  1. This morning, I'm going to take a text that many

  2. of you have heard. I'm going to preach it much

  3. differently than you've ever heard before. I

  4. want you to turn in your Bible to Matthew chapter

    Matthew 14:22

  5. 14, verse 22. I'm going to read out of the NIV

  6. tonight, this morning rather. Very familiar passage

  7. of Scripture, but let me give you a context.

  8. Let me contextualize. I want to remind you out

  9. in the foyer, I have a brand new book called

  10. Taught by God. And it's out there. You can see

  11. Meliana at the end if you'd like to get a copy.

  12. But listen to what it says here. Immediately,

  13. Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and

  14. go on ahead of him to the other side. Everybody

  15. say, go to the other side. Let me give some context.

  16. Jesus had just fed the 5 ,000. How many want

  17. to multiply? How many don't care if you multiply?

  18. Come on. Most of us in this room want to multiply.

  19. And Jesus teaches me something when he multiplied

  20. the five loaves and two fish about multiplication.

  21. I want to multiply. I want Pastor Darren and

  22. Pastor Cammie to multiply. I want everybody in

  23. this house to multiply. And a lot of times we

  24. have an assignment from God. We have a call from

  25. God. But yet what we have in our hands is not

  26. enough to do the things that God has called us

  27. to do. For instance, the five loaves and two

  28. fish cannot feed 5 ,000. It's mathematically

  29. impossible. Even if you go to school in Illinois,

  30. it's still mathematically impossible. Come on.

  31. And so you have to, because, you know, Common

  32. Core, you know what I'm saying? They still do

  33. that, right? It's whatever you think it is, right?

  34. But Jesus receives what can't meets the need.

  35. And I love what he does. Because how many know

  36. that life and death are in the power of our tongue?

  37. He doesn't curse what doesn't meet the need.

  38. He blesses it. Because what I bless multiplies.

  39. You follow me? That's why I want to bless my

  40. country. That's why I want to bless my marriage.

  41. That's why I want to bless Sister Kathy. That's

  42. why I want to bless the church because I want

  43. the church to multiply because if I curse it,

  44. it doesn't multiply. I want to bless my kids.

  45. I want to bless my grand, especially my grandchildren.

  46. I really want to bless my grandchildren, you

  47. know. And so I blessed them. Come on. And so,

  48. however, when he did that, when he fed the 5

  49. ,000, as we read that he dismissed the crowd,

  50. however, There's something that began to transpire.

  51. Because he met the need, people followed him

  52. not because he was a lord of lords and the king

  53. of kings. They followed him because all he did

  54. is meet needs. And this is something that we

  55. can understand because how many know that Jesus

  56. can meet every need? How many know that Jesus

  57. can meet every need? But there comes a time in

  58. our life when we're not seeking him to meet our

  59. needs. We're seeking him because we want to obey

  60. him. We're seeking him because we want to worship

  61. him. We're seeking him because we want to know

  62. him. Come on, are you hearing what I'm saying?

  63. Not just that he meets my needs. Because every

  64. one of us in this room have needs. We all have

  65. need. If you don't have a need, you're probably

  66. not alive. Come on. We all have needs. And so

  67. what God is doing with the disciples when he

  68. tells them to go to the other side because the

  69. crowd started following him because he gave them

  70. free food. And so what happened, because I guarantee

  71. you, you put a sign up there, free food, the

  72. church is packed. Come on. And so what happens

  73. is, at that process, he wants the disciples to

  74. graduate from the ministry of need to the ministry

  75. of maturity. And he wants them to go to the other

  76. side. Now, notice what he says. Then he says,

  77. after he had dismissed them, he went up to the

  78. mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night,

  79. he was all alone, which means he's praying for

  80. the next assignment. But here's where it gets

  81. interesting. Here in verse 24 of Matthew 14.

  82. And the boat was already a considerable distance

  83. from land, buffeted by the waves because the

  84. wind was against it. Everybody say the wind was

  85. against it. Now, how many believe in fasting

  86. and prayer? Why do you fast and pray? Because

  87. there are things in our life that are buffeting

  88. us from getting where we need to be. Right? That's

  89. why we believe in fasting and prayer. So think

  90. about this. These disciples are actually in the

  91. boat of obedience. They're actually doing what

  92. God has called them to do. They're not resistant

  93. to the call of God. They're saying yes to God.

  94. They're getting the boat. They're going to the

  95. other side. But sometimes the tendency is, if

  96. I am doing everything God has commanded me to

  97. do, then guess what? I am now immune to any kind

  98. of warfare. Are you hearing me? I'm in the will

  99. of God. For instance, I'll give you an example.

  100. You know, my wife is a righteous woman. She's

  101. a holy woman of God. She's a giver, but she still

  102. gets cancer. Are you hearing what I'm saying?

  103. And there's a tendency, especially within our

  104. Western culture, to think that as long as I'm

  105. living perfectly, as long as she, as long as

  106. I'm doing what God called me to do, I'm now immune

  107. to any kind of warfare or any kind of storm.

  108. Come on. And so Meliana, I want to tell you something.

  109. Meliana got cancer, but guess what? She got healed.

  110. Come on. She doesn't have cancer. She wanted

  111. to make sure I was aware of that, you know. But

  112. here she is in the will of God, but she's still

  113. under attack. You follow what I'm saying? And

  114. a lot of times, a lot of times we think, oh,

  115. what have I done? What should I have done? And

  116. what we do is we stop rowing to the other side.

  117. Because we're trying to figure out why we're

  118. in the middle of this mess and why we're in the

  119. middle of this storm. Come on, are you hearing

  120. what I'm saying? Because every one of us in this

  121. room is in a storm. And let me tell you something

  122. right now. The fact that you're in the storm

  123. is saying that you are in the will of God. Because

  124. the storm is exposing the opposition. Doing God's

  125. will is going to expose. This is a real enemy

  126. that doesn't want to get this church to the other

  127. side. Can I hear an amen right now? I feel like

  128. preaching. I thought I was in a Pentecostal church.

