There Is Rest In The Nest - Bro Jeremy Howell 10-27-2024

Brother Nathaniel, First King's chapter number eighteen, verse number twenty one.

Would you read that my brother and Elijah came unto

all the people and said, how along halts you between

two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him, but

if bail, then follow him.

And all the people answered him not a word.

There will never be rest in the nest as long

as you have one wing in the nest and one

wing out of the nest, a desire to remain in

the nest, and a desire to fly away from the nest.

Brother Jesse, Philippians, chapter number two, verse number thirteen. For

it is God which worketh in you, both to will

and to do of his good pleasure. That voice that

you feel speaking in sight of your soul is God

working in you to do his will. To find a

place where you're blessed, a place will call a nest

the place of purpose. Let's stand for the reading of

our golden texts. From Verbs chapter number twenty seven and

verse number eight. The Bible says, as a bird that

wondereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth

from his place. May we pray, Heavenly Father, we love

and we praise you. We thank you for the opportunity.

To be here this morning.

I think that these precious people, I.

Thank you for the joy that we felt, and our souls,

the saints of God saying, as these musicians played with.

The annointing of the Holy One, I thank you Lord

for that.

I thank you for a peace that passes all.

Understand it. God, in the midst of the storm. That

peace that we possess is due to you. I pray

that you would anoint this thy service, that of guard

at my mouth, and help you to say the things

that you would have me to say, nothing more or less,

and anoint the ears of this thy people, that they

might hear what the spirit of God says to the

church this morning, Lord, whether.

To each one or to all of one time.

Lord, whispering to the hearts of the people, I pray

we give you the praise, the honor and of glory

in Jesus' naming, the church said, Amen, as you're being seated.

Look at your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, there's rest

in the nest.

Our text is found in an Old Testament.

Book of the Holy Bible. The Book of.

Proverbs is an instructional for daily living. In it are

many profound truths and hidden gems. It's a wealth of

knowledge for those who are in pursuit of wisdom, understanding,

and truth. I believe this book of the Bible to

be Wisdom's treasure chest. The world's wisest and greatest man,

of course, outside of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

is the author of.

The statements and poems.

Of this book. Not all of them, but most of

the sayings, statements and poems of this book are given

to us by the son of David Solomon.

Every person, especially the child.

Of God, will be benefited by the teachings of this

very gifted man. Most understand the reason for the wisdom

and insight of this wise man. He possessed something beyond

that that others possessed. He had an ability that could

have only came from God. Truly, it was a gift

from God. Solomon had been gifted wisdom by the Lord,

and this amazing gift is something that is attainable and

achievable by every human person.

According to the Word of God.

The great Apostle James, the brother of John, one of

the leaders of the Early Church, again Solomon was the

son of David, and so he would have been an

Old Testament biblical character. But James one of the New

Testament biblical characters, one of the great men of God

that founded the early Church. In his epistle Address and Believers,

people that love the Lord, disciples followers of Jesus Christ,

he penned these words in the first chapter.

And the fifth verse of his epistle. He said, if

any of.

Hugh lack wisdom, let him ask of God that give

it to all men liberally and upbradeth not, and it

shall be given unto him.

We remember the words of our.

Master Jesus, and also of.

The great Apostles, that said, if we ask anything of

the Lord, he will give it to us as long

as it aligns with His will, and as long as

we do not ask commiss and as long as we

do not ask that we get it through selfish desires

and motives, we just receive it liberally and gladly.

Correct.

And so James did not err in this statement that

every person, under the sound of my voice this morning,

is able to possess wisdom. Truly, in this day and

hour in which we live, a lot of people lack wisdom.

And I wish that more people than.

You would go into their prayer clause, or go to

the back corner of the pastor somewhere, or go down

by the river brook and kneel down and just say God,

I lack wisdom, which it gives me more than a handful.

I need a mindful of wisdom.

So thankfully this man possessed wisdom, and he penned at

this proverb that we've read as our golden text. And

as you read James's epistle, I noticed, sister Howell, that

the next verse said that if any man asked concerning wisdom,

let him.

Ask in faith, nothing wavering.

I want you to make a no of that nothing wavering,

for he that waverth is like a wave of the sea,

driven with a wind and tossed for letting not that

man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.

Now I'm preaching the floor.

It is this morning, and you are all too familiar

with waves. You know, the tide rolls in and the

tide EPs out. You know, the tide comes in and

the tide goes out. You know the waves are small

one day and they're large the next day. We know

that we see the boats tossed on a daily basis

right here in the river, the Colusa Hatchie River. I

drive over that bridge multiple times a day, and I

see the results of boats being tossed in the waves

because of the wind.

So what I was thinking on this verse? Recently?

I recalled the verse of scripture that spoke of the

instability of the double minded individual.

