The Tragedy and Triumph of The Lukewarm Church (A Study of Laodicea) - Elder Michael Wuni

That even as you have come to His process, you commit His

heart into your heart, into His hands.

That He shall touch your heart so that you'll be able to

receive His way. Shall you pray?

Our Lord and our God, we commit our heart.

It is our prayer now you shall touch our hearts, that your

weight will be fatal in our hearts.

I. To see Jesus.

Throughout the week we he studied about the

revelation John received from the Lord and scriptures makes us

to understand that the Lord opened John's eye and he

received the revelation from the Lord.

The Bible says our goal changes not today.

John is no more. Here, you are here, I'm here.

Even as the Word of God is coming, we want to lift our

hands on to the heavens and ask the Lord to open our eyes.

When the Lord open our eyes, we shall see what He wants us to

see. Open my eyes to see Jesus.

Shall you begin to pray and ask the Lord to open your

eyes, to see you, to see you? Shall we humbly resume our

seats? Father, in the name of Jesus, I

want to thank you this morning for an opportunity like this is

enough for a reason that throughout the whole week you

have guarded us and You have taken us through your word.

We pray in the name of Jesus as today marks the climax of our

area week and we are studying about the seven churches.

It is our prayer, O Lord, that before this morning service will

come to a close, You will give us a revelation.

You help us to understand Your word so that we shall abide with

Your word. We thank You in Jesus name,

Amen. Amen.

For those of you who are not able to come since Tuesday to

Friday, maybe I'll try and talk briefly about what we learnt and

then we'll come to today's topic.

On Tuesday, by the grace of God, our resident minister and the

person of Pastor Emmanuel Lacosa took us through the Ephesus

church, the Ephesus church. And from what we learnt, we

realized that the challenge that the Ephesus church had is that

they they, they were receiving false doctrine.

They were the church had sound doctrine and worked hard, but

lost its first love. The Ephesus church, the hard

sound doctrine, what it means is that they received the Word of

God. They were taught the word of

God. They worked so hard, but along

the line they lost the love of God.

How they began their devotion to God, their devotion to the

Kingdom business, they lost it. And so God was calling them to

remember their first love and repent.

And then God gave them a promise.

The promise God gave to the Ephesus church was that they

will access the tree of life in the paradise of God.

They will access the Tree of Life in the paradise of God on

Wednesday. Pastor Attention While estate

pastor was in our miss. He took us through the Sadist

Church and he made us to understand that the Sadist

Church was a dead church. Their challenge is that they had

reputation for being alive but was spiritually dead and

dormant. The Sadist church, they had a

reputation. They thought they were alive,

but spiritually they were dead and God gave them a promise.

The promise God gave them was that he include them in white

garments and then their names will be kept in the book of Life

and and confessed before the Father.

And then on Thursday, past Elder George also took us through the

Pegamom Church. That is the compromising church.

The compromising church and their challenge was that they

allowed false teachings, false doctrine, doctrine of Balaam,

the Nicolaitans, and then they compromised with the world and

yeshi and yeshi and yeshi. They compromised the compromise.

And then God also give them a promise.

The promise God gave them was that He's going to give them a

hidden manner, a white stone, and a new name.

I can't elaborate much about this God.

That's not our focus this morning.

It's for the purpose of those who couldn't come at all.

That's why I'm mentioning it. And then on Friday, Apostle, our

area head was in our miss in the person of Apostle Dr. De la

Quampa. He taught us on the Philadelphia

church, that is the faithful church.

The faithful church. The challenge was that they

maintain faithfulness with limited strength and urine

pressure. They maintain faithfulness with

limited strength and then they endured pressure and then the

promise God gave them was that He will make them a pillar in

the temple of God, receiving a new name.

receive a new name. And then because of time, I

think the other two churches, Smina and Tiatra, yesterday, on

Friday, area had spoke briefly about them.

We couldn't have time to treat it.

But when Ariel spoke about Philadelphia, he also mentioned

about Smina, which is the suffering church.

Their challenge was faced with intense persecution, poverty,

Emma, Tito and they are promised, they were promised the

crown of life. They will not be hit by the

second death. And then the theatre, the

tolerance church, their challenge was that they

tolerated immorality and false teaching, that is the teaching

of Jezebel. But God promised them authority.

All these promises, when God told them their weaknesses and

He make them to understand if they able to repent and change

the promises that He, the Lord will give unto them.

So the theatre church, God promised them authority to rule

over the nations, rule the nations with an iron Skepta,

shatter the nations like poetry, and then receive the morning

star. Amen.

