  1. This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Clark

  2. Waffer, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland, County

  3. of Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Clark as he

  4. continues teaching through God's Word.

  5. At this great White Throne judgment, there's going to be

  6. famous people there, there's going to be rock stars there,

  7. there's going to be people that did great things on the earth

  8. and the world thought they were wonderful, but these people were

  9. heathen. They never bowed their knee to

  10. Jesus Christ. They never repented of their

  11. sin. They never allowed the Holy

  12. Spirit to save them because they rebelled against the Lord.

  13. The small and the great will be standing there and the books

  14. will be open. The Word of God is what judges

  15. us. When I preach on Sundays, I'm

  16. not judging you and you're not judging me.

  17. There is no exception to who you are on the Day of Judgement.

  18. Every person, no matter what kind of life they lived on

  19. earth, will have to stand face to face with their Maker an

  20. answer for their sins. It doesn't matter what kind of

  21. glory you lived in on this earth and how wonderful the world

  22. thought you were if you didn't glory in the Lord before

  23. yourself. Today Pastor Clark teaches us

  24. that the judgment behold of each other means nothing in heaven.

  25. It's the word that holds judgment against us.

  26. Now here's Pastor Clark in Revelation chapter 20 with

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

  27. today's edition of Living Waters of Grace, Revelation chapter 20,

    Revelation 20:7

  28. verse 7. Now when the 1000 years had

  29. expired, Satan will be released from his prison.

  30. He will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four

  31. corners of the earth, Gog and Magog to gather them together to

  32. battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.

  33. They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the

  34. camp of the Saints in the beloved city.

  35. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.

  36. The devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and

  37. brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and they

  38. will be tormented night, day and night, forever and ever.

  39. Now we see in verse 7 that the thousand year reign, we know

  40. that Satan had been locked up. We studied that the last couple

  41. of weeks and Christ had dominion.

  42. Christ has dominion. Even now we don't grasp that any

  43. way the devil can do anything is through the permissive will of

  44. God. So the Lord is ruling and

  45. reigning. There's never been a second in

  46. human history or the history of the universe that Christ has not

  47. been ruling and reigning supreme.

  48. But we are in a world right now where the devil is loosed and

  49. he's causing a lot of problems for people and blinding people

  50. to their need of a savior. He's causing problems for us too

  51. as Christians, causing us to be lukewarm and indifferent and

  52. apathetic and lazy about following of the Lord many times

  53. causes us to be distracted and focused on things that aren't

  54. going to last. That's part of the battle that

  55. we go through as Christians and the warfare.

  56. But when these thousand years have expired, there's going to

  57. be one more shot that Satan will have after he's been locked up

  58. in the abyss. He's going to be let out of this

  59. prison. And you might say, well, why

  60. does this happen? Why would God do this?

  61. We have to realize that there's a lot of people being born

  62. during the Millennium, people who are born just like we are

  63. born in sin. Many of them will grow up coming

  64. to faith in in Messiah, but there will be some that will

  65. refuse to believe on Christ during that millennial Kingdom.

  66. There'll be this outward form of respect that's like the law.

  67. OK, I don't want to break the law and get in any trouble.

  68. But down deep inside these people will be haters of God.

  69. And so those who are alive at the end of that thousand year

  70. reign their whole interest and they'll they'll merge together

  71. with the devil at that time as one last shot to overthrow the

  72. Kingdom. They won't win.

  73. Impossible. But this will happen.

  74. And this is what this is discussing here.

  75. They'll go out to deceive the nations which are in the four

  76. corners of the earth. Gog and Magog and and this

  77. battle is a little bit different than what you read about in

  78. Ezekiel 37 and 38. That battle was tied in more to

  79. toward the end of the tribulation.

  80. We call it Armageddon. But this battle of Gog and Magog

  81. here is going to be a war that's over as soon as it starts.

