  1. Well, isn't it good to be in God's house this

  2. morning? We came in for prayer meeting and it

  3. took me a little longer to get here than I thought

  4. it would, so I kinda snuck in the back. And what

  5. I heard was an awesome thing, pastor. I heard

  6. men and women of God prayed in the Holy Spirit

  7. interceding for what's gonna happen today. See,

  8. every revival that was ever birthed, it was birthed

  9. out of the spirit of prayer. We need revival.

  10. We need revival. We need an awakening in our

  11. cities. And so when you walk through the door

  12. and you hear men and women of God praying in

  13. the Holy Spirit, I was so excited. And I told

  14. pastor, I'm excited to be in a Pentecostal church

  15. this morning. Because let me tell you, I go almost

  16. every Sunday to a different assembly of God church.

  17. But this morning I was excited to be in a Pentecostal

  18. church. And I pray that we get back to our roots.

  19. I pray we get back to our roots. So what you

  20. have here is special, I want you to know that.

  21. What you have here is special, where the gifts

  22. are in operation. Where, let me tell you, I grew

  23. up in a Pentecostal church. And it's the Pentecostal

  24. church is when I had my bad days, I could go

  25. and I could find God, and my bad days can be

  26. turned into good days. It's the Pentecostal church

  27. is when I invited this A friend of mine that

  28. I used to work with, his name was Lee. And we

  29. called him Greasy at work. That's just what he

  30. looked like. He was Greasy. And as you can tell,

  31. I'm from the South. We might say things a little

  32. different and maybe be a little, we're kind of

  33. nice but mean at the same time. Y 'all know what

  34. I'm talking about. We had a dude named Greasy.

  35. Greasy, do smoke three, four packs a day. He'd

  36. get off work and he'd get them that natural light

  37. and the quart bottles and the brown bag and sometimes

  38. he'd go with me fishing. Sometimes our church

  39. had a lake and he'd sneak them quarts of beer

  40. and his cigarettes into the boat and we'd be

  41. out there fishing and he'd start drinking beer

  42. at the Pentecostal church. I'm like, man, what

  43. are you doing? But you know what I did? I got

  44. there on that lake with him. That's around that

  45. Pentecostal church and I just told him, this

  46. ain't got good. You see this sunset. I called

  47. him Lee, I didn't call him Greasy all the time.

  48. But you see this sunset? God knew that me and

  49. you would be fishing out here today. And he knew

  50. we'd need to see this sunset. God knew me and

  51. you were fishing out here today. He knew you

  52. need to catch that largemouth bass. And oh, you're

  53. gonna keep it? We usually throw them back, okay.

  54. You're gonna keep the eight pound bass and fillet

  55. it. Well, that's good for you, all right? But

  56. I took Lee, he finally made it after years. I'm

  57. talking about years. He made it inside that Pentecostal

  58. church And he knelt down at an altar and he gave

  59. his heart to Jesus Now it took years pastor years

  60. of taking on fishing. I didn't get offended by

  61. his beer drinking I didn't get offended by a

  62. cigarette smoking But I just loved old him and

  63. told him who Jesus was And then one day at work.

  64. He just said I can't do it no more and he handed

  65. me those cigarettes He said I need to get rid

  66. of these See, God did something and it was through

  67. the power of a Pentecostal church. And so I'm

  68. so thankful this morning to be at a Pentecostal

  69. church. And if you're in here and maybe your

  70. first time to church, or you're new to this place,

  71. I'm telling you, you are in the right place.

  72. God, the Holy Spirit, drew you to this place,

  73. and you are where you are supposed to be. And

  74. if you'll turn in your Bibles to Acts chapter

  75. three, we're gonna read verses one through 10,

  76. and I'm excited to read this. God put this on

  77. my heart about this story, this account, and

  78. it's been on my heart for a couple weeks, and

  79. so I'm excited to preach it. Now, can y 'all

  80. help me preach this morning? Y 'all can help

  81. me preach, because I am a southerner. This will

  82. be the first time this Florida boy has ever preached

  83. with the snow falling down outside. I don't know

  84. what that means, if it means anything at all,

  85. but I think it's pretty cool. But I like to hear

  86. an amen once in a while. I like to have a little

  87. help, because I'm just excited about what God's

  88. gonna do. I preached this last night in my living

  89. room. The power went out, so I had to light a

  90. candle just to see. I could barely even read

  91. my Bible, but I preached it last night. and I

  92. was excited about it. Why, because I believe

  93. the Holy Spirit wants to do something in this

  94. church. I don't believe the Holy Spirit wants

  95. to do something in your life today. Can somebody

  96. say amen? Now I might fall off this thing because

  97. I am energetic and I like to walk when I talk

  98. and I like to, and so this, I don't know how

  99. you do it, pastor, it's not a lot of room and

  100. I am a lot bigger than you, so if I fall off,

  101. just laugh at me and we'll just keep on going.

  102. Somebody say amen. Amen, so Acts three, verse

  103. one through 10. Now Peter and John went up together

  104. to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of

  105. prayer. Things happen when we pray, somebody

  106. say, praise God. A man lame from birth was being

  107. carried, whom people placed daily at the beautiful

  108. gate of the temple to ask alms for those who

  109. entered the temple. There's a lame man asking

  110. for money, needed something in his life. Seeing

  111. Peter and John about to go into the temple, he

  112. asked for alms. Peter gazing at him with John

  113. said, look at us. So we paid attention to them,

  114. expecting to receive something from them. Then

  115. Peter said, I have no silver and gold. Imagine

  116. there was a little disappointment right there

  117. in the moment he said, I have no silver and gold.

  118. But I give you what I have. Back in my youth

  119. pastor days, this one went out and said, look

  120. at your neighbor and say, I give you what I have.

