  1. Welcome to the Cross Power Church podcast.

  2. You're listening to a service from our church in Campbell, TX.

  3. We pray this message strengthens your faith and points you to the

  4. cross. Now let's join the service.

  5. Do you believe you have the authority that Jesus has given

  6. you? What a wonderful song we should

  7. be singing that undefeated. He's given me the authority.

  8. I speak and miracles start breaking out.

  9. Man, if we really got a hold of that, we'd be speaking a whole

  10. lot more, wouldn't we, brother? We'd be shouting.

  11. We're sitting in the heavenly place undefeated.

  12. And we may say, well, I feel like I'm a little defeated, but

  13. you're not. You're not defeated.

  14. The enemy wants you to think you're defeated, but you are not

  15. defeated, Miss Jennifer. You're not defeated.

  16. You're not. You're a child of the Most High

  17. God. He's given you authority from

  18. God to speak the word over situations.

  19. That's right. Open your mouth, speak it out.

  20. And this has nothing to do with what I'm going to be telling

  21. talking to you all about. It's just, that's such a

  22. wonderful song, man. I love it.

  23. He's our champion and he gives. That's why we're called More

  24. than conquerors, because he's fought the battle and he just

  25. gives us a prize. It's so good.

  26. It's so good. It's so good that God just gives

  27. us authority and He's our champion.

  28. Praise God. Wow, everybody all right?

  29. Loving this cold weather. It's almost Thanksgiving, right?

  30. It's felt like I was driving here and I thought, what?

  31. It's kind of chilly. It might be time to light the

  32. fireplace. I just turned it off.

  33. So anyway, so much for all of that.

  34. God is good all the time. Yes, He is.

  35. And He never fails us. Never fails us.

  36. And I'm going to be talking tonight about, I hope this

  37. doesn't put you all to sleep. In fact, I hope you get your

  38. knife and fork out and chew a little tonight.

  39. So what we're going to do is chew a little.

  40. So we're going to talk about a holiday that's coming up and

  41. it's not Mother's Day. Who knows?

  42. It's not a holiday really, but who knows what's coming up after

  43. Mother's Day. Stop.

  44. Nope. Pentecost Sunday.

  45. Pentecost Sunday on the 24th. This.

  46. Don't go. Oh, don't you do that.

  47. Pentecost Sunday. We were really should celebrate

  48. Pentecost Sunday a whole lot more than what?

  49. I mean, we don't even give it a a a mention usually.

  50. Yeah, I don't even give it a thought.

  51. Nothing. It's just in fact, I had to look

  52. on my calendar and thought, well, when is it, You know, I

  53. added it up, looked on Google, Google told me, OK, I got it.

  54. Now just to make sure, we want to talk about Pentecost Sunday

  55. and a little bit about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Holy

  56. Ghost. So I will say both Holy Ghost

  57. and Holy Spirit. That's just 'cause I can, I'm

  58. old, I can say those things, but I'm going to, I'm going to do a

  59. little trivia real quick and get this out of the way.

  60. Because usually this is a big question, which is an

  61. aggravating question, but it's a big question that a lot of

  62. people talk about when you start talking about Pentecost and the

  63. Upper Room and everything. Do you know what the question is

  64. that everybody ask? How long were they in the Upper

  65. Room? Do y'all know?

  66. No, you don't know. I'm going to make this real

  67. easy. OK, here we go.

  68. Jesus showed himself. He was in the grave.

  69. What, 3 days? He showed himself.

  70. How many days after that? 40 days.

  71. So that's 43 days Pentecost, which is the feast of harvest.

  72. It's the feast of weeks, it's the feast of the first fruits,

  73. and it's Pentecost, feast of Pentecost.

  74. That happens 50 days after Passover.

  75. When was Jesus crucified? Passover, 3 days, 40 days.

  76. That's 43 days. Passover happens on the 50th

  77. day. How many days were they in the

  78. upper room? The seven days?

  79. Exactly 7 days. What does 7 mean?

  80. Complete. Perfect.

  81. That's God's number. You think that's a coincidence?

  82. Do you think they just happen to be in there for seven complete

  83. days? Not at not, not, not at all.

  84. God does not do anything by chance.

  85. It's not a mystery. The Holy Ghost is not a mystery.

  86. Pentecost is not a mystery. He explains it to us in the

  87. Scripture if we take time to dig a little, get your knife and

  88. fork out and dig a little. But the Holy Ghost is not a

  89. mystery. None of that is.

  90. God didn't intend it to be a mystery for us to not to be able

  91. to figure it out. But we have to dig a little.

  92. So I want to give you lots of scripture and you can take this

  93. for what it's worth. But we discovered they were in

  94. enough room. How many days?

  95. Perfect number means complete number.

  96. So we're going to look at that in just a minute.

  97. But Luke 1113 and I've got all my scripture written down.

  98. So I'll if you want to turn to it or write it down, I'll give

  99. you a second. It says, if then though you are

  100. evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much

  101. more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those

  102. who ask Him? So the holy our, our heavenly

  103. Father is going to give us a gift.

  104. Wow. What gift is he going to give

  105. his children? The Holy Spirit?

  106. Are you one of his children? Amen, everybody.

  107. Yes. Is he just going to give it to

  108. certain children? He don't play favorites, right?

