  1. took on flesh and so that me and you could be

  2. one with God the Father. How could we in our

  3. humanity and brokenness share space with such

  4. a holy God other than to be introduced by the

  5. holiest one which is Jesus. So I know he died

  6. so that me and you could share space with the

  7. holy god and the creator of the universe and

  8. that we could be be be brought back into union

  9. with what man messed up i know why but the song's

  10. still here the song's still here but i'll pray

  11. we'll jump into it y 'all ready to get into the

  12. word today thank y 'all you know they even got

  13. the blood on the day the red Father, I gotta

  14. thank you for today, and I just thank you for

  15. this opportunity to come and to minister to your

  16. people. I just thank you for this sweet atmosphere,

  17. this convergence of generations. This is what

  18. we believed for, this is what we prayed for,

  19. and I'm thankful, God, to be in this moment with

  20. both those who have been in the faith and those

  21. who have just been introduced to the faith and

  22. just sharing. what has been rich for generations.

  23. Thank you, God, for bringing us together and

  24. having us here and experience what has been good

  25. for generations. Thank you for today. Thank you

  26. for loving us and inviting us into this moment

  27. with you. As we open up your word, we are asking

  28. your spirit to guide us to illuminate the text

  29. and reveal to us what you have for us today.

  30. We cannot expect to come to you without your

  31. spirit being the guide and walk away with truth.

  32. But we pray that today your spirit invade this

  33. atmosphere, invade this moment, and remind us

  34. of who we are and what you've done and just the

  35. precious promises you have for us. And I just

  36. pray in the mighty name of Jesus that this moment

  37. be glorifying to you, Father. In your precious

  38. name, I pray the name above all names y 'all

  39. say with me jesus. Amen with love on your neighbor

  40. and Amen y 'all go ahead and turn over to ephesians

  41. chapter four And um, we we did all of chapter

  42. three last week, right Y 'all was excited about

  43. that Hope y 'all excited about that because we're

  44. gonna do chapter four today. So hey, there you

  45. go Let's keep the let's keep it going and so

  46. turn me to Ephesians chapter four and and I am

  47. I am grateful for your your hunger and thirst

  48. for truth, you know, that's how I see it that

  49. um, you have a hunger and thirst for truth and

  50. So as much as I could say a lot of things, truthfully,

  51. the most powerful thing that will happen in this

  52. service is what God will say to you as it's happening.

  53. And so as we read the word, my expectation is

  54. for the word to do what I don't even have the

  55. eloquence to speak. And so I pray you guys don't

  56. get dull of hearing the word of God being read

  57. to you. Amen. But just to set some context, right,

  58. that one of the. Awesome things about Ephesians

  59. chapter four is it actually is a crossover, right?

  60. there's six books in the in Ephesians and the

  61. first three actually laying a spiritual foundation

  62. and Then when we get to four five and six Paul

  63. gets extremely practical about how we are to

  64. live what we just learned and so it is important

  65. that we take everything that we've heard these

  66. first three chapters and kind of kind of live

  67. from there right and Understand this that as

  68. you're hearing this, you know, the truth is designed

  69. first check this out to to confront before it

  70. transforms the fruit truth confronts before it

  71. transformed and so I say that so that you don't

  72. Feel like it's a it's a it's a wrong thing It's

  73. actually the right thing that as we're reading

  74. the word and you're like man that I don't know

  75. about that That's that's this beginning of transformation

  76. that there's confrontation before this transformation

  77. y 'all rocking with me And so we're not reading

  78. the word so it just lines up with us We're reading

  79. the word so we can find what's in us. That's

  80. that doesn't belong there and the word can begin

  81. the transformation of it of it of it No longer

  82. being connected to who we are but the fees and

  83. chapter four just to give you guys some I'm even

  84. I'm holding on to it, you know, because once

  85. it's out there it's out there and so I'm hoping

  86. I'm saying enough to say with the title of today's

  87. messages, but it's already gonna hit you So it

  88. might as well just be what it is But when you

  89. look at a vision chapter four, especially the

  90. lens we'll be looking through today It's saying

  91. something really powerful that I think we all

  92. need to hear today and it's simply this people

  93. aren't your problem people aren't your problem

  94. and i know i'm no different than a lot of you

  95. guys i probably spend a lot of my day just saying

  96. to myself it's these it's the people y 'all be

  97. leaving me all by myself in certain moments but

  98. it's okay i know it's true a lot of times you

  99. sit down at the end of day like you know if i

  100. just have some better people around me Some people

  101. that would agree with what I see or just you

  102. know But at the end of the day you come to this

  103. conclusion that people are the problem but as

  104. you read Ephesians chapter 4 it challenges us

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  105. because it lets us know that People aren't your