  121. Oh, come on somebody, I give you what I have.

  122. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise

  123. up and walk. He took them by the right hand and

  124. he raised them up. What I love right there. If

  125. we pause for a moment, he said, get up and walk,

  126. and he didn't walk away from him. No, Peter and

  127. John had some faith there. They put their hands

  128. on him. They grabbed him by the hand and said,

  129. no, you're gonna get up and walk in the name

  130. of Jesus. That's how much we believe right now

  131. the power of God is so real that the Holy Spirit

  132. can do a work in your life that I'm literally

  133. gonna pick you up by the hand and I'm gonna walk

  134. with you. I think so many times we want miracles,

  135. but we wanna see the miracle happen from the

  136. pew. And we don't get out with the people that

  137. actually need the miracle. We don't go lay hands

  138. on the people that are sick anymore. I don't

  139. know why we don't do that. We don't go to the

  140. hospitals and pray for those that are in hospitals

  141. and that are in those beds anymore. But Peter

  142. and John, they put their faith in action. They

  143. said, I'm gonna give you what I have. And not

  144. only, I'm not just gonna say a little prayer,

  145. and I've been guilty of it, too, just saying

  146. a little prayer and moving on. I'm not gonna

  147. say a little prayer and move on and not think

  148. about you anymore. No, I'm gonna grab you by

  149. the hand, and we're gonna see this thing through.

  150. Just imagine if you started grabbing people by

  151. the hand in your workplace. Pastor, just imagine

  152. if these students start going to their schools

  153. and they start grabbing people by the hand in

  154. the lunchroom. Just think what happens, maybe.

  155. God's called you to walk in the bar and start

  156. snatching people out of those bars and bringing

  157. them to this church where they can find deliverance.

  158. Come on somebody. I think it's time that we start

  159. going where the sinners are, that we start going

  160. and finding the people that are lost, that we

  161. start taking people and we raise them up by the

  162. hand. And after he raised them up, immediately

  163. his feet and ankles were strengthened. Jumping

  164. up he stood and he walked and he entered the

  165. temple with them walking and jumping and praising

  166. God. The doing went, he didn't have no strength.

  167. He was a beggar. He didn't have anything. His

  168. life was not very important. His life was pretty

  169. miserable. But when two men full of the Holy

  170. Ghost showed up. They were able to reach down

  171. and they were able to pick them up in the name

  172. of Jesus, the name above every other name. He

  173. was able to walk and they said he started jumping

  174. up and down. Oh, that second song, that old Hillsong,

  175. what was that? That second song, that old Hillsong

  176. song you started doing. God is great. I was about

  177. ready to do it. I wish I had brought my guitar

  178. this morning and I would have played it with

  179. you. I started singing that song and all my friends

  180. were like, man, he's going to turn crazy. My

  181. kids were like, what is going on? I was excited

  182. because I remember that song from my youth. I

  183. remember that song, God is great. When this praise

  184. fills the earth, it fills the heavens. And I

  185. sang that at the top of my lungs. You might have

  186. saw it for a minute. I kind of wanted to jump

  187. up and down a little bit. Why? Because I've just

  188. been in that spot, the same spot as that beggar.

  189. Where I was depressed. I was lonely. Instead

  190. they, the other people, they picked him up and

  191. just dropped him off at the gate. Just where

  192. he could have something. And you may be in here

  193. today and you make him physically walk, but spiritually

  194. you're dead. Spiritually, you don't have no strength

  195. inside of you to do anything else. But I pray

  196. that we have a Peter and John moment here in

  197. the next 20 minutes. That you can come down to

  198. this altar that, you know, physically his ankles

  199. wouldn't work. And you might have a physical

  200. problem. We'll pray for that and believe God

  201. to heal you. But spiritually, your spiritual

  202. ankles just might not work and they need some

  203. strength in them. And I pray that you have a

  204. Peter and John moment. I pray that you jump up

  205. and down a little bit, that you walk and praise

  206. God. And we'll keep going. All the people saw

  207. him walking and praising God. They knew that

  208. it was he who set for arms at the beautiful gate

  209. of the temple. Wouldn't it be wonderful to walk

  210. into your workplace tomorrow and people see a

  211. change in your life? Wouldn't it be awesome to

  212. walk into your workplace tomorrow and they see

  213. a miracle has happened in your life. And they

  214. were filled with wonder and amazement at what

  215. happened to him. See, when Jesus touches you,

  216. there's wonder and amazement. Let's pray. Dear

  217. Heavenly Father, we love you and we praise you.

  218. And we thank you for this day, we thank you for

  219. your word, and God, I pray right now. That is

  220. not just me speaking, God, but Holy Spirit speak

  221. through me. Well, God, I pray that every person's

  222. heart in here be open to your word, that our

  223. eyes be open to your word, that our ears be open,

  224. that we can hear your word today. And God, if

  225. we need a touch from you, we know that we can

  226. get it today. And God, I pray if there's anyone

  227. in here that they don't know you, if they're

  228. lost or they never called on your name, that

  229. today is the name that they call in the name

  230. of Jesus, God. I pray if there's anyone in here

  231. that they want to be empowered by your Holy Spirit,

  232. that today is the day that they're empowered.

  233. Today is the day they're filled with the Holy

  234. Spirit. God, I pray that today is a day that

  235. it starts a revival. God, I pray that today is

  236. the day that miracles happen. So Lord, anoint

  237. your word. Let it be used for your glory and

  238. may we leave this place changed in Jesus' name,

  239. amen. Amen. I believe we could go home after

  240. that. You can never beat the scriptures, can

  241. ya? You can never beat the word of God. We were

  242. talking earlier with pastor and some, he was

  243. sharing some stories about pastors and maybe

  244. like some people have like, I would call them

  245. bad, church growth strategies and things like

  246. that. And you can read book after book after

  247. church growth and you can get different ideas

  248. and systems and different things and we need,

  249. obviously we need systems and things in churches.

  250. But the most important thing we need is the Holy

  251. Spirit. And I think about book after book. that

  252. comes out sometimes, and how to grow your church.

  253. But when I see Peter and John, Peter was basically

  254. the first pastor, right? How did they grow the

  255. church? Well, they go find a man that can't walk.

  256. They go find the least of the least, and they

  257. pick him up. And they say, in the name of Jesus,

  258. rise up and walk. But so many times we're just

  259. worried about how things look or how things feel

  260. and we're not We're not dealing with the we're

  261. not going to work to those people that need Jesus

  262. the most See Peter said I give what I have What

  263. a way to live your life What a way to live your

  264. life I give what I have are we giving what we

  265. have when we go to Walmart Are we given what

  266. we have when we go to work tomorrow morning?

