  1. Welcome to Ontario Community Church, where we are encouraging, equipping, and engaging lives for Christ.

  2. I'm Pastor Patrick Daly, and each week I share sermons that balance the grace and love of Jesus Christ with the truth of the Word of God.

  3. Together, we'll explore Scripture using observation, interpretation, and application.

  4. This helps us discover practical ways to live out our faith every single day.

  5. Let's dive in together into God's Word.

  6. Well, good morning, everyone.

  7. Are we keeping warm this morning?

  8. It's 20 degrees or less, depending upon which part of town you're at.

  9. It's cold, and it's hard to adjust.

  10. And I think for every year, for a lot of us, it's definitely hard to adjust to it.

  11. Well, today we have a sermon titled, The World of Wheat and Weeds.

  12. You know, the world that we do live in is constantly changing.

  13. Even when we think of just what's happened in the month time that we've been here in 2025, we had...

  14. We have a lot of transitions that are happening, things that are happening in our own world today.

  15. From the fires that's happening in California, to the volcano that was going off in Hawaii, to the TikTok ban, to the change or the transition of power and the administration.

  16. All these things are happening, and it can certainly be overwhelming for us, especially...

  17. It's January.

  18. Come on.

  19. I mean, you'd think this would happen in June or July kind of thing, these kind of events that are happening.

  20. But the reality is, we live in a world where there are wheat and weeds.

  21. And we're going to go over this very famous parable, and you'll see here that we're actually skipping a parable.

  22. We're going to go specifically over the parable of the weeds.

  23. And this is very important for us to recognize, as always, we read the Word of God.

  24. And we want to know what the Word of God has to say in its context.

  25. We also have to learn to know what are the lessons, what are the things, right?

  26. What are the things we can observe?

  27. What are the things that we can learn?

  28. And what are the things that we can apply to our very lives?

  29. For each and every one of us, I hope and pray that you come to know the Lord.

  30. That your journey will be the journey to Jesus Christ, to know who He is, the way, the truth, and the life.

  31. And upon receiving the free gift of salvation, it should be our prayer, and it is my prayer as well,

  32. that you grow in Christ.

  33. That you go from milk of the Word to solid food.

  34. That you will mature, understanding more of the complexities, and stop worrying about the elementary things,

  35. or even the former life that you once lived.

  36. To grow and to be transformed.

  37. Just like it says to be transformed by the renewal of your mind.

  38. Just like when we think of this idea of repentance, the changing of our mind,

  39. before we believe in Jesus Christ, and even after.

  40. That we are continually being molded by the Lord every single day.

  41. And so today, we're going to see that this parable of the weeds, or the world of wheat and weeds,

  42. is very real for us today.

  43. There's a lot of connections in here, and if you look at your notes, you'll see there's quite a lot.

  44. But before we go to our notes, let's open the Word of God.

  45. Let's go to that next slide.

  46. It's going to be our scripture reading.

  47. I have the prayer before that.

  48. Go ahead and turn to page 973.

  49. It's going to be the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 13, verses 24 through 30.

    Matthew 13:24–30

  50. As we're turning there, let's pray.

  51. Let's ask for God to reveal truth, wisdom to us, and let transformation happen here.

  52. Father God, we thank you for this time and this opportunity for us to gather together.

  53. We realize and we recognize that we are in a world that is certainly messy.

  54. We live in this world where there's a lot of just strange things that are happening that we may not understand.

  55. But may we point to you.

  56. May we turn to you in times of crisis.

  57. Even when we become Christian and we believe in you and we're saved and we receive the free gift of salvation,

  58. may we trust in you and may we become more like you each and every day.

  59. Father, I pray that truth is spoken here

  60. and that every single person will know that they are loved by you no matter who they are,

  61. where they come from,

  62. when or where they're watching this,

  63. or whatever life is throwing at them,

  64. that they are loved by you.

