Great to have you tonight John chapter 4.

One of my favourite chapters in the Bible.

John chapter 4. Therefore, when the Lord, that

John 4 · chapter mention

is Jesus, knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus

made and baptised more disciples than John, though Jesus himself

did not baptise but his disciples.

Jesus left Judea and departed again to Galilee, but he needed

to go through Samaria. So he came to a city of Samaria,

which is called Psycha, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave

to his son Joseph. Now Jacob's well was there.

Jesus therefore being wearied from his journey, sat down by

the well and it was about the 6th hour or noon in some of your

Bibles in the old King James that will say he must needs go

through Samaria. I kind of like the old King

James. Often this is one of the must.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus said you must be born again and

later John would write of Jesus the Son of man must be lifted up

on the cross. Now we need to understand the

racial problems in Israel at this time, for the Samaritans

were considered by the Jews as half caste.

As a Jew, geographically, Jesus did not have to go through

Samaria. No Orthodox Jew would travel

through Sumeria because he didn't want to be unclean to

Galilee. Even though diverting around

Sumeria to get to Galilee would mean a journey of about 5 days.

Remember it's walking compared to a more direct route through

Sumeria being 2 1/2 days walk. None went through Sumeria.

The Jews didn't want to associate with the Samaritan

people, the half breeds to them. They worship God their own way

in Samaria as well. But the Samaritans believed they

were the ones, and they believed they worship better than the

Jews. So why did Jesus go against the

traditional way of travelling to Galilee?

Because in Samaria there was an empty, lost, hurting, lonely and

yet searching woman. In Samaria, Jesus had a divine

appointment with this one Samaritan woman.

I believe Jesus has a divine appointment with all of us.

I believe the day that Helen and myself came to Christ, as I look

back, it was a divine appointment to that on that

Tuesday evening back in 1977 March, we would both bow our

knees and receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

I wish I'd been earlier. And so a woman of Samaria, it's

noon. Verse seven came to draw water

and Jesus said to her, and it seems a bit abrupt in the

writing here, but he was never that way.

It says give me a drink, could you get me a drink?

You know the important thing about this woman and Jesus

meeting her in a divine appointment tells us some things

early in our text about God because the Bible is to teach us

about God. One of the things I wanted to do

when I was a new Christian, I wanted to know what's God like

when I was a kid, you know, I went to all the movies, Cecil B

De Mille movies. I remember going to see the King

of Kings when I was just a young kid, cried all the way through

it. It was just like, so I wanted to

know what's God like? It was this real ache in my

heart. What does God really like?

And this the story tells us that God knows no racial, economic or

sinful boundaries. In other words, oh can't go

there to share His love to His creation.

That means God so loved the world He gave his Son for the

world. Something happened to me when I

became a Christian. Has God changed my eyes, my

vision and he God changed my heart because before I could

drive around, see homeless people and people struggling and

going about their not even look at them, too busy with my own

sinful self. And you go past the Rose garden

and you go, well, roses, they're flowers, they're just for

ladies. And then I got saved.

And now when I see a beautiful rose, I look at the Rose and I

peer at the Rose and I look down and examine the Rose and I and I

see how beautifully it's made and the colour, the colours that

God puts into roses. This is, this is design, this

is, this is the creator. And then when I see a homeless

person, I working, working with the police, I was constantly

driving around Perth and different hours of the night and

morning and I'd see homeless people walking a little long,

struggling and going with their way.

And I'd stop. And when I'd see them, what

would happen in my heart is I would say now Jesus died for

that person on the cross. He loves Jesus loves that that

that guy there because something happened and God, this is the

God of the Bible and God cares about you.

He cares deeply about you so much.

How much we gave all that he could give his only begotten

son. Secondly, Jesus did not just

minister to great crowds. You know you, we've travelled to

the USA couple of times and we've gone to very big churches

and it's, it's sad we don't have that.