  106. problem So go ahead look at your neighbor. Let's

  107. just practice it right y 'all know I love for

  108. us to practice say it say hey neighbor people

  109. Aren't your problem? Matter of fact Ephesians

  110. begins to challenge us to not only stop seeing

  111. people as the problem But to see people as a

  112. part a part of what could possibly be Your growth

  113. And so here we go and Just to kind of put this

  114. here right Ephesians 6 and 12 tell us where we

  115. do not wrestle Against flesh and blood but against

  116. principalities and spirits in high places. So

  117. it always lets us know put this in Context, you

  118. know when and one of the benefits that this truth

  119. is giving us is for us to be free from people

  120. Because as long as you believe people can be

  121. your problem. It's hard to be free from people

  122. And so the Bible is trying to get you free but

  123. it has to address how you see people in the the

  124. weight you give them to what God is doing in

  125. your life and and It's wanting to make sure that

  126. you give appropriate rate weight to the relationships

  127. and the people that Surround you y 'all. All

  128. right But a fees is chapter 4 starting in verse

    Isaiah 4 chapter mention

  129. 1 it says therefore I'm reading the ESV Says

  130. I therefore a prisoner for the Lord. That's Paul

  131. talking urge you to walk in a manner Worthy of

  132. the calling to which you have been called and

  133. right there Just we're gonna pause just to sell

  134. a context right that that that we're even seeing

  135. Paul Apply that same principle right there. He

  136. says a prisoner for the Lord Paul wasn't mad

  137. at the people who put the chains on them He's

  138. already taken this condition that many of us

  139. would see as as as as As a challenge and he's

  140. put it in context of who God is once you start

  141. putting things in context of who God is you get

  142. the filter to be able to Live and see things

  143. the way God wants you to be that's where we're

  144. last. We just give me a second Y 'all remember

  145. just give me a second so I can I can put this

  146. in the context of of who God is And so he says

  147. prison floor. I urge you what to walk in a manner

  148. Worthy of the calling to which you have been

  149. called and so just to do some some fine -tuning

  150. right there When he says walk in a manner he's

  151. speaking of us Living a life of faith when he's

  152. speaking a walk they talk about walking and they

  153. mirror walking to living And so while he's saying

  154. I want this is the way that you should be living

  155. say hey neighbor You should be living Worthy

  156. of the calling Now we get here that calling that

  157. Paul begins to break down as we go through Ephesians

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  158. chapter 4 isn't talking about Like, you know

  159. a lot of times we think about my calling my calling

  160. what what Paul is referring to is the called

  161. The call that if you responded to Jesus and said

  162. yes to his calling you are now the called and

  163. So he's speaking to every born -again believer

  164. that if you said yes to Jesus you answered his

  165. call and now you are what church Boy, y 'all

  166. are good. Y 'all are sharp You are the calling

  167. him say hey neighbor you are the called and so

  168. he's saying, you know Understand that you may

  169. have individual gifts But as the call there's

  170. a way we should walk That as a person who was

  171. snatched out of darkness into God's marvelous

  172. light that you were called into the kingdom There

  173. is a generalized way in which you should be living

  174. Right. There may be nuances based upon your your

  175. personal gifts and within it but as the call

  176. look you say hey neighbor as the called There's

  177. a universal way that oh y 'all gotta say all

  178. that When I pause it's supposed to be a break

  179. -in I thought I went over this before y 'all

  180. remember this a few weeks ago. I said hey when

  181. I pause this I'm giving space to disconnect the

  182. repeating If Paul is saying this because he doesn't

  183. want anybody here what else is about to be said

  184. to say that ain't me And so that's really why

  185. that's there that none of us can escape the truth

  186. that's coming So verse 32 he says with all humility

  187. and gentleness and patience Bearing with one

  188. another in love eager to maintain the unity of

  189. the spirit in the bond of peace so Paul begins

  190. to say that there are virtues attitudes that

  191. as the call We should be walking in three of

  192. them are witches humility gentleness and patience

  193. He also asked us ask us there to bear one another

  194. in love Eager check this out. This is the key

  195. to this eager to what church? Maintain the unity

  196. of the spirit in the bond of peace. This is where

  197. revelations first starts to hit us Paul doesn't

  198. say to obtain unity He says to maintain unity

  199. and this right here gets me so excited when you

  200. realize that Me and you don't have the assignment

  201. of obtaining unity with one another. We actually

  202. have the assignment of maintaining unity I'm

  203. gonna say it again that we don't have to wear

  204. the weight of trying to bring us together That

  205. if you're thinking how can I bring us together?

