  1. Amen, Amen and amen ushers, if you would come and

  2. we're going to we're gonna start today in John chapter twenty.

  3. If you got a Bible, go to John chapter twenty.

  4. This morning, we're gonna start there. I want to talk

  5. to you today on the topic of there's a place

  6. for you. There's a place for you. If you have

  7. the Church Center app. You can take notes there. Don't

  8. forget that there's filling the blanks there. All the scriptures

  9. are there. Everything is there on the Church Center app

  10. for you. In John chapter twenty, starting in verse one,

  11. John chapter twenty, Verse one, it says, now on the

  12. first day of the week, Mary Magdalen went to the

  13. tomb early while it was still dark, and saw that

  14. the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then

  15. she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the

  16. other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, they've

  17. taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we

  18. do not know where they've laid him. Peter therefore went

  19. out and the other disciple, and we're going to the tombs.

  20. So they both ran together, and the other disciple out

  21. ran Peter and came to the tomb first, and he,

  22. stooping down looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there,

  23. Yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came

  24. following him and went into the tomb, and he saw

  25. the linen clothes lying there, and the handkerchief that had

  26. been around his head not lying with the linen claws,

  27. but folded together in a place by itself. Then the

  28. other disciple who came to the tomb first, went in also,

  29. and he saw and he believed. Let's pray, Father, we

  30. thank you for your word. It's the only change agent

  31. on the face of the planet. And I pray that

  32. today it changes us.

  33. At the very fabric of our being.

  34. Lord, that a harvest comes from the seeds that are

  35. planted today, and our lives are transformed.

  36. We give you glory and awe for it in Jesus' name. Amen.

  37. Amen, you know this, uh, this passage of scripture. I

  38. like passages of scripture like this because it shows us

  39. how common.

  40. The people that Jesus called to follow him were.

  41. You know, through this, this is like the monumental moment.

  42. This is like the pivotal place of our faith. Jesus

  43. has risen, He's beaten death hell and the grave, and

  44. John is writing this and and.

  45. He talks about him and Peter they're running.

  46. To the tomb and that that that they're about to

  47. get the good news that Jesus has risen. And right

  48. in the midst of it, John points out that he

  49. outran Peter. He just pointed out that he was faster

  50. that day and he outran him to the tomb. These

  51. were people that listen that they that they argued and

  52. they jockeyed for position the whole time they were with Jesus,

  53. and in this moment it was no different. They were

  54. trying to outrun each other. They were trying to one

  55. up somebody. I just wonder what happened to the spirit

  56. of competition in the church. I wonder what happened to

  57. you just looking at what other people are doing for

  58. the kingdom and you just want to.

  59. Do a little more.

  60. Just a thought, That's not what I'm.

  61. Preaching on today, Just a thought, just a thought that

  62. maybe you know, you look and somebody brought four people today,

  63. so next week you bring five people. I'm just wondering

  64. if maybe we need a little more of that function

  65. like that. I mean, I know some of you are

  66. competitive people, I've been on the golf course with some

  67. of you. I've been and I've seen some of you.

  68. Coach and scream and yell and do all those.

  69. Things that you do. I mean, I've seen those things.

  70. Let's get a little fired up about what Jesus is

  71. doing and just let that spirit of competition, not the

  72. unhealthy one that grips your life, but the one that

  73. motivates you and causes you just do a little bit more.

  74. John outran Peter to the tomb. But when they got there,

  75. John his religiosity kicked in just a little bit, and

  76. he looked in, but he wasn't willing to go in,

  77. because the living were not supposed to go into the

  78. place of the dead. But Peter, being who he was,

  79. he just gets there and he dives straight in and

  80. he begins to look around, and he saw something that

  81. John didn't see, and he saw something that Jesus intentionally

  82. left there for him. When Peter went in, he saw

  83. the grave clothes lying by themselves, And then he looked

  84. and he saw the towel, the handkerchief folded neatly by itself.

