  1. This is living. Waters of Grace, the teaching

  2. ministry of Lewis Harold, assistant pastor of Calvary

  3. Chapel of Westmoreland County in Greensburg, PA.

  4. Now here's Pastor Lewis as he continues teaching through God's

  5. Word. We're not exempt in any way.

  6. Sometimes we can be spots in a love piece.

  7. Sometimes we can cause people to stumble with our behavior.

  8. Sometimes we can be like clouds without water.

  9. Sometimes we can not have fruit or not show fruit in our lives.

  10. But again, God is warning us and saying in the later times these

  11. things are going to be so. Have you ever attended a church

  12. service and felt as though the pastor's message was speaking

  13. directly to you? That is the conviction of the

  14. Holy Spirit at work in your life, guiding you to hear what

  15. you were meant to embrace. Today, Pastor Lewis wants to

  16. remind you that even with the teachings of the Bible are

  17. challenging to digest, it is God's way of inviting you to

  18. reflect on your own life and realign yourself with him.

  19. So take the time to listen, examine your heart, and trust

  20. that God is always there ready to guide you back to Him.

  21. Now here's Pastor Lewis in the book of Jude chapter 1 as he

    Jude 1 chapter mention

  22. continues his message apostates describe.

  23. They have motives that are ungodly.

  24. They're looking at the opposite sex in ways that they should not

  25. because it's not their wives. They're looking at ways to take

  26. advantage, to be able to get more for themselves.

  27. And so when he says here that they're only serving, they do it

  28. without fear. They do it without reverence of

  29. God. They come among us without

  30. reverence of God, without respecting who God is, without

  31. having to all of God, not even fearful of the consequences of

  32. their of their behavior, of their hearts and conditions of

  33. their hearts. And they're serving only

  34. themselves. The Bible says that a pastor is

  35. supposed to feed the flock, but they serve themselves.

  36. They're not really looking to give you the truth of God's

  37. Word. They're looking to give you what

  38. will deceive you into giving more to them, get you to follow

  39. a doctrine that is Antichrist, to lead you away from the truth,

  40. to lead us away from the truth. And then I'm going to go to the

  41. next one. It says that they are clouds

  42. without water, carried about by the winds, The clouds without

  43. water, meaning that they are they, you know, they give the

  44. threat of rain. We don't have these kind of

  45. clouds until lately. We've been getting a lot of

  46. water here. Greensburg.

  47. But he's saying here that there are clouds without water.

  48. So it's like they, it's like a farmer, a farmer.

  49. One of the worst things for them is like when they're desperate

  50. for rain for their crops, one of the worst thing for them is look

  51. up in the sky and see a cloud that looks like it could bring

  52. rain, looks like it could promise rain, but then it blows

  53. away and nothing ever happens. They don't have their crops

  54. watered. It's the worst thing that can

  55. happen. It's the worst thing that can

  56. happen for a church to have someone teaching or preaching

  57. that gives the promise that they're going to give an A

  58. nourishing word, a word that's going to refresh, a word that's

  59. going to really speak to our spirit.

  60. And then it doesn't. It speaks to the flesh instead.

  61. We don't leave refreshed. We leave even more heavy because

  62. he just talked about all the things that he has that we don't

  63. talk about how to get things that we can attain all things of

  64. the flesh, not really speaking to our spirit.

  65. We need the water. We need the water to refresh us.

  66. You know, Jesus told Jesus told the the woman at the the well.

  67. He told her, he said, you know, if you knew the kind of person

  68. that was here, you knew who was here in front of you, you would

  69. be asking me for water because I would give you water that leads

  70. to everlasting life. But if you have someone that

  71. doesn't bring, that doesn't have substance in what it is that

  72. they're teaching because it's not coming from the word of God,

  73. then we're thirsty. We're left thirsty.

  74. We're left leaving wanting to be refreshed and not.

  75. And Jude is saying be careful of men who act like they're going

  76. to bring refreshing, A refreshing word and don't be

  77. careful of that. And then he goes on here and he

  78. and he talks about the autumn trees.

  79. He says they're like late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead,

  80. pulled up by the roots, laid autumn trees.

  81. And just as false teachers or clouds that fail to produce

  82. water, likewise they also fail to produce fruit in their own

  83. lives. They can't give us the word of

  84. God that will cause us to produce fruit.

  85. And we're supposed to be trees that produce fruit as

  86. Christians, as believers in Isaiah 61 and three, he said

  87. that we are trees of righteousness, the planting of

  88. the Lord, that he might be glorified.

  89. God is glorified by the fruit of our lives.

  90. And if I'm, if we are a, a, a Christian or believer that

  91. doesn't have fruit, then God is not glorified.

