them, and even if there weren't a lot of them,

  48. even if they were a small group, they would still be a mighty group.

  49. This is a group that I've been with, I've known for years and years

  50. since some of them were in fifth grade,

  51. and it's just been a joy to see who they are

  52. and the young people that they've become.

  53. And so, I'm super grateful for that.

  54. I just remember, I was just thinking right there,

  55. as we were singing this song probably five years ago at camp,

  56. we had probably about half of you were at camp that year,

  57. and our team was a little smaller that year,

  58. and the camp director called me.

  59. It's like, your team's going to be a little small.

  60. Is that okay?

  61. It's like, they might be small, but they're mighty,

  62. and I still feel that today.

  63. And we won because that's what we do.

  64. And so, what we're going to do this morning is,

  65. I'm going to bring them up one at a time.

  66. I'm going to tell them, sorry, I need to grab this microphone,

  67. ask them their name.

  68. Well, I know their names, but they can tell you their names,

  69. tell you where they're graduating from,

  70. and what's going on next in life.

  71. And then after that, I'll say nice things about all of them.

  72. Some of you, it's very easy to think of nice things to say.

  73. Sometimes I really had to rack my brain about.

  74. Just kidding.

  75. It was easy for all of you.

  76. And then I'm going to give them a gift,

  77. a card, and a verse that I think goes along with you.

  78. So, sound good?

  79. And so, for you all, you all get to listen in,

  80. and think about, everyone here is going to have a verse.

  81. The verse will be on the screen.

  82. This is a way that I feel like the Lord has put on my heart

  83. for them going forward, who they are,

  84. slash who they're becoming.

  85. And so, you can pray these verses along with me in the future

  86. as they go off to college, military, work, whatever it is.

  87. And so, we can, and at the end, after we have everyone,

  88. I'm going to bring all 13 of them back up,

  89. and then we're going to pray over them.

  90. Because I see this and view this as an opportunity

  91. to launch them out into the next stages of their life,

  92. as the young men and young women

  93. that God called them to be.

  94. Because the truth of the matter is,

  95. there probably won't be another time on this earth

  96. that all 13 of you all will be in the same place

  97. at the same time.

  98. And so, we want to make sure we pray over you

  99. for this special occasion.

  100. All right, everyone good?

  101. You all good?

  102. All right, we're going to start it off with Molly.

  103. So, come on up.

  104. If you could tell us your name,

  105. where you're graduating from, and what's next in life.

  106. My name is Molly.

  107. I just graduated from Sparberg High School.

  108. This fall, I'll be going to Sparberg Community College

  109. to begin my journey in veterinary medicine.

  110. All right, Molly.

  111. So, Molly, you are one of the longstanding Graham Chapel youth.

  112. Again, you've been here from, I mean,

  113. since you were a child.

  114. And you're one of the ones, one of the, I think,

  115. four people who are here that I saw as fifth graders

  116. come into the youth group for the first time.

  117. So, your grade is unique in that,

  118. that your entire youth group experience,

  119. you've only known me as youth pastor.

  120. Sorry, it's what you're stuck with.

  121. And so, you're one of the ones,

  122. the few people that knew me before I hit my 30s.

  123. And increasingly, you'll be part of the group,

  124. one of the few people that knew me before I was bald.

  125. But it's been so cool to see you grow

  126. from that fifth grader to high school graduate.

  127. And what's cool about you, Molly,

  128. is that even when you entered into the youth group,

  129. like, you were already responsible.

  130. Like, you were already wise beyond your years.

  131. And it's been cool to see that you've gone from that.

  132. And you didn't like plateau and peak in sixth grade,

  133. but you continue to grow and become

  134. the amazing, wonderful young woman

  135. that the Lord has made you into.

  136. And so, it's been odd for me that for you

  137. and some of these other ones I've known the most,

  138. so it's actually hardest to get a gift for you.

  139. But I got something for you.

  140. And so, for you, well, here's a card for you.

  141. And for you, I went back to just one of your

  142. long-standing gifts and abilities and talents

  143. of what I got for you.

  144. So, if you didn't know, Molly is a very talented artist.

  145. I have a box of stuff, because normally,

  146. I have a bag, but there's too many of them.

  147. And so, for you, Molly, I got a bunch of paint pens.

  148. The reason why, one, you're a very talented artist.

  149. And two, when I was in college,

  150. as someone who has no, I have some athletic abilities,

  151. no artistic abilities, I needed paint pens all the time.

  152. And so, I'm just trying to bless you,

  153. get you ahead of that, and so you can do that.

  154. And again, one of the reasons I got that

  155. is because you are someone who adds

  156. to the beauty of the world.

  157. Like, you look to seek to add to that

  158. through your artistic abilities,

  159. through caring for animals, and all kinds of ways.

  160. And so, hopefully, you can use those paint pens

  161. to continue to add beauty to the world that God put us in.

  162. The verse I have for you is Daniel chapter 12, verse 3.

    Daniel 12:3

  163. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness

  164. of the heavens and those who lead many to righteousness,

  165. like the stars, forever and ever.

  166. And I feel your wisdom beyond your years,

  167. your righteousness that you have,

  168. that God uses that in you to be this bright light

  169. that we see from heaven or like the stars,

  170. and that we live in a dark world,

  171. but we get glimpses of God's goodness through people.

  172. And you're one of those people who lives that out,

  173. and I think people are going to get to see

  174. God's light and love through you in so many ways.

  175. So, thank you.

  176. Here, I'm going to give it for Molly.

  177. All right, next up, we've got Ava.

  178. So, Ava, if you could tell us your name,

  179. where you're graduating from,

  180. and what's next in life.

  181. Hello, my name's Ava Hill.

  182. I'm graduating from Chesney High School,

  183. and next year I'm going to Spartanburg Community College

  184. to study education.

  185. All right.

  186. Thank you, Ava.

  187. I know it's hard to share in front of people.

  188. Ava, I'm grateful for the young lady

  189. that God has made you into,

  190. and God's used you in some great ways,

  191. ways that maybe you know,

  192. and maybe ways that you don't know.

  193. I think about from a church perspective,

  194. Pastor James and I and Pastor Haley

  195. get to see more of the inner works of the church

  196. more than anyone else,

  197. and we notice things more than other people.

  198. A handful of years ago,

  199. I don't remember how many years at this point,

  200. but you expressed an interest in getting baptized.

  201. And so, we baptized you here,

  202. and that was in the post-COVID world

  203. where God was doing some good things,

  204. but the church wasn't growing,

  205. it wasn't shrinking.

  206. But after that point,

  207. when you first expressed that interest

  208. in getting baptized,

  209. as a church, we've probably baptized 40 to 50 people.

  210. And so, just something happened

  211. once you had your willingness to say yes to God

  212. and to make that profession of faith through baptism.

  213. And so, I say thank you from a church perspective

  214. on how God used that in other people's lives

  215. to inspire them to take those steps of get baptized

  216. and to grow in their faith.

  217. And so, thank you.

  218. So, I have a gift and verse and a card.

  219. So, for you, I'll share your verse first.

  220. It's Matthew 5, 14 to 16.

  221. You are the light of the world.

  222. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

  223. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.

  224. Instead, they put it on a stand

  225. and it gives light to everyone in the house.

  226. In the same way, let your light shine before others

  227. that they may see your good deeds

  228. and glorify your Father in heaven.

