  1. Hi. This is Dave Olson.

  2. I'm the senior leader of Hartman church located in Ankeny Iowa.

  3. I hope the following message, challenges and courage's and

  4. ultimately changes you thanks for joining us.

  5. This is July 4th weekend. And so man, I tell you what it,

  6. I love our nation. And so I just wrestling with

  7. what to preach on because we are technically in a series.

  8. So you got to find a way to adjust.

  9. Justify getting off track. You know, I'm pulling it in but

  10. I want to talk about this morning, I want to talk about

  11. praying for our nation. I want to, I want us to

  12. understand the responsibility that we have.

  13. I believe that as Believers we have, we all have a general

  14. responsibility, but I would propose to you that as heart,

  15. Landers that. We have a specific

  16. responsibilities that God has called this church specifically

  17. to stand in the gap for this nation.

  18. The nations of the earth and there is a there is an

  19. intercessors mandate on this church to contend for the

  20. purposes of this nation. So I want to, I want to hit face

  21. on this thing. That says that patriotism is at

  22. best a distraction and at worst idolatry because there's people

  23. that will tell you that, you know, patriotism is simply, you

  24. want to Define patriotism. It means a love for your country

  25. and affection for your particular country.

  26. And people will say Well, we're supposed to love all people, and

  27. that's true. And we're supposed to love all

  28. countries, and that's true. God is a global God.

  29. He did. He has the nation's in his heart

  30. and King, Jesus will not be satisfied.

  31. Until every tribe. And tongue has heard, and

  32. there's worship in his Endeavor under every tongue of his name.

  33. And so, God is a global God. He desires that every nation, be

  34. presented, the gospel and every nation be won by him scriptures.

  35. Clear psalm for the Nations are his the world is his However,

  36. God gives us certain things to Steward.

  37. I'm supposed to love all families, but I got a favorite

  38. one. I love all families and I want

  39. all children to be fed, but I've got responsibilities for certain

  40. ones. And scripture says, I'm worse

  41. than an Infidel, if I don't fulfill that responsibility.

  42. Matter of fact in the gospels, there was a time where Jesus

  43. rebuked the Pharisees because they what they've done they

  44. called it Corbin. They said, what was supposed to

  45. go to my parents? I dedicate I devote to God.

  46. Therefore I'm relieved of that responsibility and for you to

  47. say that distraction that to contend for the nation that on

  48. which you were to Citizen the place where you live to say,

  49. That is a distraction from Devotion.

  50. To God, is a form of what Jesus rebuked him for.

  51. What I'm saying is this Jesus rebuked the Pharisees because

  52. they would say, the, the law said they had responsibilities

  53. to their parents but they said, well I'm going to give that to

  54. God. I'm going to devote that to God

  55. and that relieves me of my responsibility to my parents and

  56. the Lord said that is a false teaching.

  57. That they still had an obligation to care for their

  58. own. Paul said that God has chosen

  59. the times and the places in which men should live now we've

  60. touched on this before, but this is a very, very important

  61. principle that two of the parameters of your calling is

  62. the location in which you live and the generation in which you

  63. live, Matthew chapter 11 matter of fact.

    Matthew 11 chapter mention

  64. Let's turn there. I want you to see this for

  65. yourself. So, you know I'm not making it

  66. up. Matthew Chapter 11 This is a

    Matthew 11 chapter mention

  67. very interesting thing, I heard the Lord speak this to me one

  68. day up. In the balcony before service, I

  69. was praying up there and I had never heard anybody say this and

  70. it just so took me back. And he then he took me to

  71. Matthew 11 and showed me that indeed, this is what the word

  72. teaches. Look at Matthew 11, Verse 20,

    Matthew 11:20

  73. Jesus is speaking of Jesus, then he began to denounce the cities

  74. where most of his mighty Works had been done because they did

  75. not repent, woe to you chorazin, woe to you bethsaida for.

  76. If the mighty Works done in, you had been done in Tyre or sidon,

  77. they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and Ashes, but

  78. I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment

  79. for tyre and sidon, then, for you, And for and you Capernaum,

  80. will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to

  81. Hades for. If the mighty Works done in you

  82. had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day but

  83. I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment

  84. for the land of Sodom than for you.

  85. Now, what's fascinating to me is that the Lord is addressing and

  86. the population of a city. He's not talking to an

  87. individual here. He there's a corporate rebuked

  88. because there's corporate responsibility.

  89. In other words, as an occupant of that City, they bore

  90. responsibility for which they would give an account.

  91. Let me say it again, as an occupant of that City that

  92. rejected Jesus, they bore a responsibility for, which they

  93. would give an account. So their location was part of

  94. their stewardship. You understand what I'm saying?

  95. The fact that they lived their gave them a level of

  96. responsibility. There should have been somebody

  97. in that City that would have stood up and say Jesus, I'm

  98. staking my claim, I receive you, I bless your ministry.

  99. I'm getting the I believe and stake the claim for that entire

  100. city, God is looking for representatives in cities and

  101. nations of the earth so that he can, he can bless those cities

  102. and nations of the earth. It's called an intercessor.

  103. If you remember Abraham When God said he was going to destroy

  104. Sodom, but the the city that Jesus is speaking of here,

  105. Abraham stood in the Gap and said, what, if you find this

  106. many Believers and this many and this many he was he was dealing

  107. with the principle. The very real principle that we

  108. are Salt and Light and God will withhold, his hand of judgment

  109. for the sake of a small amount of righteous people in a city or

  110. a nation. So here we have the location,

  111. our city. You have a stewardship of the

  112. city, or the nation in which you live, you bear a greater

  113. responsibility for what happens in the United States of America,

  114. as someone who lives here, then you do for what happens in the

  115. Ukraine. Now, some of you may have

  116. Ukrainian blood, you may be a Ukrainian Citizen and you, there

  117. is a level of responsibility that you retain.

