Jesus' name.
-
Amen, Amen, and amen, give the Lord a hand clout
-
one more time.
-
Thank you Lord.
-
H We're starting a brand new series today called Haunted House.
-
Now listen, don't freak out with a name, don't don't listen,
-
don't freak out.
-
Uh.
-
Basically everything this year has been that house theme, and
-
we're talking about the supernatural this month. Uh, So it
-
just seemed fitting that we just kind of threw in
-
that reference because that's all about I promise, I'm not
-
gonna be preaching about ghosts and we're not gonna scare
-
you when you go into the nobody's gonna jump out
-
when you go to the bathroom. That's not what this
-
is about. But we're going to focus on the invisible
-
part of.
-
The Kingdom of God. Amen.
-
We're gonna talk about the supernatural. Uh, we're gonna talk
-
about the Holy Ghost today. Come on somebody. Uh then Uh,
-
then U Pastor Clay's gonna preach a message to you
-
about heaven and Hell. Then we're gonna talk about angels
-
and demons, and then we're gonna talk about spiritual warfare
-
through this month. So this is that this this says
-
that time, these are the things that the people you
-
know want to hear about.
-
Amen, that supernatural aspect.
-
So now is a great time for you to invite
-
somebody to come to.
-
Church with you or to send them a link to
-
the online.
-
Worship experience, because we want people to understand that we
-
serve a supernatural God. We serve a supernatural God because
-
most people walk through their lives and they look around
-
and they don't think there's any natural way for them
-
to have a change in their situation and their circumstance.
-
And the reality is, most of the time there is
-
no natural way. But we don't serve a natural God.
-
We serve a supernatural God who doesn't have to play
-
by the same rules, who's not bound by those same principles.
-
He has his own set and he can do whatever
-
he wants whenever he wants, and he can bring you
-
through something just like that. He can position you for blessing,
-
he can heal your body, he can put a relation
-
ship back together.
-
He can do all those things in a moment.
-
If we just lean into the supernatural part of who
-
he is and stop thinking that we have to help him. Listen,
-
I'm gonna preach better than y'all are y'all are not
-
warmed up. Y'all'm gonna preach better than what y'all are
-
letting on right now. I just wanted you to know
-
that's where we're going today. If you've got a Bible,
-
John chapter sixteen, John chapter sixteen.
-
I think that the.
-
Primary purpose of the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit
-
and the presence of the Holy Spirit the.
-
Number one objective.
-
His number one priority is to glorify Jesus. The Spirit's
-
number one priority is to glorify Jesus. And I want you,
-
I want to go ahead and clarify something here. Holy
-
Spirit is not God's power on earth, as if you know,
-
God is sitting up there and he's going and whatever
-
out of the end of his fingers is Holy Spirit.
-
And the movie Holy Spirit is a third part and
-
equal part of the Triune godhead of the Trinity. Three
-
and one. I've already had some conversation without this morning. Listen,
-
I do not have I'm not smart enough. Steve knows me.
-
He's laughing.
-
I'm not smart enough to give you an in depth
-
explanation because my mind is finite and I cannot understand
-
three but one that's just not something that we do,
-
because there's no natural explanation to that.
-
You have to take that by faith. It just lives
-
out there somewhere.
-
And I just trust that God is who he says
-
he is and he does the things he says he
-
can do, because he's never ever let me down and
-
he's proven himself time and time again. So my faith
-
is just engaged on everything he says. And Holy Spirit
-
is a is a person, a part of the try,
-
so it's not just He's not just power. He is
-
a person, just like the Father, just like the son,
-
and his primary purpose is to glorify Jesus.
-
John chapter sixteen, Starting in verse twelve, it.
-
Says, I still have many things to say to you,
-
but you cannot bear them now.
-
I wish I was.
-
Preaching that this morning. Do you know that the Lord
-
has so many things for you? He has so much
-
there's so much purpose and so much destiny ahead of you,
-
But he has to withhold it because you can't bear
-
it right now. If he told you the totality, the
-
immensity of what he wanted for your life, or your
-
children's lives, or your grandchildren's lives, you wouldn't be able
-
to bear it right now. So he just says, hey,
-
be patient, walk with me, and I'm going to give
-
it to you, little by little by little.
-
Amen.
-
He says, listen, I want to tell you, but you
-
can't bear it right now.
-
However, when he.