  85. The same hands that were pierced with nails. Took the

  86. time to fold the towel and place it to the

  87. side so that Peter would see it. It was a

  88. a moment where Jesus was speaking directly to him, but

  89. it echoed two thousand years to today.

  90. In John chapter thirteen, verse three.

  91. We need to back up to see the significance of

  92. this moment. In John chapter thirteen, starting in verse three,

  93. says Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things

  94. into his hands, that he had come from God and

  95. was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside

  96. his garments, and he took a towel, and he girded himself.

  97. After that, he poured water.

  98. Into a basin, and he began to wash the disciples

  99. feet and to wipe them with the towel which he

  100. was girded with. Then he came to Simon Peter, and

  101. Peter said to him, Lord, are you washing my feet?

  102. Jesus answered and said to him what I'm doing. You

  103. do not understand now, but you will know after this.

  104. Peter said to him, you shall never wash my feet.

  105. And Jesus said to him, if I do not wash

  106. your feet, you have no part with me. If I

  107. don't wash your feet, you don't belong to me. If

  108. I don't wash your feet, there's no place for you

  109. with me. See, the towel whispered from the tomb, you

  110. have a place with me. He looked to that pivotal

  111. moment where he had this intense conversation with Peter. Peter

  112. defiantly said, no, no, Lord, you don't need to do

  113. that for me. I'm already submitted, I already understand. I'm

  114. already walking with you. And he said no, no, no, no, no,

  115. no no. It's important for this to happen. It's important

  116. to you, for you to see the serve oft leadership.

  117. It's important for you to receive this because this is

  118. going to be transformational in your life. This is a

  119. moment that you're going to look to. And then in

  120. the tomb, Jesus left the towel to point back to

  121. that moment to tell Peter you always have a place

  122. with me.

  123. The towel says to you, there is a place.

  124. For you in the kingdom.

  125. Now you have to remember that Jesus had already spoken

  126. to Peter, and he said, listen, you're gonna deny me

  127. three times. You're gonna deny me before the rooster crows

  128. you're gonna deny me.

  129. And that's exactly what happened.

  130. Peter had been this bolsterous person, and then when Jesus

  131. was taken away, Peter began to tell people, no, no, no, no,

  132. I don't even know who that is.

  133. But Jesus still left the towel.

  134. Even though he denied him, even though he fell short,

  135. even though he messed up, Jesus was still crying from

  136. the tomb, Peter, I have not forsaken you.

  137. I haven't left you. I haven't given up on you.

  138. There's still a plan for you, there's still a purpose

  139. for you.

  140. You have a place in the Kingdom.

  141. And the place in the Kingdom is more significant than

  142. anything we could ever imagine.

  143. The place for us in God's Kingdom.

  144. Is not one of just survival, of just making ends me,

  145. and it's not one of just going through the motions.

  146. But it is a life of fulfillment.

  147. It's a life that's above anything we could ever live

  148. anywhere else, because there is such significance attached to it,

  149. significance beyond the trappings of the world. When we look

  150. at the world and the way things operate, everything is

  151. attached to some monetary value, almost everybody's identity is attached

  152. to monetary value. Where I live, what I have, the

  153. shoes that I wear, the car that I drive, all

  154. of those things that the trappings of that capture.

  155. Us and captivate us.

  156. But there is so much more to kingdom living than

  157. the things we have. It's who God has called us

  158. to be and the fulfillment we can experience in the

  159. midst of His peace, even in a troubled storm, when

  160. we're doing what He's called us to do. See, the

  161. significance in you is about reaching someone else for the

  162. Kingdom's sake. The significance in you is that He has

  163. given you the power and the ministry and the word

  164. of reconciliation that you carry, the word that you carry,

  165. the ability to reconcile falling man to Holy God by

  166. speaking the truth of Jesus in a moment, And that's

  167. who God has trusted you to be. He could have

  168. chosen any method he wanted to choose, but he chose

  169. to use people. He chose to use us and our brokenness.