  129. You should be running by now. Come on. But here

  130. they are in the will of God. Doing everything

  131. God says, and there's this opposition, this thing

  132. that is buffeting them. And so we find out the

  133. famous, the only place in the Bible where this

  134. is recorded. We find out that here they are.

  135. Because sometimes we go, God, why is obeying

  136. you so hard? Because there's a real devil and

  137. a real darkness that doesn't want to get me to

  138. the other side. Church, can I tell you something?

  139. You know, I'm a fundamentalist conservative and

  140. by political stance. But I can tell you something

  141. right now. You know what? Even the fundamentalist

  142. conservative media didn't post the Democrats

  143. and Republicans worshiping God together. That

  144. was never, never said. I was there. I watched

  145. them lift their hands. I watched a congressman

  146. say, I'm a Democrat and I love Jesus. Come on.

  147. You follow what I'm saying? No, I don't believe

  148. that, but he does. No, I'm just kidding. I'm

  149. just kidding. But here they are, buffeted by

  150. the waves and the winds against them. But listen

  151. to this, verse 25. Shortly before dawn, Jesus

  152. went out to them, walking on the lake. Everybody

  153. say, walking on the lake. Well, here's something

  154. I realized. Because why isn't Jesus calming the

  155. storm? Wouldn't that be a lot better? Wouldn't

  156. that give a little bit less drama? A little anxiety

  157. and worry and fear. If you just calm the sea,

  158. everything is going to be fine. That's a lot

  159. easier. Why aren't you calming the storm? Why

  160. are you walking on the water? I'll tell you why,

  161. ladies and gentlemen. Because sometimes Jesus

  162. doesn't calm the storm. And because I'm a prophetic

  163. voice, I'm going to tell you the truth that Jesus

  164. doesn't always calm the storm. He can. He can

  165. do whatever he wants to. He can solve the problem.

  166. He can fix it just like that. But this is exactly

  167. what he's doing. The reason why he's walking

  168. on top of the water is he's telling us, guess

  169. what I'm doing? I'm walking on top of the storm.

  170. Come on, are you hearing what I'm saying? Because

  171. he's trying to teach me. He's trying to teach

  172. you and I that guess what? There are some storms

  173. that I'm not going to calm. But I want to teach

  174. you how to walk on top of it. Come on. Because

  175. there's something in the water. There's something

  176. that's hindering the church from getting across

  177. to the other side. And what I'm telling you is

  178. I'm telling you that you have dominion over this

  179. storm. That this storm doesn't have dominion

  180. over you. You have dominion because you belong

  181. to me. And I'm showing the disciples that as

  182. I'm walking over the storm, so you can walk on

  183. top of the storm too. Can I hear an amen right

  184. now? If you're suffering from depression. You

  185. can walk over depression. If you're suffering

  186. from financial lack. And abandonment. And all

  187. kinds of stuff that you've gone through. I'm

  188. here to tell you. Jesus is your model. Jesus

  189. is your guide. Jesus is supposed to look for.

  190. And as he walked on water. He's saying I want

  191. you to walk on the storm too. Why is that? And

  192. it is as if. He's not even paying attention to

  193. what's under the water causing all the chaos

  194. and disturbance. As if he's not disturbed. We're

  195. so easily disturbed by what we don't understand.

  196. Let me tell you what happens here. It's very

  197. interesting. Because what Jesus is doing is Jesus...

  198. Showing me that I don't have to be conditioned

  199. by the conditions. Are you hearing me? Jesus

  200. showing me he's demonstrating his dominion over

  201. the disorder. Listen to this. Verse 26. When

  202. the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they

  203. were terrified. It's a ghost, they said, and

  204. cried out in fear. I'm not talking about the

  205. unsaved. I'm talking, the disciples say, oh,

  206. he's a ghost, and cried out in fear. Well, let

  207. me tell you what happened. Last October, I was...

  208. I was visiting my grandchildren. All five of

  209. my grandchildren are now in Florida. I praise

  210. God they're in one place going to one church

  211. because my son and my daughter and my son -in

  212. -law are all on staff at one church. And I'm

  213. so thankful for that because I don't have to

  214. go all over the country chasing my grandkids.

  215. Just go to one place. You know what I'm saying?

  216. And so I'm very, very thankful. And so we took

  217. Monday through Friday off to not to speak so

  218. I can go and visit them. And so on Tuesday morning,

  219. I get a phone call from a friend of mine in Santiago,

  220. Chile. I've known him for a long time. He has

  221. a church of about 800 in the capital of Chile.

  222. He calls me up and he says, Prophet John, I'm

  223. sorry to bother you, but is there any way you

  224. could come to Chile? I said, I'd love to come

  225. to Chile. When? He goes, today. Right? I said,

  226. what do you mean today? I thought you were doing

  227. a conference. He said, yeah, but one of the speakers

  228. had something happen in his family. He can't

  229. make it. Is there any way you could come today?

  230. And then, of course, I'm thinking, oh, man, I

  231. took this time off to be with my grandchildren,

  232. and I don't want to disappoint them. But under

  233. the circumstances, I said, yeah, I'll do it.

  234. So he said, I'll get your ticket. I'll send you

  235. a text with your ticket, and you'll fly out this

  236. afternoon. So this is like 7 a .m. in the morning.

  237. I go in the room. We're staying at my other home

  238. where my kids live in Florida. I start packing.

