The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament - Ps. Emmanuel Osei Akosah

And this week relieving the Pentecost experience.

And one of the things that we are looking or the topics that

we'll be looking or I'll be handling is the Holy Spirit in

the Old Testament. The Holy Spirit in the Old

Testament, mostly we think that the Holy Spirit did not feature

in the OT, but he featured prominently in many ways in the

OT and it was a foretaste of his work that he's going to do with

us. So today we are looking at the

Holy Spirit in the Old Testament and we want to consider this

topic along the emblems of the Holy Spirit.

The emblems are symbols or symbolic representations of the

Holy Spirit in the Bible. And the first one I want to

look, there are many, we want to look at the wind, the wind, the

wind. And we're going to look at 3

texts tonight and then we'll draw some links and some and

some correlations and then draw it down to our time.

So we are we taking the first one from Genesis chapter 8 verse

Genesis 8 · chapter mention

one, Genesis 8 verse one, Genesis 8 verse one.

I want to take off from the New Living Translation good and also

read from Genesis one verse 2 and then verse 9 to 10, Genesis

one verse 2 and verse 9 to 10, and then finally Exodus chapter

1421 to 22. Exodus 14, 21 to 22.

And let me add this as another verse.

Isaiah 5919, Isaiah 5919. So I go over it again.

Genesis 8 verse one Genesis 8 verse one Genesis 129 to 10,

Genesis one verse 2 and then verse 9 to 10, then Exodus 1421

to 22, then finally Isaiah 5919. So let's go to the first one.

But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock.

With him in the boots, He sent a wind to blow across the earth,

and the floodwaters began to recede.

Then go to Genesis one, verse 2. And then verse 9.

The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the

deep waters. Again, take note of the waters,

and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the

waters. Verse 9.

Then God said, let the waters beneath the sky flew together

into one place so dry ground, emphasis on dry ground may

appear and it's and that is what happened.

God called the dry ground land and the water cease and God saw

that it was good. Then move on to Exodus.

Exodus chapter 14 verse 22 to 20, verse 21 and 22.

Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up

a path through the water with a strong E wind.

The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land

again. Take notice of the dry land, so

the people of Israel walk through the middle of the sea on

dry ground with walls of water on each side.

Finally, go to Isaiah 59 and verse 19, Isaiah 59 and verse

19. This one, I want to take you

from the New King James, if you can have that one for us, New

King James Version. So, so shall they fear the name

of the Lord from the West and His glory from the rising of the

sun. When the enemy comes in like a

flood, symbolic flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up

a standard against him. Amen.

So we are looking at the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament.

We are looking at just one emblem, which is the wind.

The wind. So Genesis 8 verse one, but God

remembered Noah. But God remembered Noah.

So the correlations or what we're going to draw is that we

see God remembering Noah, we see God remembering Israel, we see

God doing something special to bring out dry land, and we see

God through his Spirit trying to kick out or move away flood with

the symbolic of enemy. So let's now look at how this

train and how Noah's remember God, remembering him by his

Spirit brought the dry ground. Amen.

So God remembered them. God remembered Noah and God

remembered the nation Israel to if read Exodus chapter 224.

Exodus 224. God had their groanings and he

remembered His covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to

act. So we see here that God we are

using human terms to describe how God moves in to act on our

behalf. May God remember you so that

when He remembers you, may He move swiftly on your behalf.

And may he now know that it is not time to act on your behalf.

So God in his creation, man. Man plays a very key role at the

center of God's creation. God cares so much about us that

he has put us in the center of his creation.

The next thing we see about the story of Noah is the wake of the

Spirit of God. So by this time Noah and all the

wild animals and livestock were with him in the boots on a flat.

The waters had covered the entire earth, even the the

highest, the the highest mountain was covered.

No peak of anything of our land was seen.

Everything of our land, every vegetation, everything land

submissed by the flood. So God remembered Noah and all

the animals. He remembered his creation.

And what did he do? He sent a wind.

And God should have allowed the sun just to rise.

God should have created the atmosphere to be hot so that the

flood waters will just evaporate.

But God sent a wind, and that wet wind there in Greek is rural

and is the same for spirits. So God did not just send any

spirit any wind. It was symbolic of His spirit at

work in creation. Hallelujah.

So it was what? Symbolic of His spirit at work

in creation. And that is where we draw that

power line with creation when God created the earth.

Let's go back to Genesis 1 and two.

