  1. Second Timothy, Chapter two. Second Timothy, Chapter two, starting in

  2. verse twenty. This is the passage of Christia that I've

  3. asked you to read every week while we're in this series.

  4. The Great House. It reads like this, but in a

  5. great house they're not only vessels of gold and silver,

  6. but also of wood and clay, some for honor and

  7. some for dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter,

  8. he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful

  9. for the Master, prepared for every good work. Flee also

  10. youthful nus, but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those

  11. who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

  12. But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.

  13. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel, but

  14. be gentle to all, able to teach, patient in humility,

  15. correcting those who are in opposition. If God perhaps will

  16. grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,

  17. and that they may come to their senses and escape

  18. the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by

  19. him to do his will, let's pray, Father, I thank

  20. you for your mercy and your grace. Lord, I thank

  21. you for what you're doing in your people. And I

  22. pray that this morning you I that you open our

  23. ears to hear and our hearts to receive what you

  24. would say. Lord, that you would invest deeply in our lives,

  25. and that we not hear words, but there be an impartation,

  26. because I believe you have given me a word that

  27. goes to the very foundation of our society. Lord, I

  28. love you, and I thank you in Jesus's name. Amen.

  29. You know, this whole concept of honor is a strange

  30. thing in today's culture. Honor is not something that that

  31. is often spoken of. We spoke, we speak of honor

  32. as if it is a virtue for for those that

  33. are fallen, that served in some capacity, some civil service,

  34. that that that there is a that there's honor to

  35. be bestowed. But this whole concept of honor is something

  36. that's very scriptural, and the lack of honor and the

  37. erosion of honor has also led us to the place

  38. in society where we are now. We have lost what

  39. it means to honor somehow during this age, this uh,

  40. this pursuit of knowledge that we're in we have always strived,

  41. or we are now striving, to always find the next

  42. new thing, the next bit of information, that most powerful

  43. revelation that's out there somewhere, rather than trusting the way

  44. things have always been. I want to assure you that

  45. this pursuit of knowledge and the way we live and

  46. the way we receive and communicate information is a very

  47. short lived thing. The life of it is not what

  48. we think it is. It's hard for us to imagine

  49. that life is any different. You know, when I look

  50. at my life and I look at I can't remember

  51. what it was like not having children. I can't remember

  52. what that was like. I mean, I know there was

  53. a time when I didn't I wasn't born with kids, right,

  54. I mean manly, but not that manly, right. I mean,

  55. you know there was a day where I didn't have

  56. but I don't remember what that life was like. I

  57. certainly don't remember what life was like without Angie. I

  58. don't remember those things. Those things were there, but it's

  59. just the normal. And today we have become so saturated

  60. with this pursuit of knowledge and information that we don't

  61. remember that just a few short years ago, our source

  62. of information was the tribes in which we lived and dwelt,

  63. those tight knit communities that were the source of our

  64. information and our understanding that started often in the family

  65. and came from extended families beyond that, And it was

  66. in those things that we built knowledge upon knowledge upon

  67. knowledge upon knowledge. But based on those those central pillars

  68. of godliness, even if we lived in what looked like

  69. ungodly homes, there were these threads of righteousness in every

  70. single decision and every single family that existed, because there

  71. is just something natural about God's principles that they're there,

  72. even when we don't understand their God's principles, they're there,

  73. and those things are the honor. And when we look

  74. at things like parenthood and family structure, there is honor

  75. to be given to those things. Not the actions, not

  76. the manifestations of our lives, but those principles that are taught,

  77. those principles of work ethic, those principles of humanity, those

  78. principles of kindness, those principles of sympathy, those principles are

  79. the things that we honor, and we honor them because

  80. of those central threads of righteousness that used to exist

  81. and run through each of our tribal communities. And when

  82. I say tribal community, that's not a misappropriation of what

  83. I'm trying to say. I mean those like minded gatherings

  84. of people. And somehow in the very recent past, in

  85. this modern error, we think that that gaining or or

  86. coming together with like minded people, it's been villainized and demonized,

