  1. We've already said it, but this morning is a special occasion.

  2. We're dedicating baby Nathan. Baby Nathan is the fifth child

  3. of brother Nathaniel and sister Rachel. Their oldest son is

  4. with the Lord, and their three girls are here today

  5. and baby Nathan. Aren't you thankful for the little boy,

  6. Baby Nathan. Heymen, if you have your Bibles, will you

  7. turn with me to the Book of Second Samuel. May

  8. I direct your attention to the seventh chapter. We will

  9. be reading verses number one through twelve. If you're happy

  10. and you know it, say amen, I believe it. Your

  11. faces are showing it. Praise God. It's great to be saved,

  12. to be blood bought and born again. Amen. May we

  13. stand for the reading of the Word of the Lord,

  14. Second Samuel, Chapter number seven, reading verses number one through twelve.

  15. The Bible says that it came to pass when the

  16. king King sat in his house and the Lord had

  17. given him rest round about from all his enemies, that

  18. the king said, unto Nathan the Prophet, see now I

  19. dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of

  20. God dwelleth within curtains. And Nathan said to the King,

  21. go do all that is in thy heart. For the

  22. Lord is with THEE. And it came to pass that

  23. night that the word of the Lord came in to Nathan, saying,

  24. go and tell my servant David. Thus saith the Lord,

  25. shalt thou build me a house for me to dwell in,

  26. Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the

  27. time that I brought up the children of Israel out

  28. of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in

  29. a tent and in a tabernacle in all the places

  30. wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel.

  31. Spake I word with any of the tribes of Israel,

  32. whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, why

  33. bill g me not a house of cedar? So therefore

  34. so shalt thou say unto my servant David. Thus saith

  35. the Lord of Host. I took THEE from the sheep coat,

  36. from following the sheep, to be ruler over my.

  37. People over Israel.

  38. And I was with THEE whethersoever thou wentest, and have

  39. cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and

  40. have made THEE a great name liking to the name

  41. of the great men that are in the earth. Moreover,

  42. I will appoint a place from my people Israel, and

  43. will plant them that they may dwell in a place

  44. for their own and move no more. Neither shall the

  45. children of wickedness afflict them anymore, as before time, and

  46. as since the time that I commanded judges to be

  47. over my people Israel, and have caused THEE to rest

  48. from all thine enemies. Also, the Lord telleth THEE that

  49. he will make THEE an house. And when thy days

  50. be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I

  51. will set up thy seed after THEE, which shall proceed

  52. out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

  53. Praise to Lord. Let's pray Amen.

  54. Heavenly Father, we thank you for the opportunity to be

  55. in your house this morning. I thank you for this

  56. special occasion today. Would you help us as we dedicate

  57. baby Nathan to you. I pray that you would bless

  58. his parents, Brother Nathaniel, and sister Rachel, and his siblings,

  59. and his grandparents and his church family. Would you annoint

  60. this thy servant set of guard at my mouth, and

  61. help me to say the things you would have me

  62. to say, nothing more or less, and anoint the ears

  63. of this thy people, that they might hear what the

  64. Spirit of God says unto the church this morning. We'll

  65. give you the praise and the honor and the glory

  66. in Jesus's name. And the church said, Amen, as you're

  67. being seated, look again at verses number four and five,

  68. the Bible says. And it came to pass that night

  69. that the word of the Lord came unto Nathan said,

  70. go and tell my servant David. Thus saith the Lord,

  71. shalt thou build me in house for me to dwell in.

  72. I'd like to preach a message the Holy Ghost title

  73. Nathan the Negotiator. As most people present today are aware,

  74. we have both a joyous and solemn occasion this morning,

  75. the baby dedication service of Nathan Howell. A couple of

  76. weeks ago, brother Nathaniel and sister Rachel told me they

  77. were very interested in having their little baby boy dedicated.

  78. Brother and sister Howell are dedicated Christians. In fact, they

  79. are devout and as members of the Bethel Holiness Church,

  80. they are very precious to this family, and so are

  81. their children, including this little baby boy Nathan. Already he

  82. has caused our hearts to smile. Looking upon this little

  83. child brings true and pure delight. There's something about his

  84. countenance that is different, and I thank God for that.

  85. I believe it's because of the union of this man

  86. and woman of God, people who are God fearing people,

  87. people of prayer, and people that are committed to the

  88. Lord and willing to dedicate their children unto the Lord.

  89. So when they would do something like that, it's pretty

  90. obvious that God would be glad for them to do

  91. something like that and would bring forth the menifold blessings

  92. that He has upon their family. And I'm glad that

  93. this young couple sees and understands the importance of giving

  94. back to the Lord those precious things that He has

  95. lent to them. For we know that all souls belong

  96. to God. We as parents, sometimes we claim ownership over

  97. our children, and we should. We should assume responsible ability

  98. and ownership of that that God has lent to us.

  99. But ultimately we know that that.

  100. Precious little soul inside of that house of clay belongs

  101. to God. Every person in this building. This morning, the

  102. Sunday School superintendent told me there's about seventy five people

  103. here right now, and amongst these seventy five people. There's

  104. seventy five souls. Seventy five souls of people that will

  105. appear before the judgment seat of Jesus Christ, and Jesus

  106. Christ will sentence them to either eternal life or eternal

  107. damnation because of the actions and the doings that they

  108. do in this life. If they're unpleasing to the Lord,

  109. then they will end up in eternal damnation, But if

  110. they're ways please the Lord, they will end up in

  111. eternal life. So Brother Nathaniel and Sister Rachel understand the

  112. importance of training up their dren in the.

