Exodus chapter 3. Let's read the. 1st 10 verses

Exodus 3 · chapter mention

the midst of a Bush, so. Moses looked, and behold, the

Bush was. Burning with fire.

But the Bush was not. Consumed.

In other words, it was staying as it.

Was it wasn't breaking down? Because of the fire, then Moses

said. I will.

Now turn aside and. See this great sight?

Why the? Bush does not burn.

Says that to himself. So when the.

Lord saw that Moses turned. Aside to look God called.

To him from the. Midst of the Bush and said.

Moses, Moses. And he said, Here I am.

Then he said, do not draw near. This place take your sandals off

your feet for the. Place where you stand.

Is holy ground moreover. He said I am.

The God of your Father. The God of Abraham, the God of.

Isaac and the God of Jacob. He didn't say I was because.

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are. Alive.

He's the living God. He didn't say I was the God.

I am. He's the living God.

And Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Are alive as well.

Moses hit his. Face why for he was.

Afraid to look upon God and the Lord.

Said I've surely seen. The impression of my people who

are in Egypt. I've heard they cry because of

their taskmasters. For I know their.

Sorrows. So I've come down to deliver

them. Out of the.

Hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up.

Notice the language from the land.

To a good and large. Land to land flowing with milk

and honey. To the place of the.

Canaanites and then he mentions. The tribes verse. 9 Now

therefore behold the. Cry of the Children of Israel

has come to me. And I've also seen the

oppression with which the Egyptians.

Oppressed them, In other words, the cruelty.

Come now therefore and I will send.

You to pharaoh that. You may bring my people the

children of. Israel out of Egypt.

Moses spent the 1st 40 years of his life.

Growing up and being educated. In the elite Egyptian culture

and schools education, they had mathematics, algebra, geometry,

they studied embalming, they had dentistry.

There are a brilliant people, and Moses learned all.

This. But you know what happened?

He killed an Egyptian who was trying to kill a Hebrew, and the

word had got around and he. Took off because he.

Was then sentenced to death. Pharaoh said find him and kill

him. So he fled Egypt for fear.

Of his life and then. Moses spent the next. 40.

Years serving his father in law, Jethro as a shepherd of his.

Flocks and Midian. Midian is.

Called the backside of the desert, it's.

Isolated. Nothing there.

So Moses. Is now 80 years old and as a

shepherd of a sheep. In the desert, imagine we know

what it's like when we drive in the Outlook.

Pharaoh's Court. Raised up as the adopted.

and how he still prayed. For his people, because he.

Now Moses worked every day. You'll notes in those. 40 years

as a shepherd. There's no time off.

For a shepherd, you can't go well, I'm going to take two

weeks off. Go on a holiday the.

Sheep have to be watched over. 24 hours a day.

Seven days a week, there's no there's no break.

The Bible teaches us that God calls people who are not idle.

Even notice. That God calls people.

Who are not idle. People who are busy already.

In the things of the. Lord are always the.

Ones, if they get another job, they'll do that as well.

Gideon, remember, God spoke to him.

What was he doing? He was threshing grain.

In Judges chapter 6, he was busy.

Samuel and. Here's the thing I want you to

think about this. I really want you to concentrate

Was busy serving in the temple. There's no age.

Limit to when you can. Serve the Lord you.

A little more slumber. A little folding of the hands.

To rest then. Poverty will pounce.

On you like a bandit. Scarcity will attack.

You like an armed robber? 2nd Thessalonians chapter 3,

You, we commended you this. If anyone will not work.

Neither shall they eat. For we hear that there are some

who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working

at all. Bludges, but our busy bodies

now, those who are such. We command and.

Exhort through our Lord. Jesus is coming from God.

That they work. In quietness and eat their own

bread, no handouts. For blood just.

To them, they don't even. Believe that the Bible is

literal. They don't.

They don't believe. In the word of God, but they

have. Scholastic Education.

Theological Education. But notice God trains in a very

different way. How did he train?

Moses had him be alone. In the desert watching sheep for

40 years. Think about that as an.

