  1. Welcome to the Cross Power Church podcast.

  2. You're listening to a service from our church in Campbell, TX.

  3. We pray this message strengthens your faith and points you to the

  4. cross. Now let's join the service.

  5. Have your bibles tonight. I'm going to be in the same

  6. scripture I've been for about four services now.

  7. Can't get off of it. Second Corinthians chapter 5,

    2 Corinthians 5:17

  8. verse 17. We ought to know this by now,

  9. huh? Anybody, everybody can quote it,

  10. right? I'm going to back up a few

  11. verses here to 12 and read, been a while since I've read the the

  12. first part of this and you know, this is setting here in Second

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  13. Corinthians chapter 5, just after the apostle Paul declares

  14. that we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and

  15. give an account for things done in the body, whether it's good

  16. or bad. A lot of people forget that.

  17. I think, I think a lot of preachers today are forgetting

  18. that if we're going to give an account for what we did in the

  19. body, how much more we're going to give an account for what we

  20. put over the Airways or we put in people's ear.

  21. That's not the truth. And I, yeah, I'm, I'm seeing it

  22. every day, every day. But in Second Corinthians

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  23. chapter 5 and verse 12, I'm going to be reading through 17,

  24. but I'm going to try to finish this up tonight.

  25. I know some of y'all's missed some services and it's, it's,

  26. it's hard to get 3 or 4, three or four series in a sermon and

  27. everybody here everything. So I am going to recap a little

  28. bit. But we've been talking about

  29. developing our new spirit. We have a new spirit or we

  30. should Amen when we come to Christ because 2nd Corinthians 5

  31. and 17, we're going to back up to 12.

  32. But it says, therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he's a new

  33. creation. Old things have passed away and

  34. behold, all things have become new.

  35. That's hard to find a life that all things become new.

  36. It doesn't mean the situation necessarily has changed and it's

  37. a new situation. We'll be waiting till Christ

  38. comes until we have our glorified body and we're in

  39. heaven for those some situations to change because people refuse

  40. to change. But it does say that that

  41. situation, somebody needs this tonight, that that situation

  42. that you're in or whatever that phase of life you're in right

  43. now, it can still become new to you.

  44. Amen. Because God can give you a new

  45. way to defeat that enemy. He can give you a new way to

  46. overcome that trial at that particular time in your life.

  47. And then it can become new very fast.

  48. Being new doesn't always mean it goes away.

  49. But in 2nd Corinthians 5 and 12, let's get what this says.

  50. It says, for we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give

  51. you opportunity to boast on our behalf that you may have an

  52. answer for those who boast in appearance.

  53. And I begin to read that and the Holy Spirit just begin to to

  54. flood me. There's a lot of people today,

  55. There's a lot of Christians today, There's a lot of churches

  56. today that focus on appearance and not in the heart.

  57. He says for if we are beside ourselves, it is for God.

  58. Really get what this means right here.

  59. Or if we are a sound mind, it is for you.

  60. For the love of Christ compels us.

  61. When you think about how much he loves you, and when you think

  62. about where he what, where you were when he came and got you,

  63. it should compel you. He says, because we judge thus,

  64. that if one man died talking about Christ for all men, I love

  65. what this says here, then all died.

  66. If one man died, he's saying we all should die right to the

  67. flesh. And he who died for all that,

  68. those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for

  69. him who died for them. And Rose again, what a powerful

  70. statement. It's very hard to find those

  71. today that aren't living for themselves.

  72. You don't believe me going to restaurant and just said it by

  73. yourself. You know, some people don't like

  74. to eat by their self. Anybody like that.

  75. They, you know, my wife, she doesn't like to go in and eat by

  76. herself. She just never has it.

  77. It's never bothered me. I can go in and if I'm hungry, I

  78. eat and it does and I listen, you know, and you going to

  79. places today and you just begin to listen.

  80. You hear boasting, you hear of the things that are going on in

  81. this life. And you man, I said across and

  82. the guy, I wasn't trying to listen in, but he was so loud

  83. and boisterous, I couldn't help but hear him and what he was

  84. talking about the, the $1,000,000 deals he was making

  85. today at lunch and the things that he was going into and, and,

  86. and the work they were going to do.

