Underestimating what is underneath - Bro Jeremy Howell 3-31-2024

You glad to be in the house of the Lord this morning. I am

thankful for Easter, Sunday resurrection Sunday spelled his health. Brother Nathaniel one Corinthians,

chapter number fifteen, Versus number three and four, My brother, for

I delivered under you first of all that which I also received. Now that

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and then he was married,

and then he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Amen,

I want you to notice something at the end of two of those verses,

Versus number three and four according to the scriptures. The end of verse

number three according to the scriptures, the end of verse number four according to

the scriptures. I don't care what anybody says about anything concerning Christianity or how

our Lord feels about it. I don't care what they say or what they're

opinions are. I'm going to go back to the scriptures. According to the

scriptures. Heymen, brother Jesse. First Samuel, chapter number sixteen and verse

number seven. But the Lord said out to Samuel, look not on his

countenance or the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For

the Lord seeth not as man seeth for the Lord looketh on. For the

man looketh upon the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

For the man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the

heart. I want to preach him message the Holy Ghost titled Underestimating What's Underneath.

Let's stand to preach this to read our scripture this morning, John chapter

number nineteen, verses number thirty eight through forty. The Bible says that after

this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for

fear of the Jews to be, sought Pilot that he might take away the

body of Jesus, and Pilot gave him leave. He came therefore and took

the body of Jesus. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first

came to Jesus by night and brought a mixture of mrr and aloes about one

hundred pound weight. Then took the body of Jesus and wound it in linen

cloths with the spices, as the manner of Jews is to bury, which

she is saying that latter part of verse number forty with me as the manner

of the Jews is to bury. I heard several of our dear preacher,

brethren, laity, people of my precious faith that are in this building this

morning, you testified concerning the celebration. You said, I thanked the Lord

for his birth, for his crucifixion, his death, and his resurrection.

God put it upon my heart to point out to this people that this generation

has forgot about the burial that has been on my heart for several days now.

And I want to encourage us to add the word burial and our testimonies

of praise. When we thank the Lord for his birth, his death,

his burial, and his resurrection, you'll have a proper understanding of what the

burial means. Here after a while, may we pray, Heavenly Father,

we love and we praise you. We thank you for your goodness, We

thank you for your mercy. We thank you for the opportunity to be gathered

together with people of our precious faith. I thank you for my brothers and

sisters in this building, of those worldwide, those that are laboring through love

and blood and sweat and tears for you the kingdom and for your glory.

The glory is dying. I pray that you would anot this diservant set of

God at my mouth and help me to say the things that you would have

me to say, nothing more or less than anoint the ears of this people,

that they might hear what the spirits says unto the churches this morning through

the preach word of God, through your words, not of my words,

but your word. We pray God, let the sayings go below the shoulders.

I pray that I'm permy saturate the fear of the man, the soul

that being that individual. We pray God, may we depart this place joyfully

and not sorrowfully. In Jesus' name. Amen, as you're being seated to

say, hey, neighbor, do you believe that they bury Jesus and that

he resurrected from the two? I believe it. How many of you believe

it? Our text is found in a New Testament book of the Holy Bible.

Book of John is the fourth of four Gospels. John's gospel certainly argues

for the deity of Jesus Christ, our dear brother in the Lord. Brother

Ray Asher has been here recently, and you will notice that while he is

preaching, he puts great emphasis on the deity of Jesus Christ because he has

come to know that there are certain people within Pentecostal and Holiness churches that do

not believe that Jesus Christ was deity. I am appalled at the idea that

somebody could believe that. I am shocked beyond belief. It's just so disturbing

to think that any professing Christian would not believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.

But John, that beloved disciple of Jesus, the one that stayed ever

so close to Jesus. He argued for the deity of Jesus Christ, and

this gospel. The author this gospel informs us the readers, that life itself

comes through Jesus as both an eyewitness and ear witness to the three and a

half year earthly ministry of our Lord. John did not hesitate to declare Jesus

Christ as the son of the living God. He did not hesitate to declare

Jesus as a lord. He acknowledged the authority that Jesus Christ had over every

living creature. I believe that, don't you believe that? Why would we

be celebrating his resurrection this morning if we did not believe him to be resurrected

God. So as both an eyewitness and an ear witness to our Lord's ministry,

John did not hesitate to declare Jesus Christ to be the son of God.