  267. Are we given what we have, young people, when

  268. we're going to school tomorrow? Are you given

  269. what you have? See, Peter and John didn't have

  270. what the beggar was begging for. I want us to

  271. pay attention for that for a moment. Peter and

  272. John did not have what this man was begging for.

  273. The man needed some money. And there's going

  274. to be times in your life people are going to

  275. come through this church and they're going to

  276. beg. We were at Carlinville at the district office

  277. and a lady come in begging. And I made a mistake,

  278. I shouldn't have opened the door. That was my

  279. fault. But I opened the door and I couldn't give

  280. her the financial things that she needed. But

  281. we can always pray with somebody. There's gonna

  282. be times, thank God you're giving food. Now you're

  283. giving food, what a wonderful thing. Hey, if

  284. the government can't get it right, let's hope

  285. the church can. I don't think y 'all heard me.

  286. I said if the government can't get it right.

  287. Well, maybe we can at least get it together in

  288. the church. Praise God, brother. It should come

  289. from the church to start with. God gives us the

  290. means and the abilities. If you read in the New

  291. Testament, Peter and John, those guys, they were

  292. coming together and they were selling what they

  293. had to make sure everybody else was taken care

  294. of. Let's take care of the single moms. Let's

  295. take care of the children that don't have no

  296. parents. Let's take care of the people that are

  297. hungry. We don't know why they're in that place.

  298. And so many times we wanna look and judge why

  299. they're in the situation they're in. Fill their

  300. belly up with some food and tell them about Jesus.

  301. Because if you fill them up with food and you

  302. fill them full of the Holy Spirit, guess what

  303. they're gonna wanna do? They're gonna wanna replicate

  304. that. And they're gonna be disciples that are

  305. made and they're gonna do the same things. See

  306. Peter and John didn't always have what the beggar

  307. was begging for, but they had what the beggar

  308. needed. They had what he needed. There might

  309. be alcoholics that start coming to this church

  310. because they hear something good is going on.

  311. They think they need alcohol. They think there

  312. might be drug addicts coming to this church and

  313. they think they need another fix. And you're

  314. not gonna have alcohol to give them, you're not

  315. gonna have drugs to give them, but you're gonna

  316. have Jesus to give them. And I know that sounds

  317. so simple, but it's so powerful. The beggar,

  318. he was just begging for, I need money, I need

  319. money, I need money. I can't do anything, my

  320. life is a wreck. I don't have money. I don't

  321. have the silver and gold, but I give you what

  322. I have. See, we have exactly what Lincoln needs.

  323. This church has exactly what Lincoln needs. I'm

  324. gonna say it again, I don't think y 'all are

  325. getting it. This church has exactly what Lincoln

  326. needs. Because like I told you earlier, when

  327. I walked in and I heard people praying in the

  328. Holy Spirit, I said, oh, this is something special.

  329. Why? This is what's going to change the community.

  330. There are people in this community that are dying

  331. and they're going to hell. Well, I pray that

  332. you're able to go into these communities, you're

  333. able to bring the alcoholics and the drug addicts

  334. in here, the lost people in here, and you give

  335. them what they need. See if we live our lives

  336. in such a manner of being close to the Holy Spirit

  337. and hearing his voice we can give people what

  338. they need And what happens and when you have

  339. what people need you're able to take authority

  340. over the situation See Peter takes authority

  341. over the situation See receiving alms receiving

  342. the money was just a band -aid to this guy's

  343. problem The guy had a problem he couldn't walk

  344. he couldn't work he wasn't able to receive any

  345. kind of Funds, right? He had a problem. Giving

  346. them a little money, it would help them for the

  347. day. But what Peter and John gave him, it helped

  348. them for the rest of his life. And not only that,

  349. when they did that, they were able to preach

  350. and they were able to teach and they were able

  351. to share what happened and who did it. Church

  352. basically went from 3 ,000 to 5 ,000 after they

  353. took a man by the hand and said, rise up and

  354. walk. See, I think God wants his people to push

  355. back the darkness. God wants his people to push

  356. back the darkness. That's the great thing about

  357. this church. I'm sure there's some dark stuff

  358. that goes on in this city. There's some dark

  359. stuff that goes on in this state. We already

  360. see the federal government, they can't get it

  361. together. The local government, sometimes they

  362. can't get it together. But guess what happens?

  363. When the church is the church. When the church

  364. finds the beggars, when the church finds the

  365. lowlies and says, they take them up by the hand

  366. and rise upon the wall, Jesus is glorified, Jesus

  367. is magnified, and the light is shined. See, what

  368. darkness can never penetrate the light. You can

  369. see it talks about that a lot. I'm gonna do it

  370. today. Because last night that power wind was

  371. blowing, it was crazy, I'd never seen anything

  372. like it. We have hurricanes, but we also have

  373. pine trees and stuff to block the wind. It's

  374. like all the corn's gone, so that wind's just

  375. flowing through Carlinville. And I don't know,

  376. I guess something blew on a power line, because

  377. about every 10 minutes it would flicker. Oh,

  378. we're gonna get power back in and it wouldn't

  379. come back on. So what did I do in a dark house

  380. with the power out? I went and got a lighter.

  381. And I found a candle, because my wife likes candles,

  382. right? She likes things to smell pretty. She

  383. doesn't do it for the light, but she likes things

  384. to smell pretty. I don't smell pretty, so we

  385. have to have candles. Hey, y 'all laughing at

  386. my jokes, this is gonna be a good day. But I

  387. got that candle. I got that candle out and I

  388. lit that wick of the candle. And that wick burned

  389. and that candle started to melt. And you know

  390. what I did? I grabbed it and I walked around

  391. the house with it. It lit my path. The moment

  392. that candle was lit, that darkness, it went away.

  393. And guess what I could do with that candle? I

  394. could light more candles. I could light candle

  395. after candle after candle. And if I wanted to

  396. with that candle, I could set the whole place

  397. on fire and everybody could see it. But just

  398. think if every one of us in here, if we let the

  399. Holy Spirit light that candle inside of us, and

  400. then we go to work and we light somebody else's

  401. candle. We go to we go to a family reunion and

  402. we like somebody else's candle we go to Walmart

  403. and instead of going through the self -checkout

  404. line We go through the line where there's the

  405. clerk and you can see on her face She's having

  406. a bad day and she doesn't want to check you out.