  87. And then all of a sudden right after he begins to talk about, I

  88. don't know if it's his current wife or his ex-wife, but he's

  89. giving one of them a lot of money and it's never enough.

  90. And he's doing all the man. I, I could barely sit there.

  91. I started saying, won't you try giving her Jesus, but you got to

  92. have Jesus for you can give Jesus Amen.

  93. But we we hear just it's interesting to hear the things

  94. and to hear the conversation. You'll hear some godly stuff

  95. every now and then. I'm not denying that.

  96. But on the most part, you're going to hear what he said.

  97. They're going to boast about appearance and not have not

  98. things of the heart. But he says here in verse 17.

  99. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he's a new creation.

  100. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things become new

  101. and I explained last Wednesday night, I'm going to recap a

  102. little bit. We are to be in Christ.

  103. We talked about that last week. I asked what are you walking in?

  104. We have to be walking in the spirit and to walk in the Spirit

  105. you must abide in the spirit that's to sit to dwell or to

  106. remain in the spirit. See develop this to to develop

  107. the new spirit that the apostle Paul talks about here to be the

  108. new creation. It starts out in the Spirit

  109. because the the Spirit has to has to get control of us and we

  110. have to walk in the spirit for the flesh to change.

  111. The church has become very good at changing the flesh and not

  112. ever changing the Spirit, right? So therefore we have to we can

  113. kind of make the flesh do right, But yet people and the Holy

  114. Spirit connect with the Spirit more than than than the flesh.

  115. So we must abide, we must to sit, we must dwell, and we must

  116. remain in the Spirit to develop this new spirit and this new

  117. creation that we're called to be in Christ Jesus.

  118. And I preached this Sunday on three ways that this happens.

  119. And number one was to walk in love.

  120. We have to walk in love in this Christian walk.

  121. If we do not walk in love, then we're not going to reach anybody

  122. because without love we're just a clanging cymbal that's just

  123. going to make a lot of racket and not bear much fruit.

  124. We have to walk in love. Number one, Write that down and

  125. #2 if you're that's the best way to be recreated is to walk in

  126. love. The second thing I talked about

  127. Sunday was to give the word first place in our life, first

  128. place and final authority. He said I'm the alpha and the

  129. Omega, Omega, I'm the 1st and the last.

  130. Give the word first place in your life and give it final

  131. authority in your life. Jesus knew what he was talking

  132. about there, right? Which he always does.

  133. But Proverbs 3 five and six, it says trust in the Lord, say

  134. trust with me, trust in the Lord with all your heart.

  135. Lean not on your own understanding and all your ways

  136. acknowledge Him and he shall direct your path.

  137. So we're walking in love for giving the word first place in

  138. our life. And then the third thing I

  139. talked about was obey the voice of the Spirit.

  140. And the voice of the Spirit is the written word of God.

  141. He speaks to us through his word.

  142. So when we're doing these three things, our spirit will begin to

  143. be renewed. We will begin to develop our new

  144. spirit. We will begin to be a new

  145. creation in Christ Jesus. But we have to read the word

  146. that is the voice of God and and then we will be his sheep and

  147. we'll begin to know His voice. In John chapter 4 and 24, I

    John 4 chapter mention

  148. shared this, that God is a spirit and those that worship

  149. Him must worship Him in the flesh.

  150. That ain't what it says in the spirit and in truth.

  151. So that's kind of what I've shared in this series in a

  152. nutshell. A whole lot more but but kind of

  153. close. But I've added a four thing to

  154. it and I'm going to close this out.

  155. Maybe get off the scripture. I don't know tonight, but #4I

  156. prayed about this, and God give me this.

  157. But quit waiting for a better life through someone else.

  158. A lot of people do that. We wait for a better life.

  159. We think we'll be a better person when we get a better

  160. life. But with a better life comes

  161. bigger problems, right? With a different life would come

  162. different problems. But the Holy Spirit give me

  163. these exact words. I'm going to read some of this.

  164. But a better life started when you were born again.

  165. If you're born again, you have a better life, you're going to

  166. heaven and you're not going to hell.