  92. And John 15, Jesus also spoke when he talked about himself

  93. being a true vine. He says if you abide in me and I

  94. in you, you will have much fruit, much fruit.

  95. But without me you can do nothing.

  96. And that's true. Without Him we can do nothing,

  97. and without His word we can do nothing.

  98. We can do nothing. We need the word of God.

  99. We need it. Men do not live by bread alone,

  100. but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

  101. That is the true manner that comes from heaven that nurtures

  102. us and feeds us. And he is the water he brings us

  103. the water that comes from heaven.

  104. And and, and Isaiah, he said, you know, just as the water

  105. comes down from the heavens and it doesn't return back there,

  106. but that it nourishes the ground where it it, it, it waters the

  107. ground and it brings forth the bud and that bud becomes seed

  108. and bread it produces. He said, so as my word, that

  109. comes forth out of my life, my word.

  110. So that is what brings the refreshing.

  111. That's what brings the fruit. That's what brings production is

  112. his word, his word, not mine. I could stand up here all day

  113. long and give you a bunch of stories that sounds interesting,

  114. but then you leave and somebody said, OK, but what did he

  115. preach? I don't know, but man, was he

  116. something. He was funny.

  117. OK, good. But what did he think?

  118. I don't know. That doesn't do us any good.

  119. That's not why we gather. We gather to hear the word of

  120. God. We gather to be refreshed by the

  121. word of God. We gather to be transformed by

  122. the word of God. We don't gather for stories.

  123. And then he said they were trees without fruit.

  124. Twice dead, twice dead. That means not only are they

  125. dead spiritually, but they're also going to be dead

  126. physically. They're twice dead and there's

  127. no connection, he said. It's pulled up by the roots.

  128. That means that these trees can never be connected.

  129. They're not connected to anything to ever have life.

  130. They're not connected to the vine, and because they're not

  131. connected to the vine, they die. Then he says they're raging

  132. waves of the sea, raging waves of the sea.

  133. It's a beautiful thing to be before the ocean.

  134. I think Clark right now is down there at the ocean.

  135. And I know that he loves looking out at the sea and, and we lied,

  136. you know, we, we love being at the ocean and looking at the

  137. water. I love looking at, at water

  138. anywhere. I like anybody of water, to be

  139. honest with you looking at it. I'm not so crazy about getting

  140. in it, but I do like to look at bodies of water.

  141. But the ocean is a very, it's a majestic thing to look at, you

  142. know, with the waves and the, and, and the way that it comes

  143. right up to the shore and it's a very majestic thing to look.

  144. It's very powerful thing to look at.

  145. But when you see a, but when you see the, the, the ocean, when

  146. you see the ocean when it's in a storm could be a very scary

  147. thing. The waves are obviously a lot

  148. higher, does a lot more damage. It's more dangerous, you know,

  149. for those who are out in boats in it.

  150. Obviously it is. But the thing that Jude is

  151. talking about here is when he said if foaming up, he says

  152. foaming up their own shame. When you walk on the beach after

  153. a storm, if you've ever walked on the beach after the storm,

  154. what you see is not pretty because the ocean brings up in

  155. that storm. It brings up all that dirt, all

  156. that, all the garbage that was in the ocean, it now washes up

  157. on the shore and it's so dirty. In fact, you can't even go in

  158. the water. They tell you don't even go in

  159. the water for a while after a storm because it's so dirty.

  160. It's, it's, it's a bunch of mire and, and, and, and filth.

  161. And a lot of that comes up on the shore.

  162. Well, this is what Jude is saying about false teachers.

  163. They said they rant and they wave and they and they give all

  164. this, all this, you know, this message.

  165. And it's just like ways because it, it looks good.

  166. It sounds good, but the only thing they're doing is bringing

  167. up their own shame. They're talking about their own

  168. life and their flesh and, and the things that they're

  169. interested in. And none of those things are

  170. spiritual. It's just bringing up their own

  171. shame. In fact, another quote that I

  172. found that I really, really enjoyed and this comes from

  173. Warren Wheresby, he says the true teachers of the word bring

  174. up treasures from the deep. False teachers only produce

  175. refuse. That means waste, garbage, trash

  176. and boast about what they should be ashamed of.

  177. Do you remember time in your life when you boast about things

  178. that we pop that would now we are ashamed of them?

  179. I can remember that talking about things and boasting about

  180. things that I should have been ashamed of.

  181. If you think back in your life, maybe some of you can relate

  182. boasting about those things. Or sometimes false teachers do

  183. the exact same thing. They boast about things that

  184. they should be ashamed of, foaming up their own shame.

