  1. The word turn with me to Revelation the Revelation

    Revelation 5 chapter mention

  2. chapter 5. My computer is demanding A

  3. passcode will not do my finger here.

  4. I don't know what's going on. There we go.

  5. All right. I was had the the joy yesterday

  6. of speaking at a conference in Newton with APEPT.

  7. It's a network of churches and so forth and led by Doctor Dell

  8. Bittner. And I don't know if any of you

  9. know Dell, but he's a great guy. I love Dell and just got a just

  10. a great history in God. He's a wealth of knowledge and

  11. history and had a good time with them.

  12. But I ended up speaking on some of the things we've been talking

  13. about here this morning. And so I'm just going to

  14. continue in that vein. What I want to do this morning

  15. is I want to, you know, sometimes you're not just

  16. teaching the word. There's there's times for

  17. teaching the word, preaching, addressing cultural issues, that

  18. that is an appropriate thing. And there's times we do that.

  19. But there's other times we want to equip the Saints.

  20. And part of that is providing a grid work, you know, framing

  21. things out so people understand what's going on.

  22. And what I mean is specifically about what Josh was just talking

  23. about when he did transition. He was talking about high praise

  24. and how when we we ascend the hill of the Lord is one of the

  25. phrases used in scripture. It's an interesting phrase.

  26. We ascend the hill of the Lord and from there we begin to do

  27. Kingdom business and say, well, you know, pastors, that really

  28. scriptural. Well, I'm hoping to convince you

  29. this morning that it is. So I want to, I want us to

  30. understand what happens in worship and I want to under, I

  31. want us to understand what I believe is somewhat of a unique

  32. assignment for us as a church. It's certainly not unique in all

  33. the earth, but I think that God deposits different callings

  34. within a region and everybody has their part.

  35. I was just texting a pastor in town here this morning.

  36. Tell them I'm praying for you. And, and I believe God's raised

  37. them up and I was praying for their church that God's going to

  38. use them. And I'm, I'm excited they're in

  39. the city because they have a part to play.

  40. We have a part to play. But you and I are responsible to

  41. steward our part. And part of that is our worship

  42. that there's, there's, there are different reasons for worship.

  43. You know, we, we worship Jesus because he's worthy.

  44. And if that's the only reason we worship, we could do that from

  45. not just now till Jesus comes, but well after we for eternity,

  46. we'll worship him because of his great worth.

  47. And that's reason enough. But the fact is there are other

  48. reasons that we worship Jesus. There is there We also worship

  49. them for ourself. You know, we declare God's worth

  50. to him and because he is worthy, but God is not insecure.

  51. It's not that he needs to hear that.

  52. You know, God wasn't wringing his hands last night saying, oh,

  53. I'm feeling a little insecure. I looked down at the United

  54. States and there's such chaos. I, I really hope Heartland

  55. affirms who I am so I can be firm in my identity and fill my

  56. job description for another week.

  57. That's not going on in the heart of God.

  58. God is very secure in who he is, but we worship him because he's

  59. worthy. And it does create an, an

  60. environment where God enthrones himself.

  61. And that's, that's where we really want to go this morning.

  62. But we also worship for ourselves.

  63. We need to recalibrate things for ourselves.

  64. You know, there is a, a false narrative continually that the

  65. enemy is seeking to impose upon us.

  66. And I use that word very carefully.

  67. Narrative, you know, there's, there's narrators who impose a

  68. narrative. And so you know that that idea

  69. of a narrator is the voice off stage that interprets what's

  70. going on stage. And there are voices that are

  71. seeking to interpret the happenings in your life, some

  72. good and some bad. There's the voice of the Lord.

  73. There are angelic voices. Often I think when the Lord

  74. speaking to us, it's really angels.

  75. But that's it for another day. There, there, there.

  76. There's a reason they're called messengers.

  77. And so there's the voice of heaven seeking to interpret, and

  78. much of that we get from the word.

  79. That's why we need to be in the word, because we can interpret

  80. incorrectly what's going on around us.

  81. And the enemy has a vested interest in getting you to

  82. misinterpret what's going on in your life.

  83. So there's a narrator that's trying to create a narrative, an

  84. interpretation, a perception of what's going on in your life.

  85. And they're the the enemy is a very real narrator that is

  86. continually trying to infuse the circumstances in your life with

  87. meaning. According to his narrative, the

  88. conclusions he wants to bring you to because you're believing

  89. will determine your behaving. And if he can get you to

  90. conclude the wrong things, perceive the wrong things,

  91. misinterpret things, he can get you to act wrongly and it

  92. literally becomes a self fulfilling prophecy because you

  93. will act according to what you believe and it will become a

  94. reality. If you believe the wrong things,

  95. you're going to behave in a wrong way and your behaviour

  96. will produce fruit in your life. Your present circumstances are

  97. often the result of your belief systems, good and bad.

  98. And so, and I'm not talking about us creating our own world,

  99. I'm talking about us engaging with the spiritual realm.

  100. And when we believe lies will live out as though those lies

  101. were true and overtime they will become true because we

  102. accommodate them. Does that make sense?

  103. And so worship is one of the the combatants against that one.

  104. It's one of those tools. God's given us weapons to combat

  105. that because in worship we get things into clarity.