  407. She sees your book I'm gonna say buggy, but she

  408. sees your buggy full of groceries. You don't

  409. know what that is Okay, we're good in she sees

  410. your buggy full of groceries and she's like,

  411. oh, I don't wanna check you out, but by the end

  412. of it, when you've shared what Jesus has done

  413. in your life, when you shared about the goodness

  414. of God, may I pray that there's tears start going

  415. down her face, why? Because that woman needs

  416. a touch from the Lord, and so many times we're

  417. trying to avoid people, but God, and it's so

  418. easy to avoid the beggar, Peter and John could

  419. have avoided him, but they didn't avoid him,

  420. they picked him up by the hand and said, in the

  421. name of Jesus, it's time for you to get up. But

  422. are we doing it with the people that we know?

  423. Are we even doing it with our family members

  424. that we love? Are we telling them, get out of

  425. your pity party, get rid of the sin in your life,

  426. rise up and walk into who God has called you

  427. to be? See, signs and wonders will follow his

  428. believers. I love that one of y 'all said that

  429. this morning as we're ending prayer, that I pray

  430. this service ends with signs and wonders. Signs

  431. and wonders follows his believers. Miracles happen

  432. at the hands of obedience of Peter. Miracles

  433. can happen at the obedience of you right here

  434. in Lincoln. Sometimes it seems like Peter can

  435. be a larger than life character. But just a few

  436. months earlier, Peter felt like the biggest failure

  437. on the planet. That will speak to some of you.

  438. That speaks to me because sometimes I feel like

  439. a failure. Sometimes I feel like I let God down.

  440. Sometimes I feel like I don't do what he's called

  441. me to do. And just a few months earlier, before

  442. Peter was raising up a man, performing a miracle,

  443. he felt that way. Peter was someone that walked

  444. and he talked with Jesus. He was very close to

  445. Jesus and he loved Jesus very much. He loved

  446. Jesus so much that when Jesus was getting arrested,

  447. that he went and Peter grabbed the sword and

  448. he cut the dude's ear off. He's like, you ain't

  449. messing with Jesus. But Jesus told him, you know,

  450. in the last supper, in the last and final moments

  451. when they're together, he's like, Peter, you

  452. say you love me, but you're gonna deny me three

  453. times. And Peter's like, no, I'm not gonna deny

  454. you, not me. I can never deny you, Jesus. There's

  455. no way on earth that is gonna happen. And he

  456. was ready to fight. And in that one moment, he

  457. was ready to fight. He loses his purpose in the

  458. next moment. When they say, hey, Peter, hey,

  459. I know you. You're the one that you walk with,

  460. Jesus. You run with that guy. That's who you

  461. run with. That's who you walk with. And Peter's

  462. like, that ain't me. Not me. I don't know that

  463. dude. That's not who I am. I'm not one of those

  464. guys. Three times he says it and Three times

  465. he said and the third time Jesus said well the

  466. rooster's gonna crow before the end of the night

  467. And can you imagine that in the same night? He

  468. pulls out a sword cuts off the guy's ear But

  469. then he turns around says I don't know him He

  470. lost his purpose And I think sometimes some of

  471. us we lose our purpose And I'm not here to give

  472. you some TED talk about purpose or some self

  473. -help book I'm here to talk about your Holy Spirit,

  474. your purpose that is given to you by the divine,

  475. holy, and righteous God. We hear a lot about

  476. purpose. I was listening to a podcast this week,

  477. it was a comedian, and they're interviewing Tim

  478. Tebow, and I think it was something like, he

  479. was saying like, there's like three fifths of

  480. Americans right now, they feel like they don't

  481. have a purpose in life. They don't have a purpose.

  482. You know why? It's because they don't have the

  483. gospel. The gospel gives you purpose. Your work

  484. doesn't necessarily give you purpose, right?

  485. Your truck or your car doesn't necessarily give

  486. you purpose. Your house doesn't give you purpose.

  487. What gives you purpose? It's the gospel. See,

  488. Peter was the man, the Peter, the man we see

  489. performing a miracle in front of the same people

  490. that... Excuse me, let me slow it down. Peter

  491. is performing a miracle right here and he's performing

  492. it in front of the same people that had Jesus

  493. crucified. But that God that was so powerful,

  494. so full of faith, so full of the Holy Spirit,

  495. he lost his purpose and was full of shame. Peter

  496. was a man that was called a God. Jesus called

  497. him and said, hey, come follow me. Jesus right

  498. now is saying to you, man and woman in here,

  499. young person here, God's saying, hey, come follow

  500. me. Jesus also called him to be a fisher of men.

  501. And then Jesus did something really spectacular

  502. in his life. He said, Peter, you're gonna be

  503. the rock. I'm gonna use you, Peter, to build

  504. this church, to establish the church. Peter knew

  505. the calling of God on his life. And some of you

  506. in here, you may know the calling of God on your

  507. life and you've been running from it. Or some

  508. of you in here, you know, you've felt the presence

  509. of God, you've called on His name. But you've

  510. maybe denied Peter, I mean you denied Jesus like

  511. Peter has. And you might be going on your third

  512. time. But I believe God sent me here today to

  513. preach, maybe to wake you up a little bit. Maybe

  514. for the Holy Spirit to do something in your life,

  515. see. Peter got scared when he was called out

  516. for being a follower of Jesus. Peter knew that

  517. he was called of God, and despite all of that,

  518. he lost his purpose. Sometimes even as pastors

  519. and teachers and missionaries, sometimes we can

  520. lose our purpose. We can take our eyes off of

  521. what God has called us to do. Sometimes it's

  522. easier than it even should be. But thank God

  523. that our God is a God full of grace, that he's

  524. a redeeming God, and he doesn't just let you

  525. sit in your self -pity. See, when Peter denied

  526. Jesus, they said he went and wept bitterly. He

  527. went from sore ready to weeping bitterly when

  528. he realized what he'd done. See in that moment,

  529. it didn't seem like Peter was the rock that God

  530. had called him to be There's some of you in here

  531. I believe it like God has called you to do some

  532. things and you messed up or you haven't been

  533. living right or you haven't been doing what God's

  534. called you and Peter at that moment wasn't doing

  535. what God had called him to do He didn't seem

  536. like the rock that he was supposed to be Peter

  537. had one of the worst nights a disciple of Jesus

  538. could have let's just be honest What a horrible

  539. night But thank God a bad night doesn't define

  540. who you are in Christ. I'm gonna say that again.

