  1. Okay, then turn with me to the book of Psalm.

  2. May I direct your attention of one nineteen and verse

  3. number thirty seven. Psalm Chapter number one hundred and nineteen

  4. and verse number thirty seven. Brother Nathaniel Colossians, chapter number

  5. three and verse number two. Colossians Chapter number three and

  6. verse number two, and Brother Jesse John chapter number three

  7. and verse number sixteen. John Chapter number three and verse

  8. number sixteen. Have but you appreciated the preaching of these

  9. brethren of late telling you what has been wonderful, wonderful

  10. praise the Lord. Brother Nathaniel, Colossians, Chapter number three and

  11. verse number two, My brother, set your affections on things above,

  12. not on things on the earth?

  13. Amen? Is that hard to do? Is that a hard

  14. thing to do?

  15. To set your affection on things above and not on

  16. the things of this earth? It is for some, not

  17. for all, But it is for some, And I feel

  18. like it is for some in this building. They have

  19. a hard time setting their affection on the things above.

  20. They'd rather set their affection upon things below. Okay, Brother

  21. Jesse John, Chapter number three and verse number sixteen.

  22. For God so loved the world that he gave his

  23. only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

  24. but have everlasting life.

  25. Aren't you thankful that the Father didn't lose focus upon

  26. you and all of the people within humanity, that the

  27. Father stayed or remained focused upon us. He saw us

  28. in our lowest state, and he saw us in our

  29. greatest times of need. He didn't lose focus on us,

  30. even though we had put a distance between us and him.

  31. I want to preach a message. The Holy go was

  32. titled the Treasure Trove of Things Above, The Treasure Trove

  33. of Things Above. Will you stand for the reading of

  34. our golden text Psalm chapter number one, nineteen, verse number

  35. thirty seven. The salmist wrote, turn away mine eyes from

  36. beholding vanity, and quicken thou me in thy way. Turn

  37. away mine eyes from beholding vanity, and quicken thou me

  38. in thy way. May we pray, Heavenly Father, we thank

  39. you for the opportunity to be in service today. We

  40. miss beloved sister Cheryl Harrison. Lord, we know that she

  41. is rejoicing in Thy presence. For to be absent and

  42. the body is to be present with the Lord. We

  43. thank you that brother Dwayne Harrison is here with us today.

  44. I pray that you would give him strength and comfort

  45. him in a very special way, and comfort this church family,

  46. for she was very dear to us, and we will

  47. miss her greatly, but we look forward to being reunited

  48. with her one day. I pray that you to know

  49. at the ears of this thy people, and let them

  50. have a guard set upon the entry of those ears.

  51. Lord.

  52. I pray God that they would hear the words of truth,

  53. that they may be spoken from the words of thy

  54. servant God. I pray, Lord, set a guard at my mouth,

  55. and help me to say the things that thou would

  56. have me to say. Nothing more or less. We pray

  57. that the Spirit of God would help us in this

  58. place in a very special way. We'll give you praise

  59. and honor and glory, and may we depart this place

  60. joyfully and not sorrowfully. In Jesus's name, in the church

  61. said Amen, Looking again at our text Psalm one nineteen

  62. and verse number thirty seven, turn away mine eyes from

  63. beholding vanity, and quicken thou me in thy way. Our

  64. text is found in an Old Testament book of the

  65. Holy Bible. The Book of Psalms is a collection of

  66. Hebrew writings from various authors. In this collection we find prayers, poems,

  67. and psalms. Look at you and say, hey, neighbor, did

  68. you know the Book of Psalms is a collection of prayers, poems,

  69. and psalms. In the Hebrew song Book, we can find

  70. details concerning the various experiences of the nation of Israel,

  71. the Israelites. There's information concerning the creator of those human beings.

  72. There is information concerning the creation of the Creator, and

  73. there's information about the Israelites throughout their national history. God

  74. has a chosen people today, just as he did during

  75. those times. God had a chosen people. Again, God had

  76. a chosen people, and God has a chosen people today.

  77. Those of you that know a little bit about the

  78. Abrahamic Covenant, you know that God promised Abraham that Abraham's

  79. offspring would be a chosen and a very special people.

  80. And we know that Jews are a very special people

  81. as well as Gentiles that have been adopted into the

  82. family of God. And so since the days of Abraham,

  83. God has had a chosen people. And during the time

  84. before Jesus Christ arrived upon this faith of the earth,

  85. they were awaiting the arrival of the Messiah. Again, the

  86. nation of Israel. The Israelites were awaiting the arrival of

  87. the Messiah. And just as the Israelites were expecting him,

  88. we are expecting the Messiah to return any day or night,

  89. with great anticipation and much excitement. We are looking forward

  90. to the return of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  91. We know that that group of people that had been

  92. looking for the long awaited Messiah reject him when he

  93. made his appearance. How could someone who had been watching

  94. for him for so long overlook his appearance and his arrival.