  206. You've already missed the revelation The revelation

  207. is we are already Together the question is how

  208. do we maintain? That unity you've obtained unity

  209. That's so good because I know as we think down

  210. our family trees all we can see is the vision

  211. But we have to realize that in Christ You are

  212. all you've obtained unity that if you want to

  213. bring your family together Introduce your family

  214. to Jesus Jesus has obtained Unity for us one

  215. of the incredible benefits about being a born

  216. -again believer is we don't have to fight to

  217. get Unity we have to maintain the unity we've

  218. been given That's why we have this body that

  219. we live in and we are all parts in particular

  220. But we have to maintain what we've obtained but

  221. you don't have to strive for unity You don't

  222. have to strain for unity. You don't have to fight

  223. for unity You just have to remind people they

  224. need to maintain what they've obtained We are

  225. one look at your neighbor. Say hey neighbor We

  226. are one We want But of course, that word maintain

  227. now carries new weight. Because if I don't have

  228. the burden of creating unity, that means I do

  229. have the responsibility of maintaining what I

  230. obtain. Someone else already did the hard work,

  231. but now must Maintain what was obtained Right,

  232. it's like somebody gives you a house that's paid

  233. for you still have taxes and so you have to maintain

  234. what someone else obtained for you your house,

  235. but did you pay the taxes because if you don't

  236. pay the taxes you can Lose what was obtained

  237. but check this out maintenance is always a fraction

  238. of what it takes to obtain and So if we had to

  239. ask Jesus to do one thing for us, I would say

  240. do the work of obtaining the unity We can handle

  241. the maintaining say hey neighbor Let's handle

  242. the maintaining And he uses these three virtues

  243. these three attitudes he says humility gentleness

  244. patience that those three virtues and the prioritization

  245. of those three virtues and Attitudes is how you

  246. maintain what you've obtained What does that

  247. let me know that lets me know that unity begins

  248. to break down When pride shows up Because pride

  249. is the opposing attitude humility It lets me

  250. know that when aggression shows up division can

  251. show up because Aggression is the opposing attitude

  252. to gentleness It lets me know that when I become

  253. impatient that Impatient is a force that breaks

  254. what was obtained Y 'all alright And so he's

  255. saying hey listen we stay Maintaining what we've

  256. obtained when we continue to develop in humility

  257. Have a gentle attitude and practice patience

  258. What you'll also see here This is bearing with

  259. one another in in in love Love and I love this

  260. because look at him say hey, you're been in love

  261. with somebody If you ever been in love I Mean

  262. I'm talking about that good love You mean you

  263. know, it's an it's an atmosphere That it's not

  264. just an action It's an atmosphere That that love

  265. in its greatest expression isn't an act. It's

  266. an atmosphere That that that you created a safe

  267. space for me to exist That that that in love

  268. means that there is an atmosphere that is cultivated

  269. for unity to permeate So Paul's not asking us

  270. to do of love he's saying cultivate an atmosphere

  271. of love say hey neighbor you was caught up because

  272. it wasn't just what they was doing it was the

  273. air you was breathing they had you in an atmosphere

  274. you was just every time I turn around love I

  275. mean I'm in love and But why am I saying this

  276. because if we are to maintain we have to realize

  277. we are maintaining an atmosphere not just acts

  278. He's not asking us to just do things different.

  279. He's asking us to maintain our worlds differently

  280. He's telling us to allow humility be what they

  281. breathe allow gentleness to be what they breathe

  282. allow patience to be what they breathe not I

  283. was patient with you that's interesting that

  284. sounds more like an act than an atmosphere and

  285. so when we talk about maintaining he's saying

  286. make this the atmosphere say hey neighbor Let

  287. patience be the atmosphere. Let gentleness be

  288. the atmosphere. Let humility be the atmosphere.

  289. Don't stop at the act. Let it be the atmosphere.

  290. Woo! Some of y 'all already got a playlist for

  291. it, Pastor. I got the perfect song. I'm going

  292. to put it on as soon as I get home. I'm going

  293. to just... Let it let it permeate Verse 4 he

  294. says There is one body and one spirit just as

  295. you were called to one hope that belongs to who's

  296. called Your call there is one Lord one faith

  297. one baptism one God and one father of all who

  298. is over all and through all and in all right,

  299. and so we see this one one one one one and Paul

  300. is highlighting us to us What are our unifying

  301. characteristics? He's not just saying things

  302. randomly He's actually giving the manuscript

  303. by which we are united the one thing that we

  304. should see the same is There's only one spirit

  305. That's the spirit of god That there is one lord

  306. his name is jesus There is one faith There's

  307. one baptism. We all been baptized there is one

  308. God and in a father of us all who is overall

  309. and in all and What is he also letting us to

  310. know and this is the part that we want to be

  311. clear about that If there's going to be division

  312. it's because we don't unify in the ones Because

  313. there are now we got to sit this on what we've

  314. been learning so far. There are people who aren't

  315. what? spiritually alive and Because they're not

  316. spiritually alive. They are dead to what God

  317. is doing and When someone is dead to what God

  318. is doing that means they're also not alive to

  319. that spirit of unity This is important for you

  320. to hear too Because we have to understand salvation

  321. is a critical act because it starts the process

  322. of unity Without Christ we cannot be unified

  323. Without Christ we don't have the strength and

  324. the power to see the same things the same way

  325. We can't even start talking about one faith and

  326. one Lord and in one spirit because we haven't

  327. been baptized by one Jesus This helps us because

  328. oftentimes we're fighting for unity in places.

