  1. Amen.

  2. Listen, guys, we're I worship when I worship went long

  3. today because sometimes the presidence of the Lord just shows

  4. up and he has his way.

  5. Amen. Amen.

  6. So I can't do I can't do my message full

  7. justice today by launching it right now, because everybody's gonna

  8. miss lunch if we do that, and I don't want

  9. to do that.

  10. So what I want to.

  11. Do is just just kind of touch on what I

  12. was gonna preach today just a little bit, but not

  13. go into the to the depth of the message. So

  14. if you have a Bible, go to Matthew chapter twenty three.

  15. Matthew chapter twenty three. We're gonna read there starting in

  16. verse twenty three. Let me pray, Father, I just thank

  17. you for your mercy and your grace. What I thank

  18. you for who you are and all that we can

  19. be in you. What I pray that today you would

  20. I open our ears to hear and our hearts to

  21. receive your word. That you would comfort us, that you

  22. would strengthen us, that you would guide us, that you

  23. would show us your principles. Lord, we love you, and

  24. we thank you in Jesus' name. Amen, Amen, and amen.

  25. You know when we're talking about giving. There are things

  26. that we need to understand. Some things God claims, some

  27. things God establishes, and some things you choose. I want

  28. to quickly go through this and we'll go into greater

  29. depth next week. But you know, sometimes God speaks and

  30. he asks for things. I don't know if you've ever

  31. had that happen in your life, but God will ask

  32. you for something.

  33. God will move on your heart.

  34. He'll say, hey, I want you to do this, I

  35. want you to give this. I want you to turn

  36. that over to me, whatever it is. And those things

  37. are referred to in scripture as dedicated things. Those are

  38. things that God has asked for. And when God asks

  39. for something, we don't really have a say in it.

  40. And you realize that there are other things that we

  41. don't really have a say in that we should be doing.

  42. That it's not a voluntary obedience where we're doing something

  43. and we're being obedient. But there's some baseline faith things

  44. that we're supposed to do that God calls us to,

  45. like prayer, say Amen, like studying the Word, like sharing

  46. your faith. Those basic entry level things that we don't

  47. really have a say in.

  48. God just says do them. He doesn't need us to

  49. weigh in.

  50. He doesn't need us to listen when it comes to

  51. sharing your faith. I've had so many people say, you know,

  52. I was the other day. I went to the store

  53. and I was asking the Lord. There was this lady

  54. there and she was crying, and I was asking the Lord, Lord,

  55. should I talk to her? Should I go and minister

  56. to her?

  57. What should I do? Lord?

  58. And you know, and I know what's supposed to because

  59. she walked away.

  60. Listen, you don't have to pray and ask God.

  61. If he wants you to witness to somebody he wants

  62. you Okay, I will go ahead and take save you

  63. the time he wants you to. If you stop and pray,

  64. the answer is going to be yes, Yes, go witness

  65. to that person.

  66. He's never gonna say no.

  67. There is no person that God wants to go to Hell,

  68. and He may use you to make the introduction to him.

  69. So always be obedient, Always be looking for those opportunities.

  70. Dedicated things are those things that God speaks to us,

  71. and we give those things and listen to me, there

  72. is no there is no financial gain, there is no return,

  73. there is no blessing associated with those things.

  74. If God asks for it.

  75. You give those things us because God asked for them.

  76. It's just one of those moments where we go from

  77. glory to glory because we've stepped into a whole nother

  78. level of obedience.

  79. And God did this all throughout scripture. He asked for things, and.

  80. People gave them or they didn't, and they reaped the consequence.

  81. They reaped the con rept that's not even where they

  82. reaped the consequences of not being obedient, because obedience has consequences,

  83. you know.

  84. We see that. The biggest, the biggest.

  85. Real, most flambuoyant story we see about this is when

  86. Israel went into the city of Ai and they defeated Ai,

  87. and God's instruction was, don't take anything from the city,

  88. utterly destroy everything, and do not take any spool, don't

  89. take goals, don't take clothes, don't take anything. And then

  90. Aching and his family they went in and they took

  91. things and they hid them in their tent, and God

  92. punish them severely because of their disobedience, because those were

  93. dedicated things that God said.

  94. Those belong to me, they're not yours.

  95. You can't have them. Obedience is important to the Lord.

  96. Obedience is greater than sacrifice. So there's things that God claims,

  97. and then there's principles. There's processes that God establishes those

  98. things like tithe that is a process that is established,

  99. We set in those we walk into those things. We

  100. understand those things, and here is here's something that's happening now.

  101. Listen.

  102. I don't have a problem with anybody questioning anything.

  103. Come on, somebody. You don't even have.

  104. To believe the same thing I believe to be a

  105. thriving part of our faith community. There's lots of people

  106. that don't believe the same things I believe that are here,

  107. and that's okay, because if.