  118. But I'm talking about those of us right now, who live in this

  119. nation and especially as Citizens, there's a level of

  120. authority and there's a level of responsibility that we have.

  121. So when Jesus said, God chose the times and places are when

  122. Paul said that he said, God chosen chooses the times and

  123. places in which men should live, it wasn't just some kind of

  124. arbitrary, kind of an interesting fact.

  125. It wasn't like trivia. Hey isn't this interesting?

  126. There was a reason behind his saying that he was saying that

  127. God appointed you to a place and a generation, a location and a

  128. generation and you will give an account for both now.

  129. So we see in this one here. Jesus is.

  130. Thing that he will call to account those people who lived

  131. in those cities. Now, look at later on.

  132. And chapter 12. Look at verse 41 of chapter 12.

  133. The men of Nineveh Nineveh will rise up at the Judgment with

  134. this generation and condemn it. So now he's talking about a

  135. generation a people who lived within a season of time a unique

  136. season of time in human history and God said that the people of

  137. the, the generation of Nineveh would rise up in witness against

  138. the people who lived in that unique period of time in which

  139. Jesus lived, because they had, there was a unique opportunity

  140. that they allowed to pass them by And I am here to tell you

  141. this morning, that this is not an anomaly.

  142. This is true of every generation.

  143. There are purposes. Two seasons.

  144. We talked about it, I don't know.

  145. It was probably about seven years ago.

  146. Now, I was the Lord spoke to me one day and he said, I want you

  147. to do a series on wisdom, but I don't want you to pull out your

  148. old material, you know, sometimes the Lord has to tell

  149. the preacher that because you do it so you can lean on what you

  150. used to know. Bill Johnson has this wonderful

  151. phrase what you know can keep you from what you need to know.

  152. That's a sobering thought. Because if you think the little,

  153. you know, is the whole, then you won't be over open to the rest.

  154. And so the Lord dealt with me and I began to ask him about

  155. wisdom, and he took us on a journey.

  156. And one of the things he really began to talk to me about was

  157. wisdom and time. That time.

  158. From, from a Divine perspective, is not the way you, and I think

  159. of it. You and I think of time as

  160. minutes on a clock and days on a calendar, but to God time and

  161. you can see this throughout scripture from the Divine

  162. perspective in the economy of Heaven, time is a period

  163. pregnant with purpose, it's launched by fresh Revelation and

  164. it's consummated by the Fulfillment of the purpose of

  165. that revelation. Let me say it again that when

  166. God launches a new time or season and Daniel, Daniel

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  167. chapter 2 is very clear. God sets the times and the

  168. seasons, God changes the times and the seasons.

  169. And one of the primary ways in which God, shifts Humanity or a

  170. church, there are big enormous blocks of seasons and times.

  171. That are Global and historical in nature.

  172. There's also that's also true of us as individuals in your life.

  173. There are times and Seasons that God has for your life.

  174. It's true of churches times and seasons and we don't have time

  175. to get, I'm getting pulled into something.

  176. I didn't intend to talk about. So let me just make a couple

  177. comments about Daniel chapter 2, okay?

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  178. Because the Lord has been speaking to me about this for

  179. three weeks now. In prayer, Daniel chapter 2,

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  180. it's very clear. Daniel, praise out this prayer

  181. and he prays out. He's thanking God because God

  182. had given him a Divine download about what Nebuchadnezzar's

  183. dream is, and Nebuchadnezzar had made a neat.

  184. That all the wise men would be killed because they could not

  185. only could they not interpret his dream.

  186. They first couldn't tell him what the dream was that they

  187. were supposed to interpret Nebuchadnezzar wasn't gambling

  188. that this he could be manipulated, he said you're not

  189. only going to tell me what my dream meant.

  190. You're going to tell me what my dream was.

  191. I'm not going to tell you what it was.

  192. And if you can't tell me, I'll kill you because you claim to be

  193. these diviners these wise men, these Magi and you're a fraud

  194. and they're like, there's not a man on Earth.

  195. That can do this and their knees were shaking and I he said

  196. you're just you're waiting for the time to change.

  197. That's what he said. It's an interesting phrase.

  198. What he was insinuating, his you're waiting for my time on

  199. the throne to be up so that you can manipulate the next guy.

  200. You think you're hoping you can Outlast me so that you can start

  201. manipulating the next guy because you know I won't be

  202. manipulated So Daniel is in his second year of its in the second

  203. year of Nebuchadnezzar's rain that this happens and Daniel and

  204. the three Hebrew children, Shadrach Meshach and Abednego,

  205. or make the bed, and shake the bed.

  206. And into bed, you do you tell your kids?

  207. But he says these four, they were they were captured by

  208. Nebuchadnezzar and it says they were inducted into a three-year

  209. training as wise men. But chapter 2 says in the second

  210. year of Nebuchadnezzar's rain. So at best they were only

  211. sophomores. Okay.

  212. They were in the second year of their training and Daniel gets

  213. word, he's dead. He's going to get killed, they

  214. come to pick him up and to kill him and he says, wait, wait,

  215. wait, why are we in such a rush? Let's not be Hasty here.