This man witnessed the miracles performed by our Lord. In the last few

years, we have witnessed many notable miracles done by none other than the hand

of our God. I'm so thankful that nobody in this building is attempting to

deny the obvious that God is in the midst of his people, and that

God is greatly helping his people. So this man John witnessed so many wonderful

things that were done by the Lord. He saw the Lord's actions during passion.

We he had no problem at all with bearing witness of the fact that

Jesus is the Christ, the son of the Living God. He believed that

people could receive eternal life by believing in his name. The story of the

passion of Christ, his crucifixtion, death, burial, and resurrection are in

fact the high life of Saint John's gospel. This part of the ministry of

Christ was also highlighted once more in the Apostle Paul's epistle to the Church at

Corript in first correct in chapter number fifteen and verses number three and four,

we find this writing, for I delivered unto you first of all that which

I'll also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,

and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day

according to the scriptures. He loved us, he died for us, he

was buried for us, and he was resa corrected for us. The beloved

apostle Paul referred to the saints at corript to look at the scriptures, and

he said, notice these three points. According to the scriptures, Paul depilot

cost of grace in three points. Point number one, Jesus Christ was crucified,

or he died for our sin. Point number two, he was buried.

Point number three he rose again on the third day. There is a

lot of teaching and preaching on our Lord's birth. We rejoice every time we

celebrate what it's called Christmas Day. We celebrate the birth of the Lord.

And there is a lot of preaching on the birth of our Lord. We

also hear it preached and talked a lot about the crucifixion and the resurrection.

But why do so many people overlook this second part of three parts of the

Gospel. I believe that his burial has been overlooked. Look at your neighbor

and say, hey, neighbor, did you know his burial has been overlooked?

Why often the characters Joseph and Nicodemus, who we read about in our

Golden text are overlooked as well. I'm preaching a message the Holy Ghost title

underestimating the Underneath. It seems to me that people feel like these biblical characters

are underneath all of the other notable biblical characters that we read about, and

because of this, they are often overlooked. It seems to me like the

burial itself has been so overshadowed by all of the other wonderful things that took

place during the events of the Messiah's life that people forget to focus on the

burial. Now, you know, if you bury something after that, you

have done that it is underneath something else. I was looking up the different

of these two words and underestimate and underneath. To underestimate is to estimate something

to be smaller and less important than it actually is. To be underneath is

to conceal something, to put it underneath something. Oh, come on now,

you will remember the prophet Isaiah was a preaching and while he was preaching,

we find the record of some words that he's spoken to his fellow brethren.

In Isaiah Chapter number fourteen and most number nine, he said, these

words of Hell come beneath is moved for THEE to meet them at thy coming.

What that means to me is and I want to share it with you,

that Hell is moved. It trembles excitedly to receive her the dead,

souls, her lost and undone without time, just as a serpent shivers and

trembles exuddenly, what it sees her, it's old. They're dropping her a

right into her. It's cater It trips me excite. I wanted a lost

person under the sound of my person today to know that Hell is chomping.

I te fulture, and it's smooth beneath it more feet. I don't want

a teary too load, but I want you to know. Hell is an

opera place, and I got a teary on this topic. Tim to love

it? Did I say that? But Hell is an opera place and it's

to underestimate what is underling? Can you know where who lives? It is

we don't serve God, it will be nothing for him to stamp you and

stop you with Hell. Oh come on, I'm trying to preach to you.

Are serving the Holy gainst title, You're underestimating what is underneath? Well,

we know that God created Hell for the devil and his hitchmen. What

third are the angels of heaven were dispatched to occupy that region called Hell.

They were sent out of Heaven. You will go to where God sent you,

said to try you Godhead, and that will be your inhabitation. I

want you to know that a lot of times preachers talk about the keys of

death Hell and the grave being taken from the lucifer. But I want you

to know that God never gave up the keys to Hell. God has always

been in control of Hell. The temple is not in control of hell.

Hell is beneath I think because God put it there. And I want you

to know Jesus got to the key to death. That's what he went to

get. What's the key to death? You'll understand her this a little bit

more as we preach. But so many people they own underestimator and overlookal what

is underneath the burial of Jesus Christ has been so underestimated, has been so

overlooked. Bellis Samuel how on the burial seemed to have been married by so

many other things. Chose up and look at Diva, sir, by so

many great men and women of God have been overshadowed and overcome her. Are

you in this feeling this smiling really like you're overwhelmed. You can overcome her

if you want to. You feel lifeful, You're little, you feel liking,

you're nobody, You're in the shadows of somebody great. I want you

to know your neighbor may be underestimated. What is underneath her? Your man

to be chosen. You need to be looking at myself and to you and

Paul and Chrod and Towdness, and come on now they cannet their hand on

you. They can wonder who are you? What is your life consisting of?