  109. So he does not play favorites. So acts of 1 and 13 if you will.

  110. Now this is when they after the ascension, Jesus says y'all go

  111. to the upper room and he says when they had entered they went

  112. up into the upper room where they were staying.

  113. Peter James, John, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew,

  114. Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and

  115. Judas the son of James. How many is that 11 math class?

  116. That's 11. So why is there 11 Judas

  117. Iscariot killed himself right OK so these all I know the Lord was

  118. from or Paul must have been somebody was from Texas.

  119. These all continued in one accord in prayer and

  120. supplication with do you see that with the women, Mary, the

  121. mother of Jesus and his brothers, brothers, brothers.

  122. Acts chapter 2 verse one says when the day of Pentecost was

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  123. fully come, seven, they were in one accord in one place and

  124. suddenly, suddenly the day of Pentecost, the first fruits, the

  125. feast of the harvest, the feast of weeks, whatever they wanted

  126. to call it, that's what it was. Pentecost celebrated 50 days

  127. after the Passover. Actually, that is 7 weeks are 7

  128. Sabbaths and one day, OK, their Sabbath is on a Saturday, so

  129. that's 7 Sabbaths and one day. That is why, in case anybody

  130. ever asks you and people do, why do you worship on Sunday?

  131. It's because that's the day when Jesus rose from the grave and

  132. that's the day that Pentecost fell.

  133. So the Lord does these things for us.

  134. He shows us these things. Nothing is a secret.

  135. Now why do they call it the Feast of Weeks?

  136. Turn with me to Deuteronomy 16, verse 9, and we're going to read

    Deuteronomy 16:9

  137. through verse 11. Now this might take an extra

  138. sharp knife to get through, but here we go.

  139. It says you shall count 7 weeks for yourself.

  140. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time you began to put

  141. the sickle to the to the grain. Now that's important.

  142. Underline that when you begin to put the sickle to the grain,

  143. then you shall keep the feast of weeks to the Lord your God with

  144. tribute to a of a free will offering from your hand, which

  145. you shall give as the Lord your God blesses you.

  146. You shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your sons

  147. and your daughters and your male servants and your female

  148. servants and the Levite who is within your gates, the stranger

  149. and the fatherless and the widow who are among you.

  150. Underline this at the place where the Lord your God chooses

  151. to make his abide. That means his name abide.

  152. It says his temple. OK, it's good.

  153. Pentecost is not only the celebration of the new harvest,

  154. it's also associated later on with the giving of the Torah at

  155. Mount Sinai or giving of the Word of God.

  156. These pieces all fit together. Why is that important?

  157. It's because Jesus is the Word. We are all filled with the Word,

  158. OK? Pentecost celebration was all

  159. inclusive. You just, we just read.

  160. Everyone was invited to take part of all of this.

  161. This feasting. The Jews, the adopted people,

  162. their servants, their slaves, the bond, the free.

  163. Everybody was invited. Everybody brought their first

  164. fruits of their harvest. OK, who's the first fruit of the

  165. resurrection? Jesus.

  166. He's the first fruit, the day of Pentecost was the first fruit of

  167. the harvest of God. Now the last part of Deuteronomy

  168. 16, I told you to underline it says the place where the Lord

  169. your God chooses to make his name live.

  170. OK, abide. So what happened on Pentecost,

  171. Not just the Speaking of tongues.

  172. I don't want anybody to say, oh, they all spoke in tongues.

  173. I don't want. That's not what we're going to

  174. go for. God sent the Holy Spirit to not

  175. just be with us, as Jesus said, but to be in US.

  176. God makes his abode, his name, live in us.

  177. That's why we be called Christians.

  178. We are Jesus followers. We are known by his name.

  179. OK, so on the day of Pentecost that that all took place just

  180. bam like that, you know, God just puts it all there.

  181. So not only did the people speak in tongues in the different

  182. languages, different languages, but God sent his Spirit to be in

  183. us, not to just be long side of us, but although he is.

  184. But to appreciate the baptism of the Holy Ghost, we need to

  185. understand what Luke was talking about in 11 Luke 1113.

  186. And most people think of a gift as material.

  187. When you say I want to give a gift, they all think it's

  188. material. Well, God's going to give you a

  189. gift. Well, oh, I'm going to get a new

  190. mansion or I'm going to get a new car.

  191. Not that's not what he's talking about Jesus teaching about the

  192. Holy Ghost. He refers to the Holy Ghost as a

  193. gift from God. He asked if any man, any one of

  194. them, would give their child something bad if their child was

  195. asking for food. Would you give your child

  196. something that was harmful to them?

  197. No, you wouldn't. So what makes you think the

  198. Father would? He wouldn't.

  199. The point is that if a natural father could would never

  200. consider doing this, how much more would our heavenly Father

  201. give what is good to his children?

  202. Referring to the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost.

  203. The Holy Spirit is the most important gift you can receive

  204. after salvation. That's the most important gift

  205. that you'll ever get after you've received your salvation.

  206. And the Holy Spirit plays a part and active part in that also.

  207. So what does the Holy Ghost do? Well, everybody speaks in

  208. tongues. No, He's your helper.

  209. He's he. He keeps us straight.

  210. He's a fact. He helps us to be effective in

  211. our witnessing. He helps us to give boldness in

  212. our witnessing. He helps us in our prayers.