Glad we don't have that culture. It's trying to creep into some

churches here was when the pastor finishes, he goes out a

side door and around him a 5 or 6 people and you can't, they

can't, you don't talk to the local people because he just,

he's got to go off into his room and then so there's no

associating. Chuck Smith, I loved we would

travel from Calvary from here to go to a conference in, in Costa

Mesa when we used to have the international conferences there

and there'd be 3 services in the morning of 4 to 5000.

People just packed. And after each service truck

would walk out and stand at the door and he would say hello to

everyone else. They were going at the door.

Hey, from Australia. Awesome, great.

You know, and it was a it was a real chat, a real communication.

That's what God's like. Jesus didn't just minister to

great crowds, but also to individuals such as Nicodemus,

who came to him at night, an old religious man.

And now he's sitting by a well and he's waiting, doesn't have a

watch, but he knows when she comes.

He knows that she comes there every noon, and along comes a

fragile, broken, lonely woman. In Samaria you see both.

Nicodemus thirdly, and the woman at the well.

They had a need. They needed salvation.

They needed to be born again. You must be born again.

So this woman in Samaria was a complete social outcast.

Why? Because she came to the well at

noon. It tells us it's the hottest

part of the day. And that's not when the women of

the village came to fetch their water.

And so woman of Samaria came to draw water.

Jesus said to her, give me a drink for his disciples.

Jesus is alone. Verse 8 had gone away into the

city to buy food. Funny how that works isn't it?

Then the woman of Samaria said to him, how was it curiosity?

No, this is how. This is how you win people to

Christ. How is it that you, a Jew, ask

from me, A I'm a Samaritan and B I'm a woman.

Jewish men don't talk to women, for Jews have no dealings with

Samaritans. The woman, the women would

normally come to fetch water when it was later in the day

toward evening to prepare to take the water home for the

washing and the drinking, etcetera, and took a couple of

bowls in the house. So through the night and for the

morning, the water was there. So she came at noon because if

she came at any other time, the women wouldn't.

They would ostracise her, throw stones at her, cast her away,

abuse her because she was that woman.

John tells us in verses 5, verse five that Jesus is weary from

his walking. So it tells us something again

about the God we serve. Have you ever been really tired?

Like really, really. If you have children or you,

you're getting old like some of you are.

There are times when you think, I think I'll just lay over there

somewhere and something will roll me up, put me in a hole

somewhere and it'd be quite nice.

You know, Jesus got really tired.

He's a high priest. Why does it say this?

Why does the Holy Spirit write this in?

Because he is. Our high priest in the book of

Hebrews tells us that Jesus Christ absolutely knows and

understands our weaknesses and our earthly frame.

He knows when you're a mother and you're struggling with the

children. He knows when you're a dad, you

may be doing a couple of jobs and things are just really,

you're pushing it, you're trying to pay the mortgage and you're

working this, and then you got this to do and then that breaks

down. He knows how that feels because

there was into such a body that God Almighty was Incarnate, a

baby born in Bethlehem. But as thirsty as he is and as

tired as Jesus is, he's on a mission.

And that's the other thing, you know, people are often, I

remember we're going to a men's camp and it was some men are

pretty thick and we're at a Christian men's camp and a

couple of young guys. Oh, we got one child and this

child's really difficult. We got 2, you know, oh, we don't

know. How are we getting on?

What are they doing? The wives are doing everything

anyway, so there's any many kids you got and I go, well, we got

44. Oh, what do you do?

What do you, how do you work with four?

Because I don't know anything. Helen does everything.

Anyway, I said, oh, well, what we do is we rotate it through

the week. We only feed two of them on a

certain day. The other two, we just stay

outside. They're going to come in the

next day and we only have a bedroom, one bedroom.

So they come, they share and they rotate and we say we're not

dealing with four all the time. And then I walked away and these

two young guys, man, doesn't matter how many kids you got.