  170. He chose to use us and our insecurity. He chose

  171. to use us and all of our dysfunction and all

  172. of those things.

  173. But so many of us.

  174. We cower down because of guilt and shame. The scripture

  175. says that the moment we're born again, our shame is

  176. washed away, our sin is washed away, we're made brand new,

  177. a new creation. Those things are gone, and behold, all

  178. things are made new.

  179. And the enemy tells you the.

  180. Lie, time and time and time again, that you're not enough,

  181. you're not good enough, you're not significant enough.

  182. He can't use you. You're not smart enough, you're not.

  183. Educated enough, You've done too many bad things. I came

  184. into the Kingdom of God. I felt like Paul. I

  185. felt like that I was the chief of sinners, that

  186. when it came to things you weren't supposed to do,

  187. I led the way. But God still spoke to me

  188. in a moment, in an instant, in one of my

  189. most unlovable moments, he reached down and he picked me up,

  190. and he restored life to my body. And I could

  191. not imagine anything better than the moment I met him,

  192. the moment that he came in and set me free

  193. from all the things that had me bound. Not just

  194. set me free, but put me on a path to

  195. purpose that was I didn't even plan. That put me

  196. on a path to purpose. I should have been when

  197. I did that. Right. If I had a handheld microphone

  198. didn't sound as powerful. Because I wear a head, said

  199. a path to purpose, and he put me on that path.

  200. And I look back, and I see so many times

  201. that God gave me opportunities that I didn't deserve because

  202. it was his grace. So many times that God opened

  203. a way for me to be able to step into

  204. a situation that I didn't deserve.

  205. It was only by his grace.

  206. See, the tomb is empty so that your life can

  207. be full. The tomb is empty so that you can.

  208. Live a full life.

  209. In John chapter ten, verse ten, probably one of my

  210. favorite passages of scripture in all the Bible, that.

  211. Says, the thief come.

  212. The thief does not come except to steal and to

  213. kill and to destroy.

  214. See, the only time he comes.

  215. He doesn't show up if he's not stealing something, if

  216. he's not killing something, if he's.

  217. Not destroying something.

  218. The only time the enemy shows up in your life

  219. is when he wants to kill your purpose. He wants

  220. to destroy your reputation. He wants to steal your joy.

  221. He wants to steal the fruit that's growing in your life.

  222. He shows up to do those things. But that's not

  223. the end of the scripture. It says I have come

  224. now Jesus is writing this.

  225. I have come that.

  226. They may have life, and that they may have it

  227. more abundantly. That we can experience life that's not bound

  228. by the principles of the world and the pressures that

  229. the world face, because we have the equalizing pressure of

  230. the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us that

  231. when hard times come, Holy Spirit pushes back and he

  232. keeps the pressure equalized. So we don't suffer the way

  233. other people suffer, and we don't stress out the way

  234. other people stress out, and we don't worry the way

  235. other people worry, because we understand that Jesus has called

  236. us to life and life more abundantly. It doesn't look

  237. like everybody else's life looks. And it's all because of

  238. the empty tomb that he destroyed death, hell and the

  239. grave in a moment.

  240. You know, when we look.

  241. At the sacrifice of Jesus, what he did for us,

  242. so many times we focus on the death on the cross,

  243. but the significant moment of extravagant love was when the

  244. stone rolled away. Because nobody loves you enough nobody else loves.

  245. You enough to come back from the dead for you.

  246. There are people in here right now that could probably

  247. probably would take a bullet for you.

  248. They would probably.

  249. Lay down their life for you, but they don't have

  250. the love for you to come back from the dead

  251. the way Jesus did to impart to you life and

  252. life rebundantly. What happened in the tomb that day was

  253. not a one time thing.