  239. I end up waking my wife up, and she says, what

  240. are you doing, and where are you going? I said,

  241. I'm going to Chile. She says, I'm not. And I'm

  242. staying here. So, you know, I get on the plane

  243. to go to Chile. And, of course, we're on the

  244. phone a couple times with each other a day. And

  245. then she looks that, you know, because we were

  246. going to leave on that Saturday, and I'm in Chile,

  247. and we were going to go other places. And she

  248. said, honey, I looked on our calendar, and we're

  249. going to be on the plane four times in seven

  250. days. I'm just going to stay with the grandkids.

  251. I said, okay. So that night after church, and

  252. you know how on your phone you'll get a memory

  253. picture will come up. And a picture came up of

  254. my wife's beautiful face looking all elegant

  255. and stylish and beautiful and Polynesian as she

  256. does. And I don't post on social media. So I

  257. decided to post her picture on social media and

  258. put a caption, missing my wife today. You know,

  259. that's what I posted. So I wish I never would

  260. have posted, Pastor Darren. Because when I posted

  261. that. All of a sudden, Meliana saw it. She didn't

  262. say anything. She didn't think anything. All

  263. of a sudden, threads started coming up, and half

  264. the people in the thread thought my wife was

  265. dead. Or sick. Come on. Dead or sick. And I realized

  266. something about human nature with these disciples,

  267. ladies and gentlemen, that our default, I thought,

  268. what we're saying about this church is called

  269. faith assembly. It's not called fear assembly.

  270. It's called faith assembly, right? I like that

  271. name. Come on, I like that. We're assembled under

  272. the canopy of faith. Come on. Are you hearing

  273. me? But what I saw is that, Pastor Darren, that

  274. the disciples' default and the human default

  275. is not faith. It's fear. And many of these people

  276. that posted were pastors and leaders and worship

  277. leaders across the country. And I was completely

  278. shocked. So then I had to rewrite it. Come on.

  279. But no, she's not dead. And she's not as sick.

  280. That was the last time I posted on Facebook.

  281. Really, I'm serious, you know. And so I'm done

  282. with social media. Because I don't want people

  283. thinking my wife's dead, you know. She's very

  284. alive. But what is that? That's the response

  285. of fear. Oh, there's no way anybody can walk

  286. on this storm. There's nobody that anybody that

  287. can walk on water. It has to be a ghost. And

  288. these were church people. These were not worldly

  289. demonic people. They were people that saw miracles.

  290. Because God wants to do something in us and you

  291. and I where we all of a sudden realize that faith

  292. has to become our default. Come on. You know

  293. what? I'm just going to say something. You know,

  294. we don't understand. You know, Kathy, I had my

  295. best friend pass away in front of me on February

  296. 8th. We don't understand why that happens. But

  297. God wants my response. Not to be fear. God wants

  298. my response to walk in faith. Come on. I don't

  299. understand everything. Come on. I don't understand

  300. why a man of God goes and leaves a widow. I do

  301. not understand that. My 64 -year -old best friend,

  302. pastor friend, on Sunday morning falls dead,

  303. has a massive heart attack right in front of

  304. me on February 8th. I don't understand that.

  305. And then I go to the hospital, and for two hours,

  306. I pray that he would be raised from the dead.

  307. And then nothing happened. Come on. I don't understand

  308. that. I had faith for him to rise from the dead,

  309. and nothing happened. But guess what? I am not

  310. going to allow fear to control me. You follow

  311. what I'm saying? The pastor's wife, come on,

  312. the pastor's wife was just at our house. We were

  313. there also on Monday and Tuesday because I was

  314. only preaching an hour away. We spent the whole

  315. day. On Monday night, she led prayer meeting,

  316. and on Wednesday night, she preached after losing

  317. her husband. Come on. Because she understood

  318. something. I've got to walk upon this. I've got

  319. to walk upon this storm. I can't let the storm

  320. walk over me. Can I hear an amen right now? It's

  321. a ghost, they said. And cried out in fear. Now

  322. they're really in trouble, Meliana. They're in

  323. a storm and ghosts are coming at them. They assumed

  324. he was a ghost. Isn't it interesting that our

  325. assumptions can promote our fear? But Jesus immediately

  326. said to them, take courage in his eye. Don't

  327. be afraid. Everybody say, take courage in his

  328. eye. Sit in, take courage in his eye. Why does

  329. he say that? Well, obviously, the New Testament

  330. is written in Greek and the Old Testament written

  331. in Hebrew, but there's kind of two, it's different

  332. language, but they mean the same. When Moses

  333. met the Lord on the burning bush, he asked who

  334. he was, and God said, I am that I am. Well, that

  335. word in Hebrew and the same what Jesus said in

  336. this text, take courage. It's me saying, it's

  337. the I am talking to you. It's the I am walking

  338. on your storm. Because notice where he's walking

  339. toward. He's not walking across the lake. He's

  340. walking towards his church. Oh, come on. Because

  341. he wants his church to get across the lake. He

  342. wants faith assembly to get across the lake.

  343. He wants faith assembly to accomplish everything

  344. that he called them to do. And guess what? I'm

  345. walking towards you. I'm not walking past you.

  346. Even though you're in fear, I'm not going to

  347. walk past you. I'm not leaving you. I'm not forsaking

  348. you. I'm walking directly to you. Can I hear

  349. an amen right now? I'm not bypassing you. I'm

  350. not giving up on you even though you're in that

  351. state. Take courage in his eye. If I've got a

  352. word for this house, take courage. Take courage

  353. in his eye. Now, you're in the middle of the

  354. storm. Notice he has never said anything about

  355. calming the storm. He hasn't even acknowledged

  356. the storm. What he's saying is take courage.

  357. Because your fear will kill you before I get

  358. there. Now, think about this. When he says this,

  359. take courage of your desire, don't be afraid.

