  1. Welcome to the Cross Power Church podcast.

  2. You're listening to a service from our church in Campbell, TX.

  3. We pray this message strengthens your faith and points you to the

  4. cross. Now let's join the service.

  5. Javi Bible is going to be a few places this morning, but how

  6. many is ready to take a ride in the Word this morning?

  7. Proverbs chapter 3, verse five and six, if you'd stay in the

    Proverbs 3 chapter mention

  8. reading of the Word, very familiar passages of Scripture.

  9. I'm preaching to you this morning, but I want to preach it

  10. to you in a way it'll change your life.

  11. Amen. I found that just reading the

  12. Bible sometimes didn't change my life, but when I begin to apply

  13. it and I begin to live it, it changed my life.

  14. Can somebody say Amen, We can read about trusting, we can read

  15. about leaning. We can read about all of those

  16. things, but life will throw you some curves sometimes and

  17. there's sometimes that you have to practice what you read right

  18. or practice what you preach. Proverbs chapter 3 and verse 5,

    Proverbs 3 chapter mention

  19. it says trust, say trust. So I know you're here this

  20. morning. Trust in the Lord.

  21. I love this not with some of your heart, but all of your

  22. heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways

  23. acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths.

  24. I like that we like to read verse 6 and all your ways.

  25. Just say a little prayer and think about God and he'll he

  26. will direct your paths, but that you got to put the verse 5 with

  27. it. Trust in the Lord with all your

  28. heart. I titled this today and lean not

  29. on your own understanding, but in all of your ways.

  30. Acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

  31. Father, we thank you for your word.

  32. We thank you for the opportunity to preach your word once again.

  33. We pray that you would touch it, You would anoint it, that you'd

  34. give me the strength annoying to preach it as you showed it unto

  35. me. It's in your Son's name, we

  36. pray. Amen.

  37. Lean not. It's hard not to lean sometimes.

  38. We have all kinds of directions. We lean in.

  39. We lean into doubt, we lean into fear.

  40. Many lean into sin and things of the world.

  41. It's hard many times to lean not.

  42. But yet in Proverbs it says trust in the Lord with all your

  43. heart. We're to lean on Christ.

  44. We're to lean on the word of God.

  45. But what he's talking about and what I'm talking about, go,

  46. don't go tell somebody. The pastor said lean not on the

  47. Lord. I'm saying lean not on your own

  48. understanding. So if we're leaning not and

  49. we're trusting, see many times we pray about things and many

  50. people go as far as to fast about things, right?

  51. And maybe they even move into the realm of faith and believing

  52. some things in God, believing for that which you cannot see,

  53. which is faith, right? So we step into that realm of

  54. it, but yet do we really trust? There has to come a time that we

  55. trust God, right? We've had the faith, we prayed

  56. the prayer, we've read the word, we sing the song, but we have to

  57. move into the realm of trusting God.

  58. I want to look at this word trust a little bit in the

  59. Hebrew. I, I like looking in the Hebrew

  60. words a lot because sometimes they don't mean what we think

  61. they mean translated into our English language.

  62. But it has a huge meaning is to feel safe, to be confident.

  63. That's what trusting is to, to feel safe, to be confident.

  64. And it often implies an active physical surrender or a welding

  65. to God. I like that.

  66. You ever tried to cut something loose that's been welded really

  67. good? It takes a little while and it's

  68. really hard sometimes you, you might have to beat, you might

  69. have to bang. And you know, I don't like

  70. welding something up. I Weld a lot and I don't like

  71. cutting it loose because it's hard.

  72. Hey, man. And that's what this is saying

  73. here. It's welded to God, welding

  74. oneself to God. This this word in the Hebrew it

  75. suggests what am I talking about?

  76. Are y'all with me trusting the word trust?

  77. It suggests us as to lie helpless like a baby.

  78. I like that. Don't you to lie helpless like a

  79. baby because you're trusting God, right?

