The. Title of this.
-
Morning's message is. God's promises are unstoppable.
-
God's. Promises are unstoppable this
-
book. Is amazing.
-
The Book of Exodus. Is the story of redemption.
-
We will come to the Passover, the shedding of the blood of the
-
Lamb, the Angel of death, passing over every.
-
House that has. The blood sprinkled on the.
-
Doorposts of the lentils. It's the book of Deliverance.
-
After being. Slaves for 400 years.
-
The children of Israel will be free, no longer slaves.
-
Can you imagine that? Kids growing up, all they've
-
known is to be a slave and then to not be a slave, to not be
-
owned, to be free. It's a picture of you and I.
-
Passover is a picture of the cross.
-
Slavery is a picture of. Sin the way we hate living the.
-
Power that Satan had over. Us, Jesus said.
-
I've come to set you free in Genesis chapter one it says in
-
the beginning. God created.
-
The heavens and the earth. Genesis starts with creation.
-
And closes. In chapter 50 with a.
-
Funeral The death of Joseph. Joseph type of deliverer.
-
And him being placed in a coffin but not.
-
Buried. It's not going to be buried in
-
Egypt because God promised. It's going to be buried where
-
and promised land. Just think, Joseph said, yeah,
-
bury me. And you know when they did
-
leave, they carried. Joseph's coffin.
-
The promises are unstoppable. What's God?
-
Promised you unstoppable Joseph had faith beyond his death there
-
are. 300. To 350 years.
-
Between the end of Genesis, the beginning of.
-
Exodus Exodus itself covers a period of approximately 40
-
years. You and I today may. 2026.
-
By the way, it's the week that. Israel became a state again,
-
miraculously. 14th of May. Exodus is some 3000. 400 years
-
old. This book, which brings us to a
-
question and your. Kids got to ask us.
-
Why are we? Studying the book of Exodus.
-
Such an old book. What's how does that?
-
Help me today. In addition, some might.
-
Ask aren't we New Testament? Believers, though, we need to
-
just. Stick in the New Testament.
-
Why even? Study the Old Testament.
-
Some people say the answer 1. Firstly, because it is God's
-
word. It's in the Bible.
-
And it is. Paul the Apostle, who reminds us
-
in Two Timothy. 3/16. All scripture.
-
What does all mean All. All scripture is.
-
Given by inspiration of God and is.
-
Profitable for teaching, for doctrine, for reproof.
-
To correct us. For correction for instruction
-
in. Righteousness.
-
How to live godly? That the man.
-
Of God, woman of God. May be complete mature.
-
Thoroughly equipped for every good work, the good work that
-
God has laid out for us, prepared for us to live.
-
It's profitable for us. You and I will profit.
-
By. Studying the book of Genesis,
-
Exodus in addition secondly. Paul wrote to the church at
-
Corinth. In Corinthians chapter 10, verse
-
6 now. These things.
-
Speaking of, Exodus became our examples.
-
To the intent that we should not.
-
Last, lust after evil things as they also lusted.
-
That is, the children of Israel in their exodus wanted to go
-
back to. Egypt and do not become.
-
Idolaters they. Remember, they're going to make
-
a golden calf. Shortly, as were some of.
-
Them. Now all these things happened to
-
them as examples, and they were written for our admonition.
-
Paul's writing to the New Testament believers.
-
These were written for you and I to learn.
-
To be instructed by upon which? Upon whom?
-
The ends of the ages. Have come, that's what you and
-
I. In other words, what happened
-
then was written for us to learn from.
-
To be guided by Jesus Christ is the story of Exodus.
-
It's not just the history book, it's his story.
-
Jesus is the Passover. Jesus is the Deliverer.
-
Jesus is the bread, the manner that comes.
-
Down from heaven, Jesus is the. Fire and the cloud that will
-
lead them, Christ. Is the story of.
-
Genesis in Genesis chapter 3. 15 the Lord said.
Genesis 3 chapter mention
-
After Adam and Eve sinned. I'll put enmity between you and
-
the woman between your. Seed and her seed.
-
He shall bruise your. Head and you shall.
-
Bruise his seal speaking to Satan the coming of the Messiah,
-
the saviour of the world, would come through the seed of the.
-
Woman, Mary, Mariah, Joseph and Mary she would bring forth.
-
A virgin bring forth. A son, the Messiah.
-
Said back in Genesis chapter. Three.
-
That's where the story. His story begins and the.
-
Saviour of the world would come through the.
-
Family of Abraham Jewish Romans 4 Abraham is called the father.
-
Of our faith, Father of faith too.
-
So the Messiah would come through the Jewish people.
-
In Exodus 11 we read Now these are the names.
-
Of the children of Israel who came to Egypt each.
-
Man and his. Household his family came with.
-
Jacob, these are families of believers.
-
These are. Jewish families who worship the
-
Jewish. God, the God of Israel.
-
And they end Genesis chapter. 50.
-
They end up and we're told they arrive in.
-
Egypt first verse of Exodus. Now the word translated.
-
Now these are the names. The word now actually in the.
-
Hebrew is the word. And so Genesis doesn't.
-
Finish Exodus isn't like a. Whole complete new book.
-
A whole new story. No, it's and.