  65. You call, you send us this invitation,

  66. Father, to receive the free gift of salvation

  67. so that we can be saved and upon that salvation we can grow in you

  68. and become more like you.

  69. So we pray that our ears are open to hear,

  70. our hearts are ready to love,

  71. live in love,

  72. and our minds are open to learn from the word this morning.

  73. It is in the name of Jesus that we pray and we all say together,

  74. can I get an amen?

  75. So let's go to that next slide then.

  76. That should have...

  77. Oh, we don't have that.

  78. That's okay.

  79. So the Gospel of Matthew,

  80. let's go back to that title slide if we can.

  81. We had previously the parable,

  82. the purpose of parables, right?

  83. The parable of the sower,

  84. where we learned about the four soils

  85. and how important it is

  86. that our hearts are right with the Lord,

  87. that we receive the seed representing the word,

  88. and that it gets planted into our hearts and it grows.

  89. You have a lot of agricultural language, as it were,

  90. to grow and to bear fruit.

  91. How important it is for us to receive the word.

  92. How important it is for us to grow in the Lord

  93. and to bear fruit.

  94. And so we go into verse 24 then of Matthew chapter 13.

    Matthew 13 chapter mention

  95. Are we all there?

  96. Are we all ready to read together?

  97. So it goes off by saying,

  98. He put another parable before them,

  99. saying,

  100. The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man

  101. who sowed good seed in his field.

  102. While his men were sleeping,

  103. his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat

  104. and went away.

  105. So when the plants came up and bore again,

  106. the weeds appeared also.

  107. And the servants of the master of the house

  108. came to him and said,

  109. What?

  110. Master, did you not sow good seed in your field?

  111. How then does it have weeds?

  112. I mean, I'd like to know too, right?

  113. If you were planting a garden,

  114. you have all these weeds,

  115. you're planting a tomato garden,

  116. or you're planting, you know, apricots or something,

  117. or any sort of plant.

  118. What are all these weeds doing here?

  119. He said to them,

  120. An enemy has done this.

  121. So the servant said to him,

  122. Then do you want us to go and gather them?

  123. But he said, No,

  124. lest in gathering the weeds

  125. you root up the wheat along with them.

  126. Let both grow together until the harvest.

  127. And at the harvest time,

  128. I will tell the reapers,

  129. Gather the weeds first

  130. and bind them into bundles to be burned,

  131. but gather the wheat into where?

  132. My barn.

  133. Now,

  134. here is where we go into the mustard seed.

  135. We're skipping that this time.

  136. We're going to go into that in another week,

  137. two weeks from now.

  138. Okay?

  139. So then it goes into verse 36.

  140. I mean, you can even look at verse 34, right?

  141. All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables.

  142. He said nothing to them without a parable.

  143. This was to fill what was spoken by the prophet.

  144. I will open my mouth in parables.

  145. I will utter what has been hidden

  146. since the foundation of the world.

  147. This goes to show the power

  148. and yet the simplicity of parables.

  149. Verse 36.

  150. Then he left the crowds and went into the house,

  151. and his disciples came to him, saying,

  152. Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.

  153. I'd like to know, right?

  154. And he answered,

  155. The one who sows good seed is who?

  156. The son of man.

  157. The field is the what?

  158. The world.

  159. The good seed is the sons of the kingdom.

  160. And the weeds are the sons of who?

  161. The evil one.

  162. And the enemy who sowed them is the devil.

  163. The harvest is the end of the age.

  164. And the reapers are who?

  165. The angels.

  166. Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire,

  167. so will it be at the end of the age.

  168. The son of man will send his angels,

  169. and they will gather out of his kingdom

  170. all causes of sin and lawbreakers.

  171. And throw them into the fiery furnace.

  172. This gets to really heavy language.

  173. Let's be honest here, right?

  174. Throw them into the fiery furnace.

  175. In that place there will be the weeping

  176. and the gnashing of teeth.

  177. Then the righteous will shine like the sun

  178. in the kingdom of their father.