  95. How could somebody overlook the announcement of his appearance and

  96. his arrival. We know that John the Baptist, the cousin

  97. of the Messiah, was doing everything he could do to

  98. be the voice of truth that heralded the arrival of

  99. the Messiah, but people seemingly overlooked it. How could they

  100. do such a thing the same way people today are

  101. overlooking the signs of the times. We know that we

  102. are nearing the time of the Lord's return, And so

  103. just as they had looked for their long awaited Messiah,

  104. he came.

  105. And after he came.

  106. In that set in spiritual darkness, even though they saw

  107. great light, they rejected him. And I feel that there's

  108. a lot of people sitting in pews in churches today

  109. overlooking the signs of the times. We are living in

  110. the very last of the end time. How many of

  111. you believe that? So I'm looking for his appearance. I'm

  112. looking for his arrival. And in recent weeks we have

  113. heard the Holy Ghost as John did announce a promise

  114. of his appearing. How could we, like these Jews, look past.

  115. The Jesus Christ of the Bible.

  116. How is it that people sitting in these pews today could

  117. overlook the second person of the Godhead. How is it

  118. could people in this building look past the extended arm

  119. of God and look over that hand that has been

  120. extended or reached out to them to offer help and assistance.

  121. I suppose in the days prior to Jesus christ first advent,

  122. they were busy doing other things. We know that in

  123. the times of Noah they were given in marriage. We

  124. know that they were celebrating that. We know that they

  125. were having a great time. They enjoyed the pleasures of

  126. this life even though they were temporal, and they overlooked

  127. the judgment hand of God. They also overlooked the other

  128. hand of God that had been extended as an opportunity

  129. to help them escape the wrath of Almighty God. Simply stated,

  130. those people were not paying attention to the signs of

  131. the time. They were not paying attention to what the

  132. Spirit of God was saying unto the church.

  133. And I have put it in my.

  134. Spirit recently that there are people of this generation, some

  135. of which are in this building, not all or in

  136. this building. Some are out there this morning somewhere else.

  137. But they are not hearing what the Spirit of God

  138. is saying unto the church. They're not aware of the surroundings.

  139. They're not alarmed at all. They're unconcerned. They are dangerously distracted,

  140. and they are overlooking things that are forthcoming.

  141. Again.

  142. The world population during the time of Noah overlooked the

  143. extended hand of mercy and the other hand of judgment

  144. of Almighty God. But nevertheless, judgment came. And I want

  145. you to know here this morning that you better set

  146. your affection on things above and not on things on

  147. the earth. Again, I'm preaching a message the Holy Ghost

  148. titled the Treasure Trove of Things Above. It has been

  149. said you cannot hit what you do not aim at,

  150. and when I looked at the definition of a treasure.

  151. It is a valuable discovering all the value of an

  152. arc of bull Russia's Moses's mother could say, all the

  153. value of an arca built of go toward. The family

  154. of Noah could say, all the value of Uncle Abraham,

  155. the family of Locke could say, all the value of

  156. a holiness preacher preaching at the Bethel Holiness Church. And

  157. a congregation that has used to hear might say, but

  158. for those that are losing their focus, that Noah is

  159. down there a little ways building a boat that will

  160. be used to the saving of his household. Or for

  161. those that are sitting in a pew overlooking the fact

  162. that the preacher has stirred in his spirit, and that

  163. the Sunday school teacher has stirred in his spirit and listens.

  164. Sermons are going forth, and people are not seeing what

  165. they need to say, and they've got.

  166. Ears that are dull of hearing.

  167. Oh, that God would give them an ointment of ourselff

  168. that they might be able to see the signs of

  169. the times, and that they would unstopp or unplug their

  170. ears and hear what the spirit of God is saying

  171. to the church, and I suppose the psalmist that pinned

  172. this lengthy psalm someone nineteen had a little bit of

  173. an understanding of the nature of men, or how easily

  174. we are distracted. I wonder how many people listening to

  175. this message this morning have found yourself distracted. You can

  176. talk to any businessmen, entrepreneur, sports star, celebrity, athlete, banker, oh,

  177. come on, homemaker, or father or mother, and they would

  178. tell you that in order to be successful, you have

  179. to have a laser focus. I can tell you that

  180. Abraham had a laser focus on the will of God

  181. for his life. When he heard the Holy Girl speaker

  182. into the corridors of his soul, it was not just

  183. a voice bouncing through each chamber of his heart.

  184. It was the voice of God. And he got a

  185. hold of it.

  186. And he knew it was a treasure trope, something that

  187. he better get a white knuckle grip on, something that

  188. should reprogram and reset his mindset.

  189. And it was something that he had to get a

  190. hold of.

  191. And it caused this man, Abraham, just look for a

  192. city that have foundations whose builder and maker is God.

