Christin greeting sweet you on this morning. I'm happy to
-
be together in the name of Jesus. It's already been mentioned,
-
and it is him that we have come to worship
-
and commemorate, appreciate the songs that have been sung devotional
-
that has pointed this out to us. This morning. I'd
-
like to use as a text John chapter one, verse
-
twenty nine. And these here are the words of John
-
the Baptist that we'd like to build our thoughts on.
-
Here this morning. I'll read that at this time John one,
-
twenty nine. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto
-
him and saith, behold the Lamb of God, which taketh
-
away the sin of the world. And I've entitled the
-
messages this morning Behold the Lamb of God. We know
-
that John the Baptist came as a voice crying in
-
the wilderness. I'm not quite sure what all that meant.
-
I believe it was meant that he lefted up his voice.
-
He let people know about the need for repentance. He
-
let the people know about their sins. He let them
-
know that there was coming a day, and it was
-
almost tear when there was going to be some great
-
things take place. You know, John didn't seek out the
-
religious leaders of the day and try to to work
-
with them. But he preached out away from the towns,
-
away from the hustle and bustle of society. And it
-
says he was in the wilderness. Whatever that means, I'm
-
not quite sure how the top top top ophography would
-
have been there. But there was something riveting about his
-
preaching and his message. And the crowds went out of
-
the towns to hear him. Says out of Jerusalem and
-
out of Judea did they go out because he was
-
a strange looking man. He was not attired in the
-
finest of clothing. His clothing was made of camel's hair,
-
which I guess would be fairly rough. I don't know
-
that I've ever seen anything made of camel's hair. He
-
had a girdle of leather. He didn't sit down and
-
have great feasts with the elite of the day. His
-
diet was locusts and wild honey. But he had a message,
-
and his message was straightforward, and he told her the
-
people to repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
-
I'd like to read from Matthew three verses five to twelve.
-
We find here just a nutshell of his to the
-
people Matthew three Versus five, and following then went out
-
to him Jerusalem and all Judea, and all the region
-
round about Jordan, and were baptized of him, and Jordan,
-
confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the
-
Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said, under them,
-
O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee
-
from the wraths, to come, bring forth therefore fruits meet
-
for repentance. And think not to say within yourselves we
-
have Abraham to our father. For I say unto you
-
that God is able of these stones to raise up
-
children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid
-
under the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which
-
bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast
-
into the fire. I indeed baptized you with water and repentance.
-
But he that cometh after me is mightier than I,
-
whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. He shall
-
baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire, whose
-
fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge
-
his floor and get gather his wheat into the gardener,
-
but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
-
I suppose that John the Baptist offended some people. Here
-
were the religious leaders of the day, the Pharisees and
-
the Sadducees, and they came to John to see what
-
he had to say. He said, you snaked, and I
-
don't know how they responded that, but he told them
-
just the way it was, and he said, now the
-
axe is laid to the root of the trees. And
-
so the people sensed through the preaching of John the
-
Baptist that there was something that was changing. It seemed
-
that something of great magnitude was about to take place.
-
And there was a message, and there was a messenger,
-
and so they begin to wonder, is this a messiah
-
that we've been waiting for? And they asked him, who
-
are you? He said, I'm not the Messiah. Well are
-
you Elijah or that prophet? Now what did they mean
-
by that prophet? I think that prophet meant, you know,
-
Moses had said that he was going to that God
-
was going to raise up a prophet that was greater
-
than him, that would be I forget just how that
-
was worded there but that prophet, and they knew that
-
a greater prophet than him would come. So John told
-
them there's one coming that is mightier than he was.
-
He said, I'm not even worthy to tie his shoes.
-
And he said, the one you are asking about, the
-
one you were wondering about, he's here in your midst
-
But they didn't know who it was. And you know,
-
neither did John know who it was. He too wondered.