  229. God's made you a beautiful part of his creation

  230. and I think he wants to use you

  231. to bring love and light into this world.

  232. And so, I think just that's a verse that comes to mind

  233. that I think of you and what you do.

  234. So, for you, your gift.

  235. Some of these gifts are serious.

  236. Some of them are a little bit gag gifts.

  237. You get a gag gift, Ava.

  238. I got you some light bulbs.

  239. So, I don't know if you even remember,

  240. but a handful of years ago,

  241. light bulbs were a little bit of an inside joke

  242. between you and me, Christine and Lindsay.

  243. Also, but they represent the verse

  244. that we're talking about.

  245. Because in the Bible, Jesus says,

  246. in the Gospel of John,

  247. Jesus says he is the light of the world

  248. and here in Matthew,

  249. he says you are the light of the world.

  250. Jesus is the true light.

  251. Those light bulbs are not shining in that box right now.

  252. What does it take for them to light up?

  253. We have to plug them in, right?

  254. And so, the same thing is true with us

  255. in our walk with Christ,

  256. that we are going to shine.

  257. The only way we're truly going to shine

  258. is when we're connected to the source,

  259. when we're connected to Jesus.

  260. And so, Jesus wants to shine through you.

  261. Jesus has the ability to shine through you.

  262. All you have to do is stay connected to him

  263. and you're going to be a light

  264. that other people can see and need in our world today.

  265. So, everyone give it for Ava.

  266. All right, next up, we've got Brian.

  267. Come on up, Brian.

  268. So, Brian, tell us your name,

  269. where you're graduating from,

  270. and what's next in life?

  271. My name is Brian Preller.

  272. I'm a graduate from Chesney High School

  273. and next I'm going to go to Asheville Tech

  274. to pursue fly school.

  275. That's cool.

  276. So, Brian, I, as a youth pastor,

  277. love all of these.

  278. I appreciate you because,

  279. at least from my perspective,

  280. you're not a dramatic drama person.

  281. Like, any time you come on a Sunday or a Wednesday,

  282. I know I can go talk to Brian

  283. and it's not going to like drain my battery

  284. to be around you, right?

  285. I don't have to like put on my work mind.

  286. It's like I can just hang out and talk to Brian.

  287. It's going to be fun.

  288. It's going to be chill,

  289. especially if we get to make fun of Kevin's golf shots.

  290. Then it's like really good.

  291. But I always enjoy that.

  292. So, I have a goal for you, actually,

  293. and as you're becoming a pilot.

  294. So, I was talking to my three-year-old Daniel

  295. the other day

  296. and I was talking about trains

  297. and he was like,

  298. can we go ride a train?

  299. I was like, sure, let's go ride a train.

  300. And then he was like,

  301. can we go on a plane?

  302. And I was like,

  303. that's a little more of a steep task

  304. to go on a plane than a train.

  305. But I was like,

  306. you know what,

  307. maybe Brian can continue

  308. to become this pilot to fly

  309. and get to the point

  310. where you are good enough.

  311. Not, I would trust my life with you right now.

  312. You've flown plane times before,

  313. but it's a different thing to trust

  314. my three-year-old and two-year-old in your life.

  315. So, go, become a pilot,

  316. and then maybe one day,

  317. me and Daniel and Asher

  318. can come ride with you

  319. and you can be the first pilot

  320. that they'll override.

  321. I'll trust you with that, right?

  322. And that's high praise,

  323. especially with my wife sitting there,

  324. agreeing to take a three-year-old

  325. and two-year-old in a plane.

  326. So, because I believe in you

  327. as a person and as a pilot,

  328. I actually bought you a plane.

  329. The problem is it's a Lego plane.

  330. So, I asked Pastor James

  331. and he said the church

  332. couldn't quite afford to give you

  333. like hundreds of thousand dollars

  334. in a plane.

  335. So, for now,

  336. we're going to trust you

  337. with that Lego plane

  338. until we can get you

  339. something different.

  340. The verse that I have for you,

  341. Brian, is Isaiah 40-30-31.

  342. Even youth grow tired and weary

  343. and young men stumble and fall,

  344. but those who hope in the Lord

  345. will renew their strength.

  346. They will soar on wings like eagle.

  347. They will run and not grow weary.

  348. They will walk and not be faint.

  349. And so, the older you get,

  350. the more tired you get,

  351. but the truth is

  352. God wants to renew your strength,

  353. both in the physical,

  354. but also in the spiritual.

  355. That there are days

  356. when you're going to be spiritually weary,

  357. spiritually tired,

  358. spiritually want to throw in the towel,

  359. whatever it is,

  360. but seek the Lord

  361. and He will renew your strength,

  362. not just so you can make it by,

  363. but so you can soar.

  364. And so, you've been made to soar

  365. as a career,

  366. and God wants you to soar

  367. spiritually as well.

  368. So, everyone give it up for Brian.

  369. Next up is Carson.

  370. Gotta look through my bag.

  371. So, Carson,

  372. it's been great getting to know you

  373. a little bit over this past year,

  374. especially through the baseball team,

  375. and God's been doing a lot

  376. of really cool things

  377. on the Chesney baseball team this year.

  378. And I think you're a part of that.

  379. Like, some of the decisions you're making

  380. towards the beginning of the year

  381. to seek Christ

  382. and to put Christ first,

  383. obviously made a difference in your life,

  384. but I think has made a difference

  385. in other people's lives.

  386. And so, it's been cool to see.

  387. I also appreciate the grit that you have.

  388. So, towards the beginning of the season,

  389. you sprained your ankle,

  390. and I thought you would,

  391. I assumed you kind of missed some games

  392. because of that.

  393. And then I remember talking to you

  394. and saying,

  395. ah, we just taped it up

  396. and played through it.

  397. And that's my kind of person.

  398. Like, too many times in life

  399. we're trying to,

  400. oh well, let me just get healthy.

  401. Let me do this.

  402. But sometimes we just got to tough it out.

  403. And so, I appreciate you being a person

  404. who's just going to tough it out

  405. for yourself,

  406. but also for your team.

  407. A verse that I have for you

  408. is Deuteronomy 10-20.

  409. Fear the Lord your God

  410. and serve him.

  411. Hold fast to him

  412. and take your oaths in his name.

  413. And really hold fast to him

  414. is that part that I want to remember.

  415. Because you're going to go

  416. through difficult times in your life.

  417. You've already been through difficult times.

  418. You'll go through more as you get older.

  419. Hold tight to the Lord

  420. in the midst of that.

  421. Hold fast to him.

  422. Cling to him in the midst

  423. of all the difficulties you go through

  424. because he is for you.

  425. He wants to bless you.

  426. And so, for you,

  427. you get another gag gift as well.

  428. So, I'm going to have to explain this.

  429. That's how bad of a gift it is.

  430. If you have to explain a gift,

  431. it's not a very good gift, right?

  432. But I have a gift

  433. I'm going to explain to you.

  434. I got you a bunch

  435. of giant paper clips.

  436. But there's a meaning behind paper clips.

  437. It actually started

  438. with a friend of mine,

  439. a really good friend of mine,

  440. that to him,

  441. the Lord ended up using paper clips

  442. as an illustration to him.

  443. That every time he saw a paper clip,

  444. it was a reminder of who God was,

  445. who God is.

