  1. H h. Good morning, Christian greetings to each of you

  2. this morning. It's a privilege, blessing to be here, be

  3. able to spend this this time together in in in

  4. peace and quiet, blessing to look in the in the

  5. Bible Adult Sunday School at the at the teachings of

  6. or the experiences that Christ had, and it was recorded

  7. for us. The teaching we can get from that, the

  8. lessons we can learn m HM. Turning your Bibles with

  9. me for an introduction, for an introduction of the title

  10. I'll get I'll get through eventually, Ruth Book of Ruth

  11. Old Testament. I'm going to read you read an old

  12. estimate story. And I guess just just a little bit,

  13. just a little bit before that. So my name was

  14. Was was on the schedule here too to preach this Sunday.

  15. And the title that I have down here, and i'll

  16. give it to you in a little bit. I actually

  17. had sketched out in a little bit of an outline

  18. two weeks ago when I was sitting sitting here. So

  19. two weeks ago Sunday, I was sitting here on the

  20. over here on this side, and well for most of you,

  21. you probably haven't heard the term black Sunday. I doubt

  22. Black Sunday, but happens to be. If you spent much

  23. time in Mexico last week, you would know exactly what

  24. black Sunday meant. So as I was sitting here in

  25. this in our service two weeks ago, knowing that my

  26. turn to preacher is coming up, but had had a

  27. trip planned in the meantime, my phone went off, buzzed

  28. and buzzed, and I pulled it out and tried to,

  29. you know, not not not look at it too much.

  30. There was one of the things that came in was

  31. it was a straight up request that your churches would

  32. pray for us. Well, considering the source, the fact that

  33. I don't necessarily do everything she asked me to do.

  34. M I ignored it and I sat here. It turns

  35. out it was it was it was one of one

  36. of our friends from port of Iar to Mexico who

  37. was actually afraid. Mm hmm. My. Between between that and

  38. now we spent we spent most of ten days down

  39. south Port of i Orta. And I would say that

  40. that some of the some of my My My Outlaw

  41. may have been altered, but the title not so. So

  42. turn to the Book of Ruth Chapter one. I'm going

  43. to just read this story. I'm going to read a

  44. number of Old Testament passages this morning, and i'll get

  45. to I'll get to the I'll get to the title,

  46. but first the story. Children. This is one of the

  47. most interesting interesting books in the Old Testament because of

  48. a story that makes a fair amount of sense, at

  49. least as it starts. Ruth one, chapter Chapter one, Verse one.

  50. Now came to pass in the days when the judges ruled.

  51. So that's telling you about when judges before the kings.

  52. There was a famine in the land. Famine in the

  53. land means there wasn't any food. Think Venezuela a few

  54. years ago. Not enough food around to eat, and a

  55. certain amount of Bethlehem. Judah went to sojourn in the

  56. country of Moab. He his wife and his two sons.

  57. Think of the refugees who arrived in this country illegal

  58. immigrants they're called today, That's what these folks were. They

  59. went there because they were hungry. And the name of

  60. the man was Elimelac, and the name of his wife Naomi,

  61. and the name of his two sons, Maelon and Chilean

  62. Ephrothites of Bethlehem Judah, and they came into the country

  63. of Moab and continued there, and Elimelac, Naomi's husband died,

  64. and she was left and her two sons. And they

  65. the two sons took wives of the women of Moab,

  66. and the name of the one was Orpha, and the

  67. name of the other was Ruth, other Ruth. And they

  68. dwelled there about ten years, and Maelon and Chilean died also,

  69. both of them, and the woman was left of her

  70. two sons and her husband. Then she arose with her

  71. daughters in law that she might return from the country

  72. of Moab. For she had heard in the country of

  73. Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in

  74. giving them bread. Wherefore she went forth out of the

  75. place where she was, and her two daughters in law

  76. with her, and they went on the way to return

  77. under the land of Judah. And Naomi said, unto her

  78. two daughters in law, go return each to her mother's house.