-
The spirit of truth has come, he will guide you
-
into all truth. For he will not speak on his
-
own authority, but whatever he hears, he will speak, and
-
he will tell you things to come. He will glorify me.
-
He will take of what is mine and declare it
-
to you. All things that the Father has are mine.
-
Therefore I said, he will take of mine and declare
-
it to you. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for
-
your word. It's the only change agent on the face
-
of the planet. And I pray that today you change us,
-
that you mold us and shape us. Lord, that when
-
we leave today we're we're a little more like you
-
and a little less like us.
-
Father, that we hear.
-
Receieve your impartation of truth, or we give you glory
-
and honor and praise in Jesus' name.
-
Amen, Amen, and amen.
-
So his his primary purpose is to glorify Jesus, you know,
-
and that would be uh, that seems like a pretty
-
easy thing for God to do. After all, he's God.
-
He could just come and make force everybody to bow
-
their knee. He could he could just if that's the
-
path he chose to take, he could just force everybody
-
down on their knees, head up towards heaven, and he
-
could just say, here's Jesus, give him glory. But he
-
has a different path because in order to worship God,
-
which is why he created us. He created us to
-
worship him. He created us to uh to exalt him.
-
He created us for his pleasure. I listen, a lot
-
of we we we have problems sometimes when we say
-
things like that, but we were created for God's pleasure.
-
A lot of times we think that God is there
-
for our pleasure. But God created us for his pleasure.
-
He's the creator and as a result, he desired. His
-
desire is for us to willingly come to him, And
-
anything forrest is not true worship. If I hold a
-
gun to Calvin's head and say Calvin, tell me you
-
love me, and he says I love you, Pastor, that's
-
not that, that's not really a true expression of how
-
he feels about me. Amen, that's self preservation. But you
-
know how I know Calvin loves me. It's because he
-
comes up every day and he says, hey, you dropped
-
your ear, and he tries to make me look at
-
the ground because that's our thing, right, That's that's the relationship.
-
We We just joke with each other all the time.
-
We're poking fun with each other all the time.
-
And and that's how I know.
-
It's because there is a true, unslilicited expression of how
-
he feels towards me.
-
It's the same with my wife. She doesn't screams say
-
tell me you lie me. I just say baby, I
-
love you, Baby, I love you all the time, Baby,
-
I love you. I love you. Sometimes you just say
-
I know.
-
That's a five hundredth time you said it today.
-
But I want you to forget I love you.
-
I love you. Can I go get you a chocolate bar?
-
At eight thirty at night? Can I go get you?
-
Can I go get Because I want to give amen?
-
Because it's an expression of love. That's what I want
-
to do, and that's what the Lord wants of us.
-
So in order for the Holy Spirit to glorify Christ,
-
he chooses to do it by working in our lives
-
to position us to be able to love Jesus better.
-
In John chapter fourteen, verse twenty five, he gives us
-
two expressions of how he does that.
-
It says, these.
-
Things, I've spoken to you while being present with you.
-
But the Helper, the helper holy Spirit. He's defined as
-
helper and comforter. He's the one who comes alongside the paraclet.
-
He comes alongside and he helps us, and he brings
-
us comfort in times of trouble. So he is our helper,
-
he's our comforter. He says, these things, I've spoken to
-
you while being present with you. But the Helper, the
-
Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
-
he will teach you all things and bring to your
-
remembrance all that I said to you, he says.
-
So I'm gonna help you, I'm gonna.
-
Comfort you, and he's also going to teach you all things.
-
Everybody look at me for a second. You cannot use.
-
I don't know. I can't figure it out.
-
I don't understand as an excuse not to grow closer
-
to Jesus, because the very God who created you is
-
also teaching you the principles he wants you to learn.
-
Now, you may be.
-
Hard headed, and as far as I know hard headedness
-
is the only learning disability that keeps you from maturity
-
in the body of Christ. Because the Holy Spirit teaches
-
you all things. He will teach you things through the
-
situations and circumstances in life. He will teach you things
-
when you go to bed at night and you have
-
those spiritual dreams. He will teach you things through his word.
-
He will teach you things through preaching. He will teach
-
you things through encounters with other people.
-
He's always teaching, and he's always.
