The Cross is Steady

Stat crux, tum volvitor oribis.

The cross is steady, but the world turns.

This week we've had a great turning of the world.

There was many tragedies this past week. There was a high school shooting.

There was the political assassination of Charlie Kirk.

There was also the remembrance of 9-11 after 24 years.

This has been an emotional-filled week, with motions running high, but motions come and go.

The cross is always steady. There was a time way back in the day where I had

the wonderful opportunity to go to Rome, And as I arrived there, I noticed St.

Peter's was pretty much taking over the whole horizon so that no matter where

I went in the city, I could always see St. Peter's.

And there are so many small Italian little side streets that barely a car can get through.

But trust me, cars will try to run you down in them.

But you can always see St. Peter's. And so you know which way you are going.

You know where you needed to go.

It is the same with the cross for us.

Stad crux dum volvitur orbis. The cross is steady, but the world turns.

When we look and celebrate the cross, we are not celebrating a defeat.

We're not celebrating suffering in and of itself, while we're celebrating our redemption.

For that sacrifice that Christ made upon the cross truly set us free from our sins.

In the eyes of the world, it was utter defeat, but for us, it was salvation.

And so when our world is turned upside down, when we don't know where we are

going, let us look to the cross.

And there we can find our direction, we can find our path that we must tread down.

And whenever we are lost, the cross is steady as the world revolves.