-
He too knew that there was a great event about
-
to take place. He knew that God was on the
-
brink of revealing the long await of Messiah. God had
-
told him that the one you see the spirit descending
-
and remaining on him is the Son of God. And
-
John wondered, who could this be? Then John saw the
-
spirit descending like a dove and resting on the head
-
of Jesus. And what was John's response? He says, Look,
-
the Son of God that takes away this end of
-
the world. It says in John in our text, there
-
behold the Lamb of God. Strong's concordance says that behold
-
is an interjection that denotes surprise. It was almost like he, yeah,
-
he just didn't realize that this man here was the
-
anointed one of God. Now why did John classify Jesus
-
as a lamb? Behold the lamb of God. You know,
-
the lamb was the principal animal of sacrifice and Jews,
-
the lambs were often all offered on the on special days.
-
Each morning and each evening there was a lamb that
-
was sacrificed. Uh the first day of a new moon,
-
each day of the Passover feast, and many of other
-
special days there were lambs that were offered to the Jews.
-
The lamb represented innocence and gentleness. Now, in the Old Testament,
-
sacrifices and we sang a song about that this morning,
-
all the blood of beasts on Jewish elder slain. When
-
there was a sacrifice under the Old Covenant, each sinner
-
brought his own sacrifice that he gave. But now we
-
have something completely different, of greater magnitude. God himself was
-
supplying the sacrifice. It is the lamb of God, not
-
the lamb of man. And he taketh away the sin
-
of the whole world, not just the Jews, but the
-
whole world. For the lamb to atone for sin, his
-
blood needed to be shed, it was killed, and the
-
blood flowed. In the Vitica seventeen, verse eleven, it says,
-
for the life of the flesh is in the blood,
-
and I've given it to you upon the altar to
-
make an atonement for your souls. For it is a
-
blood that makes an atonement for the soul. And so
-
God the Father needed to supply a sacrifice that would
-
be acceptable to him, and he had already said under
-
the old Covenant that it is blood that makes an
-
atonement for your soul, and so of a necessity it
-
must be a blood sacrifice. So how could he offer
-
his son, who was God? In fact, I noticed there
-
I just my eyes went ahead there where Joel was
-
reading in Luke twenty four. Rather interesting there in verse
-
thirty nine, it says, behold my hands and my feet,
-
that is I myself, handle me and see, for a
-
spirit hath not flesh and bones as you see me have.
-
So Jesus was saying a spirit doesn't have flesh and bones.
-
He also told the woman at the well that God
-
is a spirit, and so how was God going to
-
supply a sacrifice? And so he sent his son in
-
the form of human flesh that human flesh had blood veins,
-
it had blood flowing through it. And this now was
-
a sacrifice that was acceptable to God. So Jesus as
-
the Lamb of God, was prefigured in the description that
-
Isaiah gave in chapter fifty three in foretelling the sufferings
-
of the Messiah, he said he has brought as a
-
lamb to the slaughter. One Corinthians five to seven gives
-
a clue that the passover lamb prefigured the Lamb of God.
-
In one Corinthians five seven, it says, for even Christ,
-
our passover is sacrificed for us. And so we think
-
of the passover. We go to the story of the
-
children of Israel in Egypt. And God had told Moses
-
to go and tell Pharaoh to let my people go,
-
and Pharaoh refused. So God sent numerous plagues to show
-
him that he was sovereign, and finally, after reputed refusal,
-
Pharao would say yes, and then he would say no,
-
and he would not let them go. Finally, God said,
-
there's going to be one more plague, and that's the
-
death of the firstborn. And so in preparation for that,
-
God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites what they should
-
do in preparation for their exodus from Egypt. If you
-
want to, you may turn to Exodus twelve. I'll be
-
taking a few thoughts from here. This here was where
-
the passover was instituted. I'm going to read verses three
-
to five, and now this follows nine plagues that had
-
not convinced Pharao to let them go. Verse three, speaking
-
unto all the congregation, visual saying, in the tenth day
-
of this month, they shall take to them every man
-
in lamb according to the house of their fathers, a
-
lamb for a house. And if household be too little
-
for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next unto
-
his house take it according to the number of the souls.
-
Every man, according to his eating, shall make your count
-
for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a
-
male of the first year. You shall take it out
-
from the sheep or from the goats. So this was
-
to be a lamb that was taken for the passover meal.