  82. The Lord is going to pour out his vengeance and his anger upon

  83. these people who are coming against the beloved city of

  84. Jerusalem at this time to destroy the camp of the Saints

  85. and fire, it says in verse 9, will come down from God out of

  86. heaven and devour them. So it's not really even a war

  87. that's going to be over like that.

  88. And the devil, which is exciting here now, will finally the one

  89. who's deceived people since the beginning of time will be cast

  90. into the lake of fire and brimstone where you might want

  91. to underline this, the beast and the false prophet are there's no

  92. annihilation in hell. People that go to hell are

  93. tormented day and night, forever and ever.

  94. And it tells you that at the end of verse 10, they will be

  95. tormented day and night, forever and ever.

  96. Some people think when you die, that's it.

  97. Some people laugh. Well, I know I'm a Sinner and no

  98. big deal because when I die, I'm going to be with my friends.

  99. We're going to party down there and these crazy ideas of what

  100. the afterlife is like. But there will be no parting.

  101. There'll be no sense of togetherness.

  102. You'll be alone by yourself and your own thoughts and your own

  103. horror, being tormented day and night forever and ever.

  104. And some people will say, well, God is a God of life.

  105. Why would he create such a place called hell?

  106. Why would there have to be such a place for people to go to?

  107. Well, we have to keep in mind it says in Matthew 2541 that the

  108. devil, hell was created and prepared for the devil and his

  109. angels. God never intended one of His

  110. creatures like us to have to go to hell.

  111. It tells us in Peter He's not willing that any should perish,

  112. but that all should come to repentance.

  113. But in his justice he has to be faithful and true to His

  114. Holiness. There will be no sin in the

  115. Kingdom of heaven now. We're all sinners here today.

  116. Even though many of us have been born again and we know Jesus

  117. Christ, we still sin. We don't want to sin anymore,

  118. but we still are in this world, in this physical body, and we do

  119. stupid things. Now, as we grow in the Lord,

  120. we're doing less stupid things, I would trust.

  121. We're becoming more like Christ day in and day out, and we're

  122. becoming more conformed to the image of His Son living as

  123. Christ lived on the earth nonetheless.

  124. So there is this problem that the human race has, and those

  125. who don't know Jesus Christ are going to be cast into this lake

  126. of fire forever and ever. Now there's two judgments.

  127. There's a judgment seat of Christ if you turn to 2nd

  128. Corinthians 510, and there's a great white throne judgment.

  129. And I want to make a distinction in that this morning, because

  130. there's sometimes some confusion about these various judgments.

  131. The Christian, the believer, won't be at the great white

  132. throne. Judgment.

  133. This is a judgment for unbelievers.

  134. The judgment that you and I have to face when we leave this life.

  135. It's appointed on demand once to die.

  136. And after this, the judgment. Our judgment is Second

    2 Corinthians 5:10

  137. Corinthians chapter 5, verse 10. For it says, for we must all

  138. appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may

  139. receive the things done in the body according to what he has

  140. done, whether good or bad. And then the next verse it says,

  141. knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men, but

  142. we are well known to God. And I also trust our well known

  143. to your consciences. Now when I have to stand before

  144. the Lord and give an account of my life, I'm going to be

  145. fearful. I'm not going to be proud or

  146. thinking I got it all together and, and no big deal, even

  147. though I know that Christ has saved me.

  148. It's going to be a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the

  149. living God because all the sudden everything will be

  150. revealed to me very clearly of what my motives have been on

  151. earth, why I did the ministry, why I did whatever I did.

  152. God will test everything as with fire to see if these things were

  153. done for the glory of Christ or for the elevation of our own

  154. self will our own self esteem, whatever it might be.

  155. We can fool one another, but we can't fool the Lord and the Lord

  156. will test these things. The Bible says that some will be

  157. saved as though by fire. If you turn over to 1st

  158. Corinthians chapter 3, it gives a little bit more light on this

  159. particular judgment. First Corinthians chapter 3,

    1 Corinthians 3:5

  160. verse 5, it talks about this aspect of watering, working,

  161. serving the Lord, warning people, and as Christians, our

  162. job, all of us is what I'm doing is I'm sowing seed, right?

