-
Elder Emmanuel AJ Amen. Praise the Lord, oh praise the
-
living God. Hallelujah.
-
Thank God so much for how far He has brought us and how far He
-
has brought the church as a whole.
-
Today is another day that our Lord God has made and Bible says
-
you must rejoice and be glad in it.
-
Hallelujah. Thank the church, the pastor,
-
which I thank our presiding elder for giving me this
-
opportunity to come and also teach the word of God to his
-
people. Hallelujah.
-
This morning we have been tasked to come and teach one of the
-
tenants of our church for all of us to understand and know what
-
that particular tenants is used in the church.
-
So that nobody will be able to convince you about that.
-
Because that particular aspect has been going on or people has
-
been talking about it in the Internet or on the Internet and
-
people are being deceived to take the side of those that are
-
on the Internet. But thanks be to God that our of
-
our leaders are following with keen interests and this one they
-
have tax us to come and teach on it.
-
So today is not preaching, today is teaching, and I believe we
-
all bring out our notebooks and write things down so that when
-
we go home and people are speaking about that particular
-
aspect will also come out of our chest high and our heads high
-
and also speak the truth for them to also learn.
-
Hallelujah. This morning we have been tasked
-
to speak on the 9th tenant of the church, the 9th tenant of
-
the church, which is tithe and offering.
-
Tithe and offering it is the 9th tenant of the Church of
-
Pentacles. So today we are going to look at
-
the meaning of tithe, the meaning of offering.
-
We'll also look at a small historical background of tithe.
-
Then. Then we'll look at the three
-
types of tithing that we have in the Old Testament and then look
-
at another tights that's it was done or a continuation of
-
tightening in the New Testament. At the end of that, we also look
-
at the reason why people don't give tights and then why the
-
need for giving tights. Then we also look at the
-
consequences of tightening which we look at the benefits or the
-
the negative aspects and then we also look at the positive or the
-
benefit aspect of tightening. Then the last one we will touch
-
on this morning will be the management and the disbursement
-
of the tides of the Church of Pentecost.
-
Your monies that you contribute at the end of the month, how
-
those monies are disburse in the Church of Pentecost.
-
This is being done so that we all know what our monies are
-
used for in the House of God. Hallelujah.
-
So I pray that you follow me with keen interest.
-
It will not belong. We'll touch on important aspects
-
that we are supposed to know and then we all go out of the
-
church. Hallelujah.
-
So we are going, we are saying we are looking at tights and
-
offering. So we are looking at tights
-
first. And as we already know, tights
-
is a tenth of our income. So as we are working and as we
-
are going about our daily activities, our businesses that
-
God has given unto us and the blessings that God has showered
-
unto us as we work, we believe that we will gain interest
-
because God is in our business. God is the one who has given us
-
these businesses that we are taking care of because the Bible
-
says that we are stewards of all that God has created and because
-
we are stewards and God has given us all those things to
-
cater for the land, the animals and other things that we are
-
taking care of. When we work with all those
-
things, we believe that God will shower his blessings on it and
-
then we will get something to take care of ourselves and our
-
families. So we are saying that giving
-
tithe, which is a 110th of our income, is an obligation that we
-
are supposed to do. Why?
-
Because we are stewards of all that God has created.
-
So we are saying that as and when we give tithe, which is an
-
obligation and which is a right for all Christians to do, we are
-
paying our debts and what we say we are paying our debts.
-
How do we pay our debts? Because God has given us
-
whatever we are using here on earth and we are having income
-
or interest on it, we are supposed to also appreciate God
-
for what He has done under us. So paying tight is an obligation
-
because going up and down even our life this morning, it is God
-
who has given us it under us. So as we are working, we pray
-
for work and God grant us work. The connections that we are
-
giving to all the opportunities that comes on our way for us to
-
get our individual jobs. It is not by our own efforts,
-
but it is by the grace of God. Some of us here can testify that
-
even our work that we are in right now, if we want to apply
-
for those work, we will not even get it.
-
But all these things are the favor and the grace of God that
-
we are doing. It is God who has given unto us.
-
So, we are saying that after these opportunities and after
-
these jobs given unto us for us to take care of or for us to
-
cater for, it is our right to pay tight, which is a 110th of
-
all income that has been given unto us.
-
So, if somebody gives you a gift which is also an income that you
-
have not worked for, we are expecting that you pay tight on
-
three. So we are saying that tight is
-
110th of our income, which is an obligation, a right to do
-
because we are paying our debts onto our God.
-
Hallelujah. So if you are here, we are not
-
paying our tithes, then it means we are not doing the right thing
-
that God has asked us to do. When we look at offering, we are
-
saying that offering is done in the church to show our
-
appreciation to God for His faithfulness towards us, not us
-
alone, towards the church, towards our families, towards
-
our businesses that God has given unto us.
-
So when we come to church and we give free will offering, this
-
morning you have gotten up and you are strong.
-
Even the journey from your house to the church, it is by the
-
grace of God that we have come. Somebody can get up and then
-
within the few minutes the person will go down again.
-
We have seen things and we have heard things.
-
So for God to shower His blessings unto us, bringing us
-
from our homes here into the House of God, it is a favor that
-
God has given unto us. So we are also obliged to also
-
thank God for His faithfulness unto us.
-
So this offering is not a must, but it is something that is
-
between you and your Creator. How far God has taken you
-
through Monday through Friday and today, Sunday we are here
-
and we are strong, so we have to appreciate what God has done
-
unto us. So when we come and we give
-
offering unto God in that direction, it means that we are
-
giving thanks unto God for His faithfulness unto us.
-
Hallelujah. So look at a small historical
-
background of tides. So we saw tides happening in the
-
Bible in Genesis 14, 17 to 22, Genesis 1417 to 22, where we saw
-
Abraham or Abraham that God took him through.
-
He went to a battle and as we already know, God took him
-
through the battle and then he was successful.
-
So Bible said that as he was coming home, back home he met 2
-
kings. Bible said that one was a king
-
of Sodom and one was the king of Salem.
-
The King of Sodom's name was not given back.
-
The king of Salem's name was given as Mechizedek.
-
Bible said that Mechizedek prayed for Abraham and then gave
-
him a wine and a bread. Abraham also recognized
-
Mechizedek as the King of the Most High, which means that he
-
is representing God on this earth.
-
So as Bible went on to explain unto us, he gave a 110th of all
-
that he has gained throughout the battle unto Meghisadeh.
-
Why did he do that? Because he believed that
-
throughout the battle and the success that he has chopped or
-
the success that he has gained, it was not done by his own
-
efforts. It was not done by his own
-
strength that he believed that it was God who took him and gave
-
him success. So he gave a 110th of all that
-
he has gotten from the battle unto God.
-
So that is where the tides started and it has continued
-
unto our time now. So we are looking at the three
-
types of Titan in the Old Testament.
-
The first one we'll be looking at this morning is the Levitical
-
Tides. The second one will be the
-
festival tights. Then the last one we'll be
-
looking at is the charity tights.
-
So we are looking at these three tights that our forefathers
-
practiced in the Old Testament. So we are saying that the
-
Levitical tights is the tights given to God like the one that
-
Abraham gave unto. Matthew said it, we give these
-
tithes to God, but as now as we are here we can't give this
-
money physically unto God. So people will be asking in the
-
Internet, people will be saying how do we give tithe to God
-
whilst we are here on earth. So they are saying tithe is no
-
more, but we are here to tell you that tithe is alive and
-
tithe is working. So as we give tithe unto God, we
-
can't give the physical money unto God.
-
So God has given people. To represent him on this earth,
-
to do the work that he came to do.
-
So we are saying that we give tithe to God through people who
-
God have selected to do his work on this earth.