-
Calling you up towards more and empowering you to be
-
more than you ever thought you could be. Because he
-
is our comforter and he is our teacher, and it's
-
all pointing us back to glorify Jesus. He's never going
-
to teach you something that will diminish Christ. Now watch
-
hold on for all of you, for all of you
-
YouTube Christians. I mean, you know you're just you spend
-
eight hours a day on the social media's and you're
-
just trying to find that.
-
Glory to God.
-
I'm just trying to find revelation. My pastor, he's just
-
so shadow Listen, I know I'm shallow. I know my
-
teaching is shallow. It's okay, and it's on purpose. It's
-
it's on purpose because here's the thing. I just want
-
you to leave every week with one thing. I want
-
you to leave every week with one thing that you
-
can put into practice this afternoon at lunch.
-
Just one thing.
-
And if you can get one thing and you show
-
up every week, you're gonna have fifty two godly principles
-
that you are able to put into work over the
-
course of the year.
-
Amen.
-
So yeah, I'm not gonna stand up here and give
-
you a theological dissertation followed by emailing you this essay.
-
That supports all of the evidence.
-
I'm not gonna do that because I want you to
-
go do something, because I believe the number one principle
-
of discipleship is doing, not learning. Now, you got to
-
learn before you can do. But you also can't keep
-
learning without doing. So listen, He's always going to point
-
towards Christ.
-
He's always going to lift up Christ.
-
When you're out there and you're scouring the internet and
-
you're looking for revelation, you're looking for that next thing,
-
and people start teaching things that does not elevate Jesus
-
but brings him down.
-
That's not godly.
-
So if they're teaching you something and they're like, oh, well,
-
maybe Jesus wasn't born of a virgin, or maybe Jesus
-
didn't do or maybe Jesus was married, maybe Jesus pushed
-
a baby off house and died and called him back.
-
That's not godly teaching because it brings Christ down. And
-
everything the Holy Spirit does, who is the teacher of
-
all things, he only lifts him up and glorifies him.
-
So in your pursuit of the next great revelation, make
-
sure that it lifts Jesus up, that.
-
It talks about how great he is and doesn't bring
-
him more to a human level.
-
Because although he was, he came in flesh, he was
-
fully God and fully man, and he was elevated and
-
he always will be. He always has been above us
-
because he is our King of kings.
-
And our Lord of lords.
-
He is not a crucified king, though he is our
-
resurrected savior.
-
Who I'm sweating. The way he does that most often
-
is that Holy Spirit.
-
It's purpose in glorifying Christ is to empower believers, to
-
empower us to live above because if people look at
-
your life and they see you're not like everybody else.
-
They start looking for the reason why if you handle
-
stress different than everybody else. People want to know why,
-
if you're able to manage money better than they're able
-
to manage money.
-
People want to know why if you know what's.
-
Coming before it gets their people want.
-
To know why. And God empowers us to.
-
Live differently, to set us as a city on a hill,
-
not on Hell.
-
That was just hold on, we're gonna cut that out
-
of the tape. Oh we're live already said it.
-
He sets us as a city on a hill for
-
the purpose of being a navigate gational beacon. That Jesus
-
in us helping other people navigate their lives, not to
-
Hell to heaven. Pastor Clay is going to clarify those
-
things next week. In Acts, chapter one, verse eight, Jesus
-
speaks of the coming promise. He says, but you shall
-
receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
-
And here's the purpose of the power. Now, look, I
-
want to be I want to be straight up. The
-
purpose of the power is not so you can get
-
your own preaching show on TBN. It's not so we
-
can have some tricks in the altar. It's not so
-
we can all come together say, oh, we had a
-
good service. Forty two people spoke in tongues that thirteen
-
people fell down.
-
We don't know why. One on we couldn't get up.
-
We just had to care home and dropped them in
-
the yard. Didn't got him in the house.
-
And you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost has
-
come upon you, so that you can be my witnesses,
-
to be witnesses of me in Jerusalem and in all
-
Judaea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
-
So that you can be witnesses to me in your
-
direct sphere of influence, So that you can be witnesses
-
to Me and the places that you regularly go, so
-
that you can be witnesses to Me, to the people
-
that live around you. But they don't look like you,
-
they don't talk like you, they don't smell like you,
-
they're nothing like you. But you can still be witnesses,
-
and that you can go anywhere in the world and
-
still have your light shining. He says, that's the purpose
-
of the empowerment that's coming. The reason for the baptism
-
in the Holy Spirit is so that we can be
-
a better witness and we can live and glorify Christ
-
in a better way. Not in the altar, but in
-
the world.