  87. and we think that's a bad thing. That we now

  88. call it echo chambers, that we create, these echo chambers

  89. that we only hear our own ideas. But it was

  90. just a short while ago that that's the way we

  91. all grew. But now we think that's a bad thing

  92. because what society tells us. But it's this erosion of honor,

  93. of holding those central threads as things that are sacred

  94. to be exalted, that we come gone from the entity

  95. that we see in the world today. That we have

  96. gone from these these tight knit groups where we expand

  97. on these principles and we make society better inside our

  98. tribal communities, to now we look around and we have

  99. these ideas that are so far from normal and so

  100. far from founded on anything that there's more than two

  101. genders that exist in the world. I just want each

  102. one of you to think go back to your great

  103. grandparents and think about having a conversation with your great

  104. grandparents about there being more than two genders. Think about

  105. having that with your grandparents, that that there are that

  106. that's something that that Oh, no, we've been wrong for

  107. since creation. We've been wrong. And those things are easy

  108. to see when we look at things that are that

  109. far abstract. But we got there somehow, Come on, somebody,

  110. we got there because we lost this concept of honor

  111. and holding those things up that are worthy to be

  112. held up in the pursuit of what's next, in the

  113. pursuit of knowledge and this next manifestation of whatever it

  114. looks like. We've lost the concept of of togetherness and

  115. the foundations of information and principles that we should be

  116. filled with and stand upon. In Matthew chapter seven, verse thirteen,

  117. it says, enter by the narrow gate. Now, I want

  118. you to contextualize this against the backdrop of society. Enter

  119. by the narrow gate. For whyde is the gate, and

  120. broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there

  121. are many who go in by it. Because narrow is

  122. the gate, and difficult is the way which leads to life,

  123. and there are few who find it when we have

  124. spread the gate so wide that everything is acceptable and

  125. that nothing is sacred, and that nothing is honorable anymore,

  126. that we can look at those things which are obviously honorable,

  127. but allow people to call those things dishonorable. That those

  128. fundamentals of life that have always been those things that

  129. not only have we heard that are true, but that

  130. we feel deep down on the inside are true. I

  131. mean that deep down on the inside. It's not about information,

  132. but there's something at the soulish level. There's something at

  133. the mind, the way in the mind, the will, the emotions,

  134. something that lives down in that part of us that

  135. when we hear something and it just feels right, that

  136. somehow we're afraid to embrace those things that are right

  137. because other people say that those thoughts and those traditions

  138. are dishonorable to society. We have lost the concept of honor.

  139. And it starts when the enemy uses fraction and disinformation

  140. and families and we begin to look at actions rather

  141. than character. We start looking at fairness rather than scripture.

  142. We start looking for happiness rather than resting and joy.

  143. We start looking for Listen. One of the most life

  144. changing things I've heard. It wasn't even someone. I don't

  145. even know if the guy's a Christian. I was just

  146. listening to something and this is what he said. He

  147. said aging. I know I don't say things playing sometimes,

  148. so let me explain what I mean. It's a common

  149. word aging getting older. Come on, somebody. Aging is the

  150. aggressive pursuit of comfort. And I thought, oh my gosh.

  151. When I heard that, I was like, whoa, that's that's me.

  152. I got listen. I own a recliner. Now that it's

  153. like big enough for the whole church to sit in.

  154. It's like that wide. It don't have it doesn't touch

  155. me on either side. I got room from my laptop.

  156. My hat can go there, my phone can go there.

  157. It's got a cup holder. The feet come up, the

  158. thing goes back. I mean show you said there you whoa.

  159. And it was like that was like how many years

  160. did I ask for? I mean for years and everybody

  161. be like ha ha ha. I had this toddler chair, right.

  162. I mean, it was like, you know, I'll be sitting there.

  163. I looked like I was in a strait jacket. And

  164. it was like my vision in life was to have

  165. this recliner because I want comfort, and comfort's not the enemy,

  166. but it's also not the answer. Because see, there's there's

  167. nothing honorable about wanting to push aside the hard things.

  168. What's honorable is embracing the hard things. It's looking at

  169. our lives. And you know, this morning, when I pulled

  170. up my notes, I made the decision to I made

  171. the decision to preach yesterday because everybody was like, no,

  172. take the day off, man, your dad passed away, take

  173. the day off. Take the day off. You know, when

  174. dad retired, he had never taken one vacation day, and

  175. he was under the old accumulation method in the school system,

  176. and he had over fourteen months of personal and sick

  177. time accumulated. The man could have taken vacation for over

  178. a year. And I thought, if he didn't take a

  179. day off, why would I take a day off. I

  180. don't ever take a day off. Why would I take

  181. today off? Come on, somebody, you know? And it's that

  182. work ethic. That's one of those honorable things now where

  183. they're dishonorable thing. Yes, there are things that I don't copy,

  184. but I also don't let the things that we're probably

  185. not right erase the honor of the position of fatherhood.

  186. I don't let the honorable pursuits erase anything this dishonorable

  187. when I look at someone, because the dishonorable also makes

  188. them humanity. And when we separate those two things, we

  189. can hold the position and honor. We can hold the

  190. people in honor and understand that it's not the action,

  191. it's the person. And those threads of righteousness that run

  192. between things that we're supposed to use as the basis

  193. of our information and our knowledge and expand on things

  194. so that we end up with great, powerful things for humanity,

  195. not strange things like there's more than two genders. We

  196. can't reel that back and find that tide to honor anywhere.