  163. It's my job to sow the seed of the Word of God.

  164. The Holy Spirit puts it in your hearts.

  165. Some of us will come along after this message today, and they'll

  166. water the message. They'll say, hey, you know, we

  167. studied about hell and we studied about lost people and

  168. people who need a savior. And what do you think about

  169. that? And we'll challenge each other.

  170. We need to be praying more. We need to be more interested in

  171. sharing our faith. We're watering what God has

  172. already planted. And then some of us will begin

  173. to warn people about their eternal destiny.

  174. And Paul is saying about these different people that serve God

  175. and different callings. He says in verse five, who then

  176. is Paul and who is Apollos? But ministers through whom

  177. you've believed as the Lord gave to each one.

  178. I planted Paul saying Apollos watered, but God gives the

  179. increase. None of us can save anybody, but

  180. we sure can do an awful lot of other things.

  181. And today we're planning the word of God.

  182. We're sowing seed and hopefully all of us will water this seed

  183. that's been planted today, but only God can give the increase.

  184. God's anyone that can bring life out of death.

  185. And it says in verse 7, so then neither he who plants is

  186. anything nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

  187. So it's a marvelous thing to realize that I'm nothing today

  188. and you're nothing not in a sense of being not important to

  189. God. He loves us and values us and

  190. and is watching us to do the things that he commands us to

  191. do, but we can't make anything happen.

  192. It takes the pressure off of us. I don't have to try to whip you

  193. guys up into some kind of state of emotional frenzy to try to

  194. get you excited about the like, I can't do that.

  195. I could do that and you might say.

  196. Well, you know, that was good. I'm, I'm all charged up.

  197. I'm going to go do this for God, you know and all.

  198. That but then you go out and about 5 minutes down the road if

  199. this goes down because the flesh can't profit anything, only the

  200. Spirit gives life and so again it's God.

  201. To God be the glory for great things he has done.

  202. It says that he who plants and he who waters are one.

  203. We're one and the same thing. God isn't saying, because I'm

  204. pastoring today and I'm planning the word, that I'm any more

  205. important than the one who's going to water.

  206. Each one will receive his own reward according to his own

  207. labor. For we are God's fellow workers,

  208. and you are God's field. You are God's building.

  209. So we're all in this together, serving the Lord together

  210. according to the grace of God which was given to me as a wise

  211. master Builder Laid the foundation, another builds on

  212. it. But let each one take heed how

  213. he builds on it. For no other foundation can

  214. anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

  215. And in this church, the only foundation is Jesus Christ.

  216. We're all building upon him. We're not building upon my

  217. ministry or the guy that will take over someday when I'm no

  218. longer here. It's Jesus Christ, we're laying

  219. upon him and him alone. It says that if anyone builds on

  220. this foundation with gold, silver and precious stone or

  221. wood, hay and straw, each one's work will become clear for the

  222. day, will declare it because it will be revealed by fire and the

  223. fire will test each one's work of what sort it is.

  224. So in my own mind, at times I've had this analogy of like a

  225. conveyor belt and I'm sitting on this belt and I see this big

  226. oven ahead of me. Now it's not going to destroy my

  227. soul because I'm saved, right? But everything's going to be

  228. like an MRI. God's going to be able to see

  229. every little nuance of my thought life, my heart.

  230. I mean, it's all clear. And I'm like trembling because

  231. I'm thinking, what does he know that I don't know at this point

  232. in time? And he knows everything that I

  233. don't know, right? He knows the end from the

  234. beginning. And so I'm going in through this

  235. samurai, the spiritual MRI of gods.

  236. And my prayer is that when I go through that, oh Lord, I pray

  237. there's some value to the short life I've lived on this earth,

  238. that somehow I know I wasted a lot of years.