  113. Way that they should go.

  114. The Bible said, if a parent would dare to do

  115. such a thing, the child itself would never depart from

  116. that way. And we have seen children physically depart from

  117. the House of God. And we have seen children that

  118. have been raised up in the House of God somewhat

  119. experienced shipwreck concerning their faith. But we know that His

  120. word remained in their heart, and we know that His

  121. name abode in their heart. And the Bible said, whosoever

  122. calleth on the name of the Lord shall be safe.

  123. So I'm glad for parents that will put their children

  124. right on track and set them forth in a way

  125. that they should go. And I know there's some of

  126. you that have prodigal sons and daughters and your praying

  127. for their return. How important it was for you to

  128. bring them up in the nurture and the admonition of

  129. the Lord. For a space of time, it seemed they're

  130. being very rebellious.

  131. But if you'll.

  132. Pray, I believe God will bring to fruition that very

  133. thing that you determined to do in their life, and

  134. that was dedicate them to the Lord so that the

  135. Lord could have his will in their life. And when

  136. you pray, you pray concerning the Lord's will. The Bible

  137. said that the Lord is not willing that any should perish.

  138. When you're praying for that prodigal son and daughter, or

  139. perhaps that family member that hasn't yet come to the Lord,

  140. it'd be better to pray like this. Father, I know

  141. you'd love to see them be saved. I know Lord

  142. that it's your will, that it be their will that

  143. they serve you. That's the way you ought to pray.

  144. So here this morning, these parents are letting us know

  145. that it is their will, that the will of the

  146. Father happened in this child's life. You may not see this,

  147. but there's a lot of parents today that they have

  148. specific in certain plans for their chill. There's been a

  149. lot of arguments at the family dinner table because of

  150. a son not wanting to run the father's family business.

  151. There's been a lot of arguments over the breakfast table.

  152. At the breakfast not because little Susie didn't want to

  153. be her mother's secretary at the law firm. They wanted

  154. to choose their own course and their own path. And

  155. so Brother Nathaniel and Sister Rachel this morning are not

  156. trying to dictate the path of Nathan concerning all things,

  157. but they are definitely trying to set him forth in

  158. the right direction. They are spinning his little boat around

  159. that adamic nature, and they are pointing him in the

  160. direction of God.

  161. And no doubt, by bringing him to.

  162. Church faithfully, week after week, bringing him to church faithfully,

  163. he will put up his little cells and he will

  164. continue to sell in the right direction. I believe that

  165. these parents holding their hands the best parenting book on

  166. the market, the Holy Bible. It is a parenting book

  167. for dummies, it's a parenting book for the educated. If

  168. we'll look at parenting one oh one this morning. I

  169. want you to look at some examples of others who

  170. did the very thing that brother and Sister Nathaniel Howard

  171. are doing today. It would frighten me to be a

  172. church person and to forego having my child dedicated.

  173. To the Lord.

  174. I wouldn't want fear within me of me dedicating my

  175. child to the Lord, in him taking it from me

  176. to hinder me from doing what God has commissioned and

  177. commanded and mandated me to do. This morning, just before

  178. I left my house, I received a text message from

  179. a preacher that has never preached from me here at

  180. the Bethel Hole in his church, and I've never preached

  181. for him at the place of his pastor in North Florida.

  182. And he's not.

  183. Even affiliated with us. He's not an independent Pentecostal. He

  184. is of a nominal persuasion. And this morning he messaged

  185. me and I could tell he's going through a crisis.

  186. He said, Pastor Howell, this is not a close friend.

  187. This is somebody that has just apparently listened from time

  188. to time, perhaps somebody that we've rubbed shoulders with in

  189. a distant meeting. But he felt this morning to Senate text.

  190. He said, Pastor, HOWE will pray for me and my family?

  191. And then he put down below Job, chapter number thirteen

  192. and verse number fifteen. I believe that was the scripture text,

  193. and I looked it up after I got to church,

  194. and brother stered. It was very heartbreaking and soul stirring.

  195. The words of Job went like this, though he slay me,

  196. yet well, I trust him. And I realized that this

  197. man who has dedicated himself to ministry, and for years

  198. I've heard his family has been very active in ministry.

  199. I've never heard of a time of this man forsaken

  200. ministry or forsaken God. But he's going through a crisis.

  201. Isn't it best to go through a crisis with the Lord.

  202. So we don't know exactly what the future holds for Nathan,

  203. but I believe in the very beginning of his life,

  204. it's important that mom and dad do as they're doing

  205. this morning. So going back to some examples of others

  206. in the Bible who did this very thing, one of

  207. the two examples is that one of the God fearing

  208. woman Hannah. How many of you have heard of Hannah.

  209. She brought her son Samuel to the priest Eli in

  210. order to dedicate or give him back to the Lord.

