  1. Hi, this is Dave Olson. I'm the senior leader of

  2. Heartland Church located in Ankeny, IA.

  3. I hope the following message challenges, encourages and

  4. ultimately changes you. Thanks for joining us.

  5. Turn with me to Daniel Chapter 2.

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  6. Daniel, Chapter 2, the book of Daniel is a fascinating book.

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  7. It's a book of history. It's the story of this young guy

  8. Daniel, who was taken captive. His the country of Israel was

  9. was taken captive and this so he was hauled off into captivity.

  10. He and his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego,

  11. they were castrated and indentured into servitude in a

  12. government position. Not a good situation.

  13. And it, it's so it's, it's a story of these of his

  14. experiences. So it's a book of history, but

  15. it's also a book of prophecy. And that's where most people

  16. look at the book of Daniel because there's these prophetic

  17. words. It's not just a record of his

  18. experiences, but it's a record of dreams and visions that

  19. Daniel receives. And interestingly enough, the

  20. dreams and visions in this book, not all of them are dreams and

  21. visions that Daniel has. Some of them are dreams and

  22. visions given to Pagan kings, and Daniel interprets them.

  23. So it's this fascinating story of this captivity of they're

  24. they and the captivity is the result of God disciplining the

  25. children of God. So now he finds himself in

  26. servitude, but God uses it to push him into a place of

  27. prominence and gives him a platform that he becomes the

  28. counselor. And like the second in command

  29. in three regimes within the Chaldean people.

  30. It's an amazing story. So it's it's both history, it's

  31. prophecy. But here's the thing we often

  32. don't think of. It's also strategy the book of

  33. Daniel is strategy for you and I Daniel was never meant to be an

  34. anomaly A1 off he was He is an example to the rest of us of how

  35. God interacts and you see this all through Scripture that God

  36. will raise up a ruler. Pastor Adam still, he's over

  37. there. He's just pray for him.

  38. He so you've got you've got the king, you've got a ruler that

  39. sits on a governmental throne. And God will often put a

  40. prophetic person next to them, one of his people to be have the

  41. ear of the king. And often God will not put his

  42. person on the throne. He'll put his person next to the

  43. throne because the person that has the ear of the king has the

  44. real power. And so Daniel became this

  45. counsellor. And so we see this this pattern

  46. in the book of Daniel as strategy for you and I.

  47. And So what happens is Daniel is captured within the first year

  48. of Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar is the rising

  49. power in the earth, the Babylonian Kingdom and and

  50. Nebuchadnezzar to this day, Nebuchadnezzar has looked at as

  51. the high watermark of Persia and Babylonian.

  52. I mean, he was he was a force to be contended with a brilliant

  53. man, a brilliant strategist, builder, so forth.

  54. And so as he is rising in prominence, God inserts Daniel,

  55. this man of God, this prophetic intercessor, into his Kingdom,

  56. what looks like tragedy. And it was tragic.

  57. God, even though it was discipline for the other

  58. children of Israel, for Daniel it was promotion.

  59. And God used him not only to fill the destiny on his own

  60. life, but the destiny that he'd given to Israel.

  61. Israel was to be a blessing to all nations.

  62. And Daniel became a tremendous blessing to the nation of

  63. Babylonia and then Persia after that and so forth.

  64. So it's an amazing story full of supernatural encounters.

  65. And Daniel, he's having his own encounters.

  66. These kings are having encounters.

  67. It's crazy. And So what we see in the

  68. opening of this thing, Daniel is, is he's, he's put into a, a

  69. three-year kind of preparation so that he could be one of the,

  70. the magicians or the wise men, one of the counselors to the

  71. king. And he's going to be schooled

  72. and paganism for three years as a child of God.

  73. And so then he would then they would test him to see if he's

  74. going to qualify. And about a year in, what

  75. happens is Nebuchadnezzar, this Pagan king, has an encounter

  76. with God and a dream so that he has this amazing dream and he's

  77. so troubled by it, he's wrestling with this dream.

  78. So finally he calls his wise men in and he says, OK, guys,

  79. listen, I had this dream. It's troubling me.