  79. The Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt

  80. with the dead your husband's and with me. The Lord

  81. grant you that ye may find rest each of you

  82. in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them

  83. and they lifted up their voice and wept, and they

  84. said unto her, surely we will return with THEE unto

  85. thy people. And Naomi said, turn again, my daughters, Why

  86. will ye go with me? Are there yet any more

  87. sons in my womb? That they may be your your husband's?

  88. Turn again, my daughters, go your way, For I am

  89. too old to have a husband. If I should say,

  90. I have hope if I should have a husband also tonight,

  91. and should also bear sons, would you tarry for them

  92. till they were grown? Would you stay for them from

  93. having husbands? Nay, my daughters, for agree with me much

  94. for your sakes, that the hand of the Lord is

  95. gone out against me. And they lifted up their voice

  96. and wept again. In Orph kissed her mother in law,

  97. but Ruth claim unto her, and she said, behold, thy

  98. sister in law has gone back unto her people and

  99. unto her gods. Return thou after thy sister in law.

  100. And Ruth said, entreat me not to leave THEE or

  101. to return from following after THEE. For whither thou goest

  102. I will go, and where thou lodgest I will lodge.

  103. Thy people shall be my people. And thy God, my God,

  104. where thou diest? Will I die? And there will I

  105. be buried? The Lord do so to me? And more also,

  106. if aught but death part thee and me. And when

  107. she saw that she was straight, steadfast, and minded to

  108. go with her. So when when Naomi saw that Ruth

  109. was steadfast and minded to go with her, then she left,

  110. speaking unto her. So the two went until they came

  111. to Bethlehem. And it came to pass when they were

  112. come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them,

  113. and they said, is this Naomi? And she said, unto them,

  114. call me, not Naomi, call me Mara. For the Almighty

  115. Hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full,

  116. and the Lord have brought me home again empty. Why

  117. then call ye Naomi. Seeing the Lord Hath testified against me,

  118. and the Almighty Hath afflicted me. So Naomi returned and

  119. Ruth the Moabidas her daughter in law with her, which

  120. returned out of the country of Moab, and they came

  121. to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest, So the

  122. beginning of the summer, the early crops were just coming off.

  123. That's when they came home. But the statement, and it's

  124. the Ruth's statement, don't entreat me not to leave. Thee

  125. qu quit trying to get me to leave. For whither

  126. thou goest, I will go where thou lodgest, I will lodge.

  127. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my god.

  128. Her statement to thy people my people, who are my people?

  129. I guess you can put that down as a tie

  130. if you're hunting for one of those who are my people?

  131. What did Ruth mean when she said my people and

  132. thy people? What do you mean when you say my people?

  133. So this morning I'm going to I've got a couple

  134. of points here. What does God mean when he says

  135. my people? And what do you mean when you say

  136. my people? And then some points on finding your people?

  137. Mm hmm. Like I said, we two sundays ago, sitting here,

  138. I were suddenly faced with a with an interesting question.

  139. So we've, as as you know, we've put some time

  140. and some effort into a small community in Puertobayar to Mexico,

  141. and we were planning to fly down there, had plane

  142. tickets bought, and then we heard two sundays ago on

  143. what's referred to in Jalisco State, as Black Sunday, that

  144. there's violence, that there's problems, the fear that I referenced.

  145. I'll just give you a little bit of the a

  146. little bit of a little bit of the story cartel violence.

  147. We we all, we've we've we've grown up for the

  148. last twenty thirty years. We have, we have, we've we

  149. know that that happens, that that that that organized crime

  150. south of the border get run is just that it's

  151. organized crime. It's it's criminal activity, and it runs, it

  152. runs a mock and it does things that the officials,

  153. the government it says they shouldn't be doing. The event

  154. was kicked off by the Mexican military or some special unit.

  155. Having taken out went after a drug kingpin from the

  156. with pressure and help from this country, the United States.

  157. So the way there's the way these organized crime syndicates

  158. work is there's there's a there's there's some there's some

  159. brains behind it, and they're making moves and they're doing things.

