  1. This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Lewis

  2. Harold, assistant pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland

  3. County in Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Lewis as he

  4. continues teaching through God's Word.

  5. OK, I don't know why they try to make it seem like, you know, at

  6. the end times there's going to be this big fight between God

  7. and Satan. You know, Satan hits, God hits

  8. him. Satan hits him.

  9. God hit. No, no, he's going to speak a

  10. word and Satan's done. You need to understand the power

  11. of God. His equal was not God.

  12. Satan's equal would be Michael the Archangel.

  13. And if God gives Michael the Archangel the authority and

  14. their command to go and destroy Satan, Satan's gone.

  15. Have you ever watched one of those intense wrestling matches

  16. on social media where two fighters give it their all?

  17. Many people mistakenly believe that God's confrontation with

  18. Satan will resemble such a match too close to call.

  19. However, that couldn't be further from the truth.

  20. Today, Pastor Lewis wants you to understand that the God of the

  21. Bible, the Creator of the universe, has no rival.

  22. There is no one who can even come close to him, not even

  23. Satan. And that day when God erases all

  24. evil is coming sooner than you think.

  25. Now here's Pastor Lewis in the Book of Jude, chapter one with

  26. today's edition of Living Waters of Grace.

  27. Oftentimes that's what makes them the Antichrist because they

  28. want to be in authority instead of Christ.

  29. So it makes them an Antichrist. And then of course, the third

  30. thing that they mentioned is the fact that they speak evil of

  31. dignitaries. That's speaking evil with angels

  32. or the glorious ones speaking evil of them.

  33. And it go a little further. We can go down a little further.

  34. And once we get to verse 9, he's going to give an example of what

  35. he means by that. But you know, angels really

  36. played a a very prominent role with the Lord, even though we

  37. know angels are lower than Jesus Christ.

  38. But yet it was angels, It was angels who was here during the

  39. time that the Lord had it even brought in the law.

  40. I'm going to go back to Deuteronomy.

  41. Go Old Testament here for a second and I'm going to try to

  42. show this to you how important it is to God about how important

  43. angels were in the prominent place that they had with Him

  44. because they were there for a number of very important events.

  45. And over here in Deuteronomy chapter 33, it's going to read

    Deuteronomy 33 chapter mention

  46. this small verse here 33 and verse 2.

  47. I'm going to read 1 and 2. It says now this is a blessing

  48. with which Moses the man of God, blessed the children of Israel

  49. before his death. And he said the Lord came from

  50. Sinai and dawned on them from Sire and he shone forth from

  51. Mount Paran and he came with 10 thousands of Saints, in other

  52. words, 10,000 of angels from his right hand came, came a fiery

  53. law for them. And then verse 3 say yes, he

  54. loves the people and all his Saints are in his hand.

  55. They sit down at your feet. Everyone receives your words.

  56. So angels were there during the time that when he came down and

  57. he appeared and even over here and this is and this is one that

  58. I I thought was very interesting as well over here in Acts.

  59. Let's go to the book of Acts real quick concerning the angels

  60. in the book of Acts Chapter 7, and most of you probably already

    Acts 7 chapter mention

  61. know that we're talking about Stephen.

  62. So now we're looking at what happened when Stephen was being

  63. persecuted. And Chapter 7, verse 53, and I'm

  64. going to start at verse 52, he says, which of the angels did

  65. your father's not persecute? He's talking to the Pharisees

  66. and those religious elites who wanted to kill him and they and

  67. they killed those who foretold the coming of the just one of

  68. whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers.

  69. And verse 53 is the one I want you to pay attention to.

  70. He says who have received the law.

  71. How did they receive the law? By the direction of angels and

  72. have not kept it. Direction of angels and have not

  73. kept it. And then just one more Galatians

  74. in the book of Galatians. Just trying to draw a picture

  75. here of the significance of these angels and why he's

  76. talking about how they basically speak evil of dignitaries of

  77. these angels. Galatians chapter 3 and look at

    Galatians 3 chapter mention

  78. with me at verse 14. I'm going to start at verse 2.