  80. I know it was from the gods, and I need you to interpret it.

  81. And they said, OK, you know, we'll, we'll do that, Nebby, you

  82. know, just give us the dream and we'll, we'll interpret it for

  83. you. And he said, uh, uh, that ain't

  84. going to happen. He said, I need to know that you

  85. have the proper interpretation. And the way I'm going to know

  86. that is that you tell me what the dream is first.

  87. If God can show you the interpretation, then he can also

  88. show you what the dream was. To which they all said, uh oh.

  89. And they said, no man can do this, that those mysteries

  90. belong to God, who doesn't dwell among men.

  91. And he said, listen, you're trying to buy time and you're

  92. hoping that the times will change.

  93. And that's a key phrase. We're going to get into that

  94. moment if we have time. You're that you're hoping the

  95. times change, but it isn't going to happen.

  96. I will kill you. I'll have you torn limb from

  97. limb if you don't give me the interpretation.

  98. And so things are not going well.

  99. And then the guy who's to carry this out shows up at Daniels

  100. door and informs him, I'm here to kill you because the king has

  101. just declared that all the wise men are going to be killed.

  102. And he said, whoa, whoa, put the brakes on this thing to ask the

  103. king if I can have a little bit of time and then I will give him

  104. the interpretation. He grabs his other brothers, the

  105. three Hebrew guys, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and he

  106. says, guys, listen, let's pray and fast and ask God for

  107. insight. And we don't know how long it

  108. was. It was most likely the very that

  109. very night. And there we pick up the story.

  110. God gives both the dream and its interpretation to Daniel.

  111. He hasn't delivered it to the king yet, but we picked that up

  112. in chapter 2, verse 20. Listen to what it says, Daniel

  113. answered. So this is Daniel's praise and

  114. prayer that's bubbling up within him after he's gotten the

  115. interpretation. Daniel answered and said,

  116. Blessed be the name of God, forever and ever, to whom belong

  117. wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons.

  118. He removes kings and sets up kings.

  119. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have

  120. understanding. He reveals deep and hidden

  121. things. He knows what is in the

  122. darkness, and light dwells with him.

  123. To you, O God, my of my Father's, I give thanks and

  124. praise. For you have given me wisdom and

  125. might, and you have now made known to me what we asked of

  126. you. For you have made known to us

  127. the kings matter. And so Daniel praised this out.

  128. But what I want to focus on is this unique little verse 21.

  129. He says he changes the times and seasons.

  130. He removes kings and he sets up kings.

  131. Then he says he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those

  132. who have understanding. So he changes the times and

  133. seasons and those two phrases changing the times and seasons,

  134. removing kings and set up kings go hand in hand.

  135. He's he's talking about the same dynamic.

  136. Now this phrase of God changing the times is very key and it's

  137. very unique, especially in the book of Daniel.

  138. So much so King Nebuchadnezzar uses that phrase.

  139. I just alluded to it with the wise men.

  140. He said you're hoping the times change.

  141. What he was saying is you're hoping that at the end of my

  142. regime that my regime comes to an end so that you won't have to

  143. experience the sentence I'm I'm I'm going to carry out against

  144. you. And he said isn't going to

  145. happen. You're you're, you're not going

  146. to, you're not going to get out of this thing.

  147. The times changing is a very specific idea and what it's

  148. talking about from the Chaldean point of view and from

  149. Scripture. When you look at the times

  150. changing, it has to do with the reign of men.

  151. That's on a micro scale and a macro scale.

  152. OK, so if you look at first and second Samuel, 1st and 2nd

  153. Kings, and 1st and second Chronicles, all three of those

  154. are examples of God dividing redemptive history by the reign

  155. of men. So much so that it says of

  156. David, he served his forefathers and he served the purposes of

  157. God and then was laid to rest for this forefather fathers.

  158. In other words, there was an assignment on David's life.

  159. He fulfilled it and then the time of David was over.

  160. Then it was the time of Solomon. And so from God's perspective or

  161. 11 perspective that God uses with men is there is the time of

  162. a man or woman. And that is true for you and I

  163. that we Scripture is very clear that God chooses the times and

  164. places in which men should live. God chose your generation and

  165. your location. And in fact, those two elements

  166. are parameters to your calling. They are elements to the call of

  167. God, the assignment on your life.

  168. And you will give an answer for those two things, your

  169. generation and your location. So much so that Jesus isn't like

  170. Matthew 11 and 12. Jesus talks about the the

  171. Nineveh speaking against those of this generation.

  172. So what he alludes to is that when we stand before God at the

  173. end of the age, we are going to be judged according to the

  174. generation in which we lived. I don't fully understand that.

