How Can This Be? - Ps. Emmanuel Osei-Akosah

So without wasting time, we hand over the microphone to our dear

pastor. Shall we welcome him with a clap

offering? Oh, praise the Lord, we thank

God for this evening and you want to thank God for the grace

that He has enabled us to meet here together.

And today being the second day of the global fasting and

prayers, we thank the Almighty God.

Amen. Oh, I said Amen.

The theme for this two weeks or 14 days can be found in the

Gospel according to Luke chapter one, verse 35.

But I want to read from the 34 and I'm speaking on how can this

happen? How can this happen or how will

this be or how can it be? How can it be?

How can this happen? Can we take it from the new

living translation NLT? If you have it, then we can

start. OK so Luke chapter 134, Mary

asked the Angel. But how can this happen?

I am a virgin, The Angel replied.

The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most

High will over shadow you. So the baby to be born will be

holy and he will be called the Son of God.

Amen. So I'm speaking on how can this

happen, How can this happen? And I cannot finish it all this

evening. So divide into two and then God

willing, on Sunday, we'll look at the final part.

So that the that phrase or is a question that is usually used to

express shock, disbelief, confusion in response to

something that humanly we think cannot happen.

So depending on the context, it could mean that it's a question

that we ask when situation seems impossible, when we think that

things cannot happen in our view or in within our scope of our

thoughts. Sometimes we even come to prayer

meetings, we come to church, or even God tells you a word or God

reviews something to you in a dream or in a vision.

Anything that something. We are tempted to think that

this is too good to be true. How can this happen?

Probably you might have had a lot of them in the thinking.

How can this happen? Mostly these words when they are

asked, it means that it is the response of the human mind to a

supernatural action which we think that is beyond the human

comprehension. So we want to examine some

contexts where human beings as like us use the same

expressions. How can this happen when there

was the supernatural encounters or there was the supernatural

manifestation of God's power? And through it all, the bottom

line or the game changer to this question and the questions that

will follow is the Holy Spirit. So anywhere you see, I'm going

to show you about about four or five instances from the New

Testament where they asked this question, whether it was asked

by an individual, a Group, A city, they all ask together, how

can this happen? Then you see that the Holy Ghost

is at work there. So the Holy Spirit is the answer

of the game changer to the question, how can this happen?

So the first of the of those that we'll be looking at will be

Mary, Mary, and some of these characters that we're going to

look at, some of them asked the question out of curiosity, some

to ask out of disbelief. They could not think how God can

use ordinary men to do supernatural things in their

time. May God do great things with us

even as we delve deeper in interest.

May God inspire hope that if God can do it with them.

Elijah was a human being like us, but he prayed that there

should be no ring, and the heavens answered.

May God also do good things with us, and may people come and ask

us how can it happen. Then you see that the power of

God is at work. So the first of about 5 that

we'll be looking at is Mary, Mary, Mary.

Mary asked the question when the Angel first came to A and

greeted her. So when you look Luke 128, the

Angel came and described Mary as highly favored and called her

blessed among women. Somebody who is highly favored

and blessed among all women. Yet she was about to get married

to somebody who was not a king, who was not rich.

So if it were to be a time, how can you say that I am favored

and I'm blessed? Probably favored he has because

he's about to get she was about to get married, but she was also

living in a location Nazareth among the Galilee of nations, a

place where Isaiah even says that her people dwelling in

darkness. So how can anything good come

out from where she was? So her location was not as you

may think. Probably she should be living in

Jerusalem, Jericho, Jordan, and those big towns.

But Mary was living in obscurity, yet the favor of the

Lord located her. So when God's favor is looking

for you, it doesn't matter where you are, but it matters who or

what God has said about you. May God's favor locate us

irrespective of our location, where we think that nobody cares

about and nobody's seen us. The eyes of the Lord are upon

us. Hallelujah.

So then what was I was thinking then?

Someone who is blessed and highly favored is someone who is

called to fulfill God's agenda. Someone who is blessed and

highly favored. I think that in my thoughts is

someone who is called to fulfill an agenda of God on earth and

someone who can make, who can change the course of history.