It's all the same. Fuck.

Oh, well, we, we. Yeah, we can't cope.

We've got 4 of it. One of your kids going to have

to go see the doggy door. We have to go because we can

only how long? We can only deal with three.

And actually, we're pretty tired.

So today we can only deal with two of you.

I mean, the way of the world is ridiculous.

So Jesus is tired. He's thirsty, but he's on a

mission. Just as parents, no matter how

tired you are, how worn out you are, when a child needs you,

you're there. And this woman comes to the well

alone to draw water. Jesus begins the conversation.

He could have just sat there. She could have gone out of

business and went off. And he says, give me a drink.

This is quarter on the hook. He's a Jew.

I'm a woman. I'm a Samaritan.

How come you what? And already he's he's he's just

opened the door for conversation.

Notice how he started and initiated also the discussion.

He could have just let things be.

After all, he was tired. I'm I'm done.

I know I got to talk another day.

I'll come through here and another day.

There's no one else around. He could have just rested.

But Paul told Timothy preach the word, be instant in season and

out of season. That means always be ready to

share the love of Christ. Three things 1.

He did not start with the statement like are you saved?

You know the God of Israel or he didn't go, you're a woman,

you're a Samaritan. You know you're going to hell.

He didn't start that way. Secondly, nor did he start off

with along the lines say hey, you very bad woman.

I won't use the words yes, you wicked Jezebel, I'm talking to

you didn't say that. No, he would have a dialogue.

Jesus spoke to her and Jesus listened to her.

When you're speaking to someone, some people when you're talking

to them all they're doing as you're as you're talking, you

know they're waiting for you to stop.

They're not listening for them to talk again, Jesus spoke,

Jesus listened. You know, good listeners are

always people other people want to have around.

A good listener is always welcome company.

You know why? Because they'll listen to you

and you'll pour your heart out to them.

They don't interrupt. They'll listen to you and

they're listening with a a caring attention.

Fourthly, then Jesus threw out the bait verse 10.

Jesus answered, said to her, well, if you knew the gift of

God and who it was, who says to you give me a drink, you would

have asked him and he would have given you living water.

So he's gone from water in a well, is now brought into

speaking to something going on here and now he's mentioned

living water. She's never heard of living

water. Who hears of living water?

Bunnings doesn't sell living water.

Come to buy 30 litres of living for water.

In this discussion that was being held between Jesus Christ

the Son of God and this empty lost woman, Jesus would point

out three important things to her.

One, who he was, who he was, two, what he had to offer and

three, how she could receive it. This is our message, you and I

here at Calvary Chapel, Secret Harbour.

This is what we are still to be sharing today.

The things we did this morning, the things that Jesus began to

do and teach, we continue. And if more people simply knew

these three things, who Jesus is, what he had to offer and how

they could receive it, you know, it took years for someone to

tell me who Jesus really was, what he had to offer.

Why hadn't someone told me how to how to receive him?

I've been to church as a kid. I'd want a book for going to

Sunday school. I considered myself a Christian,

but I wasn't. No one had taken me aside and

says, you know who Jesus really is?

Well, I know about him, but do you know who he is?

Secondly, do you know what he has to offer you?

Well, I just know he died on the cross and it was pretty cruel

what they did to him. Three, do you know how to become

a Christian? You know, there are many people

in churches tonight that have never been told how do I become

a Christian? They've gone to church after

church, year after year, age They've served.

They've taught Sunday school, being ushers, been on the board.

No one has ever shown them how to become a believer.

Romans chapter 10 verses 9 and 10.

Never forget those. John 316 and Romans chapter 10

Romans 10:9

verses 9 and 10. That if you confess with your

mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you shall be

saved. It's as simple as that.

So first point, who Jesus was, The woman asked.

Jesus, Sir, you got nothing to draw with because she he's

talking here and here and she's talking water in a well.

That's how the world is. We're talking eternity.