  239. I've done a lot of dumb things. But I pray I finish well so that

  240. when I come out, there isn't this big puff of smoke and

  241. there's nothing. He looks at me and I look at him

  242. and it's just like, and the Bible says there'll be tears.

  243. And I believe the tears are going to come for those of us

  244. who suffer great loss because it's going to dawn on us.

  245. We had this time on earth to serve him.

  246. We wasted our life. We squandered it, we blew it.

  247. And there's nothing to give to him for all eternity.

  248. And then by the grace of God, if I come out of the other end and

  249. all of a sudden I see these jewels, gold, silver, precious

  250. stone laying around my body there, it isn't to bring any

  251. glory to me. It's the Lord is saying, Clark,

  252. I was able to use your life to give me glory.

  253. And all these things that you see are representative of things

  254. that are going to last throughout all eternity.

  255. And the beautiful thing is I don't wear these things and I

  256. don't put them on. And and someone says, well, he

  257. counted for eternity, but he did none of that.

  258. We'll take those things and we'll lay them at the Lord's

  259. feet. What a blessing that will be

  260. that we come out of that spiritual MRI and we have some

  261. sense of substance for the the life we live.

  262. It says if anyone's work in verse 14, which he had built on

  263. it indoors, he will receive a reward.

  264. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself

  265. will be saved yet so as through fire.

  266. I pray there's none of us here that are thinking, well, the

  267. least I'm going to be saved. That's good enough.

  268. No, you don't want to. You don't want to live with that

  269. kind of focus. You want to live so that there's

  270. this fruit coming out of your life.

  271. And so we go back to Revelation and we look at this great white

  272. throne judgment, which is extremely sobering.

  273. We see that in verse 11. I see this great white throne

  274. and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the

  275. heaven fled away and there was found no place for them at the

  276. end of time. The elements are going to burn

  277. this present world, the heavens and the earth, it won't exist

  278. anymore. So there's no place to run and

  279. hide at that time. We can't hide behind a mountain

  280. or a tree or everybody's in the open here at this great white

  281. throne judgment preparing for this final judgment.

  282. Next week we'll look at the beauty of the new heaven and the

  283. new earth that Christ will establish.

  284. And because it says the first earth has passed away in

  285. Revelation 21 verse one, but the small and the great, it says in

  286. verse 12 are standing before God and the books are open.

  287. Now today we got all these great athletes we're going to watch.

  288. Some of them are born again. Some of them know Christ.

  289. Some of them are going to play for the glory of God and some of

  290. them are going to play for the glory themselves.

  291. The saddest thing to read about is men who played in the Super

  292. Bowl years ago. They have a ring that are

  293. selling their ring on the streets to pay bills or to get

  294. drugs. It's tragic that you can have

  295. all that glory and all that fame and all that success and no one

  296. remembers you anymore. It's it's a tragic thing.

  297. And at this great white throne judgement, there's going to be

  298. famous people there. There's going to be rock stars

  299. there. There's going to be people that

  300. did great things on the earth and the world thought they were

  301. wonderful, but these people were heathen.

  302. They never bowed their knee to Jesus Christ.

  303. They never repented of their sin.

  304. They never allow the Holy Spirit to save them because they

  305. rebelled against the Lord. The small and the great will be

  306. standing there and the books will be open.

  307. The Word of God is what judges us.

  308. When I preach on Sundays, I'm not judging you and you're not

  309. judging me. The Word is what judges us all

  310. and sets us all in line with what we need to consider and

  311. repent of and be established. And these books are open, it

  312. says. And another book was open, which

  313. is the Book of life. And the dead were judged

  314. according to their works by the things which were written in the

  315. books as unbelievers. It doesn't take a whole lot of

  316. time for God to reveal to you or me, if we're still lost, that

  317. we're guilty before God. We know it in our hearts.

  318. The Holy Spirit convicts us. We can blow it off and say,

  319. well, I can get saved later. I don't want to get saved now.