Education, Paul the Great Saul of Tarsus.

Studied on the Galileo. What did God do?

With him when he got. Saved Saul.

Now I'm going to call you Paul. I want to send you.

To Harvard. Princeton University of WA.

Nazareth because everywhere is up and everywhere is down.

It's a terrible place in that regard.

Jesus spent how long there? 30 years before his first.

Public appearance in the ministry.

Of three years. And then when Jesus was

ministering, how often did Jesus go?

Into a place of solitude. And spend time away from the

gaze of men to be alone with the.

Father, you see, God trains. His workers, but not in.

The way of the world. Anyone who ventures?

Forth to serve the Lord before he or she has sat.

Often alone with God. Is akin to putting.

A ship out to the ocean to sail off into the.

Seas, the open seas. Without a proper ballast.

Or a deep ocean keel. Because in the first real.

Storm. That ship without a deep keel,

without ballast, will be capsized by the 1st ferocious

waves they face. We used to say in the police

First angry man and we had some people.

Go out. And they were.

Knowledge of the law. And they faced their first angry

man. And they went.

I can't. Do this and they quit because

you see, when you're police, it's not everyone's nice to see

Moses was in the Tabernacle. And he left the Tabernacle.

He stayed, didn't leave. Joshua was in school.

He was sitting with the Lord. There's nothing.

Better, no greater. Education than you can have.

Is to sit alone with God with your Bible open?

Your heart tuned and your ears tuned, but when you've trained?

And you've sat with the Lord. And you go into the open.

Seas. The storms.

And the waves will hit. You but you see the ship will

always turn upright. No matter.

What, like a yacht? The keel just brings it straight

back. Because it sits below the water,

this ballast. This keel is known as.

The call of God because it's. Often in the storm, the only

thing that you have, the mast can be shattered all the.

The ropes broken, but if the. Keel is there, you still have

the ship upright. So Moses was doing what?

Tending the flock. What was he doing?

He was working. He was.

There. Near the mountain of Horeb.

The mountain of God or. Sinai.

And he looks and he sees this Bush burning.

But the Bush. I mean, he's seen bushes burning

in the in the. Desert before he's had lightning

strike. But the thing about this.

Bush is as. As it burned the Bush.

Wasn't being consumed. It wasn't just just.

Falling apart, it wasn't providing the energy.

The wood is the energy. For the fire.

The energy was from God. 40. Years of desert.

Silence. Moses is alone.

And finally, it's broken. By a burning.

Bush Moses is now ready. 80 years it's been.

How often have you complained and said to God?

I've been playing, praying for. Weeks for this, for months for

this. You see, he has.

Completely changed. Moses had become a man of God.

You know why? Because he knows he's nothing.

He's surrendered. He's done.

I had that in my life. Had.

To come to a. Place where I was, Absolutely.

Done the Bible. Says in Proverbs chapter 3,

Trust in the Lord with all. Of your heart.

And then it says this. And here's where.

You and I get caught out, Lean not.

Oh, I think lean not unto your own understanding.

Because you don't know what to do.

I don't know what to do. Remember how long we had?

Four children they'd be. Fighting in A room.

Go in there and everyone. Said it was his, it was her, it

was him. So we'd lined the four of them

up. Someone was guilty and.

The other three were going hey, come here.

Boy, how come us? But we didn't know who.

Who? Who was the instigator or?

The one. So we shared it trust.

In the Lord with all. Your.

Heart lean not on your own understanding now in.

All your ways. Acknowledge him.

That means for everything that you plan where we're going to

send our kids to school. Do I take this job?

Do I? What do I?

What do we do? We.

Buy this car do we wait in all your ways acknowledge him and

what and he that's. Let God be God.

In your life, stop. Trying to be God.

I've tried that. It's very hard trying to be God.

And it says and he. Shall direct your ways your

paths. And it says just to finish.

Off. Do not be wise.

In your own eyes. I know what to do.

No you don't. My God does.

It was a normal. Day like any other.

Day for the shepherd Moses. He had no premonition or today

I'm going to. Speak to the Lord you're.