We're talking spiritual matters. They don't know what we're

talking about, She says. Where then do you get that

living water? Great question.

Are you greater than our Father, Jacob?

Because this is his well who gave us the well.

He dug this well and drank from it himself, as well as his sons

and his livestock. Jesus didn't tell her there at

the well at noon, Jacob. I wrestled with Jacob, man.

I'm the one that put his hip out.

When Jacob was alone in prayer, I was the one that spoke to him.

Genesis chapter 32. Jesus could have said Jacob, I'm

greater than Jacob. I'm the one that broke him that

night. Nor did Jesus say I'm greater

than Moses even and Abraham, I'm the creator.

No, Jesus kept it. And here's the lesson.

Jesus kept it simple. She was not ready for anything

like all this other stuff about Jacob and Moses and Abraham.

Billy Graham said this great statement.

I study to be simple. You know, the hardest people to

teach are youth teens because they have a capacity, short

capacity. They're busy everywhere.

And when you teach at a youth group, it's really wearing, it's

tearing because you have to keep it simple.

You have to communicate and you have to get them to believe that

you and understand that what you're saying is important so

that they can understand it, believe it.

And so to do that, I studied to be simple.

You and I are to study the Word of God to make it simple.

What Jesus was telling this woman was that there was nothing

the world had to offer her that would quench her spiritual

thirst. This is where He's heading.

The ache that had driven her life, not just for thirst, but

the thirst that she had in her soul that was still demanding to

be quenched, but the world and all it had to offer could not

quench nor stay the ache. You can be in a happy marriage,

you can have a great job, you can be physically well,

everything will be going great and you can have the same ache

as the woman at the well. It's interesting, I listened to

one of the footballers, the Fremantle last year who had been

very successful 1/2 times won the the medal for the best

footballer in Australia and and and as I listened to his

farewell speech he said he had achieved nothing.

It's interesting that when athletes win an Olympic medal,

they win that race. When surfers been surfing and

surfing. I've just read this week of a

fellow called Jeff Devine. I love surfing and Jeff Devine

has surfed and is a very famous surfer and he's given up

surfing. He's gotten old that yes, that

doesn't make it any easier. But he said I was sitting in the

water and and it was no long. I was no longer getting the joy.

It just disappeared. It's what happens.

You can strive for so much and you can even attain it, but when

you've got it, there's nothing there.

This woman, Jesus said people soon become thirsty again after

drinking this water. So he's relating to her, points

to the well, but the water that I and he's bringing up to him,

the water that I give them takes away first all together.

Wow. It becomes a perpetual spring

within them, giving them eternal life.

That's New Living translation verses 1314.

Or how powerfully this would connect to the very heart of

this empty, lonely, lost woman. For she had come to the well of

relationships, and many young girls do that.

Five different times she thought, This man, he's told me

he loves me, we're living together.

But it hasn't worked. You see people look even in

relationships and you know when schoolies is on, it's on every

November and I see them occurring and all the girls go

down and all the boys go down. And you know what they all they

want is actually a nice friend. They don't know some are going

down there and they they're really just because of poor

parenting. They're just dangerous and going

to end up dying in danger. But many of them, you see them

in groups and you can pick out as the groups walk around, you

can see who's the, the pecking order, who's who's the leader

and who's hanging on, Who's the, the wing man.

Then there's the others who are just there to kind of like, just

like to have a nice friend, maybe meet a girl, maybe meet a

young, a nice young man. This woman had thought, if I can

just get the right man, I'll be happy.

Hoping to meet the perfect man. Ladies, perfect man doesn't

exist to have her first quenched, a man who could fulfil

all her desires. But each time her Prince turned

into a frog, time and time again, or so it's seen, she was

left broken and alone. Her life was a miserable chain

of unfulfilling relationships. That's pretty common today,

isn't it? Moving on, the next one, then

the next one. Why do I move on and try another

one straight away? Why?