  106. It's like, you know, when you are a, I was on a Zoom call the

  107. other day and something said on my Zoom, I don't know how to use

  108. this stuff. I could just get on there.

  109. I see the face and there's my little face, but something said

  110. on there, sometimes things will happen.

  111. I'll wave my hand, little balloons will fly up.

  112. That's just, you know, what is that?

  113. I don't know how to change that. It's off right now because I was

  114. talking and there was no balloons.

  115. But now the, the background is really out of focus.

  116. It kind of looks cool. You know, I didn't do that.

  117. If you're on a Zoom call with me, that wasn't me.

  118. I don't know how that happened, but the reason I bring that up

  119. like pastor, that was squirrel. No, I've I'm going somewhere

  120. with this that when we we bring into focus the Lord and his

  121. narration, everything else kind of fades into the background.

  122. Those other narratives, those other belief systems, those

  123. other storylines that the enemy's trying to impose on us

  124. and reinterpret our circumstance makes sense.

  125. So worship is we are getting him into clarity again.

  126. We're doing it for ourselves. We're worshipping to reprogram

  127. and recalibrate and bring into focus so everything else fades

  128. to the background. And that's a really good reason

  129. to worship. We could worship for a couple

  130. thousand years just on that one. But there's a third reason we

  131. worship and that is and, and I thought it was interesting what

  132. Josh said. Josh said pressing the will of

  133. the Lord, because often this phrase will come to me.

  134. So this morning I just thought, I'm going to look that up.

  135. What what does that really mean? Because I'll say it, I kind of

  136. had an idea, but it's pressing the crown rights of King Jesus.

  137. We press the crown rights and pressing the Crown rights is a,

  138. is a, it's a phrase from Commonwealth.

  139. It's a phrase from kingdoms where there there are legalities

  140. in which the those authorized with authority from the crown

  141. will go and press the Crown rights.

  142. Some of that often will that'll come up in the idea of property.

  143. And so they're in going and seizing property or exercising

  144. the crown rights over property. And that'll preach because

  145. there's a property called Iowa. We want to see the crown rights

  146. of King Jesus enforced. The earth is the Lords and the

  147. fullness thereof. And so in worship, we catch the

  148. heart of the Lord and we press his crown rights into situations

  149. in our life. And so that's there's a there's

  150. a warfare element to worship that we must be aware of.

  151. And if all, if there's that old saying, if all you have is a

  152. hammer, you treat everything like a man nail.

  153. If the only way that you see worship is one way, then you've

  154. got you have this one hit wonder where you're going to try to

  155. treat everything like they're the same situation.

  156. And there are times where we need to pick up high praise and

  157. begin to wield the authority, the crown rights of King Jesus

  158. and impose his will into situations.

  159. And so that's what we want to talk about this morning.

  160. Now let me do it. Little, little background

  161. because I haven't been in this pulpit for two weeks.

  162. It's been, it was 3 weeks ago, man.

  163. Someone said, hey, Pastor Avery, really biting at the bit to get

  164. back in the pulpit. Well, I didn't preach a lot this

  165. week. I just didn't get to preach from

  166. here. But I want to, I want to kind of

  167. do a little bit of review to get us back up to speed because what

  168. we've been talking about are two things.

  169. We've been talking about the Psalms, Psalms 2 and Psalm 149.

  170. Both of those, those bookend Psalms are talking about God

  171. dealing with the nations. And this is very, very, very

  172. relevant to us right now. We're living in a unique time in

  173. history where there is global chaos and God is calling the

  174. church to step to the forefront and begin to press his crown

  175. rights into national affairs, not just in our nation, but in

  176. other nations. But both of them come into play

  177. that that the real hope of the United States of America is not

  178. the White House, it's God's house and it's not the executive

  179. office. It's the church stepping into

  180. and pressing the crown rights of King Jesus.

  181. And so we see in Psalm chapter 2, David is incredulous and he

    Psalms 2 chapter mention

  182. says, why do the why do the heathen rage?

  183. Why do the kings of this earth imagine a vain thing?

  184. Why, why do they, the kings, the nations, the peoples and the the

  185. other one I think was nobles. Why they what they're doing is

  186. they rage and they say, let us throw off the yoke of the Lord

  187. and his anointed one. In other words, we're not going

  188. to, we're not going to come under God's rules, God's edicts,

  189. God's laws, God's ethical ideas. We're going to, we're going to

  190. throw those off and we're going to do our own thing.

  191. And David, David's incredulous how, why would they do this?

  192. And then he gives God's response.

  193. This is Psalm 2. And he says he who sits in the

  194. heavens laughs. And sometimes you and I, we need

  195. to get in God's presence so we can see from God's perspective

  196. how he's dealing with these things, because we can be from

  197. an earthly perspective and wringing our hands while he who

  198. sits in the heavens looks down and laughs.

  199. And then he says he holds them in derision.

  200. Derision means to mock them. He puts them in a tight place

  201. they can't get out of and he he mocks them in their rebellion.

  202. These kings of the earth that are trying to rule and to, you

  203. know, to rebel against God. Now we need to understand that

  204. this Psalm was first. There's there's really three

  205. applications for this Psalm. And if we jump to the obvious

  206. New Testament one, we will miss the other two and some very

  207. valuable things that God has for us in Psalm chapter 2.