  79. It says this only. I want to learn from you.

  80. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by the

  81. hearing of faith? Are you so foolish, having begun

  82. in the Spirit that you are now being when I'm now being made

  83. perfect in the flesh? And then I want you to go over

  84. to verse chapter 4 and in chapter 4 go to chapter 3, verse

  85. 19. There we go.

  86. OK, chapter 3, verse 19. This is what it says.

  87. What purpose then does the law serve?

  88. It was added because of transgressions till the seed

  89. should come. To whom the promise was made to.

  90. The seed obviously was Jesus Christ, and it was appointed

  91. through angels by the hand of a mediator.

  92. Now a meteor does not mediate for only one, but God is 1.

  93. So he talks about the importance of angels and how important it

  94. was at the time of the law and the presenting of the law, how

  95. the angels even came with him. Over in Exodus talks about how

  96. the angels, the Lord came with him at the time when he came to

  97. to Mount Sier, which is where he came to present the law.

  98. So when you talk about all these things and all these things, how

  99. they combine and these men who did not have a problem was

  100. speaking evil of these dignitaries.

  101. And so he gave an example. He said in the women, you being

  102. mere men don't have a problem speaking evil of dignitaries.

  103. Yet Michael the Archangel who is more powerful than most men, he

  104. wouldn't even speak evil to an Angel.

  105. So look at what he says in verse 9, back in Jude verse 9, he

  106. says, yet Michael the Archangel and contending with the devil,

  107. what he disputed about the body of Moses dared not bring against

  108. him a reviling accusation, but said the Lord rebuke you.

  109. So he's making a point here. And what he's saying is that

  110. these dreamers, these false teachers, they don't mind

  111. speaking evil about angels or dignitaries or these spiritual

  112. authority, spiritual authorities, they don't mind

  113. speaking evil of them and they don't know anything about them,

  114. but yet they speak evil of them. But yet Michael the Archangel

  115. who was constantly before the throne of God, who was basically

  116. the battle Angel. I mean, he would come to me back

  117. in the book of Dan and talked about Michael the Archangel

  118. doing battle with the devil when he wanted to come to Daniel,

  119. when Daniel had requested a word and he was coming, but he was

  120. being delayed because he was in battle.

  121. What a devil, what a demon. So Michael the Archangel was not

  122. a wimp. He was powerful Angel and had a

  123. lot of authority. But yet he would not bring a

  124. railing accusation against Satan.

  125. He said the Lord rebuked you. And it was an example of his

  126. understanding of authority to understand that even though he

  127. may be as powerful as Satan to see, Satan's equal is not God.

  128. Michael the Archangel will be Satan's equal God is not Satan's

  129. equal God. Speak with a word and Satan's

  130. gone. OK?

  131. I don't know why they try to make it seem like, you know, at

  132. the end times, there's going to be this big fight between God

  133. and Satan. You know, Satan hits, God hits

  134. him. Satan hits him.

  135. God hit. No, no, he's going to speak a

  136. word and Satan's done. You need to understand the power

  137. of God. His equal was not God.

  138. Satan's equal would be Michael the Archangel.

  139. And if God gives Michael the Archangel the authority and

  140. their command to go and destroy Satan, Satan's gone.

  141. Satan's gone. So we need to understand that.

  142. So, but Michael would not do that on his own.

  143. That's the whole point. He would not come against Satan

  144. on his own and just say, well, I curse you and, and I'm I'm going

  145. to cast you out. He don't do that on his own.

  146. He submits to the will of God, to the will of the Father

  147. because he understands order, he understands authority.

  148. And that's the point that Jude is making here.

  149. That's really an impressive point.

  150. It's an important point because you hear these false teachers,

  151. they always want to talk about they casting out the devil.

  152. They're casting them out. They're sending him out of here.

  153. They're doing this. No, no.

  154. Anybody remember the story about the sons of Skiva, seven sons of

  155. Skiva over in the book of Acts when they thought that they had

  156. the power to just go and cast Satan out on their own, that

  157. devil jumped on them. He jumped on them and they end

  158. up running out naked and whooped.