Why is that? Because the the the ache can I

got to get this ache fixed? She would fall in love with a

man only to lose interest and move on to another.

She was disappointed time and time again.

She was thirsty again. She did not understand.

She was trying to fill a void in her life that was created by

God. This void is loneliness for God.

Each and every one of us identify with loneliness because

as I said before, you can be in a marriage.

You can be in a happy family, but there are moments in your

life when that loneliness knocks, unless you know Christ.

In Ecclesiastes, Solomon wrote. He has made everything beautiful

in its time, but also he has put This is the Lord eternity in

their hearts. We long for an eternal

relationship. Jesus said drinking that water

from the world systems, like the water at Jacob's well would only

result in thirsting again. Broken relationship.

Jesus has answered and said to her, whoever drinks of the water

will thirst again. This water we could write down

the wells of the world, couldn't we?

The well of success. You know how many people are

going on YouTube, TikTok or whatever it's called?

I don't know what it's called something and they're trying to

create a new life. AI now has come into being and

now people are relating to someone that they create the

perfect partner in AI. Desperate.

And then there's the well of pleasure.

Man, Australia is driven like this.

We're all trying to drink out of the well of pleasure.

Well, we're off on holidays. We're off going this.

We'll buy that. We'll do this.

We've got, I got bought one of these and I'll buy another one

of those. And how often?

Well, like, yeah, here it is. This is we're all going to Bali

and we spend weeks in Bali and then we go somewhere else and

oh, this is awesome. Oh, this is heaven.

This is perfect. You can't stay there.

Doesn't last. It's not real.

And then there's the well of materialism.

Well, if we just get that house, if I just get that job, if I

just have that car, if I just have those clothes, those shoes,

but whoever drinks of this water will first again.

So no matter how much we have apart from Christ, we will first

again. We always think that we are

chasing. That which we're chasing is

always just around the corner too.

When you're a teen, pre 16, it is now pre 17.

What was the driving thing for those of you can remember that

far back? Man, get a licence, get my

licence. If I could get my licence, get a

car. That's it, that's all I need, a

licence and a car. And then when I get a job, when

I get a job and I'll be able to have just, you know, work and

have to have my own money, money of my own.

Or when I find that perfect boy, that perfect girl, my soul mate.

It'll be Hollywood then. If we just had kids, perfect

kids, perfect boy, perfect girl, you know, they sleep properly

and eat properly and they don't make a mess and they never

complain. They're well behaved wherever

they go. Or as you get older, if just my

kids would move out, that would be great.

It never ends. But when Jesus quenches your

thirst, you will be satisfied. You receive grace and peace.

Come to me, all you that labour and are heavy, heavy laden.

Take my yoke upon you, learn from me and I will give you

rest. Second point.

What did Jesus come to offer her?

Verse 14 Those who drink the water I will give will never be

thirsty again. It becomes a fresh bubbling

stream within them, giving them eternal life.

Jesus spoke of a perpetual spring as opposed to water that

was stagnant. Notice with me the things from

this gift of God, this living water one.

It's satisfying, it quenches your thirst it it removes the

ache, it removes the thirst 2 It's within you.

You do not need external props. You don't have to buy this, add

that, get this, get the, get the new one.

You don't need anything else to cope, to be cool.

There was a king who lived in a Kingdom and his son was so

unhappy. So he said to his three bravest

Knights, Knights, when you're right out into the Kingdom, when

you're the find the happiest man in the Kingdom, when you find

the happiest man, bring his shoes on, his shoes back.

And I want to put my son's feet in the happiest man's shoes.

So the three Knights wrote off. Eventually one comes back and I

couldn't find anyone that they would sue.

And the second knight comes back.

I, I rode and rode and rode and I, I found, but no, no, no

really happy people. And then third night rode in and

he said, King, king, I have found the happiest man in the

Kingdom. Oh well, where are his shoes?

