Jesus Has No Equal | Scott Moore

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jimmy Hitler and I'll be reading from Matthew chapter seventeen verses one through five.

[SPEAKER_00]: After six days, Jesus took Peter, James and John, his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves and he was transferred before them.

[SPEAKER_00]: His face shown like the sun and his clothes became as wide as the light and behold Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you wish, let us make

[SPEAKER_00]: Here are three tavernacles, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.

[SPEAKER_00]: While he was still speaking behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud saying, this is my beloved son and whom I am well pleased hear him.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is the word of the Lord.

[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Jimmy.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, y'all be seated.

[SPEAKER_01]: I normally only get to preach too often up here, not by a church decision, a lot of times I just can't, but I did have a friend who saw me with a headset on.

[SPEAKER_01]: He said, hey, it must be Old Thomas Sunday.

[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, play pray for his dark.

[SPEAKER_01]: We could heart please.

[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, listen, I love this section of Scripture.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was reading it, Kurt told me a couple of weeks ago that it was just a stand-alone message and I was reading through Matthew at the time and I came across this transfiguration moment and it just really stood out to me and just started just sort of digging into it a little bit.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm always intrigued with Peter's response to this miracle that's happening in front of him, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's seeing Jesus in all his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's Moses and Elijah, and sometimes it's funny to me how he responded.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think sometimes we get in situations that are just so great, it's hard to put words to.

[SPEAKER_01]: But probably about a year ago, it's been wanting to go to celebrate recovery with me on Thursday nights.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because we get in about ten, thirty.

[SPEAKER_01]: If he has school, he just can't go with me.

[SPEAKER_01]: And this particular week, they didn't have school Friday.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, Kage got to go to celebrate recovery with me.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Kage did his thing.

[SPEAKER_01]: They talked a lot of people shook a lot of hands and we drove home.

[SPEAKER_01]: And as we're walking up the steps to the house, he went, this was a great day.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, man, I could tell he just thoroughly enjoyed.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's Peter right here.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't even have Peter really spoke to be honest with you.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you and I have experienced some holy moments, you know, and met matter of fact, maybe some moments where it's just too much to really take in.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it's always funny to me that Peter's always really the one of the first ones to speak up.

[SPEAKER_01]: And here he is, one of the original twelve

[SPEAKER_01]: And he, James and John, get to experience this moment together.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the reason not all of them were there, because they get to hear about after the resurrection, which I probably think they probably felt really jipped, you know, after they saw what happened.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I want to read this section one more time.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I want you to place yourself in Peter, James, and John's position.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so just get your your your imagination going here for a second.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now after six days like a week, it said Jesus took Peter James and his John and his brother and he let him up on a high mountain by themselves.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he was transfigured before them.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he says, his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became his white as the light.

[SPEAKER_01]: His glorious own, on full display here.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was Spurgeon that said, the miracle was not that he displayed his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: The miracle is that he concealed his glory for as long as he did.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then it says, and behold, Moses and Elijah appear to them talking with him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Peter knows, probably has memorized first five books to the Bible.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he's seen his hero here.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's seen a lodge here.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then he says, the Peter answer and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's talking about an understatement of the year.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is good for us to be here.

[SPEAKER_01]: Then he says, if you wish, let us make here three Tabernacles, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah, and while he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud saying, this is my beloved son, and whom I am well pleased hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Transfigured before them.

[SPEAKER_01]: Face shown like the sun.

[SPEAKER_01]: He became white as a light.

[SPEAKER_01]: John would later write, he's there.

[SPEAKER_01]: He would later write that, hey, we beheld his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he remembers this moment.

[SPEAKER_01]: We beheld his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: It all happened in front of us and we beheld his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: Peter would write in second Peter, we were out witnesses of his majesty.

[SPEAKER_01]: This just wasn't an everyday occurrence in the New Testament.

[SPEAKER_01]: This was not an everyday occurrence in the entire Bible.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I have to ask myself some questions.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why was it just Peter James and John?

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we know that they were told to keep it quiet till after the resurrection.

[SPEAKER_01]: So if you took all twelve to chances of keeping it quiet, we're less likely.

[SPEAKER_01]: Some scholars even suggest that these three needed closer supervision than the other nine.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you read the gospel, you're going to see these three were a handful.

[SPEAKER_01]: I can imagine Jesus say, look, guys, I got to go up on this mountain.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be back in a little.