  159. He said, look, we know, we know Jesus and we even know Paul, but

  160. we don't know nothing about you. And they jumped on him.

  161. So, you know, so he, he's making the point here that we just

  162. like, just like Michael the Archangel, we have to submit to

  163. the authority of God. And it's God who cast him out.

  164. It's it's God who rebukes Satan. It's God who does that.

  165. So then in the verse 9. Now, now where the story comes

  166. from, I don't know this whole story about how when they were

  167. arguing over the body of Moses, it's a book and it's not a

  168. scriptural book. It's called the apocryphal.

  169. It's an apocryphal book. And the name of the book is

  170. actually called Assumption of Moses.

  171. I've never read it. Not saying that it's scripture

  172. because it's not, but this was the example that he used that

  173. apparently there was some story in this book about Michael

  174. battling with the with Satan over the body of Moses.

  175. Now, I don't know why they were battling over the body of Moses.

  176. He may have wanted to Satan might have wanted to get the

  177. body of Moses to desecrate it, or he might have wanted to get

  178. it to try to make an idol out of it and have people worshipping

  179. it. That which would be obviously in

  180. contrast with what God wants. God doesn't want him to be

  181. worshipped. God is to be worshipped.

  182. You know, as we say often times, you know, it's not great men

  183. that do great things through God is God who does great things

  184. through mere men. So we don't know why he wanted

  185. the body of Moses and you know, but he used that example as a

  186. way to try to illustrate that even the Michael the Archangel

  187. who was powerful, a holy Angel, would not even bring a railing

  188. accusation against Satan, but he submitted to the authority of

  189. God and says God rebuke you. So we go on down to verse 10 and

  190. he says, would these speak evil of whatever they do not know?

  191. They speak evil about things that they don't even know.

  192. They don't know anything about these spiritual things that they

  193. speak of. So they speak evil of it, and

  194. whatever they know. Naturally, like Butte beasts, in

  195. these things they corrupt themselves.

  196. Woe to them, for they have gone in the way of Cain, have run

  197. greedily in the air of Balaam for profit, and perished in the

  198. rebellion of Korra. A few things here.

  199. First of all, let's back up and talk about what he means by they

  200. speak evil or whatever they do not know.

  201. These are men who don't have the spirit.

  202. So because these are men who don't have the spirit, they

  203. don't understand spiritual things, they don't understand

  204. spiritual things. It doesn't make sense to them.

  205. Their spirit is not alive to receive spiritual things.

  206. Which is why two people can come into church and sit down and one

  207. person, the spirit, will reveal truth to that person.

  208. The next person sitting right beside them heard the exact same

  209. thing. They don't get it at all because

  210. one is dealing with it from the natural and the other one is

  211. dealing with it from the spiritual talks a lot about that

  212. in Scripture. You know, we can be blind to the

  213. things of the truth and have no understanding of those things if

  214. we don't have the spirit. I mean, think about yourselves

  215. when we when you know, when you tried to read the word of God

  216. before you had the Holy Spirit, you couldn't understand what you

  217. were reading. You couldn't couldn't even keep

  218. your interest. You probably put it down.

  219. But once you receive the Spirit and the Spirit opens your eyes

  220. and you pray, when you open that Bible woman, I'm not saying

  221. anything happens right away. It takes time.

  222. You know you got to diligently seek Him.

  223. And when you diligently seek Him, he rewards that by

  224. revealing more and more truth to you.

  225. The more you're seeking, the more you get into His word, the

  226. more you come before him, the more you ask Him to reveal the

  227. truth to you. But in your natural, there's no

  228. way you can do it. We none of us could.

  229. We couldn't understand the word of God, couldn't understand it.

  230. I like what it says over in second.

  231. Over in first Corinthians chapter 2 and verse 14, it says

    1 Corinthians 2 chapter mention

  232. this. It says the natural man does not

  233. receive the things of the Spirit of God for their foolishness to

  234. him, nor can he know them because they are spiritually

  235. deserved. So nor can so he can't even

  236. receive them, which means he can't even hear it coming into

  237. his heart. He can't even hear it, you know,

  238. comes into him and, and just basically bounce out.