Going to see a burning Bush, something special.

I sense it in my Wheaties as I'm eating it, watching.

The sheep. No special signs that something

was coming. You see, God speaks to ordinary

people on ordinary days. Do you know the rapture is going

to occur on an ordinary day? The rapture, The removal.

Of the the Church called out by God.

Is going to happen on. An ordinary day.

The 80 year old shepherd's attention, however, is.

Caught by. Seeing this ordinary thorn Bush

on fire, Moses. Looked and it says he spoke to

himself. And you do, because you know

what? She can't talk back.

There's no one around him and he says, oh, now turn aside and.

See this great sight? Why does not the Bush burn down?

This Bush just kept. Burning and burning, yet not.

Being consumed, you see. Things in our lives don't just

happen, man. I've learnt that our lives are

not random. You know when you go a different

way to work, you just I'll turn down the street.

Where you go? You know who's guiding you in

that? Regard the Lord.

There's something I don't know when we get to heaven, your

your, your guardian angels going to say thank God you're dead

looking after you, man. You just go all over the place

and I've been running and protecting and stopping this and

I'm so glad you're here. I can put.

My feet up, finally. Our lives are not random.

God is constantly seeking you. Note with me in verse.

Four, it says at that. Same moment Moses turned aside.

It was at that moment because moment Moses turned aside.

That God. Spoke to Moses, if Moses.

Said Benny Bush and just carried on.

Guess what? No discussion.

That's it. No discussion.

Nothing's going to happen from there.

The bushes burn in our lives. Cars crash.

They're written off. Lives are taken and what do so

many people do at such critical. Times in their lives.

It's just a coincidence, you know, it's just a coincidence.

A Bush burning unusually and most people would not trouble

themselves. With it.

Yeah, it's just, I mean, bushes burn all the time.

A voice speaking to you. Moses, Moses.

But you're too busy. To notice.

You're too busy to pay. Attention.

I bother. When God has been placing.

Something in your heart, over and over and over.

God says what is going to take place.

To Moses, you see, here's. The here's the deal, people say.

Wish God would speak to me. Guess what?

He's speaking to you all. The time the problem is we're

not listening. He is speaking to you.

All the time, much more than you.

Think, but if you're not in his word, then you've you're

virtually. Got your hand over his mouth.

And so God wish you'd. Speak to me and that's what you

do, because you're not in His word.

So often. God is trying to get.

Your attention for you to. Find out what this event that

moment. This thing that's just.

Happened in your life at that moment What it might mean for

you? You see, there is a purpose.

In our sorrows, God allows. Pain.

He doesn't 'cause it. He allows pain to come our.

Way he allows storms. To hit us, there's a.

Purpose in our sorrows, sometimes your Son or your.

Daughter goes astray. What do you do?

Do you seek the ways of the world to fix it?

A God? What God's?

Wanting is you to be driven to your knees, to the position

where you become the most powerful for you to.

Pray and intercede. For your son and in your

daughter to be consumed in prayer.

For them at this time. He's using two things.

He's allowing this to happen. But he's also creating.

This and allowing this to happen so that you will see where he

wants your attention, your focus.

There's a purpose in our sorrows.

Moses answered the Lord verse. Four in the Hebrew, literally,

it's. I'm here.

It's me. It's.

Pretty funny, isn't it? Moses is now nobody.

After 40. Years in the desert.

And this is just what God wanted to hear from Moses.

That's what I want to hear. Today this is what God still.

Desires to hear from you when he speaks and.

Isaiah 6 verse 8. Isaiah.

Isaiah 6:8

Tells of the time. That king Uzziah died.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord.

Remember, he had a vision of the throne of God.

Isaiah says I heard the voice of the Lord.

I saw the. Temple of God.

And a voice came from the temple.

That said, who shall I send? Who will go for us?

It's interesting. The voice of the Lord.

That came out from the Throne said.

Who will go for us? Didn't say who will go for me

then I said. Here am I, Isaiah said.