[SPEAKER_01]: You three come with me, you know.

[SPEAKER_01]: But why Moses and Elijah, let's just say we've all been reading through the Bible.

[SPEAKER_01]: We started in Genesis and now we're at Matthew seventeen.

[SPEAKER_01]: And what if what if something's hey, I'll stop for a second, because here's what's going to happen.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus is going to be transferred in full glory and two people from the Old Testament are going to show up.

[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think would be?

[SPEAKER_01]: We probably all would guess Moses, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: We'd all guess Moses.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, how in the world would it not the law came through Moses?

[SPEAKER_01]: How would we not guess Moses?

[SPEAKER_01]: I would have the second.

[SPEAKER_01]: I would have given the David.

[SPEAKER_01]: just honestly, not that I do not disagree with God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let me just be real clear.

[SPEAKER_01]: I probably just guessing though, he wrote half the Psalms.

[SPEAKER_01]: He was a man after God's own heart.

[SPEAKER_01]: But it's Moses and Elijah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Some say it's the law on the prophets, you know, and Jesus did fulfill both the law and the prophets.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then, here's a pretty common thought, not, and I really like this one.

[SPEAKER_01]: Both Moses and Elijah had asked to see God's glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: And they were told that you cannot look at God face to face and live.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there's a place in Exodus that's saying that Moses was the only man that saw God face the face, but it's really just a figure of speech to talk about the intimacy of their relationship.

[SPEAKER_01]: But both of them were able to see him pass by.

[SPEAKER_01]: They get a glimpse of his back.

[SPEAKER_01]: And now here they are, these two that asked for it, man, they're standing face to face or a pastor heard once saying, Nelson Price said this one time, I bought a eyeball with a living gun.

[SPEAKER_01]: In full of his glory, they're seeing all the glory, everything that asks for right there.

[SPEAKER_01]: How good is that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen hundred years ago, Moses lived, not hundred years ago, Elijah now, all those years later, there he is in Christ's full glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: What did they talk about?

[SPEAKER_01]: And Luke, it tells us they probably talked about his death.

[SPEAKER_01]: He was going to accomplish that Jerusalem, the upcoming work of the cross, the resurrection.

[SPEAKER_01]: But let's go back to Peter.

[SPEAKER_01]: Lord, it is good for us to be here.

[SPEAKER_01]: And if you wish, let us make here a three tabernacles.

[SPEAKER_01]: One for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

[SPEAKER_01]: And while he was still speaking, behold, that bright cloud, overshadowed them, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud saying, this is my beloved son, and whom I am well pleased hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: pretty abrupt and strong statement to Peter.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, why such an abrupt statement?

[SPEAKER_01]: Why want to really interrupt him over shadow him and stop him?

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, here's what Peter said.

[SPEAKER_01]: This bill three tabernacles.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, depending on your translation, it may say, ten, it may say shelter.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: It said, three T. said, hey, Lord, he said, Jesus, let us feel three Tabernacles.

[SPEAKER_01]: Tabernacles in the Old Testament.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that was the mobile temple.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call it the mobile temple where God came down and met with man for a moment.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it would interact with them for a moment.

[SPEAKER_01]: And only at the Tabernacle did that happen.

[SPEAKER_01]: John, who was there at this transfiguration, uses the same word in John one when he writes the gospel account.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's listen, we says in verses one through three and verse fourteen.

[SPEAKER_01]: He says in the beginning was the word, okay, who's Jesus and the word was with God and the word was God and he was with God in the beginning and all things were made through him and without him, nothing was made, nothing was made that was made and then he says this and the word became flesh and dwelt among us.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we beheld his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: The glory has the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.

[SPEAKER_01]: This little section of scripture here that the original hears of this, that the Greeks and the Jews, this blue their mind.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm going to tell you why I blew the mind of the Jewish readers.

[SPEAKER_01]: For the Jewish readers, they automatically thought of that tabernacle when it says that he dwelt among us.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what they're really saying?

[SPEAKER_01]: He tabernackled among us.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just a tent.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, he says Jesus came to earth.

[SPEAKER_01]: God came to earth in Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: The divine met with humanity, not for a moment.

[SPEAKER_01]: But lived among them.

[SPEAKER_01]: He tabernacle.

[SPEAKER_01]: The divine tabernacle with us.

[SPEAKER_01]: The divine meeting, living among mankind.