  446. And the reason it became that is,

  447. my friend was going through

  448. a really difficult time in life

  449. where he was trying to turn out,

  450. do I want to stay committed to my faith?

  451. Do I not?

  452. Just life was not good.

  453. And in the midst of all of that,

  454. he looked down

  455. and I don't remember

  456. where he was in this story,

  457. but it was a really random place

  458. and there was just a paper clip

  459. on the floor.

  460. And to him,

  461. it was a visualization

  462. that God is going to hold things together

  463. because that's what paper clips do.

  464. And to me,

  465. that stuck with me.

  466. That's probably 15 years ago

  467. that he told me that.

  468. And so now paper clips

  469. have become a symbol

  470. of the fact that

  471. God's going to hold it together.

  472. Even when the world

  473. seems to be crumbling,

  474. everything's falling apart.

  475. God's still going to

  476. hold it together for you.

  477. So be on the lookout

  478. for not just giant paper clips,

  479. but all paper clips.

  480. Because again,

  481. even a couple months ago,

  482. there was something difficult

  483. going on in life

  484. and I looked down

  485. in what was at the floor

  486. in a really random place.

  487. A paper clip,

  488. as a reminder,

  489. that even though everything else

  490. is falling apart,

  491. God's still going to hold it together.

  492. So here we go for Carson.

  493. Alright, up next we got Eli.

  494. Come on up, Eli.

  495. My name is Elijah.

  496. I'm graduating from Chesney

  497. and I'm going to attend

  498. Commerce to play basketball.

  499. So if you know Eli,

  500. you know he's pretty good at basketball.

  501. It's been such a joy

  502. to get to know you

  503. over these past couple years.

  504. And you know,

  505. when you get older,

  506. I'm still a very competitive person,

  507. but like I get much more joy

  508. and other people being really good,

  509. especially young people like you.

  510. Because I mean,

  511. the truth of the matter is,

  512. even though I'm old and bald,

  513. like still in the basketball court,

  514. I could still humble

  515. all the other youth.

  516. And then you show up

  517. in the pecking order totally changed.

  518. I could no longer hold my own against you.

  519. I think I think about last year,

  520. the most embarrassed I ever

  521. got in a basketball court

  522. was at camp last summer.

  523. You're just like not even trying

  524. and I'm giving my all.

  525. And again, I'm 30 something years old

  526. and like washed

  527. and I was never as good as you anyway,

  528. but I was giving everything

  529. and you hit seven straight three pointers.

  530. Like I wasn't even there.

  531. Like I seven three pointers in a row

  532. regardless is impressive.

  533. But then with me like

  534. hand in your face did not matter.

  535. But it was still like

  536. you're such a likable person

  537. that there was never a moment

  538. in that that I was angry.

  539. Like you're one of the few people

  540. that I feel like you're really chill

  541. and got this great personality,

  542. but it's also super competitive.

  543. And I really appreciate that about you

  544. because I'm competitive

  545. and I would like to think

  546. that I'm fairly relaxed chill person.

  547. So for you, your verse

  548. and your gift go hand in hand.

  549. Let me read your verse first actually

  550. because it'll make more sense.

  551. Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10

    Ephesians 2:10

  552. for we are God's handiwork

  553. created in Christ Jesus to do good works,

  554. which God prepared in advance for us to do.

  555. So Eli, when God looks at you,

  556. he sees you as his handiwork.

  557. Like you are another translation

  558. calls it masterpiece.

  559. You are a masterpiece of his creation

  560. and not just your athletic ability,

  561. but you as a person

  562. who you are on the inside

  563. is a masterpiece by God's creation.

  564. He loves you deeply

  565. and he made you very well.

  566. He also has good work for you to do.

  567. Like there are good things

  568. that he wants you to do

  569. yes on the basketball court,

  570. but even more so in life

  571. and how you treat people,

  572. how you love people,

  573. your family, your friends,

  574. and ultimately how you can point them

  575. to the good God that you know.

  576. And so for you,

  577. because you're God's handiwork

  578. and because God has good things

  579. for you to do,

  580. I got you some tools to work with.

  581. Got you a hammer

  582. and I want one of these myself.

  583. It's a little like handheld socket wrench set

  584. and so it's a physical thing.

  585. Go work on stuff.

  586. Go fix stuff.

  587. But the spiritual meaning behind it

  588. is there's going to be difficulties

  589. not just in your life,

  590. but in other people's lives

  591. and you get to come in

  592. and you get to help

  593. do some of the work to repair people

  594. to help them know that they are loved,

  595. that they are valuable,

  596. and that God has good things for them.

  597. And so God's got lots

  598. of really good plans for you

  599. on and off the basketball court

  600. and I look forward to seeing

  601. all those things.

  602. Alright, next up we've got Kai.

  603. Alright Kai,

  604. tell everyone your name,

  605. where you're graduating from

  606. and what's next?

  607. My name is Kai Copeland.

  608. I'm graduating from Chesapeake High School

  609. and I'll also be attending

  610. Converse for track.

  611. So Kai, the first time you showed up

  612. on a Tuesday night

  613. to play basketball here,

  614. I don't know, four years ago,

  615. something like that.

  616. I knew I was going to like you right away.

  617. I wish I remembered

  618. what shoes you wore that day,

  619. but it was a bold shoe choice

  620. and I really liked your shoes.

  621. I also noticed you're a good shooter,

  622. but people seem to think

  623. you weren't a good shooter

  624. and you played with a chip

  625. on your shoulder.

  626. So as someone who likes to play basketball,

  627. someone who likes to be

  628. a point guard in basketball,

  629. like I'm going to look for people

  630. who have a chip on their shoulder

  631. and can shoot and that's you.

  632. And so I like playing a lot

  633. when you're on my team.

  634. Now, I didn't know then

  635. why you had so much

  636. of a chip on your shoulder.

  637. And if you know anything

  638. about Kai's testimony,

  639. there's a lot that's gone on

  640. in his life.

  641. And so I wish I knew then

  642. how I could have been there

  643. more for you

  644. and encourage you in those early days

  645. instead of just enjoying

  646. playing basketball with you.

  647. But in your life,

  648. it's been so wonderful

  649. to see the transformation

  650. that God has worked in your life,

  651. who he brought you from then

  652. to who you are today.

  653. It's just a wonderful thing

  654. to see and witness

  655. and to be a part of

  656. and so I'm so grateful for that.

  657. And so verse I have for you

  658. is Romans 8 35 to 37,

  659. which I think Tony

  660. also has a card from you

  661. and he also has a verse from Romans.

  662. So something about Romans 8 for you.

  663. Go home and read the whole chapter.

  664. I think God's trying to speak to you

  665. through Romans chapter 8,

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  666. but the verse for you

  667. that I want to share with you.

  668. Who shall separate us

  669. from the love of God

  670. shall trouble or hardship

  671. or persecution or famine

  672. or nakedness or danger or sword

  673. as it is written for your sake.

  674. We face death all day long.

  675. We are considered as sheep

  676. to be slaughtered.

  677. No, in all these things,

  678. we are more than conquerors

  679. through him who loved us.

  680. And so I think the beginning

  681. of the end of those verses

  682. really stands out to me.

  683. Who shall separate us

  684. from the love of God?

  685. You've been through

  686. some really hard things

  687. where people have

  688. tried to divide you from people,

  689. from God, from everything.

  690. But nothing can separate you

  691. from the love of God.