  360. Because you've got to understand that it's directed

  361. toward every single person in the boat, every

  362. disciple in the boat. And you have to begin to

  363. think like, okay, what would you do if God said,

  364. take courage of your desire? But sometimes, We

  365. can be so engulfed in the storm. We can so internalize

  366. the chaos that we don't even hear the words of

  367. Jesus. So I've got to ask myself this question.

  368. What was different about Peter? Because that

  369. word, take courage, it is I, was directed to

  370. everybody. They all heard it. But they heard

  371. it, but it didn't mean anything because the fear

  372. had so gripped their soul and gripped their mind

  373. that it didn't enter in and didn't produce faith.

  374. Unless this were true about Peter. Because when

  375. Peter heard it, this is exactly, this is what

  376. separated Peter from the rest of the disciples.

  377. When Jesus said, take courage in his eye, He

  378. got a vision. He got a vision. He got a vision

  379. that could it be that if he's out there, I could

  380. go out there too. Oh, come on. Could it be he's

  381. trying to tell me that there's no courage in

  382. this boat that I'm stuck in right now, that the

  383. courage is actually being with his presence?

  384. Because let me just tell you right now, I would

  385. rather be with Jesus, even if he's out on the

  386. water, than be in the boat when Jesus is not

  387. in the boat. Come on. You follow what I'm saying,

  388. ladies and gentlemen? Because what was different

  389. about Peter? What was his mindset? What was he

  390. thinking? What was going through his mind? Because

  391. he doesn't have a reference point. He doesn't

  392. understand everything. But he heard, it is I.

  393. It is I. Take courage. It is I. Let me just tell

  394. you something when you really get that in your

  395. spirit. All of a sudden, you can go through hell.

  396. You can go through anything. But all of a sudden,

  397. something rises up within you and say, guess

  398. what? Storm, you're not controlling me. Cancer,

  399. you're not lording over me. Sickness, disease,

  400. and death, you're not telling me what to do.

  401. I'm telling you what to do. Because I just heard

  402. my Lord say, take courage. It is I. Come on.

  403. Come on. It is the I am. Because if the I am

  404. is not over your life, then you are over your

  405. life. Come on. So notice this. So if something

  406. happens, a vision happens, I can go out there.

  407. That's why Peter said, Lord, if it's you, tell

  408. me to come on the water. Why? Because again,

  409. God doesn't want to be the only person walking

  410. on water. Because he's showing us, I have dominion

  411. over the chaos. But not only do I want to walk

  412. on the storm, I want you to walk on the storm.

  413. Notice that he doesn't even tell Peter, if you'll

  414. step out, I'll calm the storm. That he invites

  415. Jesus, he invites Peter, excuse me, he invites

  416. Peter out of the boat. Come on. Even when his

  417. life is a mess. Oh, man. And because sometimes

  418. we're waiting for the perfect moment, the right

  419. extent to step out in faith. Come on. That is

  420. not faith. Faith steps out when it looks crazy.

  421. when it doesn't make sense, when you don't even

  422. have enough, but all of a sudden you heard God

  423. say, come. Lord, if it's you, cause me to come

  424. upon the water. Because Peter had the proper

  425. theological understanding that faith is not an

  426. intellectual concept. It must be walked out.

  427. For instance, I'll give you an example. Here's

  428. a perfect example. You know why people don't

  429. tithe? Because they don't have faith. Yeah. Because

  430. if they had faith, they would tithe because they

  431. would believe that if they tithe, they give 10

  432. % of their income, that God would open the floodgates

  433. of heaven and pour out a blessing that they can't

  434. contain. Right? That he would provide for them.

  435. But because of the fear of not having enough,

  436. It puts them in a boat where now money is their

  437. God instead of Jesus being their God. And so

  438. they don't see God, I mean, because he reigns

  439. on the just and the unjust because of his grace.

  440. However, they don't see God's intervention in

  441. their life like they could be because they haven't

  442. given up. their financial stronghold and have

  443. them say, God, I'm going to be committed to giving

  444. to you. And when I'm giving to you, this is what's

  445. going to happen. You're going to bless me. Come

  446. on. They don't believe that. And so, for instance,

  447. when Peter said, if it's you, bid me to walk

  448. on the water, or let me walk on the water, he

  449. was actually saying, I don't want to just know

  450. you intellectually. That faith is not an intellectual

  451. concept. Faith must be walked out. Or it's not

  452. faith. It must be walked out in my actions. So,

  453. when God said, come, everybody say, come. That

  454. invitation wasn't just for Peter. That invitation

  455. was for everybody in the boat. Now, think about

  456. this. Think about this in this room. What would

  457. it look like if everybody at Faith Assembly was

  458. walking on water? Or just one person was walking

  459. on water? What would glorify God the most? Come

  460. on. It would glorify God the most when everybody

  461. stepped out of the boat and said, I'm walking

  462. out on the water. Come on. We don't need this

  463. boat. We've got Jesus. Come on. So, when God

  464. said, come, Eliana, this is what Peter does.

  465. Peter then got out of the boat, walked on the

  466. water, and came toward Jesus. Why is this important?

  467. Because this is exactly what Jesus is trying

  468. to teach Peter. Peter, you know I have dominion

  469. over everything. But I'm giving you dominion

  470. over everything too. I'm giving you dominion.

  471. over what's under your feet. Come on. Because

  472. sometimes in Pentecostal churches, we don't speak

  473. enough about dominion theology. God said this

  474. in Genesis 1, 26. I've created man in my image

  475. and likeness and gave them dominion. Come on.

  476. That means sickness shouldn't have dominion over

  477. you. Doubt shouldn't have dominion over you.

  478. Depression shouldn't have dominion over you.

  479. Divorce and brokenness and fractured soul should

  480. not have dominion over you. You should have dominion

  481. over it. Come on. I understand that we are emotionally.