[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a huge difference between the Old Testament Tabernacle and the New Testament Tabernacle who is Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's a huge difference.

[SPEAKER_01]: Man, and the Old Testament Tabernacle, the sick, the deformed, the unclean, they were not welcome.

[SPEAKER_01]: The New Testament Tabernacle, again, which is Jesus, they're not only attracted to Him, but they are welcomed.

[SPEAKER_01]: Man, they are embraced.

[SPEAKER_01]: The unclean are touched.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the Old Testament, the clean plus the unclean, equaled unclean.

[SPEAKER_01]: But in the New Testament, the clean plus the unclean equals clean.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the Old Testament uncleanliness is contagious.

[SPEAKER_01]: But in the New Testament tabernacle, which is Jesus, holiness is contagious.

[SPEAKER_01]: The law came through Moses, but grace and truth, John said, came through Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: So how do we attain that grace and truth?

[SPEAKER_01]: John writes, this is not on the screens, but as many who has received him to them, he gave the right to become children of God to those who believe in his name, who are born, not a blood, nor will the flesh, nor the will of man, but a God.

[SPEAKER_01]: to believe in His name, to believe in the name of Jesus, is to believe in the character Jesus, to believe in the work of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, some of you may be thinking, surely there's gotta be more to this than that.

[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm gonna become a child of God, surely there's gotta be more to be done than just that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Every other religion in the world basically says, you and I gotta climb the ladder if we wanna get to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Every other religion in the world says we have to do that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now what does that mean?

[SPEAKER_01]: The first one is this.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to get to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to attain this salvation.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be a child of God.

[SPEAKER_01]: So you know what?

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be better.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be better.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to quit cursing.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going any higher than this right here.

[SPEAKER_01]: And what happens is we're trying to do better.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to get to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to work our way there, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden we slip.

[SPEAKER_01]: Also, we start back over.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, I'm going to be, I'm going to start going to church more.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, that'll please God and maybe I'll get in.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to start serving more.

[SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden, we go back, we go back down, and you don't will do too.

[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we'll take these means of grace or these spiritual disciplines like, man, we get into read the Word and God can speak to us in that, or we can come together as a church family, meeting with believers and being encouraged, being together, we can take prayer or journaling.

[SPEAKER_01]: And all of a sudden, we take them and make them work, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, I really want to please God or get in.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to start going to church more.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to read my Bible more and maybe that's it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to pray more.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give more.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we try to climb this ladder to God by our own behavior.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is this really does permeate the church.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is a works theology saying basically if I'm going to get saved, it's up to me to climb the ladder.

[SPEAKER_01]: I got to do

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it really does permeate our thoughts.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a recovering Pharisee, and I say that honestly, I like works.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like checking a list.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like a good to do list, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: But it permeates the church, this thought.

[SPEAKER_01]: I met with a friend of mine not too little about six months ago.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he was at the restaurant before me, and I walk in.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's sitting at the booth.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's just riding feverishly in his journal.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I just sit down and I'm thinking it's a gratitude journal, whatever.

[SPEAKER_01]: So what are you doing?

[SPEAKER_01]: He said, I'm just trying to get in.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, in to where?

[SPEAKER_01]: Was him trying to get in to heaven?

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you believe in Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, you've confessed him as Lord.

[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, you believe in the work on the cross.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know the product of some story.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're in.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're in.

[SPEAKER_01]: But his mind, it was still up to him.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was still up to him.

[SPEAKER_01]: It permeates the church.

[SPEAKER_01]: Be better, do better, work harder, climb higher.

[SPEAKER_01]: This latter mindset, again, it's a good work theology, meaning the better I am, that the greater chance I have of getting in.

[SPEAKER_01]: The better I am, the greater chance of salvation, the better I am, the better chance of forgiveness, of being saved.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, as James was safe, faith without works is what?

[SPEAKER_01]: Dead, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Good works are evidence of our salvation.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're not the latter to our salvation.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to hear this.

[SPEAKER_01]: You can't beat good enough to get saved.

[SPEAKER_01]: We can't.

[SPEAKER_01]: But good works, serving, using our gifts or talents, those are evidence of our salvation.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love what John writes and again, and John won, about the latter.

[SPEAKER_01]: He says, Nathaniel said to him, now Jesus has gone and he's picking up some disciples and Nathaniel had a conversation.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Jesus said, I know you, here's an Israelite with whom there's no deceit.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Nathaniel said, how do you know me?