  80. And Jesus said that too. He said unless you become as a

  81. little child and cast all your cares up on me and begin to

  82. trust in me, Amen. He said that's how you enter

  83. into the Kingdom of heaven. He said unless you become as a

  84. little child, you may not get in the Kingdom of heaven, right?

  85. So we have to be welded to God. We have to be laying helpless

  86. like a baby, but yet entirely secure in the care of the

  87. protector. I like that I'm in his care this

  88. morning. How about you representing an

  89. unshakable deep confidence in divine faithfulness?

  90. That's what trust means. Are you trusting God this

  91. morning? Are you leaning not on your own

  92. understanding, but in all of your ways, trust in the Lord?

  93. Psalms 37, three and four. Let's read that.

  94. It's a good one too. The psalmist says in Psalms 37

  95. chapters 3, verse three and four, it says, here it is again.

  96. Say it with me, Trust in the Lord and do good.

  97. Dwell in the land. We got to live in the land, so

  98. why not feed off the faithfulness of God?

  99. Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of

  100. your heart. There that word is again trust

  101. in the Lord and do good see we as we actively rely on God's

  102. character while living righteously, something begins to

  103. happen even when we're facing uncertain times.

  104. Anybody facing uncertain times today and, and we all are.

  105. See, trust encourages, it shifts us away from where can I say

  106. that again? Trust, you need shifting away

  107. from weary today. Amen.

  108. We all worry, but trust encourages shifting us away from

  109. weary to confidence in divine sovereignty.

  110. Can I say that again? Trust encourages sifting us away

  111. from weary to confidence in divine sovereignty.

  112. If I came to you today and I said what does sovereignty mean?

  113. You know, we know that God is omnipotent.

  114. We we learn that God is sovereign.

  115. He's all being but I want to look at this word in the Hebrew

  116. before I get to preaching this morning.

  117. Sovereignty in the Hebrew is an absolute who I got excited when

  118. I read this. Something is absolutely you

  119. know, you hear somebody get real serious.

  120. They say absolutely, absolutely. I like to hunt Coon dogs.

  121. You know, when a Coon dog barks real loud, you hear this big old

  122. ball and before he locates and changes it over to a tree, you

  123. know, you think, boy, there it is.

  124. And I was hunting with a young man one time.

  125. I had this dog. He would trick you.

  126. He would give this big old ball. And then he's supposed to go,

  127. oh, oh, oh, and that means he's got a Coon.

  128. And if you're the competition hunt, you can tree him right

  129. there, win the hunt. But see, he would give this big

  130. A, He'd do it half the night. And I told this young boy, I

  131. said, boy, He said, boy, that's nice.

  132. Yeah. I said, boy, you hear that?

  133. He said, yeah. And I said, you know what that

  134. means? He said, yeah, I said, means

  135. absolutely nothing. He does it all the time.

  136. Don't mean anything, absolute nothing.

  137. But see, in this word of sovereignty, it means absolute

  138. dominion and kingship. Isn't that cool?

  139. God is sovereign. He has absolute dominion over

  140. not just you and I, not just over church denominations, not

  141. just over our leadership, but everything.

  142. That's what sovereignty of God is.

  143. He's got absolute dominion and kingship, and it is rightful

  144. authority. Isn't that powerful?

  145. God has rightful authority. See Satan.

  146. He has authority over many in this world, but it's not

  147. rightful authority. He has no right to come in and

  148. take anything from us because Jesus Christ at the cross of

  149. Calvary, He placed him under the soles of our feet.

  150. Hey man, so Satan, when he comes upon you and he's attacking you,

  151. he has no rightful authority. So you got to realize that you

  152. serve a sovereign God that has rightful authority because He

  153. sent His only begotten Son to planet earth that died upon an

  154. old rugged cross and shed His blood for you and I that we can

  155. have the right to enter into this kinship.