  329. It will never develop And you can find yourself

  330. straining and striving and fighting and Struggling

  331. and throwing away all your peace Trying to obtain

  332. trying to obtain what we've only been called

  333. to maintain We haven't been called to obtain

  334. unity We've been called to maintain a unity that

  335. exists in Christ So until you're in Christ, there's

  336. no point in me fighting for what you don't have

  337. these eyes to even see Y 'all rocking with me

  338. So this is my first like, you know is us in our

  339. little truth questions. I have reason to praise

  340. right? I'm gonna see if y 'all see this is a

  341. reason to praise y 'all may or may not But Christ

  342. makes unity possible So reason the praise Christ

  343. makes unity possible that man And I was really,

  344. really just thinking about this. And I believe

  345. anybody that has experienced moments of success

  346. or achievement, I believe they can bear witness

  347. to it, is that you realize success and achievement

  348. without community doesn't bring wholeness. Success

  349. and achievement without community doesn't bring

  350. wholeness Y 'all don't like that I'm trying to

  351. figure out which party you was arguing with it

  352. your flesh and just it's just making its way

  353. That Success and achievement without community

  354. will not result in wholeness. You will achieve

  355. the thing. You will get the thing. You will have

  356. the thing, but wholeness won't be present until

  357. you're sharing it with who God called you to

  358. be with. There will always feel like there's

  359. this piece missing. Like it was good, but then

  360. there's that asterisk. And so when we're hearing

  361. this It's not just about having people around

  362. you. It's about you experiencing wholeness in

  363. life That as believers when he says you were

  364. called to one body He's also letting you know

  365. that unity is a part of how you now find peace

  366. That it's actually hard Sleep well when I'm at

  367. odds with those I'm supposed to have peace with

  368. That it's actually extremely difficult for me

  369. to call the day good when I've been arguing with

  370. people I love That it's it's it's a it's a difficult

  371. thing It's like I can be where I'm at and bills

  372. paid house paid for but if I'm yelling at the

  373. people I'm supposed to be dwelling here with

  374. there's no wholeness so Paul is trying to get

  375. us to expand from our carnal way of thinking

  376. because many of us have spent our whole lives

  377. trying to isolate ourselves because we determined

  378. that people are the problem and the less people

  379. that's around me the more peace I have and you

  380. can have temporary peace but if you're looking

  381. for permanent wholeness Y 'all ain't got to tell

  382. me I've been there before I've been on the beach

  383. Watching the waves Under read all the little

  384. descriptions right now. You should feel at peace

  385. and all I can think about is I Just don't understand

  386. why they feel like that You ever broke up somebody's

  387. moment you was in paradise and you ain't want

  388. to break it up But you just couldn't shake it.

  389. So you're like hey, you think they still mad

  390. at me Wow Talk about that out here right now

  391. You know, but what am I saying? That in grain

  392. in me in you deep I should say stronger than

  393. that Deposited in me in you by way of the spirit

  394. living in us is a desire to be unified with the

  395. people God has called us to That you could have

  396. hated people before you met christ you meet jesus

  397. you now are starting to develop a love for people

  398. a compassion for people that you want to see

  399. those who are estranged Those who are far away

  400. being brought near to what you are experiencing

  401. the love that you have i'm saying this because

  402. we shouldn't give up on unity we just need to

  403. appropriate how we maintain unity now now understand

  404. that Christ is going to bring it together Christ

  405. is the unifier praise be to God that I don't

  406. have the responsibility of creating unity I just

  407. have the obligation to maintain what Christ has

  408. obtained so when Christ brings it together I

  409. know the part I'm supposed to be playing Y 'all

  410. alright, there is no way I don't think we're

  411. gonna make it What is he saying he's saying our

  412. unity isn't based on similarity is based on a

  413. shared identity in Christ Our unity isn't based

  414. on similarity is based on a shared identity in

  415. Christ We are one because we have a single belief

  416. system as it refers to who we are in Christ So

  417. we are unified in Christ. We are unified in his

  418. Identity. We are very different people We don't

  419. need sameness we need alignment What are you

  420. saying like Christianity is not about finding

  421. people who you will finally agree with everything

  422. upon It doesn't mean that we all agree on everything

  423. but we all believe in one unifying Jesus And

  424. as long as you are pursuing him I am pursuing

  425. him It's impossible for us to develop division

  426. in route You you maintain I Maintain and we continue

  427. to enjoy what he obtained My father say like

  428. this like it's it's not a kingdom issue The truth

  429. is if it's not a kingdom issue it shouldn't be

  430. a division issue Well, what are the kingdom issues

  431. one Lord? one God one spirit one baptism one

  432. faith soon as you start talking about many spirits

  433. that spooky spirits and you got too many gods

  434. and What is who is Jesus to you is he the Savior

  435. and the Redeemer of your soul or historical figure

  436. that you consider sometimes Because if you consider

  437. him a historical figure not the savior of your

  438. soul. Well, my friend we have an actual kingdom

  439. issue Anything other than that Jesus has obtained

  440. our unity He said but grace was given to each

  441. one of us According to the measure of Christ

  442. gives therefore it says when he ascended on high

  443. He led a host of captives and he gave gifts to

  444. men and saying he ascended What does that mean?

  445. But that he had also descended into the lower

  446. regions the earth he who descend is one who ascends

  447. far above all the heavens that he might fill

  448. all things and he gave the apostles the prophets

  449. the evangelists the shepherds and teachers to

  450. equip the saints for the work of ministry for

  451. building up the body of christ until we all attained

  452. the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of

  453. the son of god to mature manhood to the measure

  454. of the stature of the fullness of christ So that

  455. we may no longer be children Tossed to and fro

  456. by the waves and carried about by every wind

  457. of doctrine by human cunning by craftiness and

  458. deceitful schemes This is so good. So right and

  459. so now we are getting that new life say hey new

  460. life neighbor the new life why it is prioritized

  461. to Maintain what Jesus has obtained that Paul

  462. is making it clear. It is Difficult impossible

  463. for me and you to mature without each other What

  464. are you saying that you can develop in isolation,

  465. but you only can mature in community so we need

  466. one another. There's a there's a why to why the

  467. maintaining is important because you will remain

  468. immature in isolation. If you are going to mature

  469. into this body mature and to Christ has called

  470. you into you have to Maintain what he is obtained

  471. which is the unity of the body that as much as

  472. you want to do your own thing Doing your own

  473. thing will result in an immature you That's what

  474. they say people aren't your problem their opportunity

  475. to grow It's hard to be patient without a who

  476. to be patient with. It's hard to develop humility

  477. without me having to find somebody not to be

  478. prideful. You think you know everything. I was

  479. thinking the other day, man, it be getting too

  480. real sometimes. Where he at? Is he in here? Is

  481. he listening? If somebody around my nephew Gregory

  482. tell him not to listen to this. Was talking to

  483. this man the other day I Had to flip my script

  484. I Was like maybe he's here so I can exercise

  485. humility This brother think he know everything

  486. And I'm fighting to maintain what Jesus is obtained

  487. because all I'm thinking is Ain't even nothing

  488. what neff Neff hear me and hear me clearly But

  489. then I was thinking or maybe God is helping me

  490. To walk in humility And and maybe Patience isn't

  491. an act in this moment. It's an atmosphere that

  492. needs to be cultivated Because I can say well

  493. I gave him plenty times to get it right Well,

  494. that means patience is an act not an atmosphere

  495. if it has a if it has a limitation on usage It's

  496. an act if it's an atmosphere. It's indispensable

  497. Lord help me help me just maintain what you've

  498. obtained Can we say that together I? Just felt

  499. the spirit of God on that like y 'all just same

  500. say Lord Help me to maintain What you've obtained?