  167. You have a better life, right, because you're born again.

  168. And and we should think about that.

  169. You know, as I was sitting there in that cafe today by myself, I

  170. just closed my eyes while I was eating and I said I was there

  171. one time, I love God. Maybe this guy didn't take it

  172. that he knew who God was, but I was in there trying to please

  173. the flesh and try to trying to work all the time and, and meet

  174. the demands of what this life says and yet hold on to God and

  175. love him a little bit. Amen.

  176. But I was getting there today. I was thinking so greatly that

  177. that that God has created something in me that doesn't

  178. care about the world anymore. And I can honestly say I can.

  179. I just let it pass away because it's going to anyway.

  180. But quit looking for that better life and start living the life

  181. that God has give you, right? But we want that better life.

  182. But a better life started. Write this down when you were

  183. born again. It will start it.

  184. But here's the problem, God, give me this whole passage right

  185. here. I'm going to read to you in the

  186. parking lot. I was waiting and it just hit me

  187. and I began to talk on my phone. I didn't want to forget it

  188. because I knew it was from God. A better life started when you

  189. were born again. But the willingness in our

  190. spirit to become a new creation in Christ must be stirred.

  191. We have to stir it. God does not always stir it.

  192. Amen. You're probably not going to

  193. feel the same feeling you felt the night that you walk the owl,

  194. that God reach way down for you and he delivered you from that

  195. pit that you were in. It was a great feeling, and we

  196. long to feel that feeling again. But we have to be willing in our

  197. spirit to become a new creation. It must be stirred.

  198. We must exercise it. We must long to be the

  199. righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

  200. And as we do that, we give the Holy Spirit free reign to work

  201. in our life. A lot of people are saying I

  202. don't want the Holy Spirit, I want to live this way.

  203. But we can only go this far. We can't go past this point in

  204. my life. I can't give up some of those

  205. things. You know, I got 2 buddies I hunt

  206. when they claimed they were having these bad headaches like

  207. I haven't. And they said they give up sugar

  208. and they drink gallons of coffee.

  209. And my wife said gallons of coffee can cause headaches and

  210. rebound headaches. And they said they quit the

  211. sugar and, and, and and the headache stopped.

  212. And I said what about the coffee?

  213. They said you're meddling now. That's the way we are sometimes.

  214. We think we know what the problem is and there's certain

  215. things we want to give God, but do we really give Him free reign

  216. to work in our life and to perform the changes that must

  217. take place to be this new creation?

  218. There has to be some changes to be a new creation.

  219. I know some people that that got saved and they had a big

  220. mouthful. They got saved.

  221. They've still got a big mouth, right?

  222. I know some people that didn't love nobody.

  223. They talked about everybody and and before they get out of the

  224. parking lot, they're talking about somebody else's business.

  225. That did not change. God will not drop down and

  226. change that. But you have to create and stir

  227. the Spirit and give the Holy Spirit reign to do that right,

  228. to perform the changes that must take place to be this new

  229. creation that Paul talks about so that all things can become

  230. new. But so many times, and yes, even

  231. in the life of Christians and believers that know God, that

  232. love God, we still look for happiness in the changes.

  233. You ready for this? In the changes of others, we get

  234. hung up on what others do. And we think if others would

  235. change. Hello.

  236. You got somebody at work that when you go to work, you're in a

  237. bad mood because of them and you think if they would change, you

  238. would be better. If the kids didn't act like they

  239. did, you would be better. And that's probably true.

  240. But there would be something else that, you know, we wanted

  241. rain, we wanted cool weather. And then the wind blows and we

  242. fuss about it, right? It's human nature.

  243. But quit waiting for people to change.

  244. We're still look for happiness in the changes of others or in

  245. the changes of a career or maybe in retirement.

  246. Retirement's a great thing, I guess, for some people.

  247. But when you get retired, things hurt.

  248. You don't feel like you want, I want to get to retirement.

  249. Why? You're going to be old.

  250. You're going to hurt. You may not have to go to work,

  251. but you're going to hurt. You're going to be old.

  252. You're not going to have as good a life as you do now.

  253. You may have a check coming in every week that you're not

  254. having to get up and go to work for, right?

  255. But you ain't going to be able to get up and go nowhere.

  256. But I want to retire. We live for retirement so we can

  257. be crippled and talk about all the days we clocked in.