Amen. So throughout the whole week,

one of the first we can say is that from the lessons and the

studies that went on, God is giving the church hope.

God is giving the church His promise.

And so this morning, if you are here, I want to announce you

that there is hope in the church.

The church is full of all. The church has a lot of promises

that we need to claim. And do not forget that when we

talk about the church, we are talking about you, we are

talking about me. Amen.

So the promises are focused on eternal life, all the promises

that were enumerated or given to the servant churches.

The focus is on eternal life, eternal life, intimacy with God

and reigning with Christ. And then the call God is giving

is that they will emphasize that while the church as a whole may

be criticized, the promise to the individual who overcome

these challenges will receive the promise.

Hello. The promise is or will be given

to those who are able to stand and overcome the challenges.

So what it means is that some of the churches went through

challenges. The only churches that did not

go through or did not have any, you will get there.

Let's go step by step. And then we could also see that

from all the churches the Lord was in their mess.

And then maybe if we should read Revelations chapter, let me see.

Let's read Revelation chapter 2, verse one and three.

these are the worst of him who holds the seven stars in his

right hand. And then I want to ask or pose

the question, who holds the seven stars?

Jesus. Jesus.

Yeah. So that is the revelation John

received. So he's talking about Jesus

here, the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand

and walks among the seven golden stars.

So you could see that, yes, the churches have challenges.

Some of the churches were going through immorality.

Some of the churches were doing unpleasant things.

Some of the churches please the Lord.

And the Bible is saying that the one who holds the seven stars,

who is Jesus, Bible is saying that he walks among them.

Hello. So what it means is that as a

church, as a church, Jesus always walks among us.

It doesn't matter what goes on. It doesn't matter.

And the reason why you should understand and accept the word

of God is that at times some of us Christians, we even complain

when things are not going on well, when we see that some

people are not depicting, depicting the life of a true

Christian or reflecting the life of Christ.

And at times it can even happen that leaders also do same.

When it happens like that, assuming you remember, you go

and see your presiding header in a bar corner somewhere, taking a

friend and saying gouda or Casa or Casa corner.

Then you the member by mistake, you come to the bar and then you

see your presiding. And this same presiding will

come and stand here. And then he will be preaching or

you see your presiding that entering a hotel room with a

young lady who is not the wife. And then the same presiding that

will come and stand here. And then he will tell you.

He will tell you what repent when I'm saying repent and you

are seated there. What would you see?

So the point here is that the church, no matter how you see

it, whatever that is going on in the church, John is saying that

Jesus is in his church. Hello.

I want to stand upon the authority of the Word of God and

tell you that Jesus in his in his church, Yeshua, yes you are.

And then when you continue, please let's continue.

It says it says that I know your deeds, your hard work and your

perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate

but are not and have found them false.

I think I'm one example and I'm in mine.

hard for the Lord. At times we even go against our

will to do Kingdom business. Amen.

Let's move to the vestry and then I'll come back to you have

not grown weary because of time will not continue.

So what it means is that whenever you are going through

tribulation, John himself, the apostle who had the revelation,

he received the revelation as a result of the tribulation he

went through when he was abandoned on the Patmos Island.

And then everybody was thinking that he should die there.

That is where the Lord gave him the revelation.

And so maybe if you are here this morning, I want to announce

to you that you may be suffering as a result of your

righteousness. You may be suffering as a result

of your commitment to the Kingdom business.

I want to announce you that Jesus is in the known of all

these things and he's encouraging us to persevere.

Amen. Because of time.

Let me go straight to what we are supposed to learn today.

Today we want to talk about the La Docia Church.

La Docia Spirit divine, Oh my

nature. Duty of Jesus.

Beauty of Jesus.

Beauty of Jesus Shall we humbly be on our feet?

We want to pray once again and ask of the Lord to make us the

kind of church who is beautiful. That I will be the church who is

beautiful. That you will be the church who

is beautiful. Die beauty of Jesus, shall you

open your mouth and pray? Tell the Lord, make me a church

which is beautiful. Father, Lord Jesus, Lord, we

pray ourselves into thy hands. Oh Lord, a promise church is our

prayer. Father, Lord Jesus, for you

shall make us a promise church, a kind of church.

Father, Lord Jesus, this one which is beautiful, Your own

glory. We know you have prayer

answering God, and even as we pray in the name of Jesus you

will grant us our prayer requests.

Your name you praise forever in the name of Jesus.