-
It was to be a male, a one year old male,
-
and it was to be without blemish. I'm going to
-
I want to come back to Exodus twelve here, but
-
I wanting to jump over to Leviticus twenty two, and
-
see what was how important it was that what was
-
offered to God was perfect. Leviticus twenty two, Verses nineteen
-
to twenty two. Ye shall offer it your own will,
-
a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep,
-
or of the goats. But whatsoever hath a blemish, that
-
shall ye not offer, for it shall not be acceptable
-
unto you. And whosoever offered a sacrifice of peace offerings
-
under the Lord to accomplish his vow, or a free
-
will offering in beaves or sheep, it shall be perfect
-
to be act. There shall be no blemish therein, blind
-
or broken, or maimed, or having a win or scurvy
-
or scabbed. Ye shall not offer these under the Lord.
-
No make an offering by fire of them upon the
-
altar under the Lord. And so Moses told the child
-
of visual there you need to take a perfect lamb,
-
the best of your flock, one year old, and set
-
that aside. So whenever there was an offering made, it
-
was not a time to get rid of the scuzsies.
-
Just what they didn't want an animal with lesser value,
-
one that was maybe maimed or broken, but it was
-
to be a male in its prime. First Peter one
-
eighteen says, forasmuch as ye were not redeemed with corruptible
-
things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received
-
by tradition from your father's, but with the brecious blood
-
of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
-
And so we see then that they passover lamb prefigured
-
Jesus Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot.
-
All right, Now, going back to Exodus twelve, I'd like
-
to read verse six. Now they were to pick out
-
this lamb, take it from the sheep or the goats,
-
and take it. And then verse six says, and ye
-
shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the
-
same month. So they were to take this on the
-
tenth day of the month, and then it was to
-
it was to be observed. It was to be set
-
aside for four days. Now I assume I don't think
-
it implies that they would observe it and make sure
-
that it wasn't sick, make sure it was prime, that
-
this was a good a good specimen of animals, and
-
so it was to be set aside. Is there any
-
blemish is there any defect, It must be a perfect
-
sacrifice to God. And so looking at types and shadows.
-
I was looking in the book that Dan Biler put together,
-
and he has a little bit on this, and he
-
said that this tenth day corresponds to the day that
-
Jesus entered Jerusalem, where they said Hosanna the Highest, and
-
they had palm branches and they hailed him as king.
-
But then there were four days of testing to see
-
if this was the perfect sacrifice to be made. He
-
was tempted. He was questioned by the religious leaders. If
-
you want to turn to Matthew twenty two, this is
-
one place where we find how he was tempted during
-
those four days. I'm going to just read a few
-
verses here, starting with verse fifteen. Then went the Pharisees
-
and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
-
They were going to take care of this fella. They
-
wanted to trip him up for sixteen and they sent
-
out unto him their disciples with the Herodian sing master.
-
We know that thou art true and teachest a way
-
of God and truth, where neither carostyle for any man.
-
For thou regardless not the person of men. Tell us ereher,
-
what thinkest thou is it lawful to give tribute unto
-
Caesar or not. Jesus perceived their wickedness and say, and
-
why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites. And then we know
-
that he gave the answer, rendering the Caesar the things
-
are Caesar, and under God the things are Gods. And
-
verse twenty two says when they had heard these words,
-
they marveled and left him and went their way. Okay,
-
so this was the Pharisees. They didn't have an answer back.
-
They found that this lamb was perfect. Well, then on
-
the same day the Sadducees, which were the rulers of
-
the people, and they say there's no resurrection, they came
-
and told them a little story about a man that
-
had married and had died and left no children so on,
-
and wanted to know in the resurrection who's And then
-
this wife married multiple times. And so Jesus gave answer
-
there And in verse thirty three it says, and when
-
the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine. Again,
-
they couldn't gainsay what Jesus had said. All right, so
-
we have the Pharisees. We have the Sadducees, verse thirty four.
-
But when the Pharisees had heard how they had put
-
the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one
-
of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question,
-
tempting him and saying, Master, which is a great commandment
-
of the law. So then Jesus gave a perfect answer.
-
Loved the Lord, that God with all the heart and soul.
-
That's the first, and the second is liking to it.