  258. Money's no good if you can't walk around and spend it.

  259. Hey, man, they'll spend it. But we do look for those

  260. changes. Oh, if I could just retire.

  261. I can't wait. I hate this place I've spent 40

  262. years hating. Find a new job you love.

  263. Quit living for the day of retirement.

  264. You may die before you retire. Jesus is probably going to come

  265. back before a lot of people retire.

  266. The way it looks to me, right? But we think, and the Lord give

  267. me this, write this down. We think if they would change,

  268. it would change me. Not true, not true.

  269. If they didn't do this, I wouldn't do that.

  270. That starts at a young age, right?

  271. Somebody made me do it. If they wouldn't do this, I

  272. wouldn't do that. But the truth is that it

  273. wouldn't change us at all because this gets deep right

  274. here. Because we wouldn't be a new

  275. creation in Christ Jesus. We would be depending on

  276. something that was created outside the realm of the spirit,

  277. a someones other spirit that depended upon the outside world

  278. or something else that someone has done for me to be a new

  279. creation. Therefore, what I've been

  280. preaching on for four weeks now is all things wouldn't become

  281. new because all things Paul wasn't saying that everything's

  282. going to be new in your life and everything's going to change,

  283. but he said you're the new creation.

  284. So the way that your eyes now look at what's happening to you

  285. in this life become different. And at the at the point of being

  286. born again, you realize that this world is not your home.

  287. You realize that seasons don't come to stay, they come to pass.

  288. You realize that that eternity is your home and what happens in

  289. this life now does not dominate your thought process and who you

  290. are because I find my identity in the born again creation that

  291. I am now. See, we would be we would be a

  292. creation for the other person if this happened.

  293. Quit believing that lie as a child of God because the truth

  294. is you have something on the inside of you that the world

  295. didn't give you and the world can't take it away.

  296. We read about this in second Corinthians chapter 4.

    2 Corinthians 4 chapter mention

  297. We back up just a little bit in 11 and 12.

  298. He let's go to verse 7. I always back up.

  299. I know I do, but I have to right here because in 2nd Corinthians

  300. 4 and seven, it says, but we have this treasure in an earthen

  301. vessel. Do you ever think about the

  302. treasure that you have? Do you ever think about the

  303. person that you are? Now when the person pulls out in

  304. front of and you don't flip them off, you don't curse them and

  305. you don't have to run to the liquor store after work to cope

  306. with the problems that you couldn't cope with.

  307. But now you just have to close your eyes and reach out to

  308. heaven and say a little prayer because you're a new creation in

  309. Christ Jesus, because you have this treasure that's hidden on

  310. the inside of you that the blood of Jesus placed there.

  311. And he says that the excellence of power may be of God and not

  312. of us. And he didn't say that all this

  313. had changed. He said, yes, we are still hard

  314. pressed on every side, yet we're not crushed.

  315. Remember when you were hard pressed in the former life BC

  316. before Christ when you got a little hard pressed, it seems

  317. that life just fell apart. But now you get hard pressed,

  318. but yet you're not crushed. And that's something to praise

  319. God about. We're perplexed but not in

  320. despair. We're persecuted but not

  321. forsaken. And yes, we may be struck down,

  322. but we're not destroyed. Why?

  323. Because we're always carrying about in the body the dying of

  324. the Lord Jesus Christ. That the life of Jesus also may

  325. be manifested in our bodies. For we who live, I love what he

  326. says right here. For we who live are always

  327. delivered to death for Jesus sake, that the life of Jesus

  328. also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

  329. So then death is working in us, but life in you.

  330. And since we have the same spirit of faith according to

  331. what is written, I believed and therefore I spoke, we also

  332. believe and therefore speak, knowing that he who raised up

  333. the Lord Jesus will also. Isn't that powerful to know that

  334. I will also raise us up with Jesus and will present us with

  335. you for all things or for our your sakes.

  336. That grace having spread through many calls Thanksgiving to a

  337. bound to the glory of God. Therefore, he says do not lose

  338. heart even though our outward man is perishing yet inward the

  339. inward man is being renewed day by day.

  340. See, we realize this because we're a new creation that are a

  341. lot of afflictions, which is but for a moment is working for us a

  342. far more excellent and eternal weight of glory, while we do not

  343. look at the things which are seen.