  175. I don't know what that looks like, but I'm just telling you

  176. that's what the word says, that it's going to refer to those of

  177. this generation and everybody that read that all through the

  178. generations that was relevant to them.

  179. So the time of your life is a key point.

  180. And so you've got to know the times so that you must know what

  181. you should do. Even that phrase when it says of

  182. the sons of Isaacar who knew the signs of the time and therefore

  183. knew what they should do, that is an allusion to the reign of

  184. David. It was the end of the reign of

  185. the the House of Saul and the emerging House of David.

  186. And conventional wisdom protocol would have said get behind

  187. Saul's children and bolster up the House of Saul.

  188. But the sons, sons of Isaacar had a prophetic sense.

  189. They knew the signs of of the times and therefore knew what

  190. they should do. And the context of that is they

  191. threw their weight behind David. And so this idea of the times is

  192. connected with callings and people and the slice of of

  193. eternity that you and I have on earth.

  194. And so our generation and our location are very important.

  195. Jesus talks about cities that he that we're going to be judged

  196. according to city. So there is an individual

  197. accountability that we carry for our lives, but there's also a

  198. corporate calling. In the Book of Revelation.

  199. He rebukes churches and calls them into account.

  200. So there's a shared destiny that we have as churches, as cities,

  201. and as generations. And so we need to understand

  202. this because we are going to give an account for the unique

  203. dynamics of our generation and our location.

  204. It says of David this this interesting little verse.

  205. It says that David discerned that he was made king or he was

  206. anointed as king for Israel. Now you can read that thing.

  207. It didn't take a whole lot of discernment.

  208. Figure that one out. Israel puts a crown on his head.

  209. Why does he have to discern it? What it was saying is that David

  210. discerned the purpose of the anointing on his life.

  211. And every one of us need to do that.

  212. You see, God will raise up a man or a woman and it'll have a

  213. mandate and it'll put a mantle on them to fulfill the mandate

  214. for which they will give it an answer.

  215. And every one of us, there is a purpose for our life.

  216. And God custom designed you for this moment in human history.

  217. And you are, you are the steward, the opportunities and

  218. the crises in which you live. Now, why am I talking about

  219. this? I'm talking about this because

  220. of the unique hour in which we live.

  221. When scripture talks about the times in season, those are two

  222. very specific words in Hebrew times.

  223. Let me let me make sure I get this right.

  224. I'm pull up some notes here if I can find them real quick.

  225. So the times and the seasons. This passage says that God

  226. changes times and seasons two different measurements.

  227. It's then goes on to say he removes kings and appoints

  228. kings. These two phrases grant an

  229. understanding of heaven's perspective and strategy in

  230. history. Times and seasons are connected

  231. to the rule of men. So times is so times and

  232. seasons. Times is an indefinite period,

  233. seasons a set time as in an appointment or even specifically

  234. a marker. So the term times is translated

  235. from the Hebrew word idan IDDAN and carries 2 specific

  236. implications #1 it's an indefinite period and #2 it's

  237. connected to a specific situation.

  238. In other words, from God's perspective, when you you begin

  239. to study time and scripture, you and I think of a date on a

  240. calendar, the hands on a clock. But from God's perspective, it

  241. is a period pregnant with purpose, and we can either

  242. expand that period and elongate it, or we can compress it based

  243. on our obedience, so much so that a 11 day journey coming out

  244. of the promised land to Egypt can become 40 years because of

  245. the disobedience of a generation.

  246. And so when you begin to study time, and even in the New

  247. Testament, it's a fascinating thing that God infuses time with

  248. a purpose and then he speaks of this kind of idea in the

  249. fullness of time. What does that mean?

  250. It means that the purpose of that season, that time frame,

  251. that it it these times we don't have time to get into this.