-
So these are the people of Israel.
-
So Joseph died. I'm 10 years old.
-
Put in a coffin. And these are his family, and
-
these are the names of his family who arrived in Egypt.
-
It's the connection. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus,
-
Numbers. Deuteronomy, all written by
-
Moses, are actually one book. We've just divided.
-
Them it's just one book. Exodus is the.
-
Continuation of the story in Genesis of the Message.
-
Of the Saviour, his story, His story is our history.
-
And salvation that was. Told to Adam.
-
Adam. From you is going to come the
-
Messiah. Seed of the woman Eve, then
-
Abraham was. Told.
-
Abraham through you, and he's got no children.
-
Through you the seed. Will come the Messiah, then he.
-
Told Isaac, and he told Jacob, and he told Joseph.
-
And these are the names. Of the children of Israel.
-
Now. The story of the Messiah is what
-
let's summarise it. Jesus is coming.
-
He came born in Bethlehem. Born of a virgin dies.
-
On Calvary as the sacrificial. Lamb of God.
-
Going back to Exodus. The Passover lamb.
-
Going back to Genesis. Seed of the woman he rose from
-
the dead, defeated death. Set the world US.
-
You and I free from. The slavery.
-
Of sin and the bondage of death, the.
-
Fear of death and. Then it says he will.
-
Return. We're living in a time.
-
Period. When?
-
Soon. Jesus will return rapture of the
-
Church. Seven year tribulation will
-
begin. Jesus will return second coming
-
at the end of that 1000 years reign.
-
Then there'll be a new heaven and a new earth.
-
The great white throne judgement.
-
God is personal. With each of us.
-
Did you know that and I? Sense this morning something
-
unusual. I sense.
-
That we as a church. And you, the holy.
-
Spirit was moving through us. That you and I were really.
-
Actually thanking God for. We hadn't.
-
We hadn't thanked. Him we're in our worship.
-
We were. We were worshipping him, but
-
we're really we were. Thanking him for so much we owe
-
him so. Much you know how How?
-
Wonderful it is to thank. Someone you know when you.
-
When you do something. And they and they say thank you,
-
you, you. Kind of.
-
Oh. And you go, someone says you're
-
welcome, pray, go, pray, go in Italian.
-
And we get. Caught by that?
-
Because no one says thank you when someone says thank you.
-
Go oh. That's that's all right.
-
Well, today I think. You and I moved.
-
To a level by the Holy Spirit where we as a church.
-
We came as family individuals. And somehow God got hold of us.
-
Together and we thank God you know what?
-
It pleases Him because not many people thank God.
-
We ask him for everything we want him to do this.
-
We complain about stuff, but we really just thank him and it's
-
a. Good thing to do audibly.
-
Not just to think about it, to actually thank God these.
-
Are the names of the children of Israel.
-
Why have names? Because God is interested in.
-
People he loves. It when you thank him.
-
He takes. Notice of you thanking him.
-
He thinks it's it's it's awesome.
-
It says in John chapter 10 verse.
John 10 chapter mention
-
Three to him. The doorkeeper opens, and the
-
sheep hear his voice. And he calls his own.
-
Sheep by name. So here we given him a list of
-
names. Who are they then?
-
The names of the. People of Israel, just 70.
-
People were going to enter into. Israel, sons of Jacob.
-
Joseph is already there with his two sons.
-
And and God writes the names here.
-
Why do we need to know the names?
-
Because you see to God. Names are important.
-
You know why they're important. Because it's you.
-
It's you, he says. I'll.
-
Write your name. Your name is written in the.
-
Book of Life, it's really important you think about that.
-
God Almighty. Creator of Heaven on Earth.
-
Actually knows your name, I mean you.
-
Can go to. Work.
-
You can work for some big. A government department or.
-
A group of people go. And we in the.
-
Police, we had a number. I had a number.
-
Down the army you have a number. You see to God, you don't have a
-
number. You have a name because you're
-
important because his Son died for you and you can put your
-
name at the end of that for God. So love Keith and he gave his
-
only begotten son and that's why in this book in.
-
Exodus it starts off. These are the names because the
-
names are important to God. The rabbi's call.
-
Exodus, the Book of Names. Exodus.
-
What does it mean? Exodus means escape.
-
It means way out. It's where we get our English.
-
Word. Exit from it means departure.
-
How? The Children of Israel exited.
-
From their 400. Years of bondage and slavery.
-
How? They were delivered by a
-
deliverer. It's our story.
-
The theme of Exodus is. Deliverance and redemption.
-
We will see the message. Of sacrifice Introduced
-
Sacrifice a Passover. Lamb, Chapter 12.
-
The Lamb would be slain. We will see the story in Exodus
-
of Ethics. What are ethics?
-
The 10 commandments are the ethics.
-
How to relate? To God first four, the other 6
-
how to relate to. Fellow man tells you how to.
-
Live on which our judicial system Judas pure prudent
-
system. Is based upon the 10
-
commandments and be introduced. To a priesthood.
-
Aaron, Brother Moshe. Moses.
-
Those who will. Be given a task to stand between
-
God and man and represent both represent man to.
-
God and God to. Man, and who does that point to?
-
It points to in the book of Hebrews.