  193. All that we had the laser focus of Abraham, all

  194. that we had the laser focus of Noah, even though

  195. he was persecuted verbelieving and physically.

  196. For building an arca.

  197. They come on that were supposed to into the storms

  198. and the floods of the world. There were people that

  199. would say, it's never reigned here much less flooded, and Noah,

  200. with a laser focus and a determination, continued with that

  201. message of the mallet. Over the time that mallet may

  202. contact with some board, somebody heard it echo through the neighborhood.

  203. That Noah was laser focused.

  204. He had a white knuckle grip on the treasure trove

  205. of things above. So again Abraham was looking for a

  206. city that have foundations, this builder and make them this God.

  207. Abraham might have felt like her it was an earthly

  208. kingdom that the Messiah were sit upon at the spirit field,

  209. Son of God would sit upon.

  210. The throne horive that we know.

  211. The time would prove some thirteen to eighteen hundred years

  212. later that when Jesus came, these people did not have

  213. a focus on.

  214. The fact that the Messiah was.

  215. Walking upon this planet that he created. They overlooked to

  216. the Son of God. I said, they lost their focus

  217. on things that mattered the most. They did not pay

  218. attention at all to the virgin born son of God.

  219. They overlooked to the signs that have been given by

  220. their own prophets.

  221. They overlook to all.

  222. In the numerous prophecies, had it been accorded and docummented.

  223. And even though every one of them was being fulfilled

  224. one day after another, somehow they lost your treasure trouth

  225. those things above. I remember hearing the song some years

  226. ago and the lyrics went like this, don't lose her

  227. view for the old rugged Cross, for if you do,

  228. your soul you'll be lost. I'm preaching the sun.

  229. Here to day. If you are not hitting what you are.

  230. You thought you would hit, it is because you have

  231. not aimed yourself at it.

  232. I said years ago.

  233. If you want to go to the cross, so your

  234. heart talking to the foot of the cross, and troll

  235. of your heart.

  236. If you want to go happ to the celestial city.

  237. To your heart, across to the proligate line. Your heart

  238. will lead your body to the so Leicester city. Follow

  239. your heart. Will come on now, for where your heart is,

  240. where your treasure will be.

  241. Her soul will of the rain who lost his bride.

  242. I'll tell you the best thing where that the rain

  243. can do.

  244. Is that a laser focus her sister, Sheryl.

  245. And imagine in his mind his sister Cheryl is standing

  246. at the polygator. He's saying, the rain, don't be dangerously

  247. distracted her rain, her loser vision to the old rigicons

  248. the rain, nor loser your vision of heaven.

  249. I can't hear this morning that.

  250. The better of Holiness Church, we'll have her more refined.

  251. Her more did in the more tuned in. Whew, that's heaven.

  252. After the departure of rs Sis Sir.

  253. Amen again, it has been said, you cannot hit what

  254. you do not aim at. The successful husband can tell

  255. you that if he focuses upon the things that matter

  256. most to his wife, he will live a happy life.

  257. The successful entrepreneur can tell you that if he focuses

  258. on the needs of the customer and satisfies those needs,

  259. he will end up leading a successful life. You can

  260. talk to a pastor, and a pastor, by God's grace

  261. that has been successful. He can tell you if you

  262. will make it about others and never about you, and

  263. if you will be selfless and not selfish, and if

  264. you will be a servant and not one looking for status,

  265. remember my pastor of yesteryear, he had something on his

  266. vehic call. It was the emblem of the Church of God,

  267. and I'm not judging him for that. And besides that

  268. emblem of the Church of God, he had a member

  269. of a clergy. And I know that sometimes you have

  270. to have certain stickers or logos on your vehicle in

  271. order to maybe get the red carpet rolled out for.

  272. You had a hospital.

  273. But listen, I don't have to have a sticker on

  274. my vehic call that says a member of clergy in

  275. order to walk through security and tell them as I

  276. walk away, I'm here to see a sheep of my food.

  277. I'm here to help somebody that belongs to my congregation.

  278. If you want to be a servant, come on now,

  279. I'm telling you you will get a laser focus on

  280. the needs of others. I said, if you want to

  281. be a servant, you will see the treasure, troupe.

  282. And things above.

  283. When I first got here twenty years ago, I could

  284. not have said that there were a lot of a

  285. bethelot so to speaker that were over yonder that I heard,

  286. but a Philip a little while ago, as they stood

  287. there behind the sacred desk. Her started naming up to

  288. about ten and then he stopped her. People that used

  289. to just sit on that pill you're sitting on. People

  290. that used to anchor a corner in this building, people

  291. that used to stand there in the amen corner. I

  292. tell you that that's what caused you to focus more

  293. than you ever had before on your homegoing. I'm looking

  294. for it, just seeing those that have gone on before us.