  179. He who has ears, let him hear.

  180. And so in your notes here,

  181. it's kind of a breakdown of what's happening.

  182. It's on the first page here, right?

  183. So we have the sower, God,

  184. who plants the good seed, right?

  185. The word into the field, into the world.

  186. You can get this kind of imagery that's happening here.

  187. Then you have the enemy sows the weeds among the field.

  188. Sin.

  189. You're seeing the entrance of sin.

  190. And those who reject God.

  191. Among the wheat, the children of God.

  192. The workers, you have the angels,

  193. ask if they should pull up the weeds.

  194. The sower tells them to let them grow together

  195. and tell the harvest, tell the judgment.

  196. And at the harvest, the weeds,

  197. the judgment on sin are burned

  198. and the wheat believers are gathered into the barn.

  199. And you'll see a lot of scripture verses.

  200. I challenge you, check those verses out.

  201. You will see how embedded in such a simple parable,

  202. you're seeing something here that's very deep

  203. and hidden, as it were.

  204. So let's go to this next slide.

  205. One of the things you can notice here

  206. is that there is,

  207. this actually shows us,

  208. in a very simplistic way,

  209. the story of redemption.

  210. If we think about it,

  211. the sower plants good seed.

  212. Doesn't God created the world and made it good?

  213. Then, the enemy sows weed,

  214. representing sin among the wheat.

  215. Isn't that interesting?

  216. That's where we have the fall.

  217. Now redemption then,

  218. we have Jesus Christ who comes in.

  219. From redemption

  220. comes this time period

  221. where the wheat and the weeds,

  222. they grow together.

  223. And it's giving them time.

  224. And that's interesting

  225. because we've found

  226. in a lot of the other parables,

  227. there's a time that's allotted

  228. before the master returns

  229. or before the bridegroom returns,

  230. signifying that there's a specific amount of time

  231. for you to come to know Jesus.

  232. For you to turn to him

  233. before it's too late.

  234. And this is showing

  235. in the redemption part,

  236. giving time.

  237. And then of course,

  238. you have restoration

  239. or you could call that judgment

  240. and then restoration.

  241. The harvest separates the weeds

  242. and the wheat.

  243. And it's so fascinating

  244. when we look at it like that.

  245. We have kind of an echo,

  246. as it were,

  247. of the story

  248. throughout all of Scripture,

  249. the gospel connection

  250. with the parable.

  251. And so this is simple,

  252. yet it's complex.

  253. There's all these verses

  254. that are connected into it.

  255. So what can we learn from this?

  256. Well, the first thing

  257. that we can learn

  258. is that,

  259. let's go to that next slide,

  260. is that we live

  261. in a world

  262. of weeds and wheat.

  263. We think about it.

  264. In Matthew 5,

    Matthew 5:45

  265. verse 45,

  266. it goes on to say,

  267. He causes His Son

  268. to rise on evil

  269. and the good.

  270. In Romans,

  271. Romans chapter 8,

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  272. there's a section in here

  273. where it's mentioning

  274. that creation is groaning

  275. and waiting for redemption.

  276. Isn't that interesting?

  277. And we have to think

  278. to ourselves

  279. when we're learning

  280. this lesson is,

  281. well, then how can

  282. we faithfully live

  283. while we're surrounded

  284. by weeds?

  285. Right?

  286. You get this image.

  287. Many of you,

  288. you guys have,

  289. some of you guys,

  290. I'm not going to say

  291. all of you,

  292. but some of you guys

  293. have gardened before.

  294. Sometimes you have weeds

  295. that just come out

  296. of nowhere.

  297. Is it a frustrating thing

  298. or has that never

  299. happened before?

  300. Right?

  301. Where did this weed

  302. come from?

  303. Why is it here?

  304. It's going to destroy

  305. whatever plant

  306. that I've put there.