  108. We can agree that.

  109. Jesus died for the sins of.

  110. The world, and that he rose again, and that.

  111. He is seated at the right hand of the Father, Listen,

  112. we can ride into battle together. It don't matter what

  113. else you believe. Amen, I will line up with a

  114. water pistol and storm hell with you. If we can

  115. agree on those three things, that's all it takes.

  116. But there are some things.

  117. That God establishes, not that determine whether we go to heaven,

  118. not none of those things, but how we function in

  119. the rest of our relationship with Him. And the other

  120. principles that he establishes. And there is a huge move

  121. right now, especially on social media and areas where because

  122. let me just let me let you guys in on something.

  123. When you are following people on social media, even me,

  124. if you don't know me and people are following me

  125. on social media, they should dive deep to see if

  126. what I'm saying is truth. Amen, When you're following people

  127. on social media, here is the least that social media is.

  128. You need to say something new or shocking to keep

  129. people following you and attract new people to follow you.

  130. When it comes to the word of God, if somebody

  131. is saying something new, it's dangerous. If somebody has found

  132. a new truth, stay away from it because there is

  133. nothing new under the sun. The principles of God have

  134. been in the hands of mankind for a couple of

  135. thousand years now, and we need to understand that people

  136. are not finding new things. It should be old information

  137. applied in a modern way. Amen, there is Scripture does

  138. not mean different things to different people. Scripture only means

  139. one thing, but the application may be different in the

  140. people's lives, but it means the same thing.

  141. And there's this huge move right now.

  142. Because there's a lot of people that are disenfranchised and

  143. just kind of.

  144. Just worn out by the church.

  145. Because I'm gonna be honest with you, the church doesn't

  146. adapt quickly. We lag behind. We're normally not up front

  147. as far as cultural relevance and pushing the threshold and

  148. architecting the future.

  149. That's not something the church is good at. We're kind

  150. of a.

  151. Ship that steers slowly, Amen, and as a result, we

  152. hit a lot of icebergs. We do because we steer

  153. the ship slowly, and people just kind of get tired.

  154. And there's this huge.

  155. Push right now, and people won't admit it, but it's

  156. a push against the organized church, and it's a push

  157. that says, Hey, first of all, the church is not

  158. the church because we're an incorporated entity, and the church

  159. back then was not incorporated, right because that didn't exist.

  160. Amen.

  161. There was no tax incentive back then. There was none

  162. of that stuff back then. Yeah, that's just like I

  163. don't wear a long flowing robe today because it's just

  164. not relevant today.

  165. That's just not what we do. Amen, doesn't mean I'm

  166. less like Jesus.

  167. And there's this big push that tithing is not a

  168. real thing, that tithing is not real, that it's not something,

  169. that it's not an institution that we should be part of.

  170. As a matter of.

  171. Fact, tithing is abusive, is now the general thought from

  172. people on social media. And they make this statement, and

  173. up until not long ago, I agreed with them tithing,

  174. that Jesus never talked about tithing in the New Testament.

  175. And I've read this passage of Scripture. I don't know

  176. how many times I've read this passage of Scripture, and

  177. probably in the light of those things, I've just seen

  178. something in it that just stands out. Let's read Matthew

  179. chapter twenty three, starting in verse twenty three together. It says,

  180. woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you pay

  181. tithe of mint and a niece and Cuman and have

  182. neglected the weightier matters of the law, justice and mercy

  183. and faith.

  184. Now listen, these you ought to have done, he says.

  185. Listen, you should worry about the greater things, because these

  186. other issues.

  187. Are entry level issues.

  188. You should worry about justice, You should worry about the

  189. weightier issues.

  190. You should put a lot of your.

  191. Focus on those things and not worry about the other

  192. that's just obedience. Do you realize that these other things

  193. they take some effort, They take some they take us

  194. initiating ourselves into the issue when we're helping people work

  195. through problems, when we're trying to operate in forgiveness. Do

  196. you know it's not easy to operate in forgiveness. It's

  197. pretty easy to swipe your debit card. And he says, listen,

  198. you ought to do the way to your things. He's

  199. not diminishing the new things. What he's talking about is

  200. a group of people who had completely reduced their faith

  201. to just a series of rote actions and ceremony.

  202. And he says, serving.

  203. God is not just about that, but it is about

  204. that also, And he says, you ought to have done

  205. those things without leaving the others undone. He says, yeah,

  206. you should focus on the big things, but do the

  207. other too.

  208. And what is the other he was talking about.

  209. He specifically is talking about tithing. He says, you should

  210. do that, but don't do that in lieu of the

  211. weightier issues of the kingdom. Jesus himself says, those are

  212. entry level things. We should be doing those things. I'm

  213. calling you into that covenant with me. Continue to do.