  160. But layers don't talk to each other. I mean they

  161. visualize five different layers of people talking to each other,

  162. giving orders, getting orders, and getting paid, and it trickles

  163. all the way down to very young people so Sunday,

  164. Sunday morning, early two weeks ago, a message went out

  165. to people, and people got a message on their phone,

  166. a text from their boss saying, hey, show up today,

  167. we have work to do. They just captured Mencho. Capturing

  168. Mencho means that that our real boss, who we've never seen,

  169. is captured, and our next job is to put the pressure,

  170. put pressure on the government to release him. So your

  171. job and this this order was given to actually not

  172. younger than the first two benches, but twelve to fifteen

  173. year olds were a lot of them. Go raise a rackus,

  174. go raise a disturbance. Here's a can of gas, here's

  175. here's matches, burn cars, plug intersections. The police, the military,

  176. they just all disappeared. They were not present. You can

  177. speculate on why why that was. I think it has

  178. to do with knowing some of the some of the

  179. rest of the orders. The the the orders to the

  180. low level cartel operatives was causer rakas engage and engage

  181. law enforcement, as in start shooting law enforcement. Stayed down.

  182. The people were told do not leave your house, stay

  183. in your houses, get back to your houses. And in

  184. fact we talked to one heard one story. You remember children.

  185. You remember your summer Bible school last year, the where

  186. you sent the money when you got done, by the way,

  187. thank thank you for that. You were you were thanked

  188. again for that. But Refuge of Hope, a children's home,

  189. had a story from a man who from a male nurse.

  190. He works there. He was, he was off Sunday, he

  191. was he went home, he went to visit or he

  192. went to visit someone south of town, south of Pertabayarta.

  193. Then he got caught on the road, came up upon

  194. a crosswise burning bus. We can't drive farther, we just

  195. have to stop. He turned around to go back the

  196. other way, which he didn't really want to go, and

  197. he didn't go very far down the road, and it's

  198. a narrow, little nasty two lane road, and he comes

  199. up against another burning bus crosswise with masked men standing

  200. there saying, you can't go through here, go back the

  201. other way. So he went off. He actually turned off

  202. and hit his car in the bushes and found a

  203. found a house to a house to knocked on a

  204. and invited himself in, said I need to stay here.

  205. Fearful people. Who are these people? The fear the fear

  206. was actually was actually fairly well, well, well justified is

  207. this man? Several hours several hours went by. He went

  208. back up, left his car in the bushes, went back

  209. up on the road, walked, walked down, found the burning

  210. bus and asked the masked man there, when can I

  211. go through? By then? The bus is burning? Is just

  212. a skeleton done, burning skeleton sitting there? And the guy said,

  213. we're still here waiting for orders. But you shouldn't have

  214. come out at one o'clock. Our orders are to kill

  215. everyone who arrives. We didn't shoot because we didn't get

  216. the order. That's why you're alive. So this nurse he

  217. went back, He went back and waited. He went back.

  218. He was fearful. So that's those are the things that

  219. are happening now. That was happening to people who we

  220. don't well, most of us here don't know. Some of

  221. us here have have some friends there. Hm. We decided,

  222. I decided, I'm not sure who decided, but if the

  223. air if the airplane was gonna go, we were gonna

  224. fly south when when when our when our tickets were scheduled,

  225. and I'm glad we did. It was a it was

  226. an interesting it was a thing actually Jason brother Jason's

  227. talks on grief and loss, some of those things came

  228. up in my mind because because people from well just

  229. just about just about everybody we ran into, everybody to

  230. talk to for a few days, needed to talk about

  231. what happened on Sunday and where they had lost something

  232. that see they had They had lost mostly an illusion.