  213. You know, he, He provides our guidance when we don't know what

  214. to do. Lord, I don't know what to do.

  215. I don't know where to go. What is going on.

  216. Lord, He'll guide you. He will direct you.

  217. And if you start to go through the wrong door, He will slam

  218. that door in your face sometimes.

  219. And then if you decide to open that door anyway, then that's on

  220. you. But the Holy Spirit will guide

  221. us. He draws us to Jesus.

  222. Jesus said nobody comes to me except the Spirit draws him.

  223. Those are the words of Jesus. I've I've got it written down

  224. here somewhere and I'm always getting out of my notes.

  225. But he lives in us. He is not limited to time or

  226. space, just like God is not limited to time or space.

  227. That's just like when we, you know, the Lord says 1000 years

  228. is a day and a day is 1000 years.

  229. It's nothing to God. Time or space makes no

  230. difference to God, makes no difference to Jesus, makes no

  231. difference to the Holy Ghost. And the Holy Ghost is not a the

  232. it's not an it, it's a he, God the Father, God the Son, God the

  233. Holy Ghost, our Holy Spirit, whichever you prefer to call

  234. him. He is also the last

  235. manifestation of God on this earth.

  236. That's important to understand. The Holy Ghost is the last

  237. manifestation of God on this earth.

  238. Now when Scripture says that to blasphemy the Holy Ghost is an

  239. unpardonable sin, right, it doesn't mean that the Holy Ghost

  240. is higher than God. That's not saying, oh, though

  241. you can talk bad about God, but you can't talk bad about the

  242. Holy Ghost. Not come on folks.

  243. The Holy Spirit is the last manifestation of God on this

  244. earth. God the Creator created

  245. everything, all of this great stuff for us.

  246. God his Son came and died for us so that we can have a way to

  247. heaven. God sent the Holy Spirit.

  248. He sent him to live in US and to lead us and guide us.

  249. And so the Holy Spirit is the last, so, so that blasphemy, and

  250. I've had a lot of people worry about this is not just speaking

  251. against something, it is an intentional rejection of the

  252. Holy Spirit. Thereby, it's an intentional

  253. rejection of God. So if the Holy Spirit is the

  254. last manifestation of God on this earth, the thing that draws

  255. you to Jesus for your salvation, then you reject it.

  256. I don't want it. No, I'm do my own thing.

  257. I'm going to do my own thing. And the Holy Ghost is wooing you

  258. and drawing you and blocking you every way.

  259. And you keep jumping over those roadblocks and you keep just

  260. ignoring Him. That's the last opportunity you

  261. will have to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

  262. Is that making any sense? So He is the last manifestation

  263. of God on this earth. So when you blasphemy or you

  264. rebel, or you defy or you reject the Holy Spirit's drawing,

  265. you're rejecting God Himself. And if you die in your sin, then

  266. that's on you, not on God. Because God so loved us.

  267. He didn't just love us, He loved us so much that He gave his Son

  268. to die for us. He loved us that He knows our

  269. very parts before we're even born, even in the secret places.

  270. He knows us that intimately. He knows what I'm thinking

  271. before I think it. That's how intimate God is with

  272. us. So you know, when, when we

  273. reject Him and you die in your sin, then you die in your sin,

  274. not God's fault, not at all. The Holy Ghost shows us, brings

  275. us to salvation by persuading us, enabling us to respond to to

  276. God's grace. And I said John 6 and 44 is the

  277. Scripture. I was going to say no one comes

  278. to Jesus unless the Father draws him.

  279. How does the Father draw him? Through the Holy Ghost?

  280. OK, That's how we're drawn to Jesus.

  281. Anybody come to Jesus? Because you decided one day

  282. you're just going to change your life.

  283. Make up your mind. I'm just going to.

  284. I'm going to do it. I'm going to try out what these

  285. people have got going on. I don't think so.

  286. I think that sitting in a service somewhere or listening

  287. to a song somewhere or hearing somebody give their testimony

  288. somewhere and the Spirit of God was drawing you and you thought

  289. I got to have some of that. I want that what that's about.

  290. And the Spirit of God is wooing you and drawing you and loving

  291. you and drawing you. That's when you come down to the

  292. altar and you cry out to God and say, God, I'm a Sinner.

  293. Not because you think you're a Sinner, but because the Holy

  294. Ghost shows you you're a Sinner. OK, I, I, I want this to sink

  295. in. I want y'all to see this, the

  296. importance of the Holy Spirit of God.

  297. It makes believers new creatures in Christ.

  298. He also seals us unto the he's sealing us for salvation.

  299. Let me, Ephesians 4 and 30, I want y'all to look at this.

  300. Let me get a drink. And do not grieve the Holy

  301. Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed for the day of

  302. redemption. What's that day?

  303. What's the day of redemption? It's the day that we may not be

  304. around anymore. He has sealed us.

  305. We have a seal of the Holy Spirit on your head.

  306. If you're a child of the most high God and you've been saved

  307. and you filled with the Holy Spirit of God, you have a seal

  308. on your forehead. God can see it, His angels can

  309. see it. Remember, if we're going to go

  310. way back to the revelation part of it, God says tells the angels

  311. to you can hurt the everything except the grass, the trees and

  312. those who have my seal upon their forehead.