What do you mean to the Kingdom of God? It's coming up you.

There's God care about you? Yes, sir, what a thousand times?

Yes, sir. I want to appreach to you this morning about the

burial of our moory and about to bury of yourself. We burying yourself.

It's not nothing matters telling you it is to the kisser the w's your father,

cless that it is not good to bury your simple with sorrow and to

bury your self who disturles captain and the burry your simple who wants the diurniflicans,

you mustn't leave what God mass who you are? I cover as to

Joseph and Nicodemus seemed to have been overshadowed by so many great men and

women of God. But I want to preach to you this morning that the

barrier of our Lord was very significant. But you should not be burying yourself,

and you should not be burying your neighbor to the church. Say,

amen, I want to preach a little bit on these silent soldiers, namely

Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. I desire to preach a message at the Holy

Ghost titled Underestimating What's Underneath? Do you feel like your brother or sister is

underneath you in any way? Do you feel like they do not measure up

to your standard? Do you feel like they do not meet your expectations.

I want to preach to that underdog this morning at his feed and overwhelmed and

overshadow, to tell you that there may be something covered you up that I

feel like that God is going to undercover her overcome. There's some things that

are hurting you. I feel like God is going to her uncover her some

things that have covered you up. I feel like God is gonna repeal some

great streets and great powers and great abilities in you alive. They've set it

timing again. You cannot judge a book cut, but it's covered. I

know not to be true. I looked at a lot of books, and

when I looked, I took cover. I thought that book was stuffing.

I thought that book was not interesting at all. But as I may be

a new read a book that I thought would not be interesting, I found

it to be one of the must interesting literary pieces that I've ever read that

I want you to know that this book we call the Bible, the cover

is dad. The cover is basic. That don't true under estimators under me

take to novel diagnos There is power. I'm no working power in the presence

wh of time. You should not under estimator. They're going to the law

thank God this morning to get a love for his love. It something the

head truth buried behind these covers beneath. If you look at your copy of

the Sacred Writings, you will look at it and you'll see it's just a

basic book according to appearance. There's nothing fancy. There's no great graphics on

it's cover. There's no great lettering. It simply says or it doesn't Holy

Bible. When out my Bible, especially if I'm going to be preaching with

it, I like for it to say holy Bible on the front of it.

Here is a Bible that belongs to another preacher. If you'll look at

the front of this book and the back cover of this book, you will

not see the words holy Bible. It could easily be mistaken for this little

book note book that I preach you out of this morning. This is nothing

more than just a journal with some lines on it and some pages in it

that I write my sermon notes in and refer to a little bit while I'm

preaching. But you know what, I don't care whether it says Holy Bible

on the cover are not There are many people that find it disinteresting. But

what is underneath that covering or unsearchable richish of the Lord. Literally it is

removing the cover on the tumor Christianity. It is literally breaking the seal on

how our lyric canswer. It is literally refeeling the mind the christ. It

is breaking back the carnal nature. It is breaking baca, the carnal mind

that it is putting on a spiritual mind. Oh what come online? Too

many people are against generation have underestimated what is underneath another binders. They threw

it out of our school offers, and now even in the bed corner we're

dealing with the contention my shooning. They throw it out of our care passets,

now, if they only knew the power of the One of God.

it was fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was crucified between two

Isaiah, said, by his strips, ye were healed. Brother Philip,

I tell you how I feel about cancer. I'll tell you how I feel

about diabetes, a renal failure, and all this heart disease, all this

stuff that is riddled and played the holiness of people. By his stripes,

you were kid. With his stripe from here they whipped that body open,

but they underestimated what was underneath. And that whip a seller through the air

and made impact with his back. They did not beat him thirty nine Thompson,

he did not perceive thirty nine less. They beat him until they had

no more shriek left to beat him. The Jews beat people forty times Saint

one but to rome and execusingers. They beat him until trod blood begin to

be strolling, not spaghetti. All around, in every angle, in every

And you know what's the underestimating the power of God time, what's underneath plans?