  239. It's like the it's like the seed that was just tossed and it went

  240. wayward. You know, the seed that was just

  241. tossing and went by the side just didn't even get it.

  242. Just didn't even get it because they can't receive it and nor

  243. can they know it because it's foolishness to them.

  244. The Word of God, the gospel is foolishness to people who are

  245. not saved, just like it was to us.

  246. How many times do people try to share the word of God with you

  247. before the Spirit opened your eyes and you said, man, what are

  248. you talking about? What are you saying?

  249. Where's the next party? I don't want to hear what you

  250. talking about. I mean, it's being real.

  251. That's the way it was because we couldn't receive it.

  252. I was home one Saturday morning recently and I heard the

  253. knocking on the door, kind of had an idea who it was.

  254. So that's why you didn't rush down to answer, right?

  255. So we come down, we answer the door.

  256. I think my wife actually answered the door 1st and then I

  257. was upstairs. I was trying to hide and and she

  258. eventually answered the door and started talking with them.

  259. And she said, wait a minute, let me ask my husband.

  260. Oh man. So so I came downstairs and

  261. this, you know, woman was there at the door.

  262. There was two other people on the sidewalk looking, watching.

  263. So we knew exactly what this was about.

  264. Total witnesses. So this woman is trying to share

  265. her Watchtower information with me and share her scriptures and

  266. try to make me convince me, you know, that Jesus was not God in

  267. the flesh, right? Yeah.

  268. She's just, you know, I believe in Jesus, too, just like you do.

  269. I said, oh, do you? Yeah, I believe that Jesus, you

  270. know, is the Son of God. Do you?

  271. Yeah, I believe Jesus is the Son of God.

  272. Yeah, well, I believe that Jesus is God in the flesh.

  273. Oh, no, no. So she begins to explain to me

  274. why Jesus is not God in the flesh.

  275. And because she said it's just not logical.

  276. There's a number of things that she mentioned.

  277. It's just not logical. And that's one of the things

  278. I've noticed that they will say when you start talking about the

  279. things of God, you know, these things are not logical.

  280. For example, they think the Trinity is not logical.

  281. So they don't, you know, talk about the Trinity or come, what

  282. are you talking about? You know, God in three persons.

  283. What are you talking about? It's not logical, doesn't even

  284. make sense. So I listened to her talk about

  285. that. And then she, you know, we, you

  286. know, we even talked about the the incarnation.

  287. Of course, you know, she totally got rid of that.

  288. No, Jesus, you know, he, no, no, he's not he, he's the son of

  289. God. He was created being, you know,

  290. but he's not God in the flesh. Talk a little bit about that.

  291. And and then she went to the resurrection, talked a little

  292. bit about about that. Well, he resurrected, but Aiden

  293. resurrect in fully, you know, body he'd resurrect.

  294. He was just a spirit. Well, we just got finished

  295. reading last week, right, that when he resurrected, he

  296. resurrected in the in the body, right?

  297. Because Mary Magdalene grabbed his feet, right?

  298. You can't grab the feet of a spirit, right?

  299. So anyway I made this one statement to her and this woman

  300. turned into an angry demon and all I said to her well would you

  301. know these things are only discerned in the spirit Only the

  302. Spirit can recognize these things.

  303. Are you saying I don't have the Spirit of God in me?

  304. Yes, yes and she went on a rant that I never thought a woman and

  305. now I was I'm about 6-1 Well I was probably 6-1 then this woman

  306. you know probably came to about here.

  307. But I mean, she just rant and raved and looked up and just, I

  308. mean, I she wow, she was angry. She was really, really angry.