[SPEAKER_01]: And Jesus said, before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.

[SPEAKER_01]: Nathaniel answered and said to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're the King of Israel and Jesus answered and said to him, because I said to you, I saw you under the victory, do you believe?

[SPEAKER_01]: You will see greater things than these.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he said to them, most assuredly, I said to you, hereafter, you shall see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the sun of man.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm gonna tell you where Nathaniel's mind went, I'm gonna tell you where all the Jewish readers, their mind went, their mind went all the way to the beginning.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Genesis, when Jacob had a dream about a ladder, and this is Jacob's dream, it says, then he dreamed and behold, a ladder was set on the earth.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it's top reach to heaven and there are the angels of God, we're ascending and descending on it.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what Jesus is saying?

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus is saying, I'm the latter.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the latter.

[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't climb the ladder.

[SPEAKER_01]: God came down and tabernackled among us.

[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't work our way up to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: May God came down to us.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a ladder of obedience to salvation that we climb.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's a ladder of mercy and grace and truth where God came down to us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's another thought that can permeate churches.

[SPEAKER_01]: Some level is that all religions lead to God, that all ladders lead to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Buddha's last words to his followers were this, try to accomplish your aim with diligence.

[SPEAKER_01]: Last word to us, Father, try to accomplish your aim with diligence.

[SPEAKER_01]: Your aim is God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Try to work hard, climb the ladder, do good.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I hear in that, try to accomplish your aim with diligence.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, good luck.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I hear.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's no confidence of salvation in the work that you and I would do if we were trying to get it by works.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what Jesus' last words were?

[SPEAKER_01]: It is finished.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is finished.

[SPEAKER_01]: Man, at the cross, all of our sins were mailed to that cross, right there.

[SPEAKER_01]: Man, and when we believe in the death and burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, guess what?

[SPEAKER_01]: Man, we are in.

[SPEAKER_01]: Man, salvation has been attained in Christ.

[SPEAKER_01]: God came down the ladder for us, and to all who it believe in Jesus, He gives the right to become children of God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now we can understand these words from God to Peter.

[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I want to say one more time.

[SPEAKER_01]: He said, this is my beloved son and whom I'm well pleased hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a Peter made the mistake of saying, hey, I'm going to build a tabernacle for Moses because he's divine and I'm going to build a tabernacle for Elijah because he's divine and Jesus, I'm going to build a tabernacle for you because you are divine.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus has no

[SPEAKER_01]: And now listen, Moses and Elijah, love them, not divine.

[SPEAKER_01]: Great men of God, not divine.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus has no weak.

[SPEAKER_01]: Has no weak.

[SPEAKER_01]: None whatsoever.

[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what it says and Hebrews about Moses.

[SPEAKER_01]: For this one, Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses.

[SPEAKER_01]: And as much as he who built the house has more honor than the house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what it said about

[SPEAKER_01]: angels, and John talked about the angels going up and down.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus did.

[SPEAKER_01]: He said, for to which are the angels that he ever say, you are my son today.

[SPEAKER_01]: I have a God and you.

[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I will be him a father and he shall be to me a son.

[SPEAKER_01]: But when he again brings the first born into the world, he says, let all the angels of God worship him.

[SPEAKER_01]: But to the Son He says, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, aceptor of righteousness is aceptor of your kingdom.

[SPEAKER_01]: But to which of the angels has He ever said, sit at my right hand to make your enemies your footstool.

[SPEAKER_01]: Moses is not equal to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Elijah is not equal to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Angels are not, I'm sorry, to Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: My best behavior is not equal to Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Keep in all the rules are not equal to Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus has no weak.

[SPEAKER_01]: Back to Matthew, seventeen, five.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is not but love, it's son.

[SPEAKER_01]: In whom I'm well pleased.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear Him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear Him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Moses said in Deuteronomy, he says, him, you shall hear when he's talking about the coming Christ, him, you shall hear.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear him, hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: If Jesus has no equal, who do we seek out to hear most?

[SPEAKER_01]: If he has no equal,

[SPEAKER_01]: Where are we seeking our direction?

[SPEAKER_01]: Where are we seeking words of life from?

[SPEAKER_01]: What's dictating our thoughts?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because know this, our lives always move in the direction of our strongest thoughts.

[SPEAKER_01]: Here's some questions I have to ask for myself and for all of us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Do I value his voice over influencers?

[SPEAKER_01]: Do I value hearing from him?