Such a person is favored. And I think that we too, because

of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ on us, we are favored and

we are also blessed. Hallelujah.

So on earth Mary, if you want to know more about her and the

meaning of the significance of what the Angel said, you may

have to go back to her song, the song that she she sang, the

magnificent. Then you will see that she was

telling us that the Lord can go down and look for somebody who

is low, somebody people don't even care so much about.

How can God, this is such a person.

Hallelujah. Oh, I said Hallelujah.

If you are here, let me hear your Amen.

So after that Mary also gave us a song and that song just let me

read just aspects. Luke 146 Oh how my soul praises

the Lord, how my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

For he took notice of his lowly servant girl.

Look at how Mary is describing herself in her song.

For He took notice of her, of his lowly 7 girl.

And from now on all generations will call me blessed. 49 For the

Almighty 1 is holy, and he has done great things for me.

He shows mercy from generation to degeneration to all who fear

Him. So Mary is now giving us a clue

as to how God shows His mercy. Those who fear Him, may we fear

Him. 51 says that his mighty arm has done tremendous things.

He has scattered the proud. And another clue is that you

need to be humble. If you are proud, God himself

will oppose you. Then she moves on to say that He

has brought down Princess from their throne and exalted the

humble. Look up the descriptive words.

Mary is used as giving us a clue that Mary was a humble, lowly

servant girl of God. She described herself as a

servant of God. Nyaminipa Afina.

Look at how she's describing herself.

She have a relationship with God.

And so favor does not just locate anybody out of the

vacuum. There has to be that

relationship. If you humble yourself, He will

lift you up. He said that He has filled the

hungry with good things and has sent the rich away with empty

hands. He has helped his servant Israel

and remembered to be merciful. Amen.

So look at how Mary described herself that lowly servants.

So it was like she was she was not even recognized her name.

So another thing I have learned from Mary is that heavenly

perspective of our identity is important than the earthly one.

Heaven greeted her with her identity, her true identity that

thou highly favored and blessed among women.

That was how heaven recognized her.

But on earth she was a nobody. She was a lowly servant.

So what God thinks of you is much more higher than what human

beings think of you. May God, may God's identity

about us be revealed to you as you pray.

May the Lord reveal unto you Gideon.

Gideon too, had gone into hiding.

He was afraid of the Midianites. And in fact, if you look at how

God defeated the Midianite, it, it became a byword, it even

became part of the prophetic word of Isaiah 9, as in the days

of the Midianites, how they were defeated.

So God took notice of Gideon, somebody who was afraid, hiding

even to thresh his own, you know, farm produce.

Then the Angel came, thou mighty man of Villa, and you know was

like, Are you sure you are referring to me who someone who

has going to hide him. But in the end, look at how God

through his word and his power led him to bring victory to the

nation. So Heaven's perspective, how

heaven looks and sees you is more important because on earth

there could be limitations. There are limited.

All those that God called, everybody had his own.

Everybody could point to you. Lord, I am this God, I am that I

cannot do that. But heaven recognize them that

you are do you can do it. So this week as we are

fastening, we are praying. May we catch a glimpse of how

heaven describes you in heaven, and may we pray by prayer.

May we get into the destinies that God has for us.

So Mary on earth, highly favored, but lived in obscurity.

They lived in Galilee, Nazareth, far away, away from the door.

They were Jews from Judah. Now let's move a little bit

further. Among all women, blessed among

all women, every woman on earth has a mandate and they carry

womb. So by creation, God made a man

with a womb and called her woman with the mandate of incubating

and carrying and bringing forth generations.

So of all the women on earth who had womb, Mary's womb would be a

very special place to hide from the world, the King of Glory.

So Mary was favored, and throughout history her name was

going to be mentioned and mentioned and mentioned because

her womb and her breast and her body carried God.

Isn't it so amazing? That is what it means that the

Angel told her that she is favored and blessed among all

women. Hallelujah and she was going to

fulfill the the word of God in Genesis 315 that the seed of the

woman. So Mary was that woman who was

going to carry that seed and to bring forth to destroy the

serpent the devil. So Mary in God's agenda had a

unique role to play. Today we too, we all have unique

roles to play as we pray. May God review to you.