    Psalms 2 chapter mention

  208. And what I mean is this it was originally written to king.

  209. It was a encounter that King David had, OK, And it was

  210. written about David. And when he says, As for me,

  211. he's saying he's reiterating to you and I what he heard in a

  212. throne room encounter with God. He heard God say this, As for

  213. me, I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.

  214. And that is he's he's saying that in response to the

  215. rebellious kings of the earth saying we're not going to obey

  216. God. And God's laughs cast him in

  217. derision. And then he says to them,

  218. listen, As for me, I've set my king on Zion on my holy hill.

  219. And God is speaking to these kings through David.

  220. And David is the king that he set there.

  221. Now, why is that important for us?

  222. Because you and I, we have a tendency to interpret this

  223. solely as a messianic Psalm. And it is, OK, it's a messianic

  224. Psalm. But it is first and foremost was

  225. spoken of a human king named David.

  226. And this is very important because there's also an

  227. application for the Church of Jesus Christ who are seated with

  228. him in heavenly places. And if we just reduce it to a

  229. messianic Psalm, we reduce it to poetry about Jesus ministry

  230. rather than realizing that God was enforcing the rule of this

  231. earthly king and he was in, he's also enforcing the rule of his

  232. heavenly king that sits on the seat of David in the heavenly

  233. realms. And we are seated with him and

  234. we have a role to play in this thing.

  235. OK, so it says that God is going to cast them in derision.

  236. Let's let's look there. I'm sorry, let's let's make sure

  237. So you know I'm not making this up.

  238. Turn with me. Chapter 2 of Psalm, the second

  239. Psalm. And I want to tie this in with

  240. what we've been talking about in Revelation.

  241. So look what he says he look at verse four.

  242. He sits in the heavens, laughs, he holds them in derision, Then

  243. he will speak to them in his wrath and terrify of them in his

  244. fear. He's saying in verse 6, this is

  245. what he says to them. As for me, in other words, the

  246. one who sits on the throne of the universe, the epicenter of

  247. governmental rule for all the cosmos.

  248. As for me, I've set my king in Zion on my holy hill, and he's

  249. telling these, these kings of the earth.

  250. Listen, you better come come to terms with this because that's

  251. the one I've chosen. I will tell of the decree, David

  252. said. So David saying what I heard in

  253. this encounter, I'm going to tell you what I heard the Lord

  254. said to me. David, you are my son today I've

  255. begotten you. We were talking in the school

  256. about how this idea of royal sonship is all through the

  257. ancient world. OK, royal sonship.

  258. Sonship was the idea that a king, an earthly king, was a

  259. earthly representative of the God which they worshipped.

  260. We know that was true and and so they were known as the son of

  261. God. Pharaoh was known as the son of

  262. Rah, their God Rah Caesar was known as the son of God and

  263. eventually became the embodiment of God himself on earth.

  264. And so this was an ancient idea that Jesus steps in and he is

  265. the son of God who is the embodiment of God on planet

  266. earth. He came to bring his Kingdom.

  267. All of that is very important. And here's the thing, we can

  268. look back at these people and say, oh, these ignorant,

  269. unenlightened, superstitious people that thought these human

  270. kings were the representative of the God they worshipped.

  271. But be careful with that because it very well maybe well, it it's

  272. not very well maybe it the fact is they understood the alliances

  273. between the physical realm and the spiritual realm far beyond

  274. what most evangelicals, modern Christians do that they're there

  275. that the spiritual realm. There are rulers in the

  276. spiritual realm that seek to make alliances and coalitions

  277. with earthly rulers and then their will can be manifest

  278. through those kingdoms. Are you tracking with me?

  279. So when we talk about principalities, these

  280. principalities, there's a reason that when Daniel was praying 21

  281. days and on the 21st day of his fast, the Angel shows up a

  282. little rough for where and says from the day you started

  283. praying, I, I, I came to you, the Lord sent me to bring you

  284. the message you were praying for, but I was held up in the

  285. heavenlies by the Prince of Persia.

  286. It's where Daniel was praying. He was in Persia and he was

  287. having to battle this spiritual darkness.

  288. The the hesitancy, the the delay was not on God's end, nor was it

  289. on Daniel's end. Daniel was determined to pray

  290. through God sent it the day he began to pray the delay, the

  291. battle was in the heavenly realms.

  292. And so when we see this ancient idea, it's that they were, they

  293. had much more perception because they were nearer to the

  294. inception of God's design, that God meant for heaven and earth

  295. to function together. And so this counterfeit of these

  296. people being in these alliances was what David was addressing

  297. here. So God says through David, you

  298. are my son, you are my earthly representative, I've adopted you

  299. as a son, and you are my representative on the earth, the

  300. Most High God, and you are to press my crown rights and I'm

  301. going to rule through you and bring these kings under

  302. subjection tracking with me. So that's what's going on here.

  303. Now look at what he says. Ask of me, and I will make the

  304. nation's your inherit, your heritage, and the ends of the

  305. earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod

  306. of iron, dash them in pieces like a Potter's vessel.