-
And we all know that we give this tithe to the Levites who
-
are representing God, the priests who are representing God
-
or doing the work of God, the pastors, the apostles, the
-
teachers and the others that are doing the work of God.
-
So we give this to God. So the first one is the
-
Levitical tithe that we give to God, that we give to his people
-
who are representing Him on earth.
-
We have we will read Namus chapter 1821 through to 24.
-
Namus 1821 through to 24. So I give to the Levites all the
-
tides in Israel as their inheritance in retains for the
-
work they do while serving at the 10th of meeting.
-
Then we move on to the 22 for now on the Israelites.
-
For now, no Israelites must. For now on, the Israelites must
-
not go near the tides, the tent of Meeting, or they will bear
-
the consequences of their sins and would die. 23 It is the
-
Levites who are to do the work at the Tent of Meeting and bear
-
the responsibilities for any offering they might, or for any
-
offering they commit against it. And this is a lasting ordinance
-
for the generations to come. They will receive no inheritance
-
among the Israelites in the 24 Instead, I give the Levites as
-
the inheritance to the tides that the Israelites present as
-
an offering to the Lord. That is why I said concerning
-
them, they will have, they will have no inheritance among the
-
Israelites. So as we have read, as God was
-
sharing the inheritance to the people of the Israelites, the
-
the Levites was taken out because God has taxed them to do
-
a particular activity or a particular work in his house.
-
They are supposed to take care of the tent, do all other
-
offering in Tasi for forgiveness of the people of Israel, pray
-
for their work so that their work will increase, so that at
-
the end when they bring their tithes to the tents of the
-
house, our Levites who are doing their work there, they will
-
benefit. So tithes as a Levitical tithes
-
is for God and because God is not here with that physically,
-
those who are working are the people who are supposed to
-
benefit. So as people are saying in the
-
Internet that tight is no more this one.
-
We are here to clarify things. That tight is still there
-
because you have people who are standing in the presence of God
-
and they are working in the House of God.
-
So these people who have no inheritance, who have no job, we
-
have to take care of them. So we are using this tight to do
-
as God has instructed us. So we have the next one which is
-
the festival tithe. We are saying that this type of
-
tithe is taken every year or it is a yearly activity.
-
So at the end of every year, our tithe will be taken and will be
-
guarded in a particular house where God will instruct us or
-
where God has instructed the Israelites that every year we
-
come together as a family and then we celebrate this
-
particular tithe. It went on to explain that this
-
particular tithe, because God has given us a location and we
-
are all carrying our tithe to that pool, then we come together
-
and celebrate as a house. It gave room for people who God
-
has blessed them abundantly. And it says that those who have
-
been blessed abundantly and cannot carry whatever God has
-
given to them to that particular location can sell.
-
And then when they sell, they go to wherever they have been asked
-
to join or pull all their tights.
-
And then when they get there, there are people around who are
-
selling equal things like what they have sold.
-
So they will buy and then they will pull all together and then
-
they will do their celebration. So this is a festival 1.
-
So we can equally look at this as the one that's Joseph and
-
Mary went to Jerusalem to do. They were all asked to come to
-
do that celebration. So that is what they were doing
-
in the Old Testament. Then we'll look at the last one
-
that is the charity Tight, which is a tight that is also
-
collected in the Old Testament at the end of every three years.
-
So we have the tights that we do daily or monthly.
-
We have the tights that we do every year, which is the
-
festival one. Then we have another one that we
-
do at every three years, which is the charity one.
-
That one too is gathered in a pool and then Bible says that
-
they are shared or they are distributed after all has been
-
collected. Yeah, we are distributed to 1
-
the Levites, one, the aliens, the fatherless, the widows that
-
are in that particular community.
-
So we can see that Tides is doing a lot of things.
-
Those who have lost their husbands and their wives, we
-
cater for them with this festival or with this charity
-
Tides. And then the Levites who we have
-
just read about, who are working in the House of God are also
-
catered for. Then we have the aliens who are
-
also catered for. The next point is saying that
-
this principle is based on what Jesus said.
-
So the charity tithe is a principle or it is based on a
-
principle that Jesus said in Matthew chapter 25, the verse 31
Matthew 25 chapter mention
-
through to 46, which says that I tell you the truth, whatever you
-
did for one of the lowest of these brothers of mine, you did
-
it to me. So it is a charity things,
-
whatever you are doing to your brother, whatever you are doing
-
to your sister, as we pull things together to cater for
-
them, Bible is saying or Jesus is saying that as you do for
-
somebody who is in need, you are equally doing for me.
-
Hallelujah. So when we look at the tithes in
-
the Old Testament, we are looking at the tithes in the New
-
Testament. So the tithes in the New
-
Testament continues. And then in Matthew 23, verse
-
23, we saw the Pharisees giving tithes for everything that they
-
have worked for. They gave tithes on their spices
-
and everything that God has given unto them.
-
And they thought that giving tithes means that they are doing
-
the right thing. But in Matthew 23 verse 23 says
-
that even though they have given all their tithes, accordingly,
-
as the word of God says, they are not doing something.
-
They are justice and their messes and their faithfulness
-
are not in the right direction. So here it is a lesson that we
-
are supposed to learn. Even though we would say to
-
ourselves we are giving our tithes as we are expected.
-
If we are not doing the other things like the Pharisees did,
-
then our tithes that we are giving has a question mark.
-
We can give our tithes and even overdo it, but if the other
-
things that we are expected to do to love our neighbor as
-
ourselves, to have mercy upon others, to be faithful at our
-
workplaces that will not add zeros and other things to read
-
and we are doing everything as we are expected.
-
Then our tides will be accepted in the House of God.
-
God will accept it in heaven, but as we if you do it like the
-
Pharisees, the Bible is saying that our tights will have a big
-
question mark. So today as we are learning
-
whatever thing we are doing that is not right about our Titan, we
-
are here this morning to remember ourselves that Titan is
-
in the right direction. But the other things that we are
-
expected to do, if we are not doing it, then our Titan has a
-
question mark. Then it will be like the
-
Pharisees. It is my prayer that as we are
-
learning, we will learn and we will do the right things that we
-
are expected to do. So that it will not be like the
-
Pharisees, but it will be people that God Himself will point out
-
and say that indeed, these are the people that I have trust in
-
them, that they will do it and do it well.
-
Hallelujah. Let's look at why some people
-
fail to give tithe in the House of God.
-
The first one we look at is share on gratefulness, Share on
-
gratefulness. Why do we say share on
-
gratefulness? People think that all that they
-
have acquired, all that they have gotten is through their own
-
efforts, is through their own strength, and is through their
-
own ability. But this morning I'm here to
-
tell you that we are just stewards of all that God has
-
given unto us. So people think that because
-
they have worked, they have gotten up and done and they have
-
done all the things by their own strength and they are not seeing
-
God in it as physically as they go out their daily activities,
-
they think that all that they have, they had it on their own
-
ability. So why then do they have to give
-
tithe? So they will not even give
-
tights and they're not even listening for us to explain unto
-
them. So this morning we are telling
-
you that all that you have when you sleep, you know how you
-
sleep. We have holes all over.
-
Our nose is open, our ears, our mouth, some of our when we
-
sleep, we open our mouth, we slow, we will sleep here.
-
When we get up, we are the other side of the bed.
-
How do we sleep? How do we get up?
-
It is all by the grace of God. How do we go on our daily
-
activities, the air that we take in?
-
Do we even pay for? So for a person to say that all
-
that he has is by his own ability, then you, you, you know
-
that this person don't know what he or she is saying, but that is
-
their stand. So by saying that they do not
-
pay the tithes. So we are saying that those of
-
us who do not pay our tithes or who fail to pay our tight
-
things, that all that we have is through our strengths.
-
This morning we are here to remind you that the air that you
-
breathe in, if God takes that air, what are you?