  482. I understand that things happen. When you lose

  483. your spouse, it would be easy to get depressed.

  484. You know what? You know what? We had the widow

  485. over at our house. She's sitting at the counter.

  486. We're fellowshipping. And she says, I haven't

  487. got rid of Pastor Steve's clothes yet. And I

  488. mean, I can't imagine that. I can't imagine getting

  489. over, getting rid of Melianas' clothes. But I

  490. do know this. When God invited Peter and God

  491. invited the disciples, he says, I'm going to

  492. even have dominion over what's hard. I'm going

  493. to give you dominion over what you don't understand.

  494. Come on. I'm going to give you dominion what

  495. you don't have a reference point for. I'm going

  496. to give you dominion. But then this question

  497. has been stirring on the inside of me. I've been

  498. wrestling with it inside my soul. Because he's

  499. walking on earth. He's coming toward Jesus. But

  500. verse 30 is what I've been struggling with. But

  501. listen to this. But when he saw the wind. Everybody

  502. say, but when? He saw the wind. Wait a minute.

  503. Wait a minute. I've never seen wind. I've seen

  504. the results of wind. I've felt the wind, but

  505. I've never seen the wind. Have you? Has anybody

  506. in the room ever seen wind? We live in Illinois.

  507. Come on, maybe we can felt the wind. I'm so thankful

  508. it was warmer today. Come on, most of the time

  509. I come here, I'm freezing. It doesn't matter

  510. where I come from, I'm always cold in Illinois.

  511. And I'm just waiting for it to thaw out, and

  512. it never does. Come on. But what do you mean,

  513. saw the wind? What does that mean? What is that

  514. implying? Because see, when he saw what he was

  515. supposed to have dominion over it, the Bible

  516. says when he saw the wind, he began to sink.

  517. You know what's causing people to sink? They're

  518. paying attention too much to the wind. And then

  519. I have to ask myself this question. This is the

  520. question. What is under the water that is pulling

  521. Peter down? What's under the water that's pulling

  522. you down? Pulling me down. Pulling my precious

  523. wife down. What's under the water that's attempting

  524. to pull Kathy down? Because there's something

  525. under the water that's trying to pull us down.

  526. Oh, come on. And see, nothing was going to pull

  527. Peter down as long as his focus was on Jesus.

  528. Are you hearing me? As long as he looked toward

  529. Jesus, but when he saw the wind. Can I tell you

  530. something? That's why I believe that the media,

  531. oh, I got to tell you this. I'm not going to

  532. preach it, but I want you to hear this. You know,

  533. Meliana has English as her second language. And

  534. sometimes, you know, when we drive back to the

  535. hotel or back home and I'll come up and I will

  536. critique her because I want her to critique me.

  537. And sometimes she has a way of saying opposite

  538. or not using her S's and R's and all of that.

  539. So, you know, I talk to her on the way home and

  540. sometimes I pick my times when I do. Sometimes

  541. I don't because I want to sleep that night. Come

  542. on, you know what I'm saying? And so, but when

  543. she's in a good mood, when she asked me, honey,

  544. what could I have said? We will critique each

  545. other to be better public speakers. And so the

  546. other night, Melianna reads this scripture out

  547. of 1 Chronicles 10, 13, which says, and Saul

  548. died because he was unfaithful. He did not heed

  549. the word of the Lord. And he even went and saw

  550. a medium for guidance. So instead of saying medium,

  551. Meliana says media. That's what comes out. And

  552. see, I'm sitting in the front row. I go, oh,

  553. Jesus, come on. So I run up to the platform.

  554. I actually show her the text on my iPad so she

  555. can read it, right? I'm kind of like, I'll tell

  556. you this. You know? And so then I go back and

  557. I sit down. And you know, when you're a public

  558. speaker, it's really advisable to understand

  559. what words mean and what they don't mean. Right?

  560. So ladies and gentlemen, you want to hear something

  561. crazy? I look up the root word for medium. And

  562. the root word for medium is media. I'm sorry.

  563. I'm sorry if I said that. I blew your bubble.

  564. But the root word for media is medium. They're

  565. root words. Come on. My wife in her broken English

  566. was correct. Come on. You heard what I'm saying.

  567. And she didn't even know it, you know, under

  568. the Holy Ghost. You know what I'm saying? And

  569. this is the problem with America. We're looking

  570. at the wind. The wind is determining the narrative.

  571. Instead of this man, Jesus, who's saying, I'm

  572. going to give you authority and dominion over

  573. the narrative. And certainly he begins to sink.

  574. And when he begins to sink, ladies and gentlemen,

  575. Lord, save me. Because there was something pulling

  576. him down. I call it Leviathan. I don't have time

  577. to go into that. But that's why Israel didn't

  578. have a navy. That's why Israel was afraid, deadly

  579. afraid of water because they believed that the

  580. demon, the serpent, the snake, however you want

  581. to call that, lived in the water and caused the

  582. chaos. Can I tell you something right now, ladies

  583. and gentlemen? There's some people that God is

  584. going to raise up in this church. They're going

  585. to have dominion over Leviathan. They're not

  586. going to let Leviathan pull them down. They're

  587. walking on top of the water. Can I hear an amen

  588. right now? Now, I'm so thankful because all of

  589. us aren't just thankful. This is why when pastor

  590. told us to get up and come to the front, I'm

  591. going to come to the front because you know why

  592. I'm coming to the front? Because I'm so thankful

  593. that God pulled me out of chaos. When I was sinking,

  594. he pulled me out. When I was lost, he found me.

  595. When I was blind, he put eyes on me. When I was

  596. lame, I got to walk. When I was depressed, he

  597. gave me joy. Come on. When I was distraught,

  598. he gave me a purpose. He gave me meaning. Are

  599. you hearing what I'm saying, ladies and gentlemen?