  254. We think that Jesus was raised from the dead and that.

  255. That was this moment, but it's happened every day in

  256. history from that moment on that every day resurrection has happened.

  257. That every day someone has heard the good news and

  258. their life has been transformed. That every single day sin

  259. has died and the new Man has come to life.

  260. That every single day from that moment in the tomb

  261. until this moment, resurrection has happened because Jesus beat death,

  262. hell and the grave and he made a way for

  263. you to live in eternity. And every single time someone

  264. comes into the Kingdom it's a brand new resurrection from

  265. the dead. I wonder today what you're looking for Jesus

  266. to do. You know, so many of us, we we

  267. we dwell on the way things used to be. Come

  268. on now, the good old days, the way things used

  269. to be. I just want to I just want to

  270. say something to you. If the way things used to

  271. be would have saved everybody, then everybody would already be saved.

  272. Amen.

  273. Now there are some things we've moved on from. There's

  274. some things we need to get back to. But here's

  275. why we need to get back to them, so that

  276. we can move ahead to what God has for us.

  277. The greatest miracle we could ever see is for someone

  278. to experience God for the very first time, and for

  279. their sin to be rolled away, and for purpose and

  280. destiny to be birthed on the inside of them, for

  281. them to experience the same life. You get to experience

  282. life and life more abundantly. In Romans chapter eight, in

  283. verse nine, it says, but you're not in the flesh,

  284. but in the spirit. If indeed, the Spirit of God.

  285. Dwells in you.

  286. Now, if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,

  287. he's not his. And if Christ is in you, the

  288. body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is

  289. life because of righteousness. But if the spirit of Him

  290. who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He

  291. who raised Christ from the dead will also give life

  292. to your model, to your mortal bodies through His spirit

  293. who dwells in you. He says, the same spirit that

  294. raised Christ Jesus from the dead dwells in you.

  295. If you belong to Christ, the same power.

  296. That shook history dwells on the inside of you. The

  297. Tible says that your past is behind you, that your

  298. past is buried, and His power lives in you.

  299. The moment we get.

  300. Saved, abundant life and the power of God is resident

  301. on the inside of us.

  302. Now, I want to take just a moment here.

  303. Every single one of you who's born again in this

  304. place has the same spirit that raised up Christ Jesus

  305. from the dead.

  306. Every one of you.

  307. It doesn't say that, you know, I give him ten

  308. percent of the power, fifty percent of the power, seventy

  309. five percent of the same spirit. The same power that

  310. raised Christ Jesus from the dead is in you as

  311. a believer. So that means if there are ten, I

  312. hope there's more than ten. But if there are ten

  313. believers in this place today, that means that there are

  314. there is ten times more power in this place today

  315. than was in the tomb when Christ Jesus was raised

  316. from the dead.

  317. If there's fifty.

  318. Believers, there's fifty times the power that raised Christ Jesus

  319. from the dead in this place right now. This is

  320. a virtual power plant of God's miraculous power working in

  321. and through us right now, in this place today. And

  322. the only thing we have to do to experience that

  323. power is get past all of the insecurity that we

  324. have and realize that we have a place in the Kingdom.

  325. And the place is not in the back.

  326. The place is not pressed down, it's not beaten, it's

  327. not second rate. Its first class. And God is calling

  328. you to a significant moment in life. He's calling you

  329. up to purpose and you up to destiny so you

  330. can experience Him in a very real way and help

  331. others experience.

  332. Him in a very real way.

  333. The Tiele's whispering to you today, there's a place for you.

  334. There's a place for you in the Kingdom. Pastor Clay,

  335. you guys can come and get ready. There's a place

  336. for you in the Kingdom. It doesn't matter whatever that

  337. excuse is that you have in your mind right now,

  338. it doesn't matter where you've been and what you've done,

  339. where you were last night and what you did last night.

  340. It doesn't matter.

  341. All that matters is this moment right now, the fact

  342. that you're here. But the only thing you can think

  343. of about is getting out of here so you can

  344. get a so you can get your next fixed.