  309. We never had another person come back after that.

  310. Never had another person. Have we had anybody come back

  311. after that? Yeah, we never had another

  312. person come back after that. So she obviously went and told

  313. her homies just bypassed that house, OK, because they hang

  314. with it. But yeah, I couldn't believe how

  315. angry she got. But it's the Spirit of God that

  316. discerns these things. That's why Paul prayed to the

  317. Colossians. When he prayed for the

  318. Colossians Church, he prayed that they would be filled with

  319. the knowledge of his will and all wisdom and spiritual

  320. understanding, spiritual understanding, because that's

  321. how these things are understood. But these false teachers don't

  322. have that. They don't have the Spirit, so

  323. they can't talk about the Scriptures or the things of God

  324. from a spiritual standpoint. They can only look at it through

  325. the natural. They can only look at it through

  326. the natural and that's why they get into so many problems,

  327. because they can't see it through the Spirit.

  328. First Corinthians chapter 2 and 11 says for what man knows the

    1 Corinthians 2 chapter mention

  329. things of man except the spirit of man, which is in him.

  330. Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

  331. Now we have received not the spirit from the world.

  332. If you have the spirit of the world, you understand the things

  333. of the world. People who are in the world,

  334. they can have a conversation with each other and say things

  335. that to us now those things may sound absurd to us or just like

  336. things. There's no way we're doing that.

  337. You know, there's no way I'm, I'm going to be in agreement

  338. with this, but you can see in the times how people are fine

  339. with some of the way that society is changing.

  340. The people of the world are fine with it.

  341. They're totally fine with it. But us, we're grieved by it.

  342. And it's because the world takes on its own.

  343. The world loves its own. The world deals with its own.

  344. They understand those things because they have the spirit of

  345. the world. But we have received not the

  346. spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we

  347. might know the things that have been freely given to us of God.

  348. We get those things freely through the Spirit of God, but

  349. they, they have no understanding of, but yet they speak

  350. negatively about the Spirit when you know someone that could be

  351. even someone who goes to church all the time.

  352. And because you may be, you know, walking in obedience,

  353. because the Holy Spirit, you're developing this relationship

  354. with the Lord and you're walking in the Spirit and you're

  355. walking, you're trying to, you're walking in obedience to

  356. the Lord as much as you possibly can.

  357. And you know, because and we, we're all still sin and we're

  358. honest about that with each other, but yet you get someone

  359. who's not into walking in obedience and they begin to

  360. start speaking evil of you. Oh, you think she's too good for

  361. us? He thinks he can't do this

  362. anymore. He can't do that anymore.

  363. You know, they start speaking evil of you.

  364. And that's exactly what happened.

  365. When they start speaking evil of the teachers who were teaching

  366. the truth. They're speaking evil.

  367. Those teachers demeaning them to other people.

  368. So then we go on down here to verse 11, like he said, he says,

  369. whoa. He said they're like, you know,

  370. before he said they're like group beasts and they corrupt,

  371. you know, they corrupt themselves with the things that

  372. they do know. And then in verse 11, he says

  373. woe to them for they have gone the way of Cain and in the era

  374. of Balaam for prophet and in rebellion of Korah.

  375. Well, first of all, they're brute beast.

  376. And that means that they're only living in a way that satisfies

  377. the flesh, their primal instincts, brute beasts.

  378. You're living like a brute beast and that means you're just

  379. living to satisfy your urges. That's why animals are able when

  380. he says, you know, they corrupt themselves and in, in those

  381. things that they that they do know, because the only thing

  382. they do know is their urges, their lusts, their desire for

  383. natural things. And that's why animals can get

  384. trapped. We have some people here who are

  385. hunters. They trap animals or they lure

  386. animals. How do they trap them?

  387. They lure them. How do they lure them?

  388. They lure them by things that they're driven to eat, things

  389. that they're driven to do. If you got an animal who loves

  390. meat, you put a piece of meat in a box.

  391. He's coming for it. This has been Living Waters of

  392. Grace, a ministry of Calvary Chapel Westmoreland in

  393. Greensburg, PA Pastor Lewis Harrell has been teaching

  394. through the book of Jude. This is a book of warning as the

  395. audience that Jude was writing to was coming under attack from

  396. false teachers. Even in the early days of the

  397. church, there were teachers who claimed to have a unique