  692. Jesus loves you so deeply

  693. and so fully,

  694. no matter what people have done,

  695. no matter what people are going to do.

  696. God loves you so much

  697. and gave himself for you.

  698. And through all of the things

  699. that you've been through,

  700. no, in all of these things,

  701. you are more than a conqueror

  702. through him who loved you.

  703. You've already overcome

  704. more adversity than most people

  705. will ever face in their life.

  706. And I hope that you don't have

  707. quite as many of those battles

  708. to fight going forward,

  709. but you're still going to have

  710. challenges to face

  711. and God's going to allow you

  712. to be a conqueror

  713. and overcome all of those

  714. challenges as well.

  715. So for you Kai,

  716. I got you this nice

  717. transformer toy, right?

  718. So to represent who you were

  719. and who you are,

  720. and I was going to get you Bumblebee

  721. because Bumblebee is cooler

  722. than Optimus Prime,

  723. but ultimately I felt like

  724. giving you Optimus Prime

  725. because Optimus Prime is the leader.

  726. And I think you show

  727. a lot of leadership qualities.

  728. I've seen you look out

  729. for people on football team,

  730. track team who are either

  731. left to their own

  732. or didn't know

  733. what they were doing.

  734. And so you've taken people

  735. under your wing to encourage them,

  736. build them up and point them

  737. in the right direction.

  738. And God's going to continue

  739. to use that in your life

  740. to build people up,

  741. not to tear people down.

  742. You're going to conquer

  743. tons of situations in life,

  744. but you're not going to be

  745. someone who conquers people.

  746. You're going to be

  747. a builder up of people.

  748. And so super excited for all

  749. that God's done in your life

  750. and can't wait to see

  751. what he does next.

  752. All right, up next is Kevin.

  753. Tell us your name.

  754. Where are you graduating from?

  755. And what's next?

  756. I'm Kevin.

  757. I'm graduating

  758. from Chesney High School

  759. and my plans are to attend

  760. an SMC to play baseball.

  761. So it's been great

  762. getting to know you

  763. in the past, I don't know,

  764. year and a half,

  765. probably not even two years yet.

  766. But I feel like I've known

  767. you a long time.

  768. I don't know why you seem like

  769. if we had a time machine

  770. and either I went for in time

  771. or you went back in time,

  772. you would have fit in

  773. with me and my group of friends.

  774. You're pretty smart.

  775. You're pretty athletic.

  776. Sometimes you do some dumb stuff

  777. and it's great.

  778. It's a lot of fun.

  779. Say a lot of fun to be around.

  780. So you've always felt

  781. like a brother to me

  782. in a lot of ways.

  783. And again, talking about

  784. the cool things

  785. that God has done

  786. in the baseball team,

  787. you've been a huge part

  788. of that this year

  789. and you've been a huge part

  790. of what's been going on

  791. in our church, truthfully.

  792. You went from not ever

  793. having come here

  794. like a year and a half ago

  795. to now you were more invested

  796. in having more of an impact

  797. in this church than most people.

  798. And that's a good thing.

  799. And so it's cool

  800. God can use you

  801. in such a short amount of time

  802. to be a part of the church

  803. and to impact the church.

  804. So thank you for doing that.

  805. For you, I'll read your verse first.

  806. Ephesians chapter 4, 22 to 24.

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  807. You were taught with regard

  808. to your former way of life

  809. to put off your old self,

  810. which is being corrupted

  811. by its deceitful desires

  812. to be made new

  813. in the attitude of your minds

  814. and to put on the new self

  815. created to be like God

  816. in true righteousness and holiness.

  817. So that verse talks about

  818. putting off the former way of life

  819. and putting on the new self

  820. that God has created you to be.

  821. The new person that God

  822. has formed you into

  823. and is making you

  824. is this amazing great person.

  825. And the last part of that verse

  826. says to put on the new self

  827. created to be like God

  828. in righteousness and holiness.

  829. I truly think that God

  830. wants to do a great thing in you

  831. not just to be one of like

  832. we should all strive

  833. to be righteous and holy.

  834. But I think God's going to do

  835. do that in your life

  836. in a way that some people

  837. it gets off putting

  838. when like, oh, I don't do that.

  839. I don't say that.

  840. But in a way that people

  841. see the goodness

  842. that God has for us,

  843. like the good things

  844. that God is doing for you

  845. and in you that other people

  846. are not going to look at

  847. like, oh, I don't want

  848. to be like that,

  849. but instead be like

  850. he's got something I'm missing.

  851. How can I have that too?

  852. And God wants to do that

  853. in your life

  854. to strip away the old

  855. and to bring in the new.

  856. So for you, I have

  857. a bunch of golf balls.

  858. So these are actually

  859. recycled golf balls.

  860. They've already been used.

  861. So they have a purpose.

  862. There's a reason I got you those.

  863. Again, in life,

  864. people have all those golf balls

  865. at one point in time

  866. were lost, forgotten,

  867. considered not important

  868. or valuable.

  869. But for golfers like you and I,

  870. we need every golf ball

  871. we can get the more of the merrier.

  872. And so you, though,

  873. the spiritual lesson behind it

  874. is God doesn't cast anyone off,

  875. right?

  876. No one is not valuable.

  877. No one is too far gone.

  878. God's going to find everyone

  879. and bring them back.

  880. And I think he can use you

  881. to do that,

  882. that you can help

  883. communicate to people.

  884. It's like, hey,

  885. you're not too far gone.

  886. Like you are still valuable.

  887. You are still important.

  888. And you can help them

  889. understood that they are

  890. truly loved by God

  891. and not people might cast them

  892. to the side.

  893. People might forget them,

  894. but God never has

  895. and he never will.

  896. And so you can just like

  897. those golf balls

  898. have been come back

  899. for new purpose.

  900. You can help people

  901. find and experience

  902. that truth too.

  903. All right, up next is Peyton.

  904. Come on up.

  905. Your name.

  906. Where you're graduating from

  907. and what's next in life?

  908. I'm Peyton.

  909. I'm graduating

  910. from Chesney High School

  911. and I'm enlisted

  912. in the Army National Guard

  913. and I'm going to USC upstate.

  914. So Peyton,

  915. there's actually a bunch of you

  916. this year that are graduating.

  917. My fellow Northerners

  918. come South.

  919. I at least now consider

  920. my a Southerner

  921. in South Carolinian.

  922. But I appreciate

  923. that you've walked

  924. that similar

  925. because it's not easy

  926. moving in high school

  927. two, three states away

  928. to have a totally different life.

  929. And I don't know.

  930. I consider myself a Southerner.

  931. I love the South hardcore Southerner

  932. at this point in life.

  933. But it's a little odd

  934. moving from the North here.

  935. It takes a while to get used

  936. to Southern culture

  937. and things like that.

  938. But I love that.

  939. I hope you do too.

  940. Found home here in South Carolina.

  941. But even more so,

  942. I hope that the impact

  943. that the church made

  944. in my life

  945. when I moved to South Carolina

  946. made a huge difference.

  947. I think about

  948. going to youth camp

  949. things like that

  950. that changed my life forever.

  951. Hopefully things like youth group

  952. and going to youth camp

  953. have changed your life as well.

  954. And that you always have

  955. a place here at home

  956. and all the wonderful things

  957. that God has for you in the future.

  958. So verse for you

  959. Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 6.