  216. He said there is a God in heaven and so he says give me three

  217. days. I'm going to fast and pray and

  218. God is going to give me the dream and then he tells his

  219. buddies no more even worse. Trouble and they go on this fast

  220. and the Lord gives them a download.

  221. He gives him a dream of the dream and then interprets it for

  222. him. And as a response to this divine

  223. intervention, Daniel goes into this praising this worship and

  224. this prayer. And this is what he says.

  225. God, you change the times and the seasons you promote Kings,

  226. and you remove Kings, you give wisdom to the wise and knowledge

  227. to those with understanding three.

  228. Things he says God changes the times and Seasons times are

  229. smaller increments than these major transitions called seasons

  230. in the Hebrew. I want to say the word was Odin.

  231. I don't remember. I'd have to look again but then

  232. it's a small time as a smaller measurement and then the seasons

  233. are major shifts in human history and let me just pause

  234. here. And propose to you, we be in

  235. one, okay? We are in the shifting of a

  236. season in human history and when we get on the other side of this

  237. tumultuous shift, this hinge moment in human history.

  238. Nothing will look the same Financial systems will look

  239. different, the boundary lines of Nations will look different.

  240. There's going to be the rising and falling of Kings in this

  241. season. Because the second thing,

  242. Daniel, Says, is he removes Kings?

  243. And he promotes Kings. What he's saying is this that

  244. from God's perspective time is divided.

  245. Redemptive history is divided. Among the reign of men.

  246. It's where it says of David David served his generation and

  247. he was no more, and he was laid to rest with his father's.

  248. And then it went from being the time of the davidic rain into

  249. the solemn Reign, Solomon, reigned You can see this in

  250. person. Second Samuel, first and second

  251. Kings, and first and second chronicles, it's Redemptive

  252. history divided. Among the reins of men.

  253. What does that mean? See, it says of David David

  254. discerned that he was King, think, didn't take a lot of

  255. discernment. They poured the oil on your head

  256. and then put a crown and you sat on a throne, a lot of

  257. discernment. You got to read the rest of us.

  258. It says he discerned. He was King for the purpose of

  259. Israel. In other words, David leaned in,

  260. and ask God, for the reason for his anointing.

  261. We just let that one land for a moment.

  262. You better know the reason for your anointing.

  263. Because whether you understand it or not, you will give an

  264. account account for whether you fulfill it or not.

  265. And so you better press in and say God what was the purpose of

  266. my life? Because there's a reason God

  267. puts you on planet Earth and you will give an answer for that

  268. assignment whether you know what it is or not, it's on you to

  269. figure it out. That's why Paul said in

  270. Ephesians 5, he said don't be a fool.

  271. No, the will of the Lord, he said time is short know, the

  272. will of the Lord, he said, you are a fool.

  273. If you want walk through life, not knowing the purpose for your

  274. life. You are in danger of wasting

  275. what you have and then you'll come before heaven have to give

  276. an account for what you didn't do.

  277. God is more willing to show you than you want to know.

  278. But no, the purpose of your life.

  279. So God changes the times and Seasons.

  280. How does he do it? He moves people in and out.

  281. You can see this in churches. They'll be a leader in a church.

  282. And when that person's time is over there is a shift in the

  283. calling of that church. When there's a new leader and

  284. that's not always the senior leader, there are times and

  285. Seasons where influential people are in churches, and the Lord

  286. will move people around and it Dawns a new season in a church.

  287. When new people show up and there's an anointing on him,

  288. it'll thrust a church into a new Direction into a new season.

  289. If we're hearing the voice of the lord, we can cooperate with

  290. them and fulfill the corporate purpose of that church.

  291. So God changes the times and Seasons, he does it by removing

  292. Kings, and promoting Kings. And then he does this, he gives

  293. wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

  294. What he's talking about is Daniel's role in this whole

  295. thing. Nebuchadnezzar's role was that

  296. God had just appointed him. And so God inserted a prophetic

  297. Daniel at the Inception of Nebuchadnezzar's rule because

  298. God had plans for this Pagan King to rise him in power to

  299. shape human history. The nature of the, the necessity

  300. rather of the prophetic in times of transition is really

  301. important for us to understand. Because God has his plans in the

  302. enemy has his matter of fact. It says, okay, that's Daniel

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  303. chapter 2. You know what?

  304. Daniel chapter 7 says it says the enemy attempts to manipulate

    Daniel 7 chapter mention

  305. the times. So in those moments of

  306. transition things are fragile, things can be taken off track,

  307. so God has his times, and the enemy has his.

  308. And so it's incumbent upon us to step in.

  309. And in cooperation, with the Lord, hear the word of the Lord,

  310. and fulfill the purpose of the Lord.

  311. Because what it does, is it will stretch the times.

  312. In God's economy. Time is not a date on a

  313. calendar. It's the Fulfillment of a

  314. purpose. That is why an eleven-day

  315. Journey out of the promised land can become 40 Years of

  316. wandering. They had to fulfill their

  317. purpose. That's why it says of Jesus in

  318. the fullness of time. God sent forth his son, born of

  319. a woman born under the law. God is wanting to bring the last

  320. season to fruition, so he can launch us into the next season.

  321. And one of the ways, the enemy manipulates the times is keeping

  322. his God's children, fulfilling their calling.

  323. And it can seize the gears and keep it can prolong the season.

  324. And so we need to yield ourselves to the Lord and

  325. fulfill Our Calling. I don't we don't have time to go

  326. my goodness. This is very, very important.

