  1. Welcome to the Cross Power Church podcast.

  2. You're listening to a service from our church in Campbell, TX.

  3. We pray this message strengthens your faith and points you to the

  4. cross. Now let's join the service.

  5. But we want to go to the Lord and pray and and just invite him

  6. into our presence. And he already says he rides

  7. upon the the waves of our praise.

  8. So he's already here. And we just want to thank him

  9. for that. Father, we want to bless you

  10. tonight. We have gathered together

  11. tonight because we love you. We want to sit at your feet

  12. tonight and just feel your presence, Father, that you would

  13. just calm the storms that's in our lives, Lord, That you would

  14. just give us peace where there doesn't seem to be any peace.

  15. That you'll make a way where there doesn't seem to be a way.

  16. Father, we pray right now that you just touch our minds, touch

  17. our hearts, Lord, and let us absorb your word into our being,

  18. Lord, as we set at your feet tonight to worship you in spirit

  19. and in truth, in Jesus name, Amen.

  20. OK, I've got a going to ask y'all a question and it's going

  21. to be a head tilter. What's the name of the baby in

  22. the Manger? Well, we're going to find out.

  23. We're going to find out if there's a lot of names because

  24. with Jesus, all through Scripture, He's a lot of things

  25. to whatever you need. That's what He is.

  26. He is to you now Matthew 1 and 21 and then I'm going to go to

  27. Luke 1 and 31 and I'm going to be jumping around all over the

  28. place as y'all know I do. But Matthew 1 and 21 says and

  29. she will bring forth a son and you shall call his name Jesus,

  30. for he will save his people from their sins.

  31. Luke 131 says pretty much the same.

  32. It says and behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring

  33. forth a son and shall call his name Jesus.

  34. So we know that the the given name for our Lord and Savior is

  35. Jesus. Jehovah saves is what that

  36. means. You know, he tells us in

  37. Scripture, Acts 4 and 12, it says there is no other name by

  38. which a man can be saved except by the name of Jesus.

  39. He's also the Messiah. He's the Christ, the Messiah,

  40. He's the anointed. 1 He introduced himself in the

  41. synagogue one day. Luke 4 and 18 says the spirit of

  42. the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the

  43. gospel to the poor. He sent me to heal the broken

  44. hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recover sight

  45. to the blind. He did all of that to set at

  46. liberty those who are oppressed to proclaim the acceptable year

  47. of the Lord. And there was a woman that said

  48. to him one time she said, I know the Messiah is coming who is

  49. called the Christ. When he comes, he will tell us

  50. all things Jesus said to her, I am the one who speaks to you.

  51. I am, I am he. So he is, he is Jesus.

  52. He's the Messiah, Christ. He's the promised deliverer.

  53. The baby in the Manger is the promised deliverer.

  54. Romans 11/26 And and also all Israel will be saved.

  55. As it is written. The deliverer will come out of

  56. Zion and he will turn away the ungodliness from Jacob.

  57. Now the deliverer. That made me think of a song by

  58. Rich Mullins. My deliverer comes.

  59. I probably posted it on Facebook if anybody saw it.

  60. But my deliverer, he's our deliverer.

  61. Has anybody been delivered? Has he been a deliverer for

  62. anybody in here? Yes, delivered from all kinds of

  63. things. He just keeps his hand upon us.

  64. He's the deliverer. He's the Lamb of God.

  65. John the Baptist introduced him as the Lamb of God.

  66. He said when Jesus was going down to be baptized, John the

  67. Baptist says, behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins

  68. of the world. So he's Jesus Messiah, Christ,

  69. the promised deliverer, and he's the Lamb of God.

  70. That's the baby in the Manger. Now he's also known as Emmanuel,

  71. God with us. He's not just out there

  72. somewhere, He's here and now he's with us all the time.

  73. Emmanuel, the baby in the Manger.

  74. He's also known as Jehovah Shama.

  75. That means Lamb of God, Emmanuel.

  76. Rather, that means Emmanuel, Jehovah Shama.

  77. He's the Alpha and the Omega. He's the 1st and he's the last.

  78. He is the pre existent beginning and the eternal end.

  79. He was there when there was nothing and he'll be there when

  80. there is nothing. He is the Alpha and the Omega.

  81. He's the 1st and the last. He is my favorite, the word

  82. Logos. He is the word.

  83. He's the divine expression of God.

  84. Think about that, the Word. He's the divine expression of

  85. God. John 1 and 1.

  86. John always starts out different than anybody else.

  87. He says in the beginning was the word and he goes on and says and

  88. the word was with God. And he goes on and says and the

  89. word was God. And then he goes on and tells us

  90. he says he was in the beginning with God.

  91. All things were made through him and without him nothing that was

  92. made was made. John 1 enforces in him was life

  93. and the life of light of the men.