-
You know, I have.
-
Somebody asked me one time. They said, Apprecier, you talked
-
about it. You prave about the baptism, the Holy Spirit.
-
You think you can go to heaven without the Holy Ghost.
-
I said, yeah, I think you can go to heaven
-
without the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
-
I said, but I.
-
Don't even want to go to the grocery store without
-
the baptism with the Holy Spirit. I don't know why
-
you want to go to heaven right, Because it's.
-
That in dwelling power.
-
It's that empowerment for the life of the believer that
-
my witness stands out and stands above that I don't
-
have to listen when I go to the grocery store.
-
If I see somebody, I don't have to pray if
-
God wants me to talk to them or not. I
-
don't stop get on my knees and say, Lord, give
-
me revelation. Should I witness or not. No, He's just
-
in me and he comes out of me. Somebody says,
-
old Pastor, I got this is going on. That's going on.
-
You know, we're standing at to Gas pump pumping gas.
-
I don't stop saying, should I pray for him right now?
-
While I'm pumping gas, I lay hands on people pray
-
for him right there, because it's an empowerment of the witness,
-
and I treasure that experience. The baptism in the Holy Spirit. Now,
-
let me talk about that for just a moment. When
-
you get saved, the moment you get saved, holy Ghost
-
is present in your life. The moment you're saved, holy
-
Ghost is there. It's not like he saves you and
-
then you're empty and you're an orphan. Holy Ghost is
-
in you. And listen, he's all the way up to here.
-
He's all the way up to the top. He doesn't
-
give you just a little bit of a taste. He's
-
not a drug dealer trying to get you to get more.
-
That's not what it's about. He gives it to you
-
right here.
-
And the baptism of the Holy Spirit is when we
-
have an experience where God continues to poor Holy Ghost
-
until what was in me I'm now flooded by So
-
it's out of my belly. That river of living water
-
flows and it fills up the environment and the atmosphere
-
around me. So I'm now enveloped in just what once
-
was on the inside of me, and now I'm empowered.
-
And when the spirit comes, or when the enemy comes,
-
the Spirit stands up, lifts up a standard against him,
-
and I'm able to persevere, stands shoulder to shoulder, toe
-
to toe, knows to those with the enemy, understanding that
-
there is an empowerment.
-
In my life.
-
And He's given me a set of tools to handle
-
any situation, in any circumstance, and those tools. First Corinthians,
-
chapter twelve, Go there, first Corinthians, chapter twelve. We're gonna
-
start in verse seven. Everybody when we say yeah, by
-
going too fast. Verse Corinthians, chapter twelve, Verse seven, it says,
-
but the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each
-
one for the profit of all. That word all does
-
not mean everybody that goes to a Pentecostal church. It
-
means everybody lost saved somewhere straddling the fence in between.
-
Everybody is for the profit of every body. All. But
-
the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one
-
for the prophet of all. For to one is given
-
the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the
-
word of knowledge through the same spirit to another. Faith
-
by the same spirit to another, gifts of healings by
-
the same spirit to another, the word of miracles to another,
-
prophecy to another, discerning of spirits to another, different kinds
-
of tongues to another, the interpretation of tongues.
-
But one in the same.
-
Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually
-
as he wills. He says, there's a set of tools
-
that comes with this indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
-
These nine tools are there to equip you to go
-
and glorify Jesus in the world and lift him up,
-
drawing people to him. They're not things to be hidden.
-
For a long time, the modern Church has said, if
-
we want to have a crowd, if we want to
-
get people to come, if we want to get people
-
to give, if we want to get people to serve, oh,
-
you can't do those weird things.
-
You can't you can't do them, weird things.
-
You can't listen. And this is how we get around it.
-
Oh no, no, no, no, won't do those things in corporate worship.
-
Those are intimate expreier, that's an intimate expression. Those things
-
happen in small groups. They happen everywhere I go, small group,
-
big group, no group. My favorite place to exercise the gifts.
-
Of tongues is in my automobile.
-
I know people drive up next to me and my
-
mouth is going so fast that they think I'm like
-
trying to launch a rap album or something a man,
-
because I'm just praying in.
-
A holy goo. It's just me and him, and I'm
-
just enjoying it.