-
If you go and sleep and you don't get up again, all that you
-
have acquired, what is the meaning or what is the essence
-
of it? So sheer ungratefulness is
-
something that we have to take out from our dictionary.
-
Hallelujah. Some people also do not give
-
tithe because they think they are poor.
-
But I'm here to tell you that that the Macedonian Church, the
-
members in the in that church Bible say that they were
-
extremely poor, but they try to give their tithes.
-
How much more you look at the auditorium that we have guarded
-
found all over and check the vessel by a condition.
-
Now Becca said you are poor. Bible is comparing you that you
-
are saying you are poor to the Macedonia church.
-
The members in it Bible use a word that's the members there
-
were extremely poor just say on Matario crown at it.
-
But those people in at that time Bible said they gave their tithe
-
and they did it beyond their ability or they tried that.
-
Whatever they have, they will at least do something to appreciate
-
what God has done for them. So we don't have any rights to
-
say that we are poor. So we will not pay our tithe.
-
So poor or poverty should be out in our dictionary eyes.
-
I said we should take share on gratefulness out of our
-
dictionary. So those people who have putting
-
these things in their mind that they are poor.
-
At the end of the month, Sikakra in Arminga may see me, Laura
-
Fair may see me, Water may light Bill the Akanukra Isha
-
Miyarukra, how can I take care of myself at the hospital?
-
We are saying that test God in this and see that if God will
-
not protect us, Hallelujah. People as people have done it,
-
people have tested it and people have testimonies over it.
-
So this morning, don't say that you are poor, don't say that all
-
that you have is for you alone, but give all that we have unto
-
God and He will give it back unto you.
-
Hallelujah. Why the need to pay tithe?
-
Why at all do we have to pay tithe?
-
We are saying that the tithe that we pay is the unbiblical
-
code of the church or it is the lifeline of the church.
-
Why are we saying that it is the lifeline of the church?
-
Because the church rely on these monies that we pay.
-
So the church buildings will get there.
-
Everything that we do in the church from the from the clergy
-
down, we do it with the tithes that we pay.
-
So we are saying that the tithes that we pay is the lifeline of
-
the church. Without the tithes, there will
-
be no church. The church will eventually die.
-
So it's like your heart that is pumping blood to make sure that
-
you are alive. If your heart stops pumping the
-
blood, it means that your body will be dead.
-
So the tithe is the heartbeat of our church.
-
So this morning we are encouraging ourselves that the
-
reason why we have to pay the tithe is to make sure that the
-
church is living on. Our forefathers left the church
-
for us and we have to continue. And how do we continue?
-
By paying our tithe so that the church will continue.
-
We are also saying that that we are supposed to pay tithe
-
because we are stewards of God's possession.
-
Everything Bible say that God created everything and handed it
-
over to man at the point that man gave names to all that God
-
has created. What a wonderful God that we
-
said He created His own things and gave it to man to name them.
-
And up to now what man did is what we are still doing.
-
So because we are stewards of all that God has given unto us,
-
there is a need for us to pay tithe.
-
The next point is that it is a command and then a depth that we
-
own. I've already touched on it.
-
We own gold, so we have to pay tithe on it.
-
The next one is that we brought nothing into this world and we
-
will take nothing. We are just stewards At the end
-
of the day. When your time is up for God to
-
take you and bring somebody to come and continue with whatever
-
He has given unto you to hold on onto, you will go without all
-
those things. As I said earlier on, you have
-
your cars, you have your buildings, you have everything
-
to your disposal, but when your time is up for you to be called,
-
you will go as the way you came. So why don't we give what God
-
has given unto us back unto Him to show appreciation?
-
Hallelujah. Now let's look at some
-
consequences of paying and not paying our tithes.
-
What are the positive and then the negative things that we will
-
gain or it will come unto us when we pay or we do not pay our
-
tithes. We will first look at the
-
negative aspects of not paying our tithes.
-
I hope you are taking notes so that at the end of the day, if
-
you have any question you ask and then it will be clarified.
-
So one negative thing that you gain for not paying our tithes
-
is that God will you attract poverty.
-
Say the point is that you will attract poverty and kiss into
-
your life. So if you are not paying tithes,
-
you will attract poverty and case into your life.
-
Malachi 93 says that you are under case the whole nation of
-
you because you are robbing me. Oh, when we rob God, God is
-
saying that he's going to case us.
-
Can we stand the case of God? Babu is saying that it will
-
continue from the nations that you are in.
-
So it means that everything, your children, your children's
-
children, all of them, this case and this poverty will be unto
-
them. Can we stand the case of God?
-
There's no way we'll be able to stand the case of God.
-
So we are urging ourselves this morning that we ought to pay our
-
tithe and pay it well. So that will not attract
-
poverty, will not attract case unto ourselves.
-
Hallelujah. One negative thing is that God's
-
protection will be withdrawn from us.
-
Bible say that when we pay our tithes we are being protected.
-
So that's the one who steals will not come and steal from us.
-
So Malaka 3, the verse #11 says that I will protect or I will
-
prevent pets from devouring your crops, and the vine in your
-
field will not cast their fruits, says the Lord Almighty.
-
So this is what God is saying, that when you pay your tithe He
-
will prevent pets from devouring your crops.
-
Now I believe that this one was written in the olden days whilst
-
the Israelites were farming. So we have things or animals or
-
insects that comes onto their farm to destroy their crops.
-
So God was telling them that when they pay their tithe is
-
going to protect them, not their families alone, is going to
-
protect their jobs, their farms and their crops.
-
And no other pets will be able to go and destroy their tents.
-
In this, our dispensation, we are not farming, but we have our
-
individual jobs there. We are going bankers.
-
We are teachers, drivers, police, security personnels are
-
here. We go to work.
-
Some of us use guns and other things.
-
We see what's happening in the Internet in Ghana while people
-
are being shot, our security agents, our security workers are
-
being shot and other things. Teachers are being beaten to
-
death. All other things are happening
-
to us, but God is saying that when you pay your tithe, it's
-
going to protect you. And I believe that our God who
-
swears are ye and Amen will do that when we do it.
-
But if we fail to do it, which is a negative aspect, is going
-
to redraw all this protection. And when God withdraws his
-
protection, then what is left for us?
-
You will be like a broom that somebody can take a broomstick
-
and break it and then you are there and then you are out.
-
It is my prayer that this morning this negative aspect
-
that we are talking about will not happen to us, but rather the
-
benefits or the positive aspects will happen on to us.
-
Hallelujah. Let's look at some benefits that
-
has been given to us to talk about.
-
If we give tight, these are the benefits that we are going to
-
get. Divine blessings in one
-
business. So God is saying that He's going
-
to bless us abundantly. What he's saying is going to
-
bless us abundantly, so he will bless us.
-
Divine blessing in good health is also part of it is going to
-
protect us and give us security. It's also part opportunities and
-
resources for wealth creation. God will also give unto us, will
-
also work under open heavens, which means that the heavens
-
will be open unto us. And then we'll get direct
-
contact unto God. And as we pray, we'll give unto
-
us. Let's look at some management
-
and disbursement of our tights. So as we already said, we give
-
tights in our local assemblies where we worship.
-
So tight is given to us in our local assembly where we worship.
-
After we have given these tights, we collect these tights
-
and then we take 10% out of it which is called the LDF, which
-
is called the local Development Fund, which is used to run the
-
church. But before these things are
-
done, we also take our allowable deduction which is electricity
-
and rent. If it is applicable, we take it
-
out of it before we take our LDF which is the local Development
-
Fund. After that, all locals will take
-
the rest of their monies to the district level.
-
The district level to AS our leaders has brought will also
-
take the allowable deduction which is rent.