  307. And then now David declares. This is David declaring to these

  308. kings. Now therefore, O kings, be wise,

  309. be warned. O rulers of the earth, serve the

  310. Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

  311. Kiss the sun, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way.

  312. For his wrath is quickly kindled.

  313. Blessed are all take refuge in him.

  314. And originally this was David Speaking of himself and saying,

  315. hey, surrender on the front end. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry,

  316. and you perish in the way. But we know it's a messianic

  317. Psalm of Jesus. But you and I, there are, there

  318. are, this is a template by which God operates in the earth that

  319. applies to the New Testament. We're enthroned with him.

  320. And so God expects us to be involved in this process of God

  321. enforcing his will on the earth through prayer and through

  322. worship. Worship is a key part of this.

  323. It's not just us getting in our prayer closet and praying alone,

  324. and it's not even just a corporate prayer meeting.

  325. There is a, an environment in which when we begin to worship

  326. him that literally he enthroned himself in our worship.

  327. Psalm 22 says, and, and the context we've talked about this

  328. before, but this is crucial. So we're just going to kind of

  329. reiterate some things this morning because I'm trying to

  330. kind of frame this up for us so that we understand what we're

  331. partaking of. Psalm 22 where it says you

  332. enthrone yourself in the praise of Israel.

  333. It literally means to be seated, but when God sits down, it's a

  334. throne. There's a Japanese version of

  335. that verse that says whenever God's people prays, they carry a

  336. chair in which God sits upon. So in a very real sense, worship

  337. is a chair that we all commit to.

  338. Hey, let's grab the chair this morning.

  339. Let's put it on our shoulders and let's bring it into the

  340. sanctuary and let's set it down and let's welcome.

  341. Lord, we invite you to sit upon the throne.

  342. Because when you see you're seated now, Lord, we invite you

  343. to begin to extend your scepter and change circumstances.

  344. And it's got to be beyond just our own lives, OK?

  345. It's not Lord, I'm struggling with this change that

  346. circumstance. That's fine.

  347. That's good. God really does care about you

  348. as an individual. But there's something higher

  349. he's called us to, and that is corporate worship for corporate

  350. intercession to deal with regional and national and

  351. international issues. And that is that is the the

  352. privilege of all the Saints, the honor of all the Saints we're

  353. going to see in Psalm 149 turn there.

  354. So this is this is the second Psalm.

  355. He introduces this in this praise manual, this hymnal of

  356. the people of Israel. And, and again, I want to

  357. reiterate this, this is very, very important that these hymns

  358. were not just poetry that creative people wrote.

  359. They are literally the records of the psalmist seers that

  360. recorded went through scribes, their encounters, not just so

  361. that we can look back and think, oh, that's neat that they got to

  362. encounter those things. It's so that they would leave

  363. the trail for you and I so that you and I could enter into the

  364. same. This is the honor of all the

  365. Saints. This isn't just for the special

  366. few. We are enthroned with Him in

  367. heavenly places and God wants us to ascend the hill of the Lord

  368. and be brought into those encounters.

  369. Because in those encounters you will receive things that you

  370. need, that without them your life will not work as God

  371. intended. If all that we have is our human

  372. learning, we be in trouble. If if all we have is what we we

  373. can study ourselves into, we're in trouble.

  374. We need something beyond our human wisdom.

  375. We need the Intel of heaven that God breaks in and gives us

  376. directives. We need the mind of Christ.

  377. And when we have that, then things change.

  378. And so these are the, if you read the Psalms, you have to

  379. come to the conclusion they're either just pretty poetry or

  380. these are supernatural encounters of the seers, the

  381. psalmists. David was called a prophet,

  382. Asaph was a prophet. Scripture says one of the

  383. authors of the Psalms and these prophets, the Old Testament

  384. criteria for being a prophet. You'll see this phrase.

  385. Yeah. He stood in the counsel of the

  386. Lord COUNCIL. Standing in the counsel of the

  387. Lord, many scholars believe, was the criteria.

  388. That was the qualification to be a prophet.

  389. And all of us as a new covenant people are, are invited to stand

  390. in the counsel of the Lord as the ecclesia.

  391. It's a very similar word and very similar idea when you look

  392. at what the the Old Testament lays out.

  393. It's not that God needs counsel, COUNSEL, but God is a team

  394. player. He really does like to share his

  395. authority. It's an amazing thing.

  396. It's one of the most intriguing things to me about God that he

  397. includes us. He does not need us.

  398. In fact, like a father who wants to have his son working with

  399. him. Hey, son, let's work on the car.

  400. And now you know that it's going to take three times as long to

  401. fix what you're going to fix because you got the little guy

  402. over there and he's dropping things and he's using the wrong

  403. right. You're trying to bring him

  404. along. But God is good with that.

  405. He could get there a lot faster on his own.

  406. But he said no, Come on. Why don't you go work with me

  407. today? When I worked at Teen Challenge,

  408. we would have Randy, you remember this having wake up and

  409. that meant you had to show up really early and wake all the

  410. guys up and and you'd walk down the dorm.

  411. All right, guys, get up. Come on, we're going to go, you

  412. know, and they'd have to go to then they'd go down.

  413. You'd do Med call and all that stuff.

  414. And when my boys were really little, they'd say, Dad, can I

  415. go to work with you today? And they'd they're a little MIT

  416. in my hand and they'd be telling these grown men get out of bed.