  313. That's the seal of the Holy Spirit of God, sealed until the

  314. day of redemption. Now, one hindrance, or as I call

  315. it, an excuse for people who do not receive the baptism of the

  316. Holy Ghost, it's because they've mistaken it that the experience

  317. is not for everybody. Do you think that the Holy Ghost

  318. came on the day of Pentecost was a coincidence?

  319. No, God doesn't do anything coincidental.

  320. It was right in line with God's plan.

  321. Why? Because on that day all nations,

  322. men and women, children, boys and girls, bond and free, were

  323. gathered together. That was not a coincidence, OK?

  324. The city was full of visitors, all from all different lands,

  325. all different nations. The city was there.

  326. Everyone was invited to the Feast of Pentecost or the Feast

  327. of the Harvest or the Feast of the Week.

  328. So whatever they wanted to call that, it was all four of those

  329. names. It's got four names.

  330. Actually, we know it as Pentecost and the Feast of the

  331. First Fruits, you know. So everybody was invited.

  332. They were bringing their offering.

  333. It was a big deal. Everybody was there.

  334. So in the upper Room there was more than just 11 people.

  335. How many know who, how many people was in the Upper room?

  336. Oh guys, a 120, a 120 were in the upper Room.

  337. Out of 500 there was 500 people that Jesus said 500 Jesus

  338. talking to him. He says y'all go to the upper

  339. room and wait for the promise. Out of 500 a 120 went and they

  340. were in the upper room and they were, they didn't know.

  341. Do you think they knew what they were waiting on?

  342. They just knew they were waiting on the promise of from God, the

  343. the gift from God. They knew that they were waiting

  344. on that. And so the Holy Spirit was

  345. poured out on everybody who was gathered to their waiting on the

  346. gift of God. They didn't know what to expect.

  347. All they knew there was that suddenly a fire and a wind came

  348. and they were all covered with a tongue of fire.

  349. Acts 2, one through 12. We're going to read that whole

  350. thing. Ready when the day of Pentecost

  351. had fully come, they were all with 1 accord in one place.

  352. They were all there together, just like we're here together

  353. right now, worshipping God. Our minds should be upon the

  354. Lord. That's what their minds were

  355. upon their minds was what is God going to do?

  356. How is going to God? You know Jesus and Can you

  357. imagine all the thoughts they could have been having?

  358. Think about it. And the Lord said, Go, wait.

  359. So we're going to go, wait. And suddenly when the time was

  360. fully come, there came a sound of heaven as a rushing mighty

  361. wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

  362. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as a fire, and

  363. one set upon each of them, and they were filled with the Holy

  364. Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as a spirit gave

  365. them utterance. And there were dwelling in

  366. Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.

  367. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together and

  368. we're confused because everyone heard them speak in his own

  369. language. They weren't just speaking

  370. Hebrew, they were speaking in everyone's language that they

  371. and when they were all amazed and marvel saying to one

  372. another, look, are not all of these speak Galileans unlearned?

  373. They're just unlearned people. They don't know my language.

  374. And how is it that we hear each in our own tongue in which we

  375. were born? Parisians and Medes and the

  376. Lemolites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judah, Cappadocia,

  377. Pontus, Asia, I don't know. And all these other places,

  378. Egypt and parts of Libya and adjoining serene visitors from

  379. Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Christians and Arabs, We hear

  380. them speaking in our own language the wonderful works of

  381. God. OK, they knew what they were

  382. saying, so they were all amazed and perplexed in saying one

  383. another. What could this mean next?

  384. Scripture just says that they were thinking they were drunk.

  385. Then Peter stands up in verse 14.

  386. Peter, the one who denied Jesus three times, the one who wanted

  387. to cut somebody's ear off, the one who was ready to fight at

  388. the drop of the one who won. Well, I'm just going to go back

  389. to fishing. You know when Jesus, I'm just

  390. going to go back and fish. Peter that Peter stood up and

  391. preached. He preached from Joel chapter 2

    Joel 2 chapter mention

  392. what was going to happen and what happened next.

  393. Glad you asked. Verse 37 of chapter 2.

  394. Now when they heard this, they, the people who were outside of

  395. the upper room, not in the upper room, but outside of the upper

  396. room, they didn't have doors and windows and air conditioning,

  397. OK? So it was all open.

  398. When they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to

  399. Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what

  400. shall we do? Then Peter said to them, Repent

  401. and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus

  402. Christ for the remissions of sin, and you shall receive the

  403. gift of the Holy Spirit, for the promise is to you.

  404. Underline this. If you don't have this

  405. underline, underline it anyway, for it is to you and your

  406. children and all to those that are far off, as many as the Lord

  407. our God will call. With which many words he

  408. testified and exhorted them, saying, be saved from this

  409. perverse generation. Then those who gladly received

  410. His word were baptized that day. About 3000 souls were added in

  411. one day in just a few hours from 120 people to 3120 people with

  412. just one person preaching. What what happened if that all

  413. got up and started preaching to these people and telling them

  414. about God and what all of this meant.

  415. And this is his gift from God, and he's going to change us and

  416. he's going to, you know, do all of this stuff that I've just

  417. already told you that the Holy Spirit's going to do for us.