  295. What a reunion that will be. I believe it's Noah,

  296. this building, the arc. A lot of times Miss Noah

  297. would go out there her so with them boys and

  298. asked him a now, could you take a break? Could

  299. you stop for a little while, could you have a

  300. little back to eat? And knowing what's a the storms

  301. are ruling, but knowing will thou see it? He said,

  302. But I know God told me a storm is coming. No,

  303. come on now, who is a heaven?

  304. A gain? And there's a hell the sun?

  305. You might not feel the flames of hell laughing at

  306. your feet this morning. And if you lose your focus,

  307. you will begin to feel you're drawing on this world,

  308. and he will everruly leads you to the flames offire

  309. found in an awful place the devil's hell Sabraham had

  310. a laser focus on things above, a celestial city. It

  311. wasn't just a spirit filled man ruling a spiritual kingdom

  312. upon this earth, which Jesus Christ will one day said,

  313. on his throne that's been called the Throne of David.

  314. He'll sit upon his throne and he will rule.

  315. Thank God for that.

  316. Abraham, he saw the treasure trove in things above. Noah

  317. saved eight souls, that's all. How many people lived during

  318. the days of Noah. Many many drunken people, many and

  319. drunken stupors, many celebrating weddings, many feasting, a lot of reverie,

  320. a lot of debakri, a lot of sin going on

  321. on every hand, imaginations that are evil, wickedness in people

  322. through and through, Brother Philip, I'm telling you betrayal, lying spirits,

  323. evil spirits, iniquity, gross and grave sins on every hen.

  324. And Noah knew I better build this ark and I'm

  325. gonna go.

  326. To a place of safety. And I'm telling people.

  327. In this beauty here this morning, you better not lose

  328. your focus on him as so many have done before you.

  329. And someone nineteen and thirty seven looking again how a

  330. go and text the Bible, turn away mine eyes from

  331. behold and vanity. That word vanity literally means things of

  332. no value, things of temper value, fleeding, things that do

  333. not that all really mean anything.

  334. We know the Bible set beauty is vain.

  335. You want to know why beauty is vain because after

  336. the age of forty, you start looking at yourself and

  337. a mirror differently, and you realize you're not gonna be

  338. beautiful forever. I tell you, get to the age of

  339. sixty or seventy, and every young person's beautiful. You know,

  340. when you were fifteen and twenty and twenty five looking

  341. for that special somebody, you were very picky, were you're not?

  342. I mean, the.

  343. Simplist of details mattered. You were so vain. You weren't

  344. worried about what was on the inside. You were worried

  345. about what was on the outside. You weren't worried about

  346. being equally yoke to. You were just worried about her

  347. being compatible on the exterior.

  348. But as you get older, I'm telling you, there's some people.

  349. In this building right now that could tell you there's

  350. no such thing as an ugly young person. For the

  351. most part, there's a few exceptions to the rule. The

  352. sister reading. We know as we get older, we look

  353. across the congregations, we looked throughout wal Martin, and we

  354. can say truly being younger was a blessing from Almighty God.

  355. And David said, I have been young, and now I'm old.

  356. And David talked about some things that has seen and

  357. some things that he had written. Used, I tell us

  358. some things that I've seen. I've seen a lot of vanity.

  359. I've seen a lot of vinglory. I've seen a lot

  360. of selfishness. I've seen of her who who locked her

  361. a stitch that just sends up into the nostrils of

  362. Almighty God. Or what I wanna tell a handful of

  363. people this morning is turn away your eyes from the

  364. hold and vanity, and you'll notice the words of the Psalmist.

  365. He did not say I will turn away mine eyes

  366. in one place. He did say, I will walk within

  367. my heart, within my house, with an upright heart. I

  368. will set no wicked thing before mine eyes. But here

  369. he's singing a different tune. There's some of you. You

  370. tell me all the time, I'm gonna do better. I'm

  371. not gonna do this. Ever, again he send me the

  372. same text message. He send me the same text message,

  373. you send me the same text message in me the

  374. same text message. I wonder if the Psalmist has said,

  375. you know what I said, I will walk within my

  376. household with enough bright heart. I said, I will sit

  377. no wicked too before mine eyes. That's a good thing

  378. to say. But here is someone nineteen and thirty seven.

  379. He's asking God to turn away with his eyes from

  380. beholding vanity. He's asking God to clicking him in God's way.

  381. And that's what I'm telling you here today. Like Noah,

  382. Roy Abraham, Rock the Samis, like David, like Peter, you

  383. need to ask God to open the eyes, help your heart.

  384. You need to ask God to crick in your stead.

  385. Ay man, Sister Molly, how long have you been here?

  386. March eleventh? Since March eleventh? This is what May eighteenth

  387. a little over too much. I believe it was three

  388. or four days ago. She text me. She said, Pastor,

  389. while you were exhorting, she said, I felt something to

  390. come over me from the top of my head to

  391. so on my feet. And she said, what I just

  392. kept feeling my spirits say, was he is speaking the

  393. words of truth. He is speaking the words of truth.

