  1. You know, this is a perfect segue into, uh, into

  2. our series that we're in right now, Full House, as

  3. we talk about family and the role of family and

  4. what exactly uh that means. And I want to I

  5. want to talk to you, uh just uh, just a

  6. little bit today on what I have seen, what I've

  7. observed in the modern family, a departure of some scriptural

  8. values that that we see in the Bible, and we

  9. have uh made a vast departure from a lot of

  10. those things, uh, in the pursuit of modernity, of being modern.

  11. You know, for for ages, new generations have always thought

  12. that they were smarter, better, more savvy than the previous generation.

  13. That's just the natural way things have gone. And we

  14. often look at those old days and those old ways

  15. of doing things, and we think, oh, wow, our world

  16. is so much smarter because we have so much more technology.

  17. Our world is just so much far ahead, and we

  18. have so much more information than people used to have.

  19. And we embrace those things and we look down on

  20. the way things were because every time something changes in culture,

  21. we assume that it's right because it's new. Come on, somebody,

  22. but I want to tell you that new is not

  23. right because it's new. New is only right because it's right,

  24. and we have to go back to the very foundation

  25. of living in order to know what is right.

  26. Let's pray together.

  27. Father, I thank you for your mercy and your grace

  28. what I thank you for who you are and all

  29. that we can be in you.

  30. I'm afraid that you open.

  31. Our ears to hear, in our hearts to receive today

  32. that you would do miracles in our midst where we

  33. ask it in Jesus' name.

  34. Amen, you got a Bible.

  35. Go to Genesis chapter forty eight, Chapter forty eight, and

  36. we're going to start in verse fourteen. Genesis chapter forty eight,

  37. in verse fourteen, I want to make some clarifications here

  38. as I begin to read. When we read the word

  39. Israel here, it's not talking about the nation of Israel.

  40. It's talking about the man Israel.

  41. There was a person Israel in which the tribes came

  42. out of And you need to understand that because it

  43. gets confusing if you think I'm talking about the nation

  44. of Israel and it's personified in a single person. So

  45. we're talking about the man Israel. As we begin to

  46. read here Genesis chapter forty eight, Verse fourteen, it says,

  47. Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it

  48. on Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left

  49. hand on Manasa's head, guiding his hands knowingly from Nasa

  50. was the firstborn. And he blessed, and he blessed Joseph,

  51. and said, God before whom my father's Abraham and Isaac walked,

  52. the God who has fed me all my life long

  53. to this today, the Angel who has redeemed me from

  54. all evil, blessed the lads. Let my name be named

  55. upon them, and the name of my father's Abraham and Isaac,

  56. and let them grow into a multitude in the midst

  57. of the earth. Now, when Joseph saw that his father

  58. laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it

  59. displeased him, so he took hold of his father's hand

  60. to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manassa's head. And

  61. Joseph said to his father, not so, not so, my father,

  62. for this, for this one is the first born, put

  63. your right hand on his head. But his father refused

  64. to say, I know, my son, I know he shall

  65. become a great people. He also shall be great. But

  66. truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and

  67. his descendants shall become a multitude of nations. So we

  68. bless them that day, saying by you, Israel, I will bless, saying,

  69. may God make you am and Manassa. And thus he

  70. set Efrim before Manassa. Then Israel said to Joseph, behold,

  71. I am dying, but God will be with you and

  72. bring you back to the land of your fathers. Now

  73. it's easy to not completely understand what's happening here, And

  74. when I first read this passage of scripture, I found

  75. it a little perplexing. And what's happened here is they

  76. have brought the grandchildren into to the grandfather to have

  77. the generational blessing bestowed upon them. And in that day,

  78. the customary thing was for the oldest to get a

  79. larger portion.

  80. Of the birthright.

  81. So when the birthright was if there were two children,

  82. when the birthright was divided, the older child would get

  83. two thirds, the younger child would get one third.