Don't know how to union body, But there was talk blood, the

the believer believes is just the beginning. Come on now, when our Lord

He's always been the authority over hell. It listen to me, pay attention

to what you hear preach. He's always been the authority over hell. But

this time he proved that He is the authority over sin and death. This

is why I thank God that Christ can live inside of us and give us

victory over sin, and we do not have to worry about the stem of

death. I've heard my grandmother say recently. She said those were the good

old days, talking about a time before she began to lose her mind.

She repeated over and over, exaid, but those days are over now,

brother Jeremi. She was taking the best part of her life. It's behind

her. But Jesus came and he was crucified. He had the death and

spiritual had come that he was buried. Oh, brother Jerom, no,

you're getting this right here this morning. But Jesus showed us so it does

Bible said he it is a very beautiful thing. It's processor in the sight

because of what the burial represents. This is where Apostle Paul was saying,

if any man be in Christ, that he is a new creature. Or

what happened to the old man? Old things are passed away, The old

man is dying. The old man has died, The old man is detained,

the old man is get into the old man is destroyed. If any

man being Christ, he's a new creature. Old things have passed away.

Behold, all things happen to come new. Listen, Siner Preyer. If

we're still living in a dark day, you can look for it to a

new day through Teas of Christ Us died, he was not just lying there.

He was not lawful, nor was he lazy. He was not just

lying there like some of our senators and congressmen and representatives dude at Capitol Hill.

just lying in the tune and doing nothing. Our God was very busy and

They underestimated what was underneath. At this point, hay Hell might have been

moving for the lost souls, trembling exciting it to receive the law souls.

That Hell was not trembling excitedly. When the Son of God came down there,

the land lord, the property owner of Hell, said, Hey,

boys, I just want you to know I've already had the key to Hell,

underestimate my uncle Joseph LaRue. I'm telling you God knows the heart. God

does not look on the experience. I wish I had time to name all

of you. Don't try to underestimate anybody that's in this building of Saint A

Saint divine. I'm telling you the devils in hell. Trimo, one little

a couple of days ago has talked to you about that word forever more.

He's lived in eternity. He's the high and lofty one, and in habits

of eternity. And he does on to say, I am alive forevermore.

Amen. And I have the teaser of hell and the death both. Thank

God. I said, thank God, you're not good. I go to

Hell, and of us Jesus, I said, Elias, he will go

ahead. Why I said, ain't no angel, there's no power, there's

no force. Not the Monica and Jill. It be that cause separate you

from the love of time. The mother holds the kings from the tors Jesus,

heyes, and she'll Hell. Hades and she all words for hell.

Both describe an underworld, a resting place for the deceased human beings prior to

the resurrection of our Lord. Jesus holds the keys to death and Hell.

Jesus isn't only the ruler of heaven. He has authority of death, and

he determines who enters or leaves Hell. Come on, now, the Lord

has unleashed the devil and allowed him to do what he's doing. But God

is the final authority. I said, God is the final authority. There

was no struggle between Jesus and Lucifer. Jesus spent a few days being busy

working under the Earth's service. And you know what he was doing. He

was releasing in prison souls me and like jod me and like Nola Abraham shotrock

better not underestimate what is underneath. Nevercat this or underestimated what was inside.

what's under the surface. Let a lot of people feel to be a little

sometimes when they heard him preach, they said, he writes better than he

preaches. That I'll come home now, and that's true. They just said,

his bodily presence is weak. But when we read his writings, I

mean, when we listen to this goll sprinker, the apostle Paul, there's

no preacher in the world like this but when I come into his presence,

I immediately judge him by what I see on the exterior, and I forget

about what was on the inside, what I felt. Listen, faith is

not in sight. We walk by faith. It is not by sight that

I take my steps. There's a lot of people looking at things wrongly.

They've got the wrong perspective on things. And come on, now, this

man, Joseph ver lethea was used by God to fulfill prophecy. And there's

more to this man. And what meets the eye? What about Dave and

the sweets? Mister israeld. It was said if his peak brothers and first

Samuel, chapter number sixteen and verse number seven. But the Lord said under

Samuel, look not on his countenance or on the height of his statue of

her, because I have her refused him. For the Lord seeth not as

a man. See it come from man looking on the outward appearance, but

the Lord looking on the whole. I'm preaching on her. Don't on their

estimatum. What's underneath him. You see that shepherd going out there, that

may be a baby hard but bring him here. We will not sit down

and feel her present acts. Chapter number thirteen of verse number twenty two,

the writer wrote, I have found David, the son of Jesse, a

man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill my will. Another biblical character

that we found in our golden text this morning was Nicodemus, the Pharisee,

the one who had secretly followed Jesus at a guilty distance, and he visited

him at night. He requested a secret meeting, of private meeting with Jesus.