  233. Now we've known that that cartel violence happens in third

  234. world countries, and the people of Puerto Ayarta, that particular town,

  235. because of the nineteen sixties and seventies investment in tourism,

  236. have told themselves and me and you and anybody that

  237. listen that that this doesn't happen in our town. Not

  238. a co violence. That's that's you know, that's out in

  239. the hills. That's the south, that's the North, Sinalo, that's

  240. the other states, that's the other people. But those the

  241. people of that town actually believed that it would not

  242. happen in their town. And so what they lost was

  243. it was an illusion, but it was a loss nonetheless,

  244. and they needed to talk about it. They needed to

  245. talk about where they were and how they felt and

  246. what they just you had to hear the story, and

  247. it was good. It was good for us to be

  248. there and witness witness that. Now it was a little,

  249. I'll admit a little, a little disconcerting. Air travel is annoying,

  250. and airplane seats are too tight, and full flights are

  251. just irritating for everybody. But the plane we boarded and

  252. Los Angeles, flying south, we were well, everybody could have

  253. three seats. There was lots of room in that plane.

  254. There was thirty people. Thirty people on a flight that

  255. should have been one hundred and fifty, one hundred and eighty.

  256. I don't know what a plane what That size plane

  257. normally holds white people on the plane. There's usually lots

  258. of tourists going south. There were not My family represented.

  259. Most of the white faces on the plane. Everybody in

  260. the plane could speak Spanish except Davis maybe can't speak

  261. very much, but he's coming. So there was fear. It

  262. was It was a it was a tense time. People

  263. not sure what what we're getting into. What are we

  264. going to see when we when we arrive at the

  265. place where we're trying to go back to the title,

  266. who are my people? Old Testament? Now God that this

  267. this this phrase, this little blip my people is something

  268. that God, that that we find in the Bible. And

  269. I was a little bit startled when I was when

  270. I was started doing a little bit of research. Key

  271. in my people, and look at where these where where

  272. would you find that those two words together in the Bible?

  273. My people, Well, a couple of verses will start surfacing

  274. in your mind, the ones you've memorized. Second chronicles. You know,

  275. if my people what you call of my name actual

  276. we turned there, We're going to read that passage as well,

  277. second Chronicle seven. But that that word combination my people

  278. two hundred and eighty times in the Old Testament, is

  279. that phrase is found the New Testament grand total of six,

  280. with two of those being direct quotes from an Old

  281. Testament verse. And anyway, there's they're, they're yeah, it's just

  282. not found in the New Testament. A little bit, a

  283. little bit. Old Testament was a lot of writing by

  284. the prophets and the people writing about the people, writing, telling,

  285. telling God's story and and recording, you know, and the

  286. Lord said dot dot my people two hundred and eighty

  287. times in the Old Testament. We find those words second

  288. Chronicle seven. What does God mean when he says, my people,

  289. I think we we kind of know that God. God

  290. was talking about his his chosen. He was talking a

  291. lot of that time about a lot of those references

  292. are were too to his people, what he called his people,

  293. the ones that you know well pre coming out of Egypt.

  294. There's not not not so much. But for sure from

  295. that time on Moses and forward, God said, my people, Well,

  296. it's it's recorded lots and lots of times. Second Chronicle seven. Yeah,

  297. I think I gotta. I'll take the time to read

  298. this second Chronicle seven. In verse four, this is is

  299. where I'll start reading. God says this, Well, this is Solomon,

  300. Solomon and the Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the temple,

  301. and the king and all the people offered sacrifices before

  302. the Lord and King. Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty

  303. two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep.

  304. A you, this is just background to this story. Verse eight.

  305. And the same time, Solomon kept the feasts of seven days,

  306. and all isra with him. It was a very great

  307. congregation from the entering ind of Haymouth into the river

  308. of Egypt. And in the eighth day they made a

  309. solemn assembly, for they had kept the dedication of the

  310. altar seven days and the feast seven days. And on

  311. the three and twentieth day of the seventh month, he

  312. sent the people away into their tents, glad and mary

  313. in heart for the goodness that the Lord had showed

  314. unto David and to Solomon and to Israel his people.

  315. Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the

  316. king's house, and all that came into Solomon's heart to

  317. make to make in the house of the Lord, and

  318. in his own house he prosperously affected. And the Lord

  319. appeared into Solomon by night and said unto him, I

  320. have heard thy prayer and have chosen this place to

  321. myself for a house of sacrifice. If I shut up

  322. heaven that there be no rain, or if I command

  323. the locusts to devour the land, or if I send

  324. pestilence among my people, if any of these things happen,

  325. if my people at that point, which are called by

  326. my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face,

  327. and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear

  328. from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal

  329. their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine

  330. ears attend under the prayer that is made in this place.