  394. I know Sister Molly ain't talked to Sister Crystal about this.

  395. But when Sister Crystal came from South Georgia, we didn't

  396. know her. She wasn't doing good spiritually. She suddenly certainly

  397. wasn't playing around and playing games with God.

  398. She meant business.

  399. But she come down here to visit some people and

  400. ended up visiting our church. And she said when she

  401. heard the exhortation that particular night.

  402. She visited, she said something to hold of her.

  403. She said, I felt something from the top of my

  404. head to the soul of my feet, the sord.

  405. This man is preaching the truth. Listen.

  406. I never said I'm preaching the truth. I never quoted

  407. the scripture the Truth shall set you free. That was

  408. a quickening of the spirit. And that's what the Psalm

  409. has to saying here in the latter part of our texture,

  410. quicken thou me in thy way, quicken thou me in

  411. thy way. Order man's steps or ordered by the Lord?

  412. I tell you, it's not just any man's steps or

  413. ordered by the Lord. That's a good man that has

  414. been clicking by the spirit of God. Oh, thank God

  415. for the quickening of the spirit of God. Before I

  416. ever received the Holy Ghost, I knew what it was

  417. like to receive a quickening of the Holy Ghost. And

  418. I'm telling you, if you feel the quickening of a spirit,

  419. who want to say, thank God, praise the Lord, Hadelujah,

  420. Oh God, teach me thy ways. But so many start

  421. out well and they end up running well, but then

  422. somebody hinders them. As the biblical author wrote, you did

  423. run well? Who did hinder you? Who got in your way?

  424. Who distracted you? Get the imagery of somebody that began

  425. a marathon and that started strong, and somebody that ran

  426. well for the first few laps, and people bent toward

  427. distracting them, kept going by, kept going by, kept going by,

  428. and they had that laser focus on the finish line.

  429. Their heart was set and their heart was fixed that

  430. I'm gonna finish, and I'm gonna finish well. I may

  431. finish on my hands and knees, but I'm gonna finish

  432. this race. But there's people on the sidelines that hindered them.

  433. There's people on the sidelines hurt them, And eventually they

  434. were dangerously distracted and deterred and lost their way. How

  435. did the Jewish leaders and Israelites overlook the compelling evidence

  436. of Jesus was their long away to Messiah. The crucifixion

  437. of our Lord by the Jewish leaders as evidence for

  438. us to see. They rejected the evidence that he was

  439. King of kings and Lord of lords. Many, not all,

  440. but most overlooked the miracles that he performed. They disregarded

  441. his great wisdom and the knowledge that he had concerning

  442. the sacred scriptures. They didn't seem to notice his concern

  443. for the sick, the disease, and the press. Some simply

  444. felled a threat to their positions. Some ft a threat

  445. to their status. Some didn't want to lose their upper seats.

  446. Some didn't want to stop praying their long prayers. Some

  447. didn't want to trade in their linked to Rabbi Ropes. Oh,

  448. come on now, They didn't want to lose at Us

  449. and become a servant. Simply stated, a lot of people

  450. turned their eyes away from him. Come here, brother Philip,

  451. could you imagine Jesus approaching them. Truth himself has approached them,

  452. Truth himself has spoken the word of God, God Incarnate.

  453. He's standing there, and rather than looking at him like Nicodemus, did,

  454. rather than looking at him like Joseph of Arimathea did,

  455. rather than looking at him like Peter did. Oh, Peter

  456. told him thou art the Christ, the son of the

  457. Living God. You know how Peter reached her that determination

  458. and maintained his salvation is because he learned the listen,

  459. have you better not take your is of off of Jesus.

  460. What happened to Peter when he was on the boat

  461. and the storm of life came?

  462. Happened to Peter when that natural disaster came?

  463. What happened to Peter when that storm on the sea came,

  464. when the winds beat against the sea, and the sea

  465. responded with waves that were lushing out in anger. What

  466. happened when Peter beginning to sink, he took his eyes

  467. up of Jesus, I said, he took his eyes off

  468. of Jesus. But as long has he had his eyes

  469. or on the treasure trove of things, Abode, I said, that's.

  470. Lone has he had his eyes.

  471. On the things above. Some of you need to stop

  472. her looking at the storm and look at the arc.

  473. Some of you need to stop looking at your pastor

  474. and look for that city a half foundation. Some of

  475. you need to stop looking at at your trouble and

  476. the storm has set your eyes. Oh Jesus, I feeling

  477. in the bottom on the soul today. Better get to

  478. laser focus on the things that matter. If you're gonna

  479. hit the parly gates, who better aim at the parly gates,

  480. I said, If you're gonna hit the poly gate, w

  481. better aim at the pearly gate.

  482. Amen.

  483. Jesus can raise the dead and services nowadays, and people

  484. are totally distracted from the fact that Jesus is working.