  417. Come on, it's time to get up, man.

  418. Come on, guys, they're little. One day I took my little boy,

  419. one of my little boys, I don't even remember which one, but he

  420. was walking with me and saying, and the Lord said, that's how I

  421. want you to be. I want every day.

  422. Do you get up, say, Dad, can I go to work with you today?

  423. That my tiny little voice and my little MIT in his big old hand

  424. and I'm bossing things around in the earth.

  425. So I got a big dad. And so God invites us to go to

  426. work with him. It's an amazing thing.

  427. He can get it done a whole lot faster without us, but he set up

  428. a system that he will not do it without us and we cannot do it

  429. without him. And this partnership between

  430. heaven and earth is crucial. So Psalm 149, let's look at it.

  431. Oh my goodness, it's quarter tail praise the Lord sing to the

  432. Lord a new song that's a prophetic song.

  433. It literally in the Hebrew, it's a song that's never been heard

  434. that in the moment you hit you hit pay dirt and you begin to

  435. release the now of God, the heart of God, his praise in the

  436. assembly that Septuagint translates that ekklesia of the

  437. God and let Israel be glad in his maker.

  438. Let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

  439. This theme of Zion you keep seeing come up and there's in

  440. the New Testament, Zion is the Kingdom.

  441. It's the seat of God's governmental rule.

  442. Let them praise him with dancing, making melody with him

  443. to him with tambourine and lyre. Listen to what he's saying here.

  444. This is not just this casual, you know, kind of half mast, you

  445. know, Lord, we thank you. We're talking full body worship.

  446. We're, we're talking using our body as a weapon and an

  447. instrument to glorify him, though that stuff matters to the

  448. Lord because it's you engaging your whole heart.

  449. We, we and some of you are more reserved than others.

  450. You know, I, I don't dance before the Lord as much as I

  451. used to because I, I just can't get the air I used to.

  452. And then when I stop, my body keeps doing it for a few seconds

  453. like, well, that was embarrassing.

  454. I know that ally's down there. Too much information, pastor,

  455. too much information. I always I I got.

  456. I need to put a camera on ally when I preach and then go back

  457. and look at the the time mark and oh, I should never say that

  458. again because of Ally's response.

  459. Anyway, I digress. So but the fact is we need to

  460. use our bodies as instruments of worship.

  461. That really does matter to the Lord.

  462. A matter of fact it there's a reason the psalmist said they

  463. dancing he he crowns the humble with salvation because it's

  464. humbling. I wasn't a good dancer, but you

  465. know when I was out in the world man.

  466. So anyways, I digress. So let let them praise him with

  467. dancing for the Lord takes pleasure in his people.

  468. He adorns the humble with salvation.

  469. Now look at this verse 6. Let the high praise.

  470. This is what Josh was talking about.

  471. Let the high praise of God be in their throats and A2 edged sword

  472. in their hand. We know that the sword of the

  473. Lord is the word of God and we wield it.

  474. A sword is not. He's not talking about using it

  475. to cut bread or you know, do work on your house.

  476. A sword is a weapon of warfare where we release the word of the

  477. Lord to move things in the environment.

  478. And there's a dynamic of the high praise that we enter into

  479. when that happens. And so this, this is a warfare

  480. mindset when we enter into worship, Worship is not always

  481. warfare, but there are times it is.

  482. And it's we catch the catch the heart of the Lord and we begin

  483. to make these declarations that really do matter in the earth,

  484. that God begins to move things and shift things.

  485. And we need to develop a sensitivity in these this

  486. environment when we're worshipping, that we hit those

  487. those platforms of authority. We're going to begin to release

  488. things over our families, over our children, over our

  489. grandchildren, over our nation, over the governmental structure,

  490. over our city, that we begin to release the word of the Lord

  491. because it carries power. And we are subjecting the enemy

  492. to the truth of God and pressing the crown rights of King Jesus

  493. over those situations. And things have to move.

  494. And so it's very, very important for us to understand this.

  495. Otherwise we treat everything like it's an intimacy moment.

  496. And then intimacy is foundational.

  497. I'm, I'm not in any way minimizing that.

  498. I'm just saying that there's other elements to this thing

  499. that we need to be aware of. So what does he say?

  500. What what is the purpose? Verse 7, to execute vengeance on

  501. the nation's. And it is fascinating.

  502. He mentions the same four groups of people he talked about in

  503. Psalm 2. So in Psalm 2 he says they're

  504. rebelling and they're saying I'm not going to submit to God's

  505. rule. And in chapter 149, the second

  506. of the last Psalm, he shows that you and I have a part to play

  507. when he brings them into subjection.

  508. What is that part? To execute vengeance on the

  509. nation's punishment, on the people's, to bind their kings

  510. with chains and their nobles with federal of iron.

  511. To execute upon them the judgment written.

  512. This is the honor for all his godly ones praise the Lord and

  513. primarily what we're dealing with are those spiritual

  514. realities those rulers and principalities and powers.

  515. But there is a place where God will he will hem in a world

  516. ruler. He'll muzzle them and turn them.

  517. We talked about it a few weeks ago, Hall Hitler, when he came

  518. out of his meeting with Chamberlain, he he confided in

  519. his counselors and he was frustrated.

