The Hem of Hope - Bro Caleb Roadcap 8-31-2025

Really thankful to be here this morning. Yeah, man, certainly

miss our pastor miss in this up last week fantasis

looking forward to hearing and Tony hearing what the words

Here this morning.

Thanks for the confidence of our pastor laws this here

don here this morning, Matthew and I will be looking

at verses twenty and twenty one. Yeah, definitely, says And

behold a woman which was diseased with the issue of

blood twelve years came behind him.

And touched to him of his garment.

First, she said within herself, if I may but touch

his garment, I shall be whole. Yeah, Jeremiah thirty eight,

we'll be looking at verses ten and eleven. Then the

king come in and even Mealick the Ethiopian saying take

from him to thirty men with me and take up

Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon before he died.

So you bed Melick took the men.

With him and went into the house of the King

under the treasury, and took thence old cast flouts and

old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into

How many would agree with me here this morning that

this woman at Matthew nine and Jeremiah both they found

themselves in a where they needed to be courageous. They

needed to have courage, They needed to demonstrate courage. The

woman she had to press through a crowd in her

condition she wasn't supposed to get.

She had to be great to press through this crowd.

Jeremiah, he found himself in a dark and a muddy

and a filthy and just a place.

Where he truly shouldn't have been in. How many of.

Us, if we found ourselves in these situations, we would

feel as though there would be times sometimes we would

feel us though we're just hanging on a thread of hope.

That's what I want to get to this morning, as

with Rachel, just.

A hem of hope, hallelujah, and a thread of hope.

The Book of Jeremiah is an all Testament book of

the Bible, and Jeremiah is known as a major prophet.

Jeremiah was not always a popular preacher, though, because he

told the people what God said rather than what they

would want to hear.

Our chapter here is during a time where Judah had.

Been disobedient to God and the Hebrews are being carried

away into Babylon, and so Jeremy eyes unpopular because he's

telling them you need to go ahead and go because

you're gonna be held in captivity for seventy years. And

the people, that's all what they wanted to hear. So

the princes and the people, the rulers, if you would,

They came to the king in chapter thirty seven and

they said, King, or the the owners.

Came and they took Cherman and they cast him in

the prison. So we come to.

Chapter thirty eight and they come before the king again

and they say, King, this message is still going forth.

He's in the prison, but people have still heard what

he said. They're still they hated what he.

Said, and it's.

Become a detrimental in our armies. They're not they're not

wanting to go as they did before. They're not wanting

to fight as they did before.

It's become a detrimental and they're not doing what we

think is good.

this man seeking not the welfare of this people, but

the hurt.

In Chapel thirty seven, they had accused JERREMI.

How they threw him prison because they said, you've made

allisions with Babylon, you're you're on their side.

Now we're trying to discourage the people. So they cast

him in a prison. In the prison, and now they're coming.

That's not good enough. Now, these princes, these people, they

want him killed. And if you're the prince, is not

good enough because the message is still going for somehow the.

People are still taking to eat somethingwhat to what he's saying,

and it's not going over with these with these princes.

Verse five and says, this is Eikai. The king said, behold,

he is in your hand. For the king is not

he they.

Can do anything against you. So, in so many words,

this this finalless king, he's finless on we read it

doesn't want the others to know he's taking He could

pledges to Jeremiah, but he doesn't want the holders to know,

I can't stop you. In other words, saying I won't

let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there

I was thinking of the times that I.

Found myself in times passed, where I found myself just

in a place where it seemed like there was onely

that threat of hope.

It's like, how did I get here? Where am I at?

Where do I go from here?

It seems like there's there's nothing to hold on too.

If you study out this dungeon, this hit, it's it's

recorded in my studies that it's a it's a cistern

if you would and so it's a hole that was

meant to hold water, and if you wouldn't, it's rocky, right,

and and so if there's these jagged rocks, and so

even if you were this war going to.

Encourage you, don't let dread snag your thread.

If you're only got a thread, of hope, and everything

around you seems like you're in just a pit of despair,

and you're and you're down in the mire, and you're down,

and all you see is.

A little cread of hope.

And I encourage you this morning, don't let dread snag

your thread, because we see your turmout was and is

in this situation with these jagged rocks.

Right, But these people come and the king gaves orders.

We read that there. The king gave his orders and.

Said, now cats come and pull them out. So then

they came, and they let them these moldy of clothes.