  418. Now, who is the gift of the Holy Ghost?

  419. Who is this Holy Ghost? Joel 2 and 28.

  420. You all know this. I know you do.

  421. It shall come to pass afterward that I want you to listen to

  422. this and underline it if you can, that I will pour out my

  423. spirit on all flesh. Who's speaking here of God

  424. through his prophet. He's saying I will pour out my

  425. spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters

  426. shall prophecy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young

  427. men shall see visions. And also my manservants and my

  428. maidservants, I will pour out my spirit.

  429. In those days, who's the gift for God's people?

  430. You call yourself a child of God.

  431. It's for you. It's not a mystery.

  432. It's not something spooky like so many have made it into.

  433. Man has really messed up a lot of stuff about the Bible

  434. sometimes. That revival spread to Samaria

  435. and including the House of Cornelius and Joppa.

  436. Gentile's house. He was a gentile.

  437. He wasn't even Jew Gentile. Thank God for that.

  438. Then they went to Ephesus, and the physical evidence of

  439. receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost is speaking in

  440. tongues. While speaking in tongues is

  441. symbolic of you yielding yourself to God, here I am Lord

  442. and God. A sign of receiving the Holy

  443. Ghost is speaking in tongues. Is that the only purpose for

  444. receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost is that I can speak

  445. in tongues? No, not at all.

  446. There's much, much more. Because the speaking in tongues

  447. did what? It got their attention.

  448. It got the attention of all those people that were in that

  449. town on that day celebrating, probably party in a little bit.

  450. It got their attention. How do we hear this?

  451. What do it's like when you're sitting in the service and the

  452. preachers preaching right in your face?

  453. He's got your number. That's the Holy Spirit, not the

  454. preacher. That's the Holy Spirit of God

  455. saying, you say this, you say this, you say this, and that.

  456. God has put you in a right spot to hear what He wants his man or

  457. woman to say, right? So that's what's going on here.

  458. The fruit of the Spirit is speaking in tongues.

  459. No, it's love and it's joy and it's peace and it's

  460. long-suffering and it's kindness and it's goodness.

  461. It's faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

  462. Against such there is no law. You can't be criticized for

  463. that. And those who are in Christ have

  464. crucified the flesh with his passions and desires.

  465. The Holy Ghost will help you crucify your flesh.

  466. He will. If we live in the Spirit, let us

  467. also walk in the Spirit. Let us the verse 26.

  468. Let us not become conceited. I'll say it again.

  469. This is, I'm sorry, this is Galatians 5 and 26.

  470. I skipped that part, didn't I? Galatians 5 and 26 right here

  471. says let us not become conceited.

  472. Provoking one another to envying one another.

  473. What do you mean conceited? I can speak in tongues and I've

  474. never heard you speak a word. I go to this church because we

  475. speak in tongues and you don't go to a church that speaks in

  476. tongues. Let us not, God told us.

  477. Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, you know

  478. to envy. Man, I wish I could do this like

  479. Brother Lance could do it. I don't.

  480. Yep. And Yep, not me.

  481. God knows me. It goes on in verse Galatians 6.

  482. It goes on to tell us that we're supposed to restore those who

  483. have fallen. Oh man, only through the Holy

  484. Ghost can we love somebody who has done us wrong.

  485. You cannot love somebody in your own flesh that has done you

  486. wrong 'cause our flesh wants to just get up and punch somebody

  487. that oh, I'm sorry, that's just my flesh, right?

  488. Y'alls don't want to do that. Sisters on Sunday night know who

  489. I am. But it's only through the Holy

  490. Spirit that we can love somebody that has done us wrong or

  491. somebody who doesn't like us. You know, we can believe.

  492. As believers, we walk in the Spirit.

  493. As we walk in the Spirit, same Holy Ghost, as we walk in the

  494. Spirit, we step by step, our life, our actions, our attitude

  495. will be transformed by the Holy Ghost, by the Holy Spirit.

  496. You cannot do it on your own. The Holy Spirit, he can be seen

  497. in our lives by the way we relate to other people and by

  498. the way we relate to God. Oh, he can be seen in our lives

  499. by the way we relate to God. We're not supposed to take God

  500. casual, Not at all. And the Holy Spirit of God will

  501. tell you that. Now you can brush it off and you

  502. can quit hear it, that kind of thing.

  503. But God is not to be taken casual.

  504. Yeah. Most Christians have learned

  505. it's not easy to keep the old nature under control.

  506. Has everybody learned that? That's why the Holy Ghost helps

  507. us, helps believers to live a life that does not give into the

  508. sinful nature 'cause our spirit wants to go and do stuff that

  509. the Lord says don't go do. Everybody has a battle.

  510. The Holy Spirit of God, that's why.

  511. Who? That's the one that's saying

  512. don't do that, don't go there. That's the Holy Spirit of God

  513. living inside of you. You can reject him, you can push

  514. him away and you can do your own thing because he's a gentleman.

  515. He is not going to interfere, you know.

  516. But a spirit filled life is marked by boldness to tell

  517. others about God, about Jesus. It's marked by unity.

  518. This church has great unity. I love it.

  519. And compassion, great compassion that means you, you feel when

  520. others hurt, you feel it. You're there for them.