  344. You want something to work on this week, Go look at the thing.

  345. Go, go, go not. Look at the things which you

  346. see. Stop believing your eyes, but at

  347. the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen

  348. are temporary. That's mind boggling.

  349. They're only temporary. They're not going to last and

  350. they're going to melt with forever and heat and be

  351. destroyed. But the things which are not

  352. seen, the things which we cannot see are eternal.

  353. They're going to last forever. And the only way we're going to

  354. see it is by faith. See, our worship, our happiness

  355. doesn't depend on the outside circumstance.

  356. You know, if, if pastoring a church has taught me anything, I

  357. have learned this. I have learned this.

  358. Have you, Sister Linda, all the times you had to go to church

  359. and step behind the pulpit and all hell was breaking loose in

  360. your life and you got to get up there and you got to preach, you

  361. got to smile, you got to worship God.

  362. I didn't before I started pastoring, I really I'd, I'd

  363. kind of, I'd kind of take a little break from worshiping God

  364. when things went wrong in life sometime.

  365. Anybody ever did that? But see that it doesn't depend

  366. on the outside circumstances or what's going on around us.

  367. Most Christians never reached that point.

  368. That knowing that no, they're just up if things are good and

  369. if God didn't meet it, they're down.

  370. But I know it's about to change. We know it's about to change

  371. because on the inside, because on the outside we're wasting

  372. away, but on the inside we're being renewed.

  373. I love where I love that word He put in there daily.

  374. It's not a long time from now I can be renewed daily.

  375. Philippians 4 and 11 and 12 is another great one to go to.

  376. As we read on, it says not that I speak in regard to need, for I

  377. have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

  378. That'd be a great characteristic to have, wouldn't it?

  379. He goes on to say. I know how to.

  380. I know how to be a base, and I know how to abound everywhere in

  381. all things. I've learned both to be full and

  382. to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

  383. Most people don't. You know, there's a lot of

  384. people right now not getting a paycheck due to people that's

  385. getting paid not doing their job, right?

  386. Surely somebody could figure out a way to get along, to get the

  387. same things done. But there's people going crazy

  388. because they don't get a paycheck.

  389. And it's rightfully so. But I've been in that situation

  390. all my life, rodeoing, contracting.

  391. But but the thing of it is we got to know where the paycheck

  392. comes from. God, it says that he's the one

  393. that gives us the power to get wealth.

  394. Sure, it takes a job, but he's the one that gives you the power

  395. to get that. Aren't you glad you're a new

  396. creation tonight and you can go on as apostle, as apostle Paul

  397. said, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens

  398. me. Do you remember where you were

  399. when the Savior reached down for you?

  400. Aren't you glad to know that who you are tonight because you know

  401. who he is and Psalms chapter 51. I want to do a little reading

    Psalms 51 chapter mention

  402. here. It's a great passage of

  403. Scripture. But the reason we we need to

  404. keep this new spirit about us. We have to keep this new spirit

  405. about us is because I've never we we look to the returning of

  406. Christ, but in the returning of Christ there's going to be a

  407. great falling away. The Bible speaks of, I hear it

  408. every, it seems like every few weeks I hear of it churches

  409. closing. That's been around longer than

  410. this one pastor and his wife getting a divorce after 30 years

  411. and having to shut the church down.

  412. And you know the thing that always rings, I've always kept

  413. this at the top of my Christian walk.

  414. And I was sharing on the phone yesterday.

  415. A guy told me he said I like a church, but we, we, we disagree

  416. on on being once saved, always saved.

  417. He said you can't lose your salvation.

  418. I said we don't disagree on that.

  419. I said you word it differently because you think they weren't

  420. saved if they weren't truly if they there, if there wasn't a

  421. change in their life, they weren't truly saved.

  422. And I said I don't discourage people with telling them when

  423. they prayed the sinner's prayer that God didn't move in their

  424. life and there was something different.

  425. But I but, but I said, if you want to sit down and look at the

  426. scripture, I can show you that we don't agree, disagree because

  427. I know you know what the word says.

  428. And if you let me show you, you will, you will see it like I see

  429. it. And I really believe that.