  485. Jesus can cure cancer in services today, and people are

  486. totally oblivious to the fact that he's working in the

  487. midst and they say things like he's working in our

  488. midst too.

  489. Hey, brother Samuel, preach to us.

  490. About them rejected replicas them chief imitation as the hold

  491. the girst said, Oh, come on now, simply stated, a

  492. lot of people have turned their eyes away from him.

  493. Let that sink in.

  494. A lot of people have turned their eyes away from him.

  495. Could you imagine if a spouse turned their eyes away

  496. from their spouse and started looking at another what would happen?

  497. Eventually there would be something tragic happened. Is that not true?

  498. Jesus said, no man, having set his hand to the

  499. plow and looking back is not fit for the Kingdom

  500. of God. Could you imagine a mother turning away from

  501. her little baby boy, Brother Jesse preached to us about

  502. Haygard that had been sent away by Abraham and Sarah.

  503. And you know what, she got to the place she

  504. couldn't take it anymore, seeing Ishmael suffer the way he

  505. was suffering. And Brother Jesse, you spelled it out for

  506. so well. You said, she ended up having to turn away,

  507. not that she wanted to, but the suffering was so

  508. great that she put him in a place of shade,

  509. and she kind of just went and laid in the

  510. desert dunes and was about to die, Brother Jesse. She

  511. just didn't want to see the awful thing that was

  512. about to happen. The Bible said, can a woman forget

  513. her suckling child? Sister Route, I don't understand how a

  514. woman can go into a rest area bathroom, squat down,

  515. and bring a child into this world and put it

  516. in the toilet and leave it there. I don't understand

  517. how they can put it in the waste basket and

  518. walk away with that baby crying I don't understand that.

  519. Brother Nathaniel Old.

  520. I can tell you is they have set their affection

  521. on something blur. They have set their affection on things

  522. a blur. They have set their affections on things on

  523. the earth to either they want to run with a

  524. drug dealer and his drugs, or either they want to

  525. run with a pample and his drugs, or they just

  526. don't want to deal with it. They don't want to

  527. be selfless, they want to be supper. Somehow they lose

  528. their focus on motherhood and they treat that baby like

  529. a piece of trash. I tell you what's going on

  530. at the Howell Householder. God's giving me another kitten. I

  531. don't know if any of y'all planted it in the

  532. tributary at my place or not.

  533. I don't think you would do that.

  534. But there's the prettiest little black kitten with the prettiest

  535. white stripe down.

  536. It's fact that I've ever seen in my life.

  537. And I got hold the other night and I heard repeatedly, now, ma'am, now, ma'am.

  538. I told sister House that that's a funny sounding bird,

  539. and she was going on in the house. But it's

  540. holding this preacher with this big heart. I thought, you

  541. know what, that might not be a bird. That sounds

  542. like a very little tiny kitty hey man. And so

  543. I got to walking around out there and I looked

  544. at what seemed to be a little black bird.

  545. You know, here's the head and here's the town.

  546. And I got to thinking, you know what, that ain't

  547. no bird imitating a little cat?

  548. That is that is a little kitty cat. And sister

  549. haw put.

  550. Some things down in the apartment. She come back and

  551. she said, what is that little bird? She's looking at it?

  552. Look at that.

  553. That's a little birden. I brought to it by now,

  554. and I just kept saying, no, she couldn't hear me. No,

  555. that's a little kitty cat. I thought, I saw kitty cat.

  556. I thought I saw I did, I did, I saw

  557. kitty cat.

  558. Amen.

  559. And finally she said, look at that little black bird.

  560. What is that thing doing there? It's letting you approach it.

  561. And I said, you know what, that's a kiddy cat.

  562. She said, a kenty cat. What's it doing there? Of

  563. all places? And why is it playing peek a boo

  564. with you? And why is it crying out to you

  565. like that? What aognosia. I said, I don't know. Something

  566. must have happened to mama. Mama must be dead or

  567. something that is God who lost. But that little kiddy

  568. cat has a laser focused brother Jesse. And so I

  569. went to grabbing and took off and ran from me,

  570. and I ran into the bushes and tried to catch it,

  571. and I was just too slow. And then I went

  572. back to go to the vehicle, and that little kiddy

  573. cat came back, got in position again and sound it

  574. off again, want my attention. And so I went up

  575. there and played cat and mouse or cat and fool again,

  576. and it fooled me.

  577. It ran around, hid behind trees.

  578. Jumped up in bushes, kept making that noise and wouldn't

  579. let me catch it, Brother Nathaniel, And we did that

  580. until I got sore. I'm telling you, started sweating, breathing heavy.

  581. Somebody talked about breathlessness this morning. That thing made a

  582. fool out of me. I still haven't got a hold

  583. of it yet, but I know that thing has a

  584. laser focus on me. If the buzzards hadn't got it,

  585. or the coon or some other varmit hadn't killed it

  586. by now, when I get back.