  156. And not only did He go to the cross, but he went farther than

  157. that. He went to an old tomb.

  158. Amen. And on the third day He walked

  159. out of that old tomb, and he went farther than the tomb.

  160. He appeared to many with signs, wonders, and miracles.

  161. And then he ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand

  162. of the Father. And he's making intercession for

  163. you and I. That's rightful authority.

  164. Amen. What has the devil ever done?

  165. Caused me a lot of heartache, caused me a lot of worry because

  166. I want to. I want to give him some

  167. authority. He has no authority.

  168. Hey, man, I have to remind him on a daily basis.

  169. Enemy, you have no authority in my life.

  170. I have a rightful authority with Jesus Christ and I have a blood

  171. covenant that I entered in that he poured on my life and he has

  172. no authority. Whoa.

  173. Somebody ought to be out of their seat.

  174. We have a rightful authority. He has rightful authority to

  175. come to this earth. And what did Jesus say He came

  176. for? To seek and save that which was

  177. lost. And He's commanded us to do the

  178. same thing. And he ascended back to heaven

  179. and he sat down at the right hand of his father.

  180. And it didn't end there, thank God.

  181. He said, because I'm going to the right hand of the Father and

  182. I'm going to sit down. I'm going to send you something

  183. powerful that that, that then when I was on this earth called

  184. the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit. I'm going to send it back to

  185. planet earth. And I'm going to show you some

  186. signs and some wonders and miracles.

  187. And if you'll just believe in me, these signs, wonders and

  188. miracles will follow you. He said, I'm going to teach you

  189. things to come man, and I'm going to bring you into all

  190. wisdom and all knowledge and understanding of my word.

  191. You're not going to be this little confused, dumb Christian

  192. running around not knowing what the Bible says and not

  193. understanding the Bible. Never let your ears hear your

  194. mouth say I don't understand the Bible.

  195. I may not right now, but I'm going to dig and I'm going to

  196. seek the Holy Ghost and I'm understand what it says about my

  197. situation. Somebody ought to say a man, you

  198. can trust him this morning, but you can't trust him if you're

  199. leaning on your own understanding.

  200. Can't do it. It's not going to happen.

  201. But you see, church, it's hard to trust when you lean on your

  202. own understanding. Many think it's about

  203. understanding. This Christian walk preached a

  204. message one time, real country Hick message.

  205. It ain't no thinking thing. Hey man, this ain't no thinking

  206. thing. If you got to think about

  207. serving God, guess what, you're not serving Him because the

  208. enemy's in your thought process and he's fixing to Jack you all

  209. up and mess you all up, and it ain't no thinking thing.

  210. I don't, I'm going to thank God. I ain't got to get up in the

  211. morning and think, Well, am I going to serve God or the devil

  212. that it ain't no thinking thing. I settled that a long time ago.

  213. Hey, man, it ain't no thinking thing.

  214. I wake up, say, God, what we going to do today?

  215. Whoo, what are we going to do today?

  216. I don't understand it. I don't understand it.

  217. For most, it's like this. They try to understand it.

  218. They spend a lifetime trying to understand it, trying to fight

  219. with their denomination about what they can and can't do.

  220. I found God to let me do about anything I want to do, as long

  221. as he's involved. Hey, man.

  222. And it don't go against his word.

  223. You say anything you want to do. Yeah.

  224. Because see, there's some things change in my life when I got

  225. born again that I don't want to do.

  226. So the things the world's battling with and want to do,

  227. guess what? I don't want to do them anymore.

  228. Why? Because I trust.

  229. I trust, but I don't understand it.

  230. It's where most hang out. Show me and I will believe God.

  231. Do something. God bless me, give me something.

  232. For most, they're not wanting anything spiritual.

  233. Hello. We talk about blessing.

  234. It's very seldom in the intellect of the mind.

  235. Come on, somebody does. Does bless me mean spiritual in

  236. the church anymore? It's material, physical,

  237. financial. But yet the word of God says

  238. many are the afflictions of the righteous.