If you wear these moldy rags, these nasty, disgusting things.

And to many people they would say, oh that that's

not convenient. Oh that's not how I would like it done.

Oh that that's not that's not pleasing to me. Right,

But he was already in the mind, yea, he was

already down in a in a bad situation.

You would so what do you have to lose? What

seems like it should the threat of hope, And you're

and you're worried.

Like, hey, that doesn't seem strong enough, that doesn't seem practical.

I would rather a rope of hope. But you're already

in the wood. Do you have to lose when God

has used out? Because I tell you, it may seem

like it's not enough, but if God is in.

It, I will assure you, my friend, that is always

enough him, or how how fragile it may appear at

the time.

So right in the middle of his situation, God was

still working. So this man he comes, he approached the king.

He made me like he had courage, and he approached

the King on Jeremiah's behalf. Now, this man of Ethiopia, Ethiopia.

He had earned his position as a palace official, and

truly he risked his position, and he risked his life

in order to be loyal to God and the Jeremiah.

This morning again, I.

Don't know what.

We all find ourselves in situations from time to time, being.

And someone's finding themselves in sin and in the virus sin,

being in in the sphere of some kind, whatever situation

that is surrounding you, You find yourself in the viru.

If you could just get a hold, if it's a

rope of hope, or if it's just a threat of hope,

if you could just get a get.

A hold of that helm of some kind.

These these cloths, these rotten rags, if you know, when

you talk about cloth costs and rags and.

Those things when they're made, they have a hymn. Jesus

Garment had a hem.

If we can just no matter what, what, where, where

we find ourself, what circumstances we find ourselves, and if

we could just get a hold of that hymn of hope.

And so Jeremiah was taken out of the pit ohever

we have to.

He had to remain in prison. So the king calls

for him and to inquire about what things werenna happen.

The King comes to him again, this is the second

time in the last two chapters, what's gonna happen?

And Jeremiah says, he doesn't change it. He can't change it.

God's already said what's gonna happen? So he tells the

king again, and the King's but.

What about me?

What's gonna happen to me?

And Turnmount tells him, if you will go, if you

will do what God has said, then the Lord will

work favorably and you will not be killed. In so

many words, so again, so I'm thirty one and twenty eight.

We read this word and say, they have good courage,

and He shall strengthen your heart, All ye that hope

in the Lord. If we reverse these sentences around a

little bit, we read that, all ye that hope in

the Lord, if you hope in the Lord, then you

will be courageous, And in being courageous, God will strengthen

your heart. So, in so many words, it becomes a cycle.

You hope in the Lord, then you're gonna be courageous.

When you're courageous, will strengthen your heart. When your heart

you strengthen, you'll hope in the Lord. And it goes

on and on, and it's if we can find ourselves

just get a hold of that threat of hope.

We'll find ourselves in this positive.

Cycle as we're gonna trust more and more in the

Lord and believe in that He is able.

And he once again, don't let dread, which is fear unbelieve.

Now, if you let the dread snap the thread, then

and you find yourself no even God, then you could.

You've got to trust in the Lord. And then Jeremiah

was offered a literal thread of hope.

They own rags, the claus they ties the gad and

they were probably thread worn.

They're old, they're rotten, they're mody, they're.

Nasty, they're trash, if you would, Their guards their refuge,

Yet they're being used to pull Jeremiah out of his mind, out.

Of his situation.

In chapter thirty nine, Jeremiah's hope and trust in the Lord.

It surely ultimately pays off. King Natiganser charge the captain

of his guard that Jeremiah.

Should be taken care of when he comes in, and

even Mielik, the man who went before the king and

who led that campaign, if you would to bring Jeremiah out.

He was also rewarded by the Lord for his courage

and his loyalty. God didn't forget them for their courage. Ultimately,

God made away in a bleak situation of Batlon taken over.

The people being let into it was so bleed.

It seems so helpless, It seemed void of hope. Yet

God still made away for those that chose the trust

in him. Good life for Judah was uncertain and dreadful.

They chose to hold on the hope, no matter how

thin it may have seemed at the time. If we

look back at Matthew, the woman who had an issue.

She put her trust in hope.

And touching just some threat of his garment, she purposed

within herself that she needed her healing, and if she

could just touch the hem of his garment, just some

piece of threat, just some part of him, and no

matter how small it seems, she could just touch some

part of him, then she believed in her.