  252. We have time. We don't have time to get into a

  253. study of time. But what it the way God launches

  254. a time is through revelation. And this is important for you

  255. and I to understand because this is true on the macro level or

  256. the micro level and the macro level, the personal level and

  257. the global level, so much so that we talk of ages.

  258. What is the Iron Age? It was the discovery of a, a

  259. revelation about how to use iron.

  260. We have the technological age. Even the secularists look back

  261. at time and divide it among discoveries in, in fresh

  262. revelation and fresh understanding.

  263. And that's a very biblical treatment of that idea.

  264. There are ages, even in our own personal life that God will

  265. begin to deal with you on something.

  266. And you need to be sensitive to this.

  267. When the Lord begins to speak to you about some new truth, you're

  268. reading the Word and all of a sudden something jumps off the

  269. page. Don't be in a hurry to move on

  270. to the next passage. Camp out on that thing and milk

  271. it for all it's worth. Make sure you mind that vein

  272. because what's happening is when God begin, I, I call him

  273. revelatory seasons, that God will begin to speak to you

  274. because it's through knowledge that God will move his purposes

  275. on in human history. That's why way back at the the

  276. Tower of Babel, God said we're going to have to slow this thing

  277. down. We're going to confuse their

  278. language because if they can communicate, nothing will be

  279. impossible for them. That's a sobering statement from

  280. God himself. So God confused their language

  281. to slow down. But God says in Daniel, it says

  282. that at the end of the age, knowledge will increase.

  283. Do you think we're living in that such a time?

  284. We're at the you just ask Suri a question and they'll give you

  285. the answer. It's an amazing time in which to

  286. live. So God will launch a time

  287. through revelation. And the purpose of that season

  288. is the stewardship of that given idea, that truth that, that that

  289. element that God has revealed to you and it's consummated by the

  290. fulfillment of the purpose of that season, or at times the

  291. abortion of that. What do I mean by that?

  292. Jesus came into human history in the fullness of time.

  293. In other words, the previous season came to fruition.

  294. The fullness, the full purpose of that previous season marked

  295. the triggered the, the entry into a new time in the, in the,

  296. the global epic plan of God. But that's true in our own lives

  297. as well. And so when we begin to develop

  298. a sensitivity and understanding of these things, we begin to

  299. realize that there are times where God is building something,

  300. establishing. He'll show us something.

  301. He's trying to establish that truth in your life.

  302. And as you respond with obedience, that becomes

  303. established in your life. And the quicker you get about

  304. understanding that and pursuing that and obeying that thing and

  305. making it a fixture in your life, the quicker you can move

  306. into the next season. Now many of you will remember

  307. the first time we had Dean Briggs here.

  308. He was talking about a good friend of his who had a dream.

  309. And in the dream, this guys a dreamer.

  310. He took him into an encounter. This, this Angel took him them

  311. in this dream into this huge, massive room.

  312. And in the room there was, it was millions of books and he

  313. knew it was the archive room of heaven.

  314. And the Angel said there are two volumes for every human soul.

  315. And he took them over to the, to the, the bookcase.

  316. And he said, why 2 volumes? And he, he tapped a big thick

  317. volume and he said, this is what God offers to bring us into.

  318. And then he pulled a real thin volume and he said this is what

  319. most people enter into now when he said that, I've never been

  320. able to shake the weight of that word.

  321. So we've got to steward our life because at the end of the age we

  322. will give answer for what God has called us to.

  323. There is a purpose for your life.

  324. Paul said there were works prepared in advance that you may

  325. walk in them. Don't remain unemployed.

  326. God has works prepared in advance.

  327. There is a hole in human history that only you can fill and you

  328. will give an answer for how well you fulfilled that purpose.

  329. That's why Paul says don't be a fool.

  330. Know the will of the Lord. He's saying it's foolish to live

  331. haphazardly and not press in and say, God, I want to fulfill the

  332. purpose of my life. And that begins with the Word,

  333. where you get in the Word and you, you begin to do the

  334. revealed things. And then he'll show you the

  335. unrevealed things. But be obedient.

  336. Realize that we have this breath called life, this little breath.

  337. And then we're going to stand before God.

  338. And what we're all going to long to hear is well done, the good

  339. and faithful servant. And so we have this picture.