  239. But God knows how to deliver us out of them all.

  240. Bless me Lord, and I'll follow. No, He says, follow me and I

  241. will bless you. See, that's the first thing we

  242. have to we have to remember, am I the only one that has things

  243. going on their life this morning that they don't understand?

  244. But you'll drive yourself crazy trying to understand.

  245. I just choose to not understand anymore the Holy Spirit.

  246. A few weeks ago I was praying and praying for brother.

  247. I don't understand why someone has to go through what he went

  248. through. I can't even understand

  249. especially some, you know, I was praying to God.

  250. I said God, I deal with people every day.

  251. They're able bodied and they got all these excuses of why they

  252. can't get up and why they can't go to work when there's a job on

  253. every corner and they can find a way to provide for their self

  254. and their family and help their self esteem.

  255. And all my brother wants is a chance.

  256. A man, I'd go see him with tubes hanging all out of him.

  257. And he said I just got to get back to work.

  258. I want to get back to do it. So I'm tired of laying here.

  259. But yeah, those people that can that just waste their life on

  260. their excuse and what's going on with it?

  261. I don't understand it. I said, God, all my brother

  262. wants is a chance. Would you give him a chance?

  263. I said I don't understand it. Hey man, the Holy Spirit a few

  264. weeks nights ago and I was praying that weeks ago it spoke

  265. to me and he said this and you don't have to understand

  266. somebody needs that this morning.

  267. You don't have to understand. You just got to trust you got to

  268. trust Isaiah chapter 55 verse 8 and 9 since for my thoughts are

    Isaiah 55:8

  269. not your thoughts. Don't look at your wife and

  270. repeat that my thoughts are not your thoughts.

  271. You know when you get born again, the thoughts that you

  272. used to have, they're not your thoughts anymore.

  273. They may enter into your mind, but they're not yours because

  274. they have no rightful authority to beware in your mind, because

  275. you now have what the mind of Christ, so that it may enter in,

  276. but it has no rightful authority.

  277. And I have to count down and count that, cast down

  278. imaginations and every stronghold that enters into my

  279. mind and take it captive, right? That's what the apostle Paul

  280. said, lest it becomes a part of me.

  281. And I have to bring down all those things and bring them

  282. under the authority in the submission of God.

  283. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor my ways or your

  284. ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher

  285. than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways.

  286. See, we can understand the things of God.

  287. If God could give you His purpose and plan for your life

  288. today and what he really had for us that we're missing, we

  289. wouldn't understand it. We wouldn't go do it most

  290. because there's so much higher than our thoughts, right?

  291. The more the closer I get to God, the more I realize, the

  292. less I understand. I, I guess I'm backwards for

  293. most preachers, they seem to be the senior pastor and have it

  294. all figured out. I'm not that guy.

  295. Hey man, I'm figuring it out every time I step up here.

  296. I was sitting in the middle of traffic the other day and Friday

  297. when I when I seen brother and went and prayed with him and I

  298. was sitting there at this red light.

  299. And if you ever go over there, it's a different world to me.

  300. It's a world I don't want no part of, but I'm setting

  301. downtown with all the buildings and my wife is hooked up to a

  302. chemo and fusion. And I said I'm going to run, see

  303. my brother because I know he's not doing good.

  304. I want to pray with him. And so I'm trying to get over

  305. there and I'm sitting at a red light and this phone's talking

  306. to me. Turn this way.

  307. And I know I need to turn that way.

  308. I like to argue with it. I just got this sense of

  309. direction that God give me and it's very, it's wrong sometimes,

  310. but that's my wife. But the older I get, the more

  311. it's getting wrong. But I always know which way I'm

  312. going most time N SE or West. The problem is they change

  313. directions to some of them streets over the years and they

  314. they don't go the same direction.