  84. It was just that eldership.

  85. Birthright, and that's the way that things had always been,

  86. and it hadn't been questioned. Now he brings his children

  87. in to his father, and his father does something that

  88. is completely out of the norm. He takes his right hand,

  89. which it's called the right hand of blessing. The generational

  90. blessing was bestowed with the right hand, and he took

  91. his right hand and he put it on the younger,

  92. and he took his left hand and he put it

  93. on the older, and he performed a cross blessing, a

  94. blessing that that crossed all heritage, all all tradition, everything,

  95. And this upset Joseph. It upset him because he didn't

  96. understand that God was trying to do a new thing.

  97. When we look at this passage of scripture, God is

  98. speaking to us and he's saying that there have some

  99. thing there have there have It's that Alaska coming out.

  100. Amen. There are some things that have happened.

  101. That have slowly integrated into our culture of family, into

  102. society that we have just accepted is right because they're

  103. the new things, and they're the way things have been done.

  104. For a long time now.

  105. These things have been done this way pretty much since

  106. most of us have been alive, and we just go

  107. along with it because it seems to be the natural

  108. cultural trend of the way families work. But it's opposite

  109. of the way scripture has taught us. When we look

  110. at at the course of family, the course of the

  111. family unit, we see some alarming things happening beyond just

  112. the absence of parenting. I want you to hear this

  113. from me right now, when everybody look at me right now.

  114. Kids are not worse.

  115. Now than they used to be. Not many amens there.

  116. Kids are not worse than they used to be.

  117. Kids are still the same as they that Already people's

  118. faces are already getting read.

  119. It's okay.

  120. Knew that I knew this was what I was coming

  121. back to. Amen, I knew this was that message that

  122. I was preaching when I came back. So it's why

  123. I almost extended my trip for a week so Clay

  124. could preach it. But we have relegated parenting to many

  125. different organizations. We have relegated education to the school system.

  126. We've relegated spiritual development to the church. We've relegated sexuality

  127. to their friends and their teachers.

  128. Who don't have the same values as we have.

  129. And when we look at the trends, and we look

  130. at the things that are happening in America, especially in America,

  131. but these things are also global to some extent too.

  132. We see some troubling things.

  133. Do you realize that right now the birth rate is

  134. below replacement rate. In other words, people are dying every

  135. year faster than people are being born.

  136. That's alarming. We also see.

  137. A trend where people are getting married later and later

  138. and later in age, and many people are choosing to

  139. never be married and go through life in a single capacity. Now,

  140. I will say that the Apostle Paul did speak about this,

  141. and he said that that is the better way to

  142. do it. But I want you to understand that it's

  143. not a spiritual reason why people are doing it, Amen,

  144. It's because we've been captivated and captured by other things,

  145. the pursuit of money, the pursuit of wealth, the pursuit

  146. of independence, the pursuit of those things. A pushing back

  147. of what the world is called the patriarchy of a

  148. society where a loving man who loves his wife leads

  149. the family and they complete one another by being in

  150. partnership together, not a domineering, abusive relationship that's wrong even

  151. by Bible standards, but in a true partnership where the

  152. man becomes the spiritual lead and the spiritual head of

  153. his home, and.

  154. He sets that foundation, and he sees a vision for

  155. where his family wants to go.

  156. That is the scriptural way of things, and it's not

  157. it's not misogynistic in any way.

  158. It's the divine creation.

  159. And listen, I want you to understand that even if

  160. I was a woman, I would want to be led

  161. by someone who knew where they were going and that

  162. I could come alongside and complete that destiny and that

  163. purpose and we could do something together.

  164. But we have come so far from.

  165. That, and we've pushed back on those traditional values because

  166. the enemy has developed this new way of thought that's

  167. supposed to be better. Because it's new, it has to

  168. be better. But it's time for us not to just

  169. take things as they are and the way society teaches

  170. things the way they should be. But we go back

  171. to scripture and we begin to build our families and

  172. form our families based on scriptural foundation, not on just

  173. the process and the way that we think should be.