  340. God says, Daniel says that the Lord showed him.

  341. God changes the times and seasons.

  342. He removes kings and he appoints them.

  343. And that statement was actually the summer summation of the

  344. dream that God had given Nebuchadnezzar because the dream

  345. was of emerging global superpower, so much so that

  346. Daniel was actually a geopolitical prophet.

  347. He moved in and out of the courts of kings.

  348. He was a counselor to kings and he would prophecy about rising

  349. kingdoms in the future. Now we can look back in

  350. retrospect and unpack what those those kingdoms were because we

  351. can look at what Daniel said and it's clear that they show up in

  352. history. We don't have time to get into

  353. that this morning, but we but Daniel was receiving that from

  354. the Lord and that was Daniel's role.

  355. Now that that brings up a very important point.

  356. There are some people, some people I deeply respect and

  357. respect their walk with the Lord and their insight, but they will

  358. tell you that God is disinterested in global

  359. geopolitical, governmental and political affairs that that's

  360. that's God's not interested. That's the Kingdom of men.

  361. All he's interested in is his Kingdom and that stuff is

  362. irrelevant. And they will often quote this

  363. verse where Jesus himself stands before a governmental leader,

  364. the man on the throne in Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate.

  365. And as he's standing there, Jesus says to the governor, my

  366. Kingdom is not of this world. He said.

  367. He said essentially, he said, Pilate, listen, the only reason

  368. you have any authority over me is my father gave it to me.

  369. And you need to understand my Kingdom is not of this world

  370. because if it was, I could call down a legion of angels and wipe

  371. you out. And people will interpret that

  372. as saying, oh, my Kingdom is not of this world.

  373. What that means is I'm not concerned about this stuff down

  374. here. I'm only concerned about the

  375. stuff in heaven. And that's where you and I need

  376. to be eternally minded and not worry about the affairs of men

  377. and governmental affairs and not get pulled into politics and all

  378. that stuff because it's irrelevant.

  379. And I'm here to tell you that is absolutely not what Jesus was

  380. saying because it's a misinterpretation of the word

  381. Kingdom. The word Kingdom is basilia.

  382. The English word literally means King's dominion.

  383. It means authority rule. It shows up.

  384. It's it's more clear in Spanish, right?

  385. Who? Well, Reno, the reign of God,

  386. when he says the Kingdom of God is Reno, it's God's reign.

  387. And that's what he's saying. He's saying my reign is not of

  388. this world. He's not saying it's not about

  389. this world. That's why he came.

  390. What did he teach us to pray? Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be

  391. done on earth as it is in heaven.

  392. He's not saying my interests don't lie here.

  393. He's saying the source of my authority is not derived from

  394. men. I'm not a king because some

  395. human beings decided to put a crown on my head.

  396. My authority, my rule, my the reason I am a king is because my

  397. father in heaven, we preached on it a couple weeks ago.

  398. God has installed his king on mountain Zion and it's King

  399. Jesus. And so Jesus was not abdicating

  400. the earth and saying, ah, you know, don't worry about that.

  401. You'll hear people say things like why rearrange the deck

  402. chairs on the Titanic? This is all going to hell

  403. anyway. We we don't need to worry about

  404. it. And that is absolutely

  405. unbiblical. And Daniel is a perfect

  406. expression of that. Daniel understood that he was to

  407. be the connection between heaven and earth and he was to get

  408. heavens Intel and share it with human kings.

  409. So God's will would be done and God's Kingdom would come.

  410. So Oh my goodness, who? Give me 5 minutes. 510152025 No.

  411. OK, real quick, I want to tell you 2 stories, OK?

  412. It was about probably six years ago now we had started these

  413. morning prayer meetings we're still doing in the morning.

  414. I want to invite you out, especially because of what I'm

  415. talking about right now, because we are living in an hour of

  416. shifting times in season. There is a battle for the

  417. Thrones of the Earth. Mythologists talk about this

  418. concept of unipolar versus multipolar worlds.

  419. And when there's a unipolar world, we see the gospel going

  420. out exponentially fast and we see, we see these superpowers.