  331. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that

  332. my name may be there forever, and mine eyes and

  333. my heart shall be there perpetually as for THEE. If

  334. thou wilt walk before me as David thy Father walked,

  335. and do according to all that I have commanded THEE,

  336. and shalt observe my statues and judgments, then will I

  337. establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have

  338. covenant with David thy Father, saying there shall not fail

  339. THEE a man to be ruler in Israel. But if

  340. you turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments

  341. which I have set before you, and shall go and

  342. serve other gods and worship them, then will I pluck

  343. them up by the roots out of my land which

  344. I have given them. And this house, which I have

  345. sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my

  346. sight and will make it to be a proverb and

  347. a byword among all nations. Stop reading there, my people,

  348. God's talking to to Solomon, and I suppose he will.

  349. We got recorded here so it didn't just stay in

  350. it in his mind God's people were very precious to him.

  351. He knew who they were, and he knew he knew

  352. how he wanted them to act. Just just don't go

  353. serving other gods. It's kind of the short the short version,

  354. because if you do, then then then then you'll have

  355. to well, I'll pluck you up, pluck you up, and

  356. throw throw you out of this land. Turn to Jeremiah

  357. twenty nine. You can see the story actually kind of continues.

  358. Jeremiah twenty nine. We get a we get a picture

  359. and a few verses there of God's view of his

  360. people when they were captives. There was they did not

  361. God's people did not continuously serve him. They indeed strayed

  362. Pegary's devotions. They took the shortcut. They took another path

  363. that they thought would work out better for them Jeremiah

  364. twenty nine to ten. For thus saith the Lord, that

  365. after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon. I will visit

  366. you and perform my good work, good word toward you,

  367. in causing you to return to this place. For I

  368. know the thoughts that I have toward you. Saith the Lord,

  369. thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you

  370. an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and

  371. ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will

  372. hear it, hearken unto you, and ye shall seek me

  373. and find me, when ye shall search for me with

  374. all your heart, And I will be fond of you,

  375. Saith the Lord. And I will turn away your captivity,

  376. and I will gather you from all nations and from

  377. all the places whither I have driven you, Saith the Lord,

  378. and I will bring you again into the place whence

  379. I caused you to be carried away captive. In words,

  380. I'll be returning you there, because you have said the

  381. Lord hath raised us up profits in Babylon. This this

  382. little patch of Versus, there's some very interesting things here.

  383. Verse ten. He said, I will visit you, and I

  384. will I will perform my good word toward you, or

  385. I'll i'll I'll wake up, or I'll cause you to

  386. to notice my good word toward you. I know the

  387. thoughts that I have, God says in verse eleven, thoughts

  388. of peace, not of evil, to give you your expected

  389. or desired end. I know where you'd like to end up.

  390. Then there's the people's part. Verse twelve. You got you

  391. will need to call on me, seek and find. That's

  392. verse thirteen. When you searched for me with your whole heart.