  197. We can't. We can't reel a lot of these things

  198. back to the place where there are those righteous pursuits

  199. because we have abandoned honor for knowledge. We've abanned an

  200. honor for just wanting to be right. And I want

  201. you to know that ninety percent of the time, if

  202. it feels new, it's wrong. That if you think you

  203. have found something brand new that no one has ever

  204. seen before, it's probably wrong. If you see something in

  205. scripture that you think has never been seen before one

  206. hundred percent of the time, it's wrong. Honor is the

  207. foundation that holds us and props us up inside our

  208. tribal communities so that we can grow and expand, and

  209. our communities, our gathering of like mindedness, was never created

  210. by God to do everything together. Our communities, our shared beliefs,

  211. and our like mindedness connect with other groups of like

  212. mindedness and other groups of like mindedness until we create

  213. a community, a body that supports one another and can

  214. give sustenance and can give life to each other. So

  215. don't think that because you surround yourself with a community

  216. of people that think like you, that somehow you're invaluable

  217. to society. You're showing honor to those threads of righteousness

  218. that you hold dear, and your ideas expand from there.

  219. In Proverbs chapter four, it's oh, let me change glasses.

  220. In Proverbs chapter four, hear my children the instruction the

  221. instruction of a father, and give attention to no understanding,

  222. For I give you good doctrine. Do not forsake my law.

  223. Let me just stop right there. Everybody look at me.

  224. Everybody look at me. I want to I want to

  225. tell you something right now that listen, you can send

  226. the emails to me on this one. Okay, you don't

  227. have to send them to to Clay or Clay at

  228. seastone or get you said Steve at seastone dot TV.

  229. And I have people ask me this all the time.

  230. You know, should I should I? Should I indoctrinate my children? Yes? Yes,

  231. you should indoctrinate your children. What does that mean? You

  232. should tell your children what's right and what's wrong. You

  233. should tell them right and you should tell them wrong.

  234. You should tell them the processes to come up with

  235. what is right and the process that that takes to

  236. come up with what is wrong. You need to teach

  237. them those things. You need to teach them sound good doctrine,

  238. because the world is not going to teach them anything.

  239. The world is gonna say everything goes and there is

  240. no truth whatever you think is truth, and the lack

  241. of truth leads to death. So yes, you need In Proverbs,

  242. he says, listen, you've got my doctrine. I give you

  243. good doctrine. Do not forsake it. When I was my

  244. father's son, tender and the only one in the sight

  245. of my mother, he also taught me and said to me,

  246. let your heart, retain my words, keep my commands, and live,

  247. get wisdom. Wisdom is the application of knowledge. Wisdom comes

  248. perverted when knowledge is perverted. When we don't have truth

  249. as the basis of knowledge, we will not have truth

  250. as the basis of wisdom. That if our wisdom is

  251. based on erroneous information, that will not apply in the

  252. real world and will not bring us back to a

  253. place of truth. He also taught me and said to me,

  254. let your heart retain my words, keep my commandments, and live,

  255. get wisdom, get understanding. Do not forget nor turn away

  256. from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her,

  257. and she will preserve you. Love her and she will

  258. keep you. Number seven I mean verse seven. Wisdom is

  259. the principal thing. Therefore, get wisdom, and in all you're getting,

  260. get understanding. How do we expect society to get understanding

  261. if we're not giving explanation? How can someone get understanding

  262. if they don't have a basis of honor and those

  263. threads of righteousness that are woven through their communities and

  264. their support structures. There is no way to get understanding

  265. for something that is not understandable. There's no way to

  266. get understanding for something that has no basis in truth,

  267. because it can mold in shape and become whatever the

  268. enemy wants it to be. But everything we as believers

  269. believe is founded in the truth of the Gospel of

  270. Jesus Christ, and everything should point from there and to there.

  271. Whether we're dealing with other believers or whether we're dealing

  272. with the lost, our doctrine remains the same. And we

  273. honor humanity because Jesus died for humanity. Listen, doesn't matter

  274. how ornery and mean spirited our parents are. We honor

  275. them because God set up the institution of parenthood and childhood,

  276. and we better line up and start honoring our parents

  277. because it is the first commandment, with promise that we

  278. would live long and prosperous lives. Now let me just point,

  279. let me just let me look at that scripture last week.