  430. But it's a bad place to live in to think that you're all, you're

  431. sealed for eternity. And no matter what you do on

  432. this earth, it's really prideful because I know without God, I

  433. can do nothing. And I know if I turn my back on

  434. God and walk over, walk the other way, there's no telling

  435. what I would be. And I think that's what keeps us

  436. going. I think that's what fuels the

  437. fire of the believer. And I believe if David could

  438. come back today, and I'm talking about being a a new creation in

  439. Christ Jesus, I used to hear Charles Stanley and Jared, you

  440. might not put this on there tonight.

  441. I don't care if you do. But if I save me some phone

  442. calls, pick you another one to put on the deal, but I really

  443. don't care anymore. The truth's the truth.

  444. I love Charles Stanley, I loved a lot of his teachings.

  445. I think he was a great man of God, but he believed in the

  446. Calvinistic belief of once saved, always saved.

  447. He believed that no matter what you did in this life, you would

  448. not lose your salvation. You would suffer repercussions

  449. in this life. The devil could attack you more

  450. if you send more in this life and and you would you know, you

  451. would have to deal with some of the repercussions of the sin.

  452. What reap what you sowed in this life, but it was never going to

  453. affect your eternal destiny. But when we read about the

  454. judgement seat of Christ that we're going to give an account

  455. of those things and they will be rewarded.

  456. But but I think of David when I think of that because I don't

  457. see how you could have a new created spirit because he would

  458. preach against sin. He would preach all these things

  459. against sin and and then I was listening one day and then he

  460. said, but no matter what you do, nothing can separate you from

  461. God. You have an eternal home in

  462. heaven. You will suffer that.

  463. And I thought, why try, Why pray?

  464. Why overcome all these and all these things?

  465. It just kind of takes the, the, the glory out of it.

  466. But I think a David, David was a king.

  467. David was anointed by God. He was appointed king.

  468. We know that, right? And the Bible teaches that David

  469. was a man after God's own heart. He was the apple of his eye.

  470. And and we know those things. But in Psalms chapter 51, David

    Psalms 51 chapter mention

  471. wrote a lot of the Psalms. But this Psalm 51 is very

  472. different that David wrote because David wrote the Psalm.

  473. It's believed to be when Nathan the prophet had went to him

  474. after he had had a a marital extramarital affair with

  475. Bathsheba and he had had her husband killed by placing him on

  476. the front battle line so he could take her as his wife and

  477. had a child with her. And we know the story.

  478. The child did not live. God did not allow that to

  479. happen. But David had come to the place

  480. that that I think maybe he, you know, maybe was feeling like he

  481. was OK, but he wrote this Psalm after that happened.

  482. He wrote these things I'm going to read to you in closing

  483. tonight because David now knew how important the new created

  484. spirit that I've been preaching for four weeks about was.

  485. We have to have a new spirit. And he starts out in verse one

  486. of Psalms 51. It says, Have mercy upon me, O

  487. God, according to your love and kindness, and according to your

  488. tender mercies. Blot out my transgressions, wash

  489. me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

  490. And I begin to think about that David was praying something

  491. there that he really had not seen.

  492. He was asking for forgiveness. But let's keep in mind, the

  493. blood of Jesus had not been shed yet.

  494. There had been no nothing that could wipe it away forever.

  495. And David was yet crying out for men.

  496. I this guy beside me when I read this today, he was crying out

  497. for that which we now have. He was crying out that all this

  498. thing that I've done could just be forgotten and and be wiped

  499. away and never I wish I'd have never done.

  500. Can you imagine being a king and being in that place and and, and

  501. having this? I begin to think men of standing

  502. behind the pulpit preaching the gospel every week.

  503. What if I stumbled for a minute? What if I failed?

  504. And what if this was me? And it could be, it could be

  505. you. You could be the one that

  506. they're talking about next week at church that that used to go

  507. to church. Man, they were in tune.

  508. They knew Christ, they knew God and they love God.

  509. But but I don't know what happened to him.

  510. Look at what they're doing now. We could be, you could be the

  511. very next one and never saying you can't come back.