  315. But I'm sitting there and I'm thinking about all these things

  316. and going, how do I pray with my brother that's been in here?

  317. How God, what do you give me? And I'm sitting in a red light

  318. and trying to understand and the Spirit of the Lord is still

  319. speaking to me. Don't, you don't have to

  320. understand, just trust distrust. And as I'm sitting there at this

  321. red light, I see this thing come by me turning.

  322. I look and it's got propellers on the top of it just to spin

  323. it. It's got things on the side of

  324. it, just a flopping. And I look and there's nobody in

  325. it. Traveler's car.

  326. I hadn't seen one like it, but I'm sitting there looking at it

  327. and I think, is this thing going to hit me who's driving a nobody

  328. in it and it knew the turn when the light that zooms by me, I'm

  329. like, Lord, I heard my dad say one time he said I've outlived

  330. my time. I'm understanding that

  331. statement, but I see this car go by and I and I'm already being

  332. told by the Holy Ghost to trust going to pray for somebody that

  333. you really don't know if God wants them to go on the glory,

  334. pray against the plan of God or God wants to heal them and and

  335. and keep them lit the mind just sometimes go God saying trust.

  336. I said Lord, I trust, but that car ain't got nobody in it.

  337. You give wisdom too. Surely people got no sense not

  338. to turn a loose car on the road. God I do trust, but I got wisdom

  339. and then I hear lean not so I lean not on my own understanding

  340. and went on and prayed with my brother and pick my wife up, did

  341. what I was there to do. And I'm not leaning on my own

  342. understanding. But I, but you know, later on

  343. the Holy Spirit spoke to me about that.

  344. And because I, I mean, I'm against it, I'll tell you

  345. somebody not driving a car or a big truck.

  346. But you know what the Holy Spirit told me later, He said,

  347. I've given human beings a head, some of them the size of a

  348. softball, some of them a basketball.

  349. God's humorous. And he said I've given them

  350. enough brain in there and enough sense that yes, they can drive a

  351. car. I just had this thought, you

  352. know, I thought they were just talking, he said.

  353. But they got something in their hand that causes them not to use

  354. anybody guilty their brain at all.

  355. So I've created something that has more intellect and is more

  356. responsible than what I created to do what I put it on this

  357. earth to do. But yet it's so distracted

  358. talking about us that that driverless car has probably has

  359. less percentage of having an accident than my children do

  360. with distraction. I thought that could be true.

  361. Lean not. On your own understanding, but

  362. in all thy ways acknowledge him. I still don't agree with the

  363. space shot. I thought it was a storm chaser.

  364. I thought matter we under tornado watch or what they got

  365. all these deals on this. That's my first thought.

  366. It's a storm chaser car, but no one was a driverless car and

  367. they're doing them with big trucks.

  368. We're to lean on Jesus, but we're never to lean on our what

  369. our own understanding. Trust in the Lord with all your

  370. heart. Somebody getting this this

  371. morning, lean not on your own understanding, but in all your

  372. ways. Acknowledge Him and he shall

  373. direct your paths. I think of the paths that he's

  374. directed in my life, Man, I'm glad I was trusted.

  375. Man, I'm glad I was leaning. See, when I lean on my own

  376. understanding and I begin to trust God, I move into a

  377. different realm of faith. See that cars more focused on a

  378. task than I can be because it has one goal in mind.

  379. What would life be like if we quit focusing on all the tasks

  380. and begin to focus on what God has for us?

  381. What would the church be like if we entered into the doors and

  382. didn't worry about somebody playing off key or the preacher

  383. getting the word wrong? Hello.

  384. But we come in and say God, what are you trying to teach me

  385. today? What are you trying to show me

  386. today? Where do you want me?