  541. Thank God that a bad night does not define who

  542. you are in Christ. We're dealing that with people

  543. in our leadership on the island, and I'm having

  544. to tell me that bad night doesn't define you.

  545. Was it stupid? Yes. Was it wrong? Yes. But that

  546. doesn't change the call that God has placed on

  547. your heart. You have to repent, you have to move

  548. on from it, you have to hand it over to God and

  549. say, God, I shouldn't have done this, but it

  550. does not define who you are. And I think so many

  551. times we let one mistake define who we are when

  552. we literally serve a God that died on a cross

  553. for us to wipe that mistake away. See, we look

  554. at our mistake and we don't look at the cross.

  555. If I can tell you, church, stop looking at your

  556. mistakes and start looking at the cross. I said,

  557. stop looking at your mistakes and start looking

  558. at the cross where the Son of Man came and He

  559. died and He bled for you. And He died on the

  560. cross for your sin and your shame. And they put

  561. Him in a grave. But what happened on the third

  562. day? He rose again. So you don't have to look

  563. at your mistakes, but you get to look at a living

  564. God. I said, you don't have to look at your mistakes,

  565. but you get to look at a living God. And you

  566. can ask that living God to enter into your heart,

  567. to enter into your life, and say, I'm going to

  568. serve you with everything that I have. See, the

  569. guilt of what Peter done was probably unbearable.

  570. And you may be in here today and you lost your

  571. purpose. And you feel like you haven't been as

  572. close to God as you need to be. Or you feel like

  573. maybe you've wandered away and you haven't prayed

  574. or read your Bible lately. Or you've been going

  575. to the bars on the weekend instead of maybe coming

  576. to church like you're supposed to. Maybe you've

  577. become a denier. Maybe you're someone that's

  578. living in shame. But Jesus didn't die on the

  579. cross for you to live in shame. Jesus died on

  580. the cross that you can live for his name. I think

  581. so many times we forget that. There's the purpose

  582. right here. If you don't take anything else from

  583. this service, you don't take anything else from

  584. this message that you are called to live for

  585. his name. That's why God breathed life into you.

  586. And if you're breathing this air right now, If

  587. your lungs still have air in them, God bring

  588. that life into you, and that's where you can

  589. pray, for you to praise him, for you to glorify

  590. him. Yours for to live, for the name of Jesus.

  591. And that's why we did this worship, and that's

  592. why I got a little excited to jump up and down

  593. when you started playing that song. Why? Because

  594. God created me for something special. He created

  595. me to worship a holy and almighty God. Sometimes

  596. I forget, but I don't realize, I get to worship

  597. the creator of the universe. I get to worship

  598. a God that is holy and a God that loves and a

  599. God that saves. Sin is on this earth, it's present

  600. on this earth, and sin, it does separate us from

  601. God. But God said, even though that sin separates

  602. us, I'm still gonna send my son Jesus. See, we're

  603. called to live for his name. See, you may have

  604. lost your purpose, but our God is a God of revival,

  605. pastor. You might have grew up going to Lake

  606. Williamson, going to youth camp, and you might

  607. have seen God is great, and his praise fills

  608. the air. You might have jumped up and down a

  609. little bit. You might remember that song when

  610. you were at youth camp. But the last few years,

  611. you've just been getting by. Sunday morning and

  612. Wednesday night's just been a routine for you.

  613. but God is a God of revival. I pray when you

  614. take those students to momentum, there's revival

  615. stirred up in them. See our God is a God of revival.

  616. This week I started playing the song, The Wonderful

  617. Blood, I don't know if y 'all, if you might've

  618. heard that song, y 'all might play it here. And

  619. as that song was playing, I just had to start

  620. praying in the Holy Ghost. And I was praying

  621. and I was praying, I was getting louder and louder,

  622. the house was empty. And at one point I got to

  623. praying so loud. It's like them college students

  624. might hear me. Derek might run over from his

  625. house. He'd probably join me, praise God. I love

  626. that kid. What an anointing man of God he is.

  627. And I'm so thankful for him. He would've helped

  628. me pray. We're so excited. Hey, the church is

  629. gonna be in good shape with people like him.

  630. The church ain't gonna die. We ain't gonna have

  631. to close our doors because we have people like

  632. Derek and young men and young women answering

  633. the call of God. They're believing, they say,

  634. hey, there is a God given purpose for my life.

  635. When I was praying, I prayed and I got to the

  636. point I couldn't even stand up and pray anymore,

  637. Pastor. I just laid on the floor praying in tongues.

  638. Why? Because I needed a God to touch my life.

  639. I just needed to be one with the Holy Spirit

  640. before I preach this message. I needed to be

  641. one with the Holy Spirit before I'm a father

  642. to my kids, before I'm a husband to my wife.

  643. Sometimes I fell on that, but when I can get

  644. in the Holy Spirit, when I can pray, His grace

  645. is sufficient. He's a God of revival. I needed

  646. revival in my life this week. Thank God I was

  647. able to pray. Thank God the Holy Spirit was able

  648. to touch my life where I can come preach to you

  649. this week. I don't want to be up here not full

  650. of the Holy Spirit. See, God is a God of revival.

  651. So I pray that this church has revival, pastor.

  652. I pray that you people in these pews, that y

  653. 'all have revival, and that the revival, that

  654. you're already in a spirit of revival, I can

  655. sense it, I feel it, God's doing amazing things,

  656. and I pray that that spirit of revival continues,

  657. where you can awaken that city out there. I pray

  658. that the spirit of revival continues, that you

  659. awaken that city, and that your young people

  660. get it. that they go into their schools, that

  661. the children's church, the kids there, they get

  662. it and they go in their schools and they tell

  663. their teachers about it. They tell their friends

  664. about it. They invite them to church and they

  665. say, hey, crazy things are happening at my church.