  512. But you, you kill your witness, nobody's going to listen to you.

  513. And all the good that we that we've done for people, it would

  514. just be, it would just be vanished because they look at

  515. the one time you fail. That's why I think about Jimmy

  516. Swaggart many times. What a great, what a great man

  517. to come back. I don't know that I could have

  518. come back from that. Most preachers sit down and say,

  519. well, I failed and I'm done. Yet he went on to do mighty

  520. things of work, work for God. We call it blasphemy.

  521. I've heard people do that because he, he once fell and now

  522. I did that. But I think it's better to get

  523. up and keep going and still leading people to Jesus because

  524. now you can tell somebody, you can take that filthy rag that's

  525. in your life and you can say, look what God did to it.

  526. Look what he made of it because it says that our greatest

  527. righteousness before God is but what filthy rags.

  528. But think about David, how he wrote this.

  529. Go home and read it. I'm not going to read it all,

  530. but I want to go back up here to verse 5.

  531. It said, behold, I was brought forth in iniquity.

  532. He begins to think about his life and in sin my mother

  533. conceived me. Behold, you desire truth and

  534. inward parts and in the hidden part you will make me to know

  535. wisdom. And he said in verse 7, he said,

  536. he said, purge me with hasop. See, David was begging for

  537. cleansing. He was begging forgiveness.

  538. Hasop was a it was a, an Evergreen plant that they use

  539. for purity, kind of like germ X today.

  540. I guess it they would use hasop and they had in their mind that

  541. it would clean. And Davis just pour the hasop

  542. all over me that I shall be cleansed.

  543. Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.

  544. Make me hear joy and gladness that the bones you have broken

  545. may rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and

  546. blot out all of my iniquities. He was pleading for the blood

  547. right here. He knew what the blood was

  548. before the blood was shed. But I love what he said right

  549. here. He realized his heart wasn't

  550. clean. See, we have to realize our

  551. heart is not clean apart from Jesus Christ and he's the only

  552. one that can create this in us. He said created me a clean

  553. heart. O God, can you think about David

  554. this this prayer really meant something to David right here.

  555. I failed you. I committed adultery.

  556. I had a man murdered in I was the king.

  557. I'm supposed to know God. I'm supposed to be close to God

  558. and yet this is happening. And look what he said right

  559. here. He said, just create a clean

  560. heart in me, oh God, and renew a steadfast spirit.

  561. David knew the importance right here now, after he had fell,

  562. after his life was about to be in shambles, after he had prayed

  563. for God not to take his child, he said, renewing me a

  564. steadfastness. See, there's an importance in

  565. staying steadfast with God. There's importance in coming and

  566. hearing the word of God when you don't feel like it.

  567. Hey, man, there's an importance in staying steadfastness because

  568. when God, when the enemy is trying to keep you from hearing

  569. the word of God, he's trying to keep you from getting faith to

  570. overcome the struggles and the battles that you're facing.

  571. Do not cast me away from your presence, man.

  572. Look what he said right here. Do not take your Holy Spirit

  573. from me. Restore to me the joy of your

  574. salvation. Do you think David thought he

  575. had lost something right here? Sounds like it.

  576. He said restore. I know before I did that there

  577. was something that was wrong in my spirit.

  578. That's why I'm preaching to y'all.

  579. I'm preaching to all these people every week about create

  580. this new thing. You got to stir it.

  581. God will do the work, but you got to stir it and you got to

  582. give the Holy Spirit free reign in your life.

  583. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your

  584. Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your

  585. salvation and uphold me by Your generous Spirit as you stand

  586. Your feet tonight. This one really got me, he says.

  587. Then I will teach transgressors, transgressors your ways, and

  588. sinners shall be converted to you.

  589. And then awesome. So you after you've had that

  590. clean heart created in you, after you've had that

  591. steadfastness of that new created spirit that we're

  592. talking about, and after you realize that the Holy Spirit has

  593. left you, but it's returned, you got something to to joy about,

  594. but it's a whole lot easier. It's a whole lot easier if we

  595. would do that first, if we would do that first.

  596. Thank God, he loves us where we were at.

  597. Thank God he reached way down. I love to tell young people, you

  598. know, testimonies are great, but you don't have to have one.

  599. You don't have to go through all those bad things if you're just

  600. asking to come into your life. As this song plays.

  601. Would you gather around tonight and thank Him that He reach way

  602. down for you? Would you say God just clean,

  603. Create a clean heart in me tonight?