[SPEAKER_01]: above all others.

[SPEAKER_01]: Do I value him over politics or do I think that politics is divine and it'll save the world?

[SPEAKER_01]: Do I see him and hearing from him and his word together as a church family in prayer and in growth groups and step studies?

[SPEAKER_01]: Or have we placed something or someone beside Jesus as an equal?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't think we would all say, we would not intentionally do it.

[SPEAKER_01]: We would all say we would not intentionally do that.

[SPEAKER_01]: But is there something we're trusted in that we're treating that as divine that is not?

[SPEAKER_01]: Some ideology, some possession in the place of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: And here's something that we can all be guilty of.

[SPEAKER_01]: Have I put a Christian leader or Christian influence or a Christian pastor?

[SPEAKER_01]: in the place of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love what Charles Spurgeon said.

[SPEAKER_01]: He said, if Peter be our master, let us say so.

[SPEAKER_01]: If Calvin be our master, let us say so.

[SPEAKER_01]: If Wesley be our master, let us say so.

[SPEAKER_01]: But if we be disciples of Jesus, then not us follow Jesus and follow him with other men only so far as we perceive, they follow Christ.

[SPEAKER_01]: Are we trusting in good works?

[SPEAKER_01]: Are we trusting in our behavior to get us in?

[SPEAKER_01]: Remember this.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus is the only one God says, this is my son.

[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to him.

[SPEAKER_01]: He is the fulfillment of the law in the prophets.

[SPEAKER_01]: He is the latter.

[SPEAKER_01]: The God came down and dwells among us.

[SPEAKER_01]: So the question that we have to end with is, so what does regard require of us?

[SPEAKER_01]: John says this in chapter six is verse twenty eight twenty nine.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus answered and said to them, this is the work of God that you believe in Him who He sent.

[SPEAKER_01]: You want to know what pleases God?

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what's going to get you into salvation?

[SPEAKER_01]: Believe in the one he has said.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Put your trust in him.

[SPEAKER_01]: So all who do he gets the right to become children of God?

[SPEAKER_01]: If you believe in his name.

[SPEAKER_01]: hear him this morning.

[SPEAKER_01]: Seek him this day.

[SPEAKER_01]: Seek him tomorrow morning.

[SPEAKER_01]: Seek him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Trust in him.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's done all the work for us.

[SPEAKER_01]: What we do boo is believe in him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's, let's bow our heads for a moment.

[SPEAKER_01]: And while you got your heads bowed, I just want to ask a couple questions that I've asked of myself.

[SPEAKER_01]: Am I still working to earn my salvation?

[SPEAKER_01]: Am I climbing the ladder in some ways, some form?

[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope today, you know, that you don't have to, because Jesus has nailed all those sins to the cross.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he died and rose against it.

[SPEAKER_01]: That you and I can have eternal life.

[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe you just need to pray something, whatever it may be, just Lord, I've taken my eyes off of you.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm putting them back on you.

[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe some reason I've been there, we got out of the habit of meeting with the Lord.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I love about the Lord, he meets us where we are, and he's never stopped loving us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Never stopped loving us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Just meet with him again.

[SPEAKER_01]: Just again.

[SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe you've placed something in your life and you trusted it for your salvation, whatever it may be.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know in my life I've had too much affinity for politics or whatever it may be.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it can sometimes be the loudest voice, whatever it may be, that voice can be louder than the voice of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear Him, He says.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear Him.

[SPEAKER_01]: Father, Lord, whatever your will is today for each one of us in this room.

[SPEAKER_01]: where we can say without a doubt you have done all the work that Jesus has done all the work he has displayed his glory.

[SPEAKER_01]: Father and front Peter, James and John, and Father, we get to share and we get to share and that.

[SPEAKER_01]: And what we know that Lord, you are divine.

[SPEAKER_01]: You came down and now Lord, we are temples of the Holy Spirit, because you reside in us.

[SPEAKER_01]: I do pray, Lord, that you're spirit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Father would draw us ever closer to your word.

[SPEAKER_01]: Father, you would give us understanding.

[SPEAKER_01]: Father, you would give us instruction and knowledge.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Lord, we would hear you in your word.

[SPEAKER_01]: Father, I pray you give us the desire to hear you in your word.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Father, I do pray that your voice would be the strongest voice that loudest voice in our lives.

[SPEAKER_01]: And Father, I pray that in the name of Jesus, amen.