-
They shall love the neighbor and thyself. On these two
-
commandments hang all the law on the prophets. Going down
-
to the last verse of the chapter, it says, and
-
no man was able to answer him a word. Neither
-
durst any man from that day fourth ask him any
-
more questions. They tried, They tried to put him to silence,
-
They tried to shame you, they tried to find fault
-
with him, but they could not. In those four days,
-
this perfect lamb of God was sinless. He was shown
-
to be without blemish. It's interesting how on the day
-
of the crucifixion. I think there's at least five people
-
that testified to Jesus's perfection. Pilot said three times, I
-
find no fault in him. Pilot's wife said, have nothing
-
to do with that just man. Judas Iscariot said, I
-
have sinned. I have betrayed innocent blood. The thief said,
-
this man has done nothing amiss. The centurion said, certainly
-
this was a righteous man. Certainly this man was a
-
perfect sac that God could give. Now once more, going
-
back to Exodus twenty, at the institution of the passover,
-
Exodus twelve, verse seven. Now this is Moses saying, they
-
shall they were to kill the lamb in the evening,
-
and they shall take of the blood and strike it
-
on the two side posts and on the upper door
-
posts of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. Then
-
verses twelve and thirteen. For I will pass through the
-
land of Egypt this night and will smite all the
-
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast,
-
and against all the gods of Egypt. I will execute judgment.
-
I am the Lord, and the blood shall be to
-
you for a token upon the houses where ye are.
-
And when I see the blood, I will pass over you,
-
and the plague shall not be upon you destroy you.
-
When I smite the land of Egypt. I can well
-
imagine that the Israelites wondered, what is the meaning of
-
all this? So we're supposed to kill this lamb. We're
-
supposed to take that blood and strike it on the
-
little strike it on the door post. And that's supposed
-
to protect us from the death. Angel did it? Certainly did?
-
And I think maybe we'll just take time to sing
-
a song of the passover. If you want to turn
-
to two for this song is entitled the Blood of
-
the Lamb.
-
M H.

-

-

-
Yes, when I see love, I will.
-
Pass I will pass over.
-
Sohole, this morning I get a picture of the blood
-
of Christ on the doorposts of this place in which
-
we dwell in our hearts that the death angel will
-
pass over us. There's judgment is coming, But those who
-
have the blood applied are and so as we think
-
of the passover, This lamb of God was given as
-
an offering so that his blood would cleanse us. God
-
did not present a tree or rock, or the sun
-
or the moon or the planets, which many of the
-
heathen worshiped, but he presented his son in the flesh.
-
God presented an offering that had blood, and it came
-
from the lamb of God. It was interesting to look
-
in the New Testament, you know, really the New Testament
-
referring to Jesus as a lamb is not found real
-
often except in the Book of Revelation twice in John Juan,
-
there where John the Baptist said, behold the Lamb of God.
-
In Acts eight, where Philip had the encounter with the
-
Ethiopian eunuch, he was led as a sheep to the slaughter,
-
and as a lamb before her shearers. And then I
-
already gave the testimony of Peter, who had observed his master,
-
and he said, but with the precious Blood of Christ,
-
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. But
-
then we come to the Book of Revelation, and here
-
the lamb is mentioned twenty eight times. To give a
-
little bit of an introduction to that. If you want
-
to turn to Revelation, we could look at that a
-
little bit. I'm going to read just several verses from
-
the first chapter, Chapter one, verses four to six, John,
-
to the seven churches which are in Asia, grace be
-
unto you and peace from Him which is and which was,
-
and which is to come, and from the seventh Spirit
-
star before his throne, from Jesus Christ, to is a
-
faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and
-
the Prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him
-
that loved us and washed us from our sins in
-
his own blood, and has made us kings and priests
-
unto God and his father to him be glorying dominion
-
forever and ever. So here talks about him that washed
-
us from our sins in his own blood. And then
-
it seems that chapter five is the introduction to the Lamb.
-
And I think I'm going to just take the time
-
to read this entire chapter, and would notice a number
-
of times where the Lamb is mentioned. Revelation five. And
-
I saw in the right hand of him that sat
-
on the throne of book written within and on the
-
back side, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a
-
strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, who is worthy
-
to open the book and to loose the seals are
-
of And no man in in heaven, nor on earth,
-
neither under the earth, was able to open the book,
-
neither to look thereon. And I wept much because no
-
man was found worthy to open and to read the book,
-
neither to look thereon. And one of the elders said,
-
in to be weeped, not behold the lion of the
-
tribe of Judah, the root of David hath prevailed to
-
open the book and to loose the seven seals areof.