-
And the Bible says that when I'm praying in the spirit,
-
I'm releasing the hidden wisdom of God that was laid
-
up for me from the for the ages, for my glory.
-
That when I'm speaking in my prayer language, when I'm
-
praying my prayer language, that I'm releasing destiny and purpose
-
over my life. The things that I don't know, the
-
things that I may not even understand are coming yet,
-
but I'm releasing them, and it's changing the atmosphere and
-
setting the condition of destiny around me. We're talking about
-
the supernatural where God dwells, and here's here's here's.
-
These nine things. I want to break them down to
-
you in a list of three. These Uh.
-
The first three gifts that I want to talk about
-
are the proclamation gifts, the proclamation gifts are those things
-
that that happen with our mouth. That's prophecy. And the
-
word prophecy is different than the office of profit. I'm
-
gonna go quick. It's different than the office of prophecy.
-
This prophecy is not actually the foretelling of the future.
-
That's the office of prophets what he does. But but
-
this prophecy is an encouraging and uplifting word that points
-
people in the direction of Jesus. Somebody comes in, you
-
look at them and you think, wow, you know, I
-
just I'm my gift to work. Fave of your hair
-
looks nice today. Prophesying, baby prophesy. Somebody's going through a
-
terribly hard time and they.
-
Just feel unloved.
-
And I look at them and I say, I want
-
you to know that Jesus will never leave you, and
-
he will never forsake you.
-
I'm prophesy.
-
That encouraging, strong, edifying word that breaks the bondage of the.
-
Enemy out of people's life. Prophecy. The second proclamation gift
-
is tongues.
-
It's that one that you know, It's probably the one
-
that people are the most squeamish about because it does
-
sound I'm just transparency. Right, that's gonna teach through core
-
values in November. Transparency. It sounds and feels as supposed
-
to look like everybody else.
-
And there are three.
-
Different types of gifts of tongues talked about in the
-
New Testament. The first, it's what happens right there in
-
Acts chapter two, where they spoke and people understood it
-
in their language.
-
It's the ability to speak a language you don't know.
-
The second is your prayer language. It's when you pray,
-
and it's those groanings and utterings that happened from within you.
-
You don't know what to pray, you don't know how
-
to pray, and you just allow the Holy Ghost to
-
move in you, and that gift of tongues comes out
-
in your prayer language. And that's the one that Paul
-
treasured the most. He said, listen in church, y'all all crazy,
-
everybody speaking in tongues, and it's chaos, man, nothing is happening.
-
Two or three at the most. And then he looks
-
at him and says, but I thank God, I pray.
-
I speak in tongues more than all of you. He
-
just said, don't because he prayed. He used his prayer
-
language and his gift, and he treasured it and he
-
used it all the time. And then the third is
-
that one that most people have a problem with. It's
-
when somebody stands up in a corporate worship experience and
-
they give a message in tongues and that is accompanied
-
by interpretation. The third in that list interpretation. So somebody
-
gives a message in tongues, somebody stands up in interprets.
-
Now, this is what scripture says.
-
And I'm trying to cover a lot, and I and
-
I'm not close to being done, but I'm not gonna
-
keep you forever.
-
Amen.
-
We'll be out here by three. Actually I got a
-
meeting at too, so we'll be out by two. So
-
here's the thing interpretation that we don't have somebody that
-
wears a jersey that like says interpreter on it. Every
-
time I have somebody that's that's not Pentecostal, they look
-
at me and say, y'all got an interpreter at y'all's church,
-
as if like we keep them in a room somewhere,
-
you know. And when somebody gives a man like hey, hey, hey, hey,
-
come get in there, get.
-
A micro want to get in there. No, here's the thing.
-
It's a spiritual gift.
-
If you have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
-
Listen to me, you got that gift. It's there, it's potential.
-
Send you it's there. But the reality is, Paul says,
-
when you give a message in tongues, pray that you
-
receive the interpretation, interpret it yourself, and if not, someone
-
else will come alongside. But the same thing goes.
-
Listen. You know, we have people that.
-
Worship in their prayer language that they pray out loud.
-
That does not require an interpretation because that's prayer language.
-
That's not a message.
-
A message in tongues, and an interpretation is equal to prophecy.
-
Those are the three proclamation gifts. The second set is
-
the perception gifts Word of wisdom, where God gives you
-
the wisdom and the ability to speak into a situation.