  520. He said for the first time I didn't obey the voice and even

  521. told Chamberlain in the meeting, he said, I don't know why I'm

  522. giving you what you want. And we look back at that meeting

  523. as an abject failure. And there's good reason too.

  524. But there were some things that the Lord did secure in that

  525. because of the prayers of the Saints, and it gave Britain a

  526. little bit of time to build up their armament.

  527. And although that was Chamberlain was suckered into a

  528. deal and believed he'd secured peace when he hadn't, God used

  529. that. And Hitler went against the

  530. voice that he said he had followed since childhood.

  531. There was a demonic counselor living within him and that would

  532. violate the counsel of his his advisors and, and he'd win again

  533. and again. And they were, they were just so

  534. intrigued by how does this guy have this military brilliance

  535. that goes counter intuitive to what we always tell them.

  536. And it was the prayers of the Saints that begin to put a

  537. harness in his mouth and steer him in the way that God wanted

  538. him to go. And you and I need to pray for

  539. world leaders, pray for our king, pray for our president,

  540. pray for the kings of the earth. And we need to catch the word of

  541. the Lord and get what God is saying and then begin to pray

  542. that stuff. Because the real seat of power

  543. in the universe is the throne room.

  544. And the church in heaven, it's God's throne room.

  545. And on earth, it's the Church of Jesus Christ.

  546. And if we abdicate our role, things will veer off contrary to

  547. what God wants. And so we need to understand the

  548. high and exalted position that he's given us, not in an

  549. arrogant sense, but with great humility that Lord, don't let us

  550. shirk this responsibility. We are going to steer this thing

  551. in prayer and our president needs our prayer.

  552. Nathan, as a prophet of God, made a mistake and gave his king

  553. this council. Do whatever's in your heart, God

  554. be with you. And then the Lord corrected the

  555. prophet Nathan and he had to circle back around and say,

  556. actually, that was me. This is the word of the Lord.

  557. And we we're not called to endorse everything any

  558. candidate, any president says because we're we're above that.

  559. We are speaking from heaven. And so we need to speak into

  560. those things, the word of the Lord.

  561. And there are times where on earthly president will make bad

  562. decisions and we need to steer them.

  563. And so the prayers are not just to get people in and out of

  564. office. The prayers are to shepherd them

  565. while they're there. This is an hour for Daniels,

  566. those who hear the word of the Lord and speak into the halls of

  567. power. Even if you don't have direct

  568. access, spiritually speaking, we can pray in these things.

  569. Amen. OK, I say all that, turn to

  570. Revelation 5 and we're just going to go on into the second

  571. server. I'm just kidding.

  572. I really would like to Revelation chapter 5.

    Revelation 5 chapter mention

  573. So we talked about this two weeks ago, but I want it.

  574. I want it again. I want to stress this that there

  575. is in chapter 3, the final church that John has a message

  576. for the Church of Laodicea. What does he say right at the

  577. end, verse 19, chapter 3, To those, those whom I love, I

  578. reprove and discipline. So be zealous and repent.

  579. So he's dealing with their hearts.

  580. And then he says this, this famous verse, Behold, I stand

  581. and at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and

  582. opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me.

  583. So there's a feast on the other side of this invitation.

  584. There's a door that you and I control.

  585. He descends and he comes to us. And he says, listen, I'm

  586. knocking on your heart. I want to deal with some things.

  587. And when you feel the dealings of God, there is the promise in

  588. this verse of a feast of revelation that God has for you.

  589. If we respond, the famous painting of this, we've all seen

  590. it where Jesus is at the wooden door.

  591. And if you look at that picture, there's no handle, no lock on

  592. the outside. All the mechanism is on the

  593. interior, because you and I control that door.

  594. It's the door of intimacy. We must respond to Him.

  595. But there's another door. The next passage, Revelation 4.

  596. After this, I looked and behold, a door standing open in heaven.

  597. And so there are these two doors.

  598. There's the door on our heart that you and I have to respond

  599. to. And this is the door of

  600. intimacy. And God wants to develop that

  601. intimacy with us. But here's what we need to

  602. catch, that there's more than mere intimacy.

  603. It's not just about you getting saved and getting close to

  604. Jesus. That is awesome.

  605. Again, we could worship for eternity just on that one thing.

  606. But He's not merely come to fellowship with you.

  607. He wants you to come up and ascend the hill of the Lord.

  608. And from there He wants you to rule and reign with Him.

  609. And that isn't a someday thing. It's a right now thing.

  610. And we do it through intercession and worship,

  611. prophetic intercessory worship. And so this other door is

  612. already open. Now the fact is, if we don't

  613. open the first door, we're never going to be entrusted with the

  614. second door. If we don't lay that groundwork

  615. and develop an intimate relationship with the Lord, then

  616. you'll never begin to step into the things that God wants you to

  617. do in the earth, that God has given you authority.

  618. You are seated in heavenly places with him.

  619. We are whatsoever we bind on earth to be bound in heaven,

  620. whatsoever we loose on earth to be loosed in heaven.

  621. And so we're we're called to operate with the Lord in these

  622. matters, but we have to have that groundwork of intimacy.