Send me this. For so when the Lord saw that,

he turned aside to. Look, God called to him.

Notice. It was only when Moses turned

got he's got his attention, I'm going to check this out that

that's when God spoke to him. Moses, Moses, he said.

Here I am, he said. Don't draw near, don't come any.

Closer, take your sandals. Off your feet, the place.

Where you stand is holy ground. Moses, Moses.

Moshe, Moshe. This is Semitic culture.

He repeats his name. Why?

Because in Semitic culture. The repetition of calling 1's

name. As God said to.

Moses was this in that. Culture calling someone's name

by repeating their name twice was seen as a way of.

Expressing endearment, affection.

Moses. Moses, holy ground.

Think about this. He's in the desert.

The word holy. Means.

Set apart, Holy, set apart. It means separated and here.

God is saying to Moses. I want you to separate.

Yourself from your past, from your immediate responsibilities,

and give me your full attention. Now listen.

So he's telling him to take his sandals.

Off It's not the Bush. That's holy.

It's the ground. Notice but.

Why the removal of the? Sandals.

I mean, think about it. Dirty old sandals.

These are shepherd's sandals. There's a lot of sheep when

you're on a shepherd. 'S sandal a lot of sweat.

Sand. And if he takes his?

Sandals off, Doesn't he still have dirty?

Feet. Absolutely.

He's in the desert. After all, God wanted.

Moses to see. That he wanted nothing between

Moses and himself. His shoes off and Moses discards

his sandals. His feet would now proclaim good

news of redemption and deliverance.

Paul writes how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the

gospel of grace. Jesus washed feet.

Didn't he you? Going to serve me sandals.

Off. Let me wash.

I'm washing your feet, he said. No, Jesus said, unless I wash

your feet. You ain't part of us.

How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel.

Of peace who bring glad tidings. Of good news, Nothing between

Moses and himself. The priests when they served in

the temple, guess what? No shoes.

No shoes. In and around.

No shoes, Moses. Hit his face as God speaks he's

he's scared. And tells him that he is the

God. Of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

I'm the God of men. Moses, you know your ancestors,

Men who have failed. Moses.

But with me each one accomplished the extraordinary.

Abraham, Isaac. And Jacob, you see God.

In the burning. Bush the Bible.

Tells us in Deuteronomy. 424 and Hebrews 12. 29 That God is what

a consuming fire. And fire in the Bible is often.

Representative of judgement. But this is not judgement.

God is a consuming fire. So what's what's?

Going on here, God is the consuming.

Fire to those who reject. Him and continue on in sin.

But to us. He's not to consume.

Us but to consume. All.

The dross all in US. And about us that is contrary to

His Holiness is to be burned up refined verse 7 and the Lord

said I have seen the oppression of the people.

I've heard they cry. I know.

Their Sorrows, verse 8. I've.

Come down to deliver them out of the hand.

Of the Egyptians. And to bring them up, look at

the language there. Verse 9 now.

Therefore, behold the cry of the.

Egyptian of the Children of. Israel has come to me.

And also. Have also seen their oppression.

He says I want to send you to Pharaoh.

I want them out of Egypt. I want them.

Out of slavery, you're. Going to be the one I'm going to

send. This is an amazing.

Verse as I was. Preparing this I.

Stopped as I got to this verse because it's loaded.

And it struck me. Because this verse not only.

Speaks directly and contextually, first and

specifically to the. Deliverance of the Children of.

Israel to be set free. From.

Slavery in Egypt, but here you and I are here.

All. Scripture is given by

inspiration of God. You and I are also in this

verse. How's that?

Because here it speaks to each of us.

What? Christ, our Deliverer has done.

For every one of us. We see.

Here the absolute, free, unconditional grace of the God

of Abraham, who alone. Carried out the work of.

Israel's and our salvation. How firstly, he did.

This to fulfil his promises. To Abraham.

Genesis, 1513. Back then God said to Abraham

before his name was. Even chained to Abraham?

No, certainly this is what's going to happen.

I guarantee, Abraham, that your descendants will be strangers in

a land. That is not theirs will.