  600. That's why I can't help but praise God. Because

  601. he didn't have to pull me out of the chaos. He

  602. didn't have to pull me out of jail. He didn't

  603. have to pull me out of my dark pit. He didn't

  604. have to pull me out. When I said, Lord, save

  605. me, that's exactly what he did. I'm not going

  606. to let you get swallowed by the enemy. I'm going

  607. to pull you out. And when he pulls him out, why

  608. are you out? Peter, you have little faith. I

  609. said, Jesus. Why do you call Peter of little

  610. faith? He just walked on water. I mean, we don't

  611. know how long, at least for a few seconds, you

  612. know. That's pretty cool. But the Bible said,

  613. in verse 32 of Matthew 14, that when they climbed

  614. into the boat, the wind died down. I'm thinking,

  615. Jesus, why didn't you cause the wind to die down

  616. in the beginning? It would have been a lot easier.

  617. Why do you have to wait till you come in the

  618. boat to have the wind die down? You can walk

  619. on the water once you stop the wind. I mean,

  620. are you into drama, Jesus? Do you like drama?

  621. It seems like you like drama all the time. You

  622. know why he waited for the wind to die down?

  623. Because he wanted to show me. Are you going to

  624. walk on the water even when the storm and the

  625. wind is all around you? Or are you going to only

  626. serve me when the wind dies down? Think about

  627. this. Think about this. The wind dies down, very

  628. profound. Then those who are in the boat worshiped

  629. him, saying, truly you are the son of God. A

  630. few moments, a few seconds ago, he said he was

  631. a ghost. Let me ask you a question. Is Jesus

  632. the ghost or is he the son of God? Now think

  633. about this. These are the disciples. It's interesting

  634. that they worship him when the wind dies down.

  635. That's not worship. You're worshiping circumstances.

  636. I don't want to worship God just because he calms

  637. the wind. I want to worship God when it's windy.

  638. I want to still worship. Kathy didn't have to

  639. come to church today. She just lost her husband.

  640. You know what I'm going to do? She didn't have

  641. to come. Family's here. All of these kinds of

  642. things. But you know what she's saying? She's

  643. saying, guess what? I'm still going to worship

  644. God in the middle of my wind. I'm not going to

  645. just wait for everything to get calm and everything

  646. to settle down before I worship God. I'm going

  647. to worship God in the midst of the storm. Do

  648. I got anybody at Faith Assembly that is going

  649. to worship God in the middle? I'm not going to

  650. wait until everything's perfect. Look at it.

  651. They said, truly, you are the son of God. Why

  652. didn't you tell us? Why wasn't he the son of

  653. God when he was walking on water? So now that

  654. he calms the wind, then he solves my problems,

  655. that now he's the son of God. No, he's the son

  656. of God whether he heals my body. He's the son

  657. of God whether he does anything for me. He's

  658. still the son of God. Because I'm going to tell

  659. you right now, God healed Meliana. But if God

  660. did not heal Meliana, he's still the son of God.

  661. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Are you hearing

  662. what I'm saying? He's still the son of God. I

  663. don't question what he does or what he doesn't

  664. do. That's not my job. My job is to acknowledge

  665. you are the king of kings and lord of lords.

  666. Whether you do anything for my life or am I just

  667. coming to get free food. He is the son of God.

  668. Truly you are the son of God. Why didn't you

  669. say that? What would have happened if he would

  670. have said that when they were buffeted by the

  671. waves and the wind? You're the son of God. But

  672. here's what happened. Write this down, please.

  673. Write this down. Because there's a sequence that's

  674. happening here. Very clear sequence. They get

  675. a revelation of Jesus. Not only do they get a

  676. revelation of Jesus, but they recognize Jesus.

  677. So recognition. Revelation. Recognition. Worship.

  678. Say that with me. Revelation. Recognition. Worship.

  679. Now I can tell you, I'm not trying to pick on

  680. you, I'm just telling you the truth. They're

  681. all up here worshiping God. This young lady that

  682. was worshiping God has such a beautiful voice.

  683. We could feel the weight of the presence today.

  684. But yet there were people who were oblivious.

  685. They weren't entering in. Why is that? I'll tell

  686. you why it is. They don't have a revelation of

  687. Him. And they don't recognize Him. Because if

  688. you had a revelation of Him and you recognize

  689. Him, you would worship Him. You worship that.

  690. We worship this. This is in our face. All the

  691. time. All the time. Right? What does that tell

  692. me? I don't want that to be my place of worship.

  693. I want the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to

  694. be. See, I want to come to church so I can get

  695. a revelation of him. So I can recognize him more

  696. clearly. So I can worship him now. This is exactly

  697. what happens. I've got to move on. There's a

  698. lot into this. But as soon as they get Meliana,

  699. as soon as they get a revelation, as soon as

  700. they recognize him, as soon as they worship him,

  701. they're on the other side. Oh, come on. Are you

  702. hearing what I'm saying? Because how many want

  703. this church to get to the other side? And it's

  704. not just one couple. It's not just Alexandria.

  705. It's every single person in this room. Come on.

  706. I mean, faith. Come on. I'm sorry, that was your

  707. sister. You forgive me. But anyhow, when they

  708. get to the other side, very interesting, and

  709. I've got a couple more verses. And this is what

  710. they said. When they crossed over, verse 34,

  711. and landed in Janzarat. See, that may not mean

  712. anything to you, but it means a lot. Because

  713. this is what it means. Because the last time

  714. they were there, it was called the Gadarenes.

  715. And then Jesus put his foot down, and, you know,

  716. a demon that didn't have any clothes on came

  717. running at them. Now, ladies and gentlemen, can

  718. you imagine having a greeter that's demon -possessed?