-
And most of the time people just look at you
-
and say, while you're wise beyond your years.
-
They don't say that to me anymore because I'm old,
-
but they used to say, oh, you're wise, and it's
-
the gift of wisdom. Pastor Clay operates at a very
-
high level in Word of wisdom, very high level because
-
I know him. He's not as smart as the things
-
that come out of his mouth. Amen, I just know.
-
So it's word of wisdom, high level word of wisdom.
-
The next is word of knowledge. It's when God gives
-
you the ability to understand what's happening in somebody's life
-
with no context.
-
You just know that something's going on.
-
You know what that thing is, so that you can
-
speak into that thing. The fourth is discernment, the ability
-
to know if something's origin is of the enemy or
-
of God. Something is originated with the enemy or something
-
is originated with God. That's a hard thing that goes
-
back to remember trials and temptations that we preached about
-
a couple of weeks ago. Discernment is where that comes
-
into play. The third group the power gifts. These are
-
the ones everybody wants because this gets you on TBN.
-
This is the one. These are the ones right here. Faith.
-
Faith is the currency of the Kingdom. Faith allows me
-
to stand and believe that God is doing something. He's
-
collapsing time frames, He's bringing something out of the invisible
-
and setting it in the visible. Faith is what allows
-
us to stand no matter what the enemy's doing. Faith
-
gives us the assurance that even if we fail, God
-
has got us. It was faith when Peters stepped out
-
of the boat onto the water, and it was still
-
faith even if he sank, because he believed and took
-
action on his belief. And listen, faith is this. I'm
-
willing to fail if it's on God's behalf. I'm willing
-
to fail if it glorifies Jesus. I don't have to win,
-
it doesn't have to come to pass. I just believe
-
him and I trust him. And if he says jump,
-
I don't even look for a place to land.
-
I just go.
-
Miracles a divine interruption in the natural progression of things.
-
Somebody comes in, they have cancer, we pray, they leave,
-
they ain't got it. Miracle.
-
Amen, I'm twenty seven dollars short on my rent. Somebody
-
walks up to me after church hands me twenty seven dollars.
-
Miracle.
-
The scope of those things feel different equal miracle. There's
-
no big miracles and little miracles. It is the divine
-
interruption in the night occurrence of things. So miracle. They're
-
all around you every single day. If you will look,
-
they're all around you every day. Because you're a broker
-
of miracles. The lass is healing. It's when God comes
-
alongside and he speeds up that natural progression of things.
-
Let me say that again, He speeds up the natural
-
progression of things. A miracle is when He intervenes. Healing
-
is when it's progressive, but it's sped up and God
-
keeps you. He brings your he brings your restoration faster,
-
your recovery is easier. He's allowed those things to happen
-
in your life. It's still progressive, it's still moves, but
-
still a testimony, and it still baffles those that are
-
in the healthcare world and the people around you, and
-
as a testimony to them, that's healing.
-
Clay, come and get ready.
-
These nine gifts are in a tool belt that we
-
wear into the world that we're equipped to glorify Jesus
-
in both the good times and the bad times, in
-
front of our small group and in.
-
Front of the world.
-
It is a is it an equipping and an empowering
-
for the believer to live Jesus out loud. In Acts
-
Chapter two, verse one, this is when we see the
-
New Testament church born. This is when the modern church,
-
the way the modern church is supposed to function, was born.
-
In Acts, chapter two, Verse one, it says, when the
-
day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with
-
one accord in one place, and suddenly there came a sound.
-
From heaven.
-
Was as of a rushing, mighty wind, and it filled
-
the whole house.
-
Where they were sitting.
-
Then there appeared to them divided tongues as a fire,
-
and once in one set upon each of them, and
-
they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began
-
to speak with other tongues.
-
As the spirit gave them utterance.
-
There was a There was suddenly a change in the
-
atmosphere of that place where there was.
-
There was this this.
-
Moment where where God was just there more than he
-
previously was his manifest presence, and he began to sit
-
on each of the believers. And this had happened throughout
-
all the writings of the Old Testament. He had moved
-
on the prophets, and they prophesied. He had moved on people,
-
and they were healed. He had moved on. He had
-
moved on, he had moved on, he had sat upon
-
he had.
-
But for the first time something different happened.
-
Instead of sitting on them, it says they were all filled.
-
That the Holy.