  666. Miracles happen at my church. People that we've

  667. never thought we would see walk in the halls

  668. of a church. They're now in church and when the

  669. pastor says, come up front, they're raising their

  670. hands and worship. That's revival. I pray that

  671. there's a revival that awakens this city and

  672. that it moves through this state. Because God,

  673. we need somebody to do it. And if y 'all don't

  674. do it, who's gonna do it? So many times we, especially

  675. growing up in the 90s, that was a little revival

  676. time, and churches would go from, people would

  677. go from one church to the other, and they were

  678. a revival hop. And they would go from church

  679. to church to church, because there was a spirit

  680. of revival there. Quit running around to other

  681. churches and bring revival to your church. Bring

  682. revival to your community. There's people out

  683. there that need it. But too many times we're

  684. running around chasing things. When we don't

  685. have to chase this, they're in the word of God.

  686. Let me tell you, you don't have to go anywhere

  687. else. You don't have to try out another church.

  688. This is the church for you. Why? Because the

  689. Holy Spirit's in this church, and your pastors

  690. are annoyed, and that's all you need. You may

  691. be in here today, and you're hearing about this

  692. purpose. You're talking about a revival, but

  693. you may have Never found your purpose. And today

  694. can be a day of awakening for you. Today can

  695. be a day of salvation for you. See, Peter probably

  696. thought he was done, but God had great plans.

  697. You could have walked in here today and you're

  698. like, this might be the last time I come to church.

  699. You could have came in here today and you're

  700. driving in your car and you're like, I think

  701. I might be done with my marriage. You can come

  702. here today and you think, I don't know if I can

  703. handle life anymore. Peter was in that same spot

  704. and he was done, but God still had great plans

  705. for his life. See, he was not finished with Peter,

  706. but he was just actually getting started. Oh,

  707. God's just getting started here. I heard you

  708. said you added more seats in, where I praise

  709. God you're going to be adding more seats. Let's

  710. just speak to it. I praise God that we're going

  711. to be adding more seats. I hope one day you're

  712. running two services. Why? Because people are

  713. on fire for the things of God, that people can

  714. come to this house, they can come to this place,

  715. and they can find Jesus. They can find hope.

  716. They can find peace. They can find love. You

  717. see, God has brought you to this place, church

  718. members, to be a part of it. God has brought

  719. you here because let me tell you something when

  720. revival happens When people are coming off the

  721. streets that are drug addicts and alcoholics

  722. They need people to pray with them and they don't

  723. need no little like Oh Lord, just bless them.

  724. No, they need a woman that's full of the Holy

  725. Ghost. I Remember y 'all remember the beehive

  726. hair who remembers those days. I'm from the south.

  727. It may have been a southern thing. I don't know.

  728. Oh But it was something when she we say she got

  729. the Holy Ghost and she prayed her hair down What

  730. did that mean? That mean she interceded, and

  731. she wasn't leaving that place till she heard

  732. from God. She wasn't leaving that place till

  733. she was touched. I'm not saying I'd grow beehive

  734. hair back out, but I'm saying I wouldn't mind

  735. some old lady full of the Holy Ghost praying

  736. for me every once in a while. I don't mind some

  737. old man full of the Holy Ghost praying for me

  738. every once in a while. That's where life change

  739. happens. See Peter was he thought he was done,

  740. but he was just getting started Some of you might

  741. have walked through those doors today. He said

  742. I'm done But if you'll listen to this preacher

  743. for a moment that God's not through with you.

  744. He's just getting started See, I hope that God

  745. is just getting started for me. I was thinking

  746. last night You know, I've been in the ministry

  747. almost 20 years. I might not look it I know I

  748. look kind of young but I have I remember it started

  749. at 16 years old with World Rangers I gave me

  750. my own class because nobody else to step up to

  751. the plate. What a shame When I was 16 years old,

  752. I had Roller Rangers by myself. And there were

  753. about 10 boys in there. Sometimes it was chaos.

  754. But we preached Jesus. 18 years old, I started

  755. teaching Sunday school to the middle school boys

  756. and girls. That was fun. That was when Harry

  757. Potter was popular and everybody wanted to argue

  758. about that. And I'm like, man, I don't care.

  759. Let's just preach Jesus. Started preaching from

  760. a pulpit at the age of 18, answered the call

  761. to missions at the age of 20. We've seen young

  762. people taking them to youth camp and fine arts.

  763. Seen them baptizing the Holy Spirit, now we see

  764. them serving in churches. We got to go to Curaçao

  765. with the Southerners, many of y 'all know them,

  766. we got to plant a church together. We've seen

  767. 12 people at a prayer meeting. One Sunday they

  768. had over 200 people for a worship night. And

  769. the numbers are good, but what's better than

  770. the numbers, we also see people that would come

  771. in our church and they would sit there for months.

  772. I'm talking months. We had one lady, her kids

  773. got saved, the second week they brought on, praise

  774. God for that. Six months later, she came down

  775. to the front and said, I'm ready to give my heart

  776. to the Lord. Amen, yeah, we can praise God for

  777. that. I think so many times we want this instant.

  778. Success. We want our church to double overnight.

  779. It doesn't necessarily always happen that way.

  780. But we didn't put no pressure on that lady. All

  781. we did was love on her. We loved on her. We didn't

  782. judge her. And guess what happened? She heard

  783. the gospel preach for six months straight. And

  784. she surrendered her heart to Jesus. A few months

  785. ago, we baptized eight people in the Caribbean

  786. Sea. Come on, God's doing something. God is doing

  787. something, and we don't shy away from who we

  788. are. We have liberal Presbyterians come to our

  789. church. They're our number one evangelists. They

  790. invite more people to our church than anybody

  791. else. They don't agree with everything we do.

  792. Do I back down from it? Absolutely not. But do

  793. I love her? I absolutely do. Does she feel loved?

  794. She absolutely does, or she wouldn't come. I

  795. guess you can come on to play, that way y 'all

  796. shut up. I pray God's just getting started with

  797. your pastors. I know they've been here for a

  798. little while, but man, the life that they have.

  799. The vision, thank you pastor for just having

  800. a vision. You wouldn't believe the churches we

  801. go to, there's no vision, there's no man, the

  802. mission's on the wall. Somebody say amen. It's

  803. clear what your church is here to do. I love

  804. what your priority is. It is people, come on.