  211. And two things stood out to me about Samuel, the

  212. son of Hannah and this young boy Nathan, the son

  213. of the Howels, the first one being this both little

  214. the men were long awaited and sought for. I know

  215. brother Nathaniel has an eldest son who is in the.

  216. Glory world with Jesus.

  217. We lost him as a little infant, and I will

  218. never forget the moment he died in his daddy's in

  219. mama's arms. I remember watching their heart break, and my

  220. heart broke as well as their grandmother's sister how their heart.

  221. Her heart broke as well. And I remember thinking, we

  222. lost a little boy today. And as those that were

  223. in the neck you were looking on when we went

  224. to leave, some of them approached me and they said,

  225. I just want to tell you something. Said I've never

  226. seen a young couple behave like this young couple has

  227. behaved through this crisis. And one of the head nurses

  228. she said, there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever

  229. this is a God fearing couple.

  230. And she said, as I watched that.

  231. Baby strug go to breathe, and as I watched that

  232. baby's bloody and organs fell. She said, there was a

  233. peace on that couple and a peace on you and

  234. your wife that passed us understanding. She said, I've been

  235. in this business for a long time, and I've never

  236. seen anything like it in my life. I want to

  237. tell you it pays for us to have Jesus with us.

  238. It pays to have Jesus's lord of our life and

  239. as director of our life. And so we saw the

  240. eldest brother, Jeptha pass, and Brother Nathaniel had big plans

  241. for Jeptha, hundreds of hot wheel cars. He had pulled

  242. out canvasses and had painted pictures, hand painted pictures, and

  243. he had decorated the walls of that little baby's nursery

  244. just so sure that Jeptha would grow up in that

  245. nursery and ask the question, Daddy who painted that picture

  246. of that giraffe, Daddy who painted that picture of that hedgehog?

  247. Daddy who painted that picture of that horse. But Jepsa

  248. never got to occupy that nursery. And I remember after

  249. about a year or two, I remember brother Nathaniel and

  250. sister Rachel finally bringing themselves to dissemble that nursery and

  251. it turned into a washhouse, and they were having difficulties

  252. having children after that point, but deering a service. I

  253. don't like missing them PM services, them, Sunday PM services, them,

  254. midweek PM services, them revival PM services during one of

  255. them revival services. This spiritual couple that wasn't afraid to

  256. follow the patterns and the examples of those in the book.

  257. They were looking for a special gift, looking for something

  258. special from the Lord, and I believe they took an

  259. empty car seat and began to pray in the spirit.

  260. And as the spirit gave utter it's just like Hennah.

  261. As the holy ghosts began to move and to speak

  262. through them, God gave him a promise that a child

  263. would come.

  264. And when that child came, it.

  265. Was little Rebecca, who looked just like her elder brother Jeptha.

  266. It wasn't a boy, And so I watched what was

  267. a blue room turned pink. Okay, So after about a

  268. year there comes another baby, and to everybody's surprise, it

  269. is little Renee, and so the room can stay pink

  270. from while longer. And then after a year and a half,

  271. here comes another little bundle of joy, and the doctor says,

  272. I've got good news and the room goes silent, and

  273. the good news is it's another girl. There was no disappointment,

  274. but there was a dream of having another little boy,

  275. one just like the one they lost, just like the

  276. one that was in the presence of the Lord. And

  277. then just a while back, we were having a good

  278. PM service, you know those that people liked to miss,

  279. and the Holy Ghost was moving, and two of my sons,

  280. brother Nathaniel and brother Jesse, both had special request in

  281. for the Lord. And we know that the only one

  282. that can answer those special requests and grant those petitions

  283. is the Lord himself. It doesn't do any good to

  284. complain to your companion or your spouse, or your minister

  285. or the pastor about it. We just have to turn

  286. it into the Lord. And that's what Hannah did. And

  287. in that service, brother Nathaniel, who had three girls, and

  288. brother Jesse, who had three boys, they turned in their

  289. special request and the Holy Ghost moved, and I remember

  290. saying to them, God has granted your request. It's not

  291. by coincidence, by divine providence. In less than a year's time,

  292. both of them found out, you guessed it, Jesse, He's

  293. getting his girl and Nathaniel got his boy. Only Jesus

  294. can do things like that in the same year, after

  295. the same revival service, after the same word from the Lord.

  296. And so Hannah was one that believed the efforts were

  297. not futile. She had went to church for many years

  298. with her husband, Elkanah, and Penina, the other wife of Elkanah,

  299. had poked and prauded her and persecuted her. And you know,

  300. Elkanah would try to console her and say, am I

  301. not better to you than ten sons? I'm such a

  302. great husband. I'm sure he was. She acknowledged that, But

  303. when she went to church, she didn't do like a

  304. lot of us do, just sit there in the pew

  305. and cross our fingers and toes and hope for the best.

  306. She got down there at the altar, not too far

  307. from Eli, and she began to pray again. I want

  308. to point out point number one. They were long awaited,

  309. long awaited. The miracle didn't come overnight, but the miracle

  310. came nevertheless, So brother Nathaniel's sister Rachel's miracle, their little

  311. boy has come, just as Hannah's little boy came. And

  312. sister how well, Hannah felt the need to dedicate that

  313. baby back to the Lord. Brother Nathaniel, today, I feel

  314. like Samuel's mother, Hannah brought him to the temple to

  315. appear before the Lord because she was a keeper of

  316. her promises.