Shall we sit down, Spirit? Spirit divide.

The beauty of Jesus.

The beauty of Jesus BC praise the Lord, yo.

So as I said, we want to talk about the La Lusia church this

morning. And then we realized that with

the Loudestia church, they are challenging us.

They were a lukewarm church. A lukewarm church.

We want to read from Revelations chapter 3, verse 14 to 22.

Revelation 3:14–22

Shall you project it for us? Revelation chapter 314 to 22 To

the Angel of the church in Laodicea, right?

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness,

the ruler of God's creation. I know your deeds, that you are

neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or

the other. So because you are lukewarm,

neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

You say I am rich, I have acquired wealth and do not need

a thing. But you do not realize that you

are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

I cancel you to buy from me gold, refine in the fire so you

can become rich, and white clothes to wear so you can cover

your shameful nakedness and solve to put on your eyes so you

can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and

discipline. So be honest and repent.

Here I am, I stand at the door and knock.

If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in

and eat with that person and be with me.

To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with

me on my prune. Just as I was victorious.

I sat down with my father on his truth.

Amen. Amen.

So here we could see that with a La Dosia church, they also had

their promise and they also had their challenge.

The challenge they had was that they were a lukewarm church.

The Bible describes that they were not hot and they were not

cold. So what it means is that they

did not have one stand. It's just like someone who is

not a Christian, who is not a wetly person.

Amen. In other words, the person has

one feet in the church 1 feet outside of the Kingdom.

And the Bible describes such a person or such church as a

lukewarm church. And the Bible is saying that the

church or that person should take a stand.

If you are hot, be hot, and if you are cold, be cold.

And the Bible is saying that if you fail to be hot and you fail

to be cold, I'll speak to you out.

Amen. Amen.

So this was the life of this was the kind of life that the church

in Laodicea lived. And from the Scriptures you

could see that God gave them a promise.

He said, I will give you the right to sit with me on my

throne. So the promise is that if they

are able to change, if they are able to repent from their

lukewarmness, the promise that is given to them is that they

will be given the right to sit with Jesus on his throne.

Amen. Amen.

And then from the Scriptures also, we realized that when we

talk about the Laodicea church, you could see that it was the

kind of church which was so rich, which was rich.

And because of their wealth, they couldn't identify, they

couldn't recognize their wretchedness.

And then if you study from scriptures or one you, you

study, you could realize that the, the, the Laudisia church

was financially independent. They lacked nothing.

They lack nothing. And then according to history,

you know, the Laudisia churches around the techie area, they

always experience earthquake. And you see when an earthquake

happens in a country and then there is so much disaster, you

could see that there are other countries which go to support

them with France and other relief items.

They go and support them with relief items.

But according to the studies we did, we realized that the

Lordicia Church was so rich that whenever earthquake happens,

they still needed not the support of other people.

They had so much that they could cater for themselves.

They were financially sound or independent.

The Aldicia Church was a church full of fashion.

Fashion, fashion, fashion capital.

Always say fashion. I hope you understand dressing

the Laudesia Church. In the Laudesia church, when you

read, you could realize that they had a clothes industry.

And so they were. They were, they were.

It was a fashion town or fashion church.

They didn't joke with fashion at all.

Amen. Amen.

And when we said they didn't joke with fashion, I hope you

understand because the, the, the number of phone number number.

But what I'm trying to say is that it's like because they were

rich, they had money and because of that, they were fashion,

fashion, fashion. What's minded?

They don't joke with fashion. And so in the church now,

fashion now this, at times we also see it when the Lord bless

you so much, we dress and dress and dress, and at times we

forget about ourselves. And so because they were fashion

minded, it got to a point that they could dress anyhow in the

name of fashion. In the name of fashion, maybe

let me say that when you're a child of God, it is good to

dress, but you need to be mindful of how you dress.

One of the reasons that shows that they were lukewarm is as a

result of their fashion. How the wetly person dresses

should be different from how the godly person dresses.

Martina dispensation. It is like at times we the

believers learn from the unbelievers.

We learn from the unbelievers in the name of fashion.

Just imagine in our church when we were given the opportunity to

especially the ladies to put on trousers.

At times the way we put on the trousers in the name of fashion.

her Nenebia. That was how the church in

Laodicea lived, in the name of Nenebia.

And the Bible says that they were wretched, but they didn't

know that. So what it means is that you can

be in the church and think that I'm financially sound.

Oh, my dressing, come on, By the sight of God you are wretched.