    Deuteronomy 31:6

  960. Be strong and courageous.

  961. Do not be afraid

  962. or terrified because of them.

  963. For the Lord your God

  964. goes with you.

  965. He will never leave you

  966. nor forsake you.

  967. Entering into the National Guard.

  968. You've got a lot in your future

  969. that's going to be hard,

  970. difficult, challenging,

  971. but rewarding.

  972. And so the reason

  973. that verse comes to mind

  974. is just not to be afraid

  975. in the midst of all

  976. that's going to come your way.

  977. Like it's natural to have fear

  978. but we can face it courageously

  979. through God's strength, right?

  980. Be strong, be courageous

  981. as you continue to get ready for it.

  982. It's going to take probably moments

  983. to continue to get ready

  984. for going to the National Guard

  985. to be strong and courageous

  986. to get ready for that.

  987. And then when you go

  988. it's definitely going to need that.

  989. And then the part

  990. that I really want to remind you with is

  991. for the Lord your God goes with you.

  992. You're going to have to leave

  993. basically everyone you know

  994. to go do a lot of this stuff.

  995. But you're not leaving the Lord behind.

  996. He is going with you, right?

  997. And so in all the difficulties,

  998. all the challenges,

  999. all the moments

1000. you're probably going to want to give up.

1001. Know that the Lord is with you.

1002. He is there for you,

  1003. providing for you

1004. and taking care of you

1005. in the midst of all that.

  1006. So your gift.

1007. I always really struggle to know

1008. it to get to people

  1009. going into the military

1010. because like you got to leave

  1011. like everything behind.

1012. So as I'm sure you're starting running,

  1013. working out,

1014. doing things like that to get ready.

1015. Make sure you take care of yourself, right?

  1016. Roll out your back

1017. because you're getting old now.

  1018. You're about to graduate.

  1019. Roll out your muscles.

1020. You got to take care of yourself

1021. because if you really want to grow

1022. in any realm of life,

1023. you have to stretch yourself

1024. and then you need to recover, right?

1025. And so things like that

  1026. can help you recover.

1027. So the same thing is going to be true

1028. in all challenges you face.

1029. Make sure you're not just go,

  1030. go, go, go, go,

1031. and never stop to heal

  1032. and to recover

  1033. and what's going on

1034. to strengthen yourself even more.

1035. And so spiritually the same is

  1036. pursue God.

  1037. Make sure you're good

1038. in the right place and that

1039. and then you can continue

1040. to grow and do all the things

1041. that God has for you.

1042. So everyone give it up for Peyton.

1043. All right, next up is Reuben.

  1044. Come on up.

1045. Name where you're graduating from

1046. and what's next in life.

1047. Hello, my name is Reuben Brooks.

1048. I'm graduating from Broome High School

1049. and I'm going to USC Upstate

  1050. for Industrial Engineering.

  1051. All right, Reuben.

  1052. Congrats on finishing third

1053. in your class at Broome.

  1054. That's quite the achievement.

  1055. I won't tell anyone

1056. that you secretly bombed a test

  1057. so you'd finish third

1058. instead of first or second

1059. so you wouldn't have to give

  1060. a speech at graduation.

1061. Your secret is safe with me.

1062. I will tell no one at all.

1063. No one will ever hear that.

  1064. I don't know

  1065. if that's actually true.

1066. But so you're another one

1067. like Brian that it's like

  1068. you make my job

1069. as a youth pastor very easy.

  1070. I never there's never

1071. going to be a stressful scenario

1072. going to have a conversation with you.

  1073. I always appreciate Sunday.

1074. When I see you walking up to me

  1075. it's always like,

1076. oh, this is going to be

  1077. a refreshing conversation

  1078. because I know

  1079. if all the youth

1080. that I've ever taught in front of

1081. spoken in front of whatever

1082. do I know that they have listened?

  1083. I don't know, but you

  1084. I do know you've listened.

1085. And so you've been very good

  1086. for my mental health

1087. and reminder that, you know,

1088. God does good things through me

  1089. and things like that

1090. because you know, I love

1091. when you come ask me questions

  1092. about apologetics

1093. or you've been talking about

  1094. the Bible reading plane

  1095. that you've been doing

  1096. where you're at.

  1097. It's always really encouraging

1098. for me to have youth come up

1099. and just without me like prying

1100. to know that God is doing

1101. good things in their life.

1102. And so just know that you've

  1103. encouraged me

1104. and built me up in my faith.

1105. Hopefully I've done the same to you,

1106. but you've at least made

1107. that difference in my life.

1108. So the verse that I have

1109. for you is Proverbs 25 to

1110. it is the glory of God

  1111. to conceal a matter

1112. to search out a matter

1113. is the glory of King.

1114. And so there's a lot of things

1115. in this world that we don't

  1116. always know and understand

1117. that there are a lot of things

1118. of God that have been hidden,

  1119. but it's a great thing

  1120. for us to go

  1121. and search them out

1122. and understand God's beautiful world.

1123. And you've got the mind

  1124. of a deep thinker.

  1125. You're really smart.

1126. You can go and understand

  1127. some of these things

  1128. that God has hidden.

1129. And I encourage you to do that

  1130. because there's a lot

  1131. of the intellectual world.

  1132. There's a lot of atheists,

  1133. new atheist movement,

  1134. things like that,

  1135. that you can,

1136. I think not just your brain,

  1137. but also the heart

1138. that you have for people.

1139. You can make a huge impact

  1140. in helping people know,

  1141. hey, it actually

  1142. is a rational thing

  1143. to believe in God.

  1144. There's actually

  1145. the most logical thing

1146. is that there is a higher power

  1147. that exists

1148. that created everything we see.

1149. And I think you can help people

  1150. understand that

1151. in a really good way.

  1152. The only problem

  1153. with this verse is

1154. it's the glory of God

  1155. to conceal a matter,

1156. to search out a matter

1157. is a glory of kings.

  1158. You're not a king.

  1159. So I guess that doesn't

  1160. apply to you,

1161. but we're going to fix that.

  1162. All right.

1163. So for you, I have a crown.

1164. We're going to crown you

  1165. King of Mayo.

  1166. So now you can

  1167. you can go

  1168. and search out

1169. the deep matters of the world

  1170. fulfilling this verse

  1171. from Proverbs.

1172. So we give it up for Reuben.

  1173. All right.

  1174. Up next is Summer.

  1175. Come on up.

  1176. All right.

1177. Summer, tell us your name,

  1178. where you're graduating from

1179. and what's next in life.

  1180. Hi, I'm Summer Sanders.

  1181. I'm graduating

  1182. from Gaffney High School

  1183. and I'm attending Clemson

  1184. in the fall

  1185. to study political science.

1186. So Summer, it's been really cool

1187. to have you be part

  1188. of the church

1189. for the last handful of months.

1190. And a lot of people

  1191. might not know you,

1192. not know that much about you.

  1193. You're going to Gaffney

  1194. and that's a lot

  1195. in and of itself

  1196. going to Gaffney.

  1197. That's Chesney people.

  1198. That's a big city there.

  1199. And so I think it's cool

1200. that you've gone to Gaffney.

  1201. You're a scholar-athlete.

1202. You've been part of JROTC,

  1203. tennis, all while working.

1204. And so you've managed to balance

1205. a lot of different realms of life,

  1206. all while making church

1207. a priority in your life.