  327. There have been people who have been prematurely pushed off

  328. their post. And we need to step in and pray

  329. that thing through because there are the purposes of God in God's

  330. economy, the time has to come to its fullness in order to lunch

  331. launches into the next season. And that is what Daniel was

  332. talking about. In that passage the true that

  333. the same is true of your life. There are people who move from

  334. season to season, they get saved.

  335. And in five years there well down the road in their walk with

  336. God going from season to season. From glory to glory and then

  337. there's others who go to Glory. And they stay on the same level

  338. of Glory till they literally go to Glory.

  339. Because they never learned to cooperate with God and fulfill

  340. the purpose for their life. God wants to take you from glory

  341. to glory. He wants to move you through

  342. times and seasons in your life. But again, the times and seasons

  343. of your life, are not dates on a calendar, it's the Fulfillment

  344. of the purpose of that season. So, we've got to discern.

  345. Lord. What is the purpose for this?

  346. What are the lessons? You're trying to teach me.

  347. Their isn't the old-timers? Used to say, don't take laps

  348. around Mount Sinai. Okay, I don't want to spend 40

  349. years walking around Mount. Nigh.

  350. There's an old song. Don't take another lap around

  351. Mount Sinai till you learn your lesson.

  352. I don't remember the rest of it but I can hear it in my it was

  353. kind of a One of those songs, you know, I'm not sure what that

  354. was. It just came over me.

  355. Lily, it was kind of a he ha song but it had a good message

  356. okay? Yes yes it's why I'm not up here

  357. with a mic in my hand during worship.

  358. God told me, I'm on the worship team.

  359. He just wants me down there when it happens.

  360. Okay. But this thing at this is a

  361. crucial thing. And two of the parameters of

  362. your purpose, to of the parameters of your calling are

  363. the generation of the location in which you live.

  364. God has purposes for every generation.

  365. There are things. God is moving.

  366. His story along history is his story, and he's moving things

  367. along and you have a part to play.

  368. Don't Paul said, let no man, steal thy crown.

  369. Don't have God. Don't Make God assign someone

  370. else to your assignment. What are you called to do?

  371. Fulfill that calling. The the enemy loves to get us to

  372. either neglect, are calling out of a sense of unworthiness or

  373. Des get us distracted. So we don't do it.

  374. Sometimes the way we're distracted and we get our eyes

  375. on somebody else's calling. And we think if I don't do what

  376. they're doing, I'm not--that's I'm really not doing something.

  377. If you are called to be a garbage man, That's a good

  378. living. Okay, that I'm not I don't mean

  379. that as a denigration of a form of employment.

  380. If you're called to be a garbage man and you become a pastor, you

  381. will give an answer for Disobedience to God.

  382. Because you need to fulfill the purpose of your calling because

  383. there's people you would face on your garbage route.

  384. You're never going to face in the pulpit.

  385. And God put it on you. So this is a very important

  386. phrase idea. So it's our generation and our

  387. location and God has purposes for every generation purposes.

  388. For every time and season in our life, as individuals in our

  389. corporate Life as a church and you in the life of your family,

  390. there are seasons. And if we are quick about it, we

  391. can learn those lessons and move on or we can stretch em out.

  392. It's up to us. So, part of the assignment on

  393. your life, is the fact that you live where you do. and part of

  394. that is that you live in the United States of America, And

  395. you live here now. During this tremendously

  396. tumultuous time. You need to ask yourself.

  397. God, what were you thinking? Not in the way I just said it,

  398. but believe me. I've asked it both ways.

  399. But ask God, what? What's on your heart?

  400. Why am I here during this hour of human history, God saw fit,

  401. he perfectly formed you and equipped you for this

  402. challenging season in human history. and I'm telling you,

  403. That God placed you here in this nation, to contend for his

  404. purposes. I love this nation, I love a lot

  405. of things about it. I love that we are afforded the

  406. moat, the greatest prosperity, and the greatest freedom of Any

  407. Nation in all of human history. And, you know what?

  408. I pray that in the future, there's other nations pass this

  409. up. I don't want to go back, but I

  410. don't have a problem with them passing this up and the that

  411. they disciple us. I don't love this nation because

  412. I think we're more worthy because I don't I don't think

  413. that we're any more special to God's heart, but I think the

  414. purposes of God for this nation are that crucial and we need to

  415. contend for that. We are the Guardians de Steward

  416. of his purposes for this nation. Those of you in this room, there

  417. are a number of you who are immigrants that have come to

  418. this nation, realize that God sent you here for a reason that

  419. is an amazing thing. Most of us can discount.

  420. It will always just born. Here, it was a, you know, how

  421. was a twinkle in my mom's eye one night and you know, here I

  422. am. That'll take a minute.

  423. But so you know here we are some of you.

  424. God moved, you across the world to come here.

  425. Yes, Hallelujah. And you know what that needs?

  426. You need to feel that that is that's a holy calling Unholy.

  427. Entrustment God puts you in this nation.

  428. Such for such a time as this. We have a responsibility.

  429. Turn with me to Exodus 32. I've Been In this passage since

  430. 4 a.m. this morning, I just love this passage.

  431. Because it's the story of a man who saves a nation through

  432. prayer. God willing in the days to come.

  433. We're going to go into a series on how we got where we're at.

  434. I'm talking about the mess, we're in.

  435. How many of you hear people on TV or read things that people

  436. say? And you're wondering what in the

  437. world are these people thinking? Where are they?