  501. Help me to grow from acts to atmosphere I Just

  502. don't want to do Patient acts I want to be a

  503. patient person I Don't want to just act to have

  504. acts of humility. I want to walk in humility.

  505. I Want when I show up humility cultivates the

  506. atmosphere? Like like everything star now pride

  507. begins to crumble because I've shown up as the

  508. atmosphere of humility. I'm not just thinking

  509. about what I'm doing. I'm thinking about how

  510. I can cultivate an atmosphere that responds to

  511. what God is doing. Y 'all hear what I'm saying.

  512. God, just give me the strength to maintain what

  513. you've obtained. You create, you died so that

  514. we could have one God. We can have one faith.

  515. We can have one Lord. Baptism you aligned us

  516. at all the major things. Let me not put down

  517. our Discredit the minor things that keep the

  518. atmosphere good You obtain the foundation for

  519. unity by giving us one Lord by giving us one

  520. God by giving us one Spirit by giving us one

  521. faith you did the grunt work so let me just do

  522. let me just do you know just the I was thinking

  523. elves because Christmas factory and the elves

  524. work with Santa I Was telling somebody the other

  525. day there they always says where do you get the

  526. examples from us? I don't write down the examples.

  527. I Just let the Holy Spirit do it every once in

  528. a while one of those comes out And that's that's

  529. the result of not having written them down. I

  530. was thinking How can I make this plain? You know

  531. Santa he got elves But he needs the elves to

  532. maintain, you know anyway I'll bring it back

  533. in November. See if the season won't let it hit

  534. better. I don't knows Somewhere like he called

  535. us else I didn't call you don't mean your elves,

  536. but I Don't know I'll leave it alone second service.

  537. I'll have something better for y 'all. I'm telling

  538. you I'm telling you But he's saying right that

  539. you have these these check this out now if you're

  540. reading that list You'll also notice that there's

  541. a there's a there's a there's a there's a there's

  542. a gift not on that list That gift is the gift

  543. of a deacon deacons are on that list on that

  544. list is actually the teaching gifts And on that

  545. list he's letting us know which course goes Man,

  546. it's just just rips up all of the cultural things

  547. that people say today But unless you know right

  548. that you can without a doubt you can Develop

  549. in private and that's what I was even talking

  550. about last week that some of y 'all need to get

  551. away You need to get spend a lot of time with

  552. Jesus so that you can develop develop so that

  553. when you get into This unity this community you

  554. are now just maintaining what you have clear

  555. sight of a Lot of times it's hard for us to maintain

  556. because everyone's in this community unassigned

  557. And so he says there's teachers there's there's

  558. prophets there's a villain evangelist that there's

  559. gifts within the body Say hey neighbor, it's

  560. difficult to maintain what you haven't been assigned

  561. Right that in that community as we're there that

  562. that everyone has this role that they play and

  563. they have this thing that they're bringing But

  564. I also find it I do I do I do because if you

  565. know a deacon is responsible for maintaining

  566. the house And I do I find it just all striking

  567. striking that a deacon isn't on this list Which

  568. leads me to believe that when Paul is speaking

  569. of that unity of the body that we are all called

  570. to maintain That in this context no one is above

  571. the maintenance and no one has a different assignment

  572. We all should be opening doors at the house Is

  573. what i'm saying we all should be picking up groceries

  574. and we all should be cleaning stuff up And we

  575. all should be making sure it's not a wreck when

  576. Boy ain't nothing worse than coming over to somebody

  577. house and it's dirty and they trying to say well,

  578. it's not my week Well, is it your house? What

  579. are you doing to maintain? What was obtained?

  580. You know, sometimes I'd be thinking y 'all be

  581. getting so spiritually deep. I got to bring this

  582. thing right on back Just bring it right on back

  583. it ain't my week That sounds like an act not

  584. an atmosphere are we trying to maintain cleanliness

  585. are we the folks only clean up when people come

  586. in I'm gonna look down on that way Boy, I took

  587. all time boy ain't no house cleaner than the

  588. day the hours before people come over But ain't

  589. no house as dirty as the the moments after they

  590. leave It's like you will clean every little jot

  591. and tittle for destruction to take place But

  592. then live in something that's not reflective

  593. of what you've obtained Man He says rather speaking

  594. the truth in love. We all grow Up in every way

  595. and to him who is the head into Christ from whom

  596. the whole body joined and held together By every

  597. joint with his equip when each part is working

  598. properly If you happen to be here with your family

  599. or some of your family are they across the room

  600. just make eye contact with some family Hey mama

  601. When each part is functioning properly it makes

  602. the body grow Makes the body grow And that is

  603. what's so awesome about Spiritual family what

  604. you come to find out is that um, it's not here

  605. We'll get to it as we keep reading but I know

  606. it it fits best right here is that many people

  607. come to christ with broken families and it is

  608. the assignment of the church to step in as spiritual

  609. family for the broken places so that we can all

  610. be a functioning body that many of the things

  611. that we hear are actually not out of context

  612. that they are actually spiritually good and what

  613. god wants to see that you know i don't know i

  614. think amber thinks she has like 30 uncles now

  615. you know She calls everybody in a certain age

  616. bracket her uncle, you know and auntie and she

  617. just runs around and she got many different Family

  618. members that aren't blood but we are all on the

  619. same foundation and So although we are not bound

  620. by last name we are bound I ain't gonna do it.