  174. Because somebody wrote a book about it, I want to

  175. tell you something.

  176. The person that wrote those books, never mind, I'm not

  177. even going to go there. They wrote now, listen, they

  178. wrote those books to get your money.

  179. They didn't write those books to help you if they

  180. wrote that book to help you, they'd probably give it away.

  181. Amen that they'd probably give it to you rather than

  182. selling it to you for four.

  183. I went to the bookstore the other day and a

  184. book with.

  185. Forty nine ninety nine fifty dollars for a book, and

  186. I read the back of it. This the kind of

  187. the you know, the summary and about the author, and

  188. I thought, oh, my gosh, I already know more than that.

  189. Maybe I should write one for sixty dollars.

  190. When we look at at those birth rates, there's something

  191. else that's very alarming. Did you realize that that the

  192. birth rate among the Muslim community is two point nine

  193. children for family the birthrate among Christian families is two

  194. point six And you're like, oh, that's does that's half

  195. a kid, pastor that's not a big deal. But youreize

  196. if you take ten women, that's an additional three children

  197. being born to Muslim families than Christian families. That the

  198. Muslim birth rate indicates that within twenty years they will

  199. be the largest faith group on the face.

  200. Of the planet.

  201. It is a slow, steady decline and erosion of the

  202. principles of God and the family. Now I know you're

  203. sitting there thinking, oh no, I'm counting my kids and

  204. I didn't have enough, and now I'm old and I

  205. can't go back. Sometimes we just miss it, amen, I

  206. mean you know, and sometimes y'all just the first one

  207. was so bad you didn't want to have another one, Ashley.

  208. My wife's an only child too, so she must have

  209. been a handful of Amen. I got a sister who

  210. came along sixteen years later, So I guess I got

  211. worse the older I got.

  212. I don't know. But when we begin to look at

  213. the shaping.

  214. And molding of the family unit, another alarming statistic is

  215. the devolving and the absence of family owned businesses, And

  216. you're like, oh no, what is.

  217. See.

  218. It used to be that families built lineage and heritage,

  219. that people would would create something that their children would

  220. grow it would grow into and continue to move into

  221. and continue to work towards and do those things. But

  222. now we have this new mentality where we carve out

  223. a living and then we look at our children and

  224. we say, okay, listen, you go do whatever you want

  225. to do.

  226. You go be whoever you want to be. You just

  227. go explore the world.

  228. And find the thing that you want to do and

  229. have your freedom and you're your own person and listen,

  230. there is some truth to that, but at the same time,

  231. there's a very destructive process in that, because as parents,

  232. we should be creating an effort as a family unit

  233. that moves us towards a goal. We should be creating

  234. something that's so synergistic in our families that we're moving

  235. in the same direction, and our children want to be

  236. part of that because they have been I'm going to

  237. use the word indoctrinated in those things that we're doing,

  238. and that they're so hungry and so passionate about that

  239. vision that has been created for our families that they

  240. are quite hot passionate about completing.

  241. The things that we start. And when we.

  242. Look at the devolving of that particular thing, it means

  243. that probably men are not leading the way they should.

  244. It means that that we have become so preoccupied with just.

  245. Simply making ends meet that we have forgotten to build.

  246. Something that our families can all work together for and

  247. work towards and be passionate about and shape culture rather

  248. than being shaped by culture.

  249. In Romans chapter two, verse twelve.

  250. Romans Chapter twelve, verse two, it says, and do not

  251. be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the

  252. renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is

  253. that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. That

  254. we shouldn't just take society's norms and cave into society's norms,

  255. but we should change those norms based on the scriptural

  256. principles and the spirit of God that lives on the

  257. inside of us.

  258. It's time that we.

  259. Push against these things that look normal. As a matter

  260. of fact, the Bible says, we shouldn't look normal, that

  261. we should look a little peculiar, that we should stand out,

  262. That we should begin to carve out those things that

  263. we should begin to carve our place in society, and

  264. our families should begin to work together, moving together as a.