  438. They have they lost their minds. There is a logic by which they

  439. are navigating life that you and I need to understand if we're to

  440. engage these people, we need to understand where they're coming

  441. from. And it doesn't do us any good to

  442. just sit back and laugh and say they're losing their mind or get

  443. mad and yell at the TV. Throw your slipper, you know,

  444. I've often said my poor family, I don't watch TV, I talk to TV

  445. so I just kind of stay away from the news.

  446. I do my news by reading because I can't handle the TV.

  447. I'm just I know my weaknesses. Okay.

  448. But we need to understand and God willing in the end soon.

  449. In the coming days will go through a series on this.

  450. We are this close to losing this nation.

  451. We would have never thought that there are people in our Halls of

  452. Congress. Literally voting along the lines

  453. of those. We were defending ourselves from

  454. four decades in the Cold War, There is a demonic seduction

  455. going on in our nation and we need to understand the

  456. philosophical underpinnings to that thing.

  457. But it's going to take more than us understanding.

  458. It's going to take much more than us.

  459. Just being able to engage people and talk.

  460. We need heaven to sweep in, we need God to withhold, his hand

  461. of judgment. Because our biggest danger is

  462. not Russia or North Korea or China or any other Nation.

  463. Our biggest concern needs to be heaven.

  464. How are we with heaven? And this is a story of a nation

  465. that was on the eve of its own destruction, and didn't even

  466. realize it, but there was one godly man who was in the pocket

  467. of intercession one, man saved a nation.

  468. Want you to think about that. One man who found favor with

  469. God. Leveraged that favor to save a

  470. nation. It's an amazing thing.

  471. Look at Exodus 32 verse 1, when when people saw that Moses

    Exodus 32:1

  472. delayed to come down from the mountain of people gathered

  473. themselves together to Aaron and said up, well up make us Gods

  474. who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who

  475. brought us up out of the land of Egypt.

  476. We do not know what has become of him because Moses had been on

  477. the mountain for like 40 Days by this time.

  478. And so they just went to Aaron said, hey we you know, he walked

  479. up into that. All during cloud, with peals of

  480. thunder and lightning. And, and man, he's not come

  481. back, we think he's gone. We're not sure.

  482. They acted. Like, they didn't even know this

  483. guy anymore, so they said make us new God.

  484. So Aaron said to them, take off the rings of gold that are in

  485. your ears and the ears of your wives, your son's, your

  486. daughters, and bring them to me. So, all the people took off the

  487. rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron

  488. and he received for the gold from their hand and fashion it,

  489. and carving tool made a golden calf and then said, these are

  490. your God's o Israel. Who Brought you up out of the

  491. land of Egypt. When Aaron saw this, he built an

  492. altar before and Aaron made a proclamation and said tomorrow

  493. shall be a feast for the Lord. And they rose up early the next

  494. day, offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

  495. In the people sat down to eat and drink and Rose up to play.

  496. They got into Pagan revelry as the old way of saying it, and

  497. the Lord said to Moses go down for your people.

  498. Whom you brought out of Egypt have Up to themselves.

  499. Isn't that interesting? That's that's exactly what the

  500. Lord said to him. Moses your people who you

  501. brought out God is kind of washing his hands of them later

  502. on the next chapter, got Moses say God your people who you

  503. brought out That's an interesting Dynamic I would

  504. propose to you. That was very very important in

  505. this interchange between Moses and God.

  506. Because what God was doing his God was provoking that

  507. investment that Moses had already made Listen to what he

  508. goes on to say. They have turned aside quickly

  509. out of the way that I've commanded them.

  510. They have made for themselves at golden calf and have worshipped

  511. in sacrifice to it. And said, these are your God's o

  512. Israel brought you up out of the land of Egypt and the Lord said

  513. to Moses, I have seen this people and behold it is a

  514. stiff-necked people. Now, therefore, let me alone

  515. that my wrath may not may burn hot against them and I may

  516. consume them in order that I may make a great nation out of you.

  517. That that passage just makes me shudder.

  518. Behind what God was saying. There was something he was

  519. trying to provoke out of the heart of Moses.

  520. He said, those people your people, you brought him out and

  521. they have they have made me angry and my wrath is going to

  522. burn hot against him. Leave me alone, so that my wrath

  523. may burn. And then I will make a nation

  524. out of you. You see Moses had found favor

  525. with God. This was a man who had great

  526. favor. He touched things in.

  527. God. That are just I'm blowing to me.

  528. He would God would speak to him as a man speaks to a friend face

  529. to face so much. So that Moses would come down

  530. and his flesh, his skin absorbs glory and he would come down

  531. like a glow worm. And then Moses he would speak to

  532. them and it says, then he would put a veil over his face so that

  533. they would not see that. It was fading.

  534. See a lot of people believe that Moses wore a veil because the

  535. people couldn't handle it. That's not what it was that glow

  536. was his credibility day. What if I showed up on Sunday

  537. morning and I said, hey I've got a real hard message for you and

  538. I showed you my face and that'll get you know you'd be a little

  539. more inclined to listen to Pastor Dave that morning.

  540. He would cover it up so they wouldn't see that it was fading.

  541. Because he wanted to minister from the glory.

  542. So he would go get some Glory talk to the people, cover his

  543. face back up, and go get some more before it faded.

  544. That's good preaching. That's good policy.

  545. We need preachers. Who stay in the glory?

  546. Amen. Speak from the glory.

  547. Pray for your preachers. Amen.

  548. Hallelujah. But God told him, he said I'm

  549. going to make a great nation out of you.