  621. It's right there his name Paul wants to know

  622. that it's good because it's how we grow It's

  623. how we mature I Love this he says so that you

  624. don't become tossed to and fro from every wind

  625. and wave of doctrine Because truth is sometimes

  626. you need someone who loves you enough to challenge

  627. your version of reality Sometimes you need someone

  628. who loves you enough to challenge your version

  629. of reality That many believers become agitated

  630. by the assignment of the body to mature them

  631. into who they are and So they take that agitation

  632. and they move to isolation Don't want nobody

  633. to say that to me and I don't want Nobody who

  634. are they and who is he and who are you and who

  635. are us? And just all the things that try to dismantle

  636. that it was truth that was shared And every once

  637. in a while you need somebody to challenge your

  638. version of reality You do know you have your

  639. version of what's happening in your life and

  640. it might not be accurate You have aversion Here's

  641. the truth. It may not be accurate Well, how do

  642. I not get tossed to and fro by every wave winner

  643. doctrine? You have people who will tell you what

  644. you just said ain't it? Lot of times people couldn't

  645. means like that's what God told me I said, is

  646. that all he said? Please tell me it's more because

  647. if this is what we got to work with We got we

  648. got one God and one baptism and one spirit and

  649. one faith And it don't sound like what you said

  650. came from any of them ones. I know What do you

  651. say it faster Brian that it helps right it helps

  652. our feelings not become facts and Help us not

  653. take assumptions and make them into convictions.

  654. It's not preferences become doctrines It doesn't

  655. let our wounds become lenses like girl I know

  656. it hurt but you can't live life through what

  657. happened to you. Who is that talking to you?

  658. That's someone who understands the faith the

  659. baptism the spirit the calling and what God can

  660. do Y 'all rock you with me Let's rock oh But

  661. Paul begins to speak about love he says love

  662. it tells the truth love bills and What else does

  663. love do? Give me a second It's up here Love bears

  664. with people Y 'all doing all right Let's keep

  665. going. I think we can do this. We can look at

  666. him say yes, we can He says now this I say and

  667. testify in the Lord that you must no longer walk

  668. as the Gentiles do and the futility of their

  669. minds they are darken in their understanding

  670. alienated from the life of God because of Ignorance

  671. that is in them due to their hardness of heart

  672. They have become callous and have given themselves

  673. up to sensuality greedy and practice every kind

  674. of impurity But that is not the way you learned

  675. Christ Assuming that you have heard about him

  676. and were taught in him as the truth is in Jesus

  677. to put off your old self Which belongs to your

  678. former manner of life which is corrupt through

  679. deceitful desires and to be renewed look at their

  680. say hey neighbor be renewed The spirit of your

  681. mind and to put on this new self created after

  682. the like I didn't pause And to put on this new

  683. self Created after the likeness of God and the

  684. righteousness of holiness Therefore put away

  685. falsehood let each one of you speak The truth

  686. with his neighbor for we are members one of another

  687. and I love this I love this so much because paul

  688. speaks about what we make so difficult so simply

  689. That he's like, hey, hey just put that off That

  690. whole that whole old you just just take that

  691. off and hey just put on this new person Like

  692. just put it on he's referring to things like

  693. as if they're clothes like like you can just

  694. wake up and put on your new self and you can

  695. take off your old self like he's not putting

  696. this whole world of like struggle to become who

  697. God has called you to be like Christianity is

  698. the most difficult thing you could have ever

  699. embarked on struggle struggle struggle mode no

  700. he's like yo just wake up and put it on put on

  701. your new self put on that new attitude and and

  702. be renewed in the spirit of your mind and and

  703. be a to what God is saying is good y 'all rocking

  704. with me what am I saying that here's the truth

  705. and I have to say the truth is you will never

  706. experience wholeness while fighting against what

  707. God calls good and God calls this good and since

  708. he calls it good I can't fight with it and expect

  709. fruitfulness I align with what he calls good

  710. so I can live in the fruit of good I don't fight

  711. what he calls good and also don't make difficult

  712. when he said it's simple. He said put it on Just

  713. put it on Whoo, what is he speaking like and

  714. I love this I love when the Bible speaks to us

  715. as though we're finished work That if going back

  716. to Ephesus chapter 2 if I have all spiritual

  717. blessings in heavenly places Then what is happening

  718. as I live is I'm now having to ex From what I've

  719. already obtained like I already have it in other

  720. words You already have meekness you already have

  721. gentleness. You already have patience. You already

  722. have joy You already have long suffering. You

  723. already have these things. You just need to put

  724. it on Why am I putting it on because Because

  725. no matter how much you achieve, and no matter

  726. how much you obtain, you will never have success,

  727. or how much success you have, or how much you

  728. achieve, you will never have wholeness where

  729. there is no unity. But in order for unity to

  730. form and be maintained, we have to put it on.

