Good morning. How are you
-
all? It's beautiful day today. Even
-
though it was cold, but now it's
-
beautiful sun, light and sunny
-
morning. Then asked me two weeks ago to
-
speak one of the topic that we are
-
dealing with with this one another and
-
each other. And he gave me few topics.
-
So I
-
The topic is live in peace and harmony
-
with one another. I mean that is the
-
other the heading and today I want to
-
speak about how we can maintain
-
peace.
-
Yeah. As the world getting more
-
knowledge and advanced the peace is
-
something that is lacking something is
-
missing. In olden's day there was
-
no technologies there was no any
-
advanced I mean technology or anything
-
like that but people were living very
-
peacefully you know see in olden day in
-
one place
-
dis very hard because people were not
-
traveling there was but did this you can
-
have lunch in Australia
-
Breakfast in New Zealand and dinner can
-
you can have in America. So the world is
-
changed. So that's what the pieces as we
-
see in our age did this. It's very
-
very hard to maintain peace. But in the
-
midst of this God is saying that Jesus
-
is said that you have to be the peace
-
maker. So Before we go, let's look to
-
God in prayer and we will
-
start. Dear heavenly father, we thank
-
you for this morning. Lord God, as your
-
holy words, we are going to read and to
-
meditate. I we want your holy spirit to
-
intervene in this very moment. Speak to
-
us clearly what you want to speak Lord
-
God and change our life that we can live
-
according to your words Lord God.
-
Holy Spirit, you are the speaker in this
-
morning. We invite you once again. You
-
rectify our life. You refresh our
-
thinking and lead us in everlasting way.
-
Let your presence be here. In Jesus name
-
I pray. Amen.
-
This is the scripture that was given to
-
me. There were three scripture. Live in
-
harmony with one another. Do not be
-
proud but be willing to associate with
-
people of low position. Do not do not be
-
conceded. Many time we do have a
-
relationship with whom we like.
-
The people will who are
-
in good to us, we also good to them and
-
there are people also they make friend
-
who can climb them in their
-
position. But Jesus demonstrate and
-
taught us that we should treat all
-
people with respect. those who are in
-
those who are in different stress with
-
the disability with those are poor or
-
young or old male or
-
female. In this very verse Paul says
-
that we need to live we need to live in
-
harmony with one another not to be too
-
proud and not to be I mean to enjoy the
-
the company of ordinary people.
-
Sometime it is very very hard but
-
we
-
first chapter 5
-
verse 13 it says that hold them in the
-
highest regard in love because of their
-
work live in peace with each other
-
that's what I'm going to speak today
-
live in peace with each other and
-
Markapter
-
9. This is very
-
interesting. He said you are the salt of
-
this world, isn't it? And it says salt
-
is good, but it loses it saltiness. How
-
can you make it salty again? Have salt
-
among yourself and be at peace with each
-
other.
-
You are the salt. Actually I have
-
preached some time ago in the in
-
India. I was back long ago how the salt
-
came and all and what the value of the
-
salt those days there was in the world
-
there was
-
salt smuggling it was prison.
-
still probably
-
and in the Romans time it seems their
-
wages also were
-
paid something is saying about the salt
-
you know and he is illustrating the
-
quality of in the salt
-
We should make difference in the flavor
-
of the world we
-
live. And the salt has to get into the
-
food.
-
Then food is so nice.
-
Especially
-
Indians very tasty
-
because lot of salt. If you cook, how
-
beautiful also if there is no salt.
-
many
-
moment you guys are
-
health. So you don't eat much salt or
-
else we eat everything with salt. Yeah,
-
that's what they and this salt is
-
preserve you know they put the salt like
-
olden day they want to preserve anything
-
they put salt. So what it means that we
-
should counteract the moral decay in
-
society just as the salt reserve from
-
food decay. So the salt can salt be
-
expired
-
because the salt can be louses.