  550. You see? The Lord was testing, Moses.

  551. Heart. Moses.

  552. Will you tolerate the destruction of the people whose

  553. genetic code you share? Will you tolerate the

  554. destruction of the nation that you've invested so dearly?

  555. And and I'm going to entice you I'm going to I'm going to give

  556. you an opportunity. I'll make a nation out of you

  557. Moses. Now, some people say that God

  558. was speaking anthropomorphic Lee, that's just a big way of

  559. saying he was trying to relate with Moses, so we were didn't

  560. really mean it. He was just trying to engage

  561. with Moses. God is not capable of

  562. insincerity. There is no shadow of turning

  563. its in him. If he said it, he meant it.

  564. He would have, he would have made another Nation out of

  565. Moses. But you know what, it would have

  566. done. It would have pushed the

  567. purposes of God back decades, if not Generations, because he

  568. would have had to produce an entire nation out of Moses.

  569. But there was something in Moses that was owning this thing.

  570. God said, they're your people and Moses said, yes, they are

  571. and he stepped in and he owned this thing.

  572. You see. Intercession can only happen

  573. when we own this thing. It's not some disconnected way.

  574. I can't just say, well, God, I hope you move in mind on my

  575. nation because I know I'm going to be okay.

  576. And you know what, I know I am. God's going to take care of me

  577. and my family. God's going to take the worst

  578. case scenario. I just go to heaven sooner.

  579. I can't lose but there's a lot of people who can, if I don't

  580. carry my heart right before the Lord.

  581. And the Moses said, Lord, you can't let this happen.

  582. Lord, he begins to appeal to the Lord on their several points in

  583. Moses prayer. That are very important for you

  584. and I to understand you see, Moses owned this thing, he's

  585. saying yes, Lord, they are my people but they're yours as

  586. well. And they kept as long as God had

  587. a man on Earth. That said, yes, they're my

  588. people and God in heaven said, yes, they're my people, this

  589. thing's gonna work, but as soon as God losses, An intercessor on

  590. earth, when there's no one that will say no, they're my people,

  591. then God's got a scrap, his plan and start all over again, and he

  592. would have done it. John Wesley was famous for

  593. saying, God, does everything through prayer and nothing

  594. without it, not because God's, not sovereign, but because he

  595. has chosen to exercise his sovereignty, through his

  596. delegated authority called, man. God delegates his authority to

  597. us and we will give an account whether we fulfill his purposes

  598. or not. And so, again, you and I need to

  599. understand that God chose that you and I would live in this

  600. generation in this location. I believe there's something

  601. highly significant about Iowa. I'm just crazy enough to think

  602. that the fact that we choose the president presidential

  603. candidates. First is prophetic, there's

  604. something about us that we have a say and the removing and the

  605. removing of leaders and the Of leaders, there's something about

  606. our role in intercession that God wants to use.

  607. There's a weight of responsibility we need to carry

  608. and When God says, this is your nation.

  609. This is your state. This is your situation.

  610. There needs to be something that rises up with us within us and

  611. says, yes, Lord, I agree. I'm going to own this thing.

  612. I'm going to pray this thing through.

  613. When God said, leave me alone that my anger May burned, he was

  614. deadly serious. But Moses red in there and

  615. invitation because he understood what God was saying, is that if

  616. I'm not left alone, then I will withhold my wrath.

  617. And Moses inserted himself in there and he cried out for the

  618. children of Israel. Listen to Moses prayer.

  619. This is very significant, but Moses implored the Lord, his God

  620. and said, oh Lord, why does your Rathburn hot against your people

  621. whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power?

  622. In your Mighty hand, isn't that interesting?

  623. God said I'm going to kill the people.

  624. They're your people and you brought him out.

  625. God said Moses said, but God, why are you so angry with these

  626. people, your people that you brought out and they're kind of

  627. expect, you know, giving each other ownership there.

  628. Reminding each other. Why should the Egyptians say

  629. with evil intent? Did he bring them out and kill

  630. them in the mountains and consume them from the face of

  631. the Earth. Turn from your burning anger,

  632. and relent from This Disaster against your people.

  633. So, the first thing Moses does, is he appeals on the basis of

  634. God's character and reputation reputation again among the

  635. nations of the Earth. He's concerned with God's

  636. reputation and he cries that out, not not for the sake of the

  637. people, because the people did not deserve it, but he was

  638. saying God for your namesake among the nations of the earth

  639. Lord, turn from your wrath. And then he says this, remember,

  640. Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants to whom you swore your

  641. own self and said to them, I will multiply your Offspring as

  642. the stars of the sky. He was reminding God.

  643. Of his Covenant with Abraham. There's something about

  644. reminding God of his past promises and prayer.

  645. I'm telling you, it'll move God's heart.

  646. I always think of this illustration, it's not the

  647. greatest one, but it's it's like when I pull out Kathy and eyes

  648. wedding, pictures, Kathy could still fit in the wedding, dress

  649. me, not so much. I never wore a wedding dress, by

  650. the way, but I couldn't fit in the tux either.

  651. I'm like, 50 pounds heavier. And I had, I had color in my

  652. beard and I had two big windshields called glasses.

  653. They're huge glasses back then and there we are standing there.

  654. And I remember Day that I entered into Covenant with this

  655. woman and it stirs my affections.