  805. That's what God has called us to do. See, he

  806. was just getting started. Peter was called to

  807. be the rock, and after Jesus descended into heaven,

  808. there was around 120 believers that were gathered

  809. together waiting for the promise to be empowered.

  810. We are a Pentecostal church, come on somebody.

  811. 120 people stay together. See, God gave Peter

  812. a purpose, and he was going to empower him to

  813. accomplish that purpose. Whether you're the youngest

  814. person in this room or the oldest person in this

  815. room, God has given you a purpose and he wants

  816. to empower you to accomplish it. God's not going

  817. to send you to the workplace to be a witness

  818. without empowering you to do it. He's not going

  819. to call you to preach the word to the students

  820. without empowering you to do it. God's not going

  821. to call you to go on missions trips without empowering

  822. you to do it. It's what God wants to do big and

  823. scary sometimes. It absolutely is. But the good

  824. thing about it is He's going to empower us to

  825. do it. So if He's given you a big dream, He will

  826. empower you. He will give you the means and the

  827. resources for you to see that dream fulfilled.

  828. I pray that God gives you big dreams. I pray

  829. that God gives you big visions. God is going

  830. to empower you to do His work. Peter was weak

  831. in his own flesh. He's been weak here before.

  832. You don't have to raise your hand, but you may

  833. feel weak today. See, I'm weak when I try to

  834. do it my own way. Let me tell you, I can't do

  835. it my own way. When I do it my own way, that's

  836. when everything seems to fall apart and it looks

  837. like a disaster. But when Peter received power

  838. from Almighty God, he was able to step up to

  839. the plate. Peter was able to do what God had

  840. always called him to do. Peter was able to be

  841. that rock. Peter was able to be that pastor,

  842. but it didn't happen until he received the power

  843. from the Holy Spirit. They went and they waited.

  844. There's 120 people after Jesus ascended. They

  845. went and they waited and they prayed. Actually,

  846. the ministry really didn't truly start till they

  847. were empowered. And so many times we just want

  848. to run out the door and go, no, no, no. We do

  849. want to send you out those doors. We want to

  850. send you out ready to take on hell with a water

  851. pistol. But we don't want to do it until you're

  852. empowered. So today is your day to be empowered.

  853. Look at your neighbor and say, today is my day

  854. to be empowered. Those people were praying they

  855. knew that God had a plan and a purpose for in

  856. their life God told Jesus told him that as he

  857. was going up to heaven. He gave him the Great

  858. Commission And as they were praying the Holy

  859. Spirit fell on Peter and the other believers

  860. They said it was like a mighty wind and just

  861. rushed through that building and the Holy Spirit

  862. fell on them And they received the Holy Spirit

  863. and they spoke in other tongues as the Holy Spirit

  864. empowered them to do it And what I want to say

  865. about that, while we speak in tongues, it isn't

  866. just for us to feel good. And in Pentecostal,

  867. I'm glad we're excited. Don't get me wrong. But

  868. we're not looking for an emotional experience

  869. here today. We're looking to be empowered. Why?

  870. Because there are people in Lincoln that will

  871. die and go to hell unless you tell them about

  872. them, unless you share the gospel. There are

  873. young people in this church that need to be discipled.

  874. And I know y 'all do a good job because I see

  875. Derek every Tuesday night when he eats my food,

  876. and he tells me, hey, I'm preaching the word

  877. of God now. Come on, somebody. But we don't just

  878. need one, Derek. We need 20 of them. I hope your

  879. church is sending student after student after

  880. student to that place to get discipled. See,

  881. the Holy Spirit empowered them. I can't imagine

  882. what that sounded like. I can't imagine what

  883. it was like when that wind swept through there.

  884. But Peter just a few months earlier said, I don't

  885. know Jesus. Second time, no, I don't know him.

  886. The third time, he even cussed about it. It might

  887. not even have been a PG word. It might have been

  888. bad. He cussed about it. He said, I don't know

  889. the man. And then he went and wept bitterly.

  890. But when he was empowered by the Holy Ghost,

  891. He stood up and he preached like no one has ever

  892. preached before. Oh, I don't think you get it.

  893. I said he preached like no one ever preached

  894. before. See, you may be in here today and you

  895. think you're inadequate. You may be in here today

  896. and you don't think you have the abilities to

  897. be a witness. Peter was someone that was a denier,

  898. but the heater ran away and he was ashamed. But

  899. God showed up in his life and he did it one more

  900. time. If God did it for Peter, he can do it for

  901. you. See that Holy Spirit baptism was not just

  902. for the New Testament church. We are the New

  903. Testament church. And I don't know why we get

  904. that confused sometimes. We are the New Testament

  905. church and that promise to empower is for us.

  906. It's for you. So everyone stand up with me. Oh,

  907. I can't wait for revival to break out in Lincoln.

  908. I can't wait for revival to break out in Illinois.

  909. But it has to start somewhere. Oh, I hope it's

  910. with your students. I hope the night is a night

  911. just full of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit,

  912. empower Peter. And 3 ,000 people were saved.

  913. You mean the man that denied Jesus that was a

  914. scaredy cat, that was a wuss? Someone that we

  915. lost respect for? Yes, God restored the man.

  916. And he was the rock that he called him to be.

  917. God doesn't break his promises. And his promise

  918. is to empower his people. So if you call on the

  919. name of Jesus, you can be baptized in the Holy

  920. Spirit. See, if we can believe the Holy Spirit

  921. can draw us to Jesus, why don't we believe Jesus

  922. can baptize us in the Holy Spirit? Three thousand

  923. were saved. He goes to the temple and he gives

  924. the man what he has. Took him by the hand and

  925. he walked. Did this miracle in front of the people

  926. that tried to kill that had Jesus killed Here's

  927. what's crazy thing to happen And we might need

  928. to get ready for this. I just don't know because

  929. the government is a little wack right now We

  930. might just need to be prepared for it When they

  931. healed the man they preached Jesus They gave

  932. him an opportunity to preach Jesus. You might

  933. not be a great preacher like pastor But I pray

  934. that you do have the ability to lay hands on

  935. somebody and they're healed. And you get to share

  936. the gospel. You get to share why they're healed.