  521. You have compassion upon them. Living in the Spirit is also

  522. characterized by a powerful ministry.

  523. And as I wrote that down, I've written this three days, you

  524. know, I read it, write it, rewrote it, make notes in the

  525. pair. I do that all the time.

  526. After I've written it, I rewrite it and then I make notes in the

  527. sidebars. So I just did this today, the

  528. notes and the sidebars that you're going to get here in a

  529. minute. But living in the Spirit is

  530. characterized by power. And when I say powerful

  531. ministry, I'm not talking about preaching, singing, playing an

  532. instrument. I'm talk about the boldness to

  533. talk to your family, to talk to somebody else, the boldness to

  534. say, where do you go to church? Do you?

  535. I don't have a church. Well, let me tell you about our

  536. church. Well, I don't want to offend

  537. anybody. The Holy Spirit will give you

  538. the boldness and once you step out and do it once and twice,

  539. the next time it's not a big deal.

  540. You just ask. You just start talking to him

  541. and the Spirit of God will give you the right words to say.

  542. He really will. You know, so when we talk about

  543. a ministry, we're not just talking about the the three or

  544. whatever it is, you know, I'm talking about the boldness to

  545. talk to our families and to other people and someone you

  546. really don't know. You know, we can't keep all of

  547. this to ourselves because we will be held accountable, OK?

  548. We cannot keep God's word to ourselves and the Spirit of God

  549. will unction you anything. I want you to go talk to that

  550. person. No, God, I'm busy.

  551. I got, I got to go. I want you to go.

  552. I want you to go here. I, I don't have no business

  553. going over there. Lord, I don't want you know I'm

  554. go there. He will unction you.

  555. That's a ministry, people talking to people and you will

  556. be held accountable when you stand before God could be

  557. somebody's blood on your hands. And I hate to say that folks,

  558. but it's the word. Is it not the word.

  559. You be held accountable. Somebody's blood could be on

  560. your hands. You could have told that person,

  561. don't go there, come with me. They may be going out.

  562. I'm going to go get drunk. I'm going to go do this and I'm

  563. going to go do that. No, come, come with me.

  564. Just come to my house and let's let's talk.

  565. Let's you don't have to say come to church right away.

  566. Just come. Let's be friends and the Holy

  567. Spirit will unction you and He will talk to you.

  568. That's a ministry to be able to talk to people.

  569. And when the Lord tells you to do it, you better do it.

  570. He works in us, in our attitudes, in our actions.

  571. He's a comforter, He's a counsellor.

  572. He comes alongside of us. I heard Jerry say that a minute

  573. ago. He comes alongside of us.

  574. He guides us through unfamiliar territory.

  575. He helps us find secure footing. And I love this, even though I

  576. wrote it down. He helps us to find secure

  577. footing, and then he reaches back and helps us come along.

  578. Can you get that picture? He's in here.

  579. Take that step. Go there.

  580. Go there and you're back here and you're going.

  581. I'm scared. I'm scared.

  582. And he says, here, come on, come on.

  583. That's what the Holy Spirit of God does for us.

  584. I love that. Isn't that a beautiful picture

  585. of how he, he grabs, he reaches back to encourage us that you

  586. can make this, you can do this. That's what he does.

  587. Ephesians 5 and 15. I'm getting warmed up here

  588. y'all. It says, see that you walk

  589. cautiously, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time,

  590. because the days are evil. Wow, wherefore be ye not unwise,

  591. but understanding what the will of God is?

  592. Or how can I understand what the will of God is?

  593. The Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit will give you

  594. understanding in his Word. And the next time you're asking,

  595. you want to know how many people were in the upper room?

  596. 120 You want to know how many days they were in the upper

  597. room? 7 Don't you look at somebody and

  598. go so you know he will give you understanding of the Word and he

  599. will help you. Now I'm almost done.

  600. I just got a page and a half and it's all scripture.

  601. So first Corinthians 14. What about tongues?

  602. What's all that? Tongues.

  603. You know, I'm not against tongues.

  604. I speak in tongues, OK? I pray in tongues.

  605. I'm not saying don't. I'm not saying that.

  606. I'm just saying when you seek God, don't seek tongues.

  607. Does that make sense? Seek God, seek God, seek the

  608. Holy Spirit and he'll give you what you need.

  609. Some of y'all are quiet and it scares me.

  610. It's 14 and one it says pursue love and desire spiritual gifts,

  611. but especially that you may prophecy prophecy.

  612. Oh hear you people. Thus saith the Lord, prophecy

  613. means to speak forth the message of God.

  614. Speak forth, deliver God's word to people, to comfort them, to

  615. strengthen them, to encourage them.

  616. OK, prophecy means to speak God's words to somebody.

  617. Doesn't mean you have to wear sackcloth and stand on the

  618. streets and speak God's word. Prophecy speaking forth God's

  619. word. For he who speaks in tongues

  620. does not speak to men, but to God, for no one understands him.

  621. However, in the Spirit he speaks mysteries, but he who prophecies

  622. speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.

  623. Now I thought edification. What's that going?

  624. What edification? It is the same thing.

  625. It means to instruct somebody, to improve somebody, to

  626. strengthen somebody. Same thing as I just said, to

  627. edify them, give them understanding, give them

  628. instructions, he says, and come. He who speaks in a tongue

  629. edifies himself. But he who prophecies edifies

  630. the Church. I wish you all spoke with

  631. tongues, but even more than that you prophesied.