Oh, he has no feet. You see, the fountain that

Christ gives us is eternal. It's an end to an ache to the

Samaritan woman. Jesus was saying her spiritual

thirst would be completely satisfied.

It would be permanently satisfied.

And finally Jesus now tells her how to get it.

But something in her life had to be set straight before she could

drink of the living water. Verse 16, he says this very

strange. Oh, now get your husband.

That's like kind of like out of the blue, isn't it?

Come bring your husband, huh? Why would you ask that?

She says she's truthful. I I don't have a husband, the

woman replied. Jesus said yeah, you're right,

you don't have a husband for you have had five husbands and you

aren't even married to the man you're living with now.

That's 6. You certainly spoke the truth.

Jesus forced her to admit a sin because there can be no

conversion without conviction. There can be no forgiveness

unless you believe I need to be forgiven.

There can be no salvation without repentance unless there

is first conviction, and that's the work of the Holy Spirit.

There can be no confession, and if no confession, there is no

cleansing and your first isn't quenched.

She says verse 19. Now, notice this little

dalliance here, Sir, The woman said, yeah, you must be a

prophet. So tell me, why is it that the

Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while

we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Jerusalem where our

ancestors worship? He's asked about her husband.

She's gone now. Let's talk to him.

Yeah, Yeah. Hang on.

Why is it that you guys and us, she'd never met a man like this

before. For this man had peeled off her

mask, the mask of her life, and he had revealed to her her very

heart. He had to look right through

her. Yeah, you've had five.

And the one you're with now, he's not your husband.

He's getting to the very depth of his soul.

So she puts up AD to a sign. This often happens when we're

sharing the gospel. AD to a sign of self protection.

Let's talk religion instead. Oh, I've read the Bible, I've

been to church, I've tried Christ.

Or they pull out the old Where did Cain get his wife?

Heard that one, haven't you? How many times they're not

interested in where Cain got his wife?

I've just heard someone else ask that, hoping to get you off the

trail. When people are uncomfortable

with the gospel, they will often try to go off on tangents.

I do that when the Jehovah Witnesses come to our door.

I find out who's the teacher. Then I find out who's the

learner, and I tell the teacher, you're on my property.

You be quiet. What church did you used to go

to? How did you become a member of

the Jehovah Witnesses? How did they trap you into

becoming a part of this cult? Don't you say anything.

You're on my property. I'm talking.

This is my place. So how did so you were Catholic,

what were what were Protestant, What how did you end up and I

and I and that's where I go because you see the Jehovah

Witnesses always throwing out spanners.

So Jesus set her record straight and got things back on track.

Jesus replied, Believe me dear woman, the time is coming when

it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this

mountain or in Jerusalem. Then Jesus went on to explain to

her the right way and the wrong way of worship and we'll get to

that later, Not tonight. She said to Jesus, I know the

Messiah is coming, the one that was called Christ.

When he comes, he will explain everything to us.

Then Jesus dropped the bombshell.

Imagine that he says to her, He's looking at her, he's

sitting at a well, she's gone there and he says, I'm the

Messiah. Wow.

Verse 26. In other words, you're talking

to him right now here at this well in Samaria.

Have you ever heard someone say to you which group is right,

which church, which religion? I remember a man saying to me

and work, well, all the Muslims can't be wrong because there's

so many of them. Well, that makes a lot of sense,

doesn't it? You know, salvation is, it's not

about church. Salvation is a relationship.

It's not a right do this, it's not a ritual.

This is how you do it. Jesus Christ is the one who died

and rose. He is the Saviour and He's the

one that you need to know at that moment.

As she recognised He is her Messiah, salvation poured into

her life as she believed in Him, who He was and what He was

offering her eternal life at that moment.

Interesting timing. The disciples turned up like in

the movies, you know, oh, here comes the cops after

everything's done, you know, verse 27, just then his

disciples came back. They were shocked to find him

talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask what

do you want with her or why are you talking to her?