  317. We want the Lord to keep his promises.

  318. In fact, we comfort ourselves a lot of times with

  319. that scripture that said, the promises of the Lord are

  320. yay and amen. But oh how easy we are to

  321. withdraw things that we said and promises that we may.

  322. We've seen people come to church and pray what appears

  323. to be a genuine sinner's prayer, and they promise that God,

  324. if you'll get me out of this circumstance, in this predicament,

  325. I promise I will occupy and frequent your house. I

  326. promise I will serve you all the days of my life.

  327. And they cry just enough to feel a little bit better. God,

  328. in his great mercy and great grace, he performs a

  329. miracle on their behalf. But you never see him darken

  330. the doors of the church again. Hannah wasn't going to

  331. be that kind of person. She was gonna be one

  332. that would approach Eli again and she would say, I

  333. have come to do exactly as I had promised, and

  334. she reminded Eli as she walked into the House of

  335. the Lord. I am that woman that prayed to God,

  336. that one that you misunderstood, that one that you supposed

  337. to be drunk, that one that you supposed to be

  338. a woman of promiscuity in blile, that had just somewhat

  339. stumbled into the House of God and just fell into

  340. an altar and was babbling.

  341. I am that pure Vanilla.

  342. Gray, a blue ribbon, genuine, virtuous woman of God, that

  343. wife of Elkinah, the faithful servant of the Lord. And

  344. I am here to do that that I promise I

  345. would do, because God granted unto me the desire of

  346. my heart.

  347. The Bible said.

  348. Eli was nearby as she petitioned the Lord for the

  349. little boy. And there are about seventy people in this

  350. building this morning. You were nearby when brother Nathaniel and

  351. sister Rachel began to petition the Lord for another child.

  352. And you witnessed the birth of sister Rebecca, as God

  353. allowed that conception and that delivery and that birth. Praise

  354. God for that. But here we are now down the

  355. line with this little boy. And first Samuel, chapter number

  356. one of verse number twenty seven, we read her words

  357. to Eli for this child. I prayed, and the Lord

  358. hath given me my petition, which I asked of him

  359. years ago as an evangelist, I would tell people, when

  360. you pray, pray specific, be pacific, just like blind Bartimaeus

  361. was specific. He said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

  362. So I know that brother Nathaniel and sister Rachel have

  363. been content with whatever the Lord has given them. Sister

  364. how and I have five sons and one daughter, and

  365. we were most content with what the Lord gave us.

  366. But there does come a time when you get specific

  367. and say, God, I'd like to have a manchild, or God,

  368. I'd like to have a daughter. And that's what the

  369. Bible said Hannah did. She said, the Lord hath given

  370. me my petition, which I asked of him. I feel

  371. like she asked for a manchild. So the Bible says

  372. she had been in bitterness of soul because of the

  373. provocation of Penina and because of her barrenness. And do

  374. you know the cause of her barrenness. There wasn't some

  375. mishap that happened in the early stages of adolescence. There

  376. wasn't some mishap that happened at the time of her

  377. birth with her for till it, there was no kind

  378. of mishap, if you understand what I'm saying, no accident

  379. that caused this barrenness. The Bible said, God had shut

  380. up her womb. And sometimes God allows things to happen

  381. so that we will petition him properly. Not only should

  382. we petition him properly, we should petition him passionately.

  383. The Bible said.

  384. The effectual, fervent prayer the righteous man of aileth much.

  385. There comes times in services when we can say, God,

  386. would you heal my kidneys that are not functioning properly?

  387. Not just heal my body? But God, would you you

  388. heal my kidneys? Not Lord, just bless me according to

  389. your will. We pray that bless me according to your will.

  390. But God, it'd be nice if I could have a

  391. baby boy, or if I could have a baby girl,

  392. or if I could have a child. If I could

  393. just have a child, I'd be fine with whatever you

  394. give me. You pray according to his will, and you

  395. let the spirit of God lead and guide you in

  396. that prayer. God knows when you need a boy. God

  397. knows when you need a girl. God knows what you

  398. need when you need it. You just have to get

  399. in the spirit and let faith do its work. And

  400. when faith does it work, the seed of the miracle begins.

  401. Oh come on now, I hope you're hearing me here today,

  402. Praise God. I pray for the loss to be saved.

  403. I never say God, send me an old man. God

  404. send me a young man or a person tattooed from

  405. head to toe, but there have been in my life.

  406. While praying according to his will, God, I know you

  407. want to save the sinner.

  408. That's why you sit your son. You love the world

  409. so much, you want us.

  410. And then he lets me know in the moment of

  411. the spirit praying through me, He's gonna send somebody tattooed

  412. from head to toe. Just like the time we were praying,

  413. us said God, my boys need a wife's. I didn't say, God,

  414. send us a few black heads, a few brunettes, and

  415. a few red heads.

  416. I remember just praying God by boys need wives.

  417. And then as praying according to His will, the spirit

  418. began to speak and I realized I was praying, God,

  419. bless them red headed girls.