-
Spirit didn't just change the outer context, but he changed
-
the inner context, and he would dwell inside the believer
-
from that moment on and empower them with signs and
-
wonders that would glorify Christ and lift him up above
-
every situation, in every circumstance, and point the way to
-
serve a supernatural God, not a God that takes pleasure
-
in our hurt and our pain, but a God who
-
is trying to deliver us through it. If we could
-
just get our eyes on him, and he sent the
-
church here so that we could show people that there
-
is a better way, that there is a way through,
-
that there is a way to make it, if we'll
-
just trust and.
-
Dig into those gifts that he placed on the inside
-
of us. Today is the day.
-
That we become more like the early first Church, because
-
we embrace and we understand the power of Holy.
-
Spirit, no emotion.
-
You know what I would normally do, and in years prior,
-
what I would normally do is I would I'd tell
-
a story right now, tell us tell this moving story. Man.
-
I get y'all all fired up, excited, and I'd be like,
-
if you want that, come on to the hater. You'd
-
be like, whoa, you'd run down here, I push you
-
down in the floor. Come on, somebody, I've done it, man,
-
I've gone listen. Early in my ministry, I'd go home
-
my shoulder and be so sore because I'd be like ah,
-
because I was so concerned whether people fail or not.
-
But now I realize I don't care if you fall
-
or not. If you fall high you get up. Do
-
you get up empowered? Do you leave just dying to
-
tell somebody about Jesus?
-
Do you leave wanting to be on Hell's hit list?
-
So right now, as you think about it, everybody standing
-
with me, if you're hearing you say, pastor.
-
Hey, you know this whole empowered by the Holy Ghost thing.
-
I like that. I want to live different. I want
-
that boldness. You know. Our denomination.
-
Teaches that that the initial physical evidence of the baptism
-
of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. And there
-
is a pattern in the Book of Acts that when
-
people got baptized in the Holy Ghost, that they spoke
-
in tongues.
-
Then one time they spoke in tongues and they prophesied.
-
Then another time Peter was preaching and it just happened
-
and they started speaking in tongues, and then we don't
-
know what happened when Paul got the baptism of the
-
Holy Spirit.
-
We know that he eventually spoke in tongues.
-
But here's something that is not a pattern, something that
-
exclusively happened every single time somebody got the baptism of
-
the Holy Ghost, is that they they were empowered in
-
boldness of witness. They told people about Jesus. Now, I
-
personally believe that when you receive the baptism of the
-
Holy Spirit, you speak in tongues.
-
But I can't look and say that I know that.
-
I know that. I know it's my personal opinion because
-
it happened to.
-
Me that way, it happened to Pastor Gary that way,
-
It's happened to so many people I've seen that way,
-
and that's what I believe. But listen, if you leave
-
here in boldness, how can I say you didn't receive
-
the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
-
But I want you to get all today, Alterton, come
-
on down.
-
So if you're here and you want to receive the
-
baptism of the Holy Spirit, or maybe you've had the
-
baptism of the Holy Spirit, but you know, it's just
-
not cool.
-
Today. You know what I mean. We got a worship
-
leader that looks like Jesus. We want them hip churches.
-
You know it ain't cool.
-
I mean, look at me rocking the I mean the
-
vintage den them. I mean they're cool looking people, you know.
-
I mean, look at me, a cool cat.
-
And you think you know why. It's just not something
-
that I've regularly done.
-
I haven't come back week after a week just saying God,
-
touch me and feel me.
-
God touched me and feel me. Because you know, I've
-
had some some sin.
-
I've made some decisions in my life that I think
-
I kinked the power of the Holy Spirit flowing through
-
my life. And I want to come and make things
-
right and I want to be touched again and baptized again.
-
But if you're looking for this experience, I'm gonna count
-
to three. If you want to receive the baptism of
-
the Holy Spirit. When I count to three, I want
-
you to step out. I want you to move if
-
you want to be touched by God freshen you. You've
-
received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but you want
-
to be touched again, I'm gonna count to three, and
-
when I count to three, You're not gonna wait to
-
see if anybody else moves. You're just gonna You're just
-
gonna step out and move because this is about you
-
and your ability to be empowered to glorify Jesus, not popularity.
-
This is about you and God. So on the count
-
of three, I want you to step and move if
-
that's you. So as I say three, they're gonna start
-
singing one, two, three, step out and move right now,
-
Come on,