  94. He's the word, the spoken word of God.

  95. How was heaven and earth created?

  96. Y'all remember the story in Genesis?

  97. God spoke He said it says over and over and over again.

  98. It says God said let there be and there was and there was.

  99. So Jesus is the word you want to set at the feet of Jesus, Open

  100. your word, open your word and sit there and say, I want to sit

  101. at the feet of Jesus. Well, here you go.

  102. Because he is the Word. And he in John 14 and 9 says he

  103. that has seen me has seen the Father.

  104. So he's the word. He's God in the beginning, and

  105. he'll always be God. He's also known as the light of

  106. the world. Wow.

  107. Remember God says let there be light, and this just there was

  108. light. He's the light of the world.

  109. He's the illumination of the truth in this Dark World that we

  110. live in. And He guides us with his light.

  111. He shines his light for us, and he leads us and He directs us.

  112. He says, Psalm says your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light

  113. to my path. That's what he says.

  114. And he doesn't say you illuminate the whole building.

  115. He says, you're a light unto my path.

  116. You take a flashlight and you can just see one step at a time.

  117. Because if we can see the whole thing, we wouldn't like it.

  118. One step at a time. He says I am the light of the

  119. world. And John, he proclaims I'm the

  120. light of the world. So we have that little baby.

  121. He's the Messiah, he's the Christ, he's Jesus, He's he's

  122. the promised deliverer, he's the word, he's the Lamb of God.

  123. So what name is in the name of that baby?

  124. That's in the Manger as we always celebrate the baby Jesus.

  125. But he's also the bread of life. Did you ever think of that?

  126. He's the, he is spiritual substance to us.

  127. He satisfies the soul's deepest yearning.

  128. We are hungry. You ever get hungry for

  129. something you're not sure what you're hungry for?

  130. He satisfies. He's the bread of life.

  131. He satisfies us. And John again, back to John, I

  132. love John. We may take that up next year,

  133. ladies. John, I am the bread of life.

  134. Your father and ate manna in the wilderness and are dead.

  135. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may

  136. eat it and not die. I am the living bread which came

  137. down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he

  138. says, you will live forever. And the bread that I shall give

  139. is my flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.

  140. So here he is now. He's the bread of life, he said.

  141. He satisfies our souls. We're yearning and hungry.

  142. And if you were ever lost and undone without the Lord, you

  143. know, out in the world somewhere, you were always

  144. looking for something. He says I'm the bread.

  145. I meant. I meant this is what you need.

  146. This is what you want. He's also the living water.

  147. Living Water. The woman at the well remember

  148. she knew him as the living Water.

  149. She said he who believe or he said he who believes in me as a

  150. scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living

  151. water. Jeremiah says it from my people

  152. have committed 2 evils. They have forsaken me, the

  153. fountain of living water and healing themselves systems,

  154. broken systems they cannot hold any water.

  155. So he warns the people, he says I'm the water.

  156. I'm what you're yearning for. I'm the one that you're yearning

  157. for. So now we have him as the living

  158. water. Like the woman at the well found

  159. him to be the living water. She knew him as the living

  160. water. He wasn't even born yet.

  161. And he was the living water. He was the bread of life, the

  162. manna from heaven. He's always been that.

  163. We know him as the Son of God. His divinity, his parentage, his

  164. nature is the son of God. He's also the son of man, Jesus

  165. said. Told everybody that so that we

  166. could identify with him. He's the son of man so we can

  167. identify with him. He's the son of David.

  168. Now, why do you think that's important?

  169. Son of David, his royalty, He comes from a royal priesthood

  170. that we know of. That's son of David.

  171. He's the bright and morning star.

  172. He's the hope and the promise of a new day.

  173. Need that, he said. I am the root and the offspring

  174. of David and the bright and morning star.

  175. So if it's dark where you're at, look to him.

  176. He's the bright and morning star and he will give you a new day.

  177. It's coming. He's the way, the truth and the

  178. life. He declares that to us, since

  179. nobody comes back to the Father except through me.

  180. I am the way, I'm the truth, I'm the life.

  181. Nobody can come to the Father except through me.

  182. His exclusive path to God is Jesus.

  183. Don't believe anybody else. That tells you something

  184. different won't happen. He's also.

  185. We know the angels proclaimed Him to be the wonderful

  186. counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, the Prince

  187. of Peace, Jehovah Shalom. The Prince of Peace was

  188. prophesied by Isaiah 740 years before he was ever born.

  189. Isaiah prophesied that that he's going to be the wonderful

  190. counselor, He's going to be the mighty God, everlasting Father,

  191. Prince of Peace. So what's the name of the baby

  192. in the Manger? All of this.