  185. Isaiah 57 and 20 says, But the wicked are like the troubled sea

  186. when it it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt,

  187. the false teachers, they're like raging waves of the sea.

  188. And then he says here they're like wandering stars, for whom

  189. is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

  190. Wandering stars for who is reserved the blackness of

  191. darkness forever. 1 is to fix stars is a shipments or a

  192. mariner. You know, it's their dream to

  193. see the stars. They can navigate by the stars

  194. because they're fixed. They're there.

  195. They give you direction, they give you guidance.

  196. But wandering stars like shooting stars and different

  197. things that you see in the heavens that shoot and they,

  198. they fizz up and then they fizzle out.

  199. You don't see them anymore. They call falling stars or

  200. whatever. You, you know, they, they, they

  201. call them when you see them and then they fizzle out.

  202. They're saying that's the same thing as a false teacher.

  203. They come in with a lot of romp and rave and noise, but

  204. eventually they fizzle out and then they go somewhere else.

  205. They go somewhere else, they wander.

  206. They just leave, go to another group of people that haven't

  207. heard them yet. I know this message sometimes

  208. can come across as wow, this is a real condemning message, but

  209. it's the word of God. He's warning us and there's

  210. things in the Bible sometimes going to be really hard to hear,

  211. but what we should do is be looking at ourselves.

  212. Is any of these things in me? We're not exempt in any way.

  213. Sometimes we can be spots in a love feast.

  214. Sometimes we can cause people to stumble with our behavior.

  215. Sometimes we can be like clouds without water.

  216. Sometimes we can not have fruit or not show fruit in our lives,

  217. but again God is warning us and saying in the later times these

  218. things are going to be so. And so we look at verse 14 as we

  219. get ready to come to a close. Here in verse 14 through 15 he

  220. says this. Now Enoch the 7th from Adam

  221. prophesied about these men also, saying, Behold, the Lord comes

  222. with 10 thousands of his Saints to execute judgment on all who

  223. on all, to convict all who ungodly, who are ungodly among

  224. them, of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an

  225. ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly

  226. sinners have spoken against him. And verse 15, the word ungodly

  227. is mentioned 4 * 4 times. But the important thing is the

  228. fact that this book, this particular Scripture, talks

  229. about the coming judgement of those who are ungodly.

  230. Now, first of all, we got to deal with this whole Enoch thing

  231. because Enoch is only mentioned in the Bible back in Genesis,

    Genesis 5 chapter mention

  232. chapter 5. OK, That's where he's mentioned.

  233. And he's mentioned this interesting story.

  234. Enoch is from the line of Seth, You know, when men begin to call

  235. on the Lord. That line, Enoch was a righteous

  236. man, a very righteous man. In fact, in the Bible, in

  237. Genesis 5, it talks about Enoch walking with God.

  238. And then he was no more. Enoch didn't see death.

  239. He didn't go through the doorway of death the way many have.

  240. Enoch was just taken and it's such a picture of the church, of

  241. the rapture, of the church. One day when we too will be

  242. taken, be taken out of here. I think about Isaiah 57 that

  243. says that the righteous man perish and no one takes it to

  244. heart that the righteous man are taken away from the evil to

  245. come. Enoch was actually taken away

  246. before the great flood. He didn't have to worry about

  247. saying that. And the church one day will be

  248. raptured. And that's a picture of, I

  249. believe that's a foreshadow of the rapture of the church.

  250. But it but Enoch is it. It was a apocryphal book, which

  251. means that it was written outside of the Canon of

  252. Scripture. It's not a part of the

  253. Scripture, the book that he has written or a book that is said

  254. that he has written because often times that these are

  255. prophetical books. The author of these books are

  256. not necessarily authenticated. So we don't really know whether

  257. Enoch was the one that actually wrote this book or not, but it

  258. does have. But there was a book that had

  259. prophecies called the Apocryphal book of Enoch and it did have

  260. this particular quote in it. There's this non biblical

  261. prophetic source, but that's not different.

  262. Paul himself also quoted non biblical poets and writers and

  263. his scriptures. He quoted it.

  264. In fact, one of the scriptures that we probably know very well

  265. was actually a quote from someone who was non biblical,

  266. and that's in Titus. I'm sorry that in First

    1 Corinthians 15 chapter mention

  267. Corinthians chapter 15, Paul quotes a a poet by the name of

  268. Menander and this was the quote. You guys will recognize it.

  269. Evil company corrupts good habits.

  270. That was actually taken from a a, a a Greek writer, a Greek

  271. poet, even in the Acts 17 that when he was at Mars Hill, when

  272. he was beginning to talk with the minute Mars Hill about

  273. Christ, he he, he gave a quote where he says we are the

  274. offspring of God. He said even one of your own

  275. poets said that we are the offspring of God.