  731. We have to put on. our new selves and take off

  732. our old self the old you was divisive the all

  733. you was confrontational the all you was aggressive

  734. prideful the old you was destructive the all

  735. you found a problem with everything but the new

  736. you the new you finds life and peace and joy

  737. and patience and long suffering and it sees these

  738. things as good and you have a choice every day

  739. to just put it on be renewed in the spirit of

  740. your mind and let Christ be alive in your everyday

  741. walking around life and I love this because Paul

  742. doesn't picture this or position this as this

  743. difficult thing he says you put it on just as

  744. you put on your clothes to come to church this

  745. morning today look at him say hey neighbor today

  746. I will walk in I'll be patient with you. And

  747. he's speaking to you like you're finished work,

  748. like Jesus has already obtained these things.

  749. And so we just maintain what he's obtained for

  750. the sake of unity and the sake of wholeness and

  751. the sake of maturing and the sake of not being

  752. caught and tossed up to and fro, because if you're

  753. isolated, you're also going to find yourself

  754. deceived. He says be angry and do not sin that's

  755. crazy But look how he's talking to us like I

  756. know you mad but you know just don't sin I love

  757. because he says be angry He didn't say don't

  758. be angry he says be angry but don't sin Like

  759. Paul is teacher for the perspective of actually

  760. having having to live this faith. I Found out

  761. that immature people think that like they will

  762. say immature people be like don't be angry Mature

  763. people know you're gonna be mad sometimes but

  764. don't let it change what you do Don't let it

  765. factor in who you are Take that anger off and

  766. put on your joy Just take it off. It's connected

  767. to a mentality be renewed in the spirit of your

  768. mind Do not allow your mind to continue to think

  769. about things that aren't taking you in the direction

  770. of who your new self is Right that that that

  771. that you I know you're mad, but don't stay mad.

  772. Don't don't don't foster mad Don't water mad

  773. don't develop mad and definitely don't make it

  774. seem like you mad at me You may be mad at what

  775. I did, but you know, I've done some things that

  776. I've been influenced by That's the first year

  777. somebody always look at you. You made me do it

  778. Boy nothing like somebody look at you, but you

  779. made me do it. I Know what I did, but you made

  780. me do it Look at that and give no opportunity

  781. to the devil. Let the thief no longer still let

  782. the thief no longer steal Let the thief no longer

  783. steal put that joker in jail don't let him rob

  784. you of your joy and rob you of your peace and

  785. rob you of what God has done he's obtained so

  786. many things don't let that thief no longer steal

  787. let the thief no longer steal but rather let

  788. him labor doing honest work with his hands so

  789. that he may have something to share with everyone

  790. he he was actually speaking of like people who

  791. steal things but we also don't even let devils

  792. rob us but if you still in stop stealing y 'all

  793. that that doesn't it doesn't work well with community

  794. because if you rob and they're gonna say we was

  795. you know complicit let no corrupt talk come out

  796. of your mouths, but only such as what's good

  797. for building up as it fits the occasion and That

  798. it may give grace to those who hear and do not

  799. grieve the Holy Spirit of God by whom you were

  800. sealed by the day of redemption Let all bitterness

  801. and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be

  802. put away from you along with malice be kind to

  803. one another tender heart of forgiving one another

  804. as God in Christ forgave you Say this last thing

  805. to you And we'll go to chapter 5 next week, but

  806. he says here this truth is Maturity allows you

  807. to recognize that someone can hurt you without

  808. requiring you to hate them And he's working that

  809. maturity in us Getting us to value the right

  810. things maintain what I love this because I get

  811. the question all the time and prayerfully as

  812. you're hearing this you're hearing the answer

  813. to the question I get all the time and what is

  814. that Pastor Brian? People oftentimes they'll

  815. come to me and tell me of some great tragedy

  816. that has occurred or offense that has happened

  817. to them and their question is what should I do?

  818. And Paul's saying maintain. It's maturity to

  819. be able to allow somebody to be able Someone

  820. can hurt me and I not hate them That's the mature

  821. believer that's what Paul is working them to

  822. To understand that people aren't my problem and

  823. I've been called to maintain Hey, man Look at

  824. him say you did it Ephesians chapter 4 Father

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  825. God, we thank you for today and I just thank