  193. He's all of this Jehovah Shalom. And it goes on to say, for unto

  194. us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government

  195. will be on his shoulders. Is it truth?

  196. It's true, it's the truth. I mean, people going don't talk

  197. about government and religion. Hello, 740 years before Christ

  198. was ever born, it's already told us that the government's going

  199. to be on his shoulders, constant.

  200. It's a constant. He's the resurrection and the

  201. life. Mary, Martha and Lazarus, they

  202. knew him as the resurrection and life.

  203. Remember, Lazarus was dead, had been dead for four days.

  204. They called Jesus, Jesus comes in, says Lazarus come forth.

  205. They recognized him and they called the baby in the Manger

  206. the resurrection and the life. That's what he was, and

  207. Scripture says. And when he came near the gate

  208. of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried, the only son

  209. of his mother, and she was a widow, and a large crowd from

  210. the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he

  211. had compassion on her, and said to her, Don't weep.

  212. Then he came and touched open coffin, and those who carried

  213. him stood still, And he said, Young man, I say to you, arise.

  214. So he who was dead set up and began to speak and he presented

  215. him to his mother. So the widow woman who had lost

  216. her son, she knows him as the resurrection and the life.

  217. We can know him as my life is was dead without him.

  218. And now it's resurrected because of him.

  219. We can know him as the resurrection and the life.

  220. We, we kind of overlooked that story.

  221. We go by that one so fast. Where?

  222. Where they were in a funeral procession, they were.

  223. He doesn't just show compassion, but he is.

  224. He doesn't just love, but he is love.

  225. Without him, there would be no love.

  226. So that's the baby in the Manger.

  227. I keep pointing over here. There's a baby in the Manger

  228. over here, y'all? That's the baby in the Manger.

  229. King of Kings and Lord of Lords, we know that ultimate authority

  230. and future reign. He's going to reign forever and

  231. ever, and no one is above him. He's the King of kings and the

  232. Lord of Lords. He's also the lion of the tribe

  233. of Judah. Yes, we like that one.

  234. We see that lion roaring. He's royal conquering.

  235. Jesus was from the tribe of Judah.

  236. It's prophesied that the Messiah whose triumphs over sin and

  237. death, conquering like a lion, roaring, strong and powerful.

  238. Hosea said it like this. For I will be like a lion of

  239. Ephraim, and like a young lion to the House of Judah.

  240. I even I will tear them and go away, and I will take them away,

  241. and no one shall rescue. Verse 5 of Revelation goes on

  242. and says, but no. But one of the elders said unto

  243. me, do not wait. Behold, the lion of the tribe of

  244. Judah, the root of David has prevailed to open the scrolls

  245. and loosen the seven seals. He's not all power powerful.

  246. The lion of the tribe of Judah, he's the chief cornerstone boy.

  247. He's got a lot of names. He's our foundation.

  248. That's what we build upon is the word.

  249. He's the word. We build upon His word, and he's

  250. the chief cornerstone that was rejected.

  251. They rejected him, but we can build upon Him.

  252. He's the rock. We know Him as the rock.

  253. The wise men built their house upon the rock and the rains came

  254. down. Y'all know that He's that rock?

  255. And Scripture says, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone

  256. elect precious, and he who believes on him will not, no

  257. means be put to shame. Yay.

  258. We won't have to be put the same for nothing.

  259. People try to shame us for being Christians.

  260. They try to say, oh, oh, you're one of those.

  261. Yes, I am. You bet you I stand on the chief

  262. cornerstone. That's right.

  263. He's the true vine. He's the source of all spiritual

  264. life. If we're not plugged into that

  265. vine, we're going to die wither away.

  266. But when we're into the vine of Jesus, he's the true vine, and

  267. that's what's going to keep us alive.

  268. Otherwise we'll just wither and die.

  269. I'm almost done. It's going to be a short night,

  270. y'all. He's the author and the finisher

  271. of our faith. Our faith starts and is

  272. perfected in Him. Hebrews 12 and two says looking

  273. into Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith, who for

  274. the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the

  275. shame, and is set down at the right hand of the Father.

  276. Hallelujah. He knew what was going to

  277. happen. He knew that He was going to go

  278. to the cross, but He did it for us so that we would have an

  279. author and finisher of our faith.

  280. We look to him. He's our provider.

  281. Remember the people on the hillside, the 5000 plus, men and

  282. women and children. So it's probably approximately

  283. 15,000. I have to say that I get

  284. irritated because they leave the women out.

  285. But the 5000 plus on the hillside, Peter was looking for

  286. money and paying taxes. He provided.

  287. He said go look at that fish. Go look in the fish's mouth.

  288. The first fish you catch, look in his mouth and you'll find

  289. money for your taxes. Hallelujah, I'm going fish in.