  656. Once again, the day that I made my vows, it's good for us to

  657. remind ourselves. There's a reason that the Bible

  658. speaks of the wife of your youth, reminding yourself of

  659. When you entered into that Covenant relationship.

  660. And a very similar thing is going on here with Moses.

  661. He's saying, God remember Abraham, remember this man who

  662. found favor with you Lord for the sake of Abraham and then

  663. remember Isaac Lord that he he also secured favor for you with

  664. you and Jacob who secured favor with you and you made promises

  665. to them and he would use that in prayer to move the heart of God

  666. and God loved it. It's what Solomon was doing in

  667. Psalm, 132 where he says, oh Lord, remember David?

  668. And the sufferings he endured, I'm going to remind you my dad

  669. went through. If you look later on in the

  670. passage, it says, oh Lord now remember David make good on your

  671. promise. As you said you'd always have

  672. one of his sons on the throne. This is Solomon.

  673. Speaking, you see what he's doing?

  674. He's leveraging. His dad's favor on his own

  675. behalf. He's saying Lord Me if not for

  676. me for the sake of my dad. Moses is leveraging his favor in

  677. the favor of other Patriarchs to move the house, the heart of God

  678. to preserve an entire nation. Lou, Engel years ago, he wrote a

  679. book, read digging, the wells of Revival, it's a great book.

  680. I would highly recommend it. And in that book, he was talking

  681. about how one time the Lord began to speak to him, about how

  682. he's going to revisit America, because of Jonathan Edwards.

  683. Jonathan Edwards. The who was a colonial

  684. revivalist, a brilliant philosopher, and a very Godly

  685. revivalist. And he was the primary leader of

  686. the first Great Awakening. And God began to speak to who I

  687. will revisit America for the sake of Jonathan Edwards.

  688. And so as he was just processing, as he writes about

  689. that the those principles in that book and he writes about

  690. this episode, he said, so he was invited to speak at a youth

  691. conference that night. So he went and the title of his

  692. message was going to be God is going to save America because

  693. we're the great, great great, great grandkids of Jonathan

  694. Edwards, that was his title. It's hard to fit on a cassette

  695. tape. So, he's sitting on the front

  696. row, cassette tape for you younger.

  697. That was a little plastic thing that you listen to sermons and

  698. music on. Okay, I'll get you can Google

  699. it. So he's sitting on the front

  700. row, just worshiping and getting ready.

  701. Just meditating saying Lord, you know, just use me tonight.

  702. I want to speak to these young people at which time a young

  703. man, sat down next to him and bumped him and said Lou, I got

  704. to share something with you. He said I just found out

  705. Something today, I am the great. Great.

  706. Great. Great grandchild of Jonathan

  707. Edwards. And it was God's Little

  708. prophetic kiss on lose message. I'm telling you, God will honor

  709. the covenants of our forefathers.

  710. It still moves, the heart of God, there are men and women who

  711. gave their life, and intercession and fasting and

  712. sacrifice for the gospel to be established America.

  713. The United States of America is He's a rare experiment in human

  714. history, it is one nation. That was established on biblical

  715. principles. Do you know that in the founding

  716. of our nation early on in our nation's history Congressman

  717. would stand up and Congress and argue the scriptures when they

  718. were legislating one would stand it.

  719. Wait a minute. Wait a minute.

  720. You forgot about Exodus 42. Literally read it weathers.

  721. No 42. Hopefully they didn't said

  722. Exodus 32 they turn to that Nick, they would argue this.

  723. Yeah, but what about Deuteronomy 7 that was a safe one.

  724. Got to go low numbers. Don't go hide.

  725. Birds, when you're speaking publica it.

  726. So they're arguing the scriptures, they based our whole

  727. thing of the three, you know, the judicial branch the

  728. executive branch and legislative branch, that was based on the

  729. Trinity. And that there was a tension of

  730. power between the three branches of government based on the

  731. fallenness of, man because they understood that power corrupts

  732. and absolute power corrupts. Absolutely.

  733. So let's create a tension within the government.

  734. Three unique thing, and all the Earth, and we are a nation of

  735. immigrants. It's a Melting Pot, it's an

  736. amazing thing. And there have been people who

  737. have given their life. So that God would Bless America.

  738. But perhaps what we need to be asking is not God Bless America

  739. but God make us a people who are blessed oil, Lord, make us a

  740. people that you can bless for God is a being of integrity and

  741. he will not violate his own principles and answer prayers

  742. that are contrary to his own nature.

  743. He has to find righteousness. There has to be a remnant of

  744. people that are crying out. And God is looking for

  745. intercessors who are living righteously and have found favor

  746. with God and then we'll get in the secret place and they'll

  747. say, God, I'm not going to leave you alone until you give me a

  748. promise. I remind you of my forefathers.

  749. I remind you of Jonathan Edwards and his prayers.

  750. I remind you of Charles Finney and father, Nash and the Second

  751. Great Awakening and the thought the tens of thousands of really

  752. hundreds of thousands of souls that were Wrapped into the

  753. kingdom in the Second Great Awakening.

  754. Lord, I remind you of these other intercessors down through

  755. our history. Lord, remember their prayers.

  756. They still come before the throne Lord, I add my prayers to

  757. theirs. You have a responsibility for

  758. this tumultuous moment in human history and you have a

  759. responsibility. It is not idolatry and it's not

  760. a distraction to pray for this nation.

  761. In fact, it's your responsibility for which you

  762. will give an account and don't let anybody tell you any

  763. differently, we will give an answer for this moment in human

  764. history in this nation. And there is a strategy of foot

  765. by the enemy to erase our history and to cause us to come

  766. on the side of the accuser and curse this nation.

  767. Do you know that there's there was a large group in the

  768. Democrat Party? That just put out this ad over

  769. the holiday weekend, F, the fourth That is a demonic thing

  770. now that that's not true of every Democrat.