-
The great high Priest Jesus, who represents us.
-
God became a man represents us. We see God and Jesus, and Jesus
-
represents us to God. And we'll see Moses.
-
Moshe, Remember Moshi, Diane. The great soldier for Israel.
-
Moses. He's the 1st.
-
Prophet who will tell us later in Deuteronomy of.
-
Jesus coming. Deuteronomy 1815 the.
-
Lord, your God will raise up for you a prophet like.
-
Me from your midst. From your brethren Him.
-
You shall hear Jesus, Exodus chapter.
-
One is the story and. Introduction to a time of
-
persecution and of great oppression to the Jewish people.
-
Man, how long has that been going for?
-
It tells us the story as to why the Israelites.
-
Came to need a deliverer when Joseph arrived in.
-
Egypt as a slave, remember? He'd been.
-
Sold by his brothers, he was a slave and he arrived arrived in.
-
Egypt. He ends up prison.
-
It was the 17th dynasty of Egyptian rulers.
-
They weren't called Pharaohs as such then.
-
Who were actually not Egyptian. The 17th dynasty.
-
Of rules at the. Time that Joseph came into.
-
Egypt were a tribe of people. Known as the.
-
Hyksos people, they were shepherd.
-
Kings. They had.
-
They had. Overwhelmed Egypt.
-
And taken control and they. Ruled Egypt.
-
They were Semites and they found favour with Joseph and his
-
people because. Also, they had a shepherding
-
background. Joseph.
-
He dies Genesis 50. He's 100.
-
And 10 years old. And now?
-
The ruler, the government. The.
-
King of Egypt has. Changed.
-
It's the 18th dynasty. And now the Egyptians are.
-
Ruling their own nation. And they disliked the
-
Israelites. Because they disliked any
-
foreigners as they've been. Previously ruled by foreigners,
-
they totally. Disregarded history, didn't want
-
anything. To do with what Joseph had done
-
and Joseph how he saved. Them because God gave him.
-
The dream remember of the. The seasons, the good.
-
Seasons and and the terrible. Seasons and Joseph made Egypt
-
the the the food Bank of the world.
-
As they stored up during the Great Famine.
-
Verse 6 Joseph died and all his. Brothers and all that
-
generation, so that whole generation of people that
-
arrived at 70 dead. But the children of Israel.
-
Were were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and
-
multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty, and the land was.
-
Filled with them now there. Arose a new king over.
-
Egypt who did not know Joseph, you know, this is a very
-
powerful verse for you and I today as to why.
-
We here have. Taken so seriously.
-
Calvary Chapel. To place so much.
-
Emphasis on teaching the children the word of God.
-
You know the children in Calvary kids are going through the book
-
of Romans. Imagine that.
-
What Sunday school What what junior kids get taught the book
-
of Romans. I was getting taught how to.
-
Colour in and play trains. On Friday night, the youth went.
-
Through Bible Prophecy covered the overview of all Bible
-
prophecy. You see, we take an emphasis.
-
That's why I refer. To it now as junior church, not
-
so much Sunday school because. We have the chairs.
-
Set out we have a. Pulpit there as well because we
-
want the kids to. Move smoothly from.
-
There into here and not. Going well, don't I get?
-
The colour anymore? Aren't I playing trains and just
-
running around the room anymore? No, you're learning.
-
The word of God, you're learning about Jesus Christ.
-
So when they move. From there.
-
There's not this big seismic. Ship of God.
-
And what can I just run up and down the the classroom anymore
-
and just. Play with Plasticine.
-
And stuff. No, no, no.
-
You're learning the Word of God and we're only we're, that's
-
only our part the. Rest of that is your.
-
Part at. Home to teach the Word of God to
-
your. Children at home.
-
Seriously, this first teaches the.
-
Danger of how quickly this is just one generation if we.
-
Neglect to teach the Bible to our youngest Saints the.
-
Time will come when it will be forgotten when I went to school.
-
8000 years ago. Everyone in my.
-
Class all the classes. From Grade 1 to grade.
-
Seven knew who Jesus Christ. Was they didn't worship him.
-
But we all went to church. We all went off.
-
Into our groups and. Fridays we went to our.
-
Different churches. Scripture was in church in.
-
School now. You can go into a classroom
-
mention. Jesus.
-
Christ and they think that's just a swear word they know
-
nothing about. Jesus, that's our nation.
-
You know Coca Cola spends. A certain.
-
Percentage from the from. The sale of every bottle.
-
On advertising and they're asked what?
-
Do you do this? I mean, Coca Cola?
-
Everyone knows about COCA. Cola.
-
It's simple because the moment we stop advertising, people
-
forget about it. How often have you seen?
-
Coca Cola rats they've been. On and on and.
-
On, they're just just. Because because we forget
-
Question why were the children of Israel?
-
Not. Just given Canaan as God
-
promised. He said he would.
-
Why? Why this whole?
-
Go to Egypt. Why don't they just go?
-
Take the 70 and head. Straight to Canaan.
-
Land. That's a good question.
-
Why didn't God? Bypass Egypt and all that.
-
Was going to happen 400 years of slavery.
-
And let them just head. Straight into the promised land.
-
One, there's two reasons. God was going to.