-
ing our life being a Christian being a
-
soul if we you know don't preserve our
-
society we have to bring that the flavor
-
of our life that's what it says here in
-
Matthew chapter 9 so Matthew 5:E9 it
Matthew 9 chapter mention
-
says that blessed are the peacemaker for
-
they will be called children of
-
God this also the word of Jesus blessed
-
are the peacemaker for they will be
-
called children of God. So peacemaker in
-
this world it is very hard but I will
-
give you hint that we will see life of
-
David
-
later the whom we worship he is a god of
-
peace in Hebrew 13 it says we read that
-
the god of peace that is the father god
-
and we see Jesus Christ is the prince of
-
peace
-
We see that the Holy Spirit is
-
the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Holy
-
Spirit is peace. We we are not only
-
worship the time God who is the peace
-
but we are
-
also live in peace. We are not only and
-
not only we live the peace but we also
-
to make the peace. We have to be a
-
peacekeeper.
-
When the Bible said blessed are the
-
peacemaker
-
he will be a situation in our life and
-
where we will have to encounter trouble
-
and discord that is why Jesus said we
-
have to be peace maker because to live
-
in peace it's very hard but there is a
-
few tips and we will see soonuses
-
was not talking having peace or making
-
peace with creation or specifically
-
hecially mentioned in the human
-
relationship. We must understand that
-
our lord is author of all
-
rel throughout the bible we see that the
-
relationship The unity the harmony the
-
Bible glorified that's
-
what John 17 of Jesus Jesus earnestly he
-
pray that all should be united all
-
should be one as the father and
-
son
-
using we live in harmony we live in
-
peace and eccles
-
4 verse 10 to
-
12. Yeah, it says
-
that if either of them fall, one can
-
help
-
other pity anyone who falls and has no
-
one to help them up. Also, if lie down
-
together, they will keep warm. But how
-
can one keep warm alone?
-
Though one may be overpowered, two can
-
defend themselves. A court of three
-
stand. If we read this entire passage,
-
we find at least three advantage of
-
having people in our life or uh the with
-
the people around that we have
-
relationship. The Bible talk about
-
having
-
rel with other. It is a
-
profitable. It is a good reward for
-
their effort. Verse 11 says that when
-
people are together they will be warm.
-
What it means that give a pleasure. And
-
the verse 12 it says that when people
-
are together it makes them powerful.
-
together they will be able to withstand
-
that's what Bible keeps saying
-
even 133
-
verse1 it says that how good and
-
pleasant it is when people meet together
-
in unity and the
-
third there the Lord bestows his
-
blessing ever
-
theological we
-
understand I don't know how many of you
-
it's a really practical sense accept
-
that or
-
agree being together having fellowship
-
having interpersonal relationship is
-
pleasurable but
-
relment fight takes place and lot of
-
issue takes
-
Even from the Bible we see that the
-
family in the Bible two
-
brother just a small family two brother
-
and their relationship ended in murder
-
that's why and there so many scripture
-
that we can see
-
that how we can live in
-
harmony and the Psalms 33 as we
-
As we read there, David stated that
-
harmony is pleasant and precious. Living
-
harmony does not require us to agree on
-
everything. We must agree in our
-
purpose. Our purpose. We must agree in
-
our purpose in life to work together for
-
God. Our outward expression of our
-
harmony.
-
with harmony we reflect our inward
-
harmony and purpose. Our purpose you
-
know we may not agree everything but our
-
purpose is to bring glory to God but the
-
family if we talk about family how the
-
families are each other I mean how good
-
they live in peace each other and the
-
workplace workplace you think oh I'm not
-
you know When I talk to the family, if
-
you ask somebody, oh, how is your
-
married life? Some people they may
-
say, well, while I was not married, I
-
had a really great peace. I lost
-
that. Yeah. Yeah. And if you if you
-
think of workplace relationship and
-
peace that is again very different. You
-
go to work but really your mind is not
-
there because of some people or some
-
situation. I have encountered that many
-
time in my life but I kept my mouth
-
quiet and when it yeah there is
-
particular one incident recent not
-
recently three four month ago uh it was
-
afternoon shift and this lady she was on
-
a side room then my nurse manager called
-
can you move her side room to a bay
-
because her uh test is come she is not
-
positive all right I talked to there.