-
If they are renting a mission house, they also take their rent
-
from it. They also take electricity and
-
other things. Then they also forward the rest
-
to the area. Then the area will also do the
-
same, take the allowable. Then they also take their 10%
-
which is the the area Development Fund and push the
-
rest to the headquarters where the headquarters pull all these
-
tights from all areas and then they use it for the work of the
-
church. Some of the things that they use
-
our tights for at the area level is to support the university
-
that we have created because they give people scholarship.
-
They also support our hospitals and clinics that has been built
-
by the church. They also support our schools.
-
That is the basic and then the Senior High schools.
-
They also use some of the money to pay the clergy of the church.
-
They also cater for the new ministers that are being trained
-
at BCC. They also support church
-
building as I believe that this church was supported by the
-
headquarters. So when our tides go there, they
-
bring it down to us, to people who need church buildings.
-
When new districts are created, they also support by giving them
-
money and other things that are all coming from our tides and
-
offering. They also support it by building
-
CBCB. When we go to the missions
-
field, they have a church called the CBCB that they built for
-
them a very small deuterium to enable members there to also
-
worship. They also contribute, give money
-
to that aspect. So in conclusion, we are saying
-
that tithes that we give has benefits and we are praying that
-
we will not go to the negative aspect as I've already said but
-
we will be try much possible to give our tithes and give it to
-
all. So that all benefits that has
-
been said in the Bible, you and I will benefit it.
-
Let us not stop giving tithe as I said because tithe is the
-
lifeline of our church and we can see all that we are doing in
-
the church, the development, the support of our students, our
-
hospitals, our schools. Even now we are going into
-
prisons and we are building churches in the yards of prison.
-
We are building even prison yard for members who have been
-
convicted or people who have been convicted so that they go
-
and have training so that when they come out they will their
-
lives will change. This morning it is my prayer
-
that is you have made-up your mind not to pay tithe again.
-
This small teachings that we have done, you will change up
-
your mind and begin to pay tithe, not to pay it because of
-
what we have or what the church is doing, but we'll pay it so
-
that you and I will gain blessing unto our Lord.
-
I pray that God himself will reveal himself unto you and
-
explain it deeply so that you understand it well and do as he
-
has ordered us to do. May God bless us all.
-
Amen. Oh, you are clapping.
-
You are clapping unto Jesus. What do we tell our elder?
-
God bless you, let's add another one, God bless you.
-
And the final one, God bless you.
-
Right, so the floor is open for comments, questions and
-
contributions. Feel free come up here and ask
-
your question. If you have any comments to make
-
you can do that. Carriage lead.
-
Who's taking it first? Super.
-
Quick one, I just need a bit of explanation where there are
-
three types of tides. He mentioned the Levitical
-
festival, then the charity. I think I understood the 1st and
-
the last but the festival tides I didn't really get the
-
understanding that much so I want further explanation.
-
Thank you. Any other question?
-
Any other question? Any other question set?
-
I see a question running through your mind.
-
Come and see Any other question. Question, comments,
-
contributions. Oh, just one.
-
So we are saying that the festival Titan is for is for all
-
of us is a tight that we have to partake in yearly, is a yearly
-
activity, as I already said. So this tight God commanded the
-
Israelites that they should pull all these tithes, all these
-
resources at a particular location.
-
So it is given to support those who don't have.
-
So if it is pulled at a particular place, like tension
-
here, we are pulling all our tithes into this church at the
-
end of that particular year. When we pull it, we give it out
-
as donations. So the Levites who are working
-
in the House of God will receive their portion.
-
Then we will go round and look at people in the church or as
-
Israelites. We support them because it's
-
like a festival, something that we are doing every year.
-
We go out to support people who are in need, whether they are in
-
the House of God or they are not in the House of God.
-
So the explanation is saying that it is done in their
-
community. So the community that God has
-
asked them to pull all these resources in, they go around,
-
but I believe that before God will ask them to even pull all
-
their resources in a particular location, then there are people
-
there who are in need. So after they have done that, I
-
believe that there will be a direction on how to share all
-
these things to the widow, to the fatherless, to those who are
-
begging by the roadside at that particular community.
-
Not only for those who bring their tithe, but those who bring
-
their tights will also have their share.
-
So that particular tight is like a ritual, A yearly activity.
-
That is why it has been named a festival Titan.
-
So at the end of every year, we believe that we go out as the
-
Church of Pentecost do. At a point in time, they go to
-
prisons and then we pull all our resources together, we go to
-
prisons and then we give to those who are in need.
-
We are still doing it. We are still doing it, but it is
-
not like the olden days that all Israelites are to pull at one
-
particular place and do. But as the church we also pull
-
our resources as the need arises and then we go out there to
-
support the rest. But at the time of the
-
Israelites it is a must, something that every year we do
-
it, but as at now, we do it as the need arises.
-
Hallelujah. So I with my understanding, I
-
think we are talking about a yearly offering and I want to
-
believe that the Easter we, we, we organize the Easter yearly.
-
So I want you to look at the offering that we normally offer
-
during Easter. For me, I think that is my mind,
-
maybe I think that the Easter offering is a yellow one, that
-
one can be related to the festival one or maybe the
-
Christmas conventions. These are yearly programs, so
-
maybe we can relate those ones just like the festival tight.
-
That is my understanding. Let's read the Scripture
-
Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 22 to 27.
-
I think it will also help us. Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 22
-
to 27. Be sure to set aside a tenth of
-
all that your fields produce each year.
-
As the speaker said, during those days they were mainly
-
farmers buying our dispensation. We have different professions,
-
so we should consider that. And so be sure to set aside a
-
tenth of all that your field produce each year.
-
It's the tides of your grain, new wine and oil, and the first
-
born of your heads and flocks in the presence of the Lord your
-
God, at the place He will choose as a dwelling for his name.
-
And in our dispensation, that is the church, a place he will
-
choose as a dwelling for his name.
-
So that you may learn to Revere the Lord your God always.
-
But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the
-
Lord your God and cannot carry your tithes because the place
-
where the Lord will choose to put His name is so far away
-
then. And you see, during those days
-
the only place you could offer is Jerusalem.
-
So wherever you are, you have to move to Jerusalem to go and
-
offer. So please take note of it verse
-
25 then exchange your tithe for silver and take the silver with
-
you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose.
-
And so why change or exchange your tithe for silver for
-
silver? Because maybe before you leave
-
one place to Jerusalem, by the time you get there your produce
-
might have rotten. I hope you understand.
-
So if you should exchange it into silver, at least you can
-
maintain it and then present it. Verse 26 Use the silver to buy
-
whatever you like, cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented
-
drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household
-
shall each day in the presence of the Lord your God and
-
rejoice. And do not neglect the Levites
-
living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance
-
of their own. 28 verse 28. At the end of every three years,
-
bring all the tights of that year's produce.
-
And OK, I think we are interested in up to 27.
-
So from the question I'd rather ask this tithe.
-
This tithe was to be taken every year to be eating with the
-
person's household at a specifically designated place
-
that is Jerusalem before the Lord.
-
If such designated place was far away, then it could be sold and
-
the money used to buy whatever they like for the enjoyment of
-
the house in the presence of the Lord.
-
And so from this explanation, how do you understand it?
-
Now I'll complete it. But from this explanation, what
-
did you, what are you deducing from it and how do you
-
understand it? And from the scripture we have
-
read, and taking the current church into consideration, how
-
do you understand it? It's not the address to him, but
-
to all of us. How do you understand it?
-
Yes. All right, so from the scripture
-
then the readings think it is obvious.
-
So the festival tides, it's more like a festival each year.
-
And the purpose of this is the whole year you bring whatever
-
you end 110th of it, the purpose is to celebrate in the presence
-
of the Lord with your family, just like how the reading said.