  393. Verse fifteen, This good end is coming. This good end

  394. is available to you because we recognize the prophets, because

  395. ye have said verse fifteen, the Lord has raised us

  396. up prophets in Babylon. These people were going to need

  397. to We're going to need to recognize God, God's spokesman,

  398. the prophets in Babylon. And I'm not sure. I mean,

  399. I suppose Jeremiah would have been one of those, or

  400. else he was talking about a future prophet. I didn't

  401. I didn't look into all those those details. How else,

  402. how does God look at his people, my people? Verse

  403. Peter two. Peter says this, but ye are a royal generation,

  404. a royal priesthood, and holy nation, a peculiar people. We've

  405. been looking mostly at Old Testament God and his people

  406. transitioning to the New Testament. Though, Peter says that. Peter

  407. writes that and in one Peter two, But if you

  408. remember the story, and I'm not going to take the time,

  409. I don't think to read that in the story in

  410. acts ten, I was going to but Peter, Peter had

  411. to Peter had to have some pretty rough things happened

  412. to him. He had to he had to have a vision,

  413. a vision, and he had to go where he didn't

  414. think we should be going to Cornelius. Acts ten is

  415. where Peter's Peter's mind was getting well, God's people. The

  416. term God's people was being redefined, not just the Jewish

  417. kingdom and those that came and lived there. It was

  418. broadened out the Gentiles actually ten forty four. The yeah

  419. they were. Peter had to actually go back and do

  420. some and do some more fast talking to to the

  421. rest of the Jews, the others who didn't who didn't

  422. see the same vision that he saw, and who didn't

  423. witness the Holy Ghost being present with the Gentiles. Second

  424. Corinthians six. Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. You've

  425. you've heard of that. You've you've heard that verse the

  426. phrase often for ye are the temples of the Living God,

  427. As God has said, I will dwell in them and

  428. walk in them, and I will be their God, and

  429. they shall be my people. It's one of the one

  430. of the two statements where where it was written that

  431. God is God is making these this same statement, My people,

  432. but talking to a mixed jew and gentile group. So

  433. if God, God has his view of people. But now

  434. for you, for I, what about this term my people?

  435. Let's let's broaden that out a little bit more into

  436. into well, the the word my is a possessive that

  437. means it's mine. It pertains to me. Who are what

  438. do you mean? What do you think of when you

  439. think of my people? Who are your people? English? Do

  440. you want the English definition? I put it down here

  441. just because it thought about that a little bit, thought

  442. about it again, and finally, okay, what actually does a

  443. dictionary say? People are? Well? People won human beings? Definition

  444. number two members of a family. Well, that's hardly three.

  445. The mass of a community, as distinguished from a special class. Okay,

  446. Definition number four people's plural as a noun. Is this

  447. a body of persons united by a common culture, tradition,

  448. or sense of ship and usually language. Moving on a

  449. definition number five political? A body of voters? The electric

  450. you know the people voted? So you, when you think

  451. about your yourself and your people, who are your people today?

  452. Do you have a who? If you were pushed on

  453. that point, how would you answer that question? Who are

  454. your people today, and maybe another question with that. So

  455. if you if you jump back to definition number four,

  456. you know, the body of persons united by a common culture, tradition,

  457. or sense of kinship. We could call that brotherhood, We

  458. could call that church, our local local believers. Who are

  459. your people today? And who do you want your people

  460. to be when you're at the end of your life now?

  461. For some for some that's about now, For others of

  462. us that's twenty or thirty years from now, give or take.

  463. For some people sitting here, the end of your life

  464. is is fifty, fifty, sixty, seventy years from now. If

  465. you're if you're granted a long life, who do you

  466. want your people to be then? When you need help,

  467. when you can't get out of your chair, or parents,

  468. with the with the with the with the with the

  469. children on your lap, Who do you want your children's

  470. people to be? Is that a fair question? Well? I

  471. think it is, But it kind of comes down to

  472. a rather personal thing. Where we live in a free country.

  473. We we're free to to move here or go there,

  474. or change states, or change churches, or we go where

  475. we want to go. Finding your people. There's a poem

  476. in our song books at least, I think it's we've

  477. shuffled the song books around, but I think it's still

  478. in there. A poem that goes like this, And this

  479. is the testimony of a man, one particular man. He

  480. said it this way, said, people of the Living God.

  481. I have sought the world around. You know, I've looked

  482. for this class. I've looked for this group. Paths of

  483. sin and sorrow, trod peace and comfort nowhere found. Now

  484. to you, my spirit turns, turns a fugitive, unblessed brethren,

  485. where your altar burns. Oh, receive me into rest. Lonely,

  486. I no longer roam like the cloud, the wind, the wave.

  487. Where you dwell shall be my home. Where you die

  488. shall be my grave mind. The God whom you adore,

  489. your redeemer, shall be mine. Earth can fill my heart

  490. no more. Every idol I resign, tell me not of

  491. gain or loss, Ease, enjoyment, pomp and power, Welcome poverty

  492. and cross, shame, reproach affliction's hour. Follow me. I know

  493. thy voice, Jesus Lord, thy steps I see now. I

  494. take thy yoke by choice, Light thy burden. Now to me.