Serve them, they'll afflict them for 400 years.

He tells them all this before Abraham's even had a child, and

also the nation whom they serve. I'll judge.

I'll judge the. Egyptians afterward, when all my

people come. Out they shall.

Come out with great possessions, they're going to leave loaded,

they're going to get 400. Years of salary opened.

The God of Israel did not come down verse 8 to see if.

The subjects of his. Promise Abraham's seed.

Were in. Such a condition to merit.

His salvation? No.

These were God's chosen people. Here's the news and the.

Church, A lot of churches. Are doing a lot of damage at the

moment they. Still are God's chosen people.

They'll always be God's chosen people.

Romans chapter 910 and. 11 read them.

God's promise, His covenant promise to Abraham didn't stop.

God say, Oh yeah, no. They're no longer my covenant

people. As people coming up with.

All this stuff on the Internet and places around that, you

know, no. No, there there's this.

Replacement the churches replaces.

No, we have not. And there's a lot of.

Christians now go yeah, poo poo and.

They're not the Israelis. Of the of the Bible.

Well, who are they? Then don't fall for that God's

covenant with Israel, thou be his chosen people, and once the.

the Lord. Did not set his love.

any other people. For you were the least.

Of all peoples, but because the Lord loves you.

And because he would keep the oath.

Which he swore to your. Father's the covenant.

And he's still going to keep it. The Lord has brought you.

Out with a mighty hand redeem you from the House of.

Bondage from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.

God's love for you as it is for Israel.

Is not because we were something special, Paul says.

We're the base. We're the low.

Ones aren't we? God didn't.

Choose. Israel because they are

fantastic. He chose Israel.

Simply, and He chose you. Simply and here's.

Where we cannot understand it. Because he loves you.

I can't comprehend we want a reason.

Well, there's got to be. No, God chose you.

Because he loves you. That's what we don't we.

It's funny how we don't accept love.

We've got. Well, there's a reason.

What's going on here? God loves you not because you

have something awesome to offer Him.

Quite the opposite, in fact. He loves us.

Just because he loves us his. Love for you and I, and for

Israel. Is not based.

On how good I'm doing. Or he's a good little boy.

Or how much you're doing. Or how?

Poorly. I'm very poor kid.

Let's help this kid out. Or how much we have to.

Offer him man. Get this.

I. Hear People's.

They'd make a great. Christian, this person, people

often. Say to me they would be a good.

Christian because. They can do this, this and that.

They'd be great for church. No, God's not.

Looking for the celebrities the world is.

God's looking for someone who says I'm I'm not very good, I

can't do much perfect because in you.

I'll get all the glory. And it's going to be miraculous,

Paul knew. All that he had to.

Offer him religion training. Pharisee of the Pharisees of the

tribe. Of Benjamin and he said, But you

know what? I have to offer God rubbish,

filthy rags, God loves us and here's.

The other thing that you can't comprehend, it's unconditional.

It's not conditional, it's unconditional.

God's love for you is unconditional once you grasp

this. Grace.

What is grace? Unmerited favour getting what

you don't. Deserve.

You will go through the day, your day expecting the.

Lord to bless you to. Shower you with His grace, not

because of who we are, what we've done, but simply and

solely. Because of who he is.

And that's why we worship Him. Because we don't deserve

anything. Paul tells us in Romans chapter.

5 verse six you see? At just the right.

Time when we were still. Powerless Christ died.

For the ungodly, our deliverer. Very rarely will anyone die for

a righteous. Person though for a good.

Person. Someone might possibly dare to

die, but God demonstrates His own love for us.

For you in this. While we were still sinners,

Christ died. For.

Us back to our text. Verse 8 God says.

To Moses. So I have come down.

To deliver. Them out of the hand of the

Egyptians, and to bring them up. From the land to a.

Good and large. Land, A land flowing with milk

and honey. Who came down for us?

Who came down for you? We celebrate.

It each year, don't we? Birth of a child of.

Bethlehem. Why did he come?

Philippians chapter 2 who? Being in the very nature.