  280. They didn't hear me. Come, so Clay, I'm ready for

  281. the band to come. Well know what happened is sometimes,

  282. you know, I usually do it pretty well in transition,

  283. but I did it in the middle of a thought

  284. last time, and I don't know how. You know, you know,

  285. sometimes I don't do it right. I was in formed

  286. last week, I didn't do it right, So this week

  287. I did it right. We have these we have these moments.

  288. We have these moments where where we discover a revelation

  289. about what we have always believed a deeper way of

  290. understanding and communicating those things. In culture, we see it

  291. in Christ's teachings that when Jesus taught, he used the

  292. visible things around people that he taught in parable those

  293. life application stories. And what that doesn't look like in

  294. today's society is that we just simply tell somebody they're wrong,

  295. because because the thing that has been missing, the thing

  296. that has suffered through this erosion of honor, is deep

  297. connected relationship. Because where there's honor, there's connected relationship. I

  298. love Gary Ostein because he has always honored me, and

  299. I have always honored him. My wife and I are

  300. inseparable because I honor her and she honors me. Honor

  301. brings connectivity at a level that most people never experience.

  302. Honor honor. A great house is filled with vessels of honor.

  303. Children honor your parents. Parents honor your children. Here's the thing.

  304. There's a reward for children honoring their parents, but parents,

  305. we should just know to do it. We should just

  306. know to honor our children. There's no special reward given

  307. for honor in that direction, because we've already received the

  308. honor in the other direction. Church, our lives bull down

  309. through the decisions and the connections we make in life

  310. and the honor we showed up people. In Second Timothy,

  311. chapter two, starting in verse one, it says, you, therefore,

  312. my son, relationship, connection, honor, be strong in the grace

  313. that is in Christ Jesus. And here is here is

  314. the formula for solving every problem in the world. Listen,

  315. look at me, everybody. Every problem in the world is

  316. solved in this passage of scripture, every one of them.

  317. Problem with nuclear weapons, the problem with what, hunger, what this?

  318. This is it? Remember, relationship is the basis in which

  319. he says this. He calls him son, and the things

  320. that you've heard from me among many witnesses. Commit these

  321. to faithful men who will be able to teach others.

  322. Also that those righteous threads that we see doing life

  323. together in relationship go find some other people and build

  324. relationships with them, and once they've proven honor, release them

  325. to go and do that with others. Also, until we

  326. have brought people to the table rather than shouting through

  327. a microphone from a podium. We come together around kitchen

  328. tables around the world, and we come back to the

  329. place of honoring one another in spite of our differences.

  330. Come on somebody until people see Jesus in us shining

  331. soul bright, that those righteous threads draw people through the difference.

  332. And under the blood of Jesus Church. We live in

  333. the greatest time on earth, because in order for reconciliation

  334. to happen, there has to be division, and we live

  335. in the greatest time of division ever in the history

  336. of the planet. And you have been given the ministry

  337. of reconciliation. You have the words of reconciliation. Find ways

  338. to honor people, and it will bring connection so that

  339. you can speak truth. And when you spreak truth, Jesus

  340. shows up and there's a grace collision that happens in

  341. people's lives. Everybody's stand with me. Father, I ask you

  342. to move right now in the hearts of your people. Lord,

  343. I pray that that you reveal to us places where

  344. we have it shown honor, where we've been dishonorable, and

  345. forgive us of those things. Lord, I pray that you

  346. birth in every person, the ability to discern those threads

  347. of righteousness that are woven into every single person on earth,

  348. that you allow us to see them and show honor

  349. to those things, that it would be that it would

  350. bring connection to humanity. Lord, I love you, and I

  351. thank you for everything you are in all that we

  352. can be in you. Thank you. Jesus. Listen, if you're

  353. here today and you'd say, my life is not honored

  354. the Lord, my life is not honored the Lord the

  355. way that it should. But today I want to bring

  356. my life in alignment and I want to show honor

  357. to Jesus. I've lived in rebellion and I've looked past

  358. things I know that I should have done, But today

  359. I want to. I want to line those things up

  360. and bring honor to my relationship with Jesus. Or if

  361. you're here and you say, hey, you know there are

  362. people that I haven't shown honor to, that I've been

  363. dishonorable to. Lord, I want you to help me make

  364. those things right. If either one of those things is true,

  365. I'm gonna count to three. I say, hey, I want

  366. to I want to bring my life back into honor

  367. with Jesus. I want you to help me repair the

  368. relationships I've damaged by not showing honor. I want you

  369. to step out and make you way in the front.

  370. Our prayer team is gonna come and beat you right here.

  371. H only count of three, one, two, three, Step out

  372. and come. Don't matter where you are, what you're dealing with.

  373. But you just feel like you are not showing honor

  374. to the Lord. Thank you, Jesus, Thank you, Jesus. Pastoral,

  375. lay the altars open.