  421. We just, we, we're, we're at what some messiologists are

  422. saying is the tail end of what's known as pox Americana or

  423. American peace. We have been the UNI.

  424. We, we have been the unipolar power in the world.

  425. Prior to that it was Pox Britannica, and under Britain

  426. there was this huge missions emphasis.

  427. Under America, Pox Romana, Roman peace was the one superpower,

  428. and the Gospel tends to go out tremendously fast.

  429. When there's one superpower, even if they're opposed to the

  430. gospel, we see with Rome, they end up getting converted.

  431. But when it moves into a multipolar world, when there is

  432. a there, there's a wrestling who's going to gain supremacy in

  433. the earth. And that's what we're seeing

  434. right now. The the power shifting, China,

  435. Russia, you know, and these alliances beginning to emerge,

  436. Iran, you know, Israel, all these things going on.

  437. This is it. It what happens is, is Daniel

  438. got inserted right at the beginning of this emerging

  439. unipolar world called Babylon. And God inserted his prophetic

  440. intercessor Daniel right into that thing so that Daniel could

  441. help shepherd this thing into what God intended.

  442. And an interesting thing is God, there were two different Pagan

  443. kings. One had a dream, one had a dream

  444. and a vision. The other had a vision.

  445. And Daniel was the one to unpack that.

  446. They were dreams and visions from God himself, given to

  447. abject pagans who didn't even believe in the Most High God.

  448. And Daniel was already there to give the interpretation, and

  449. we're living in such an hour right now where there's moving

  450. and shifting of the pieces. And So what God does in those

  451. times is he raises up the Daniel company, the prophetic

  452. intercessors who hear the word of the Lord, understand that

  453. geopolitical element of intercession in the prophetic

  454. and insert themselves. So about six years ago, we're in

  455. prayer one morning, whether in the body or out of the body, I

  456. don't know. Remember when Paul said that?

  457. Well, for me, whether asleep or awake, I don't know.

  458. I don't know if I was dreaming or I had a vision, It was early,

  459. it was like 610. And so I was laying up here,

  460. whether snoring or speaking in tongues, I do not know.

  461. But I was laying here and I went into this picture, this dreamer

  462. vision, and I won't go into all of it, but I saw the Lord took

  463. me over Iowa, showed me some things about our state that

  464. needed to be corrected and then took me under the ground.

  465. And I saw this giant compass that was couldn't, it wasn't

  466. pointed north. And then I, I came out of it and

  467. I thought, I hope I wasn't snoring.

  468. I'm leading this prayer meeting. And I so I stood up and I said,

  469. Lord, was that you? And he asked me where it was

  470. pointing And I won't go into all that, but I called everybody

  471. forward and I said, Hey, I had this, I saw this.

  472. And as I'm sharing this, one of the intercessors said, and I

  473. know what this means. I said, what's going on?

  474. She said, I woke up from a deep sleep just about an hour ago.

  475. And in the in that dream, we were praying over a map of Iowa

  476. and it morphed into a compass. But the needle couldn't find

  477. true North thought, well, we're on to something.

  478. I'm not the brightest bulb in the room, but I'm not the

  479. brightest knife or the sharpest bulb, you know.

  480. So the next day we're praying into this and I'm walking down

  481. the aisle and as I'm walking up, out of my spirit comes these

  482. words. God, you changed the times and

  483. seasons. Now, to be honest, transparent,

  484. I didn't know where that verse was.

  485. Let's tell in the first service people say, pastor, you really

  486. know the word. That's because I preached from

  487. the parts I know. OK, I didn't know where that

  488. was. I knew it was in the Bible, but

  489. I couldn't have told you the chapter verse, but it came up

  490. out of my spirit. God, you changed the times and

  491. seasons and that same person reached up, grabbed my sleeve

  492. and said, pastor, look at what the Lord just show told me to

  493. turn to. I look down and it's Daniel

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  494. chapter 2. He changes the times and

  495. seasons. He promotes kings and removes

  496. them. And so the Lord took us on a

  497. revelatory season and we were praying for the elections.