The woman left her water jar. Note that underline it.

The woman left her water jar beside the well left.

It ran back to the village telling everyone.

Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did.

Could he possibly be the Messiah?

So the people came streaming from the village to see him.

What a change from an empty, lonely, ostracised, broken

woman. She is now filled with God's

grace and forgiveness. Her first once and for all is

quenched. She is overflowing.

She's bubbling over. Oh come on, come on, come on.

Runs to tell others. Come see this man.

Who is the Messiah indeed? Come and be filled with God's

grace and his love. Come and be quenched.

Notice as I said, what she left behind at the well.

Why is this little point in our text?

The woman left her water jar beside the well, ran back to the

village telling everyone verse 28 Because now she was filled

with everlasting water and the earthen pot was not how you

gathered. That lonely Samaritan woman

became the first recorded female evangelist in the New Testament.

A Samaritan woman, moments old in her faith.

God's love was bubbling out of her life now, so she naturally

ran and told others the good news, who she had met.

How long I was saved on a Tuesday.

That weekend we visited all my relatives and all Hella's

relatives to tell them we'd become believers.

We had to go and tell someone the good news.

You know what they said? Nice, good for you, didn't make

any difference. We had to tell them we're

bubbling over moments old. In her faith, she ran and told

others. What about you tonight as we

wrap this up, what wells have you been returning to again and

again? Because it's not quenching the

burning thirst of your innermost being?

I do a lot of weddings. I've done a lot of weddings and

one of the things we do in pre marriage counselling is to tell

the bride and and the groom don't marry thinking he or she

is the answer. They're not God, they're not

Christ. You'll need to lean on Christ.

There will be times in your life when your husband, when your

wife won't meet the needs and don't lay upon them to be God.

They can't do it. They're sinners, they're

brothers and your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Are you going to the well of pleasure?

You see, sin may be enjoyable at that time, but the Bible says

the wages of sin is death. It'll eventually kill you.

It will dry you out for eternity.

Is it the whale of possessions? And many, many Australians are

doing that, aren't they? I mean, the catch cry of

Australia is if I win a Lotto, how many millions and billions

we spend on a Lotto? King Solomon, the richest man,

whoever lived. Read Proverbs, Lamentations,

Ecclesiastes or not Lamentations, Ecclesiastes,

especially King Solomon wrote Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.

He was the smartest man that ever lived, the wealthiest man

that ever lived, and I believe probably the most handsome man

that ever lived and he achieved nothing.

He says vanity of vanities. All is vanity, he said.

Those who love money will never have enough.

Rockefeller, richest man, one of the richest men in the world.

Back a few years, just billionaire, billionaire,

billionaire would make his lunch and bring it to work, hop out of

his limo with his lunch. And he was asked one day, Mr

Rockefeller, how much money do you need?

And he says you always need a little bit more.

Or are you seeking satisfaction from the well of some perfect

relationship? You know when couples get

married and they sit opposite pre marriage, it is the Prince

and the and the Princess. Because the eyes are fluttering

and the the little birds are flying around.

But a little a little later down the line, the frog comes out.

People try woman after woman, man after man.

There are so many children, men and women, young and old, who

are just like this searching woman.

They're broken, lost, deceived, thirsty and lonely still.

The key is to drink of the water of life that Christ offers a

thirsty, weary soul. This water does more than

satisfy thirst, it creates something good and life giving

in your heart. It becomes a fountain of water

springing up into everlasting life.

You and I are cup bearers. You and I can go out.

There's a lot of wells that we can go and sit by.

We have some appointments. I believe that God would like to

send you one. Maybe you're here tonight and

Jesus has said you're the one I'm talking to tonight.

You're you're the one I want to offer the water, living water to

and others of us who are saved. He wants us to go out and take

that living water and introduce Christ to someone.