  420. You're gonna send us.

  421. And people visit this church and they say, I've never

  422. seen in any church of any denomination affiliation persuasion, especially

  423. not an independent Pentecostal hole in his movement, a church

  424. full of so many red headed people. But Bethel remembers

  425. that night and I got up after God heard my petition,

  426. and I said, I don't understand it.

  427. But while I was praying for souls and praying.

  428. That God would send good girls to my boys, God

  429. said He's gonna send some redheads to the beth of

  430. Holiness Church and Sister Wood.

  431. And it was out of our control.

  432. We didn't even know where there were redheaded people at

  433. but God knew. And in the process of time, Low

  434. and behold they'd meet somebody was red headed. Low and

  435. behold this family come down, say we feel that God's

  436. led us to your church, and we'd look at the characterpsy.

  437. Yeah, I believe that.

  438. And we've visit countless churches and there's not a redhead

  439. in the congregation, which you come to a little small

  440. country church in LaBelle. Because God was mindful of the redhead.

  441. You know, God was mindful of Hannah, and he knew

  442. He knows you need the Holy Ghost.

  443. That bearing us.

  444. He knows you need to be fruitful it's part of

  445. his plan to be fruitful and multiplier. He knows you

  446. want to have children. He knows pastors want to have sheep.

  447. He knows he wants his church to prosper. He wants

  448. us to be in good health. He wants you to

  449. be well abled body to win the loss. He wants

  450. you to have the strength you need to go out

  451. there and evangelize and open air ministry. God wants you

  452. to be able to do these things. God wants you

  453. to have a functional family. God wants to allow your

  454. dinner table to be blessed with little fruits of the

  455. vine popping up everywhere.

  456. Praise the Lord.

  457. Lo children are in heritage of the Lord, and the

  458. fruit of the womb is his reward. So Hannah's got

  459. a good request, and you know what it's answered. And

  460. here he is, little Samuel, Little Samuel. I asked of

  461. him this request. He guaranted my position, my petition. So

  462. the Bible says she had been in bitterness of soul

  463. because of the provocations of Panina and others, and she

  464. wept sore.

  465. She wept so as she prayed.

  466. She didn't mope, and she didn't pow on the shoulder

  467. of Elkinah, and I did not see brother Nathaniel and

  468. Sister Rachel mope around here and power and try to

  469. draw attention. But there were certain times during services that

  470. I could tell them too would go take each other

  471. by the hand, and they would pray and say, God,

  472. I thank you for our sweet girls. And if you

  473. give us ten more girls, that's going to be wonderful.

  474. But if you don't mind, we'd like for there to

  475. be another little jep there around the house. And at

  476. some point the Lord granted that request. And the Bible said,

  477. the Lord looked upon the affliction of Hannah, and he

  478. remembered her, and he gave her a manchild. And when

  479. she received that manchild, she said, I will give him

  480. unto the Lord all the days of his life, and

  481. there shall be no razor come upon his head. And

  482. it's evident to day that brother Nathaniel and Sister Rachel

  483. have not taken the Nazarite fowl, because little Nathan doesn't

  484. even hardly have any hair on the top of his head. Amen,

  485. he's not a Nazarite.

  486. Amen.

  487. The second example of the Bible. The second example in

  488. the Bible of a child being dedicated is when Joseph

  489. the carpenter and Mary brought Jews brought Jesus to the

  490. temple for his dedication. As the second biblical example that

  491. I found, and there's others. Every Christian knows Jesus was

  492. the long awaited Messiah. So Samuel was long awaited, Jesus

  493. was long awaited, and Nathan is long awaited.

  494. Praise the Lord.

  495. I think about that hotwill's collection that brother Nathaniel had

  496. when Nathan was born. Over the period of six years,

  497. brother Nathaniel continued by in hot will cars and I

  498. think it was nearly a owls and cars had been

  499. bought over the period of six years.

  500. As an act of faith.

  501. That the Lord, as job said, does take away, but

  502. he also gives. And when the Lord's given, and when

  503. the Lord's taken away, as long as we're saying, Blessed

  504. be the name of the Lord. That's what that precious

  505. minister told me today. Since the witness the shortest text

  506. message I've ever got in my life. Pray for me

  507. and my family though he slaved me, yet well, I

  508. trust him, and I witnessed this couple trust in the Lord.

  509. The second thing that stands out to me about Jesus

  510. Samuel Nathan, besides them being the long awaited sons of

  511. God fearing people. Is this Their parents desired the very

  512. best in the life of their child. They want the

  513. Lord to use their child for his service. Heihelujah, Praise

  514. the Lord. I don't believe that inside a brother Nathaniel's

  515. heart is a desire to raise up the next bull

  516. riding champion. I don't believe there's a desire in sister

  517. Rachel's heart to raise up the next NFL quarterback. I

  518. believe their desires.