  498. Now how does all this tie in 12 O 3 turn?

  499. Can we put up there to Psalm chapter 2?

    Psalms 2 chapter mention

  500. We've been talking about Psalm chapter 2.

    Psalms 2 chapter mention

  501. I want to see how these overlay. OK, Psalm chapter 2, verse one

    Psalms 2 chapter mention

  502. through 3. Really verse one and two, Why do

  503. the nation's rage and the people's plot in vain?

  504. The kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take

  505. counsel together. The kings of the earth, the

  506. rulers, the the verse before says the peoples and the

  507. nations. And so David is in one of these

  508. prophetic encounters and he is asking this question.

  509. He's he, he's like, this is crazy.

  510. Why would they try to oppose God?

  511. OK, so I don't have time to elaborate.

  512. Look, look at Psalm 149, verse 5 or verse yeah, verse 5.

    Psalms 149:5

  513. Let the godly exultant glory, let them sing for joy on their

  514. beds. It's talking about those moments

  515. of praise. In Psalm 149, it says that this

  516. happens in the assembly of the Saints.

  517. The Hebrew word translated into Greek is ecclesia.

  518. It's the word we translate church, which is a poor

  519. translation. And there was a conspiracy by

  520. King James to translate it that because he was intimidated by

  521. the real meaning. The real meaning means the

  522. legislative governing body, the church.

  523. So he says let them sing for joy in the beds.

  524. Let the high praise of God be in their throats and A2 edged sword

  525. in your hand. What we were doing that was high

  526. praise if you moments ago and at those moments there's things you

  527. can do business in the spirit and why?

  528. Why do we do this? Look at verse 789 to exit,

  529. execute vengeance on the nation's punishment on the

  530. peoples to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with

  531. fetters of iron. It names those four groups of

  532. people and what it's saying is that God sets kings and rulers

  533. on Thrones, but he sets his prophetic people in place in

  534. that hour of human history to put a a harness in their mouth

  535. and steer them the way that God wants.

  536. Because you and I are called to pray thy Kingdom come, thy will

  537. be done. The danger is is that we think

  538. just because God it it says God changes the times and seasons.

  539. He removes kings and he sets them up.

  540. We think it's in in it's a done deal.

  541. But in reality, Daniel Chapter 7 says the enemy tries to change

    Daniel 7 chapter mention

  542. the times. God has his plan, the enemy has

  543. his and God gives you and I the responsibility of enforcing his

  544. will. The last verse in that 149 says

  545. to execute the judgement written against them.

  546. And you see this dynamic show up in the book of Daniel.

  547. In the Book of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar has a dream, and

  548. this Angel comes to him and says, hey, we're sending you out

  549. to pasture for a while. You've got too big for your

  550. britches. This is a modern translation.

  551. Too big for your britches, Nebuchadnezzar.

  552. So you're going to be sent out to pasture, literally.

  553. You're going to lose your mind and become like a wild beast for

  554. seven years. He doesn't know what it means.

  555. It wasn't that clear, but Daniel gave him the interpretation

  556. because sometime the prophetic churches to rebuke kings, we

  557. keep them in check because at the authority of heaven, we pray

  558. those things in. And so you see God breaking in

  559. and bringing correction. God had set Nebuchadnezzar on

  560. the throne as a Pagan king, but when he began to get outside of

  561. the what the parameters, God would send Daniel in and Daniel

  562. through the prophetic would pull him back in.

  563. And this is the purposes of God for his church.

  564. And let me close with this. It was probably man, I bet it

  565. was 1415 years ago now, long before Donald Trump had, you

  566. know, talked about running for president.

  567. This is well before now you'll see interviews where people say,

  568. hey, well, you're going to run for president.

  569. And you know, he said, well, maybe someday.

  570. And but this was long before he was on anybody's radar.

  571. A little, little Baptist gal that went to church here, got

  572. touched by God and she began to have dreams and visions.

  573. She calls me and and I'm telling you, I could tell you stories,

  574. uncanny things. She would tell me.

  575. I'm like, that's confidential. No one knows that, but the Lord

  576. would show her and she'd say, you know, I know this sounds

  577. weird, but this is what the Lord showed me.

  578. I'd poker face her. I can't verify that not supposed

  579. to know that yet. She calls me one morning.

  580. She said, pastor, I had the weirdest thing happened.

  581. She said I woke up from a dead sleep this morning with Donald

  582. Trump's face before me. He was just suspended in the air

  583. looking at me. Donald Trump.