-
Prepare his people. For the land.
-
As God is preparing you for heaven. 70 people.
-
Arrived in Egypt 70 the others Joseph and his two.
-
Sons and their families and. Wives were.
-
Already there that 70 grew in a period of 300 and. 50 to 400.
-
Years to. #2 to 3 million people.
-
That's a that's a big party, isn't it?
-
That's a big family. This is the family of Jacob.
-
Imagine all the Christmas cards he had to send out wouldn't be 5
-
bucks and every one of those cards would be.
-
Secondly, God had to prepare Canaan, the promised Land.
-
For the people of. Israel in Genesis 1513.
-
Then the Lord said to Abraham, He told Abraham, this is what's
-
happening. You can be.
-
Sure that your. Descendants, in other words.
-
It's going to happen. Will be strangers in a foreign
-
land. Where they will be oppressed.
-
This is what's going to happen. As slaves, so this is told way
-
back before even. Jacobs.
-
Walking around for 400. Years.
-
This is what's going to happen. But I will punish the nation
-
that enslaves. Them, and in the end, they.
-
Will come away with great. Wealth.
-
As for you, you'll die in peace, Abraham.
-
Be buried at a ripe old age after 4.
-
Generations your descendants will returning here to this
-
land, for the sins of the Amorites do not yet warrant.
-
Their destruction, that's the. Owners, occupants of Canaan land
-
at this time. You see God.
-
Used Egypt as God. Used.
-
Babylon to be a tool. To prepare the people of Israel.
-
In the new King James it says for the.
-
Iniquity of the. Amorites is not yet complete.
-
What does that mean? God will wait 4. 100 years until
-
he. Judges the the.
-
Canaanites, those living in Canaan.
-
He gave them 400. Years what, what for to.
-
Repent to turn to Him. 400. Years is that you think?
-
That's. Pretty good grace.
-
Is that long suffering? Because you know, you'll read
-
later on as the Joshua goes into canal and.
-
We've got these people, we've got to take them out.
-
Why they had to be? Taken out because.
-
After 400. Years, God says this, people are
-
so deprived, so evil, so wicked that they must be eradicated
-
completely, or else they will wickedly.
-
Poison and permeate. All.
-
Those who come in contact with them.
-
Can't have the children of Israel, people of God mixing.
-
Because the poison will come in. And so that's.
-
Why when they moved in? To Canaan land, the people had
-
to be taken out. When you're talking wicked, you
-
and I can't even comprehend the wickedness.
-
You need to research that yourself, so.
-
What? What does?
-
What does Pharaoh do? How does God work this?
-
Persecution one comes into being 8 to 13.
-
Persecution. The first there's going to be 3.
-
But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased
-
abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty.
-
You know the land was. Filled with them, the people.
-
Grew in number, that is. The people of Israel because
-
God's blessing was over. Them remember back in Genesis?
-
Be fruitful and multiply. Well, Israel.
-
Is is that is that people? And plus, they're in the land of
-
Goshen. They're in peace.
-
They're in. Like a.
-
A green room of growth. These people can.
-
Grow. There's no no wars.
-
They got their. Fields.
-
They've been looked after. In the they're the best.
-
Country in the world. At that time, so they.
-
Begin to prosper, they grow. But it was predicated on God's
-
blessing. His promise to.
-
Abraham They didn't. They didn't.
-
Prosper because they were good at it.
-
They prosper because God. Bless them.
-
Genesis 12, verse 2. I will make you a great nation.
-
God said to Abraham. I will bless you and make your
-
name great. You shall be a blessing.
-
Genesis 15 Five. Then he brought him outside.
-
Abraham Abraham, come outside. Hey, look at the look at the
-
night sky, look at the heaven. Count the stars if you're able
-
if you've ever been out in the. Desert and seen the stars.
-
At night, man, it's amazing. And he said to him, God.
-
Said to Abraham, so shall your descendants be.
-
And it says Abraham believed in the Lord.
-
This is where Abraham was saved, and he accounted it.
-
God accounted it to him. For.
-
Righteousness. Now think about.
-
This, he says, Abraham, you're going to have more descendants
-
than all the. Stars in the sky.
-
Guess what? It's not.
-
Until Genesis 21 that Abraham even has one child.
-
Abraham says. Wow, really Lord?
-
Awesome. That's the faith of Abraham.
-
Isn't he? He doesn't even have a child and
-
he's an old dude. Now, 400 years later, from 70
-
people now 2 to 3 million. Verse 8.
-
Now there. Arose a new king over.
-
Egypt, who did not know? Joseph and he said to his
-
people, Look, the children of the people of Israel.
-
Are more and mightier than we, you know.
-
Australia has forgotten. Its heritage, as did.
-
The Egyptians, they forgot Joseph.
-
All that he did saving them from starvation.
-
They'd be just like all the other crew.
-
Except for Joseph in 1917. The title of Australia was
-
first. Used 1817 a hundred.
-
And 60. 1000 convicts were sent. Here in the 1st 80 years.
-
Of European. Settling.
-
We talk about slavery. This is what Australia is.
-
We were white. Slaves.
-
These convicts, if you read your history and those who arrive
-
with them, took their priorities from the Bible.