  587. I know it'll be right there doing the same thing.

  588. You had a focus, brother Jesse, that I was going

  589. to give it by undivided attention. And so the louder

  590. it screamed and cried, the harder I shook the kitty

  591. food bag, and I told just to hell watch this.

  592. I shook that kiddy food so hard that that kiddy

  593. stopped all that crying and all that screaming and start

  594. of staring at that bag. And I took a handful

  595. of any food and threw it over there, and it

  596. went to nibbling. And then when it got done with

  597. a few pieces, and started screaming again. And I just

  598. shake that bag a little bit, and Sister Wood, that

  599. kept us screaming and a hollering because mama's daddy can't

  600. get in the milk. It's a very very small kiddy cat.

  601. I shook it again, and I said, I gotta do

  602. the same thing again. I gotta make the food louder

  603. than the cry. Come on there, I'm telling you. And

  604. I shook, and I shook, and I should. I told

  605. Sister House to watch them. If I shake this bag vigorously,

  606. if I get louder.

  607. And it's cry with the food.

  608. It will focus on the food and forget about it's

  609. anguish and it's words of the loss of life or mother.

  610. And I'm telling us in this beauty, we have lost

  611. a wonderful and a beautiful thing. His sister, show we

  612. have lost something. Next you turn on. We ain't talking

  613. about something vain. We're gonna turn our sight and our

  614. vision and our view all things above. I said, I

  615. believe my sister is a both. Just as the little

  616. kitten got a laser focus on that bag of kiddy food,

  617. we're gonna have to get to a laser tocus. So

  618. on the poorly gate, on that poorly white smile on

  619. the other side of.

  620. That poorly gate. The time's gonna come.

  621. You don't feel like getting up her Sunday morning, The

  622. time's gonna come. Right, you don't feel like going to

  623. church on Sunday evening, at her Wrisday evening. You're at

  624. every excuse in the book, right. You can't move there

  625. if you're not careful. What her bitchu yourliser to you,

  626. what her bitchle what You'll lose your burden, her bitch you?

  627. What your loisa focus?

  628. I'm telling you you better sett her your affect her

  629. horse takes her pop, I said, focus her thinks her

  630. how bad? Just slaa baha it so cool? Yeah, this

  631. so you he's a about oh by He said, that's so cool.

  632. YadA, that's about that here. Yeah, I say, under thee

  633. in my house there are.

  634. Many mansions, many houses, many rooms, And I say, don't

  635. lose sight of those things that I have prepared for you.

  636. Come unto me and enter thou into the joys of

  637. the Lord, Saith the Lord.

  638. Amen? Amen?

  639. How could somebody lose their focus? Brother Nathaniel by becoming distracted?

  640. The Son of God walked on this earth in the

  641. sandals of mankind. He lived and dwelt amongst them. He

  642. did amazing things, and many, in fact, most chose to

  643. overlook him. Most chose to overlook him. The author of

  644. our Golden text understood this very thing, and he understood

  645. how easily it can happen. And he said, turn away

  646. mine eyes from beholding vanity. I'll tell you this, A

  647. swamp buggy ain't more important than church.

  648. Hunting.

  649. Dogs ain't more important than church. Deer hunting on Sunday

  650. during the open season, is it more important than church?

  651. And there's a lot of men and even women nowadays

  652. that are losing their vision of Calvary and their view

  653. of Heaven through hobbies, through buddies. I want to tell

  654. you at the end of this message, a lot of

  655. people have lost their way because of buddies and hobbies.

  656. Your buddy will call you and say, hey, I heard

  657. you going through something. Let's go out in the woods.

  658. The Ssawmist isn't having a private personal Pepperary in this moment.

  659. Although it is good to encourage ourself in the Lord,

  660. in this moment, the Psawmist is prayerfully begging God to

  661. turn his eyes away from beholding vanity. You know, when

  662. I come to church on Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesdays,

  663. I look past my boats, I look past my hobbies,

  664. I look past my fishing poles. May every person in

  665. this building today have the same request this Psalmist had,

  666. Lord Jesus Savior, help me to stay focused on everything

  667. that truly matters. Brother and sister. The student begins learning

  668. and they learn the lessons of the teacher and the tutor.

  669. And this is the thing the Holy Girl spoke to

  670. me that inspired this message. They become the servant or

  671. slave of the subject and their study. That's what the

  672. Holy Girl spoke into my heart. They become the servant

  673. or slave of the subject and their study. You buy

  674. a bunch of bird dogs, and you polish up them

  675. shotguns and shine the tires on them swamp buggies, and

  676. start running in the woods on Sunday. The Bible said

  677. that they that lived by the sword shall die by

  678. the sword. You'll die out there in the woods with

  679. a form of godliness, but without the power. We have

  680. heard it said before old taste and see that the

  681. Lord is good. How can you know how good he

  682. tastes and how sweet his word is if you don't

  683. come to church and taste and see. Our cotext was

  684. Colossians three. To set your affection on things above, not

  685. on things of the earth. Paul plainly told Christian people

  686. that we are to put our focus on things above.