1208. And so I really appreciate that

  1209. and that priority

1210. of keeping God at the center

1211. in the midst of all

  1212. the other good things

  1213. that you're doing.

1214. It's going to serve you

1215. very well in the future

  1216. going forward.

1217. And you did all those things

  1218. very well.

1219. Like you're in the Hall of Fame

  1220. at Gaffney for JROTC

  1221. and for tennis.

  1222. I don't think I've ever talked

1223. to Hall of Fame tennis

  1224. player before.

1225. So thanks for helping that

  1226. be the first time.

1227. And so the fact that you have

1228. all these talents and abilities

1229. while making Christ a priority

1230. that speaks well of you

1231. and you're going to Clemson.

  1232. So go Tigers.

  1233. Verse for you.

  1234. Ephesians five is two

  1235. of my favorite verses

  1236. in the whole Bible.

1237. Ephesians five one to two.

  1238. Follow God's example therefore

  1239. as dearly loved children

1240. and walk in the way of love

1241. just as Christ loved us

1242. and gave himself up for us

  1243. as a fragrant offering

  1244. and sacrifice to God.

1245. And so most of that verse

1246. those two verses talks about

1247. who we are in Christ

1248. that you are a dearly

  1249. loved daughter of God

1250. that he loves you so much.

1251. He's so proud of you.

1252. So excited for all the things

  1253. that you've done.

1254. And so he's really excited for that

1255. and that he loves you so much

1256. that he gave himself up for you.

1257. And so most of it talks about that.

1258. But then there's also the first part

1259. of the verse that really

  1260. has our simple calling

  1261. because sometimes in Christianity

  1262. we overcomplicate things

1263. at the end of the day.

1264. Christ has called us to follow him.

  1265. Right, follow his example.

1266. If you want to know

1267. what it looks like to be

  1268. a passionate Christian

1269. look at the life of Jesus

1270. and go do the same.

1271. And so because Jesus loves you

1272. he wants the best for you

1273. and he set the example.

1274. So just follow in his steps

1275. and all the things that you've got

  1276. going forward

1277. in the rest of your life.

1278. Just follow the example of Jesus

1279. and he's going to use you

1280. in a lot of really good ways.

1281. So for you I have a gift for you.

  1282. Oh there it is.

  1283. I got nervous for a second.

1284. As a Hall of Fame tennis player

1285. one day now that you're graduating

1286. you might get a little old

1287. and you're going to have to trade

  1288. in your tennis racket

  1289. for a pickleball racket.

1290. And so we're just trying

1291. to equip you for the future

  1292. that in 10, 15, 20, 50 years

1293. when your knees start hurting a little bit

1294. your back starts hurting more.

1295. We've got you ready to turn

  1296. in the tennis racket

  1297. for the pickleball racket.

  1298. Do you play pickleball?

  1299. You have.

1300. Because it's not as good as tennis,

  1301. right?

1302. It's the same thing but worse.

1303. But when you get older

1304. you're going to need that

1305. just giving you a warning.

1306. And so I want to make sure

1307. that you have a way

1308. to continue to have fun

  1309. and use your abilities

1310. going forward and all that.

  1311. So, all right.

1312. All right, up next is Zaden.

  1313. Name.

  1314. You got it.

  1315. You've heard it.

1316. My name is Zaden Hammond.

  1317. I will graduate

  1318. from Chesney High School

1319. and my plan is to attend SMC.

1320. So Zaden, I think it's pretty cool

  1321. that you've started coming

  1322. to Graham here recently

1323. because a long time ago

1324. you got baptized in here, didn't you?

1325. But sixth grade, I think,

  1326. release time school ministries

  1327. that we do.

1328. We had a baptism service

  1329. seven years ago,

  1330. probably now,

1331. six or seven years ago.

1332. And so you got baptized

  1333. at that service

1334. and it's been cool to see you

1335. just get reconnected here recently.

1336. So it's been cool to see.

1337. And a lot has changed since then.

1338. The sanctuary has been remodeled,

  1339. new carpet, new chairs.

  1340. You've been remodeled too.

1341. The first time I saw you

1342. after years of not seeing you

1343. went from like a little sixth grade boy

1344. to like the stud of a young man

  1345. that you are now.

  1346. And I've been remodeled

  1347. in a negative way.

1348. I used to have some hair

  1349. now I'm bald.

1350. And so a lot has changed

  1351. since those years

  1352. you got baptized here.

1353. But it's cool to see how you've grown

1354. in the Lord and how you've grown

1355. up as a young man.

  1356. So verse for you.

1357. Then I got a gift for you.

  1358. Ephesians 6, 10 to 12.

1359. Finally, be strong in the Lord

1360. and in his mighty power.

1361. Put on the full armor of God

1362. so that you can take your stand

  1363. against the devil's schemes.

  1364. For our struggle

1365. is not against flesh and blood,

  1366. but against the rulers,

  1367. against authorities,

  1368. against the powers

  1369. of this dark world

1370. and against the spiritual forces

1371. of evil in the heavenly realms.

1372. So as a catcher for baseball,

  1373. you probably understand

  1374. better than anyone else

  1375. about the importance

1376. of having the right equipment on.

1377. It would not be smart

1378. for you to go out

1379. and just catch with no gear.

1380. And so the same thing

  1381. is true spiritually.

1382. You can read the rest

  1383. of Ephesians chapter 6,

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

1384. which I put all the verses

1385. in your cards by the way

1386. if you didn't remember what I said

1387. if you want to look it up later.

1388. But God tells us to put on

  1389. the full armor

1390. so that we're ready for all the evil

1391. that the world is going

  1392. to throw out you

  1393. because this is not

  1394. a perfect world.

  1395. It's a world full of destruction

  1396. and hatred.

  1397. Unfortunately, God calls us

1398. to bring love and light

1399. into that and you're going

1400. to be able to do that

1401. in such a powerful way.

1402. When you put on the armor of God,

  1403. when you equip yourself

1404. day after day to be ready

  1405. for everything the world

1406. is going to throw out you

1407. so you can instead reflect

  1408. the light of God

1409. and the power of God

1410. instead of the power of the devil.

1411. So for you as a baseball player

1412. and thankfully your playing days

  1413. are not over.

1414. You're going to play in college,

  1415. right?

1416. And then hopefully you have

  1417. five more wins, right?

  1418. Five more wins.

  1419. Hopefully five more wins

1420. in high school as well.

1421. But you seem like someone

  1422. who just truly loves

  1423. the sport of baseball.

1424. So one day you're going

1425. to be a coach, right?

  1426. So I'm getting you

  1427. your coach equipment ready

1428. to get a whistle, get a hat.

1429. Maybe one day when Daniel Nash

1430. or my kids are older,

1431. you could be their baseball coach

1432. and teach them to play

1433. the beautiful game of baseball.

  1434. So thank you.

1435. All right, up next is Hayden.

  1436. You know the spiel.

1437. My name is Hayden Roberts.

  1438. I'm graduating from Chesney

1439. and I'm attending Clemson University

  1440. to study engineering.

1441. So what do I say

1442. and give to the girl

  1443. who has everything?

  1444. You've got gadgets

  1445. and gizmos aplenty.

1446. We can keep going down that road,

  1447. but we won't.

  1448. You're incredibly smart.

  1449. You've competed and won

  1450. in Chesney pageants

  1451. over the years.