  214. Those things.

  215. Blind gods who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel.

  216. Woe do you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, For you cleanse

  217. the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they're

  218. full of extortion and self indulgence. Blind pharisee, first cleanse

  219. the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside

  220. of them may be clean. Also, woe to use, scribes

  221. and pharisees hypocrites, for your like whitewashed tombs, which indeed

  222. appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's

  223. bones and all uncleanness. Even so, you also outwardly appear

  224. righteous to man, but inside you're full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

  225. On the issue of tithe, this is where Jesus rests.

  226. We should do it, but we should not.

  227. Do it as a sign of righteousness. We should not

  228. do it as an outward sign that we're better than anybody.

  229. We should do it because.

  230. He's calling us into it, but we should move on

  231. from it and go to the weightier issues of the gospel,

  232. or we are hypocrites.

  233. We can't just do those entry level things.

  234. It's time to step up and step out and be

  235. the people that God is calling us to be. So

  236. Jesus does indeed address tithing in the New Testament, and

  237. he says we should do it.

  238. Amen. So there are there are.

  239. Things that God claims, there are things that establish that

  240. God establishes, and then there's things that we get to choose.

  241. There's things that we choose.

  242. In the area of giving.

  243. We read the scripture last week in our introduction to

  244. this series, and it says, listen, let each give as

  245. he purposes in his heart. Offerings are all about what

  246. you purpose in your heart and what you decide to

  247. give to the Lord now without going deep into next week.

  248. And I know that I've got us off the schedule here,

  249. but worship and tithing go hand in hand. Offerings and

  250. praise go hand in hand. Tithing is an extension of worship,

  251. Offerings are an extension of praise. We're going to talk

  252. about how those things marry together and what those things

  253. do next week. But I just want you to know

  254. that God does address it without tying it to the

  255. order of Melchisedec and the hoops that we used to.

  256. Jump through and everybody's life.

  257. I don't know what Pastor said he's something about some

  258. guy and priests, and nobody died.

  259. Somebody died, everybody died. I don't know.

  260. Jesus just came right out and he addressed it. So

  261. that should settle it in your heart. And the benefits

  262. of tithing are immense. They go beyond anything you could

  263. ever imagine. And we're going to talk about those things

  264. next week. Amen, listen, I know that some of you

  265. here today probably don't fully grasp what happened in this

  266. worship experience, that there were things that happened, and people

  267. marching and people shouting and just repeating the same song

  268. over and over and over again, and you know, and

  269. you just don't understand what happened.

  270. You know, I'm gonna be honest with you. A lot of.

  271. Times, we don't know why those things happen either. We

  272. don't know why those things happen either other than the

  273. Lord just chooses to pour out his spirit on flesh.

  274. And when the Lord pours out his spirit, we respond

  275. and we react in all different kinds of ways. Because see,

  276. matter and individuals matter, and conditions of heart matter, and

  277. trials and tribulations matter, and situation and circumstance matter, and

  278. all of those things matter, and it's a response to

  279. the spirit. And here's the reality. The reality is that

  280. God was in this place this morning. He was in

  281. this place this morning, and it's undeniable. It's undeniable that

  282. the Spirit of the Lord was here. And I know

  283. the Spirit of the Lord is everywhere all the time,

  284. but sometimes he chooses to be a little more present.

  285. We call that his manifest presence. And when he's a

  286. little more present here than he is in other places,

  287. we just choose to be so thankful and give him

  288. thanks for that.

  289. And maybe in that moment, maybe in that.

  290. Moment, as the Lord was working and moving, you felt

  291. something in your heart. Maybe you felt something that you've

  292. never felt before, something that you've felt before but you've

  293. pressed down. You just felt the Lord calling you to

  294. a new place, calling you to a relationship with him.

  295. And if you're here today and you've never trusted Jesus

  296. with your life, you've never asked him to forgive you

  297. of your sins, you've never asked him to be your lord.

  298. But today, somehow in your heart, you just know that

  299. that's what He's asking you to do. I want to

  300. give you an opportunity to do that every head bowed

  301. and every eye closed. If you're here today and you

  302. would say, Lord, I need you. Lord.

  303. I know I'm a sinner.

  304. When I'm far from you, But today, in this moment,

  305. I want to bring my life to you so you

  306. can wash me clean. If that's you today and you say,

  307. Pastors thive, pray for me. I want Jesus to save me.

  308. If that's you, just slip up your hand and say,

  309. that's my pastor. I want to meet Jesus today. I

  310. want to give him my life, given my heart.

  311. To hell. I want to follow him without looking back.

  312. Just slip your hand up and put it right back down. Amen. Amen, Amen, Amen.

  313. Father, I just pray for every heart and every life.

  314. I asked that you work it, move like only you care.

  315. Father.

  316. We give you glory and honor and praise in Jesus' name. Amen,

  317. Amen and amen.

  318. Everybody staying with me.

  319. As the band scenes, we're gonna get ready to baptize

  320. some people. M