  519. Are pure.

  520. Concerning this child, being very important and instrumental in the

  521. work in the house of God. Samuel became a great

  522. prophet in Jesus, was the prophet of prophets and the

  523. prince of preachers, the savior of the world. What about Nathan, though,

  524. the son of Nathaniel Howell, Well, he hasn't lived his

  525. life yet. It's undetermined what he will be. But his

  526. parents have put him on the right path, and they

  527. gave him a good name. The Bible said, a good

  528. name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and

  529. loving favor than silver and gold. So they gave him

  530. the name of the prophet. In Nathan, they gave him

  531. the name of the prophet Nathan. I remember just before

  532. Nathan was born, the parents did not know the gender.

  533. And the entire time that sister Rachel was carrying that

  534. little baby, brother Nathaniel would say it's a boy, and

  535. people would say, Hi, do you know it's a boy? Said,

  536. I just feel it, and somebody inquired a little further,

  537. said what do you mean you just feel it? Well,

  538. one time I was praying, I'm almost certain God let

  539. me know it's a boy, And so they wouldn't let

  540. the sonographer tell them the gender of the child. We

  541. come right up until the time of its birth, and

  542. we get a few services in just before the baby's born,

  543. And in one of them services, I remember alluding to

  544. something that had happened to me that morning.

  545. Before the service.

  546. As I was waking up, the holy ghosts began to

  547. pray through me, and I started praying like this, Lord,

  548. would you touch Rachel, Rebecca, Renee, and Ruth. And then

  549. the next words I prayed was, Lord, would you touch

  550. Nathaniel and Nathan. And then the Holy gush brought to

  551. my understanding that the first letter was the same and

  552. the women of that household and at the first letter

  553. of the first name would be the same in the

  554. men of that household. And that was the spirit talking.

  555. And then the flash after I had a shower and

  556. was leaving the house, I got to think it. But

  557. wait a minute, his first born son began with a

  558. letter J, and so I thought, well, there was nothing

  559. to all that. But just like hed, I started pondering it.

  560. The more I pondered on it, the more the fire

  561. got to burn. And the more I meditated on it,

  562. the more I realized God is in this, and God

  563. is trying to reveal to me the gender of the child,

  564. and not only the gender of the child, but the name.

  565. So why is that going on?

  566. Because there's a little mommy named Rachel that's praying God,

  567. would if you show pastor the gender and the name

  568. of our child. And so that morning I came to preaching.

  569. While I was preaching, I told that story. I just

  570. told and my sister Rachel had said nothing to anybody,

  571. and she went home and she told Nathaniel. She said, well,

  572. the Lord has let us know we're having a boy.

  573. Sometimes all you got to do is just pray and

  574. ask God, say God, if you won't show me, would

  575. just show me pastor, God, if you won't speak it

  576. into my heart, would just show me the answer in

  577. your word. Will you help me to search a word

  578. to find the answer. Just speak to me, Lord, and

  579. the Lord will speak to you. I'm telling you, all

  580. throughout this situation, we've seen nothing but the hand of

  581. the Lord, and I thank God for that. And that's

  582. what we need in our children's life. We need the

  583. hand of God in their life. And that's what you

  584. notice about the life of Samuel, and of course the

  585. life of Jesus, and now the life of Nathan. From

  586. the very beginning, God is active and God is involved.

  587. Now Nathan's name means a gift from God. So Nathan

  588. the prophet was definitely a gift of God to the

  589. nation of Israel, but not only the nation of Israel,

  590. but to the sweets armist of Israel, David. People don't

  591. realize just how precious of a man of God Nathan was.

  592. He is often overlooked, and when people think of Nathan,

  593. they think of that man that walked into the very

  594. throne room of David, put a bony finger in the

  595. face of David and said, you are the man that

  596. committed adultery. But you know what, I see Nathan in

  597. a whole different light now after praying and seeking God

  598. for a sermon's specific men, you won't find this in

  599. a minister's manual.

  600. You won't find this baby.

  601. Dedication service a ceremony in a minister's manual. It's not

  602. cookie cutter. And that's what I want you to know

  603. this morning. There's nothing cookie cutter about the life of Samuel.

  604. There's nothing common or ordinary about the life of Jesus.

  605. There's nothing common or ordinary about the beginning of the

  606. life of Nathan. So Nathan is a precious man. He's

  607. a precious friend of David. I mean, concerning godly characteristics

  608. and attributes, you would check every box.

  609. This is a guy that was allowed to.

  610. Hang out in the very throne room of David and

  611. to come and go as he pleased. Now, not just

  612. anybody has granted those kind of privileges. How many of

  613. you believe you could just walk into the White House

  614. and tell security I'm here to see President Donald J.

  615. Trump.

  616. Do you think David grant you your request and your

  617. petition allow you to go in there and give him

  618. a word from God.

  619. Well, Nathan is such a man.

  620. He likes Samuel is able just to walk right in

  621. at his wom and tell David what God said. But

  622. God puting Nathan in the kingdom for such a time

  623. as this. I want to tell you God gave Nathan

  624. not only to David. God gave Nathan to David's kingdom.

  625. And that's what I feel like concerning this child Nathan.

  626. As long as his parents continue to bring him up

  627. in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and as

  628. long as they keep him on the straight way. You know,

  629. all of God's promises are conditional. But I want you

  630. to know the promise that I have received from God today.

  631. The promise that I received from God today is that

  632. this and Nathan right here, this little baby boy, if

  633. he doesn't do anything foolish to end his life, if

  634. he doesn't do anything foolish to serve the devil, as

  635. long as he serves God, he will be a man

  636. of influence, and he will be a man of intervention.