  307. It's a very frustrating thing.

  308. And we see this kind

  309. of connection

  310. with God

  311. looking at the world

  312. and giving time

  313. to happen.

  314. Much like how we live

  315. in this world

  316. where there is sin,

  317. there is brokenness,

  318. there is those

  319. that are saved

  320. and those who,

  321. well, you have those

  322. that are not believers yet.

  323. That's why it's so important

  324. for us to spread

  325. the gospel message

  326. to other people.

  327. how can you live

  328. faithfully

  329. while surrounded

  330. by brokenness

  331. and sin?

  332. You continue

  333. in your walk

  334. in the Lord

  335. knowing that

  336. no matter what happens,

  337. no matter what sin

  338. or brokenness,

  339. your faith

  340. is in the living God.

  341. Not in man,

  342. not in a government,

  343. not in TikTok,

  344. but in God.

  345. Let us be reminded

  346. of that.

  347. Despite what happens

  348. in our culture,

  349. despite what happens

  350. in the world,

  351. we trust

  352. in the living God.

  353. The second thing

  354. is

  355. the Lord

  356. is patient

  357. and His will prevails.

  358. Let's go back.

  359. It's still that same thing.

  360. That's all right.

  361. His will prevails.

  362. We are to trust

  363. in 2 Peter 3,

    2 Peter 3:9

  364. verse 9.

  365. It says that

  366. the Lord

  367. is patient,

  368. not wanting

  369. anyone

  370. to perish.

  371. And that's a very

  372. powerful thing

  373. because God

  374. gives us time

  375. for us

  376. to come to Him.

  377. Not forever,

  378. but enough time.

  379. Enough time

  380. from what

  381. He decides

  382. is appropriate.

  383. Isn't it amazing

  384. to know

  385. that the God

  386. who created

  387. heavens and earth

  388. gives us

  389. not only an opportunity

  390. to be restored

  391. unto Him,

  392. but to return

  393. into His presence

  394. to be saved

  395. and He gives us

  396. that choice

  397. and He gives us

  398. time to do so?

  399. Every single day,

  400. if you are not

  401. a believer,

  402. is an opportunity

  403. for you

  404. to come to Jesus.

  405. And for us

  406. that are in the church,

  407. those who are saved,

  408. grow and act

  409. upon your faith.

  410. Be transformed.

  411. Let God work

  412. in and through you,

  413. putting on the new self,

  414. setting aside

  415. the elementary things

  416. that divide us.

  417. Doing good

  418. in the name of Christ.

  419. We can think of

  420. sharing the gospel story

  421. with our friends

  422. and our families,

  423. being ambassadors

  424. for Christ

  425. in our everyday lives.

  426. Our work,

  427. our school,

  428. right?

  429. Our very families.

  430. We think of

  431. all these things.

  432. Sharing in our testimony

  433. and how God

  434. has worked in our life.

  435. Or sometimes

  436. it's just

  437. being a listening ear.

  438. You know,

  439. I've had this conversation

  440. with many people.

  441. the church

  442. exists

  443. for those

  444. who are churched

  445. to grow,

  446. right?

  447. You have

  448. to follow

  449. God's mission

  450. and God's purpose

  451. and plan for you.

  452. But you also have

  453. the church

  454. for the unchurched,

  455. those who are yet

  456. to believe,

  457. those who do not believe

  458. and they don't

  459. understand yet.

  460. And finally,

  461. the church exists

  462. for the de-churched,

  463. for healing

  464. and restoration,

  465. recovery.

  466. Because let's face it,

  467. for many of us,

  468. we get hurt

  469. at times.

  470. Sometimes we get hurt

  471. by the world,

  472. sometimes we get hurt

  473. by other Christians

  474. and we have to remember,

  475. we have got to allow

  476. for the healing process

  477. to happen,

  478. much like we've got to allow

  479. for the growth process.

  480. People need a place

  481. to belong.

  482. People need a place

  483. to heal.