And as I open my Bible and begin to read.

This verse, I noticed the next verse was the verse

that came to mind.

I want you to think on the latter part of

that eighth verse.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways,

So there's instability in everything a person with a double mind,

a divided spirit does.

It's clear that the apostle James felt that.

These believers would fare better if they would focus on

their faith in Jesus Christ. A lot of times an

employer is able to desern that somebody's having problems at

the house because of their employees inability to focus. Parents

sometimes realize that their children are struggling because of their

inability to focus on what has taken.

Place at home or in other words, in the nest.

I know that school teachers, we have two or three

among us this morning, and a lot of homeschool mothers

that could say that sometimes a child loses their.

Focus on their school work.

Or the task at hand for that day, they lose

their focus on their daily assignment because they're focusing their

attention on something else, and truly the result of that

is poor grades. You have to be focused on whatever

it is you're doing. If you're building a fence, if

you're training a horse, if you're pastoring a church, if

you're running a business, if you're running a home.

You have to be focused on the task at hand.

And so James, the apostle of the Early Church, one

of the great men of God, realize that if we're

going to build around us, we're recognized as pillars. But

if we're gonna build around us as pillars, this movement,

this wonderful work of God, Jesus has to be the

central figure of the church, and everybody has to give

him their undivided attention. And that's how people they grow

in grace, that's how they mature. Spiritual maturity takes place

because that relationship that that person has when Jesus Christ

begins to develop and grow stronger.

And so brother Jesse.

This great apostle felt as though there were some in

that group of believers that.

Might have been developing wondering spirits.

I remember a certain evangelist within the Holiness of Pentecostal movements.

He told me one time, he said, I have.

Been told that I I have a wondering spirit. And

he said, I've been told that by a senior minister.

He said, Actually, what the man said was I have

a gypsy spirit, which is also the same as a

wondering spirits. You that are familiar with the Gypsies, you

know that they don't want any strings attached to their life.

They don't want to feel like they have a nest.

They like insecurity, they like instability, they like living life

on the edge.

And what he was telling this younger minister, he said, I.

Don't like what I perceive is wrong with your spirit.

I don't appreciate the fact that you're unwilling to settle down.

It troubles me.

And I know that that senior minister was certainly on target,

because I too spent some time with that younger preacher,

and I could tell that his family suffered immensely because

this man refused to allow his.

Family to enjoy rest in the nest.

And so we know for the jestif that that nomadic

mentality is not good. You'll know that teenagers get in

trouble when they get in that newly acquired a vehicle.

Perhaps it was gifted to them, or perhaps they bolted, and.

They get in there and they just drive to be driving.

I feel like.

That's what the Proverbust was saying here concerning this particular

motherly bird. For some reason, this particular bird, this creature

felt like it just needed to fly to fly. There's

a lot of people getting in trouble today because they

just feel like they need to drive to drive.

They just feel restless, uneasy.

Unsettled, and they just have to continue moving along. So

the mother bird must have carelessly ventured away from her nest.

And how many of you know you've.

Seen church people that got some sort of itch that

they could not scratch, and Brother Samuel, they began.

To fly out just to be flying about.

We've heard the old preachers of yesteryear talk about church hoppers,

people that were always unsettled in their spirit, jumping from

Lily padd in this pod to Lily padd and this pod.

But those of you that are here this morning, I

feel like you were sent here by God. You know

as well as Abraham knew that God settled you right here.

God appointed this place as a place for nesting for

you and your family, and.

I thank God for that.

But if there's one or two in this building this

morning this wanting to trade security for insecurity and stability

for instability, I pray that this borness message will help

you anchor your soul, live in mind in spiritual bent rock.

Because you can't afford to be tossed like the wind tosses.

Of bramble bush.

You can't afford to be tossed in the wind like

the wind.

Tosses a piece of trash.

You can't afford to just get in that vehicle and

drive just to be driving about. That's how a lot

of teenage boys get in trouble.

They get something we call boredom, and.

They get an edge that they want to scratch them,

and they drive out into a certain neighborhood and before

you know it, mischief happens, and before you know it,

somebody's been apprehended by the law, and somebody has been arrested,

and a dad and mom comes and.

Asks the question why did you do this? Why did

this happen?

And a young person says, really, I never intended to

pull that trigger.

I never intended to burn that barn down.

I just felt unsettled in my spirit and felt like

I needed to do something. I've heard mothers and fathers

tell their children before, Hey, you need to be put

back in your place.

I've heard them say to their children before.

Hey, you need to stay in your place. I've heard employers.

Tell employees before, you need to stay in your place.

You're getting too big for your riches. You see.

My burden today is perhaps that one or two could

end up drifting away from their special place of divine appointment.