  290. But he provided food when there was no food.

  291. He provided food for the people on the hillside.

  292. He provided oil for the woman that was her children.

  293. Remember OT her children were getting ready to be her sons

  294. were getting ready to be taken into debtors prison.

  295. And he said the prophet said go, get, go get some jars, not a

  296. few, get a lot. And that oil kept pouring out.

  297. He's the oil. He's the deliverer to the

  298. demoniac in the garden of the Gadarenes.

  299. He knew him as a deliverer. Mary Magdalene knew him as the

  300. deliverer. I know him as a deliverer.

  301. We all know him as our deliverer.

  302. He delivers us from the pit of hell.

  303. He delivers us from the life we used to have to the life we have

  304. now. He's a friend.

  305. Yay, he's our friend. Greater love has no man than

  306. this to lay down in one's life for his friends.

  307. You are my friends if you do whatever I command you no longer

  308. do I call you servants. And we need to understand that

  309. because we call him a servant of God.

  310. Now you're a friend of God, he said.

  311. I'm not calling you servant anymore.

  312. I'm going to call you friend. For all things that I have heard

  313. from my father, I have made known to you.

  314. Proverbs said he's a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

  315. So that baby in the Manger, he's a lot of things.

  316. Deliverer, provider, author, finisher, king of kings, love,

  317. lion of the tribe of Judah. What's the name of the baby in

  318. the Manger? He's all of it.

  319. He's all of it. He's the healer.

  320. Jehovah Rapha. He's the healer.

  321. Remember the woman with the issue of blood?

  322. She knew him as the healer. She just had to touch the hem of

  323. his garment. The soldier with a sick child

  324. knew him as the healer. The leper knew him as the

  325. healer. The crippled man at the pool of

  326. Shalom knew him as the healer. We can know him as the healer.

  327. The forgiver of sin. Yay, the woman who was about to

  328. be stoned. Remember her?

  329. They drug her up here. I don't know where the second

  330. party was, but anyway, I'm going to go that one.

  331. Drug her up there, threw her down on the ground.

  332. She's been caught in the act of adultery.

  333. Jesus said your sins are forgiven, Go and sin no more.

  334. He's the forgiver of sins. Hallelujah.

  335. So how do you know him? What's the name of the baby in

  336. the Manger for you? Joy, peace, merciful.

  337. He's, I kept thinking that I was reading it before I come left

  338. the house. He's our shepherd, Jehovah Raul.

  339. He's peace, he's faithful, he's our judge.

  340. We could go on and on and on about who that baby in the

  341. Manger is and the name of that baby in the Manger, but I'm not

  342. going to keep y'all. Well we're going to get out real

  343. early, but who is he to you? This time of year we always

  344. think about Santa Claus, which is not real.

  345. Y'all, I'm sorry, don't want to hurt your kids feelings, but

  346. it's not real. It's Jesus.

  347. Jesus is the one. We celebrate his birthday.

  348. We don't celebrate Santa Claus, we celebrate his birthday.

  349. We put up our trees. The Evergreen stands for eternal

  350. life. The lights stand for the fact

  351. that he's the light of the world.

  352. The gifts under the tree stands for the fact that he gives us

  353. gifts when we get saved. The red stands for the blood.

  354. So when we celebrate, let's tell our children, when we put up our

  355. trees and say this is Jesus, we want you to see he was hung upon

  356. the tree. Tell them the story of Jesus.

  357. Don't tell them the story of Santa Claus because it's fake.

  358. It's not real at all. Tell them the names of the baby

  359. in the Manger, not just baby Jesus, because he's coming back

  360. as a lion from the tribe of Judah.

  361. He's going to come back as a warrior, the mighty God.

  362. He's God, eternal God, the creator.

  363. Did you hear that when I first read?

  364. Nothing was created that was created without him.

  365. Wow. I used to, back in my long ago,

  366. early Christian walk, I would sit and think and I would look,

  367. I would look at the wood and I thought that wood's there

  368. because Jesus made it. The sheetrock's there because

  369. Jesus made the elements that caused men to make it, give men

  370. knowledge to make it. So even today when men put up

  371. the big high rise buildings and look what I did.

  372. No, the Lord did that for you. He gave you the wisdom to do it,

  373. and He gave you the materials to do it with.

  374. That didn't just happen. He's the creator, Creator God,

  375. merciful. Oh, we're so glad He's so

  376. merciful to us. We don't.

  377. He gives us way more than we deserve.

  378. He's a forgiver of sins, eternal life, our judge, merciful judge

  379. at that, because he could ZAP us anytime He could.

  380. So I just want you all to think about it as you are preparing

  381. for the holidays, who he is, who he is to you, not just the baby

  382. and the Manger, but he's everything.

  383. He's everything we need, all of it.

  384. Thanks for listening to the Cross Power Church podcast.