-
Oh, we have to move you. Sorry. And
-
because there is somebody needed the
-
side room, the infectious patient is
-
coming. She said, "All right." So I
-
thought she's happy. She didn't say any
-
angry to show me or
-
anything. We move her. The next day,
-
from next day on until she discharged,
-
she kept saying other that bastard
-
boy. Sorry to say that word,
-
but he he he moved me from that that
-
single room. Then all other nurse they
-
kept saying me she is like this to you
-
see every day somebody say to me she
-
told like this to me she told like then
-
still I act like as it is I don't know
-
anything acting everything's well and I
-
don't want to go and discuss sorry it's
-
not not me it was the boss I don't want
-
to discuss I don't want to bring up
-
again so it's quite quiet quiet but one
-
day she she told I'm very
-
Sorry. What happened? No, I said very
-
bad about you to every nurses. I'm very
-
sorry. That
-
was I felt all right. I kept my mouth
-
and here we go. So that the workplace
-
relationship you know when it come to
-
Christian Christian relationship in the
-
book of Corinthians we say that Paul's
-
writing some says that I follow Paul and
-
another some says that I follow Apollos
-
and and some say that I follow I follow
-
Kas and other the super spiritual we
-
follow Christ. So there was also mis I
-
mean there was the brokenness of unity
-
the disharmony you know there's no unity
-
in in book of acts the great
-
um preacher Paul's Paul Paul had a great
-
disagreement with Barnabas because on
-
their journey Barnabas wanted to take
-
John Mark but Paul don't want to take
-
because previous he deserted them so he
-
don't want to take them But from there
-
they had such a sharp disagreement that
-
they parted their company. So it is
-
there it is always there. But in the
-
midst of this chaos mid of this uh um
-
peaceless world how do we maintain say
-
if if we don't want to if we don't
-
became a peacemaker sometime we will be
-
uh heading toward the destruction.
-
Becoming peacemaker is not an option but
-
it is a necessity in our now in our
-
time. Now the question is how to make
-
peace. I will take I have got I mean few
-
point but a particular I want to speak
-
two or three point at least. Matthew
-
chapter 5
-
verse 23 we will read there first.
-
Yeah. 23 and 24. Therefore, if you are
-
offering your gift at the altar and
-
there remember that your brother or
-
sister has something against you, your
-
gift
-
there, your gift there in front of the
-
leave in front of the altar. First go
-
and be reconciled to them, then come and
-
offer your gift.
-
So here we see our broken relationship
-
can hinder a a personal relations with
-
God means God prefer that our
-
relationship first with the people that
-
we live around with. Here it says about
-
the brother's brother. The issue here is
-
about dealing with brother to brother.
-
In their relations there is no peace. Of
-
course even though there is no peace
-
still life goes on and you are not in
-
the risk of in imprisoned or you are not
-
um to you're not standing in front of
-
judge or you are not going to pay any
-
fine. But it goes on. But in 25 as we
-
read it says that settle matter quickly
-
with your adversary who
-
is taking you to court. Do it while you
-
are still together on the way or your
-
adversary may hand you over to judge and
-
the judge may hand you over the officer
-
and you may be thrown into prison. What
-
it means that there is hardly any time
-
left when you have to make to peace with
-
adversary. Here is a quick here it it
-
says that say the quick settlement with
-
your adversary while you are even on the
-
way with him. If you delay making peace
-
and further is going to be very cost. In
-
this passage Jesus is mentioning a
-
particular group of people because who
-
can take you to the court. uh I believe
-
this is some sort of uh the tremendous
-
influence people influence and affluence
-
people uh if you can't make peace
-
quickly they can pull
-
you want to be a peacemaker go for swift
-
settlement don't wait for the person to
-
approach you even while they are on the
-
way on road go and make peace there is a
-
classical example in the bible so
-
actually When Jesus said that on the way
-
actually this is something he was
-
talking about the uh the moneylander
-
money money lendlanders are they are
-
they could be they are very helpful and
-
they could be also very harsh they will
-