-
So it is a festival each year to be celebrated in the presence of
-
the Lord with your family. That's my that's what I got from
-
the reading. With your family, right?
-
And also with others, not only your family, because it is a
-
household, something that we are doing.
-
So in your household maybe you know, we know that in the olden
-
days they live in a compound house, very huge houses.
-
So I believe that. So as the end of the day, as we
-
have food, all our tides and we are celebrating not only our
-
household but people who are around, we can also call people
-
who are around so that we all celebrate because it is a
-
festival thing that we are doing.
-
I mean. And so from this morning's
-
lessons, you could see that we have other types that we have
-
not been talking about or we don't know much about.
-
But from what we just read and from what our elder said, when
-
did we organize our love fest? Last two weeks.
-
Last two weeks we had our love fest.
-
Where did we organize it? Where did we organize it in the
-
church? Where did we get the resource
-
from? And so from this explanation,
-
what it means is that God is expecting and one keyword that
-
came out from the Scripture and the definition, he said that the
-
money used to buy whatever they like for the enjoyment of the
-
household in the presence of the Lord.
-
Hello. So when we come to the House of
-
the Lord is not only Shrababa. Shrababa, we have to find time
-
and enjoy ourselves in the presence of the Lord.
-
And if we want to do it and do it well, then we have to do it
-
well. What we did the other time, it
-
is not it is not what I hope you understand.
-
And the reason why it is like that is because because you
-
don't have the understanding and maybe I don't have the
-
understanding the types that I was to supposed to bring for
-
this purpose, I didn't bring it. I hope you understand.
-
So please let's take note of it. So what it also means is that
-
you see from the presentation our elder gave, he made mention
-
about 3 different types, but we are talking about the festive 1.
-
The festive one. The purpose is that we will come
-
to the presence of God as a family or you come in the
-
presence of God as a family. We all come together and then
-
enjoy, have an enjoyment in the presence of God.
-
I mean, I hope it's clear. Have you responded to that
-
question? Yeah.
-
Any other question? Any other question?
-
OK, If there is no question, I will ask you, why don't you
-
tight? Yes, Why don't you tight,
-
please? Yes, since you don't have any
-
question, I'm asking why don't you tight.
-
If I say why don't you tight, We have spoken about three types of
-
tights, the charity, we have spoken about the Festive 1 and
-
we have also spoken about the Levitical tights.
-
So why don't you tights, I hope that question is clear is that.
-
Is it personal or general? It's a general.
-
If you want to personalize, it's fine.
-
If you want to generalize, it's fine.
-
OK. Praise the Lord.
-
So for me, I the reason why I don't tight for the festival.
-
I didn't know about the festival tights.
-
So that was that's why I don't tight for that one.
-
But then since I've lent it today, I'll make sure that I, I,
-
I put in the efforts to give my tights on that one.
-
Thank you. Hello.
-
OK, I was a bit sceptical about coming out to speak because I
-
don't know if it's personal or but you said we can, it's a
-
contribution. So I think I want to start by
-
saying as a church, maybe we have to start looking at the way
-
we teach about Titan because the times have changed.
-
Why am I saying so? I might have a difference or I
-
was born into the Christian religion even though I didn't
-
start from Pentacles. I started as a Christian before
-
I joined Pentecost. And I've learned a lot about
-
Titan from the church and then from my own research.
-
But what of others who joined us and all they hear is we are
-
Titan because we want to take care of our pastor or most
-
people think that we tight because the Titan is used to
-
take care of pastors or as the Bible says the Levites.
-
And in this dispensation, can you point me to the Levites in
-
the church? If I don't know anybody who
-
comes from that line, why am I giving them giving money to for
-
that person to be taken care of? I don't know if you are getting
-
me because I believe that the Levites are purposely or
-
basically living in Israel and in Ghana.
-
We don't have their lineage here.
-
I don't know if you're getting me.
-
So that is why the question, why don't you tight?
-
That's my understanding and I also want to put it out as in
-
Titan comes from a certain background.
-
What does God want from us? He wants us to give.
-
Titan is a form of giving and I personally, yes.
-
Let me make it clear, I don't believe in Titan.
-
I believe in giving. I pay my tithe though, but I
-
don't say I'm Titan, I'm giving to God.
-
Why am I giving to God? Because he gave his only
-
begotten son for me. He didn't give 10%, He gave all.
-
So when I'm giving to God, I must give my all to God.
-
Even though we are teaching about Titan, we must teach the
-
people to understand why they give to God and why they must
-
give their all. I don't know if you are getting
-
me but this is my understanding. So I think the teaching or how
-
we go about Titan must be crafted in a certain way.
-
To carry this message is a form of giving and when you are
-
given, give your all. I don't believe in giving my 10%
-
to God, I believe in giving my all to God.
-
Amen. Titan in the New Testament times
-
Titan in the New Testament times Giving of tithes and other
-
offerings was in existence before, during, and after the
-
New Testament times. During the Persian period, the
-
Jews were obligated to support the Temple and its priests and
-
Levites by contributing the first fruits of the earth and
-
trees, the first born of animals and humans to be redeemed, a
-
dough offering wine and oil, and it can be found in Nehemiah
-
chapter 10, verse 32 to 39. Additionally, they were expected
-
to pay imperial tributes. During the Second Temple period,
-
representatives of the priests and Levites collected tithes as
-
a second set of taxes for the temple and priesthood.
-
By the time of Malachi, the prophets, because the Jews had
-
come under Roman colonization and were paying taxes to them,
-
the economy had become so bad that it was difficult for some
-
of them to give tithes. Those who were giving tithes at
-
that time were only giving partially.
-
The Lord considered the partial giving of tithes and offerings
-
as robbery. He therefore asked them to bring
-
the whole tithes or the tithes or the full tithes into the
-
storehouse into his storehouse. It can be found in Malachi
-
chapter 3, verse 6 to 12. The emphasis is mine, mine.
-
This is what sometimes happen to some contemporary Christians.
-
They think that by giving some monies as tight, they have
-
fulfilled the requirements of the Lord.
-
The hard fact is this, as far as tithing is concerned, it has to
-
be given in full and not partially.
-
This shows that the Lord demands our total commitment and
-
obedience to Him. The Pharisees however did their
-
best to tight on even the mini test items such as garden herbs
-
and spices such as mint, deal and coming.
-
It can be found in Matthew chapter 23 verse 23 and Luke
-
Chapter 11 verse 42. Jesus spoke one Pharisee.
-
Jesus spoke about 1 Pharisee who was boasting that he gave tides
-
of all he had. That is Luke chapter 18 verse
-
12. Please project Luke chapter 18
-
verse 12 the Pharisees even thought that everything that is
-
eating and everything that grows out of the earth was to be tight
-
on he said that if Luke 18 verse 12 I fast twice a week and I
-
give 10th of all I get. Let me continue here.
-
The Pharisees even thought that everything that is eating and
-
everything that grows out of the earth was to be tight on.
-
Meanwhile, they were not faithful or merciful and also
-
administered injustice. Jesus sought to correct them
-
when He said Woe to you, teachers of the law and
-
Pharisees, you hypocrites. You give a term of your spices,
-
mint deal, and cumin, but you have neglected the more
-
important matters of the law, justice, mercy, and
-
faithfulness. That is Matthew 2323.
-
You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the
-
former. Now when we say you should have
-
practiced the latter without neglecting the former, what does
-
it mean? Yes, the Scripture is the word
-
to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
-
You give a term of your spices, mint, dill and cumin, but you
-
have neglected the more important matters of the law,
-
justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
-
You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the
-
former. What does it mean?
-
Pay what Jesus said? Yes.
-
Yeah, please give him the mic. OK, he says.
-
You give a 10s of your spices. That's that's the you should
-
have practiced the latter without neglecting the former.