-
Did you know that? Trusting in the God whom they
-
knew in. Jesus Christ.
-
Believing that the way to build a nation.
-
Was to serve God. And live for eternity the.
-
First public church service took.
-
Place in Australia on Sunday. At. 10 AM.
-
February the 3rd. 1788 under a great big tree by the Sydney
-
Harbour. You see, you and I, we've
-
forgotten our heritage as a nation.
-
Verse 10. Pharaoh says come let.
-
Us deal shrewdly with these the Jews, lest they multiply.
-
And it happened. In the event.
-
Of war, that they also. Join our enemies and fight.
-
Against us, and so go. Up out of the land.
-
Therefore they set taskmasters over them.
-
To afflict them with their. Burdens they built for Pharaoh.
-
This is the Jews. Supply cities, whole cities
-
Python. Ramses verse 12, but the.
-
More they afflicted them, the more.
-
They multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the
-
children of Israel. So the Egyptians made the.
-
Children of Israel serve with rigour.
-
That word rigour means cruelty. Severity.
-
And they made their lives. Bitter with hard.
-
Bondage in mortar, in brick. There is archaeological evidence
-
that you can see where they built all the.
-
Bricks in Egypt? With bricks.
-
With straw. And then later on there's a.
-
Section where they began to. Build the bricks without straw.
-
To make it even harder. For them to make the bricks.
-
In mortar and brick, and in all manner of.
-
Service in the field, all their service in which they made them
-
serve was with rigour, was with cruelty.
-
Severity. We have a.
-
Jewish problem. Ever heard those words before?
-
Jewish problem in Israel. In Egypt in World War.
-
Two, Hitler saw what he called. The Jewish problem in Europe
-
hated them. He saw the Jewish people.
-
Who were? Very good at business, acquiring
-
wealth and. Prominence and Hitler
-
introduced. What was called the Final
-
Solution? It was Pharaoh who introduced it
-
before Hitler. Did you know that?
-
But that is just. From the human perspective, the.
-
Persecution of the Jewish people.
-
There is a. Far greater view of this.
-
Situation. That you need to be.
-
Aware of as we're seeing. In our world.
-
Today, which we'll get to. Behind the scenes of the
-
Egyptian court rules, God is allowing them to do this.
-
He didn't 'cause it. He didn't make it.
-
But he is. Allowing the Egyptians to.
-
Rule and to enslave. Who were once just dwellers.
-
In Egypt now to be slaves. And workers and treated with
-
cruelty. God is.
-
Allowing this? Why is he allowing?
-
This because. God is pulling the strings.
-
It's time to make things. To happen, the end of the 400
-
years is coming. And so he allows.
-
The persecution for his purpose, He didn't 'cause it.
-
God is stirring up Pharaoh. Pharaoh says we got a problem
-
because God wants these. People out of Egypt and into the
-
promised. Land.
-
It's time to move. Romans 917.
-
Paul writes for the scripture says to the Pharaoh.
-
For this very purpose. I have raised you up.
-
That I may show you my. Power in you.
-
And that my name may be. Declared and all the earth.
-
The only reason there is an Egypt.
-
It's because of. Israel, did you see that?
-
God raised up. Egypt just for this time, Yes,
-
we're to pray for our. Politicians, but remember.
-
And I think I'm so. Thankful they are just pieces.
-
On God's chess board pieces on God's chess board.
-
You know where you get. Your information on.
-
What's happening in the world? Get it from the word of God, not
-
from. Politicians or from the media?
-
In Daniel chapter 4, Nebuchadnezzar has a dream.
Daniel 4 chapter mention
-
He sees this great tree. And he?
-
Goes through this dream and sees this great tree.
-
Growing and. It's cut down and.
-
He says to Daniel. Daniel, what's this dream about?
-
He tells Daniel the dream, He says Nebuchadnezz, you're you're
-
the tree. You're the man unless you
-
change. Unless you acknowledge.
-
God. That he has given you this
-
Kingdom, this. Power.
-
And then in Daniel chapter. 4. We read that one day.
-
Nebuchadnezzar is out in the palace.
-
He. Says look at this Babylon.
-
Woo Hoo. Hanging.
-
Gardens we have the the. River flows from the city, the
-
great walls. I have built this and.
-
At that moment, it says, while the word was still in the King's
-
mouth, Daniel 431, a voice fell from heaven.
-
King Nebuchadnezzar. To you it has spoken.
-
The Kingdom has. Departed from you, you see, God
-
raises up. Kingdoms.
-
And he pulls them down. God is moving his pieces today,
-
just as He. Did in Egypt and in.
-
Babylon and he's moving the pieces in our Australian
-
political world and I can't. Understand what God is doing,
-
but God knows what he's doing. But Israel?
-
Prospered the more, Pharaoh thought.
-
That hard work poverty would gradually reduce the Israelite
-
numbers. The workers, the Hebrew slaves,
-
were sent N 1st. Fly in fly outs.
-
To they had to walk there they were sent.
-
North, away from their families. To the cities of.
-
Python And Ramses, they sent them away from their families.
-
You know what? There's a reason for this.
-
Husbands away. From their wives, fathers away.
-
From their families, mothers away from their children to.