May you receive a visitation so that you will know.

Then when Mary received the word then she asked the question, how

can this happen? Mary's one was asked out of

curiosity. Since I am a virgin.

So gracious words, powerful words, beautiful words, yet it

seemed impossible humanly. But the answer that the Angel

gave is the Holy Spirit. Shout the Holy Spirit, oh shout

it, the Holy Spirit, mention his name, the Holy Ghost, Amen.

So no matter your location and your earthly status, when you

receive the Word of God with the Holy Ghost, your story will

change. That is what I have seen.

No matter who you are, no matter your status, once you receive

God's word and the Holy Ghost come upon you and the power of

the of the most I over shadow you, your story must change.

Hallelujah, you cannot afford to remain the same.

So in our time tune the Holy Ghost has come forever to abide

and his power has to over shadow us fully so that with the word

of God in us we will produce holy things.

Amen. Oh I said Amen.

So the Holy Spirit is the game changer.

If you want to really see what changed.

The whole thing is the Holy Spirit is who is who.

The Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost, Mary could have given excuses.

Mary, like us, could have given excuses.

Why she cannot? Sometimes we think that we are

poor, we are young, we cannot speak, we are not educated.

We are least in our home school. Bear crying your core here.

We don't have the money. We don't have what it takes.

We can complain and complain and complain, but that list can be

endless without the Holy Spirit. Just allow the Holy Ghost to

settle upon you, to over shadow you.

Then you will see that you are carrying something powerful and

something great. May the Lord pour out His Spirit

upon us in several folds in the name of Jesus.

If you are here, give me a wave, give me a wave, give me a wave.

Because evening service, we come in mostly tired, our end soon,

so that you will not try to sleep on me.

So on Sunday we'll finish with the other part.

So let's look at the angels answer.

The answer of the Angel came in two folds.

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, The power of the Most High

will over shadow you. So these are two expressions.

Why would the Angel be so specific?

The Holy Spirit will come upon you.

That one could have been enough. But the Angel, going further,

say that the power of the Most High will over shadow you.

So the Holy Spirit is the person, the Presence of the Holy

Spirit will come into your life and his effect, his

manifestation, his activity will also be seen over your life.

So it is not just for being there sake.

So it is like the sun. The sun rises from the east

through of us, but the sun also gives us heat and light.

So you can have the presence of the sun which is there, but

right now the heat and the light, we cannot feel it because

the earth has moved away from it.

But when it comes up, the sun is there.

But we need to also feel the effects of the sun, the effect

the what it gives. So it is like source and effects

source, the Holy Spirit being the source.

The person, the person Niyami should God and the power of the

moon must high. They effect who what he brings

as you allow him the manifestation of his power in

your life. So these two are important for

the believer. The Angel did not just give it

for fan sake. So whilst I was looking at it

then my mind got to the point that justification and

sanctification are seen here. Why am I saying so?

The Holy Spirit will come upon you.

So the coming upon of the of on us.

The Holy Spirit I can link it to justified by faith.

Why is it so? The moment you accept Jesus

Christ as your Lord and Savior, it is the work of the Holy

Spirit to baptize you, to come upon you, to baptize you into

the mystical Body of Christ. He is the one who comes into

you, into your inner man, to quicken the soul to become alive

unto God. So that is the first point, the

Holy Spirit coming upon you. But when it comes to the

overshadowing power, that is the sanctification because

overshadowing here means that the Greek word that they use

here is episcuisal meaning to shed influence upon, to

influence, to shed influence. So the Holy Spirit is in us, but

we need him to shed his influence.

So overshadowing us also comes with yielding and surrounding.

So as we yield and we surrender to him, then he over shadow us

over means that you yours must not be seen again.

Just as when you read Matthew 17 five at the mountain when Jesus

was transfigured. The glory that came up on him is

the same geek word that they used episcal overshadowing and

when Peter and and Kuwait wake up they saw that he was dazzling

with In fact, there was no white on earth that could be compared

to him. So if you want the power of the

Holy Ghost to over shadow us, it means that as we yield to Him

and He produces in US holiness, go.