-
So the latter is them neglecting important matters.
-
So they should have given the tent of their spices and mint,
-
Dylan or and not also neglect giving justice, mercy and
-
faithfulness to others. So what it means is that they
-
attach so much importance to tighten, neglecting
-
faithfulness, neglecting mercy, neglecting justice, and Jesus is
-
telling them that all are very, very important.
-
Even in our dispensation. Some people think that when you
-
tight it is enough, you can live your life anyhow.
-
And so Jesus is drawing the attention of the Pharisees that
-
the way they attach importance to Titan, they should attach
-
importance to living a righteous and a holy life.
-
It can be seen here that Jesus did not condemn or nullify the
-
giving of tithes. He rather thought that it was
-
not enough for a person to give tithes when that person was not
-
just merciful or faithful. In his view, givers of tithes
-
should also impartially administer justice, be involved
-
in acts of mercy, and be faithful in all their activities
-
to please the Lord. A typical example.
-
You carry your tithes and then you come and pay or you do your
-
very possible best and you pay your tithe faithfully at every
-
given time. And then you have money, have
-
resources. Your neighbor don't have what to
-
eat. Your neighbor is seriously sick
-
and he's dying, but you are no merciful towards your neighbor.
-
Your neighbor don't even have what to weigh, but you prefer to
-
come and pay your tight faithfully and then your
-
neighbor who is next to you, who is dying, who has not got what
-
to eat. You can support him.
-
And so we dream the Ding Ding. You know, there are some people
-
who have, but they are very, they are very stingy.
-
And so Jesus is saying that yes, we should pay our tithes, but we
-
should be merciful. Yes, we should pay our time, but
-
we should be faithful. Yes, we should pay our time, but
-
we should we should be people who who are just how we say
-
someone is just what does it mean?
-
He mentioned justice. Why we say someone is just?
-
What does it mean? Yes.
-
Oh, are you here? Oh, Please wait.
-
You are not the only wait. You are not the only person.
-
Please set help us. Why we say 1 is just?
-
What does it mean? Does being honest?
-
Honest. Yes.
-
Any other person? Yes.
-
I also think the person is on pain CCA the person is If it is
-
this, it is there's. No cheating, no cheating.
-
Yes, yes, Waka waka with you. You speak into the mic, so I
-
will hear your voice. OK, so I wanted to say that the
-
person is fair. He.
-
Is fair, he. Was saying on pace CCA.
-
On your bias, yes, there's one hand at the back there.
-
The person stands for what is right.
-
The person stands for what is right.
-
God bless you all. Do you know that in our
-
dispensation and even in in the church now who?
-
Yeah. OK, so giving to someone what
-
they deserve. What he deserves yeah.
-
OK, God bless you. Do you know that in our church
-
now, there are some people who have their mindset that when you
-
have money, you'll be ordained as an officer.
-
And there are some people also have their mindsets that when
-
you have money and you are ordained as an officer, you can
-
live your life anyhow. And we have some people who have
-
managed to enter the they are rich.
-
They, they, they, they have money.
-
They have become officers. Some are not officers.
-
They are members. They live their life anyhow.
-
Some of them are womanizing, some of them are drinking, and
-
some of the members and some of the officers who know, but they
-
are afraid to talk about it. Hello.
-
Yeah. Yeah, we can.
-
Have you Have you seen some before?
-
No. Are you sure?
-
And even at times when we talk about it, when we talk about it,
-
and at times soon when we talk about one, we are afraid to talk
-
about it. And there are times when you
-
manage to talk about it and it gets to a point some people want
-
to. I hope you understand.
-
So we are talking about justice. What is not good for coffee is
-
not good for could you? I'm saying it because we, the
-
members, we are the same people who talk about it all the time.
-
How come somebody issue will come and then within the
-
shortest possible time we are finished talking about it and
-
the decision is taken and then another person issue, can we
-
talk about it and talk about it and talk about it again?
-
Maybe it's the same issue. One has money, one don't have
-
money, one supports the church so much that the church don't
-
want to lose him. If we lose him, the church is
-
the financial status of the church will just come down.
-
And so they presided. I don't want to lose him, so
-
they presided. I will try and then, oh, you be
-
patient. Oh you let's do it this way and
-
another person who the Bible sees and then straight.
-
I'm not saying I'm being that or someone is being that, but the
-
point is that we should be just Amen.
-
The problem it can be seen that Jesus did not know.
-
The problem with the Pharisees was that.
-
They thought that by Titan they were better acceptable to the
-
Lord, who would probably overlook all other things they
-
did, the Pharisees began. The Pharisees began to think
-
that giving tithe was a substitute for the moral law of
-
justice, mess, and faith. Jesus therefore had to correct
-
their evil thoughts and belief. For the Pharisees, full tithing
-
was a mark of loyalty to God, but Jesus considered their
-
hypocritical motive behind it. One of the main New Testament
-
teachings is that Christians must offer their bodies as
-
living sacrifices to God. Romans 12/1.
-
This implies that as they offer their bodies to the Lord, the
-
giving of their substance to the Lord is also included.
-
Titan was practiced during the times of the early Church
-
Fathers, such as Iranians who lived between 1:30 and 200280,
-
wrote that if the Jews regularly paid tithes, the Christians who
-
were serving the Lord in a new spiritual dispensation should
-
save him with all that they had because they had a hoop of
-
greater things. With this understanding, the
-
giving of 10% tight is basic. There are some Christians who
-
have chosen to give more than 10 of their income to the Lord as
-
tight. Amen.
-
Amen. I hope it's clear and so please
-
the New Testament believer. At times some people say Jesus
-
did not talk about tights because Jesus did not mention
-
the word tights. But from what we read, you could
-
see that Jesus brought clarity to it.
-
And Jesus also made us to understand that tights, tights
-
is very important and we shouldn't replace tights with
-
the moral laws. And then when I was speaking, he
-
talked about the Levites. Someone would say in our
-
dispensation, who is the Levites?
-
And then he made us to understand that when God was
-
distributing the inheritance to the people of Israel for the
-
Levites, they didn't have any shame.
-
And God commanded that the other, the other, the other
-
persons should work and then support or bring their tithes to
-
the House of God. And that was going to be the
-
source of income for the Levites.
-
So it is scriptural in our dispensation.
-
And because we are in the Church of Pentecost, I can talk about
-
the Church of Pentecost because every church and its
-
administration, there are some churches, when you pay the
-
tithe, it goes to the pastor. And so there are some people who
-
think that all the tithes we pay in the Church of Pentacles goes
-
to the district past. No, that is not a situation in
-
our church. In our church, why do you pay
-
your tithes? 1 You must ensure that you pay
-
your tithes in your local church.
-
The reason why you pay your tithes in your local church is
-
because that is your, your spiritual home.
-
That is where you are fed spiritually and so you own
-
allegiance to that local church. Hello, at times someone, maybe
-
you came from Kumasi and then now you are living in Accra, you
-
are working in Accra and then maybe you have brought your
-
transfer card or you know that you are not going back to
-
Kumasi. Maybe you came from your
-
hometown to a different location.
-
You are attending church at a different location, but you are
-
not paying your tithe today. You pay your tithes at where you
-
are coming from. Meanwhile you are being fed in a
-
different local church. If you do that, it is totally
-
wrong. Where your name is recorded and
-
registered, where you are fed spiritually, that is where you
-
must be your tithes. Amen.
-
So if you are here and you are doing like that, please take
-
notes and do the right thing. And in our church, when a pastor
-
is when a pastor is what? When a pastor is called into the
-
full time ministry, I was being careful of the way to choose and
-
so I needed to consult whatever a pastor is called into the full
-
time. Do not forget the pastor is
-
called from among the people as you are seated there.