be very very bad as well but here you
-
are peaceful in Australia come to India
-
if you man money did this lot of houses
-
are locked even the bank is selling lot
-
of lot of lot of did this you know The
-
money particularly the money lender they
-
are good when they will help you in your
-
needs and when you are paying that time
-
sometime so many people they will bring
-
all this the politics they can they
-
knows to the money lender then these
-
people they will drag them to the court
-
hook or crook they will recover their
-
money. So what it means Jesus is saying
-
that the quick settlement a swift
-
settlement and there is a beautiful
-
scripture I mean the story it hope you
-
know this
-
story this is a story about Nabble and
-
David I'm not going to read all let me
-
just quickly try to explain you quickly
-
this is the story I mean where nobles
-
having the ship searing that time So
-
David sent his 10 mens. Noble is a great
-
rich man who had 3,000 sheep all very
-
rich man and uh where his sheepford
-
where his servant were tending the ship
-
the same area David was with his
-
soldier he was with 600 soldier that
-
area. So that's why the sheeper did not
-
lose any ship. So there was nothing
-
lost, no stolen, no eaten
-
by animals. So it was pretty good. It
-
was beautiful. So David as he heard that
-
noble having a searing so he sent 10
-
people to.
-
So
-
here if you
-
read so I want to go back to the
-
yeah when David men arrived they gave
-
Nabble oh sorry let me read while David
-
was in the wilderness he heard that
-
Nabble was selling sip so he sent 10
-
young
-
men and said to them go to Nabul at
-
Carmel and greet him in in my name. Say
-
to him, "Long life to you. Good health
-
to you and your household and good
-
health to all that is yours." Now I hear
-
that this is sip searing time. When your
-
shepherd were with us, we did not
-
misread them and the whole time they
-
were at Caramel. Nothing of their was
-
missing. Ask your own servant and they
-
will tell you. Therefore be favor
-
towards me men to my men since we come
-
at a festive time please give your
-
servant your son David whatever you can
-
find for them here David is requesting
-
and he requesting whatever you want to
-
give give us this is the festival season
-
and uh now if you go and we'll see what
-
the verse 10 he replied. Noble
-
replied. He answered to David's servant,
-
"Who is this David? Who is this son of
-
Jesse? Many servant are breaking away
-
from their masters did this. Why should
-
I take my bread and water and the meat I
-
have slaughtered for my ser and give it
-
to men coming from who knows where."
-
David's men turned around and went back.
-
when they arrived they reported
-
everything every word to David see the
-
way Nabble responding isn't it he could
-
have said sorry I can't give but he's
-
insulting
-
David and now David what he heard that
-
his straight he said now David said to
-
his men's he had 600 soldier with him
-
and Nabbles is only few servant there
-
and the ship and his wife and he but he
-
when he heard this insult word David
-
probably he got angry of course the
-
Bible doesn't say but he straight he
-
said each of you struck your sword so
-
they did and David strapped his own as
-
well and about 400 men went up with
-
David while 200 stay in the
-
supply this story is very interesting
-
because the
-
way nobles 's wife react to the problem
-
and while that is happening what the
-
Nibble said to his I mean to the servant
-
of David same time he had his servant as
-
well when they heard
-
that one of their soldiers run to
-
Abigail and said that the way Nbles has
-
responded to the request of David and
-
the his the servant also said to Abigail
-
These mens were good to us. They did not
-
mistreat. They did not harm
-
our and while they were with us, we did
-
not miss
-
anything. And uh the way he's
-
responding, it's troubles you know. Then
-
when Abigail heard that Abigail acted
-
quickly, it says that Samuel chapter 1,
-
Samuel 25, Abigail acted quickly. She
-
did not delay. She did not delay or she
-
did not sit down to think what to do.
-
But she acted quickly. She took 200 laps
-
and bread, two skins of wine, five dress
-
of sheep, five uh ses of roasted grain,
-
100 cake. I don't know how soon they
-
made all this food ready and she acted
-
so quickly and she hurried and she did
-
not wait for that to make a peace. We
-
have to be take initiative as being a
-
Christian. Jesus has done that isn't it?