  484. And people need a place

  485. to grow

  486. where they can act

  487. upon their faith,

  488. becoming the man

  489. or the woman

  490. that God has for them.

  491. Finally,

  492. the third thing

  493. that we can learn

  494. is that the final judgment

  495. belongs to who?

  496. Not man.

  497. Not a government.

  498. Certainly not an app,

  499. right?

  500. I know I'm,

  501. that's,

  502. we have to think

  503. about that.

  504. In Romans chapter 12,

    Romans 12:19

  505. verse 19,

  506. there's a verse in there

  507. that we can think of.

  508. This is hard.

  509. When it says,

  510. don't take revenge,

  511. leave room

  512. for God's wrath

  513. or God's judgment.

  514. When someone does us wrong,

  515. we want to attack.

  516. More often than not,

  517. let's be honest here.

  518. You've wanted to retaliate.

  519. You don't have to raise your hand.

  520. I know I have.

  521. But you're offering it to God.

  522. Let God be the judge.

  523. I certainly don't want

  524. to be the judge.

  525. You know how hard it is

  526. for us to forgive,

  527. let alone forget,

  528. and knowing that God forgives you

  529. and He loves you

  530. and He gives you a chance

  531. to come to Him

  532. every single day.

  533. Think about that.

  534. I know I couldn't do that.

  535. That's,

  536. goes to show the power

  537. and the patience

  538. of our God

  539. and

  540. ask yourself,

  541. what does it look like

  542. to leave

  543. judgment for God

  544. rather than you taking it

  545. upon yourself

  546. to retaliate,

  547. right?

  548. And it also

  549. challenges us

  550. in how we see

  551. the weeds.

  552. We think of the weeds

  553. representing,

  554. now if we go back

  555. for a second here,

  556. when we learned

  557. about the four soils,

  558. we learned about

  559. the presence

  560. of the weeds

  561. where the seed

  562. was being planted

  563. into the ground.

  564. When we think of weeds,

  565. we can think of

  566. two things here.

  567. The presence of sin

  568. just period,

  569. but also

  570. for sinners,

  571. those who don't know

  572. the Lord.

  573. We have to focus

  574. on our own growth,

  575. but we have to

  576. scatter the seed

  577. as it were

  578. so that other hearts,

  579. because not only

  580. do you see the field

  581. representing the world,

  582. we have seen

  583. in other parables,

  584. the field represents

  585. our hearts.

  586. We allow for God

  587. to transform us.

  588. And here's the

  589. amazing thing.

  590. Let's go

  591. to the application.

  592. So I've got to tell you,

  593. this is heavy stuff.

  594. A lot of times

  595. when this parable

  596. is preached,

  597. it's like,

  598. you're either a weed

  599. or you're wheat,

  600. and it's a done deal.

  601. But do you know

  602. what's missing

  603. in that section?

  604. Is that there's a call

  605. for the weeds

  606. to come to Christ,

  607. because God

  608. makes things new.

  609. Think about that.

  610. Were you not

  611. a sinner

  612. at one point?

  613. We still sin, right?

  614. All fall short

  615. of the glory of God,

  616. but it's a call.

  617. Think about it.

  618. Create in me

  619. a new heart,

  620. O God,

  621. and renew

  622. a right spirit

  623. within me.

  624. Think about

  625. for a second

  626. how

  627. if anyone

  628. is in Christ,

  629. he is a what?

  630. A new creation.

  631. Do you see it?

  632. Do you understand?

  633. That we go

  634. from weeds

  635. to wheat.

  636. That it is God

  637. who transforms us.

  638. Removing the sin.

  639. That's when we think

  640. about the gospel message.

  641. the death,

  642. burial,

  643. and resurrection

  644. of Jesus Christ.

  645. This is a call.

  646. If you are a weed,

  647. come to the Lord

  648. and be transformed

  649. and be saved.

  650. Become a wheat.

  651. You can't do that

  652. on your own.