-
When we see the call of God upon you, the presiding elder and the
-
presbytery will recommend you to the districts and the district
-
pastor also will confirm the calling and they will also
-
recommend you to the area. And when the area also confirms,
-
the area will recommend you to the national.
-
And when you go to the National and you pass the interview, then
-
the call upon you is confirmed. Then you become a full time
-
minister of the church. Do not forget that some of these
-
people, in fact all the people who are cold, they are some are
-
well to do us. They are all working.
-
We don't just we don't just Amen.
-
But the point is that they are all well to do.
-
There are some who are doctors, there are some who are lawyers.
-
There are some who are they are all professionals.
-
Should they do their normal work, they will be earning so
-
much, but when they receive the call and they respond to the
-
call in the Church of Pentecost, you have to stop everything you
-
are doing. That is why we have full time
-
ministers. They are full time.
-
You don't do any other work apart from the ministerial work.
-
It is of late that the Church of Pentecost has introduced and is
-
accepting 10th ministers. The 10th ministers, they are
-
professionals who do other works, yet they are still and it
-
is now coming. But I'm talking about the full
-
time. Majority of our ministers are
-
full time ministers. So what it means is that when
-
they are cold and they stop whatever work they are doing and
-
they are doing them in a serial work, how are they going to
-
survive? How are they going to feed their
-
wives and their children? Do not forget that they are
-
family men. And so from what you read the
-
Levites, the Bible is saying that the tights that was brought
-
into the temple, that is what they depended on.
-
So in the Church of Pentecost, when you come and pay your
-
tithes, maybe let me read it for clarity sake.
-
Then we'll bring it to a close. Management and disbursement of
-
tithes. In the Church of Pentecost, the
-
Bible teaches bring the whole tithes into the storehouse that
-
there may be food in my house. Because of the different types
-
of administration being run by the churches, every church
-
determines its storehouse in the Church of Pentecost.
-
Tides should be given in a person's local assembly because
-
that is where they get their spiritual guidance, care,
-
feeding, teaching. From there it is sent through
-
the districts and the area to the headquarters.
-
So this place, let me also be quick to add, that's the local
-
assembly. That is where the member get his
-
spiritual guidance, care feeding and the teaching.
-
The member get his spiritual guidance.
-
There are some members, they are in the church but they don't
-
have any spiritual guidance because they are refusing to be
-
good members. Hello.
-
Hello. I am trying to draw your
-
attention. I'm not yet to judge or
-
whatever, but as a member in the local assembly, you should have
-
spiritual guidance. How can you have spiritual
-
guidance when the leaders even don't know your name?
-
The leaders don't know your name.
-
How can you get care when the leaders even don't know your
-
name? You don't even come to church.
-
And how can you be fed and be taught?
-
So let's all think about it. This means that the Church of
-
Pentecost operates a centralized system of financial
-
administration. This constitutes the where the
-
storehouse of the Church of Pentecost in the Church of
-
Pentecost. They are allowable deductions
-
that may be taken from the tights.
-
In the Church of Pentecost there are allowable deductions that
-
may be taken from the tights. These include church rents where
-
applicable. So, for example, if we are
-
worshipping in a place that we are renting, at the end of the
-
month, whatever tight we get, it is allowed for us to pay from
-
that tights and then our electricity bill and water bill
-
as well as electricity and water bills at the local church level.
-
After that, after deducting all the allowable deduction, after
-
that 10% of the remaining money is taken at the local assembly
-
level as a local Development Fund for local administration.
-
So let's say at the end of the month, all the tides we got from
-
the church is 2000 Ghana CD. If we are renting a place, we
-
pay our rent from it, we pay our lights and our water bill from
-
that 2000. After taking that money out, the
-
remaining money, the local assembly deducts 10%.
-
So let's say after all these deductions is left with 1500,
-
the 1500, the local assembly would deduct 10% from it, which
-
is 150 CD. Is that correct?
-
10% of 1005 is 150 CD. So when the local takes that 150
-
CD from the 1005, it will be left with 1350.
-
That 1350 will be paid to the into the district account and so
-
the local assembly will depend on that 150 CD for local
-
developments. So what it means is that our use
-
the city, whatever we need to do in the local, whether we are
-
doing construction, we are the running of the local we want to.
-
So in our case, for instance, at the end of every month when we
-
do deductions of our lights and our tights, and then we get our
-
10%, the 10%, some of the things we buy is what water.
-
And what if I say what are the drinking water, The drinking
-
water? We buy cups, we buy tissue.
-
I mean we pay. We pay for the rubbish and the
-
wastes and so all those expenses are made from that 10% no matter
-
the amount whether it will reach or it will not reach your
-
expenses. That is the policy I mean.
-
And so while we send 1350 to the districts, that district also,
-
if the district is paying water bill, light bill, they pay from
-
that money 1350. So let's say they also pay 150
-
from US expenses from the money forwarded to them.
-
If they pay 150, it will be left with how much 1002.
-
And then out of 1002, the district is supposed to also
-
maintain 10% as the district Development Fund. 10% of 1002 is
-
how much 120 CD. So you could see that the local
-
assembly, the local assembly had 150 CD to run the affairs of the
-
local and the district had 120 CD.
-
The same way the district is to depend on that 120 CD for the
-
running of the district affairs. When it comes to running of the
-
district affairs, maybe there is a program that the district must
-
attend in the name of the district.
-
The district must make expenses from lose, lose money.
-
And so the point is that at times, depending on the types we
-
get, and even in our case, at times, the local Development
-
Fund and industry Development Fund is not enough to cater for
-
our expenses, our men. The reason why I'm taking my
-
time to explain this is at times we have the notion that the
-
local or the district has a lot of money in its accounts sitting
-
there. But let me continue.
-
So after the district has done its deductions, these include
-
church rents where applicable as well as electricity and water
-
bills at the local assembly. After that 10% of the remaining
-
amount is taken at the local assembly.
-
The remaining amount is sent to the district office by all
-
assemblies constituting the districts.
-
So here also let me explain. Assuming our district we have
-
about in our case, let's say we have two local assemblies.
-
So English will bring its the Economist, after the deductions
-
they will forward or pay their tights to the district.
-
The local people will be you bring it together, you do your
-
deductions and then the district will also forward the rest to
-
the area. At the district level, the
-
mission house rents where applicable as well as mission
-
house water and electricity bills are deducted. 10% of the
-
remaining amount is taken for administration and district
-
level. This is referred as District
-
Development Fund. From the district office, the
-
remaining amount is sent to the area. 10% of all types received
-
from the district constituting the area are taken at the area
-
level. This is known as the area
-
Development Fund. Then take note, the area gives
-
support and scholarship to needy students.
-
So when the money leaves local to district and then from
-
district to area, from different districts, when it gets to the
-
area, the area gives support and scholarship to the needy
-
students. Currently, I know that tension.
-
What area? Our area, we are sponsoring
-
almost 300 students at the Pentecost University College.
-
Almost it's between 2:52 fifty plus.
-
That's why I said almost 300 students at the Pentecost
-
University College. But the area is not making noise
-
about it. Amen.
-
And some of our members in this church are beneficiaries of it.
-
So the point is if we don't pay the tights, how can this be
-
done? And so you could see that the
-
tights, you are paying the tights I'm paying.
-
Even though it's doing the work of God, it is also being a
-
blessing to other people. But the head context directive,
-
10% of the ADF that is area Development Fund for every area
-
is used to support church administration and ongoing
-
church building and mission house projects within the area.
-
So when the area also get the the tights, they use 10% to
-
support the works of the area, the area administration, maybe
-
one district is building it's temple, just as when we were
-
building our temple, the area came to support us.
-
Should it be dependent on only us to build this Chapel?
-
It should have taken us more than 20 years.
-
Hello. And you go to some places, some
-
areas they start building a Chapel.