So the earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the

deep waters. So darkness covered what the

deep what? Again, there was what waters.

And when there was waters, what did God do?

And the Spirit of God was doing what?

Hovering over the surface of what?

The waters, it wasn't hovering over anywhere, but it was

hovering over the surface of the waters.

So it's the same thing. So God had a plan to bring forth

dry land where human beings can live.

So if God does not move away the flood, nothing else could grow.

If there was no land, there could have not been any

vegetation, there could have not been any wild animal, there

could have not been any land of vegetation.

Where would man have lived? So the Holy Spirit or the Spirit

of God as he was hovering over the waters, and God began to

separate things and creation. God began to say, Let there be

light, and the vast mind is what is more of our for interest for

what we are looking at. Let the waters beneath.

So all this while the Spirit of God was hovering, hovering,

hovering. Let the waters beneath the sky

float together into one place, so dry ground may appear.

Dry ground. So without the Holy Spirit

hovering over the waters, there will no be any dry ground.

And that is the same principle God used in Genesis 8 when you

wanted the whole flood to recede.

The Spirit of the Lord. Hallelujah, oh Hallelujah.

So the the the land or earth they are translated the same way

in Hebrew. The earth and the land I also

want translated the same way. So in Noah's case, God was

bringing forth some kind of a new creation.

Remember John 3 Jesus said that unless sin free ensue anyone

whom and why. Unless you are born of the water

and the Spirit, you saw anything that the Lord wanted to bring

forth, the waters were there, and the Spirit of the Lord will

hover and out of it comes a new creation.

And it is the same way that the new creation, a man is born

again. So the Holy Spirit, the wind

always is hovering and showing that something positive will

come out as he hovers over the waters.

Hallelujah, oh Hallelujah. So the waters in this case, in

no worse case, the flood. The flood was a threat to

anything on earth. So it was an enemy.

And Isaiah said that when the enemy comes in like a flood, who

will lift up the Spirit of the Lord, will lift up a standard

against So always the Holy Spirit.

And His work as a wind is phenomenal, is very powerful.

May the Almighty God, may His Spirit hover over us so that

anything that has been covered by floodwaters, as the Holy

Spirit hovers over us, may our dry ground be revealed.

Your dry ground is where you will live, the ground is where

you will stand. As I see human beings, where can

we? We cannot hang in the air, three

of us. Trees need to grow up from the

ground and birds will have to also patch on the trees on the

ground. So the dry ground is very keen,

is very, very, very important. And the same thing Fast forward,

is what happened when the Lord said that I'm going to give you

a promised land to the nation Israel.

So in the days of Noah, the reason why God allowed the

waters to cover the earth was that there was so much evil.

There was so much evil. And so God intentionally used

the waters to cover them, to bring forth a new land.

And God had to bless all the his things that he's created.

He needed to give them the dominion mandate to multiply and

be fruitful. He needed to enter into a

covenant with Noah again so that his descendants will flourish.

So God was by that bringing something new forth.

And then the Exodus, Exodus, Israel, they have come out of

oppression, oppression and they were heading towards a land

again land and they needed to pass through a barrier, which is

also what water, water and shave him again water.

So whilst they were there crying, God told Moses that tell

them that they should be still and the Lord is going to perform

something great. So genus Exodus 14, Exodus 14.

Let us go back to the verse 21. The Moses raised his hand over

the sea and the Lord opened up a path through the water with

again wind. This time around the wind has

been qualified strong E wind The wind blew all that night turning

the seabed into what Into what? So anything that prevents you

from moving the Holy Spirit is dead to ensure that whatever the

Lord has assured you. So in their case they needed to

get to a land that is, that is flew with milk and honey, but

there was a sea preventing them. And again, we see the holy

street at work, blowing, blowing, driving them as if that

was not enough. Or Sami will say, I'm going to

create dry land again, just as I did for Noah, just as I did at

creation. I'm going to create a new group

of people who are going to walk on dry land into the promised

land. And I'm going to kill Pharaoh, a

symbol of oppression in that same water that is the God we

serve. I pray that anything that is

preventing you, if there is any flood, if there is any water

preventing you from reaching your promised land, may the

Spirit of the Lord blow, may the Holy Ghost blow, may the Spirit

of the Lord blow. So the Holy Spirit effect here

is that whilst he's covering oppression, whilst he's killing

corruption on earth, he's bringing forth a new group and

new creation. So just as as human beings, when

we come to the Lord Jesus the Holy Spirit in us, in fact the

work of the Holy Spirit in our born again experience is

amazing. Jesus told Nicodemus let's go to

John 3 and then see how Jesus progressed the conversation.