  653. That requires

  654. the Lord.

  655. And the thing is,

  656. it's a call for us

  657. to come to God

  658. as we are.

  659. You hear many churches

  660. say that, right?

  661. I hope all churches

  662. should say that.

  663. Come as you are

  664. and be transformed, though.

  665. Not come as you are

  666. and remain as you are.

  667. Be transformed.

  668. And even if you are saved,

  669. continue to be transformed.

  670. That's the thing.

  671. We don't just

  672. come and remain

  673. as we are.

  674. We are transformed

  675. every single day.

  676. God invites us

  677. and he turns us,

  678. let me make this

  679. crystal clear,

  680. we go from,

  681. remember when we went

  682. over Ezra?

  683. The vessels that were

  684. transferred,

  685. they were transported

  686. from the place

  687. they didn't belong

  688. to the place

  689. they belong.

  690. Here we have

  691. another layer here.

  692. Going from a weed

  693. to wheat

  694. because God

  695. takes that

  696. which is broken

  697. and restores it.

  698. You find this

  699. as a pattern

  700. through all of Scripture.

  701. and if we just say

  702. you're either a wheat

  703. or a weed

  704. and that's it,

  705. there's nothing you can do,

  706. we're missing the mark here.

  707. We're missing the point here

  708. that God calls us

  709. to be transformed.

  710. Now, yeah,

  711. it's heavy to think

  712. about the judgment

  713. and the throwing

  714. away of the weeds.

  715. But that's why

  716. it's so important

  717. for us

  718. to come to know Christ.

  719. So for the weeds,

  720. if you are one,

  721. come to Christ.

  722. Receive that invitation,

  723. that free gift

  724. of salvation.

  725. And the second thing then,

  726. for the wheat,

  727. if you are saved,

  728. is to what?

  729. Grow in Christ

  730. and live out the faith.

  731. Be more like Him.

  732. Right?

  733. And wait patiently

  734. for the harvest.

  735. We continue

  736. every single day

  737. we have the opportunity

  738. to scatter the seed

  739. as it were.

  740. That starts

  741. with relationships.

  742. It's not about

  743. being aggressive

  744. or pugnacious, right?

  745. I love that word,

  746. pugnacious.

  747. I think of a little

  748. pug dog, right?

  749. Being aggressive

  750. and angry, right?

  751. You've seen

  752. little pug dogs

  753. when they're angry, right?

  754. Or if that doesn't help,

  755. little chihuahuas, right?

  756. The smaller they are,

  757. the more aggressive

  758. they get.

  759. But in that,

  760. it's all about relationships

  761. that we have with others

  762. or that we cultivate

  763. with others.

  764. We build relationships

  765. and we live out

  766. the word.

  767. We live out

  768. following in the

  769. footsteps of Christ,

  770. being an example

  771. for others to see

  772. because how many times

  773. have you met someone

  774. who is a Christian

  775. and you're like,

  776. I know they're a Christian

  777. and there's no doubt

  778. about it.

  779. I don't know why,

  780. I don't know how,

  781. but there's something

  782. different about them.

  783. You want to live

  784. and follow

  785. in the footsteps

  786. of Christ like that.

  787. Being a light

  788. unto the world.

  789. Being salt,

  790. right?

  791. Salt and light.

  792. And we think about that.

  793. We scatter the seeds.

  794. Now, for some of us,

  795. it can be frustrating.

  796. I've talked, you know,

  797. you talk to your sister

  798. or you talk to your uncle

  799. or you talk to your neighbor

  800. about the Lord,

  801. you know,

  802. every week

  803. and they don't get it.

  804. You still scatter the seed.

  805. Still scatter the seed.

  806. Pray for them.

  807. Pray for hardened hearts,

  808. changed minds,

  809. changed attitudes,

  810. a renewed spirit,

  811. the softening of the heart.

  812. And what if today

  813. is the day you let God

  814. transform your life

  815. and make you new?