  771. I know I know that many there's many Democrats that love the

  772. Lord but I'm telling you, there is a sweeping spirit that is

  773. trying to undermine this nation. There is a hatred for the

  774. history of this nation. They're rewriting history.

  775. A nation without history is like a person with amnesia.

  776. They don't know who they are. And God is calling us to step in

  777. and cry out for this nation. I'll never forget in 2008.

  778. I was up in Toronto, Canada. And John are not.

  779. We were up there at this celebration up at the Toronto

  780. Airport fellowship and John Wimber got up because it was the

  781. stock market was crashing and things were very tenuous and

  782. John got up and he said and these are people from all over

  783. the world. This is, you know, this wasn't

  784. an American Service, this was there, a lot of, you know,

  785. United States citizens are but people from all over the world

  786. and he said, we need to pray for the u.s. right now.

  787. And he made this statement and I was stunned.

  788. It just really hit me. He said, I don't know about you.

  789. He said, but I wouldn't want to live in a world in which the

  790. United States didn't exist. This is a man from another

  791. country saying this, about us. because he recognized the

  792. preservative of peace that the United States has been Now, we

  793. don't ignore those, we don't ignore the sins and there are

  794. things that we have found out about our nation.

  795. And the last number of years, that'll make your hair stand up.

  796. The more I know, the more I had a conversation with some of my

  797. dear Colombian friends. Last time, I was in Colombia, we

  798. need to pray for Colombia, they just voted in a former farc

  799. guerrillas. The president farc is a

  800. communist terrorist organization.

  801. We're living in a very tumultuous time in human

  802. history. I'm telling you, there is a

  803. battle at the gates for this door to swing.

  804. And if we don't pray this thing through, it'll set the to God.

  805. God will have his will eventually, but the timeline can

  806. be stretched. Depending on our obedience in

  807. our engagement, or it can be compressed.

  808. And I was telling them I said because they were talking about

  809. the corruption in their nation. And I said, I said, you know

  810. there's been a lot of naivety in the United States, definitely me

  811. included. Where I didn't realize how the

  812. level of corruption in the higher echelons of our

  813. government, it's been sobering to me, but I refuse to join the

  814. accuser of the Brethren and curse this nation because God

  815. has a purpose for this nation. I won't ignore the sins, I'll

  816. get under the load because I'm an intercessor.

  817. I will confess like, Daniel my sins and the sins of my I'll

  818. bear them before the throne, but I also refused to curse this

  819. nation. We're going to cry out for it

  820. and ask God to stay his hand. If we refuse to let God Alone,

  821. what seemed like a command to The Outsider to those on the

  822. inside. The one who was intimate with

  823. God, Moses, what sound would have sounded like a command

  824. everybody else? Leave me alone that my anger may

  825. burn. Moses because of his intimacy.

  826. Understood it as an invitation, God left.

  827. A crack in the door. He just told me.

  828. He can only let his Rathburn, if I leave him alone, and Moses dug

  829. his heels in and saved a nation. There is hope for United States

  830. of America. But we can't we can involve our

  831. self and charismatic bravado by just claiming.

  832. It's all it's already done. Early on in our intercession

  833. that we do every Tuesday through Friday here, early on a couple

  834. years ago. One of the first things, the

  835. Lord spoke to me during that season was as a very obscure

  836. verse and a very sobering verse when he said it to me, he said,

  837. one who puts on his armor should not boast his one who takes it

  838. off and it shook me because I knew what he was saying.

  839. It was a king of Israel. Rebuked, a pagan King when he

  840. said he's going to invade. And the Lord was saying, don't

  841. act like this thing is in the bag.

  842. At the outset, there's still a battle to be fought and won.

  843. We're in the middle of a battle for the Legacy and the

  844. perpetuate. The legacy of this nation.

  845. And the purposes of God for this nation, David perceived, he was

  846. made King for Israel, and you need to perceive that you were

  847. brought to the kingdom for such a time as this God's hand is

  848. upon you. So that we will contend for this

  849. nation and this generation. Amen, let's stand Want us to

  850. close. In prayer for this nation.

  851. If you would lift your hands to the Lord.

  852. Father, we thank you. We thank you Lord for the

  853. tremendous Prosperity that we have enjoyed.

  854. As US citizens. Lord, we thank you for the

  855. tremendous Freedom. The unprecedented Freedom that

  856. we've enjoyed. But Lord, we also understand

  857. that the sins of this nation have been grevious.

  858. Lord that we have discipled the nation's in pornography and

  859. other perversion, and it's only ramping up in this.

  860. Our Lord, we understand that our our federal money, our tax money

  861. have been used. To export abortion across the

  862. Earth and Lord we ask your forgiveness God, as your people

  863. Lord as representatives of this nation Lord we don't pick up

  864. stones to cast at them. We say we are sorry.

  865. Lord God we ask for mercy on this nation and Lord I ask that

  866. you would establish a beachhead of intercession in this house.

  867. Around these altars in this sanctuary and the prayer

  868. meetings in the mornings. Lord God find it us a friend

  869. like you found in Moses. Lord we ask preserve this nation

  870. God. We ask it for your namesake.

  871. We are zealous for the purposes. That you've placed within this

  872. nation to be realized Lord, your dream.

  873. The dream that you called the United States of America.

  874. Lord, let it be realized in this hour.

  875. God, visit this nation, send Revival.

  876. Send Revival. Lord, send Revival.

  877. Send Revival. In Jesus name.

  878. Amen. Thanks for listening to our