I know what nature demands that a birder gravitate towards

its nest. Concerning the eagle, they say that they made

for life.

Meaning the male and the female.

Are together for life, and they prefer to use the

same nest year in and year out. This tells me

the eagles in choice, security and stability in if you would.

Their marital union, you know what I mean.

And then also in their place of dwelling, they were

careful where they planted their nest, and they were therefore

careful where they planted their young. How many if you know,

the reason why you're here has because God wanted you

to safely plant your young. There's a reason, provide. God

sent us all to South Florida to plant this old school,

old timer to the costal and holiness work down here.

God knew that there would be people that needed a

nest like this.

They needed to come with.

Her, would be freely people when Sincere smiles her, when

a joy, and when treat of their hearts. There were

peace where people could plant their families, after they plant

themselves and say, thank God, I feel like I fell

my place, sir, I feel like her, I fell where

I belong.

That is not to say that there.

Will not come times when the nest will shake. There

will definitely be times that the storms of life will

attempt to turn overturn the nest.

There will be.

Times that the storms of life will try to remove

the nest. But that's not what I'm preaching on her

this morning. What I'm preaching on this morning is when

that mother Murden decides her or that young person decides

her to leave the nest, or to leave her homer,

or to leave the will of God that's been given

to them. There is nothing more wonderfuler than being in

the center of God's real and liven according to divide purpose.

But a Nathaniel would I think.

Of the prodigal son and how he left that Nesta.

It wasn't too long before.

He figured out those people were his friends because her

of his father's money that he was spending. Those people

were his friends because of what he could do for them.

Perhaps it was the stability of his life in the beginning,

the behavior, the characteristic, so all of that was blessing others.

But out of the Nesta.

Evil communications began to corrupt good manners, that people took

advantage of him until.

His spirit change and we find the end of that

story where the prodigal son is sitting in a hog pin.

He's not sitting in the father's house, He's not sitting

in a nest, but he's sitting in.

A hog pin.

I want to tell somebody here this morning. Now, it

is a blessing to.

Be in the nest. In the nest there is rest.

But when you decide to take air fight and to

fly out on the will of.

God and fly offer of radar I'm.

Not saying that God will not know where you're at.

I'm not saying you can hide from God. That I

am telling you, when you get out on the center

of God's wield, you find yourself being vulnerable. And that's

why I'm saying that why would you train security for insecurity?

Every sheep that's ever been caught by a wolf could

Daughter that would be honest with you could say it

Bring your desires and your passions and your appetites back

into the Father's house.

or four he might be running one hundred and twenty

a time that we build it a bigger nest.

I'm not saying that you will always be in.

That job situation that you're in. You will always be

in that marriage situation that you are in, and you

will always be your children's father and your children's mother,

and you're supposed to always be a child of God

in the church said Amen. And that's what the apostle

James was telling these people. You need to forget about

the world, and you need to focus on Jesus. You

need to forget about what some say is the permissive

will of God and getting lessons heaven now and the

other and you need to focus all that in that

I can tell you there's plenty of room for those

that are seeking stamilitant and security, those that are tired

of the storms of this world, the flip floppingess going on.

Trump did not have a chance of re election. But

now they are saying.

That it is highly likely that he will be elected

once more as our president.

That is not to say you ought to.

Become complacent and that you ought to not go out

and vote.

This is no time to set it easier and.

To not do our part. That I want you to

know America is saying we need a rest in the nest.

go this way. I pray to God and there's somebody

coming this way and not going that way. I pray

to God that there's a mother bird that is saying

you know what. I know that the general consensus is

a woman should do her own thing, and a woman

should go out and be independent and liberated.

I too would.

Support such a claim and a cause, I too.

Would say they should not, just like any person of color,

live in oppression in these United States of America. But

one of the problems this country is mamas forgot how

to make your bed, and bamas forgot how to make

chicken and dumples, and mamas forgot how to make homemade

Let me ask you what would happen a pastor turned

into resignation tonight? How many of you would agree that

it wouldn't be too long before the devil came in.

That's what the Apostle Paul said. He said for me

to study, if you would abide in the nest, it's

more needful than for me to fly away and to

go into heaven.

It's true than Apostle Paul. I David could cry and say.

Oh that I had wings as a dove, where I

comply to my high places and escape it all. Listen,

suicide is not an option to be considered. I don't

know where that's coming from right now, but that is

not an option.

That one young man committed suicide recently.

It's in the national news media daily people were saying,

we failed him.

Oh come on, I tell you who did not fail.

Him was a god that had his hand outs tricks

and said just come to the nest. Hollywood can't offer rest.

Celebrity status, can't offer who rest.

The music time that that you're in cannot bring Pisa

that there's something about that good old country church. There's

something about her that not about mine.