Then he said that Jesus replied, I assure you no one can enter

the Kingdom of God without being born of what?

The water and the spirit. Next verse please.

Humans can produce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives

birth to spiritual life. Next verse So don't be surprised

when I say you must be born again.

The wind blows wherever it wants, just as you can hear the

wind but cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.

So you cannot explain how people are born of the spirits.

Let's have the best night and see how are these things

possible. Nicodemus, ask 10 please, Jesus

replied. You are a respected Jewish

teacher and yet you do understand these things.

I assure you. We tell you what we know and

have seen, yet you won't believe our testimony.

Let's see if so. But if you don't believe me when

I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if

I tell you about heavenly things?

So let's end there. Let's end there.

So what Jesus is saying is that he's not telling us the rule of

the Holy Spirit in our born again.

So just as God used creation to tell us about the rule of his

spirits, the flood, the Exodus, and now they're born again, God

wants to bring new group. Yami penny Papa from and the

same principle is at work, the water and the spirit, the water

and the spirit. So that when you are born of

these things, then God is saying that the newness of life can now

come forth. I pray that May God give birth

to something great in US. May the Holy Spirit, so wherever

the water is water be are the Holy Spirit hovering over it

will bring something powerful, will bring something superb.

And the water, mostly theologians will use it to

represent the Word of God. So if you soak yourself in the

Word of God and you allow the Holy Spirit to blow over you,

the Lord is betting something great and super in you.

And if the if the enemy also there uses the water as a

hindrance, the Holy Spirit will also blow and drive the waters

away. So whatever way, if the enemy

comes in like a flood, not like any waters, but like a flood,

the Holy Spirit blowing over it will cause it to recede so that

the newness in you will come forth.

So if the enemy brings sin like a flood, let the Holy Spirit in

you blow over it so that it will go away.

When a believer strokes himself in the washing with water of the

wed, because efficient sports say that, and God is preparing

the bride, the church with what? The washing of the wet.

So the water is not linking to the wet.

And if you soak yourself in the wet, then as the Holy Spirit

hovers around you, he is bathing something unique in you.

May the Holy Spirit birth great things in US.

Hallelujah. Oh, is somebody flowing?

So the Holy Spirit is prominent. The Holy Spirit is what

prominent very very, very, very important and in Acts 2.

Let me also try and bring this out to you.

Acts chapter 2 verse one when the day of Pentecost, let's have

Acts 2 · chapter mention

it. Can we have?

When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all

together with 1 accord in one place, 1 accord in one place, 1

accord in one place. That word is very, very, very

important. The Israelites were also

together at the Red Sea, one place.

Noah and the sons and the wild animals, they were all together

in the booth, one place, and the Lord remember them.

So the God wants us together at one place so that with 1 accord

He can perform in us. So unity is important, unity of

the Spirit, unity of the Spirit is very, very important, so that

whatever the Lord will want to do with you, He can do it.

thing by the wind. Numbers 11, Numbers 11, verse

3132, Numbers 113132. Now a wind went no, give me the

NLT wind mania. Now the Lord sent a wind.

Take notice of the word a wind and you find the same thing in

the Genesis 81. The Lord remembered them and

sent them a wind. So the Lord sent a wind that

brought quill from the sea and let them fall all around the

camp 4 miles in every direction. There were quill flying about 3

feet above the ground. So the people went out and

caught quail. All that day and throughout the

night and all the next day. No one gathered less than 50

bushels of OK. So they spread the quail all

around the camp to dry a normal busu.

But the next that the other vest is a sad one.

Let's see. But while they were gouging

themselves on the meat, while it was still in their mouth, the

anger of the Lord blazed against the people and he struck them

with a severe plague. So he also, we see that the wind

from the Lord, the wind from the Lord, the Holy Spirit, there was

a demand, serious demand for meat.

They remembered Egypt. Moses, if we were to be in

Egypt, would have eaten fish with garlic, onions, leeks.

So they were remembering their past lives and they were

craving. So the people questioned, why,

God, why did you save us? God, why did you save us?

But all these things were caused by the foreigners who were with

them. This tell this trouble.