-
Cut down time together, limiting time for the Jewish.
-
People to conceive children and to nurture them.
-
To raise them. Also, they're agricultural.
-
People, they didn't go down. The shop and.
-
Get their food. They had to grow their own and
-
to look after themselves. The agricultural food,
-
sustenance would suffer. You can't be a.
-
Farmer, You can't be a shepherd and a brickmaker.
-
A. Slave at the same time can't do
-
both. Hopefully that would starve
-
those with ill health because of the rig of the cruelty of the
-
slavery they would just by. Natural attrition be wiped out
-
and so many would die. That was the plan.
-
Paris is a good plan, but. The oppression policy
-
persecution failed the more. The persecution, the greater the
-
population growth. Now how does this happen?
-
There's only one. Answer apart from the eyes of
-
faith, God's promises, God's power.
-
There is no other explanation. For how this could happen.
-
To an oppressed slave. Driven, persecuted people and
-
they flourished. God turned the.
-
Egyptian persecution policy against them, verse 12.
-
But the more they afflicted. Them the.
-
More, they multiplied and grew. That's staggering.
-
You see, persecution always brings real growth to the Church
-
of Jesus. Christ, China, Russia,
-
underground churches. Proliferate.
-
Grow. The Church is strong.
-
Anywhere. Where the church is persecuted.
-
Persecution always separates the chaff from the wheat in Russia.
-
A group of believers were gathered together quietly.
-
In a home. Scared because it was against.
-
The law to gather, to proclaim the gospel.
-
Two soldiers burst. In in uniform guns.
-
They said who here? Is a Christian and who's?
-
Not if you're not a Christian. You can leave.
-
You get the choice to leave those who are Christians.
-
You stay and people bailed. I'm.
-
Not a Christian anymore. Took off, closed the doors and
-
the two Russian. Soldiers put their guns down, he
-
says. Now that they're gone, tell us,
-
how do we know Jesus Christ? It separates the chalk from the
-
wheat. Those not truly born again.
-
Followers of Christ bail. No other people other than
-
Israel has suffered as much. As they have. 400.
-
Years of slavery, 2 deportations.
-
Babylon. Rome 2.
-
Total destructions, 2000 years of dispersion and the Holocaust
-
6. Million murdered by the Nazis.
-
Satan has targeted God's people. From the book of Genesis.
-
First attempt when Satan knew deliverance would come through a
-
promised child. What does he do?
-
He gets. Cain to kill Abel.
-
Maybe able's the problem? Wipe him out.
-
That's it. Satan then corrupts the whole
-
world. So that it says that.
-
Every man's imagination was continually evil, but.
-
There was. Noah and his three sons.
-
Misses Noah and their wives, but Noah one of the. 8 survived.
-
God must judge the world. The flood.
-
Comes man, that was nearly the end.
-
Later in Bethlehem. The.
-
Messiah is to come born. Through the line of David.
-
Satan. Will kill all.
-
The Jewish children born in Bethlehem.
-
The persecution of the Jewish people.
-
Is and if anyone you. Speak to says.
-
Well, the Israelis. Let them know.
-
Guess. Guess what?
-
Hold on a minute. I said this at the.
-
Football club one time. The reason?
-
The Jews. Are persecuted is it's satanic.
-
That's the reason. It's not racist.
-
It's not this tribe against another tribe.
-
It's satanic when we see people. Protesting.
-
Guess what? Satan is driving those protests.
-
The spirit of that protest? From the river to the.
-
Sea it's. Annihilation.
-
Who would do? That what other?
-
People say let's annihilate everyone that's in Indonesia,
-
You wouldn't get away. With it are they?
-
Doing it on our streets and our nation and around the world.
-
Because Satan is on the. Case.
-
He wants Israel eliminated. Why?
-
Because if God's plan. Of redemption depended upon a
-
nation, and it does. And the continuance of that
-
nation and it does. If you could destroy that
-
nation, then it will. Thwart God's.
-
Plan of salvation. Only Israel is that nation.
-
This is. Where in the future?
-
Days we will see the Church of Australia.
-
Truly grow when we are. Persecuted as well.
-
Church Growth. Here will come when it.
-
Becomes. Tough to be a Christian.
-
So, Pharaoh, it hasn't worked. Persecution #2.
-
Population control let's. Bring that in verse 15, then the
-
king of Egypt. Spoke to the Hebrew midwives.
-
Of. Whom the name of 1?
-
Was Shipra and the name? Of the other.
-
Poor and he said, when you. Do the duties of midwife for the
-
Hebrew women. And see see.
-
Them on their birth stools if it is a son.
-
Then you shall kill him. But if it is a daughter, then
-
she shall. Live when you see.
-
Whether at the birth of the child, whether it's a.
-
Male or a female? You make the decision.
-
It's a command by. Pharaoh, the Direct.
-
Killing of Israelite male infants.
-
Guess what? God would.
-
Remember this and bring it. Back on the Egyptians when?
-
Passover, Passover. Why kill males only?
-
Would that not deplete the slave workforce?
-
Kill the males, because it's only males.
-
Who go to war? That's what they're worried
-
about. Verse 17 but.
-
We see this word. Often in chapter 1, but.