When the over shadowing power came, Mary, the Holy Spirit

came, the overshadowing power came and gave birth so that we

can give birth to Jesus. Character in our life.

Other than that, we cannot give birth to holy things.

So then you say that the baby that I give birth to shall be

called holy. So for us to the moment we

accept Christ Jesus, the Holy Ghost comes upon us.

He comes upon us to make His dwelling in US.

And then as we allow him to overpower us, as we allow him to

take full control, so the of overpowering and I think another

word can be used as the baptism. So sanctification and Holy

Spirit baptism, we yield to him, He gains much control.

He bears the fruit of the Spirit, and He operates and

manifests His giftings in US so that holy things can come out

from us. So the Holy Spirit coming up on

us is helping us to live holy life.

The output that God deserves from us is that we need to bring

out holy things. And how can we sinners bring

holy things unless the Holy Spirit comes upon us?

He overshadows us and we bear fruit of the Spirit.

Hallelujah. So it was not just for Mary.

But now God is saying that He wants to produce many Jesus on

earth. God wants to multiply His Son

all over the earth and how can He do that?

By His Spirit. His Spirit needs to come and

come upon us as He breathed on the disciples receive the Holy

Spirit, and in Acts 2 the the power.

Of the Lord overshadowed. Them and it made them ready for

signs and wonders and to bring forth good things.

May we experience this too. May we not just end with the

Holy Ghost coming upon us at new birth, the Holy Spirit comes.

That is the difference between some time ago between the

Christian faith and strands. That is why we got the

Pentecostalism out of the evangelicals.

Do you know why? Because evangelicals and those

who had gone ahead, they were like, when you receive Christ,

the Holy Spirit is already in you.

You don't need another experience.

But the, but the Pentecostal guys were like, no, actually

there was another experience. And that one is the baptism.

And that one, the manifestation is very powerful.

And now the evangelicals and all of those people, they have come

to accept it. So we need to may the Holy

Spirit who is alright upon us, help us so that we can change

our position positionally. But when you are justified, your

position changes. You are now right with God.

You are not just as if you have never seen.

God now sees you as a St. but he needs to produce an effect in

you and that effect needs to be everyday.

The Holy Spirit should overpower you, should over shadow, you

should feel you. So the overshadowing means that

there is a degree. We can all be the same page

because some allow him to over shadow, some will allow him a

partial 1 others can allow him full and I pray that may his

power over shadow us and cover us completely so that our birth

of Christ can be full. So we need both, we need both.

We need both the gift of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the

Spirit. If you have just the gift

without fruits, it is dangerous catastrophe, and you have the

fruits without the gift to the impact, and the rich is somehow

limited. So we need both so that we will

be like Christ on earth and we will demonstrate his power too,

so that Christ will be formed in US.

Hallelujah. Oh, I said Hallelujah.

So we need to surrender to him. We need to surrender to him, the

Holy Spirit upon us. Let me talk a little bit about

that one. The coming upon us as the Holy

Spirit is also the seal of God on us.

The seal of God. The seal is to prove the

authenticity of the products. Sometimes anytime you you buy

some of the highly, you know, recognized products, the right.

If the seal is broken, do not use if the seal is what broken

do you know is why because it could mean that it's not coming

from the original source. So for God to identify us as his

own. The kind of seal or the approval

to show that we are authentic identity that we are product of

grace is the Holy Spirit. So the coming upon us by the

Holy Spirit is God seal. And Paul says it in a very nice

way. Let's go to the book of

Ephesians 113, Ephesians 113, and then Ephesians 430,

Ephesians 113, and Ephesians 430.

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the

message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, when you

believed you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy

Spirit. You know what marked in him what

what a seal and what what is the seal?

The Holy Ghost and then 430 of the same book.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with whom you were

what sealed so you were. It is not that now God is going

to do it. You were sealed for the day of

redemption. So today is coming when God is

going to finally redeem us. And the only thing that you look

out for for redemption is His seal, the Holy Ghost.

May the seal of God on us never be destroyed and May God locate

us as we pray. May the Holy Ghost come upon us

afresh. May the Lord pour upon us His

Spirit, and may He over shadow us, may overpower us.