  265. Unit to affect change in the world.

  266. Did you know that the majority, the majority of last names.

  267. You know, back when there wasn't a very high population,

  268. people didn't need last names. There's probably only one Jeremy

  269. in his town. But now we need last names. Do

  270. you realize that most of your last names came from

  271. one of two places, either your occupation or a family trait.

  272. In other words, you know, maybe the Browns were called

  273. the browns because of dark complexion, or the whites were

  274. called whites because they had beautiful white hair, or the

  275. stewards were called the stewarts were called the stewarts because

  276. we worked in a service capacity, serving other people. Those

  277. traits were transferred down because it was the expectation that

  278. we would continue to pioneer and work and move in

  279. those areas. And now we're scattered. My daughter lives in California.

  280. I have another daughter that chose to live at home.

  281. Not being critical of either of those things, but that's

  282. something that just twenty thirty years ago you saw very rarely.

  283. But it is the new culture that has created that

  284. spreading of families, and we've stopped working together, moving as

  285. a as a singular family unit, to do something fantastic,

  286. to do something great, to do something.

  287. Powerful for God.

  288. In Joshua, chapter twenty four, verse fourteen, it says, now therefore,

  289. fear the Lord, serve him in sincerity and in truth,

  290. and put away the gods which your father served on

  291. the other side of the river and in Egypt.

  292. Serve the Lord.

  293. And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord,

  294. choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve. I'm

  295. getting to that famous part of the scripture. I'm getting

  296. to the one that we like to quote in church.

  297. But listen to what he's saying. He says, Listen, there

  298. are some things that have devolved around us. There are

  299. some things that are going crazy around us.

  300. And you have to choose.

  301. You have to choose the Lord, or you have to

  302. choose just the status quo and the way things are going.

  303. The status quo will keep you right where you are.

  304. The status quo will keep you broke, busted and disgusted.

  305. The status quo will be a prison. And you won't

  306. realize you're in a prison until you've died and gotten

  307. to heaven and you look back and you realize the

  308. destiny that God has for your life and for your

  309. children and for their lineage. And then you will wake

  310. and you say, oh my goodness, I missed the boat.

  311. He say, Listen, there is a scriptural way. There is

  312. a way the Lord does things, and the way the

  313. Lord has always moved when we look.

  314. At scripture is through the family unit.

  315. That is God's design is to work through the family unit,

  316. and then through.

  317. The local church.

  318. It's the family unit and then the local church the

  319. family unit, and then the local church the family unit,

  320. and then the local church.

  321. That's God's plan for the earth.

  322. You guys should be feeding the hungry as a family unit.

  323. Come on, somebody. You guys should be evangelizing. You guys

  324. should be doing small groups. That has nothing to do

  325. with the church. We're just here as an aid. We're

  326. just here's a supplement to try to help you be

  327. everything that you are.

  328. That's our job. But your family needs to be the sinner.

  329. It needs to be the focal point of spirituality in

  330. your life. Needs to be your family and your children

  331. should get spiritual development, spiritual insight, and they should see

  332. the vision and feel the vision that's flowing through your

  333. family for your life and their lives. It's an empowering

  334. thing that families in America have lost because we have

  335. been relegated to just simply keeping our children alive until

  336. they're eighteen and can go discover who they're supposed to be.

  337. And I want you to know God has so much

  338. more for you as a parent. God has so much

  339. more for you as a.

  340. Son or a daughter.

  341. He has a mandate on your life to come together

  342. as a unit and change the world around you. Parents,

  343. Stand up and begin to parent again.

  344. Stand up and take back control of your children's education.

  345. Listen, I know the school sends you four hundred emails

  346. a week.