1452. You're all state in volleyball.

1453. You won the school talent show.

  1454. And most importantly,

  1455. you've been a part

1456. of the winning team at Youth Camp.

1457. Basically every year you've gone.

  1458. Obviously, that's the highest

  1459. ranking accomplishment you have.

1460. It's truly been an honor

1461. to be a youth pastor

  1462. all these years.

  1463. And sometimes I think

  1464. I'm a pretty good

  1465. youth pastor.

  1466. I'm not totally incompetent.

1467. And then the rest of the days

  1468. I remember that

  1469. there's the hatans

  1470. of the youth group

1471. that really is what leads

1472. and spurs us on to

  1473. winning at camp

  1474. and things like that.

  1475. And so I can't say enough

1476. good things about your Hayden.

  1477. I have a verse for you.

  1478. Colossians 3 23 to 24.

  1479. Whatever you do,

1480. work at it with all your heart

1481. as working for the Lord,

  1482. not for human masters.

  1483. Since you know that

1484. you will receive an inheritance

1485. from the Lord as a reward,

1486. it is the Lord Christ

  1487. that you are serving.

1488. You're going to succeed in life.

1489. There's no doubt about that, right?

  1490. No one doubts that

1491. you're going to do very well.

1492. And so what I want to say

  1493. to you, Hayden,

  1494. is there's no pressure

1495. for you to succeed, right?

  1496. You have high standards

1497. for yourself as you should.

1498. You're going to work hard,

  1499. thrive like you should,

  1500. but it's easy

  1501. for someone like you

1502. to have the world's weight

  1503. in your own weight

1504. of pressure to do well

  1505. at everything.

  1506. And part of it

1507. is because you are good

  1508. at everything.

  1509. But you are valuable

  1510. and important

  1511. not because you have

  1512. numerous state championship rings

  1513. and trophies.

  1514. You're valuable and important

1515. because you are Hayden Roberts, right?

1516. The Lord loves you deeply.

1517. If you never played another sport,

1518. you never sang another song,

1519. like you would still be

1520. unbelievably loved by the Father.

1521. And I want you to always remember that,

1522. that your value doesn't come

  1523. from your accomplishments.

1524. As great as they are,

1525. your value comes from who you are, right?

1526. To the Lord and to me.

1527. And so whatever you do,

1528. do it for the Lord.

  1529. Whether it's you decide

1530. you want to work at Walgreens

1531. the rest of your life,

  1532. that would be okay.

1533. I know you don't want to do it,

  1534. but it's okay.

1535. If you go on to graduate

1536. top of your class at college,

  1537. own a business,

  1538. make seven digits,

1539. or maybe you get married,

  1540. have kids,

1541. and stay home with them.

  1542. Whatever you do,

1543. do it for the Lord

  1544. and that will be

  1545. a good successful thing

  1546. that you do, right?

  1547. So don't put the world's

  1548. weight on your shoulders,

  1549. but instead,

  1550. just serve the Lord.

  1551. Love Him.

  1552. So for you,

  1553. again, it's really hard

  1554. to figure out

1555. what to get for you.

1556. So what do I get?

  1557. Someone who's got everything?

  1558. A children's book.

  1559. I don't know if you've ever

  1560. read this book,

  1561. but it was really

1562. placed on my heart for you.

  1563. It's You Are Special

  1564. by Max Licato.

  1565. Take it, read it,

  1566. and take the message

1567. that it has to heart,

1568. because I think it really

  1569. can be impactful

  1570. for you going forward.

1571. I don't know why we give up

  1572. on kids' books

1573. sometimes when we get older,

  1574. because there are some

1575. great messages in kids' books.

  1576. So that's specifically

  1577. for you, Hayden.

  1578. So go read it.

1579. And last, but certainly not

  1580. least, Jared.

1581. My name is Jared Bishop.

  1582. Graduating from Chestnut High

  1583. School, and I'm listed

1584. in the United States name.

  1585. Jared, you've probably made

1586. being a youth pastor here.

1587. I'm going to look at my notes,

  1588. because it's been a long time

1589. and it might get hard here.

1590. Trying to keep the tears dry,

  1591. or no tears,

1592. whatever I was trying to say.

  1593. But you've made

1594. being a youth pastor here

  1595. more fun

1596. than just about anyone else,

  1597. from youth camp

  1598. for so many years,

  1599. youth conventions,

  1600. Jerusalem Project,

1601. playing all kinds of games

  1602. and sports,

  1603. watching you play games

  1604. and sports,

  1605. making YouTube videos.

  1606. It's been so fun

  1607. over the years.

  1608. I've enjoyed being

1609. your youth pastor so much.

  1610. And truthfully,

  1611. I don't know

1612. if there's ever going to be

  1613. another one,

1614. especially at my stage of life

  1615. with having kids.

  1616. Like, I don't know

1617. if there's going to be

  1618. another time

1619. that someone's going to bring

  1620. more fun

  1621. to this youth group

1622. than you have over the years.

  1623. And I mean that.

  1624. During the YouTube video,

  1625. like five years ago,

  1626. it was the one

  1627. when I was walking 39 miles

  1628. at the battlefield

  1629. in one day.

1630. I had some of the youth

  1631. join me.

1632. You were one of those people,

1633. and during one of those videos,

  1634. I don't remember the context

1635. of it, but you're like,

  1636. well, you know

1637. I'm your favorite youth, right?

  1638. And I didn't say anything

  1639. in that moment,

  1640. because

1641. I'm not supposed to admit

  1642. my favorites,

1643. and I'm also not supposed to lie.

  1644. And so I didn't know

  1645. what to do,

1646. and so I didn't say anything then,

  1647. and I'm also going

1648. to not say anything now.

  1649. You can interpret

1650. what you want from silence.

  1651. So for you, Jared,

  1652. verse for you, Mark 9 35.

  1653. Sitting down,

1654. Jesus called the 12 and said,

1655. anyone who wants to be first

1656. must be the very last

1657. and the servant of all.

1658. And I share that with you

  1659. because I think

1660. that can be a verse

  1661. that can help define

  1662. you going forward,

  1663. to be a servant

1664. that God has called you to be

1665. also because I have seen

  1666. that in you

1667. so many times over the years.

1668. People love to give you

1669. a hard time about stuff

  1670. for whatever reason,

  1671. but I've seen you

  1672. multiple times

1673. clean up other people's messes

1674. that you did not make.

1675. I've seen you take time

1676. with people who feel left out

  1677. or are left out

1678. and you take time with them.

1679. I've seen you be the person

  1680. who's willing to help

  1681. an older lady

1682. in the parking lot escort

1683. her up the ramp at church

1684. and help her to get her to see.

1685. I've seen you numerous times

  1686. over the years,

1687. be quick to be a servant.

1688. And so I want you to take

  1689. that servant's heart,

  1690. the heart of Christ,

  1691. as you entered

1692. in the world of the Navy,

1693. because the military is going

1694. to want to break you down

1695. and build you back up

1696. how they want you to be, right?

  1697. But your challenge

  1698. is to maintain

1699. the image of Christ first, right?

1700. Be the man that God

1701. has called you to be,

  1702. be the servant

1703. who is ready to put others first.

  1704. Don't go ready

  1705. to tear others down,

  1706. but go ready

  1707. to build others up,

  1708. go ready to serve.