  584. Now I'm thinking what the what the heck is that about?

  585. I didn't say that, but that's what I poker faced her, but I

  586. was thinking it. But she said this.

  587. She said the Lord told me the House of prayer will Trump

  588. Trump. Isn't that interesting?

  589. Now some people would translate that.

  590. Oh, that means that God's not using him.

  591. I don't take it that way, just like God was using

  592. Nebuchadnezzar. But there were times that God

  593. would step in and the way he did it was through a Daniel, a

  594. prophetic intercessor that would insert himself and bring

  595. correction. God wants to bring, God wants to

  596. raise up a people that will shepherd this hour of human

  597. history through the tumultuous time.

  598. So we come into the next season because ultimately, what's going

  599. to happen in the dream that God gave Nebuchadnezzar, He saw

  600. these rising kingdoms and all, and it was in the form of a

  601. statue. And all of a sudden there was

  602. this stone not hewn by men that was taken out of a mountain that

  603. struck the kingdoms of this world, and they were pulverized

  604. and became dust in the wind. And that stone became a

  605. mountain, and it was Jesus. And until this thing culminates

  606. and the rule and reign of the only one worthy, the only one

  607. that can be really trusted with all the power, there needs to be

  608. a Daniel church that will be praying and hearing from the

  609. Lord and getting Intel and enforcing that stuff in worship,

  610. in prayer that we're catching what the Lord is saying and

  611. we're praying that stuff in. And God will raise up people

  612. that will literally stand in the halls of power and deliver the

  613. word of the Lord. I remember when George W Bush

  614. was running for president. Go ahead and stance, you know,

  615. I'm going to quit. George W Bush was running for

  616. president. I was working for Teen

  617. Challenge. And so we came and did a press

  618. conference with us and, and so we, we met him and, and so he

  619. really fell in love with Teen Challenge.

  620. So he was doing just before the elections when George W got

  621. voted in, he was in a he was going to do a debate that night

  622. with Al Gore and he came, he was in Cedar Rapids and he said he

  623. called, he didn't call. Some of his people called and he

  624. said, hey, would you could you guys be in Cedar Rapids?

  625. Because he's going to do a drug speech and he wants to use Teen

  626. Challenge as an example. He really believes in this

  627. faith-based cure. So you know, we'll do that.

  628. So you get there and there's this long line that, oh, we'll

  629. never get in. And so one of our peeps went up

  630. there and told him who we are. We got ushered into this private

  631. room and the limo comes up. And, yeah, it was fun.

  632. And we got this seating we got. So we spent some time with

  633. George W and one of our Teen Challenge students.

  634. Guy's barely off of drugs, OK? He leans over and he says, Dave,

  635. I got a word for George. I'm thinking.

  636. I'm thinking, dude, don't. So we go into prayer and and he

  637. was very open to prayer and and so we're praying and just God

  638. lead him again. And all of a sudden that guy

  639. pipes up and I'm thinking, oh, man, here it comes.

  640. He said, Governor Bush, He said, I feel like the Lord gave me a

  641. word for you. And he said, yes.

  642. He leaned in. He's like real open to it.

  643. He said, the Lord told me, take the high ground tonight, that if

  644. you will take the high ground that your opponent will shoot

  645. himself in the foot with his attitude.

  646. He said, OK, wouldn't you know it?

  647. Lo and behold, if you remember the debates, there was one where

  648. the commentators began to 0 in because Al Gore would roll his

  649. eyes and huff and puff and George W would just stand there

  650. and it was amazing. And it and it things turned that

  651. night, just a kid barely saved man, just just a few weeks out

  652. of drugs, gets a word from the Lord, delivers it to him.

  653. This man becomes the most powerful man in the earth.

  654. In that moment, you and I hold the real position of power

  655. because we are the representatives of heaven.

  656. We're to pray Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.

  657. But don't make the mistake of thinking God's will will just

  658. happen without you, because God has given the earth to man.

  659. Psalm chapter 8. He put everything under our feet

    Psalms 8 chapter mention

  660. and that's why we need to invite His intervention.

  661. Thanks for listening to our podcast.