  347. Read them all and know what's going on in your

  348. child's school. Know who your children's friends are. Know what

  349. they're watching on social media, Know what they're doing on

  350. their computer, Know who they're texting and what they're texting.

  351. Know those things. It is not an invasion of privacy.

  352. Now your kid's going to say it is. But their kids.

  353. Know those things.

  354. Because it's your job to guide them, to shape them,

  355. to protect them, to develop them, to show them the way,

  356. to point the way towards destiny, because you see their

  357. gifts and their passions, You see those skills that they have.

  358. You know those things because you're with them every day.

  359. And reassert yourself into their lives and begin to scope

  360. and to begin to plan a destiny so powerful with

  361. your family that it shakes the kingdom of darkness.

  362. Now, therefore, fear of the Lord, serve him in sincerity and.

  363. In truth, and put away the gods which your father

  364. served on the other side of the river and in Egypt.

  365. Serve the Lord and if it seems evil to you

  366. to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom

  367. you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served

  368. that were on the other side of the river, or

  369. the gods of the Amorites and whose lands you dwell.

  370. But ask for me and my house pastor glad you

  371. guys can come and get ready, then, he says, But

  372. as for me and my house, As for me and

  373. my house, not not your neighbor's house. Not your neighbor's house,

  374. Not those people down the street that get people in

  375. and out of their driveway all hours of the night.

  376. Not them, not your co worker's house. That's not your responsibility.

  377. It's your responsibility to tell your story and answer the

  378. questions when they ask questions, and lead them to Jesus.

  379. That's he says.

  380. As for me in my house, he says, I can't

  381. shape who everybody else is going to serve. I can't

  382. shape who everybody else, what they're going to do, and

  383. what they're going to choose. I can't do those things,

  384. he says. But as for me and my house, we will.

  385. Serve the Lord. He says.

  386. All these other things, all these other things that are

  387. departures from faith, all these other things that society has

  388. told us that matter, all of these things that society

  389. has convinced us that if we do those things, that

  390. we're somehow being bad parents. I'm not going to get

  391. into discipline. I'm not going to get into all those things.

  392. But they're a scripture about discipline. There's scripture about all

  393. those things about how to how to lead your children

  394. there there. You need to you need to get into that,

  395. and you need to read those things, and you need

  396. to know those things.

  397. Amen. I'm not gonna have whooping classes.

  398. I mean, I'm not gonna show you how to whoop

  399. your kids or nothing like that. But you need to

  400. know what the Bible says about discipline. You need to

  401. know what it says about the proper relationship between husband

  402. and wife and children.

  403. You listen.

  404. You should never you should never choose your children over

  405. your spouse. The marriage relationship comes first. It's first, it's

  406. the most important. Then your children. Our society is sick

  407. with children worship. And I'm not preaching that next week,

  408. so y'all can come back. It's okay, not going there

  409. next week, so it's safe.

  410. I'm not going to.

  411. Preach about the sinister under belly of travel ball.

  412. I'm not gonna do any of that. But what you

  413. do have to do today is you have to decide.

  414. Do you have to You have to decide if you're

  415. just gonna simply go along.

  416. And lay your right hand on the older because it's.

  417. The way things have always been done in your left

  418. hand on the younger, or if you're gonna stand up.

  419. In the defensive posture.

  420. And begin to fight for your family, begin to fight

  421. for their destiny, begin to fight and carve out away

  422. where your family is changing the culture around it, where

  423. you don't just take the status quo as the truth,

  424. but you stand up and say for for for me

  425. and my house, we're gonna serve the Lord. We're gonna

  426. do what God has called us to do. And it

  427. may not look conventional, it may not look like everybody else.

  428. God may not be calling you to have the biggest

  429. house on the block, Come on, somebody. He may not

  430. be calling you to drive the nicest cars because he's

  431. calling you to fund missionaries all over the world.