Acts 18. Let's check out what he says.

But you will receive what when the Holy Spirit comes.

So when the Holy Spirit comes, his effect is power anytime,

what wherever He goes, power flows.

His power what would definitely show.

So even as we pray, let us know that the personhood of the Holy

Spirit is the presence of God. Amen.

And His power in US is His support and His demonstrative

abilities. That He has come on us, let us

view on our feet. The Spirit has come forever to

abide. I have pentacles in my soul.

We are praying. We have heard that how can this

be can only be possible by the Holy Ghost.

So we are praying that dear Holy Spirit, fill me one more time

over shadow me and continue to abide upon me.

I'm going to my head with fresh oil and fill me with your power

over shadow my flesh over shadow the self.

May the may Jesus be born in me, may Christ be form in me, and

may the character of Jesus and his power both be demonstrable

in my life. Open your mouth.

And integrate the Lord Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank.

You for the holy. Spirit, thank you for giving us

your spirit. Thank you for giving us your

Spirit, dear Holy Ghost. We need you every day.

We need you every time. Just as you descended of

America. Law continue to anoint us on

Of overshadowing is when the chicken there is ham approaching

and the chicks go under the hen for the mother to cover them

with fence. Some of us, it is not that the

Holy Spirit cannot over shadow us.

We don't wait for Him. We think that we can jump ahead.

We think that we are OK. We can get out out of His power.

But there are seats of greatness in US.

They are dreams that are bigger than us.

There are great things that we need to do to change the course

of history on earth and that we need to dwell.

We need to wait. We need to dwell and wait for

Him to over shadow us so that He can back in us the good things.

Tonight we are praying that, oh God, whatever seed of greatness

in me, whatever dream that we have revealed on to me, that

looks very scary and almost impossible, today I submit

myself unto you. Today I submit myself for your

power to over shadow me, over shadow me, O God, over shadow

me, O Spirit of God, and let weaknesses disappear.

Let excuses vanish. Pray to the Lord.

Be serious with this. Prayer, pray your heart out,

pray to the Lord lay Basu Qatar. Holy Spirit, we dwell on your

feet. Lord let you over shadow him,

over shadow us. Every greatness in US, every

vision. That you have shown us every

greatness that you have in us. That must come.

For today we submit. We submit ourselves.

We submit ourselves in the name of Jesus.

Pray, pray, pray that the overshadowing power of God of

the Holy St. overshadowing power of the Most High will cover me.

praying, keep on praying. As soon as I travel, she brought

yeah. Holy Ghost over shadow us and

bad greatness in US, whatever way we have received, whatever

vision that you have revealed in the name of Jesus best.

Greatness, like greatness, is born.

Let wishes be accomplished in the name of Jesus, in the name

of Jesus. We need you every day.

Spirit is the game changer. Once you receive the Word of God

and with the Holy Spirit upon you overshadowing you, the story

will change because the Jesus will be born.

Jesus will be conceived and he will be born.

So we are praying the Holy Ghost.

We submit ourselves to you. Let weaknesses disappear.

Let excuses dissolve. Let your power be seen.

Manifest your power in my life. Manifest your presence in my

life. May your presence in my life

manifest your power. So we are praying the Holy

Ghost. May your presence with me

manifest your power. I yield unto you.

Manifest your. Power.

Manifest your power. May your presence with me

manifest. Your power.

Lift up a prayer to the Lord. Talk to the Holy.

Ghost talk to him. Is here is here is.

His grace is sufficient. Sufficient in the name of Jesus.

In this two weeks, he asked the Lord to make all things new.

May the Lord touch us anew. May the Lord.

location or even how earth sees us, but today we accept that the

heavens identity of our life is supreme.

And so, O Lord, any seed of greatness in us, as Holy Spirit,

You over shadow us and your presence with us, 'cause great

things to be birthed in us in the name of Jesus.

This two weeks, O Lord, today being the day 2 content to give

us the grace and the strength for the journey and review

yourself in a much special way for us.

May we have an encounter with you through and through in Jesus

name, Amen. Well, let's bless our pastor