-
Even on the cross there were two side
-
two tips. Another tip is asking I means
-
asking where you will be remember me and
-
Jesus said you will be in paradise but
-
another tip he said you save yourself.
-
We are dying our sin but you have
-
nothing done. You save your he is also
-
walking but Jesus in that moment he is
-
maintaining peace. I think something
-
that we should many time the flusts and
-
blood it is you know wanted to react
-
soon but hold on because we are
-
difference we are the salt of the world
-
we have to put this salt in people life
-
Abigail saw David and in the as
-
Abigail's going down she saw David and
-
it also says that she quickly got up
-
from the donkey mean she did not you Who
-
is that David? I don't know him. But
-
this wise woman so quickly settlement.
-
That's what I want to tell you today.
-
And the peace is there. And she fell at
-
the feet of David and pardon your
-
servant, she says, my lord. And let me
-
speak to you. Hear what your servant to
-
say. She met him on the way. She humbled
-
herself and she met him. Yeah. And the
-
last verse what the David says
-
that otherwise as the Lord the God of
-
Israel lives who has kept me from
-
harming you if you would have not
-
quickly you know if you had not come
-
quickly to meet me not one male
-
belonging to Neville would have been
-
left alive dre means what debut said you
-
have stopped me the blood
-
said it's you and now And finally she
-
says that he says that go home in peace.
-
I have heard your words and granted your
-
request. That's a
-
beautiful if you want to be peacemaker
-
we have to go for a quick settlement.
-
And there's one more story I want to
-
tell you that in 2 Samuel chapter 16
-
verse 5-11.
-
Yeah, here this
-
is this also probably you would know
-
this story. This is uh David is leaving
-
Jerusalem. The he's leaving his palace
-
and he is going away. He's running away
-
for his life because his son he wanted
-
to
-
war warage against David because he want
-
to be king. his son Abselum with the few
-
peoples few supporter he started wanted
-
to kill David and he wanted to be a king
-
so that's why David he's leaving the
-
city so David mood is not good I mean he
-
is on this war movement so he's leaving
-
city and while he was leaving on the way
-
he met this man called Sime and uh verse
-
says that okay Six said that he the
-
seaming pelted David and all the king's
-
officer with stone throw all the troops
-
and the special guard were on David's
-
right and left and he
-
cursed said get out get out you murderer
-
you scoundre the Lord has repaired you
-
for all the blood said in the house of
-
Saul and he also kept saying that you
-
have come to ruin because you are a
-
murderer and uh see he just he throw
-
some stone and mud on David and David
-
also he's not living by just by himself
-
he has his army with him and there is a
-
one particularly one army his name's
-
Abishai he said that why should this
-
dead dog curse my lord the king let me
-
go over and cut my head
-
job. David don't have to do anything. He
-
just stand yes then done the job. But
-
David, what the David says? But the king
-
said, "What did this have to do with
-
you, you son of Jerroa? If he is cursing
-
because the Lord said to him, curse him,
-
curse David, who can who can ask what to
-
do this?" David then said to Abby and
-
all his official, "My son, my own flesh
-
and blood, is trying to kill me. How
-
much more than this Benjamite, leave him
-
alone. Let him curse for the Lord has
-
told him
-
to." See, David, he is living with this
-
tension. His son is going to click, you
-
know, wanted to kill him and he want to
-
overtake his throne. And is this on the
-
way this single man nobody with him the
-
same man he is cursing David and not
-
only just a the abusing the words but he
-
abuses he you know he's trying to throw
-
the stone and the mud on David who is
-
David the
-
king this
-
is the first thing David um Se says you
-
are the bloodthirsty man brought about a
-
verbal and physical abuses such tension
-
situation and we find David is holding
-
his peace and making peace. Sometimes
-
several right men righteous men sometime
-
we have to go through this embarrassment
-
and same in life. So in this very moment
-
we can see this this silent
-
treatment the most effective treatment
-
you can give to your
-
enemies who would accuse you with no
-
reason don't say a war to silly people
-
don't start a second war because already
-
David is the first war is and don't want
-
another second one but just he in the
-
midst of that tension he don't do
-
anything to this man and
-
don't don't stop. And he did not stop
-
walking either. He kept walking. People
-
do you you keep walking. Keep walking.