  432. Or he's calling you to the mission field and he's.

  433. Given you a ten year window to get ready, and

  434. you need to save, and you need to be disciplined

  435. so that you can go and do those things that

  436. God's calling.

  437. You to do.

  438. You need to get alone with God fathers, not godfathers.

  439. You need to get.

  440. Along with God.

  441. Come a father, and you need to pray. And when

  442. God speaks something to your heart, you get your wife

  443. and you go in the prayer closet together and you

  444. pray and say, is this what God wants for our family?

  445. Is this what God is telling us, what God is asking,

  446. what God is requiring of us? And you come together

  447. and you say, yes, this is what God's saying. And

  448. then you on board your children and say it doesn't

  449. matter what you want, this is what God is calling

  450. our family to do. And when you're doing what God

  451. wants you to do, he'll take his des He'll put

  452. them in your hearts. He'll put them in your children's hearts,

  453. and he'll make his desires their desires, and they will

  454. love what God is calling your.

  455. Family to do and to be.

  456. But if we keep going the way we're going, we're

  457. going to lose the battle simply because other religions are

  458. having more children than we're having, and because we're not

  459. passionate We're fighting an adversary this mean and despicable. We're

  460. fighting an adversary who pulls no punches. We're fighting an

  461. adversary who uses good people to do bad things. We're

  462. using an adversary who is lulling the church to sleep.

  463. And today he's ringing the bell and he's saying the

  464. status this quote is not good enough. We've got to

  465. look different. We gotta be different, we gotta do different.

  466. And that rests on your shoulders, Mom and Dad, rest

  467. on your shoulders to decide what that is for your family,

  468. to not just keep going, but to see who God

  469. is and completely convey that to every generation of lineage

  470. that you have. This is a clarion call. This is

  471. that pivotal moment in your family right here this morning,

  472. through this message, choose who you will serve. You can

  473. continue to serve a picture of a modern family that

  474. devolves into lifelessness and powerless existence. Or will you lead

  475. a family that champions the calls of Christ where He

  476. sets you with your family as a city on a hill,

  477. so that other families navigate their life by what.

  478. They see in you.

  479. Choices yours, everybody staying with me all over the building.

  480. You know, I believe there's some I believe there's some

  481. parents here this morning. I believe there's some some parents

  482. here this morning that that need to come to Christ.

  483. But maybe.

  484. Maybe you're saved, but your faith doesn't lead the way.

  485. Maybe you're saved, but you've allowed addiction. You've allowed sin

  486. to come into your life and bring a separation between

  487. you and the Lord. And you're having a hard time

  488. hearing from him to even know how to lead your family.

  489. You're consumed with worry and guilt and all of those things.

  490. And today the Lord.

  491. Wants you to come back to him, to recommit your

  492. life to him this morning, because the mandate on.

  493. Your life is too important to just continue to go

  494. through the motions. Or maybe there's some parents or children

  495. here that you've never given your life to Jesus. You

  496. never ask him to forgive you of your sin to

  497. be the Lord of your life.

  498. The greatest thing you can do for the legacy of

  499. your family just to turn your heart over to the Lord.

  500. Listen, young people, you already need to start thinking about

  501. that next generation that'll come from you. Begin to live

  502. your life for Christ right now so that you're not

  503. trying to catch up to your children one day. But

  504. if you're here and you want to come back to Jesus,

  505. or you want to trust Jesus for the very first time,

  506. you're going to count to three with every eye open,

  507. every head looking around. I believe a revolution is coming

  508. to the American family. I believe that that God is

  509. speaking to husbands and fathers all over, especially this country,

  510. about their families. God's speaking to mothers about their children parenting.

  511. If that's you on the count of three, I want

  512. you to step out and move. When I hit three,

  513. you guys just start playing. We're gonna worship, then we're

  514. gonna baptize. On the count of three. If that's you,

  515. I want you to step out and come. Don't wait

  516. and look around, you just come. I want to have

  517. I want things right between me and the Lord so

  518. that I could leave my family. On the count of three, one, two, three,

  519. step out and come right