  816. Think about that

  817. as one question.

  818. The other question

  819. I want you to think about,

  820. what does it mean

  821. for you to grow in Christ

  822. even in difficult circumstances?

  823. What we seem to forget

  824. at times is

  825. we grow

  826. and we bear fruit.

  827. It's when you're very early on.

  828. That's where the whole,

  829. well, what about the rocks?

  830. What about the rocks?

  831. What about the obstacle?

  832. What about the sins?

  833. As you grow,

  834. you become more firmly rooted

  835. in God.

  836. Just like how we learn

  837. about Christ

  838. being the firm foundation

  839. and building our house

  840. upon the solid rock

  841. and not the sand.

  842. Do you see how

  843. things get connected

  844. with each other?

  845. That's why it's so important

  846. for us to look

  847. at the context

  848. and connections.

  849. We can see

  850. sometimes we have to

  851. wrestle with the text

  852. and that's okay.

  853. Sometimes we have questions

  854. and we're not understanding things.

  855. That's okay as well.

  856. That's part of the growing process.

  857. I mean,

  858. didn't you fall a few times

  859. when you began to walk?

  860. Probably too many, right?

  861. Some of us more than others.

  862. How many times

  863. did you fall off a bike

  864. before you figured it out, right?

  865. That's how it is

  866. when we're growing

  867. as a Christian,

  868. as believers,

  869. as ambassadors for Christ.

  870. We're going to stumble

  871. and fall sometimes,

  872. but we continue on that,

  873. knowing that God

  874. is our firm foundation.

  875. So that's how things

  876. are connected.

  877. So we grow

  878. and we live out the faith,

  879. become more like Him.

  880. Wait,

  881. we wait for the harvest

  882. and we scatter the seed

  883. to others.

  884. We minister.

  885. We evangelize.

  886. We let God transform hearts

  887. because look,

  888. I can't control my kids,

  889. you guys.

  890. I can't.

  891. Okay?

  892. I got to be honest here.

  893. I can't control

  894. all five of my kids,

  895. but I can teach them

  896. and I can guide them.

  897. It's the same thing

  898. with my wife.

  899. I can't control her, right?

  900. I know a lot of us

  901. would like to control

  902. our spouses,

  903. I admit.

  904. But in that,

  905. you scatter the seed.

  906. Let it take root.

  907. Again,

  908. we pray

  909. for those,

  910. we minister,

  911. we evangelize,

  912. and we let God

  913. transform the heart.

  914. That's how things

  915. are so connected.

  916. When we think

  917. in John 15, 5,

  918. if you remain in me

  919. and I in you,

  920. you will bear much fruit.

  921. We think of Matthew

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  922. chapter 28

  923. where it says

  924. to make disciples

  925. of all nations.

  926. Not only is the seed

  927. planted in our hearts,

  928. but it grows

  929. and it cultivates.

  930. And I love Isaiah 55,

  931. 10 to 11,

  932. my word will not

  933. return to me empty,

  934. but will accomplish

  935. what I desire.

  936. Let us think about

  937. all these

  938. and ask yourself

  939. this question,

  940. who in your life

  941. needs to hear

  942. about Christ?

  943. Who in your life

  944. do you need

  945. to pray about?

  946. Who is unchurched?

  947. Or who is

  948. de-churched?

  949. Right?

  950. We sometimes forget.

  951. We like to think

  952. of those who,

  953. and we should,

  954. our primary objective

  955. is to get people

  956. to believe in Christ,

  957. but what about those

  958. that have been hurt?

  959. What about those

  960. who've been discouraged

  961. or disgruntled?

  962. They need Christ

  963. just as well,

  964. and they need

  965. the healing power

  966. that comes from Him.

  967. You know,

  968. it really hits home

  969. how many people

  970. that I personally know

  971. who have deconstructed

  972. and have left the faith

  973. because of some

  974. silly thing,

  975. some elementary thing.