  637. I've been in Pentecostal and holding his churches for about

  638. fifty something years. I've never seen Nathan the prophet like

  639. I have since i've studied old Thank.

  640. God for little baby dedication ceremonies. Amen.

  641. So Nathan's in the kingdom planted by God. Well, the

  642. Bible said that, David, it's in our text. One time

  643. David got to looking around after conquering all the territory

  644. that could be conquered, and brother Jesse, he wants to

  645. become a builder. The military general wants to become a builder.

  646. And he tells his buddy, Nathan, his confidant, his friend,

  647. the prophet, the preacher in the house, if you would,

  648. the chaplain of the palace. He tells his buddy, I'm

  649. gonna build a temple. And Nathan says, that's great, that's wonderful.

  650. You just go ahead and do that, buddy, David, just

  651. have at it. If anybody can build God a house,

  652. it'll be you. And the Bible said that Nathan went

  653. to bed that night and while he's sleeping, God doesn't

  654. wake up David. God doesn't wake up Samuel, the prophet.

  655. God doesn't wake up any of the wives of David.

  656. You need a man of God in your life. And

  657. that's what Sister Rachel likes, Sister Hannah believed, and I'm

  658. talking about the hand in the Bible. They believe they

  659. could go to the House of God and hear from God.

  660. You need a real.

  661. Genuine man of God in your life, and not everybody

  662. has that. And the Bible said, how shall they hear

  663. without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they

  664. be sent. Nathan's name means a gift from God, Sister Woods,

  665. somebody must have prayed for this little preacher man, and

  666. God Almighty planet him in the sweet Somist of Israel's kingdom,

  667. right there in the palace the negotiator. So the negotiator

  668. is sitting there on the end of his beddingess. He says,

  669. I know that God just told me to go tell David,

  670. do not build that house. Do not build me a half,

  671. do not build that temple. So Nathan goes in there

  672. by divine intervention and he tells David, don't you build

  673. that house. And while David's receiving this disappointing news, the

  674. spirit of God comes on Nathan. And Nathan is the

  675. prophet that lets all of us Bible students know about

  676. the dividic Covenant. While he's in there giving David disappointing

  677. news about you can't put your tool belt on and

  678. you can't build God a temple. Because you've been a

  679. man of war. Somebody else is gonna have to do it.

  680. One of your descendants will do it. Then the spirit

  681. of God goes a little further and he encourages David.

  682. But I want you to know, there shall never be a.

  683. Person that doesn't sit on your throne. And through your.

  684. Lineage will come of the tribe of Judah, the king

  685. of kings and the Lord of lords. Nathan the prophet

  686. the Bible sent a new Testament, and God gave pastors

  687. and apostles and preachers and evangelism and teachers for the

  688. perfecting of the saints. And David, you know, he said,

  689. I'm so excited about going to church. David wasn't the priest.

  690. David wasn't the pastor. He said, I'd be all right

  691. just being a doorkeeper in the house of God. David

  692. had a preacher, and David had a preacher he could

  693. have confidence in. And David had a preacher that he

  694. would listen to. Hey, if he'd lived in this day

  695. and hour, he'd have canceled sunbelt rentals. Are y all listening?

  696. David would listen to the preacher. What I'm saying is

  697. this man Nathan and negotiator, was such a person that

  698. people would listen to him. He had an intimate relationship

  699. with David and David's son Solomon. As I considered the

  700. verses of scripture which shed light on the nature and

  701. the character of Nathan, I came to an understanding of

  702. how imported and how influential this man was to the

  703. work of the Lord and the works of the kingdoms

  704. of David and Solomon. As I meditated on these verses

  705. of scripture and pondered this man's actions, I saw him

  706. in a way that I had never pictured him until now.

  707. It's true he was a prophet, a seer, one who

  708. would foretell and foretell concerning the words and the workings

  709. of God Almighty. And everyone had noticed this about the

  710. prophet Nathan. He could hear from God. But what a

  711. lot of people didn't know about him was he was

  712. a man of intervention.

  713. Just like your pastor.

  714. You feel like that's the one for you to marry,

  715. but your pastor's been praying and he comes to you

  716. and says, hey, there's just something off about that person.

  717. A lot of people don't like intervention. They don't like

  718. somebody intervening they don't like somebody coming as a mediator

  719. between two parties. You see this man, Nathan, he was

  720. a negotiator. It's a person who is involved in formal

  721. discussions between people who are trying to reach an agreement.

  722. David saying God, let me build you house, and God

  723. saying no. And Nathan's standing between God and David. And

  724. that's what I'm trying to tell you. God wants to

  725. do with this little child right here in Nathan. God

  726. wants to use him as an ambassador, as a delicate,

  727. a mediator, a man of intervention. God wants to use

  728. him to give a word that is fitly spoken to

  729. his peers in the youth group when everybody would make

  730. a bad decision and he would speak up and say,

  731. you know what, guys, it's not a good idea to

  732. do that. We all need men and women of intervention

  733. in our lives, whether we're willing to accept that or not.

