  1. and this morning

  2. yesterday's activity a good time

  3. celebrating

  4. the 250th anniversary of our country

  5. I believe greatest country it's ever

  6. been that's my opinion

  7. it was it was founded on biblical

  8. many biblical ideas and it is my concern

  9. that those ideas eroded and lost have

  10. been eroded and lost in many ways. I

  11. want to talk about how some of those

  12. ideas come from the scriptures. I'm only

  13. touching a few. I' I've been told that

  14. in the discussions of the constitutional

  15. convention, the book of Deuteronomy

  16. decided more than any other source. And

  17. many people today want to a really big

  18. deal out of the Roman Republic and say

  19. well we were based on the Roman Republic

  20. but it's very interesting Roman Republic

  21. was founded in 509 BC

  22. which is a good 1200 years after the

  23. Hebrew republic was founded a lot of

  24. Christians have never even heard about

  25. the Hebrew republic what's a republic

  26. republic is representative government

  27. where you have rep representatives

  28. governing over the people If you've ever

  29. said the the the pledge of allegiance or

  30. heard the pledge of allegiance, you know

  31. that the flag we remember the republic

  32. for which it stands. It stands for

  33. republic, not for a democracy. Our

  34. founders looked at democracy as a great

  35. evil because when when you have a

  36. democracy, it's possible for as

  37. Deuteronomy warns for the multitude

  38. direct judgment. When when the majority

  39. of people can get together and vote to

  40. take away the property of other people,

  41. the lesser people or when you have a

  42. government where people in in strong

  43. positions of of financial positions can

  44. buy government.

  45. So we have a constitution that protects

  46. us. And you may think well constitution

  47. a written constitution that was a new

  48. idea. Well, again,

  49. as we'll see, the first republic, the

  50. Hebrew republic, was a constitutional

  51. republic. God gave them a government and

  52. he gave them laws. And the idea was that

  53. those laws were over everybody. It was

  54. over the judges. It was over the king.

  55. It was over the people. So, the idea of

  56. the rule of law is rooted in scripture.

  57. And I want to look at some of those

  58. foundations this morning. And so my

  59. sermon though this morning is the first

  60. constitutional republic.

  61. Government of government is a biblical

  62. concept and the blessing befitting of

  63. godly population. If you stand with me

  64. for the reading of God's word, we're

  65. going to read one verse more sermon this

  66. morning. Isaiah

    Isaiah 33:22

  67. 33 verse 22. For the Lord Yahweh is our

  68. judge. Yahweh is our lawgiver. Yahweh is

  69. our king. He will save us. Let us pray.

  70. Oh Lord God, we thank you that you are

  71. the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

  72. We rejoice that our Savior Jesus is name

  73. salvation.

  74. He will save. He has favor. God, we look

  75. to you, the sovereign judge of all the

  76. earth. Just as the the founders who pend

  77. the Declaration of the Independence

  78. declared their dependence upon you,

  79. sovereign judge of all the earth. Lord,

  80. we depend upon you this morning. We look

  81. to you, Father, as we look at some

  82. developments in our country. We look to

  83. you. You are our hope. You are our

  84. savior. You are. You are our king, our

  85. judge, our lawgiver. We look to you this

  86. morning. And we pray that you would rule

  87. and reign in the heart of your people.

  88. Amen.

  89. I'm going to be looking at various this

  90. morning. I'm going to be going to

  91. various places. A little more

  92. but particularly Deuteronomy

  93. to begin with. But I wanted to show you

  94. I wanted to start off with this one

  95. verse that in it you see what we call

  96. the three branches of government but

  97. they're all found in one person in God

  98. in Yahweh. You see all caps L O R Yahweh

  99. is our judge. Okay. So there within

  100. within God he is a judge and in our

  101. government we have a judicial branch.

  102. Yahweh is our lawgiver. Okay. Yes, he's

  103. our lawgiver. Rights come from God.

  104. Morality comes from God. And we have in

  105. our constitutional republic a

  106. legislative branch. And the Lord is our

  107. king. What does the king do? The king

  108. would lead out to war. The king the king

  109. was the executive. The executive of a

  110. nation. And so you have an executive

  111. branch. And then we have this little

  112. declaration. He will save us. It's very

  113. important if you're going to have a

  114. sustained people that your savior is

  115. Yahweh. Your savior is Jesus Christ our

  116. Lord. Why is that? Because when you

  117. don't look to him to be your savior,

  118. what do people look to? They look to the

  119. government. This is one reason why

  120. atheists are very very dangerous to be

  121. empowered because there's no higher

  122. power for the atheist than the civil

  123. swords. That's the highest power. That

  124. that is the highest court of

  125. arbitration. But for the Christian, we

  126. understand that that government, the

  127. government is on Christ's shoulders and

  128. all legitimate authority comes from him.

  129. So all authority is under authority

  130. whether it be in the church or in the

  131. family or in the civil sphere that that

  132. all authority comes from him and he is

  133. our savior. When people look to the

  134. government to save them that give them

  135. power and the same power that gives them

  136. the ability to save or they think we're

  137. the ability to save is ability to take

  138. and to steal and to oppress. This is the

  139. problem with pagan government and

  140. ungodly government. This is This is

  141. what's called humanistic government is

  142. that when you look when you look to the

  143. government to be the fountain head of

  144. rights, the source of of everything.