  826. you for this opportunity to come into Read your

  827. word before your people. I pray that um It stirred

  828. them up. I pray that it challenged them. But

  829. at the same time I pray that it freed them I

  830. pray that they leave here In a Deeper intimacy

  831. with you. I pray that they leave here with an

  832. understanding of who you are and what your expectations

  833. are of them I pray that they leave here excited

  834. stirred up About that God we talked about at

  835. the end of Ephesians 3 and 20 who can do exceedingly

  836. abundantly Above all we could think ask or imagine

  837. and I know many of them Think that there are

  838. people There are places and situations That are

  839. far beyond your reach of restoration But I declare

  840. boldly here today God To whom the Sun says free

  841. is free indeed So we free that condemning mindset

  842. we free that that that that mind that says that's

  843. not all things some things are possible No, we

  844. free ourselves to all things are possible to

  845. them that believe and father God we are believing

  846. for a healing from what people have done to us

  847. a healing from what being around people has caused

  848. us to bear and Father God, I pray that you I'm

  849. restoring us Restoring us a new heart and That

  850. you give us new thoughts that will prioritize

  851. what you call good and just trust you For the

  852. working of it all We will not lose heart We will

  853. not lose hope We will not cave in we will not

  854. quit We will not let people become a problem

  855. But we will fight for this thing you call unity

  856. because you call it good Will believe You are

  857. the god of the impossible And you can make all

  858. things new And father God Thank you For correcting

  859. us and challenging us today so that when you

  860. make it new We know how to maintain what you've

  861. obtained that as you bring people back and restore

  862. broken relationships and broken friendships and

  863. broken business relationships that Satan has

  864. been working overtime to stir up division amongst

  865. the call and father God I'm speaking that you

  866. begin to cast out that spirit of division and

  867. begin to to work back together the knitting of

  868. the brothers the sisters the aunties the uncles

  869. the grandparents the grandchildren We will walk

  870. in what you've obtained you've obtained unity

  871. and we will walk in unity Our households will

  872. behold We know that that's not something that

  873. is easy, but all things are possible to them

  874. that believe And so we believe God We believe

  875. God Will walk in this unity we will get the fruit

  876. of unity and You thank you God for loving us

  877. so much That you'll reach down into us and talk

  878. about things we don't even want to hear about

  879. but we thank you God for loving us so much that

  880. you care about that that in the midst of all

  881. that you've created that you look down into our

  882. lives and care about the relationships that matter

  883. to us we thank you for caring about us in that

  884. way If there's anybody here today, and you aren't

  885. saved, you haven't said yes to that call, I would

  886. like to take this moment this time to give you

  887. an opportunity to say yes to Jesus. He's a friend

  888. who sticks closer than a brother. And if that's

  889. you today, and you're saying, Pastor, I want

  890. to say yes to Jesus. I'm gonna say a prayer.

  891. You say it with us. Just know that as you say

  892. this prayer the bible says if you confess with

  893. your mouth and believe in your heart that jesus

  894. died and rose again you are saved so let's say

  895. it together church say father I thank you for

  896. your son jesus I believe he died and he rose

  897. again I believe when he rose rose my forgiveness

  898. my redemption my sanctification and I am now

  899. a son a daughter of god No longer a sinner I've

  900. been saved by grace I'm a child the most high

  901. God And I have a home heaven I Have a hope Jesus

  902. Amen, let's celebrate people that said that prayer

  903. for the first time and Also would just like to

  904. you got well we can receive today's offering

  905. and Here reveal the truth. We believe in our

  906. cheerful givers. What does that mean? We believe

  907. that No one should be forced or coerced or talked

  908. into giving but giving is the fruit of what your

  909. relationship with God has produced that you speak

  910. to God and as he speaks to you you respond to

  911. what he said and You do so with excitement joy

  912. cheerfully because you understand that god is

  913. not trying to get anything from you But god is

  914. always always in the business of supplying for

  915. you. And so we give cheerfully with expectation

  916. um because of a faithful god that we can trust

  917. and um, amen amen Well family, I also would like

  918. to um take a time and just you know, I know every

  919. county is a little different but Several counties

  920. are going back to school this week teachers are

  921. going back to school this week, you know Kids

  922. are going back to school this weekend You know

  923. that My prayer is that our children walk in the

  924. spirit of unity this year that they um Don't

  925. allow division to disrupt their education that

  926. they realize that they're not too young to be

  927. patient and they're not too young to be gentle

  928. that if they are saved they have the spirit of

  929. meekness within them and I pray that our students

  930. walk in that meekness walk in that gentleness

  931. and walk in that kindness and that their teachers

  932. are teaching them with gentleness and teaching

  933. them with kindness and teaching them with meekness

  934. and that Our schools be an atmosphere That love

  935. invades y 'all can pray with me about that but

  936. father God I thank you for our teachers our students

  937. that are returning to school this week Father

  938. God, we pray that your spirit invade every classroom

  939. and we pray that there will not be any hurt harm

  940. or danger that comes to our students our teachers

  941. Father God, we pray that this will be a peaceful

  942. school year that 26 27 will be a glorious year

  943. for our students and that you're removing any

  944. distraction the Satan is trying to set up and

  945. the Spirit of God is Ruling and reigning in every

  946. way the Bible tells us that you turn the hearts

  947. of kings to and fro So father God, we know that

  948. you are the head of this school year and you

  949. are the head of these these institutions and

  950. they all bow down to your authority and father

  951. god we pray that your will will be done and your

  952. will will reign and the father god i just thank

  953. you that this year will be exceptional i pray

  954. that our students will speak of peace and our

  955. kids will come home full of joy and I pray that

  956. this destructive plan that Satan has been trying

  957. to put in place to corrupt what is innocent,

  958. I pray that it is brought to nothing and that

  959. every stronghold that Satan has been trying to

  960. develop in the lives of our young ones is destroyed,

  961. Father God, and that they will. be kings and

  962. priests and represent you well i pray that they

  963. can our students can live a year where they are

  964. not ashamed of their faith but they are proud

  965. of their faith where they can boldly speak of

  966. who you are in their lives and i pray that this

  967. the teachers are sensitive to who is in front

  968. of them that they see each life as one in particular

  969. and i pray that their needs are met that these

  970. teachers aren't going without that they have

  971. what they need so the students can get what they

  972. need and that success is the end result of this

  973. school year father god i pray that as your people

  974. we be sensitive to how you're leading us to meet

  975. some of those needs that we don't just pray to

  976. a god that we're not willing to be the hands

  977. for and i pray father god that we aren't afraid

  978. ashamed Be the hands and feet that you need us

  979. to be during the school year that we show up

  980. that we show up That we show up And we don't

  981. just leave our students to anybody But we are

  982. proactive in the lives of our young people To

  983. God be the glory this year Amen Well, I love

  984. you guys and I thank God for you guys you're