-
The midwives. Feared God and did not.
-
Do as the king of Egypt commanded them.
-
But save the male. Children alive.
-
Amazing, but the. Midwives.
-
Hebrew midwives fear God. They obeyed.
-
God over Pharaoh, Peter and John were called in, Remember.
-
Stop preaching Jesus. We'll belt you and we'll put you
-
in prison, probably kill you, whether you think it's right for
-
us to obey you or not. And this is the first case we
-
see where it's. Civil disobedience is the right
-
thing to do. We're told to obey the.
-
Laws of the Land in the Book of Romans.
-
As long as those laws. Don't go against.
-
God's law. This law is higher.
-
So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them.
-
Why have you done this? Thing and save the male.
-
Children. Alive.
-
Now they're in trouble. You get in trouble when you obey
-
God it. Comes with the 2.
-
Don't. Don't you?
-
Know, oh, I don't know what's going.
-
On I'm Just a Christian. And I seem to think.
-
You're going to get it. It's what happens.
-
Remember, where, where, where the where the thorn in the flesh
-
of the world. Here at the moment verse. 19 and
-
the what now? Before they kick to Pharaoh.
-
Remember, many years have passed.
-
Since the King's. Decree to kill all Hebrew.
-
Born Infants. The king summons them to.
-
Appear before him personally. Wow, he wants answers.
-
Prior to their. Execution verse 19 and the
-
midwives said to. Pharaoh.
-
Well, because the Hebrew. Women are not.
-
Like the Egyptian women? For they are lively and give
-
birth before the. Midwives come to them.
-
Therefore, God dealt with the midwives because of their
-
obedience. And the people multiplied and
-
grew very mighty. Notice they're continuing to
-
grow no matter what. Happens.
-
And so it was because the midwives feared God, because the
-
midwives feared God that he provided.
-
Households for them in other. Words.
-
Midwives. Were normally women couldn't
-
have. Children.
-
And what happened? That's it.
-
Because what you've done, you're going to have kids.
-
And they had. Kids, the blessing of children
-
came. So the midwives had.
-
Years to prepare their response. They knew what was coming.
-
Now. Was what they said a?
-
Lie. I don't think so.
-
Because there was a very real cultural difference that
-
existed. Between the Israelite and
-
Egyptian women and birthing. The Hebrew women had a family
-
style of birthing. In other words, they were very
-
much involved personally, Egyptian.
-
Women took on a minimal. Role in birthing.
-
It was like they just said. Midwives do everything, I'm just
-
help. The midwives did everything in
-
the delivery of Egyptian. Infants.
-
That's how the culture. Was but.
-
Israeli women played an active role in the delivery of their
-
own children. And the midwives just were on
-
hand only played a minimal role. In other words, the the
-
midwives. What they did also is.
-
That they took time in. Getting to the births
-
deliberately. Hello.
-
Yeah, and. I know they don't have phones
-
and they don't have coffee shops, but midwives?
-
Yeah, but Charles coming, right, we'll be leaving.
-
In now we. Just got another cappuccino
-
coming. We'll be there in a bit.
-
Took their time to get there. Went lying.
-
We're on our way. Just got to stop off and get
-
some new shoes. From a donkey.
-
Get to it. We're there, we're nearly there,
-
we're getting here. And they said don't.
-
Call us before the. Baby actually comes.
-
Don't call us before the baby, actually.
-
Comes and so the midwives received a blessing from God.
-
For their courageous obedience. Midwives did not.
-
Normally, as I said, have their own children.
-
What does it? Mean to fear God that these
-
midwives did. They feared God instead of
-
Pharaoh. To fear God means this it is.
-
Believing in God. And therefore fearing the
-
consequences of not pleasing him.
-
You know, I grew up in a home when my dad I feared my dad I
-
wanted. To do the right thing because.
-
I didn't want to have. The fear of not pleasing.
-
Him, but with. God, it's it's that's similar
-
but but there's more to. It I don't want to not please
-
God because I love him and he cares for us.
-
I worship him. And so the midwife said no, we
-
want to please you, Lord. Persecution #3 last one.
-
Pharaoh calls. In a national action against.
-
The Jews. OK, we'll get this sorted.
-
Verse 22. So Pharaoh.
-
Commanded Notice he's been doing a lot of commands all.
-
His people saying this. Every son who was born.
-
That's Jewish. You shall cast.
-
Into the river and every. Daughter you shall save alive.
-
All Egyptians were to Join Now in the killing.
-
Of all Israelite newborn boys genocide, why throw?
-
Them into the Nile. I mean.
-
Ever thought about that? Why not just put them to death,
-
however? Why?
-
Why throw them into the Nile? What does that come into it?
-
Why not just kill them by other means one?
-
It was a. Convenient and considered clean.
-
Perceived way to kill infants. All of Egypt, by the way, also
-
lived. On the banks of the Nile. 2 It
-
shifted some of the. Blame.
-
Because of the way the. Pantheistic Egyptians viewed.
-
The Nile as a God. Therefore I throw a child.
-
Into the Nile, if the Nile was to.
-
Receive the child. In other words, the child.
-
Drowns. Well, it's the.
-
Nile. It's the God of the.
-
Nile, not me. I'm just, you know, placing
-
there. At least to some degree.