  320. I don't think I need. We can have all kind of mental

  321. gymnastics in our minds for putting off the inevitable, but

  322. one day the inevitable will occur.

  323. And this is when there's no place of any appeal.

  324. There's one judge, and he's Jesus Christ.

  325. There is no jury. There's no defense attorney at

  326. this judgement. There's any prosecution and

  327. there's a verdict. You're guilty.

  328. And whosoever is found not written in this book will be

  329. cast into the lake of fire. That's the verdict.

  330. And there is no appeal. You can't say, oh, wait a

  331. minute, this isn't fair, I don't like this.

  332. There's no ability to say anything.

  333. Every mouth will be stopped and every tongue and every knee will

  334. bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is

  335. Lord to the glory of God the Father.

  336. What a horrible thing to understand that in its fullest

  337. sense at that point in time, and then only know that you have all

  338. eternity to suffer and be in torment and hell.

  339. Paul says today is a day of salvation.

  340. If you hear his voice today, repent today.

  341. You might be here without a Savior, without Christ, and

  342. you're hearing the Holy Spirit say something to you that you

  343. need to be saved today. You can't leave this place

  344. unless you let Jesus Christ save you it.

  345. It's very, very clear for your heart knows it.

  346. And Paul says don't put off tomorrow what you know you need

  347. to do today. Repent and ask Christ to be your

  348. Lord and be your Savior today. If you hear his voice, it says

  349. in Hebrews 47, Harden not your hearts.

  350. Wherefore in Hebrews chapter 3 verse 7, as the Holy Ghost saith

    Hebrews 3:7

  351. today, if you will hear his voice.

  352. Second, Peter 39 says Christ is not willing that any should

  353. perish, but that all shall come to repentance.

  354. So let's look at some verses regarding hell today.

  355. So we're all on the same page. Hell is not a fashionable

  356. subject to preach on. Many evangelical churches are

  357. trying to downplay the reality of hell because they don't want

  358. people not to come to church. Hell makes people uncomfortable,

  359. it makes unbelievers fearful, and it makes believers convicted

  360. because we know maybe we're not sharing the gospel.

  361. And so pastors seem to think, well, it's better that we don't

  362. really talk about this subject a whole lot.

  363. Let's talk about some things that are more positive, you

  364. know, but the, the Bible is full of warnings.

  365. And this morning we are in this text and we have to be faithful

  366. to see what it is that the Lord wants us to all understand.

  367. So that when we leave here today, there's not one of us

  368. that are going to leave here not knowing that hell is literally a

  369. real place. And we're going to read the

  370. descriptions of what the Bible says regarding this place.

  371. Hell. The first place I want you to go

  372. to is Mark Chapter 9, verse 44. Look at the context.

    Mark 9:44

  373. He's talking about Jesus warning of offenses.

  374. Whoever causes in verse 42, one of these little ones who believe

  375. in me to stumble, be better for him if a millstone were hung

  376. around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.

  377. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.

  378. It is better for you to enter into life maimed rather than

  379. having two hands to go to hell into the fire that shall never

  380. be quenched. Where in verse 44 their worm

  381. does not die and the fire is not quenched.

  382. It's an everlasting fire continually, forever and ever

  383. and ever. I mean, I don't know about you,

  384. but when it's really, really hot, I don't like being in real

  385. hot temperature for a long period of time.

  386. I want to find air conditioning. I get in the car, I want to put

  387. the air on. I don't like sitting in the seat

  388. when your back sticking to the seat and the sweat's rolling

  389. down your brow. You know you're cutting the

  390. grass and it's a real hot day and all you can think is I just

  391. need a glass of water to quench my thirst.

  392. In hell, there will be no water to quench your thirst.

  393. It'll be constant torment forever and ever and ever.

  394. I go to the Y and work out a couple times a week.

  395. I go into the steam room and all the guys are sitting around in

  396. there and we just sort of talked and I can't take it very long.