  687. When you think of things above, what or who is

  688. the first thing that comes to mind? Hopefully Jesus Christ.

  689. He is above. And in closing, I want to give

  690. you a few things to think about that are above,

  691. first being that we can spend eternity with Jesus, for

  692. he himself is above. Next being reunited with friends and family,

  693. for they are above. And thirdly, heaven, Oh Heaven, It's

  694. no longer a dream, it's a reality. And here in

  695. this place of eternal rest, there's no more tears, no death,

  696. no sickness, no pain, no curse or sting of death. Bethel,

  697. focus on the treasure trove of things above. I say

  698. this because there is a battle for your attention and affection.

  699. And again I say these things because there is a

  700. battle for your attention and affection. Brother Jesse, would you

  701. come to the piano singers, would you come to the microphones?

  702. May we stand, beautiful Bethel. I come today with a burden,

  703. and I have preached the burden of my heart to you.

  704. And I trust that I have obeyed the Lord. In

  705. the Bible says eye hath not seen nor ear heard,

  706. neither has it entered into the heart of man, the

  707. things that God has prepared for those that love him.

  708. I know a lot of people speak of that being

  709. things above, such as the Father's house of many rooms,

  710. where there's many mansions, many homes, many places of dwelling,

  711. prepared places. And that's good. And you could say that's

  712. in context. But most importantly that scripture is speaking of

  713. things that are above, that are available for us on

  714. this earth. And that is joy in the presence of

  715. the Lord, fullness of life. For when you truly get

  716. born again, you begin to live eternally. When you're truly

  717. forgiven and set free and delivered, you have an unspeakable

  718. joy and a great peace. There's things here on this

  719. earth that are attainable that are heavenly, things from above,

  720. like salvation, sanctification, in the sweet Holy ghost. Very few

  721. people experience all of those things inclusive.

  722. At home.

  723. Most of them have to walk through the door of

  724. a church and receive guidance and instruction. That's why God

  725. gave us a pastor, and he gave us teachers for

  726. the perfecting of the saints. How are you going to

  727. be admonished? How are you going to be edified? Unless

  728. you're at church? And I'd be lying if I said

  729. anything different than this. There are more people today tempted

  730. to stay home from church and stay out of service

  731. than there has ever been. I remember, up until ten

  732. years ago, before COVID, even independent holiness people felt nervous

  733. about missing church. The treasure trove of things above, What

  734. is most important in your life? What is of most concern,

  735. what is of most value, hopefully eternal things?

  736. Right?

  737. If I gained the whole world and lose my own soul,

  738. what it was that profited me? Could we bow our

  739. heads close our eyes here today? Is there somebody in

  740. this building that would come to the altar and say, God,

  741. I want to make Jesus my priority, and I want

  742. to refocus upon things that matter. I need to refocus

  743. on things that matter, things of value, peace of mind,

  744. peace with God, joy in the spirit, fullness of life, salvation, sanctification,

  745. holy ghost field. I'm gonna say this some of you

  746. and people are doing it everywhere nowadays. You send the

  747. same same same text message, You sing the same song,

  748. sing the same tune.

  749. I'm gonna do better.

  750. I'm gonna do better, But your prayer needs to be

  751. Lord Jesus, turn my eyes away from vanity. I wonder

  752. how many people get distracted by cellular devices. I wonder

  753. how many people get distracted by this and that rather

  754. than focus on things that matter. Anybody you want to

  755. come to the altar today, anybody, just come on. There's

  756. got to be a couple of you praise the Lord. Amen,

  757. may we all just ask the Lord to give us

  758. a laser focus on church attendance, Bible reading, a prayer life.

  759. The Bible talked about our eyes and the need for

  760. them to look straight on, straight forward, look straight forward, focus,

  761. have a goal, have an objective. Anybody that's successful has

  762. to say, I must be focused. My heart is fixated

  763. up and you, Lord, my heart is fixed. Geez jesuses us, Amen, look.

  764. Fool, and here's a wonder fool face.

  765. Hearing the things.

  766. Of her, you'll grow strangely.

  767. Dim in the light of is go.

  768. Scrap, turn your zo pond.

  769. Geez Jesus, look fool his wonder full face, and the

  770. things over we'll grow strangely dim in the light.

  771. He's gory, angry, Oh so a you we we and

  772. trouble the new lady, the darkness she.

  773. They're a lie for.

  774. Look at the saal and lad.

  775. Abundant and free tur you rid thepongezus look fooly He's

  776. wonder for thing, and the thing to grow s sleep

  777. dim in the line of his glory, and a gray