  345. It doesn't matter.

  346. You're so consumed with worry because of the things that

  347. are happening in your life. It doesn't matter. When Jesus

  348. was lying in that tomb he was fixated on you,

  349. that he looked into this room today and.

  350. He saw you and his love and passion and desire

  351. for you, or why.

  352. The spirit touched his body he moved for the very

  353. first time. Could you imagine, could you imagine being in

  354. that tomb that day?

  355. Could you imagine.

  356. Just being a little fly on the wall, and this

  357. one that the enemy tried so hard to kill, that

  358. the religious order tried so hard to kill, And there

  359. he is, wrapped in grave clothes.

  360. It's just a little it's a little moment.

  361. Just a just maybe maybe a twitch, maybe just a twitch,

  362. and the grave clothes moved.

  363. Maybe it was a breath. His chest lifted, just a bent.

  364. Mm hmm.

  365. And with each breath he thought of you. He began

  366. to move, shake himself.

  367. Free those grave clothes that had him bound. Maybe you

  368. feel bound today, but Jesus is beginning to move on

  369. the inside of you, and he's beginning to call you

  370. out of those grave clothes. He's beginning to call you

  371. out of the tomb that your life has been in

  372. depression and anxiety, and coldness and darkness and indifference in

  373. all of those things.

  374. He's calling you out of those things. Those grave clothes

  375. begin to fall.

  376. To the side, and he sits up, face covered.

  377. And with a hole still in his hands. He took

  378. that title and he folded it and he laid it

  379. down so that.

  380. Someone in the tomb, someone in the damp, dark place

  381. of death, could find it.

  382. And realize.

  383. There's a place for me.

  384. You may have never experienced love in your entire life.

  385. You may have gone through heard and brokenness, trauma and pain.

  386. You feel like there's nobody on your side. Maybe somebody

  387. invited you here today and you think they're not even

  388. really my friend. They just invited me here because their

  389. pastor ask them to. I want you to know that

  390. maybe they don't like you, but Jesus does. Maybe they

  391. hate you, but Jesus loves you. It's not his fault.

  392. That you've been going through the things you've been going through.

  393. He is the answer to the pain.

  394. He's the answer to the pain, and today he wants

  395. to lift you up and set you in a place

  396. that's already been designed for you.

  397. Jesus wants you today.

  398. With every head and bound and every eye closed. If

  399. you're here today and you feel forgotten, you feel broken, underappreciated,

  400. m hm.

  401. You feel like people don't care, people don't get you.

  402. Jesus is here.

  403. If you're here today, you want to be set free

  404. from the.

  405. The shame of sin.

  406. You want to give your life to Jesus, be set

  407. free from the things that have you bound, from addiction

  408. and am your depression and all of those things. You

  409. want to come to the Lord today. If that's you,

  410. just slip your hand up and say that's me, Pastor,

  411. pray for me.

  412. I want to give my life to Jesus today.

  413. I want to.

  414. Finally belong somewhere. Amen.

  415. I see that hand. I want to finally Amen. I

  416. see that hand. Amen, I see that hand. If you're

  417. here today and you say I just for so long,

  418. I felt like I've been by myself.

  419. For so long. It's been so hard.

  420. I've been trying to make it and I don't know

  421. if I can't make it anymore. If that's you, just

  422. slip your hand up and say that's me. I want

  423. to turn it over to Jesus.

  424. Amen.

  425. I see that hand, Amen, I see that hand. I

  426. feel in my spirit that there's somebody here to David

  427. that you've considered, that you've considered.

  428. Taking your own little life because you feel so abandoned

  429. and so alone.

  430. The Lord has a place for you.

  431. There's value in you, there's worth in you.

  432. He's calling you. Where are you just slipping him and said,

  433. that's my pastor. I'm ready to come to Jesus.