  623. And so listen to what he says here in chapter 3.

  624. He says I will come in and eat with him and he with me.

  625. Verse 21, the one who conquers, I will grant with him, grant to

  626. him to sit on my throne as I conquered and sat down with my

  627. Father on his throne. He was an ear.

  628. Let him hear what the Spirit would say to the churches.

  629. So as we develop that intimacy with them, then we're taken into

  630. the throne. I mean, listen what it says or

  631. one after this, I looked and behold, a door standing open in

  632. heaven. He didn't see that door.

  633. He it it was it was once he was he delivered the message about

  634. the personal door that all of a sudden, behold, he saw a door in

  635. heaven. And there was a voice saying,

  636. come up here and I will show you what must take place after this.

  637. That word must is an interesting word day.

  638. It's DEI day. That's what the that's how you

  639. spell it in the Greek and transliteration to be necessary,

  640. to be unavoidably determined by prior circumstances, something

  641. understood with the contingency. What follows is, is the

  642. revelation of a necessity. So when John hears this, he

  643. says, the Lord said, come up here and I will show you what

  644. must soon take place. And what transpires after that

  645. is the revelation of something that is a necessity that God

  646. needs to release on the earth. OK, The activity and order of

  647. events laid out in John's experience reveal throne room

  648. protocol to instruct us. We said, again, it's not just

  649. the events that we read about and oh, this is end time

  650. affairs. This is neat.

  651. No, there are there are traces of throne room protocol that we

  652. must not rush over because when we understand the order of these

  653. events, when we understand what's going on here, you and I

  654. can enter into the same. There is a protocol to these

  655. types of matters. If you want to operate in what

  656. God's called you to, We need to be very sensitive to how God has

  657. laid things out. So look at chapter 5.

  658. Then I saw in the right hand of so John.

  659. Verse 3 chapters he delivers to the seven churches.

  660. Chapter 4, he's invited to the upper.

  661. He's invited to go into the a throne room encounter.

  662. He begins to describe all that he's seeing around and then

  663. chapter 5, then I saw so there's again and again you'll see

  664. behold and then behold and then and those words are the triggers

  665. to show when the scene changes. It's like John, suddenly there's

  666. a reason that God has the then there because these things were

  667. inaccessible prior. And you and I need to take very

  668. careful attention to this because there are certain things

  669. that must be in place before we can next move into the then.

  670. Does that make sense? So there's certain things you've

  671. got to fulfill the criteria to trigger the then.

  672. And so John then sees this scroll in the Lord's hand

  673. written with, within and on the back sealed with 7 seals.

  674. And I saw mighty Angel proclaiming with a loud voice

  675. who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals.

  676. And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to

  677. open the scroll or look into it. There have been several songs as

  678. of late written out of this passage that we tend to like

  679. around here. And I would propose to you,

  680. there's a reason we like those because it's speaking to a deep

  681. sense of what we're called to. I'm talking about the cross, the

  682. body of Christ. There's a reason that these

  683. songs are being written right now because they're crucial at

  684. these these pivotal moments in human history where there are

  685. the battles for the Thrones of the earth.

  686. God has to have a praying, worshipping bride that can

  687. release his edicts and what we what was in his hand.

  688. And the rest of the book bears this out.

  689. It was a scroll with 7 seals. And what that scroll contained

  690. were God's judgment against all opposition to his purposes on

  691. the earth. Think about that.

  692. Set aside all your eschatology for a moment and realize that

  693. there Psalm 149 says we carry out the sentence written against

  694. them. Psalm 2 talks about the edicts

  695. and Revelation 5 says there's a scroll in God's hand.

  696. God the most the the all powerful being, he who sat on

  697. the throne had a scroll. It was his purposes.

  698. He told he he he communicated through an Angel to John.

  699. These are the things that must take place, but yet they were in

  700. his hand and they had to be opened.

  701. And John begins to wail because no one was found worthy in

  702. heaven and earth or under the earth.

  703. There was this eruption in John, this grief.

  704. We've got to release God's purposes in the earth.

  705. We've got to release God's purposes in the earth.

  706. You look at the massacre happening in some of the African

  707. nations right now with Christians and there needs to be

  708. an eruption. God, we've got to release your

  709. purposes in the earth. We've got to when we look at

  710. what what's happening in our school system and them catering

  711. to the the a mental illness and encouraging children to, you

  712. know, side with these misconceptions about themselves

  713. and surgically alter their bodies.

  714. There needs to be something within us and in great grief

  715. that says God, we've got to release your purposes in the

  716. earth. We've got to release your

  717. purposes in the earth. And here's the thing that that

  718. that scroll was not released until John began to weep, and

  719. then the Lamb stepped forward. And I would propose to you that

  720. it's the tears of the Saints that released the Gears of War

  721. in Heaven that causes God to begin to unreleased his

  722. purposes. And he cannot entrust that level

  723. of authority to a people who will not be broken with tears.

  724. If we're not willing to cry over these things, then he cannot

  725. release to us the authority to deal with them.

  726. This, this level of authority and this what God wants to do

  727. must be wielded by a hand connected to a broken heart that

  728. we have compassion and we're broken for the brokenness of

  729. humanity. Go ahead and stand.