  719. Come on. And doesn't wear any clothes. Come on.

  720. I'm not coming to that church. Come on, are you

  721. hearing what I'm saying? That runs at them. They

  722. landed and this guy comes running out of the

  723. tomb, stark naked, demon possessed, screaming.

  724. And one translation says that when the disciples

  725. saw him, he turned around and ran back to the

  726. boat. I would too. Come on. They went from worshiping

  727. to being back into fear. Come on, act quick.

  728. Take your call. There's a lot into that, and

  729. I don't have time after another sermon. But,

  730. you know, Jesus heals him, completely delivers

  731. him. I mean, he just completely delivers him.

  732. He's standing there all by himself. Where's my

  733. associate? Where's my worship team? They all

  734. left me. I'll have to deal with this by myself.

  735. Come on. I've had that happen to me a few times.

  736. A guy levitated. A guy levitated in Idaho. And

  737. the whole half the church took off. Right at

  738. the altar. Like right here. Like picture this.

  739. You're all here. And this guy comes up. I prophesy.

  740. He falls out and levitates. And the whole church

  741. comes back up. I thought you read the gospel.

  742. What happened? Obviously, you probably thought

  743. it was science fiction. Come on, I guess. You

  744. know, it's real, right? But anyway, anyway, anyway,

  745. he cast the devil out of the sky, goes into the

  746. pigs, and he's sitting there in his right mind

  747. fully clothed. I love that. Everybody say fully

  748. clothed. You know what that means? That Jesus

  749. didn't just deliver him. Jesus fully empowered

  750. him. Not just put clothes on him, but actually

  751. clothed him and empowered him to do the will

  752. of God. So it's interesting that when the pig

  753. farmers went and told everybody, they all came

  754. out to see this guy, fully clothed, sitting in

  755. his right mind, and the Bible says they were

  756. afraid. Everybody say, afraid! I'm thinking in

  757. my mind, what kind of people are these? That

  758. they are, they weren't afraid when he was demon

  759. possessed. Why he was, why he was running around

  760. naked. They were kind of used to it. You know

  761. why? Because we've normalized evil. And there

  762. are people sitting in this room right now and

  763. people online watching. You know what? This is

  764. what's happened. We've become more familiar with

  765. the demonic than the power of God. We're more

  766. familiar with the chaos than we are God walking

  767. on water. Are you hearing what I'm saying, ladies

  768. and gentlemen? And we have to change the narrative.

  769. This is why I have a microphone. This is why

  770. I believe God called me, because I want to be

  771. more familiar of freedom than I am chaos. I want

  772. to be more familiar with healing than I am disease.

  773. Come on, come on, church. And then, not only

  774. that, because they were afraid, they asked him

  775. to leave. Jesus just leaves. Let me guess. How

  776. many churches in Lincoln, you'd say? 35 churches?

  777. How many of the 35 churches have asked Jesus

  778. to leave? Now, I don't mind if you leave. Pastor

  779. would. But I don't want Jesus to leave. Because

  780. if Jesus leaves, we're really in trouble. Let's

  781. kick the presence of God out and keep the demons.

  782. I mean deacons. No, I didn't say that. I didn't

  783. say that. And keep the demons. Which tells me

  784. something. They saw Jesus as a threat. Not as

  785. a deliverer. Because they were more familiar

  786. with chaos than they were the power of God. That's

  787. why the media are mediums. Are you hearing me?

  788. Because you will not hear this. You're not going

  789. to hear this, but I don't mind saying it. I don't

  790. have no mind saying it because, listen, I believe

  791. that God's raised the church up at this hour

  792. to speak the truth. Come on. And we cannot water

  793. the truth down in order to peace people who don't

  794. want Jesus around. And that's why, you know,

  795. that is why I tell you that Illinois needs a

  796. move of God. The state of Illinois needs an awakening.

  797. And Chicago needs a revival. Springfield needs

  798. a revival. We need a move of God where this state

  799. becomes more familiar with the power of God than

  800. they do the power of the enemy. Otherwise, they'll

  801. kick God out. Come on. Your own governor said

  802. this during COVID. We need to close the church

  803. down for four years. He said that out of his

  804. mouth. What does that tell me? You know what?

  805. If the church was operating in power, nobody

  806. could ever say that. Don't blame the governor.

  807. He's not saved. We can look at the church because

  808. we're more familiar with chaos than we are the

  809. power of God. Why don't you leave? I'm the guy.

  810. I mean, he's sitting there clothed fully in his

  811. right mind. His life is back. His life's been

  812. restored. I want to go with you, man. Who wouldn't?

  813. And besides, They're kicking you out. Don't leave

  814. me here. I mean, who wants to stay in a church

  815. where they kick Jesus out? You know they kicked

  816. him out. Churches kicked him out. When they say

  817. that God doesn't heal, God doesn't raise the

  818. dead, God doesn't redeem, God doesn't speak.

  819. They kicked him out. We can't, we can't. Let

  820. me tell you something. When they kick him out,

  821. what do they have? All they have is religion.

  822. There's no life. I'm not saying people are bad

  823. people, but guess what? They're then open to

  824. demonic counsel. I don't want to stay here. You

  825. know what Jesus tells them? No. You stay here

  826. and you go tell everybody what God has done for

  827. you. Because sometimes, because we can sit here

  828. and soak in the presence of God under this atmosphere

  829. and this worship team. But sometimes God wants

  830. our obedience as we go out of these four walls

  831. and tell everybody what God's done for us. Come

  832. on. That's more of an act of worship than sitting

  833. down, listening to good music. Come on. And so

  834. now they're back in that region. They're back

  835. in that region. And the reason why I believe

  836. that that storm that they were in, that Jesus

  837. walked on water, is the enemy did not want the

  838. church, didn't want the disciples to get to the

  839. other side because the enemy doesn't want to

  840. see how effective your labor was. Because sometimes

  841. in the middle of the storm, there's a tangible

  842. thing. I'm not making a difference. Nobody's

  843. getting healed. Nobody's getting touched. I'm

  844. in this blue storm. What is my life worth? Come

  845. on, where's my purpose? Where's my meaning? And

  846. the enemy wants to keep you blind to the impact

  847. that you have given somebody else. And so when

  848. they get to the other side, there's an impact

  849. that happens because of this one man's testimony.