-
Represents the gods, Niles. Judgement rather than he or.
-
She who? Cast.
-
The infant into the waters. There was an irony that.
-
God would bring up to. This as well, which God would
-
wash back over the Egyptians after Pharaoh gave this.
-
Command the children of Israel being LED out by Moshe.
-
Moses, and they come. To the Red Sea can't pass.
-
In this picture there, you know the story.
-
We'll get to it yet. Moses prays in the ocean.
-
Divides the children of Israel. Go pass and check in Pharaoh's
-
army, his whole army, all his young men, young boys that had
-
grown up in that time to be men. Soldiers in Pharaoh's.
-
Army, God drown them. Exodus 15 for Pharaoh's Chariots
-
and his army. He God has cast.
-
Them into the sea Notice. His chosen captains are also
-
drowned. In the Red Sea.
-
So as we wrap. This up Exodus one what have we
-
learnt 1. God's power has seen.
-
In the wonderful. Increase of Israel, but Israel?
-
Prospered and grew. In spite of all that, Egypt
-
through them. How?
-
Often in your life. Maybe your kids come up from
-
school and. Say these are tough.
-
Or you come up from work, say to you what man the boss is.
-
Hard on me. He rides me and rails me and man
-
it's just on. Guess what?
-
God's power. Is there available?
-
View for you to grow and increase during that time of
-
persecution in. Spite of all that, Egypt.
-
Threw at you secondly. God's purpose as seen in the
-
beautiful preservation of Israel.
-
We fear we people. Fear.
-
Well, what's going to happen with the war in Iran?
-
You know, prices are, you know, again, mortgages go up.
-
Are we going to be able to survive?
-
I mean. Can I give it the?
-
Church to what's going to. Happen and here's where this.
-
Whole site just just spews out all this stuff.
-
And here's what the Bible. Tells us to do seek ye. 1st The
-
Kingdom of God and his righteousness and he'll.
-
Look, after all, the best. Rest, Jesus said.
-
Look at the. Flowers in the field.
-
God looks after them. Look at the birds of the air.
-
I've never heard I was. Looking at and there.
-
Was a pink and grey. Glass, I Unchained the chains
-
here early this morning, looking up.
-
I was talking to him. He wasn't talking back.
-
I didn't say. Hey man, what's happening with
-
Iran? There's no like what's what's
-
going to happen with all the birds seed?
-
We're not going to get bird seed.
-
All the boys come down from the Bush and we're there when we're
-
struggling. We've got no diesel in the.
-
Bush the birds. Birds of the air Jesus says you
-
are a much more worth than the birds of the air, hey?
-
God will. Keep you.
-
That's his job. Man, that's the greatest news.
-
When I became a dad, hell and I announced we're having a child.
-
Now I'm a husband. And a father now.
-
Oh my goodness. God, it's God's job.
-
To keep you, and he does. Thirdly.
-
God's plan as seen. In the permission.
-
Of severe discipline to Israel. God allows you to go.
-
Through stuff, you got stuff to go through this week, next week.
-
Next month, next year. But he will.
-
He he, he doesn't 'cause it, but he allows it.
-
For His purpose in your life, how much praying would you do if
-
you didn't have difficult times? How?
-
Serious. Would you be about?
-
Praying for your husband if he if things were just really
-
smooth at the moment, praying for your wife got.
-
Allowed it. Forcefully, nothing will be
-
allowed to prevent the. Accomplishment of God's will.
-
The war in Iran. You know the Bible says.
-
I said to the kids on Friday night, Ezekiel 3839 that there
-
will be a future war to come. Not yet future war.
-
And and that it will. Be a time that Israel will be.
-
Living at peace so. There's a war on the moment, but
-
there's going. To be a time of.
-
Peace so God knows exactly. What he's doing.
-
Fifthly, his purpose is unchangeable.
-
The Lord will perfect that which.
-
Concerns his own. Lastly, discipline.
-
You and I, we need. It develops character while
-
Grace upholds US. Paul said.
-
Oh man, this. Thorn in the flesh, man.
-
What? Take it off me.
-
Discipline. My grace is sufficient.
-
My grace is sufficient. In Isaiah 43 two, I'll finish on
-
this verse, Isaiah says. When you pass through the
-
waters. So you're going to go through
-
the waters. Listen to that.
-
What? I'll be with you.
-
Don't say. I'll stop you going through the
-
waters. And through the rivers.
-
They shall. Not overflow.
-
You think I'm going down? No, God's going.
-
To keep your head above water. When you walk through the fire,
-
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, when you and I walk through a
-
fire, he's not going to prevent us going into the fire.
-
He says you shall not be burned, and they weren't.
-
It wasn't even a hint of smoke on them, nor shall the flame
-
scorch you. You see nothing.
-
Nothing. No one.
-
Can stop the promises of God. We will make it through.
-
Let. Not your heart, be troubled.
-
You believe in God. Believe.
-
Also in me, in my father's house, are many mansions.
-
I go. To prepare a place for you that
-
where I am there you may. Be also I can't.
-
Wait, but until then, I have work to do.
-
I've got bricks to make, bricks to like.
-
Just to know you my sweet friend, my friend.