So I've always been saying that it took God one day to take

Israel out of Egypt. I've been saying it here and

I'll say it, but it took God 40 years to take Egypt out of

Israel. I like this quotes it took

someone has said that it took one day to take Israel Mama

saying call Pharaoh, say hey, go, go, go, go, go, go one day.

But it took God 40 years to uproot the mindset of Egypt, 40

years to uproot it from the mindset of the Israelites by

killing everybody. He had to kill some of them to

erase and to reset their thinking that now they are free.

So you see that it is tough. So whilst they were complaining

about mana, Moses, this mana, only this mana.

Meanwhile they were traveling to the promised land and God

intentionally did all these things so that he will let them

know that he can provide. So when there was a serious need

for meat, serious one Obiah Condo and meat, so Moses himself

cry. So because of meat, the whole

families were standing at their door crying.

And the power of slavery. I'm trying to write or prepare a

sermon on taste and hunger. These are some of the drives

So because of that the all of them were crying and Moses was

Did I give birth to them? Why did you tell me to carry

How can I carry them to the land you swore to give their

ancestors? Where am I am I supposed to get

I was a serious need, where am I?

They keep winning to me crying, saying give us meat to eat my

everything. I can't carry all these people

by myself. Is that how you tend to know

And he said, do me a favor and spare me this misery.

assess the Holy Ghost tonight. We want to pray.

We want to pray. You see that whenever there is a

difficult issue in the scripture, whenever there is a

mess, whenever there is something so hard that humans

cannot do anything, the Holy Ghost comes in and when he steps

in, he solves it. So how can we carry this

wonderful gifts in US and still be moving about and things are

disordered. We need to let the Holy Ghost

work tonight. We want to pray shall be on our

feet. We want to be on our feet.

We want to be on our feet. Begin blue in tongues.

Somebody begin blue in the language of the serene.

Begin to assess, begin to activate.

Begin to activate power of the Holy Ghost, the power of the

Spirit of God in you that went from God, Lord, in the name of

Jesus. Activate the power in you.

We are praying the Lord remembered Noah.

We are praying that, oh God, if there is any floodwaters

covering or hiding my land where I have to dwell in the flood,

covering my fruitfulness, oh Holy Ghost, blow, blow, Jesus,

blow away any work of the enemy Jesus blew away.

Any works of the flesh Jesus blew away, 'cause them to dry.

Jesus, cause them to dry. If my giftings are wet, Jesus,

cause them to dry. In the name of Jesus, lift up

your voice, the Holy Ghost. Blow over my land.

Blow over every flood. If there's a flood, land.

In the name of Jesus as you hover over the.

Any floodwaters covering our land, covering our food furnace,

preventing group, preventing fruitfulness.

Holy good. Blue.

Blue. Blue, blue, 'cause them to dry,

cause them to dry, cause any floodwaters to receive in the

name of Jesus. Bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom,

bloom, bloom. Anything preventing groups

successfulness, anything preventing our dry ground brings

to comfort blood blue. Let every floodwaters receive.

We are praying when the Red Sea was preventing them again the

Holy Ghost. The East strong E wind blew all

night and drove the waters back. We are praying as the Lord is

taking us to the land that He has promised.

Anything that wants to inhibit, that wants to prevent us,

anything that is standing in the way, Jesus, it is not by mind,

Jesus, it is not by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord.

Any difficult thing, Jesus, that is preventing you from seeing

your fruitfulness, Jesus, any difficult thing that is

inhibiting you, retarding your growth, preventing you from

moving forward. Tonight we are praying.

Jesus, oh Holy Ghost, Jesus, move in your power, move in your

strength. Drive them away.

Drive them backwards. Cause dry land to appear.

Cause dry land to appear. Lift up your voice.

I mean cry out. Cry out to the Lord.

Oh God, dear Holy Ghost in the Red Sea in front of us, in the

name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, professional from moving

forward. In the name of Jesus, all ghost

by your power. Blow, blow tonight.

Let your power drive, drive them away, drive every Red Sea away,

drive and push them. Try and push them in the name of

Jesus. Holy Ghost, drive them with your

power. Drive them dry every sea, dry

everywhere, sea backward, by your power, by your power, by

your power, by your power, by your power, in the name of

Jesus. We are praying when the when the

people of Israel were en route to the promised land, they

needed meat over 600,000 people and most was civil accident.

Are you going to kill bulls? How are you going to provide

meat for over 600,000? Then the Lord said my arm is has

not lost its power. So it means that the Holy Ghost

is the powerful arm of God. And by that the wind and wind

from the lawn went and drove again from the sea Jesus.