  387. I think of a story that I heard years ago and many modern day

  388. preachers have preached this story, but I heard it when I was

  389. a little kid by an old Pentecostal preacher and I've

  390. never forgot it. It's, it's been preached by a

  391. lot of people, different sermons, but it's about a story

  392. of a young man and his grandfather, which was an old

  393. farmer. And he had this old barn out

  394. there. And from the time the boy was

  395. young till he got a little bit older, he, he would fall over it

  396. off and trip over these posts that the old farmer had cut

  397. because the barn was leaning a little bit.

  398. And he had cut the post to just the right angle and propped them

  399. up against this barn. And the barn was leaning and the

  400. old posts were always in the way.

  401. And the kid asked his grandpa one day.

  402. He said, I've not known for years what these old poles are

  403. for, but they're up against this barn.

  404. And his grandpa tells him the story.

  405. He said, well, son, there was a time I didn't have enough money

  406. to build a barn and I had cattle and I had things I had to put in

  407. that barn. And he said that barn was

  408. leaning. So he said I cut those poles and

  409. I took him on the lean inside of that barn and he said I, I

  410. propped it up and he said that barn's lasted a long time.

  411. How many's got to lean inside this morning?

  412. See, we lean on our own understanding and in most of our

  413. ways, if I could rewrite that scripture to fit us today, we

  414. don't acknowledge God. He don't direct our paths

  415. because we have leaned on our own understanding and we've not

  416. trusted God, right? So he's not directing our paths.

  417. The leadership of our country, you could transfer it to them

  418. and say, oh, they're leading us in a godly direction.

  419. Not if they're leaning on their own understanding, not if

  420. they're not trusting God. They're not.

  421. It may be the best for your pocketbook.

  422. We're so dumb now. We follow leadership and they

  423. say, oh, it's going to get better.

  424. And then we pay $5 a gallon for gas.

  425. But boy, we lean on their understanding.

  426. I'm just being honest with you. I like results.

  427. Go ahead and laugh. But this young man, he said, I

  428. still don't understand. Why didn't you just build

  429. another one? You know, I begin to think about

  430. that story. I need propping up on my lean

  431. inside sometimes because I lean on my own understanding.

  432. Y'all don't do that do you? I lean on my own understanding

  433. and I get all messed up and then to me tries to get in my mind

  434. and make me lean on my own understanding.

  435. God can prop you up on your leaning side.

  436. He said I've propped that old barn up years ago and he said

  437. you know how many storms it's kept off my cattle?

  438. You know how many storms that it's led me through?

  439. See if we'll let God prop us up on our leaning side and lean not

  440. on our own understanding, but in all of our ways.

  441. Acknowledge Him. You may be leaning, you may be

  442. broken a little bit, but He can prop you up when you begin to

  443. not lean on your own understanding.

  444. Everybody said tear the barn down, but the old man said no,

  445. it's still got some use in it. Aren't you glad when God found

  446. you? When Jesus come into your life,

  447. He just props you up on your leaning side.

  448. Everyone thought it was finished, it was done with, but

  449. it's still held a purpose. God prop us up on our leaning

  450. side. But in First Corinthians 1 and

  451. 18 it said for the message of the cross is foolishness to

  452. those who are perishing. You ever remember a time in your

  453. life when the message of the cross was foolishness?

  454. You didn't want to hear it. You thought that doing things in

  455. this life was more important than what that ain't giving time

  456. to God. The message of the cross is

  457. foolishness to those who are perishing but to those of us who

  458. I love this right here. But to those who are what we got

  459. a lot of Christians that like to walk around.

  460. I'm saved what Paul said but to those of us who are being saved.

  461. Hey man, daily to those of us who are being, it feels real

  462. good to the mind and the intellect to say, oh, I'm saved,

  463. I'm saved. We really encourage ourself for

  464. that. But I'd rather say, you know

  465. what, without Christ, I'm nothing.

  466. I'm saved, but I'm being saved from glory to glory, from

  467. victory to victory, he said. But to the for the message of

  468. the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to

  469. us who are being saved, it's the power of God.