  632. For he who prophesizes greater than he who speaks with tongues,

  633. unless indeed he interprets that the Church may receive

  634. edification. But now, brethren, if I come to

  635. you speaking with tongues that I shall profit you, what shall I

  636. profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by

  637. knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching?

  638. In other words, Paul is saying, I can come here and I can speak

  639. in tongues, but you're not going to know what I'm saying.

  640. You're not going to understand. So I'm not edifying you.

  641. I'm not instructing you, I'm not building you up.

  642. I'm just look, you're looking at me like a calf at a new gate.

  643. What's this? You know, that's what he's he.

  644. Like I said, he's from Texas. Verse 13.

  645. Skip down to verse 13. Therefore, let him who speaks in

  646. tongues pray that he may interpret, For if I pray in a

  647. tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

  648. What is the conclusion then? This is Paul.

  649. I will pray with the Spirit, and I will also pray with

  650. understanding. When you don't know how to pray,

  651. the Spirit will pray through you.

  652. He will pray for you and there's been a many a time, Lord, I

  653. don't know what to say. And the next thing I know, the

  654. Spirit of the Lord takes over and He's praying through me for

  655. the situation. I know what the situation is and

  656. it's just me and God and He's praying 'cause I don't know even

  657. know how I mean. All I can think is kill him.

  658. Lord no. So you know, that's, that's,

  659. that's what he prays through US and that's scripture, guys,

  660. that's scripture. I just didn't print it out for

  661. you. But the Spirit of God, when you

  662. don't know how to pray, the Spirit will pray for you with

  663. groanings and murmurings. Sometimes all I can do and I

  664. have done it before, it's just moan and groan and weep and cry

  665. and go God, I don't know how to say I don't know what you're

  666. doing. I don't know what's happening

  667. now but he does and he's listening to my heart through

  668. the Holy Ghost. OK that's what's happening.

  669. It says where was I otherwise if you bless if you bless with the

  670. Spirit and how will he is verse 16.

  671. He who occupies the place of the uninformed, say Amen at your

  672. giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you're

  673. saying. 17 for you indeed give thanks well, but the other is

  674. not edified. You may be having a good high on

  675. time, but nobody's understanding a word.

  676. And I got a story about that. I guess I'll stop right here at

  677. verse 18 and I'm going to pick it back up.

  678. Before I was born, which was a long time ago, my grandpa was a

  679. preacher. And back in those days they did

  680. little churches. They had no screens, they had no

  681. windows, They might have even been in a brush Arbor, I don't

  682. know. But they were in Oklahoma and

  683. grandpa was preaching in the spirit of God came upon him and

  684. he preached a whole message in tongues, which to the people

  685. that was there they go. However, there was a car parked

  686. out alongside the road and after the service was over, the people

  687. in the car came up and said, how did you know how to speak our

  688. language? And he said I didn't.

  689. And he said I'm full blood Cherokee and you were speaking

  690. perfect Cherokee. God can do that.

  691. God can do that. The Holy Spirit can do that.

  692. Hallelujah, he can do that. So verse 17 is where I left off

  693. right for you indeed give thanks well, but the others is not

  694. edified. 18I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you

  695. also. So Paul was a little bragging

  696. here. Yet in the church I would rather

  697. speak 5 words with my understanding that I may teach

  698. others also than 10,000 in a tongue.

  699. Brethren, do not be children in understanding, however, in

  700. malice be babies, but in understanding be mature.

  701. In other words, if you're hating on somebody, you're being a

  702. baby. So let's be mature with our

  703. understanding from God and the law.

  704. It is written when men of other tongues and other lips.

  705. I will speak to these people, and yet for all that they will

  706. not hear me. They don't hear, says the Lord.

  707. Therefore tongues are a sign. Oh, listen to this.

  708. Therefore, tongues are assigned not to those who believe, but to

  709. the unbelievers. Those people in that car sitting

  710. on the side of the road got saved that night.

  711. Now, I don't know the other people in the church, They

  712. probably saw that, saw what was happening, so they were edified,

  713. glorified Hallelujah too. But prophesying is not for

  714. unbelievers, but for those who believe.

  715. So when we're speaking forth the word of God and I'm doing

  716. teaching like I'm doing now and speaking the word of God to

  717. people, unbeliever could be sitting here in the service.

  718. And unless the Holy Spirit is drawing them to us, not going to

  719. get it. But the Holy Spirit can move in

  720. such a way and he can He can touch that unbeliever person and

  721. he can draw that unbeliever. The I know when I got saved, I

  722. have no clue what the message was about.

  723. I don't know if y'all do it. My experience when I got saved,

  724. I don't know what the preacher said.

  725. I couldn't tell you. All I know is that.

  726. And then the music started playing and I'm going, I don't

  727. know what song they sang. All I knew is I had to get up on

  728. my feet and I raised my hands and the next thing I knew I was

  729. talking in tongues. Just that quick.

  730. He took a bad girl, drug addict, alcoholic and whatever, and

  731. later something different, just like that, just like that.

  732. So the Holy Spirit can do that. If he did it for me, he can

  733. certainly do it for anybody else.