  850. Listen to this. And when the men of that place

  851. recognize Jesus, Meliana, everybody say recognize

  852. Jesus. It's interesting Jesus is walking on the

  853. water to his disciples. He's a ghost. But these

  854. people, they recognize him as soon as he shows

  855. up. How do they recognize Jesus? By that man's

  856. testimony. Oh, come on. They sent word to all

  857. the surrounding country. People brought all their

  858. sick to him. And they begged him to let the sick

  859. just touch the edge of his cloak. And all who

  860. touched it were healed. Everybody say all that

  861. touched it were healed. Last November, I'm going

  862. to close right now. I'd like the praise team

  863. to come up to the platform. Last November, my

  864. wife and I, right before Thanksgiving, Sunday

  865. before Thanksgiving, had the privilege to speak

  866. in London, England. We spoke at a church there

  867. near Wembley Stadium. After that, we got on a

  868. plane and flew to the island of Malta. And the

  869. reason why we flew to the island of Malta, we

  870. were in England, it's very inexpensive when you

  871. get into Europe to fly to other places around

  872. Europe. Because of a number of years ago, I had

  873. preached a message out of the book of Acts about

  874. Paul being shipwrecked in Malta. And when he

  875. landed on that island, a snake comes out of the

  876. fire, bites him. And a poisonous snake, he doesn't

  877. swell. He shakes it off, keeps right on doing.

  878. The people falsely assume that because the snake

  879. came out and bit him, he must be a murderer.

  880. And so after they sit there and wait, he doesn't

  881. swell up. Nothing happens. He just continues

  882. to go about what he's doing, gathering wood.

  883. And at that moment, what begins to take place

  884. is he then, they deem him to be a god. And so

  885. now he's got some supernatural power. And even

  886. though their theology was messed up, it gave

  887. him the opportunity to start praying for people.

  888. And he starts praying for people. And the Bible

  889. does say, everybody on the island that were sick

  890. were healed. I wanted to go there. I wanted to

  891. go there. You know why? Because that's not just

  892. a historical story. That scripture that I just

  893. read to you in Matthew 14, it's not just something

  894. that happened in the ministry of Jesus and something

  895. here historical. I want everybody in Lincoln

  896. healed. And let me just tell you there's an anointing.

  897. There's a healing anointing in this church. There's

  898. an anointing for people to get healed. I want

  899. to see our brother's blind eye open. Come on.

  900. Don't you want to see that? Don't you want to

  901. see that? But ladies and gentlemen there's something

  902. I have to understand something. The enemy is

  903. trying to buffet us so we won't believe. The

  904. enemy sends storms so our focus will be on the

  905. wind instead of having dominion over sickness

  906. disease. And so we don't actually take on the

  907. inheritance or don't spend the inheritance that

  908. we've been given by the cross. Can I say, I'm

  909. going to say this. When I was sitting in D .C.,

  910. we were there on a Wednesday night, all day on

  911. Thursday, and then we left on Friday. We had

  912. four meals. One was with the president, the other

  913. was with different people and dignitaries from

  914. all over the world. Had people sitting at my

  915. table that I, I said, Lord, what am I doing here?

  916. And he said, oh, you're, You're here, John, to

  917. prophesy over them. You're here to give them

  918. the word of the Lord. I said, okay, God, that's

  919. what I'll do. I didn't have to get invited. I

  920. didn't have to get invited. There are great voices

  921. around the country. I felt honored. I want to

  922. see this nation get on the other side. I want

  923. to see evil destroyed. Come on, I want this nation

  924. to get healed. Come on. You know, people need

  925. to get healed in Washington, D .C. too. I think

  926. the president needs to get healed after hearing

  927. him. Meliana likes him. I tolerate him. He was

  928. supposed to speak 20 minutes. He spoke an hour

  929. and 17 minutes, you know. And I don't know what

  930. he said. Come on, I'm just kidding. He just rattled

  931. on. But then all of a sudden he said something

  932. that everybody stood up. Because on May 17th

  933. of next ethnic month on at the Washington Mall

  934. there in DC They're going to dedicate the United

  935. States of America as one nation under God the

  936. God Under God one nation under God No president

  937. has ever done You don't have to like him. Sometimes

  938. I see says stuff. I said, oh Jesus help him.

  939. I mean doesn't he have a speech therapist? Come

  940. on Isn't there somebody that writes this? Nobody

  941. does that. It's Donald Trump. And I have to tell

  942. you this. When he said that, I said, oh God,

  943. I'm so thankful to be alive right now. Because

  944. I want to see in my lifetime one nation, what

  945. a nation looks like when it's under God. What

  946. a nation looks like when it's under God. Not

  947. under the demonic, not under evil, not under

  948. unrighteousness, but under God. What happens

  949. when a nation is under God? That is why we have

  950. to walk on top of the chaos. Oh, come on. I'm

  951. telling you. I'm telling you, if we don't walk

  952. upon the chaos right now, the chaos will walk

  953. over us. Lift your hands to Jesus all over the

  954. house. Father, we thank you for your word. It's

  955. a lamp unto our feet. And it's a light upon our

  956. path. I thank you for your sons and your daughters.

  957. And I thank you for who they are and what they

  958. do. And I thank you for giving them dominion

  959. even right now.