-
And I beheld, and low in the midst of the
-
throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst
-
of the elders, stood a lamb, as it had been slain,
-
having the seven horns and seven eyes, which are the
-
seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
-
And he came and took the book out of the
-
right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And
-
when he had taken the book, the four beasts and
-
the four and twenty elders fell down before the lamb,
-
having every one of them harps and golden vowels full
-
of odors, which are the prayers of the saints. And
-
they sung a new song, saying, now art worthy to
-
take the book and to open the seals are of.
-
For thee was slain, and has redeemed us to God
-
by thy blood, out of every kindred and tongue, and
-
people and nations, and has made us under our God,
-
kings and priests, and we shall rade on the earth.
-
And I be held, and I heard the voice of
-
many angels run round about the throne, and the beasts
-
and the elders, and the number of them was ten
-
thousand times ten thousands and thousands of thousands, saying with
-
a loud voice, worthy is the Lamb there was slain
-
to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength, and
-
honor and glory and blessing. And every creature which is
-
in heaven and on the earth, and under the earth,
-
and such as are the sea, and all that are
-
in them, heard I saying, blessing and honor and glory
-
and power be unto him that sit upon the throne,
-
and unto the Lamb, forever and ever. And the four
-
beasts said amen, And the four and twenty dollars fell
-
down and worshiped him that liveth forever and ever. And
-
so we see here an introduction to the Lamb, the
-
one that was slain. I'm not going to take time
-
to read all the references to the Lamb and Revelation,
-
but I would like to read just a few more.
-
Going to chapter seven, verse fourteen says and I said
-
unto him, sir, thou knowest. And he said to me,
-
these are they which came out of great tribulation, and
-
have washed their robes and made them white in the
-
blood of the Lamb, sins, taking away robes made white,
-
the blood cleansing. Going over to chapter fifteen, verse three,
-
and they sing the song of Moses, the Servant of God,
-
and the song of the Lamb, saying, great and marvelous
-
are their works, Lord God, Almighty, Just and true are
-
the ways our king of Saints. Sometimes we sing that song,
-
the song of Moses the Lamb. What is that song?
-
I'm not sure what it all is, but I think
-
it's a song of deliverance. The song of Moses was
-
after they had crossed the Red Sea and had escaped
-
the clutches of Pharaoh. And the song of the Lamb
-
is also a song of deliverance from sin. Then, going
-
on to chapter nineteen, we have the picture of a marriage,
-
the marriage supper of the Lamb, verses seven and nine.
-
Let us be glad and rejoice and give honor to him,
-
for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his
-
wife has made herself ready verse nine. And he said
-
it to me, right blessed or they which are called
-
under the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said
-
it to me, These are the true sayings of God.
-
If we go to chapter twenty one. We find there
-
a picture of the new Jerusalem, and it's interesting, you know,
-
how much of that's literal, how much of its figurative.
-
I guess that's that's open for consideration. But in that
-
description the Lamb is mentioned five times. There's no need
-
of a temple there the Lord God Almighty, and the
-
Lamb is the temple. There's no need of the sun
-
or moon, for the Lamb is the light. And then
-
I'd like to read the first three verses of the
-
last chapter of the Bible. And he showed me a
-
pure river, water of life, clears crystal, proceeding out of
-
the Throne of God and of the Lamb. In the
-
midst of the street of it. On either side of
-
the river was there the tree of life, which bear
-
twelve manner of fruits, and yielder fruit every month. And
-
the leaves of the tree were for the healing of
-
the nations. And there shall be no more curse but
-
the throne of God, the throne of God and of
-
the Lamb, shall be in it, and his servants shall
-
serve him. So I'm thankful this morning for this Lamb.
-
The other evening, brother Samuel was talking to me, and
-
he said, as he was looking forward to communion, he
-
was looking at John six and saw some interesting things there.