There's something about holy there's something about her hourry that's preacher.

Something about it, my Jesus, something that wants resting to myself.

I read where one very prominent woman said we found him.

I can't even recall the man's name, but they said

he went to the top of a multi story building.

After some point he jumped over the balcony. Brother Philip,

that was somebody who seemingly had it all. Somebody who

had it all.

In fact, I remember now the legendary.

I don't say that in a good way, but the le.

Rock and roll singer Ozzie Osbourne, who tries to play

both sides by the way, who at times professes to

be okay with Christianity another time seems to dabble a

little bit with Satanist. Some of the things that the

antics he does certainly is indicative of somebody with a

divided spirits. I don't feel like the man's living exactly

like he should. But his wife Ozsi why Ozzie Osbourne's wife, Sharon,

thank you Hodly Goods for bringing this backup to mine.

She's the one that said, I feel like we let

him down, a young star.

That was timing and their ranks brother Philip.

If you would she probably would have been the mother

How she felt a responsibility for one of their upcoming

stars if you would committed suicide, she said, I feel responsible.

I feel like I let him down.

That's why I'm preaching right here, like i'm preaching this morning.

I don't want to say I feel like I left.

That young person down. I feel like I let that

and go down. I left that widow down. I lot

that hold the persson down. I don't want to ever

speak those words.

Come on, I'm telling you there is safety, and there's

security and there's stabilia being in the will of God.

Jesus felt as though some were developing wondering spirit this

way put this upon the heart of Solomon and James.

Brother Jesse, what do you think about that older preacher

telling that younger preacher who felt like his calling was

to evangelize. What do you feel like that older preacher

was saying. He was telling that younger preacher, you've missed

it because the fact that you're not settled, and the

fact that you don't feel stability and security, and you're

going from church to church to church to church to

beg for offerings and to survive.

You need to settle it in your spirit.

How many of you know God can tell when that

husband and wife are unsettled. God can tell when they

have it fully surrendered the ministry.

It always spoke to.

Me that that young preacher, sister Howe, was never sold

out to full type of evangelism. Sometimes we keep some

things back, but sometimes it's the man, sometimes it's the

woman in ministry. But I've been blessed with a help

me that was somewhat somewhat always supportive in everything.

We did in ministry. I come on, now, are y'all

listening to me, and I wonder you some people struggle

because of the divided spirits.

Do some people struggle and the cake past stability and

security because of the divided spirit.

So we have to fully commit and fully surrender to

the will of God. Don't know that to be true?

Right, There's some people say, well, I'll do it, but

I don't want to do it, and there's some people

in the will of God doing that. I'll do it God,

but I'm not gonna have fun doing it. I'll go

to that altar and pray, but I'm not.

Gonna have fun doing it. Listen to night.

I got saved thirty one years ago. I was sick

and tired of this world sink, and tired of the

spirit of the world sinking, tired of the things of

this world. I sit back there near the back to you,

hearing that preacher preaching. I said, I want what he's got.

I saw that little sister that had big dreven that

Pentecostal power in life, and I said, I.

Want a double portion of that spirit.

You know what, when you get a double portion of

that kind of spirit, you don't have to worry about

having a divided spirit.

That's what Jesus said.

You can't have sweet water and dinner coming out of

the same fountain. You can't have salty and pressed water

coming out at the same job. Everybody who lives in

the bell ought to know that the less fresh water

we have flown out of.

Un contoona, the more salt water from the golfer we have.

The end rest hole is a brackish water, and there's

too much fracast for there. Whirling and held in too

many churches, hit two many families, hit two many minds.

We need them to.

Make our minds up like I did thirty one years ago.

I'm not gonna stravel.

to teach the next week. I'm committed, never.

Know to we commit the God of God and see

In Philippians two thirteen, we read it for it is

God which worketh in you to will and to do

for of His good pleasure.

For his good pleasures.

when I would do good, evil is present with me.

When I would try to do good, there was a

current that was pulling me out, little murden. That's true

that every now and then, because of the wind and

the storm, that little wings would get in a flap.

But you better stay put in the nest.

It is true, young person.

Because of the academic nature and the venturous spirits that

you have.

The adventurous spirits that you have are you'll follow what

I've said.

There are truly things that attracted and enticed the spirit

of Dinah. There are truly things that attracted and entice

the spirit of the prodigal Sun. It is true that

there's gonna be times that temptation comes from an outside source,

and you're gonna feel.

Wind go through your aims.

But whatever you feel that wind go through the wings,

you better wish for that mother.

Hen if you would to come over there.

Jesus told Jerusalem, how often I would have gathered you

under my wings as a mother here does dream.

But you would not if you're gonna jump out for

my the mcmama's wing and purchaseself and the silent there.