-
They don't finish five years, 10 years every year.
-
They keep on raising funds building, building, building and
-
the dolphin. But in our case when the ties
-
from all the district goes and they support the district, that
-
is how come we have our building like this.
-
I mean another 10% of the title received at the area office from
-
the district is taking us Accelerated Infrastructural
-
Development Fund. AIDF to support ongoing church
-
building and mission house projects in the area.
-
The remaining amount is sent to the headquarters into the
-
Central fund from the Central fund.
-
At the headquarters, the salaries of full time ministers
-
and non ministerial staff are paid every month.
-
Every month the headquarters releases grants to the areas to
-
support the construction of mission houses and church
-
buildings. Every month the headquarters
-
releases another grant called CBC.
-
As Elder spoke about, the headquarters also gives support
-
in the form of scholarship to the needy students.
-
The headquarters is responsible for the training expenses of new
-
ministerial students currently at the Pentecost University
-
College. The church is responsible for
-
their feeding, accommodation and other expenses of the students.
-
Because no student is made to pay anything, the headquarters
-
supports newly created districts to acquire mission houses for
-
their ministers as well as basic evangelism equipment.
-
The headquarters is responsible for transporting all transferred
-
ministers to their new stations. The headquarters financially
-
support the Pentecost University College, the Pentecost
-
Hospitals, clinics and Basic Schools, Senior High schools,
-
among others. The headquarters has been
-
financing the construction of police stations as well as
-
drilling boreholes for deprived communities.
-
The headquarters is responsible for the purchase of vehicles for
-
most area heads. The headquarters has been
-
financing the construction of church buildings for pencil
-
groups and the campuses of the tertiary institutions.
-
Similarly, in addition to supporting the travelling
-
secretaries in constructing church buildings, the
-
headquarters has been providing financial support for the
-
construction of the church buildings and mission houses at
-
the various military barracks. The headquarters runs its
-
administrative expenses and uses part of the tight to expand the
-
church work across the country. It is a rule in the Church of
-
Pentecost that to engender greater transparency and
-
accountability, money counters should be changed every month.
-
Tights must be counted and recorded in the presence of
-
other persons. Tithes should not be used for
-
giving loans to church members. Tithes should not be used
-
directly by any individual or church leader.
-
Church leaders to support the construction of any project.
-
It is important for Christians to know that there is a
-
difference between tithes and offerings.
-
A tithe is 1/10, which must be given to the Lord.
-
All offerings must be voluntarily taken from the
-
remaining 90% of income that the person retains in other ways.
-
It is inappropriate for a person to use his or her tithe as an
-
offering. It is inappropriate for a person
-
to use his or her tights as an offering this.
-
Please let me comment about it tomorrow.
-
You could see that at times when the local church is, let me use
-
our church for as an example, since December up to this
-
period, we've had a lot of programs, a lot of activities.
-
And then we always encourage the members to support, support,
-
support in five years from December.
-
And we realized that from some, for some time now, our tights
-
keep on going down, down, down, down.
-
And I think I've said it here before and I was thinking that
-
the officers, we have discussed about it, church workers, we
-
have discussed about it. And I'm thinking I may be right,
-
I may be wrong. I'm thinking that some people
-
don't pay their tights at all and some people also don't pay
-
their tight fitfully. And I want I, I read this
-
material. What also came to mind is
-
probably because of the other things we decided to do, some
-
people decided to channel some of their tights through.
-
I hope you understand, Barbara. I hope you understand.
-
Send a tight year 2000. We say we want to do party, they
-
tight 2000 / 200 around 3000 is the same church.
-
We say recently what activities did we do that people supported
-
us. We did, we just did yesterday we
-
just did a Valentine. The topic was a Ville doubt
-
Ville, some people supported us. So from the same 2001 in two
-
people who know at the end of the day, no, the tights that is
-
supposed to pay which is 2000 not a swat TR with abaca 500.
-
The other 1005 no, it still went into the church activity.
-
But what we are saying is that the other 90% you have, you can
-
do other expenses, you can give other free will offering from
-
it. You shouldn't go into the the
-
10% of your tights, please. Is it clear?
-
Hello and she said what it is, why?
-
And then your last stop. Amen.
-
Tide should not be used to give arms to the poor, beggars and
-
needy. The reason is that it will never
-
be acceptable by the Ghana Revenue Authority for any reason
-
to use his or her taxes to support the needs of the poor
-
and needing. Tithes should not be paid to the
-
districts of a person's hometown because the individual church
-
member has a moral and spiritual responsibility to his or her
-
local assembly. It is in the person's local
-
assembly that he or she gets spiritual guidance, care,
-
feeding and teaching. Tithes should not be paid to
-
another church or organization because the individual church
-
member has a moral and spiritual responsibility to his or her
-
local assembly. This place to let me comment
-
tomorrow. Maybe you are a member of this
-
church. And then this coming Sunday, we
-
are having a fundraising to maybe buy a bus or for a project
-
and then another person invites you or maybe the church in your
-
village or your town, they are also having a fundraising and
-
they invite you and they invite you.
-
When it happens like that. Brother Cornelius, what will you
-
do? You 2, you are one man.
-
Your offering is 1. What will you do?
-
Come and tell us. Why is that, Mike?
-
Oh please give him the mic for me.
-
Hi. In such a case, I think the best
-
thing to do is to. Contribute to your local church
-
and then also the 90% that's left of your income.
-
You can decide to allocate some portion to your church in the
-
village. Yes, any other person.
-
Any other person. So let me also add this time I'm
-
not talking about the tides though we are talking about what
-
I really says that I should not be paid to another church or
-
organization. Let's say this organization full
-
Gospel, full Gospel businessmen, they have India program.
-
They still brother said we are inviting you and then you go
-
there or any other organization and then they are having their
-
program and they are taking tights and you are you are
-
invited. When it happens like that, you
-
don't pay your tights there. That is what we are saying.
-
You pay your tights at the local assembly.
-
But from what our brother said, the other 90% you have out of it
-
you can give to supports. But this one, I'm talking about
-
a special offering in the local church.
-
We are having a program and then you are invited elsewhere and
-
then you leave your local church and you go elsewhere.
-
That is not the right thing to do Amen.
-
I hope you understand if we finish, maybe we'll give you 3
-
minutes for questions, then we'll end there.
-
But our time is far gone. Tides should be taking on a
-
person's gross salary and not the net.
-
The person is. The reason is that the taxes
-
that are taken from the person's salary constitute a financial
-
obligation or he obligation he or she owes to the states.
-
It is from these taxes that the state provides security and
-
other social amenities to the cities.
-
Cities, citizenry, church leaders and money counters are
-
to be careful not to misuse or misapply the tides of any
-
unapproved purpose because the Bible says we have an altar from
-
which those who minister at the Tabernacle have no right to eat.
-
Hebrews 13, verse 10. Church leaders and money
-
countries are expected to demonstrate a high sense of
-
faithfulness, integrity and integrity and transparency in
-
the handling of tithes and offerings Are men because of our
-
time? We want to end here.
-
We'll continue later. Maybe we want to dedicate 2
-
minutes for any question clarification, then we end.
-
Amen. Any question, right?
-
So if there is no question, Adam will pray for.
-
Us Father, Lord, we thank you this morning for the revelations
-
that you have revealed unto us about Titan.
-
We pray that Father we cannot do away without you.
-
Pray that Father you grant us the strength and the Greece to
-
tight well a lot of men a lot of people do not tight well read
-
our Father you help us to tight world and continue to guide us
-
in whatever that we do. We thank you Lord, in Jesus
-
scenario period Thanksgiving, Amen.
-
He said Amen. So we want to practicalize what
-
you've learned this morning, our brother Joshua, and that will
-
take us through tight Joshua.