  276. That was a Athenian prophet or Athenian poet who said that.

  277. So there's been other times in the New Testament or other times

  278. in the Bible where non biblical sources were quoted.

  279. However, God has purpose in putting these things in

  280. Scripture. None of these things that have

  281. not been contrary to Scripture and they've only proven what

  282. Scripture was already saying. So it wasn't like it was saying

  283. anything. It's no new truth.

  284. You know, they're not giving a new truth.

  285. They're not giving a new prophecy or anything like that.

  286. These things are already said. But here in this book, it says

  287. that, you know, he talks about these, you know, it is going to

  288. be coming. He's already prophesied in

  289. talking about how these men, these ungodly men, these, these

  290. false prophets and false teachers, how they are going to

  291. be judged. This is basically what this is

  292. saying, and it's the same thing that's been said all throughout

  293. the Scripture. And Judes thought it was

  294. necessary or helpful to put it in, but he's talking about him

  295. being ungodly and he mentions it four times, you know, convicted

  296. who? All who are ungodly among them

  297. of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an

  298. ungodly way, of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners

  299. have spoken against him, none of those things go against

  300. Scripture. But it wasn't part of the

  301. original Canon of the Word of God.

  302. But yet we have it. We have it and you know.

  303. The truth of the matter is, is that we were all ungodly at one

  304. time. All of us were ungodly.

  305. In fact, the Bible says over in the book of Romans chapter 5, he

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  306. says that, you know, while we were still without strength,

  307. Jesus came and died for the ungodly.

  308. He justifies the ungodly. So it was, you know, in fact, he

  309. came, He came to, He came to earth for the ungodly.

  310. He didn't come for those who are righteous.

  311. Bible says he came to bring sinners to repentance.

  312. The ungodly. Ungodly simply means without

  313. God, without God in our speech, without God in our thoughts,

  314. without God in our actions. We were all at one time ungodly,

  315. but because of Jesus Christ, because of His love, because of

  316. His mercy, and because of His grace, He justified the ungodly.

  317. He justified us, and all we have to do is believe on Him and He

  318. begins to change us from the inside out.

  319. And the fruit that we were talking about earlier, that

  320. fruit comes because we are connected with Jesus Christ and

  321. He brings fruit in our lives. It's the washing of the water,

  322. the washing of the water. We are cleansed by the Word of

  323. God. We are sanctified by the Word of

  324. God. We're washed through the Word of

  325. God. So I thank God today that we can

  326. come to him in prayer. Even those of us who may still

  327. be without strength, we can still come to Him and we can

  328. repent of anything that we do or are doing.

  329. And we know that the Word of God is there for us, His grace is

  330. there for us, His forgiveness, His love is there for us to

  331. cleanse us and wash us from all our ungodliness and all of our

  332. uncleanness. I'm so happy about that.

  333. I'm so happy about that. So I pray that if there's

  334. anybody here today who may feel in their own hearts, they look,

  335. I'm ungodly and I'm not. I'm not good enough and my life

  336. is a mess. You don't know the kind of life

  337. that I live. You don't know the kind of sins

  338. that I commit. I just want to tell you, it

  339. really doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.

  340. He is here to cleanse you. He's here to save you.

  341. He's here to redeem you. He came for the ungodly, the

  342. unrighteous. And if you feel that my life has

  343. just been a mess because I've tried to do it all on my own,

  344. but I want forgiveness of sins. I want to be forgiven.

  345. I want this Christian life. I want fruit in my life.

  346. I don't want to be controlled by sin anymore in my life.

  347. I don't want my life to be controlled by the enemy anymore.

  348. I want to give my heart to Jesus Christ.

  349. He's not asking you to do anything outside of trust him,

  350. believe in. There's no list of do's and

  351. don'ts that He's going to give you.

  352. We're not going to give you a list of do's and don'ts because

  353. you get saved. The Holy Spirit comes into you

  354. when you the moment you believe, the Holy Spirit comes into your

  355. heart, and He is the one who changes us, not men.

  356. You've been listening to Living Waters of Grace with Pastor

  357. Lewis Harrell at Calvary Chapel Westmoreland in Greensburg, PA.

  358. As Pastor Lewis continues to preach through the book of Jude,

  359. he wants you to realize that you can't be a part time Christian

  360. if you're going to follow Jesus. He is going to ask for your

  361. undivided loyalty. If you try to serve your own

  362. interests while following Jesus, you find that you can't do

  363. either one successfully. But if you run after Jesus with

  364. everything you have, you'll be amazed at how He provides for

  365. you and sustains you on the journey, even when you have no

  366. idea of where your provision will come from.