So there is something about the Spirit and water.

There is something so special about the Spirit hovering over

water again, the spirit the wind brought quail from the sea and

dump them in the camp. We are praying.

If there is any demand in our life that is so overwhelming, we

don't know where to start from. We don't know how to go about

it. We don't know how to handle it.

The answer is the Holy Ghost. So today we are presenting them.

Oh Holy Ghost cause quill, drive good things our way.

Drive them. How can I meet my spouse?

Where can I get funding for this project?

You have been asking yourself where and how?

The Tonight the answer is the Holy Ghost.

So we are praying Holy Ghost. Drive them towards my camp.

Drive money towards my camp. Drive good things towards my

camp. Drive good things and bring them

my way. Lift your voice and begin to cry

out Holy Ghost, Holy Ghost, Holy Ghost, Holy Ghost, Holy Ghost,

just as you drove pills from the sea and dump them in the camp.

Lord, drive. Lord, drive.

Every problem, every knee, everything that is overwhelming

us. Holy Ghost, drive them around

the Gather them for us. Gather them for us.

Gather, give things for us. Gather good people and bring

them away. Gather resources for us.

Gather resources for ministries, Gather resources, Oh God, if

there is any need in the local churches, in English, in Loca,

in escape, do Lord. Drive them by the powerful wind,

Lord, drive them by the wind, Lord, drive them by your wind.

Gather them, Oh God, and bring them away.

Gather them, Oh God, and bring them away.

Scatter them, Oh God, and bring them away.

Gather them, oh God, and bring them away, Oh God, gather them,

bring them away. Gather them and bring them away.

We are lifting up another prayer.

The Bible says that when the enemy comes in like a flower,

the spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard.

We are praying if the enemy. In fact, when flood is coming,

it is directionless. It comes from every direction,

every corner. It takes you and shifts you off

your feet. It covers things and deprives

you of life. So we are praying.

Oh God, if the enemy has entered my life, if the enemy has

entered my space like a fly, Holy Ghost, lift up a standard

against the enemy, lift up a standard against the enemy.

Lift up your voice and you know, cry out.

Cry out to the Lord. Pray, pray, pray, pray, pray.

Yeah. If the enemy comes in, if the

enemy has entered any life like a flower, oh, go.

May you lift up a stand up. May you beat them back.

May you drive them back. May you drive the enemy back.

Drive any enemy that is coming like a flower.

Holy Ghost, write them back in the name of Jesus.

Yes Lord. Yes Lord.

Yes, Lord, shall we?

Shall we take our seeds? Shall we take our seed?

Blow over me the breath of God sweep over me, the Spirit of God

over me, transform me. Cost me a lot to do your home.

Cause me, Lord, cause me, Lord, to do your Father.

In the name of Jesus, we thank you.

We thank you that today you have reviewed unto us, You have

reminded us, and you have told us of your work in the Old

Testament by the emblem of the wind.

Lord, we thank you, we bless your name for what you have

accomplished, sweet Holy Spirit, in our time.

To you. Lord, if flood has covered our

beautiful, beautiful landlord, blow over the flood and cause

the flood to recede and cause the good things in us to shine

forth. Lord, any barrier, drive them

away. And if the enemy should come in

like a flood, Lord, drive them back for us.

Drive them back for us, and may their may their plans be

defeated. If anyone here is trusting you

to provide, Lord, provide just as you by your spirit.

You brought quail, you gathered quail and dump them.

You regulated how they should even fly.

You regulated that they shouldn't fly above 3, three

feet above the ground. That is how you regulate things

to provide for us. Oh holy sorry if anyone is

overwhelmed by the demands of work, by the demands ahead of

him or her. Lord, we turn unto you, dear

Holy Spirit. Dr. gather resources for us.

Gather resources and dump them in our camp, dump them within

arms reach so that we can gather them to bring glory to your

name. This time around.

May your resources provided not kill us, but may they bring life

unto us. We thank you, sit Holy Spirit,

we love you. We thank you that you are the

one that Jesus has committed our whole being unto you, because

you are the comforter, You are the counselor, You are

everything. So let's reign in US, blow over

us. If there is any flood that wants

to cover spiritual giftings. Lord, as we we tarry before you,

may you dry every flood that has covered spiritual giftings.

May you drive every flood away so that our giftings will be

exposed and be seen to the glory of your name.