  470. Isn't that powerful? It will destroy.

  471. In Corinthians 1, I think it's it goes on to say that it will

  472. destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the

  473. understanding of the prudence. Anybody know what that word

  474. means? There?

  475. They're prude. Prima Donna, I guess, is the way

  476. that I always thought of it. But prudent in the gree, in the

  477. Hebrew and the Greek is to behave wisely, to show

  478. discernment. You know, a lot of people show

  479. discernment, but they don't have discernment, right?

  480. They show it by telling other people what they should do or

  481. what they think they should see. And I'll never forget one time

  482. we was in a prayer line, me and my wife, and there was everybody

  483. was all hyped up because there was a new evangelist that came

  484. and he'd been doing all these things and he'd come by and laid

  485. hands on us and prophesied over us.

  486. And you know, what he prophesied was absolutely nothing that was

  487. going on in our life at the time.

  488. I didn't say, hey, you're wrong, bro.

  489. I just like, well, maybe Miss God, I don't know, He was

  490. showing discernment, but that's what this says.

  491. He says I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to

  492. nothing the understanding of the prudent, to behave wisely, to

  493. show discernment, have insight or prosper through intelligent

  494. action. That's prudent.

  495. And then the Word of God says that He will bring that down.

  496. 1st Corinthians 1 and 27 it says, But God has chosen the

  497. what? The foolish things of the world

  498. to put to shame the wise. And God has chosen the weak

  499. things of the world to put to shame the things which are might

  500. lean not on your own understanding, but in all your

  501. ways acknowledge him. Can I tell you then this

  502. Christian walk, that we walk in this faith walk, don't even call

  503. it a Christian walk anymore because I'm not sure what a

  504. Christian is. The biblical definition of it is

  505. to be Christ like. But I see a lot of people

  506. professing to be Christians that aren't Christ like.

  507. Can I get a witness? But you must never come to a

  508. place that in all of your ways you do not acknowledge him.

  509. I've been there. I've not acknowledged God in all

  510. of our ways, and we still do it many times, you know, and when

  511. we're, you know, a good place to be is when we're really wanting

  512. something in the flesh. Anybody ever really wanted

  513. something, you just didn't want to pray about it?

  514. I'm just going to get it, just going to do it anybody.

  515. I only need to know that you wasn't supposed to do it in all

  516. your ways. Acknowledge Him and He shall

  517. direct your paths. And I'm going to close on this

  518. note. There was a young man one time

  519. and I got a call this week. I told this story years ago and

  520. somebody asked me, brought it back to my memory to I guess I

  521. was preaching and told they want to hear it.

  522. There was a young man and his grandfather was fishing.

  523. He was a teenage boy and he was trying to figure out how to

  524. acknowledge God. How do you acknowledge God?

  525. Well, I know he's the creator of the universe.

  526. I know that God exists. Is that acknowledging God?

  527. Not really. It's acknowledging who he is.

  528. He saved my soul and I'm thankful for years ago when I

  529. prayed the sinner's prayer and he baptized me and I got

  530. baptized and I've been forgiven. And is that acknowledging God or

  531. acknowledging what he did? Few questions that I have and my

  532. question today is in the times that we live and the

  533. distractions that I shared earlier that are so prevalent in

  534. life today, how do you get people to acknowledge God in all

  535. their ways? But back to this grandpa and

  536. this young teenage boy that were fishing and they were sitting

  537. there by the Creek and this boy was battling with everything

  538. that teenagers battle with. And his grandpa had been talking

  539. to him about the Lord and he said, he said, grandpa, he said,

  540. I've heard you talk about that stuff since I was a kid.

  541. And he said, I just come to tell you today, I can't do it.

  542. I can't live for this God that you're talking about.

  543. And I begin to ponder on that. When I got asked to to to tell

  544. someone the story, they wanted to tell it to the youth group.