Heart that she could be being cold.

And then in another place that reads that Jesus felt

the virtue go forth.

He knew when she touched him.

And I believe personally that she went and she testified

about what God had done and what it took to

get there, because we read a few chapters later, I

believe in chapter thirteen that there's a multitude of people

desiring to get to Jesus, and they're saying, if we

can just touch him, if we can just touch the

hell of his garment this morning.

I don't know what your situation looks like. I don't

know what you.

Feel, your hope looks like. But the diameters, if you wouldn't,

might differ.

But God will not put on you more than you

can bear. Anybody.

In fishes, they know there's different pound tests when you're

fishing line.

It can handle different weights. Somebody might be holding onto

a thin thread and they might feel like it's not enough.

The ball might be bended. If you would, it might go.

It's not up. Somebody else might.

Have an anchor rope if you would a hope that

it seems like God will not put on you more

than you had that last morning. God will always go

through a making way. And now again, as of course

that's saying this why I just thought of where I

was at one point and just God's gracing its goodness

when there was times.

When I was like, Lord, right, I'm here.

I want to get here, Yef, that this seems insurmountable,

the pit seems too deep.

we said when we shout, know what we're shouting about,

hope when we run.

It's because verse you said, anyone who knows the hope

that keeps them moving on through trouble days. I could

just encourage you this morning. If you know Jesus, you

know a hope that, no matter how trouble failed your

days are, there's a hope that'll.

Keep you going. For anyone who knows they have.

A future and a hope beyond the grave. Paul said it,

if in this life only we have hope, we're all.

Men most visual, but we can shout, we can hid, and.

We can testify because we know the hope and the

future that we hope it has you.

No matter how deep in the mind this world may seem,

there is a threat of hope.

There is a garment of hope, by head of hope

that we can hold onto and believe that when Jesus

calls us, we're gonna go to a better place. Every

life's a different story how He brought us out of

darkness and into life. We've all got a testimony of

where hope has brought us.

Before you can look back. Everyone has a testimony of

where hope, no matter how thin is seen. I can't

stress them.

No matter how thin it seemed, Hope came through God,

came through your faith in Him, pulled you through. Every

life's a different story, and every breath is another chance

to testify, can I say?

Jeremi went on. He would under out another fourteen chapters.

He would order the repartment messager got a little, just

a little bit longer.

His whole brought him through and he had another chance

to testify of what God wanted to do for the

people at Juda. Can I say that woman she.

Should have been married, she should have been putting around

her as you should have consumed her.

Yet she was able to tell and just a few.

Chapters later her testimony made away for others.

To receive a healing.

How did that help.

Somebody?

This morning?

You may feel like you're holding on by a thread.

That's a saying I've heard, We've made heard before. You're

holding on by a thread. But can I tell you

that thread is a thread of hope. They don't let

dread snag your thread.

Just hold on to that hymn of hope this morning.

If we only need a grain.

Of a mustard seed to move a mountain, then imagine

what just a threat of hope could do in the

life of every believer.

This morning in the center of life, and they are just.

Getting hold of the threat of hope and believe that

they're pit their mind, that there in is not insurmountable.

That God and will bring them out and they will

trust and believe. I will stand here this morning.

Worst of a song Rene is this, It says, is

that you hanging on to afraid and fragile thing. Are

you clinging to the rocks above the canyons of dismayd

reach out for the lifeline. It'll never break it. To

hold fast and don't lose heart, because once again God

will pull you through.

God. When you're hanging by a thread still you can

climb last mountains. They've rock congress. They they're not on,

they're not on rough if you will, They're not very thick,

but they're strong.

They put their trust in something that though the diameter

might seem small, it's strong and a cold Hellelujah that

your hang about threats till you can calm.

Thus Malcolm. So the cliffs are rough and jacking, you

If you should slip and reach yours bottom, you'll find

the hem of his garden. So don't let code of

that last thread of hope. And I doesn't courage a

lot of this morn. Whatever use you're going through, whatever

you may find yourself going through on the head or

life is good at giving us trys.

But if we can trust remember that Jesus, If you

that Jesus is our advocate to God, and he's saying.

Lord, they're down there, they're crying to help.

rotten and nasty rags if you would then tie.

It's not pleasurable, it's not a pleasant, it's not clean.

But humanity already finds itself in the mirus. So we'll

just hold onto that hope.