In the sight of God you are naked in the sight of God you

are very, very pitiful. And then one thing also, if you

read, you could see that they were known a world renowned

medical school drawing patient globally famous specifically on

its highly effective ear bumps and eye drops.

During that time globally, they were manufacturers of eye, let

me say eye drop or eye medication and that ear

medication. So what it means is that maybe

during those days, any person in any part of the world, when they

needed medication, they need to they need to buy from Laodicea.

They had ear balm, they had eye drop, but the Bible says they

were blind. Hello.

So all that Bible is trying to say is that though they had all

these things, they were naked in the sight of God.

So what it means is that the fact that you have the best, the

fact that you have everything, does not make you the righteous

person. From what you read, you could

see that these are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true

witness, the ruler of God's creation.

The Amen was traced from Isaiah 65 and 16 where God is the God

of truth. He is steady, unchangeable, and

His promises are beyond doubts. Our goal is unchangeable.

The times changes, the time changes.

Recently I was looking at a video and then someone there was

this young lady who was going to give water to the to the to the

wife, to the husband. Sorry.

When the young lady sent the water to the husband, she knelt

down like this and then Nisha femme or the man.

And then they were trying to demonstrate how things has

changed yearly. And then what they were trying

to say is that now the young lady must sit down for the man

to bring, to bring to serve the wife or the woman, the water.

That is the kind of dispensation in which we leave it and won't

be unto you if you don't do it. Listen.

And our country because in any mere aircraft.

So the point is that time changes, time changes, time

changes. Gone are the days in the 80s,

seventies, if you see a young man with bushy hair, let's just

say we are current in our dispensation.

I was like gone are the days if you dress with your trouser too.

Naboo, let's just say we are current in our dispensation.

How is it like? So the point is that day in day

out time changes, but our goal does not change is the same

yesterday, today and forever on Susanda until if God does not

change, then please, we should understand that the precepts,

the principles of God does not change.

The types may change. Amen, Amen.

And then maybe let's read Revelations 19 verse 12.

Revelation 19:12

While John was describing when he had the revelation and then

he saw Jesus seated on the Troon and then he was describing him.

His eyes are like blazing fire. On his head are many crowns.

He has a name written on him that no one knows but He

Himself. Amen.

He has a name written on him that no one knows but He

himself, and then He is. That is the originator of

creation. Colossians one verse 6.

The God of creation is the exact same as the God of redemption.

He initiated the world and imitates restoration.

The originator of the world. The originator of the world.

The danger of neutrality. If the Church or the Leodisia

Church were identifiable enemies, enemies, a resistance

strategy could be formed. If allies, they could be

embraced because they are neither friendly nor angonistic.

They are impossible to classify. Hello, where will you be

classified? And then the divine response.

Christ regards his neutral, this neutral attitude as nauseating.

Of all spiritual condition conditions, indifference is the

hardest to combat, prompting the stark warning, I am about to

spit you out of my mouth. So what it means is that when

you are in the church or as the church, if you fail to identify

your stunt, he will spit you out and say if you are warm, be warm

and if you are cold, be cold. Amen.

So the Bible is saying that if you fail to have a stand, Jesus

will spill you out. And so as I stand here, if I

have double stand, the Bible is telling me that Jesus will spill

me out. And you also, if you also have

double stand, Jesus will spill you out.

If that is the case, then I need to repent.

If that is the case, then you need to repents.

Amen. Amen.

The Elodisia Church was deeply loved by Paul, who considered

it's part of his mission field. Yet over time, the church

members simply became indistinguishable from the proud

culture around them. They suffered from the

catastrophic reversal of values. What they considered an asset

was actually their liability. Their earthly security had

blinded them to their severe spiritual vulnerability.

Because they were so rich, they didn't see their real states as

a church. They didn't see their real

state. If that is the case, then is it

good for God to bless or it's not good for God to bless?

Because I believe they are riches was from God.

Hello, those of us who are praying for riches, while you

are praying hard, hard, that Lord, if you bless me, help me

to know you more. There is another which says that

if you want to see, if you want to know the character of

someone, give him riches. The real character of someone,

give him riches. Someone may be humble, someone

may be, may be whatever, as a result of his condition, but let

him come out of that condition and then you see the actual

stand of that person. So the Laodicea Church, we could

see that they were very rich and they needed nothing.

They were very rich and they needed nothing.

That is what they were boasting of.

I have everything. I don't need anything.

But in the sight of God, when Christ wears them, carries them,

Christ sees that they were very wretched, they were very

pitiful, and they were very poor.