  937. Peter and John, they shared what happened. They

  938. said, we do this in the name of Jesus, the guy

  939. that you had killed. And what did they do? They

  940. locked him up. Oh, I almost fell. I told you

  941. it was coming. They locked him up. They took

  942. Peter. They took John and locked him up. And

  943. it basically says, we don't know what to do with

  944. them. Oh man, I hope that one day the newspaper

  945. and the political leaders of this county and

  946. this city of Lincoln say, we don't know what

  947. to do with those guys. But we gotta send a traffic

  948. cop out here on Sunday mornings to make sure

  949. people can get in. Oh come on somebody, why not

  950. have a big faith? Why not have a big vision?

  951. I pray that school calls you one day, we don't

  952. know what to do, but your students are speaking

  953. some unknown language, and there's about 20 of

  954. them laying out on the floor. Oklahoma, why not

  955. dream that? All we know is that football player

  956. that his ACL was torn, that ninth grader prayed

  957. for him, and they started speaking his unknown

  958. language, and that guy got up and he was able

  959. to walk, and he said his ACL was repaired, and

  960. he's gonna go play football Friday night. Why

  961. not? He is capable of it. But it takes someone

  962. like Peter and John willing to take them by the

  963. hand and sink it up and walk. The Holy Ghost

  964. is in this place. He locked them up. You see,

  965. once Peter was empowered by the Holy Spirit,

  966. he was able to be the man that Jesus had called

  967. him to be. Are you ready to be? who Jesus has

  968. called you to be. Let's just close our eyes for

  969. a moment. If you're praying to the Holy Ghost,

  970. pray to the Holy Ghost. I think God's wanting

  971. to do something in this house. You want to ask

  972. the question again, are you ready to be who Jesus

  973. has called you to be? Young man, are you ready?

  974. Young man, are you ready to answer the call of

  975. God on your life and say I'm ready to preach

  976. the word at my school I'm ready to answer the

  977. call to be a pastor one day. I'm ready to answer

  978. the call to be a missionary one day I'm ready

  979. to answer the call to be a small group leader.

  980. Is that you young man young lady? Are you ready

  981. to answer the call to be on the worship team?

  982. Young lady, are you ready to answer the call

  983. to preach the gospel? You mean I can preach the

  984. gospel too? Yeah, because the Word of God says

  985. the daughter shall prophesy. That means to declare

  986. a message. Come on somebody. Young lady, are

  987. you ready to answer the call? Mom and dad, I

  988. got a question for you. Are you ready to be the

  989. mom and dad that God has called you to be? You

  990. might not have been the best mom and dad in recent

  991. years. Peter wasn't the best disciple either,

  992. but look what happened. Mom and dad, are you

  993. ready to answer the call? Grandma and grandpa,

  994. are you ready to answer the call? Are you ready

  995. to be who Jesus wants you to be? So I'm about

  996. to give two altar calls. The first one is, if

  997. you never called on the name Jesus, and you're

  998. ready to say, I'm ready to call on his name,

  999. I'm ready to find that purpose, This is not a

1000. revival moment. This is an awakening moment.

1001. This is a salvation moment We're about to have

1002. the revival moment But if you're in here you

1003. see I'm ready to call in the name of Jesus I'm

1004. ready to be saved because there's no other name

1005. that can save but the name of Jesus Is that you

1006. where you walk down right now? Yes in front of

1007. everybody because Jesus says if you deny him

1008. in front of his friends He'll deny you in front

1009. of the father. So this is not to embarrass anybody

1010. But this is to rejoice that a soul is being added

1011. into the kingdom of heaven. So we're gonna think

  1012. about 10 seconds if that's you. You're ready

1013. to call on the name of Jesus. You're ready to

1014. say today's the day I wanna be saved. Today's

1015. the day I wanna give, surrender my life to Christ

1016. when you come forward. Dear Lord, I pray if there's

1017. anybody in here as I pray that they'll come forward.

1018. Oh may the day be the day of salvation. But we

1019. want to trust that everybody in here is saved.

1020. So this comes in the next part of this altar

1021. call. I know it's snowing outside and I think

1022. it's awesome. But I think I'm about ready for

1023. the fire to fall inside of this place. If you're

1024. in here today and you're ready for revival. And

1025. I'm not just talking about a church -wide thing

1026. where we all come up here and speak in tongues.

1027. No, I'm talking about something inside of your

1028. heart where you know that you have not been living

1029. right, or you know that you haven't been doing

1030. exactly what God has called you to do. If you're

1031. ready for revival, will you come down to this

1032. altar right now? If you're ready for revival,

1033. if you're ready to see your family, I pray that

1034. the wind blows through this place. Now when they

1035. were empowered by the Holy Spirit, they spoke

1036. in other tongues. If you're in it today and you've

1037. not received the Holy Spirit, today can be the

1038. day. And they spoke in other tongues as the Spirit

1039. gave utterance, as the Spirit empowered. So I

1040. want you guys to trust right now that the Holy

1041. Spirit is going to empower you. And I want you

1042. to pray out loud. And as the Holy Spirit gives

1043. you the words to pray, it's going to see foreign

1044. to you. But I want you to pray in other tongues.

1045. Can we do that? I believe God wants to do that

1046. in this place. Dear Heavenly Father, I will start

1047. singing right now, God, we seek you. Oh we seek

1048. you. Oh God we come to you in the mighty name

1049. of Jesus. We come to you in the name that is

1050. greater than any other name. In Jesus we know

1051. about this baptism, the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

1052. And dear God in your word we know that Jesus

1053. is the baptizer. So God I pray right now that

1054. you baptize young ladies in the Holy Spirit.

1055. That you baptize young men in the Holy Spirit.

1056. And God that you will just put a spirit of revival

1057. on this church. That you'll put a spirit of revival

1058. in this house. Oh let's lift them up church.

1059. Let's start giving them praise. If you're ready

1060. for that revival. God I pray that the people

1061. in these pews that they find the purpose in their

1062. life. That God they might once been like a Peter.

1063. They may once be the nine. God I pray for the

1064. young man that's running away. That he surrenders

1065. his heart to you God. I pray for the young lady.

1066. I pray for the couple that married. is about

1067. to break. They're gonna pray that your healing

1068. and revival is in that marriage. Oh, let's pray

1069. in the Holy Spirit Church.