  730. So you know I'm going to quit. I, I was, I was thinking about

  731. this again and years ago when we were in the old building, there

  732. was a young man that I don't know who he was, but he, he said

  733. he, he was passing through, came to a Saturday night service,

  734. enjoyed it, came up to me after the service and he shared

  735. something with me. He said, I go to Joel and Linda

  736. Budds Church in Tulsa. At the time I didn't know Joel

  737. and Linda, but I, I knew of them.

  738. And he said, he said, our pastors, Joel and Linda shared

  739. something with me, but I feel like I need to share with you

  740. before I leave. And I don't know if it was Joel

  741. that had this vision or if it was someone that had spoken at

  742. their church, but they were talking about how the Lord in

  743. this vision, the Lord invited them into this little sphere of

  744. a room and there were two chairs in it.

  745. And the Lord took one of the chairs in it and invited whoever

  746. had this vision to sit next to him.

  747. And he closed the door and there was it was like a sphere.

  748. And there was this window on the front.

  749. And they it right outside was the the world spinning.

  750. And he said the Lord just began to weep as he watched the world

  751. and he wept over the world. And then he just joined the Lord

  752. and they wept over the world as the world turns and just they,

  753. they sat. And he said it went on for quite

  754. some time, like, you know, an hour, 2 hours, they just swept

  755. over the world. And all of a sudden the Lord

  756. looked at him and reached over and opened a door that prior to

  757. that he didn't know was there, opened it.

  758. And then they climbed through. The Lord invited him to follow.

  759. And they were in this massive room, and in this room was like

  760. a library. There were maps, reconnaissance

  761. maps and and computer screens with reconnaissance.

  762. And it was the strategy room of Heaven.

  763. And the message of the vision was this.

  764. Only those who are willing to weep over the world are granted

  765. access to the strategy room of Heaven.

  766. Listen, there is a there are scrolls right now.

  767. There are edicts already written.

  768. There are there are things that are in the hand of God that he

  769. longs to release upon the earth. But there is a royal protocol to

  770. this thing that he does not just do it on his own.

  771. He's looking for the the the invitation from the earth.

  772. He's looking for a people who will ascend the hill of the Lord

  773. and in worship catch the heart of God and weep over the world.

  774. And God longs to release some of those things right now.

  775. But he's got to find those people.

  776. He's looking for those who will be broken for the things of this

  777. world. Even for our families.

  778. There is something about travail.

  779. It's one thing to pray for your kids, your spouse, your parents.

  780. It's one thing to pray for them. It's another thing when there's

  781. a brokenness and you enter into that place of travail, that

  782. weeping things begin to move because you've caught the heart

  783. of God. So Father, this morning, Lord, I

  784. ask God that you would. Lord, I ask that you would grant

  785. us travail. Lord, roll out the weapon of

  786. travail in this hour. Man, I feel that I have been

  787. praying that for us for 20 years now, but I feel like God wants

  788. to roll out the cannons of travail.

  789. Just put your heart hands out to the Lord, and if you can pray

  790. this, I want you to do so. Lord, we present ourselves

  791. before you. Lord, we're asking God that you

  792. receive our hearts as your habitation.

  793. Lord, we open the door, come in. But Lord, we want to come up.

  794. Lord, it's not good enough for you just to merely enter the

  795. door of our heart. And we're so grateful, Lord, but

  796. God, we want to fulfill your purposes, Lord.

  797. Give us tears to cry for this hour, Lord.

  798. Lord, find in US a people through whom you can enforce

  799. your will, through whom you can press the crown rights of King

  800. Jesus on the properties of planet earth in Jesus name.

  801. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Lord.

  802. Thank you, Lord, thank you Lord, I just want to encourage you,

  803. take that this morning. Reach out and grab that.

  804. There's an impartation for those with the faith to grab it that

  805. we're presenting ourselves saying, God, I'm asking you to

  806. begin to break my heart for these things.

  807. Lord, bring us into a higher plane of prayer, a higher place

  808. where we can begin to see your purposes established in the

  809. earth. I'm going to ask the prayer team

  810. to come forward and stand across the front.

  811. If you need prayer this morning, you may just want to come and

  812. kneel and pray about. Just allow the Lord to do a work

  813. in your heart. But I want to encourage you what

  814. I just felt. Don't.

  815. I don't know what you felt, but don't just kind of move off this

  816. thing. God is wanting to give us

  817. something. He's wanting to impart.

  818. I'm telling you, the eyes of the Lord are looking to and fro for

  819. those He can entrust with his heart, his burden.

  820. Not just his mind, but his heart.

  821. His mind without his heart often makes for harsh reactions to

  822. others, but his heart with his mind will cut through things if

  823. you need to. If you need prayer this morning,

  824. the altars are open. If you need to get right with

  825. the Lord this morning, if you're saying, man, I need to, I need

  826. to surrender, refresh. It might be something you've

  827. done before. It might be something you've

  828. never done, but you're saying I want to surrender to Jesus.

  829. I want you to raise your hand. We want to pray for you this

  830. morning. Everyone of us have had to do

  831. that at some time. You're saying I want to

  832. surrender to Jesus. I want to get right with God

  833. this morning. Want to make sure I see your

  834. hand this morning. We want to give you that

  835. opportunity that you're going to step over the line saying, God,

  836. I'm signing up. I want to walk with you.

  837. All right, listen, the altars are open if you need prayer.

  838. God bless you. I love you.

  839. Have a great week.