  495. That's a song. I read that poem several times, realizing

  496. that this man found his people stated where all he

  497. had been? Where all what he wasn't going to do,

  498. but he had found he had apparently found a church.

  499. The term my people. When you think of who are

  500. my people, there's a there's a a YouTube, a YouTube

  501. shorts come across my Facebook feed, and there's a one grizzly,

  502. grizzled old fella he uses the term. And that's probably

  503. several months ago. What got me started with this title?

  504. He'd often He often ends his little blip with and

  505. and and you're my people, and you are my people,

  506. he says at various times. Dumb little things hit one

  507. of them. You know, he's holding up a an old

  508. paddle with holes in it. So if you know why

  509. that what these holes are for? The whistle when you

  510. get when you got a licking when you were in school,

  511. that they didn't use my people? You see, we we

  512. we gravitate toward people who've gone through similar experiences, who

  513. who can identify with life as I see it. So

  514. your people is used as an identifier. But flip side,

  515. I mean another side of this, my people, Yes, you

  516. should put some time and attention, You should put some

  517. thought into who your people are and are going to be.

  518. But there's another side of it, and that is to

  519. be the good the good people, young men. Remember the

  520. story of Delilah and a strong man named Sampson. Samson

  521. was mister mister hero, he was mister muscleman. And he

  522. found a wife. Her name was Delilah. But when he

  523. was asleep on her knees, as the story says, and

  524. she said, cut off his hair. She she demonstrated not

  525. with words, men, or where she was got. There's a

  526. whole bunch of things. But at that point who her

  527. people actually were was on display. You could say, I'll

  528. just go it alone. I'll just I'll just do it

  529. by myself. I'll just forget it. I'll I'll just go

  530. chart my own course. It doesn't work that way. Cattle

  531. I enjoy. I enjoy messing with cows as well. Cattle

  532. are all right, they're herd animal. If you've worked a much,

  533. you know that they prefer to be together. Okay, Yes,

  534. there's the occasional I'll call it an adolescent problem. A

  535. t yearling steer with his head up and headed for

  536. the fence or the horizon, or you know. But he

  537. give him time, and he'll probably be back. He really

  538. doesn't want to go live alone. Humans. Also, you and

  539. I we prefer to live and operate as a group.

  540. It's important that you have a group to identify with.

  541. Actually you will select one, but which group who you

  542. plan to hang out with, who your people become is

  543. actually very is a very serious thing. I'm gonna make

  544. a couple of statements right here, right now. Maybe I

  545. think they're accurate. They just they just sound they just

  546. sound wrong. But the group you identify with will eventually

  547. come to dictate to you what is acceptable behavior and

  548. what is not. The group will also tell you what

  549. to believe or not to believe. You see, life alone

  550. in this world is hard, it's difficul cult mm hmm.

  551. And without your support group, you get really afraid. Which

  552. brings me back to the back to the back to

  553. the subject of Mexico and organized crime. So you wonder

  554. how these how these cartels get going, and how they

  555. keep going and dot dot on. It's acts really a

  556. subject that's that that it's a subject that a lot

  557. of people have put a lot of thought into. I

  558. read I read a little article the U the Mexican

  559. government and us think tanks have been have been studying

  560. this thing and trying to figure out how to how

  561. to make this this organized crime, this cartel thing stop.

  562. You know what, they came up with the key that

  563. the little lynch pin, that the thing that would make

  564. the make it stop. Teen recruitment must be lowered. That's

  565. finally what they decided. Somehow we have to get the

  566. teens to stop signing up teen recruitment. Two major factors

  567. in teen recruitment. One is the need to belong to

  568. a group. Every everyone wants to do that. It's for

  569. physical production. It's also for financial production, for financial protection.