So when the Lord blesses you, it is very important for you to

carry yourself. How does God sees me?

How does God sees me? And then the divine prescription

Jesus gave unto them is that they will come and buy gold.

They will buy from him gold refined in the fire.

And then the next one. Then Odyssea Church boasts of

famous black Violet designer fashion.

No, no, what are some of the fashion designs as they say

also, Oh Charles, you draw our hand on a more friend and say

polo, Polo isn't my design. Polo.

I remember some time ago, there are some young men, they don't

have food to eat, but they can't contribute.

And then Adidas not on share, no dressing up as obviously Adidas

washer Nike fashion. And then one day I bought to get

it. They boast with it, they boast

with it fashion. But in the midst of this, in the

abundance of their fashion, in the sight of God, they were seen

as naked. And then the divine prescription

that was prescribed to them is that they will buy white clothes

to cover their shameful nakedness.

And then as I mentioned, they were the world class.

They had the world class eye ointment.

They were the manufacturers of it.

But in the sight of God they were boasting.

We have the best eye drop eye ointment.

By the sight of God, they were blind.

They were blind. The eye ointment that is

supposed to help the eye see clearly in the sight of God.

They were blind and Bible is saying that the Christ

recommended that they buy salve to put on their eyes so they can

see. Amen.

Christ counsels to buy gold refined in fire through wealth.

Is Christian character forged uniquely in the context of pain,

trial, and sacrifice? So I said we would do Christ

cancels them to buy gold refined in fire.

Gold that is refined in fire, How does it look like?

We are told that when the miners get the gold, it starts from the

dust. But before you get the gold out

they are talking about it must go through fire.

Until it goes through fire you will never see gold.

And so Christ counsels them to buy gold refined in fire.

Analysis. That through wealth is Christian

character forged uniquely in the context of pain, trial, and

sacrifice. So what it means is that when

Christ is recommending, Christ is recommending to buy gold

refined in fire. What it means is that the

church, the believer, will go through pain, will go through

trial, and will go through sacrifices.

And John the Apostle is a typical example.

The other time our area head was saying that when John the

Apostle was maltreated and then he went through all the

hardship, John never prayed and said when the people more

treated him to the point that they wanted to take his life.

Paul the John never prayed against them, but rather he saw

an opportunity and it is as a result of that that he received

a revelation. So I want to stand upon the word

of God and tell you that suffering is part of the

worship. But this part of it, we don't

talk about it of lit. We, some people believe that

when you come to the saving knowledge of Christ, you are

free from trials, you are free from troubles.

Jesus himself, who is our Savior, he went through

suffering. That is the baptism of fire.

And so any believer who do not or who does not go through

suffering, there is something wrong with you.

Our former chairman said once that one, you'll become a child

of God, a believer and the devil does not attack you or strike

you, it means you are not doing anything for God.

And I want to believe that what he said is true.

Whenever the devil sees that you are working for God, you become

a targets or his targets. And when he tries you and he

does not get you, he will move to anything that consents you.

It can be your wife, it can be your children, it can be your

property. And the reason why he was saying

Amen, Amen. Some time ago someone was saying

that he was suffered by now I say Sir, I suffered baby.

Now I say I say she was her meaning.

And they say the father was sent to the machines and then when

give all that you have. And then he gave all that he

had. As I was talking as as at that

time the child was going to write the final exams, they

needed to pay the examination registration and the instruction

was that give everything. So the man to obeyed and then he

gave everything and then on Monday the child came for money

to go and pay. The father said I don't have but

yes that power we are correct. That power we are correct from

what the child is saying, the child is 100% right.

But the further too was obeying the voice that he had the other

time when I was reading scriptures, I understood why

when God told Abraham to go and sacrifice Isaac, Abraham did not

tell the wife this thing maybe would debate about it later.

We would debate about it later. But you think if Abraham had

told the wife uncle. So you see that?

So you see that Abraham took a boss, a bold step in the

interest of the family. And today Abraham has become the

father of Four Nations. Amen.

So what it means is that whenever the Lord gives you a

word which is meant for you, you must keep it.

Now let's move on. Their deceptions and naked their

deceptions. Their deceptions and their

nakedness. Laudisia chased temporary

designer outfits that held Little Valley, unaware of their

humiliating spiritual exposure. There is no point in adorning

the body if the soul is twisted. Christ offers pure white clothes

to cover others into the typical Odyssea church and assuming that

condition. Patients who deny their

conditions refuse treatments. Patients who deny their