  734. In Second Samuel, chapter number twelve and verse number one,

  735. we find that David had made a mistake. It was

  736. a very bad mistake. And Nathan's, no doubt, probably in

  737. the same bedroom brother Jesse, and probably occupying the same

  738. prayer chamber brother Nathaniel, and God speaks to Nathan and

  739. tells him something about his buddy David, and so Nathan's

  740. got to go to David, and he walks in there

  741. and he gives this beautiful parable and you all know

  742. the parable that Nathan gave David. And then David just

  743. plays along and acts like he doesn't understand what Nathan

  744. is saying. And then finally, you know, we've heard people

  745. talk about this situation, and I've even probably alluded to

  746. it in this manner over the years preaching come here,

  747. brother Beaufrey. But we feel like Nathan went in there

  748. and just rebuked David and scolded him and screamed and hollered.

  749. But now I kind of believe it was more like this.

  750. Nathan put his arm around David and said, buddy, you're

  751. the man the Bible said. A brother is born for adversity,

  752. the Bible said. And it came to pass that night

  753. at the word of the Lord caming and Nathan saying,

  754. go and tell my servant David. Thus saith, the Lord,

  755. shalt thou build me in house for me to dwell in.

  756. Thank God for the divine intervention of Nathan. Originally Nathan

  757. said one thing, but after he prayed, he told his

  758. friend something that his friend didn't want to hear. And

  759. that's what I feel like I need in my life.

  760. I need preachers that will speak the truth and love,

  761. not always telling me what I want to hear. And

  762. I feel like that's why a lot of you have

  763. moved from your places unto this place, because you want

  764. to hear what God has to say. And you know

  765. what's amazing, syster how is when Nathan spoke to David

  766. about him not building the Lord of House, Nathan done

  767. it in such a way that Nathan dropped his plans

  768. to do what he wanted to do like a hot potato.

  769. So God told David through Nathan, you're not gonna build

  770. a temple. Solomon's gonna do it. And it doesn't stop there.

  771. Old Nathan, there's not a whole lot said about him

  772. in the Bible, but there are some things said about him.

  773. After David gets old in years and he's sick and

  774. he's laying upon his deathbed, ad in Niga decides that

  775. he's going to crown himself king. And while that sinister

  776. scheme is going on, he's got that diabolical plot being executed.

  777. Nathan catches word of it. I don't know if he

  778. overheard some talk in the corridor of the palace. It's

  779. some very important you've got the right man at the

  780. right place. That you got the right man nearby where

  781. he can hear the conversations of the devil and the

  782. enemies of your soul. And Nathan foiled the plans of Adanaija.

  783. He went to Bathsheba. That's a familiar name, ain't it.

  784. And Nathan went to Bathsheba and he said, Bathsheba, I

  785. need to tell you something. Ad Nija is fixing the

  786. takeover the kingdom. Adanija is a half brother to Solomon.

  787. And he said, we need to get Solomon, and we

  788. need to take him, and we need to crown him king,

  789. and I need to prophesy over him, and I need

  790. to annoy him. And that's Nathan, folks, Nathan who single handedly,

  791. by divine intervention, save the kingdom. Not only did Nathan

  792. intervene in the life of David, he intervened in the

  793. life of Solomon. He intervened in the kingdom of Israel.

  794. But this is more powerful. He intervened in world history.

  795. Because Solomon would be come the greatest king this world

  796. has ever known, all because of a little preacher man

  797. walking through the palace at the right place at the

  798. right time, using the wisdom and the love of God,

  799. and a man that's the negotiator. I feel the Holy

  800. Ghost in this place, and I know this is a

  801. baby dedication ceremony, but I want to take just a

  802. brief moment to tell somebody in this building, probably a

  803. young person, you need praying people in your life. You

  804. need a praying minister in your life, and you need

  805. the Holy Ghost in your life. We're fixing a start

  806. this revival tonight. Brother Philip will lead off tonight. I

  807. will try to be back in time. Then Brother Nathan,

  808. you'll be preaching Monday night, Brother Jesse Tuesday night, Brother

  809. Samuel Wednesday night. Will probably go right on with different

  810. preachers if the Lord leads. But I have been made

  811. more aware in studying for this baby dedication service that

  812. I need divine intervention on a daily basis in my life.

  813. And I say, God, if you need to use somebody,

  814. use me for somebody to use them for me.

  815. Let's stand.

  816. Amen, praise the Lord. I wonder if the singers could

  817. come up and sing praise the Lord. Amen, Brother Nathaniel,

  818. Sister Rachel wild y'all come forward at this time.

  819. Please with baby Nathan. He's adorable, so cute.

  820. Amen.

  821. Brother Nathaniel wrote this song for their baby boy.

  822. All the ways it down settled the bid, the boot

  823. of hold, powered by the wind, for God said he

  824. would send a little boys.

  825. Despite the mountain.

  826. Gods.

  827. Here we are today to dedicate him back to God.

  828. Lord maids his hands give him string to say, after

  829. holiness and.

  830. Truth, it's swearing.

  831. Me to do.

  832. And made.

  833. It's hard to reach those in the dog maids his

  873. scripture that I read Second Chronicles, chapter number twenty nine

  874. and verse number twenty five. The Bible says, and he

  875. set the levites in the house of the Lord with symbols,

  876. with psaltries, and with harps according to the commandment of

  877. David and of God the King seer, and Nathan the prophet.

  879. And the Levites stood with the instruments of David and

  880. the priest with the trumpets. So apparently Nathan had something