  545. And the young boy was sitting there.

  546. He said, I'm just giving. I can't do it.

  547. There's no way. An old man was old, but he was

  548. still strong, and the kid had a little mullet.

  549. I used to love the mullets. You know, when you got to fight

  550. with somebody, you get a hold of them.

  551. I was little. I had to cheat.

  552. I had the mullets were good, good holders, you know, I'll

  553. give you a little leverage. But he had this mullet and his

  554. grandpa grabbed him, twisted that mullet up in the back of

  555. his hand and he got him down there by the Creek and he just

  556. dunked him, boy. And he held him to how that boy

  557. was breathing. He was.

  558. He'd let him up. He'd stick him back under.

  559. After about the third time he's about to pass out, he just held

  560. him under. He'd come.

  561. You like to kill me, Grandpa, he said.

  562. When you hunger and thirst after the things of God and you hunger

  563. after righteousness like you did that breath of air, he said

  564. you'll be able to live for God. And when I told that man, he's

  565. teaching a youth group that he's just started and he, he confides

  566. in me for some stories and some things from time to time.

  567. And I sit there and pondered on that.

  568. And that's a true story. If we could hunger and thirst

  569. after God like we do a breath of air, then we could trust, then

  570. we could lean not on our own understanding.

  571. But how do you get somebody, How do you get young people today to

  572. hunger? Prayed for hours about this,

  573. this way? How do you get them?

  574. How do you get grown-ups to hunger?

  575. Minnie's hungry right now, but it's for the Mexican food place.

  576. How do we get that? If there's one thing I thank God

  577. every day for, because I pray with so many people that do not

  578. have it that do not have it, I can be over driving down to be

  579. here in in a, you know, in a truck with somebody and turn a

  580. song on and they just sit there and I got tears running down my

  581. eyes. They do not have that.

  582. I pray that God imparts that, but I thank God, no matter how

  583. hard as you stand your feet that your life gets, if you're in the

  584. House of God today, there's something that brought you here.

  585. There was something that pulled you to the House of God today.

  586. You are to give up on everything in life that's bothering you

  587. right now and just thank Him. Thank him that I didn't lean on

  588. my own understanding today, but I acknowledge you in you and I

  589. thank you for that. God, I don't know if you what

  590. you call it. I hadn't come up with the word

  591. for it because all I know is he said I place within everyone.

  592. Only scripture I've found that kind of backs it up is he says I

  593. place within everyone a measure of the spirit.

  594. So he says it's in everybody. But but you know the thing I if

  595. you don't find somewhere some way to feed it and so many

  596. aren't going to the House of God today and here in biblical

  597. teaching. So I believe God is relying on

  598. us, a man out in the world to put something within somebody.

  599. But the problem is the Christian today hadn't acknowledged God in

  600. all their ways. They have not quit leaning on

  601. their own understanding and just doing what the Bible says.

  602. And most Christians aren't living holy and pleasing to God.

  603. So when the young people see us falling and stumbling and

  604. allowing things into our life that God said don't need to be

  605. there, what how do we get that hunger?

  606. I think it's placed upon us sometimes that they see the

  607. things of God in our life. They see the miracles of God in

  608. our life and they begin to want some of it, Amen.

  609. I know when I was in the rodeo world, I LED more people to the

  610. Lord by just living it. They've come up semantic.

  611. It seems that this stuff don't shake you.

  612. It seems that you just keep living.

  613. I won't want to know what makes you do it.

  614. I said it's all about the blood, Amen?

  615. When you realize that there was a Savior that died for you, that

  616. can cleanse you, that can give you something better than

  617. anything. Anything that your eyes seen or

  618. your ear is heard or your mind can imagine.

  619. The Bible says that's what's laid up for us.

  620. Neither eyes seen, ear is heard nor has it been revealed to the

  621. heart of the man for what God has waiting for those that love

  622. him. My Mama, God help us to not

  623. lean. Say it with me.

  624. Lean not on your own understanding, go practice it.