  570. Third world countries, Central South America. Poverty is a big thing.

  571. People are hungry. Teenage boys are hungry. And here's somebody

  572. who says, hey, come join up with us, join our group.

  573. We'll make sure we'll pay you for doing We'll pay

  574. you for doing little jobs. All you have to do

  575. is take this cardboard box from here to there. We

  576. even we'll even provide you a motorbike. Hang out with

  577. that group long enough and they they actually come to

  578. believe another thing. And that's the terrifying part of these

  579. of these organizations is their utter disregard for human life.

  580. They just really don't care. I actually have they actually

  581. have a a A vicho. I'm gonna read it. I'm

  582. gonna read it. I copied it down back to the

  583. to the group will tell you what you should believe,

  584. how you should believe, what to believe or not believe.

  585. If wait, Ma Crusade and me Camino. That's that is

  586. that is something that is that is stated among among

  587. young innocent teenagers. They're told that it was my bad

  588. luck that I was by born poor, and it's your

  589. bad luck that you cross my path. That is stated.

  590. It's a fatalistic statement, but there are thousands who believe that.

  591. Their group, the group they've thrown in with, says, forget morals,

  592. you're hungry, here's work to do. Just follow orders and

  593. a terrible disregard for human life. That's what gives the

  594. That's what gives the bad guys their power, is the

  595. fact that all the rest of us would like to

  596. keep living. Be the good kind of people. Choose choose

  597. who your people are going to be carefully, but be

  598. the good kind of People's second in closing here some

  599. verses second Peter two verses nine through eighteen, say this,

  600. this is kind of the this is well, this is

  601. down the side of how we should be. But ye

  602. are a chosen generation in royal priesthood, holy nation of

  603. peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of

  604. Him who have called you out of darkness into His

  605. marvelous light, which in time past were not a people,

  606. but now but are now the people of God, which

  607. had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Dearly beloved,

  608. I beseech you, as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly

  609. lusts which war against the soul, having your conversation honest

  610. among the gentiles, that whereas they speak against you as evildoers,

  611. they may buy your good works, which they shall behold.

  612. Glorify God in the day of visitation. Submit yourself, submit

  613. yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake,

  614. whether it be to the King of Supreme or into governors,

  615. as unto them that are sent by Him, for the

  616. punishment of evildoers, for the praise of them that do well.

  617. For so is the will of God, that with well

  618. doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men,

  619. as free and not using your liberty for a cloak

  620. of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honor all men,

  621. love the brotherhood, Fear God, honor the king. Servants. Be

  622. subject to your masters with all fear, not only to

  623. the good and the gentle, but also to the fra

  624. word closing, remember this, God knows who his people are.

  625. Your job in life identify with the good people and

  626. be good people. Stand with good people. A few winters ago,

  627. there's a little, short, little article here by Carl Connor.

  628. A few winters ago, heavy snow hit North Carolina. Following

  629. a wet six inch snowfall. It was interesting to see

  630. the effect. Along Eye forty, next to the highway stood

  631. several large grows of tall, young pine trees. The branches

  632. were bowed down with the heavy snow, so low that

  633. the branches from one tree would often lean against the

  634. trunk or branches of another. Where trees stood alone, however,

  635. the effect of the heavy snow was different. The branches

  636. had become heavier, but without other trees to lean against,

  637. the branches snapped. They lay on the ground, dark and

  638. alone in the cold snow. When the storms of life hit.

  639. We need to be standing close to other Christians. The

  640. closer we stand, the more we will be able to

  641. hold up by Carl in closing. Nevertheless, the foundation of

  642. God standeth sure, having this seal. The Lord knoweth them

  643. that are His, And let everyone that nameth the name

  644. of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house

  645. there are not only vessels of golden and silver, but

  646. also of wood and earth, some to honor, some to

  647. Dishonor if a man therefore purge himself from these, he

  648. shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified meet for the

  649. Master's use, prepared unto every good work. Thank you for

  650. your attention. That's song.