At night, Nicodemus shows up at the cross with Joseph with Arama,

fila, Brother Jesse, if you would come to the king of my brother.

I want you all to think about this. Joseph and Nicodemus have been

buried by so many of the great Man of God. But here they are

brothers, Jeremiah. They're the ones you're by your cremationists, funeral service director,

or whatever you're called, type manager. See a lot of dead bodies,

you'll understand this. Nobody want to touch a corpse, that precious,

precious son of God, that precious precious son of married. Nobody wanted to

handle that nasty situation. Sounds like some pastors doesn't all their work in progress.

There's such a mess the bloody, gory mess. I'm gonna get himself

dirty. Two very primined rich men, two very very wealthy men come to

the cross. They had been following him at a guilly distance, serving him

in privacy, but now they're going into the presence of pilot. What do

you want, rich man? What do you want, wealthy man? What

brings you here today? You're inquiring about a parcel? I know you can

Joseph comes out with a permit to take him off the cross, and

Nicodema says that you're doing what I think you're doing. Yeah, I'm going

to give it now. Y'all think for me. As they lowered him,

they got that god but on him, they got that broken body on him,

Brother Roquat. To most people, they'd say, he's as good as

gone, there's nothing there. But they didn't underestimate what was undeth. They

knew who he was. I can hear Nicodemus say, that's my Rabbi,

that's my teacher, that's the son of God. We all know it.

Kyle Fas knows that he won't admit it, and he's gonna leave him out

here for the flies and for the buzzards and the coyotes. But I'm gonna

go underestimate what's uther. And they took him to bury him. And Joseph

gonna bury him in my own tomb, where there's never been a man laid.

And Nicodemus trying to got the shuddered and trembling to speaking the words Messiah,

Messiah, because Isaiah prophesied, and I know it all so well that

he will be paired with the weak. Why even though he died as a

criminal, he don't be bared because brothers Jeremiah, no matter how they tried

to scandalize his name, criticize him. Who is this the son of Mary

and the son of a card figure. When it was all said and done,

he was going to be married among kings and princes, just like his

papa David. Let's stand. I want to ask you a question this morning.

You have felt inferior to others, but you are a child of God.

The people of this world will make you believe that you're their doormat and

the devil's doormat. You have no reason at all to feel the inferior to

the people of this world. Nicodemus, the Pharisee, one who secretly followed

Jesus and visited him at knight, helped Joseph take the Lord's body down for

the cross. He wasn't done there. He brought a mixture of spices and

aloes. Are you done with the Lord? Have you reached a stop to

point? Even though the Lord has said I believe in you, Are you

willing to help yourself as the Lord helps you? I don't want to be

found guilty of underestimating what's underneath or what's inside of anyone, any young man,

young woman, boy or girl, mom or dad, anybody that's struggling.

I don't want to be guilty of underestimating what's under youth. I believe

in you. I believe that you have a golden heart. I believe in

you. But you have to believe in yourself. And as Jesus told so

many, take up the bed, walk, go and send no more.

Leave the old man behind, and be a new man. As we bow

our heads right here this morning, is there somebody that would raise their hands

saying, preacher, you preach to me this morning, would you raise your

hand one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,

eight ninetyeen? Every person I felt like I preached to raise their end.

I want encourage us just to find a place to pray. The Lord knows

who you are, who knows you're special. Sometimes to be underneath something is

to be concealed by it, to be concealed by something else. And I

feel like there's some in this world that have underestimated you as an individual,

as a person, as a child of God. They've estimated you to be

something smaller or less important than you actually are. Your child would come,

I say, underestimate whatsover you mean? The liar underestimated the ability the bus

said, Am I a dog, that you would send a little daughter today.

By God, they prove it to yourself, to the devils, into

your pupure, and to your God. To God, you could be any

fact lies up from the ashes day, no matter how much did you speak

of, how often what is said by the giants of good lad underestimated what's

underneath oka simple preaching. Just keep teaching, teacher, Just keep teaching other

day, Just keep from church, just keep trying. I got you in.