  734. He can do that. That's what he wants to do.

  735. So what happened on the day of Pentecost?

  736. Unbelievers from all over the nation's heard unlearned people

  737. praising God in their language. They were drawn by the Spirit

  738. because they weren't just saying ABC and alphabet and somebody

  739. else's language. They were worshipping God.

  740. It says they were glorifying God, giving God glory and

  741. speaking wonders of God. And they heard that in their

  742. language. And they go, what?

  743. What? These people don't know my

  744. language, so they, well, let's go check this out.

  745. And they did. And then Peter stood up and then

  746. he prophesied. He spoke, spoke forth the word

  747. of God and they said, what do we need to do to be saved, Repent

  748. and be baptized? 3000 people were baptized that

  749. day. Day one, the harvest had begun.

  750. That's why I wanted you to mark all of that stuff is the harvest

  751. began on that day. The word of God started

  752. spreading like never before on the day of Pentecost.

  753. Was it a coincidence? No, it was not a coincidence.

  754. God had a plan. God did it, and he is moving on

  755. us today. Oh, that we would just start.

  756. Lord, what do you want me to say?

  757. Lord, where do you want me to go?

  758. God, how do you want me to pray? Holy Spirit direct my path, but

  759. we don't do that do we got our own agenda.

  760. I'm going to Walmart and I'm not talking to anybody and I'm going

  761. home unless God puts somebody in your path and you go hey, how

  762. you doing? I'm good.

  763. You guys says go back and talk to him.

  764. No, go back and talk to him. OK, how you doing and you talk

  765. and you pick up A and you have to start a conversation and you

  766. don't know what that person, God may say pray for them, but God,

  767. I'm in Walmart, people will be seeing me.

  768. Pray for them. That's what I was.

  769. If I was God, I would sound like that.

  770. Pray for them. That's what the Holy Spirit does

  771. for us. That's what he does for us.

  772. And like I said, it is the last manifestation on this earth that

  773. God is going to have after this. There is no other manifestation

  774. of God until Jesus comes in the clouds.

  775. So if you reject the Holy Spirit of God and you've thought, well,

  776. I don't want the Holy Ghost. I don't want the Holy Ghost

  777. because I see some weird people. And honey, I have seen some

  778. weird people too, but that's not necessarily the Holy Ghost.

  779. I'll just say that right there, not necessarily the Holy Spirit.

  780. When you can walk into a whole church and everybody's jumping

  781. and hopping and nobody's, you don't know what's going on, and

  782. then you leave just as lost as you were when you came.

  783. That is not of God. I'll say that there they were

  784. drawn by the Spirit. Two more verses, verse 23.

  785. Therefore, if the whole church comes together in one place and

  786. I'll speak with tongues, and there's none in those who are

  787. uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of

  788. your mind? What did I just say?

  789. These people crazy, but if all prophecy and an unbeliever

  790. uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by everybody, he is

  791. convinced by all and thus the secrets of his heart are

  792. revealed and so falling down on his face, he will worship God

  793. and report that God is truly among us.

  794. I hope this helps. I hope you are not offended by.

  795. I worry about that Lord, I struggle.

  796. I don't want to give this message.

  797. There might be somebody in there that, you know, thinks I'm

  798. against the Holy Ghost. No, I'm not, but I'm not just

  799. for tongues either. I believe in speaking in

  800. tongues. I do.

  801. I do myself. I pray for people I don't know

  802. what to pray for and I lay hands on and the next thing you know,

  803. I'm praying in tongues. If there's a message given out,

  804. do y'all remember? And I'll, I'll quit here in a

  805. minute. Do y'all remember back in the

  806. day when the church was going on and it was a song playing and

  807. all of a sudden there was a holy hush fall over?

  808. Everybody got quite just everybody.

  809. Nobody told them to. And the next thing you knew, a

  810. message in tongues came out. And then the next thing you

  811. knew, somebody interpreted that tongue, but they knew that that

  812. was from God. A holy hush.

  813. When are we going to get hungry for more of that?

  814. Pastor and I was talking Sunday morning about it.

  815. We used to sit in the service. You couldn't sit in the service

  816. if you were lost and undone without God.

  817. You couldn't sit in the service where you just this is over.

  818. You had one or two choices. You either went to the altar and

  819. got saved or you left a Sinner. There was a drawing even for

  820. children. There was a drawing for little

  821. children. Maybe we need to start praying

  822. and saying, God, send your Spirit to us again.

  823. Send us your Holy Spirit, Lord. Help us, Lord, so that your

  824. spirit will draw those who are longing for you.

  825. Draw those that don't know you like we know Him, and next thing

  826. you know, we're going to have a church full of people who are

  827. saying I need Jesus and they're going to be getting saved.

  828. Wouldn't that be awesome? Last time we, you know, you,

  829. you, your church. Church is usually grown these

  830. days by somebody leaving another church.

  831. I'm going to leave this church and we'll come to that church

  832. 'cause I don't like that church. And then we come to this church

  833. and I don't like this church. So they go to the next church.

  834. But there's no drawing for this Sinner.

  835. I long to see a Sinner saved. Thanks for listening to the

  836. Cross Power Church podcast. May you know that true hope,

  837. peace, and salvation can only be found in Jesus.