  1709. Because when you serve,

1710. yes, you're putting yourself last,

  1711. but one day

1712. Jesus will put you first

1713. and that'll make it all

1714. worth it in the end.

1715. So like I said earlier,

1716. I always struggle to know

  1717. what to get people

  1718. going to the military

1719. so I actually got you

  1720. a really selfish gift.

  1721. The golf club.

1722. You actually can't have this.

  1723. It's just representative

  1724. of the gift

  1725. because I don't know

1726. whose golf club it is.

1727. I found it in the gym.

  1728. If anyone's missing a three iron,

1729. it's been in the gym for a while.

  1730. This is probably yours.

1731. But my gift for you Jared

1732. is to go play golf together.

1733. Like I'll take you out.

1734. I'll play for your golf

1735. because about a year ago,

  1736. you embarrassed me

1737. like I've never been embarrassed.

1738. I didn't know how bad it was

1739. at golf plus one golf club.

1740. And so give me as an old man

1741. one last fun time, right?

1742. Hopefully you have fun too,

1743. but I want to have that

  1744. one more time

1745. before you go off to the military

1746. to go enjoy playing together,

  1747. laughing together

  1748. and competing together.

1749. So that's my gift to you.

  1750. Sometime whenever

  1751. your schedule is free

1752. with work and all stuff

  1753. you've got going on,

1754. we'll go play some golf together.

  1755. All right.

  1756. I'm going to ask

1757. all the seniors now to come up

1758. and we're going to have a moment

1759. where if you want to,

  1760. I encourage you here

1761. just kind of like line up

  1762. on the floor actually.

1763. And so what we can do is

1764. I encourage you if you know them,

1765. if you don't know them,

1766. come up and let's pray over them.

1767. If you want to lay hands

1768. on them and pray with them,

1769. if you just want to hold

1770. your hand and pray with them,

1771. but I encourage you stand up

1772. and have some people come forward

1773. and let's pray for these seniors

1774. because I want to treat this

  1775. not just as a I mean,

1776. hopefully we see a lot of them still.

1777. Not all of them are going super far,

1778. but I want to treat this

1779. as a time where we're praying over them

  1780. and launching them out

  1781. into all the things

1782. that God has for them,

  1783. whether that's college,

  1784. whether that's work,

  1785. whether that's the military,

  1786. whatever it is,

1787. we want to make sure

1788. that we are sending them out on mission

1789. because God has great things

1790. for each and every one of them.

  1791. So let's come forward.

  1792. Keep coming forward.

  1793. I'm going to pray

1794. and then we'll go from there.

  1795. God, we just say

  1796. thank you for today

1797. and God, I thank you

1798. for each and every one of these youth.

1799. I'm so thankful for them.

  1800. I'm so thankful

1801. for the impact they've made on my life.

  1802. I'm so thankful

1803. for the impact they've made on this church.

  1804. I'm so thankful

1805. the impact they've made in the community.

  1806. I'm so thankful

  1807. the impact they've made

1808. at places like youth camp.

  1809. God, they have done

  1810. so many wonderful things.

  1811. They've accomplished

  1812. so many great things,

1813. but God, more than anything,

  1814. they are your children

  1815. that you love deeply

1816. and God, as they go

1817. into this next stage of life,

1818. all of them is entering

  1819. into wonderful, beautiful plans

1820. that you have for them.

  1821. God, I pray

  1822. that they will thrive,

  1823. that they will

1824. succeed beyond their wildest dreams,

1825. but God, also on top of that,

1826. that you will help them to know

1827. their purpose and their calling

1828. of how you can fulfill their futures

1829. to make an eternal impact

  1830. on other people's lives.

1831. God, I pray that you will use

1832. each and every one of them

  1833. as someone who sees

  1834. other people be saved,

  1835. sees other people

  1836. take steps of baptism,

  1837. see other people

1838. start reading the Bible on their own.

1839. God, I pray that each person

1840. will have a ministry specifically

  1841. that will make

  1842. an eternal impact, God.

  1843. God, in this church

  1844. and around the world,

1845. God, I pray some of them

1846. one day might have a call

1847. to missions in addition to military

1848. and God, that they will be willing

1849. to go to the ends of the earth

  1850. to tell people

  1851. how much you love

  1852. and care about them.

1853. So we pray for that.

1854. And God, I pray that we

1855. as a church can pray that

1856. not just in this moment,

1857. but we can pray that

  1858. in the coming days,

  1859. weeks, months, years.

1860. God, each one of them

1861. will know that they are

  1862. deeply loved by God

1863. and that they are deeply

  1864. loved by Graham Chapel.

  1865. Help us to know

  1866. how to encourage them

  1867. when classes are hard,

  1868. when they're going

1869. through difficulties at boot camp,

  1870. when they're going

  1871. through challenges at work.

1872. God, help us to know

  1873. how to encourage them

  1874. in those moments,

1875. how to build them up

1876. and how to help strengthen them

1877. in their faith in you.

  1878. And so God,

1879. we just simply give them to you

  1880. that there's yours

  1881. in the first place

1882. and we just simply return them

  1883. to you and say,

  1884. God, do a great

1885. and mighty thing for your glory

1886. in each and every one of their lives.

1887. And God, may you just tell

  1888. great stories through them

  1889. and may generations

  1890. and generations and generations

1891. be impacted by the blessings

  1892. that you pour out

1893. into each and every one of them.

1894. And we pray this in Jesus' name.

1895. All right, let's give them

1896. one more round of applause.

1897. Yeah, I'm going to do that.

  1898. Is Eli here?

  1899. Is Eli here too?

1900. All right, in just a second,

1901. I'm going to dismiss you all

  1902. to the battlefield.

1903. With all these high school graduates,

1904. the most of our focus

1905. is on the high school graduates,

  1906. but they're also a handful

1907. of college graduates as well.

1908. Eli Garrett's not here today,

  1909. but he just graduated

  1910. from Clemson University.

  1911. Abigail Godfrey,

1912. I think is helping with kids today.

  1913. She's also a college graduate

  1914. and we've got

1915. the wonderful Haley Edmonds as well,

  1916. who is a graduate

1917. of Southern West Lane University.

1918. And so we focus a lot

  1919. on the high schoolers

  1920. who are graduating,

1921. but we also, as a church,

  1922. want to remember

  1923. the college graduates

  1924. is to encourage them

  1925. and say good job.

  1926. You've done well.

1927. Look forward to see things

1928. that God does in your life.

1929. So I'm going to pray

  1930. for the meal here

1931. and then we're going to dismiss you.

  1932. Again, we encourage you

1933. to go to the cow pens battlefield,

1934. put it in your GPS,

  1935. follow someone else there.

  1936. We've already bought

  1937. all the food.

  1938. They've already made it.

1939. And so go enjoy it.

1940. We're going to play lots of games.

  1941. You can high five

  1942. some of these seniors

  1943. and we can continue

1944. to have a good time

  1945. this afternoon.

  1946. But let me pray

  1947. and bless the food.

1948. God, thank you for this day.

1949. Thank you for a beautiful day outside.

1950. Thank you for the opportunity

  1951. to fellowship together

1952. as a church at the battleground.

1953. God, help us to get there safely.

1954. Help us have a great time together.

1955. And God, I pray that

1956. you will bless the food

1957. as we eat it there

1958. and help it to nourish our bodies.

1959. We pray in Jesus name.

  1960. Amen.