  397. I mean, some of those guys, it just seemed like they can stay

  398. in there forever. And after maybe 5 minutes, I

  399. can't wait to get out of that place.

  400. I couldn't imagine to be in hell, which is going to be a

  401. million times worse than the hottest steam bath that you

  402. could ever be in, that you don't get any relief.

  403. That is ongoing onward forever and ever.

  404. Now I have relatives that still don't know Jesus Christ.

  405. We eat with them, we have holidays with them, we love

  406. them, and they still will not come to Christ.

  407. I need to be able to see them in that hell now so that somehow no

  408. matter what happens, I need to keep telling them they need

  409. Jesus not to ignore the subject because it makes them

  410. uncomfortable. Or maybe we've covered it before

  411. many, many times and they didn't repent.

  412. So you just figure I'm just going to give up.

  413. There's no sense talking to him. I don't see Jesus or the

  414. apostles ever stopping warning people about their need of a

  415. Savior. They never grew weary.

  416. They never got tired of telling people they need to repent for

  417. the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  418. The next section is Luke chapter 16, verse 23.

    Luke 16:23

  419. This is the story of the rich man, the Lazarus.

  420. I'll start in 19. There was a certain rich man who

  421. was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously

  422. every day. And there was a certain beggar

  423. named Lazarus, full of swords, who was laid at his gate,

  424. desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich

  425. man's table. Moreover, the dogs came and

  426. licked the swords. So it was that the beggar died

  427. and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom.

  428. The rich man also died and was buried, and being in torment in

  429. Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and

  430. Lazarus in his bosom. Now before the gospel and before

  431. the resurrection, there's this holding place where the Old

  432. Testament believers were. It was called the bosom of

  433. Abraham. And the other side was the

  434. compartment, if you may, of a prison called Haiti.

  435. So all the unbelievers were in there, and they're still there

  436. waiting for the final judgment. And so this rich man is able to

  437. see this beggar, and he is in torment, it says in verse 23.

  438. And in being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and

  439. saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.

  440. And he cried, and he said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me

  441. and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in the

  442. water and cool my tongue, for I'm tormented in this flame.

  443. Think about the day that you had the greatest thirst, that you

  444. were begging for water. I had my appendix out when I was

  445. in 9th grade. They couldn't give me water

  446. because I had perinitis all through my body and they had

  447. tubes running in. They almost died and I remember

  448. making promises to God. I hear the bells at Seton Hill.

  449. I didn't even know who God was at the time, but I heard the

  450. bells in the conviction. I said, God, if you get me

  451. through this, I'll follow you. All the days of my life I lie.

  452. When I got out of that hospital, I went back to my sinful ways.

  453. Thanks for being with us today here on Living Waters of Grace.

  454. We are in the Book of Revelation, and we find it

  455. fascinating how influential and involved the angels are in this

  456. book. They bring about whatever it is

  457. that God has instructed them to do, but it's through their

  458. actions that much of the judgements come on the earth.

  459. The angels are in submission to God as their authority, but He

  460. utilizes them in unique ways throughout this book.

  461. Like angels have a specific purpose from God, you have a

  462. unique purpose and plan too. God wants to use you in your

  463. life as a testimony to others and to bring others who are

  464. currently lost into the fold of God.

  465. God would love more than anything for all who are willing

  466. to come to Him for salvation, but he wants it to be their

  467. choice, not a forced situation. This is the way God works, not

  468. forcing himself on anyone, but giving each person free will.

  469. If you're interested in learning about this choice that's free

  470. and that it's a gift, go to calvarychapelonline.com and

  472. believe. We'd love to be a help and a

  473. resource for you as you walk through what it means to be a

  476. request. We'd love to hear from you.

  477. That's all for today's edition in Revelation, but there's much

  478. more that Pastor Clark plans to share with us from this

  479. culminating book of the Bible. Stay tuned for that and make