-
Don't stop to those silly people who
-
throw mud and rocks at you. Keep on
-
walking sometime. It is just a
-
timing. See David, it's just a timing
-
for him. His son wanted to kill and this
-
guy is cursing. He is leaving his
-
palace. It's just the timing. But as he
-
perceive that insult, he perceivers that
-
mud and rock the pelted when he coming
-
back the same David as he coming back to
-
Jerusalem. You will see that in 2 Samuel
-
chapter 19 verse 18 to 20. This is the
-
fast men the sea may come and falling
-
face first um to the down asking
-
forgiveness do not kill my king look at
-
that David is sometime he is a
-
significance he is like a Jesus actually
-
he in our Christian life it's something
-
we we need like this how good to live
-
the in this world would be as she may
-
son of ger the judan he fell frustrated
-
before the king David and now he is
-
asking my lord do not hold me guilty do
-
not remember how your servant did wrong
-
on the day my lord you left Jerusalem
-
may the king put out of his mind and
-
David said today nobody will be killed
-
nobody will be killed no person will be
-
dead in Israel and he forgive him the
-
quick I mean the silent snub the silent
-
ignorant for the pill and the the for
-
the silly people the first point quick
-
settlement and the second is silent
-
ignorance just ignore those people who
-
is hurting you I mean without any reason
-
just say it is God has given you this
-
time that's your time that's what Jesus
-
said in the cross as well it is their
-
time to curse me. It is their time to
-
mock me. It's their time. It's their
-
time. That's okay. But when after three
-
days they
-
mocked, what happened? They're raising
-
Jesus there. Jesus is rose from the
-
dead. Who have mocked? What they would
-
have felt
-
that?
-
Wow. That is God. I did that. Isn't it?
-
That's what silence knob. And the last
-
one quickly I will say a quick
-
separation. In the story of Abraham and
-
Lot we know that these two they travel
-
together as God called Abraham to leave
-
his family his belong I mean everybody
-
and go to the land that I will show you.
-
God said to Abraham and Lot was with him
-
as well. And now there was a time Bible
-
says that the land could not sustain
-
them. Means they had their their
-
property is increased and they became
-
rich and the land became small probably.
-
They had a goat, they had a camel, they
-
had everything animal. So now there was
-
a quarrel between the servant. There was
-
no quarrel between the Abraham and Lord.
-
They were righteous people. They were
-
not quarreling. But the quarrel start
-
with the servant. Then Lord said let's
-
not quarrel in between as the quarrels
-
begin. Let's not be like that. Let's
-
departed. Let's separate you. If you go
-
right, I will go left. If you go, if you
-
go left, I will go right. And Abraham,
-
he accepted that. Abraham, he's a
-
righteous man. And he did not choose.
-
You follow me first, let me choose. No,
-
he gave everything. And separation many
-
time separation is we think the end of
-
peace. Isn't it? When we separate means
-
we think is that the end of peace. But
-
no that was in in the case of Abraham it
-
was not the end of peace because when
-
God appeared to Abraham to destroy the
-
gammorraha he prayed there is a
-
righteous people leave my family leave.
-
Do not destroy it. He prayed and not
-
only that when the other king comes and
-
attacked Lord and took all the belonging
-
Abraham ran after and fought and brought
-
it back. So many time living in separate
-
is not a end of peace. It is the better
-
way to leave peacefully. That's so this
-
three thing I want to say today to make
-
a peace quick settlement. Don't delay
-
and uh and don't um I mean ignore the
-
silly people and if needed leave
-
separate peacefully for God to bless
-
you. Many time God wanted to bless you
-
but the space is small. Maybe God
-
opening another way. That's what the
-
Bible we see that. May the wonderful
-
Lord bless us through this small setting
-
this morning. and