-
So I looked at that, and he's right. John six
-
is where Jesus fed the five thousand, and then the people,
-
of course wanted to make him a king because he
-
fed them. I'm going to read just a little bit
-
from John six, Verses thirty two thirty five. Then Jesus
-
said on them, verly, verly, asay to you, Moses gave
-
you not that bread from heaven. But my Father giveth
-
you the true bread from heaven, for the bread of God,
-
as he was coming down from heaven and giveth life
-
into the world. Then they said, unto him, Lord, everymore,
-
give us his bread. And Jesus said to them, I
-
am the bread of life. He that cometh to me
-
shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall
-
never thirst. And then going down to verse forty eight,
-
I am that bread of life. And he goes on
-
and says talks about the Manna, and then verses fifty
-
three and following Then Jesus said to them, verily, verily,
-
I sent to you, except you eat the flesh of
-
the Son of Man and drink his blood. You have
-
no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh
-
my blood hath eternal life. And I will raise him
-
up at the last day. For my flesh is meat, indeed,
-
and my blood is drink Indeed, he that eateth my
-
flesh and drinketh my blood dwelleth in me, and I
-
in him, as a living Father has sent me, and
-
I lived by the Father. So he that eatth me,
-
even he shall live by me. This is that bread
-
which came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did
-
eat mana and are dead. He that eateth this bread
-
shall live forever. And so we have here the picture
-
of the body of Jesus being bread, and we commemorate
-
that today with bread. And the blood of Jesus is
-
likened to the or, I should say, the wine or
-
the grape juice is likened to the blood of Jesus.
-
Whoever drinks that will live forever. And so we know
-
that this lamb's body was broken. We know that this
-
lamb gave his lifeblood. I could maybe use a little
-
bit of help on this. I was curious, maybe you
-
can help it with this. But in the four Gospels
-
we have Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I do not
-
read in Matthew, Mark and Luke anywhere on the account
-
of the crucifixion where the blood of Jesus is mentioned.
-
But John we do, because it talks about his side
-
being pissed and came forth blood and water. Now we
-
know that there was blood shed because of the way
-
Jesus was treated with the with the crown of thorns,
-
and being scourged and so all that. But just the
-
mention of blood, I didn't find it there. But we
-
do know that according to John the Apostle, John was
-
there at the cross. He was there with the mother
-
of Jesus, and Jesus said, behold I son, And he
-
said to John, behold that mother. And John then records
-
the actual shedding of blood on the cross. But you know,
-
throughout the New Testament the aspect of the blood of
-
Jesus is very prevalent, and I found it especially in
-
the book of Hebrews. Now, when Jesus instant to the
-
communion service, he said this in Matthew twenty six, twenty eight,
-
for this is my blood of the New Testament, which
-
is shed for many for the remission of sins. This
-
we could the word Testament is also covenant. Let me
-
read it that way, for this is my blood of
-
the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the
-
remission of sins. So God had a covenant with Israel,
-
and it was sealed with blood in Exodus twenty four,
-
verses six to eight. And Moses took half of the
-
blood and put it in basins, and half of the
-
blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the
-
book of the Covenant and read in the audience of
-
the people. And they said, all that the Lord has said,
-
we will do and be obedient. And Moses took the
-
blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, behold
-
the blood of the Covenant which the Lord has made
-
with you concerning all these words. Now we can put
-
Testament in there instead of Covenant. Moses took the blood
-
and sprinkled it on the people and said, behold the
-
blood of the Testament. So we have the Old Testament
-
and we have the New Testament. Jesus said, this blood
-
is the New Testament. It is the new Covenant. In
-
Jeremiah thirty one thirty one, there was a promise that
-
there's going to be a new covenant coming. Behold the
-
day's comes, saith the Lord that I will make a
-
new covenant with the House of Israel and with the
-
House of Judah. And so this morning, as we commemorate
-
that new covenant, we realized it was instituted by the
-
sacrifice of the Lamb of God that takes away the
-
sin of the world. Let's kneel together for prayer, our
-
Father and Heaven. This morning we thank you in a
-
special way for the lamb that you sent your son,
-
the only perfect one that could take away our sins.
-
We thank you for his work upon the cross of Calvary,
-
and that he went all the way and did not
-
shun facing the terrible cruel, mocking and scourging and treatment
-
that he did. And so we thank you this morning
-
for that shed blood and for that broken body. And
-
as we commemorate this once more, may it again grip
-
our hearts what you have done for us. We pray
-
this all in the name of Jesus. Amen.