  976. I pray for them,

  977. for their return,

  978. knowing that

  979. God loves them.

  980. This is why

  981. it's so important,

  982. again,

  983. we place our faith

  984. and our trust

  985. in the living God.

  986. Not on man,

  987. because man will fail you.

  988. How many of us

  989. know that to be true?

  990. Man fails us.

  991. God doesn't.

  992. That's why we have

  993. so many verses

  994. that say that God

  995. is the same yesterday,

  996. today,

  997. and what?

  998. Forever.

  999. Or everlasting

  1000. to everlasting,

  1001. you are God.

  1002. Or when we think

  1003. about God

  1004. as the solid rock,

  1005. we certainly need

  1006. a constant

  1007. in our life.

  1008. And so ask yourself,

  1009. who in your life

  1010. needs to hear about

  1011. Christ this week?

1012. How can you be faithful

  1013. in scattering the seed?

  1014. That's a question for you

1015. as we close our time today.

  1016. Whether you feel like,

  1017. maybe you identify

  1018. as a weed,

1019. let this be a call

1020. for you to come to Christ

  1021. and put off

  1022. the old self.

1023. When you think of a weed,

  1024. we think of like

1025. a hairy and thorny plant.

  1026. It's quite disgusting

1027. when you think about it,

  1028. right?

1029. Put off the old self

  1030. and become wheat.

  1031. Become restored.

  1032. And for those

  1033. who are wheat,

1034. the call is the same.

1035. Trust in the living God,

  1036. grow in faith,

  1037. and scatter the seed

  1038. of the gospel

  1039. wherever you go.

  1040. Let us remember

  1041. this parable

  1042. and how it's connected

  1043. not only with

  1044. the story of redemption,

  1045. but how God

  1046. transforms lives,

1047. taking that which is broken

  1048. and restoring

  1049. and renewing it.

  1050. Let's pray together.

  1051. Father God,

  1052. we thank you

  1053. for this time,

  1054. this opportunity

  1055. for us to

  1056. open your word

  1057. and to study it.

  1058. We have observed,

  1059. we have learned

  1060. so many lessons.

  1061. And I pray, Father,

1062. if there are any weeds here,

  1063. they will be transformed.

  1064. They will come

1065. to believe in Jesus Christ,

1066. the Son of the living God.

  1067. And we pray

  1068. for the wheat here.

  1069. They will grow.

  1070. They will bear fruit,

  1071. just as your word

  1072. says so much.

  1073. And Father,

1074. I also would like to pray

  1075. for any person

  1076. who has deconstructed

  1077. or anyone who's been

  1078. hurt by the church,

  1079. whether they're here

  1080. or not.

  1081. I pray for healing

  1082. in their life.

  1083. Father,

1084. you call all of us

  1085. to gather together,

1086. to sing praises to you,

  1087. to assemble together

  1088. as the church.

  1089. And you have done

  1090. so much for us.

  1091. We pray

  1092. for the unchurched,

  1093. for a place

  1094. where they belong,

  1095. believing in you

  1096. and being established

  1097. in the church.

1098. We pray for the unchurched,

  1099. those that are disconnected,

  1100. disgruntled,

1101. or hurt in some capacity.

1102. And we pray for the churched

  1103. to continue to grow

1104. and to go on their mission,

  1105. to make disciples,

  1106. to scatter the seed,

1107. and to become more like you

  1108. every single day.

1109. It is in the name

  1110. of Jesus Christ,

  1111. the cornerstone

  1112. of our faith,

  1113. that we pray.

1114. And we all say together,

1115. can I get an amen?

  1116. Amen.

  1117. Thank you for listening

  1118. for this week's message

  1119. from Ontario Community Church.

1120. I pray that you are

  1121. encouraged and strengthened

1122. in your walk with Christ.

  1127. May God bless you

  1128. as you live out

  1129. His grace and truth

  1130. every single day.

  1131. NINGNING