  145. When you look to the government to be

  146. your savior to give you cradle grade

  147. security, then then the government wants

  148. to have the power claims the power to do

  149. that. And it's the power that the

  150. government has the power to give you

  151. everything you want. It's been said has

  152. the power to take everything you have.

  153. And that's why it's extremely important

  154. that people understand our father is in

  155. heaven. He's not in wrong. Our provider

  156. is our savior. He saves us. We don't

  157. look for the government to save us. Now,

  158. why why is it that we have three

  159. branches of government in our country?

  160. Well, because our families understood

  161. that human beings are sinners

  162. and they have sinful sinful inclinations

  163. and that human beings in in positions of

  164. power themselves need accountability.

  165. They need authority. Why Romans 13 says,

  166. "Let every soul be subject to the powers

  167. that be is everyone who has authority

  168. must be under authority." We see this in

  169. the church that that when God when Paul

  170. set up churches, there was a plurality

  171. of elders. There was mutual

  172. accountability. And so the founders of

  173. our country, they they recognize that by

  174. dividing up the government into three

  175. branches with a a judicial branch and a

  176. legislative branch and an executive

  177. branch, they could keep each other in

  178. check because they knew they read their

  179. Bibles. They knew that uh sinful people

  180. need accountability. Government needs

  181. governing. That's why Romans 13 says

  182. that every soul

  183. be subject to the powers of that would

  184. include the king that would that would

  185. include every level government we are

  186. under authority and that's how we have

  187. authority this is a concern I have for

  188. even in the church when people tell me

  189. that we're home churching they're just

  190. going to have church in their home okay

  191. so there's nobody to keep the father

  192. accountable in that we need each other

  193. elders need eldering pastors need There

  194. needs to be a plurality and and so in

  195. civil government our founders with a

  196. firm understanding that human beings we

  197. we are fallen we are sinful and

  198. therefore we need checks and balances.

  199. God is holy and righteous. So in the one

  200. person of God he can be judge and

  201. lawgiver and king and savior but for

  202. human beings absolute power corrupt

  203. absolutely as the go and so in wisdom

  204. knowing the symptoms of man there are

  205. there's a division of government now I

  206. want to look at chapter one when Moses

  207. came out of Egypt I said some months ago

  208. that he's a mutous man

  209. that I quoted out the man in all the

  210. earth. He had the most power of any

  211. other human being other than Jesus. He

  212. had the most power that's ever heal

  213. supernatural power.

  214. Moses acted as a king and as a priest.

  215. He has he had complete total power when

  216. he came out of Egypt and and before God

  217. put him in that position, he let him be

  218. a for the in the desert to humble him.

  219. But but even Moses, even Moses

  220. misrepresented God by his authorities.

  221. But when Moses brought the children of

  222. Israel out of Egypt, he was weary

  223. because all day long he would be hearing

  224. cases and solving problems and it was

  225. his father-in-law came to him Jethro and

  226. he said, "What you're doing isn't good.

  227. You need to delegate. You need to

  228. delegate your authority to other

  229. people." And so this in chapter one,

  230. Deuteronomy chapter one and Exodus

  231. chapter uh 18 we have the foundation of

  232. the Hebrew republic. Deuteronomy chapter

    Deuteronomy 1 chapter mention

  233. 1 vers9 says at that time when I came

  234. out of Egypt at that time I said to you

  235. I am not able to bear you by my son. The

  236. Lord your God has multiplied you and

  237. behold you are today as numerous as the

  238. stars of heaven. May the Lord, the God

  239. of your fathers, make you a thousand

  240. times as many as you are and bless you,

  241. as he has promised you. How can I bear

  242. myself the weight and the burden of you

  243. in your strength? Cheers for your

  244. tribes, wise, understanding, experienced

  245. men, and I will appoint them as your

  246. head, and you answer me the things that

  247. you have spoken is good for us to do.

  248. Now, notice he says, you know, the

  249. people among you. So he says choose

  250. choose from uh choose for your tribe

  251. wise understanding experienced men. So

  252. is there a democratic element here? It

  253. appears so they were to choose. Moses

  254. didn't know personally every single

  255. person in there

  256. in the desert. So he said you select you

  257. choose you elect

  258. certain people. What kind? Well, men

  259. that are wise,

  260. wise men, people that that have a

  261. reputation for problem solving, people

  262. who had accomplished something in their

  263. life, people that had a track record

  264. that demonstrated wisdom and

  265. understanding and experience. They

  266. weren't to be noviceses. They were to be

  267. people with a track record. That's why I

  268. I think that before anybody runs for

  269. office, they ought to have a track

  270. record of having done something, manage

  271. something, build something. They'll have

  272. a track record. And and uh in Ezekiel, I

  273. think it's in Ezekiel 81 when it says

  274. men that fear God. Men that fear God and

  275. he says, "And I so they were to elect

  276. and given me the ordination." This is

  277. even as a church, we have uh when we

  278. have members meetings and there's a need

  279. for more elders or or deacons, we'll

  280. say, "Okay, we're going to have

  281. a nomination, a selection process. And

  282. as a church, we'll select people and um

  283. then the elders will approve them after

  284. they've been um kind of duted for a

  285. while and looked through to see if they

  286. fit the qualifications found here in in

  287. First Corinthians chapter 3. And so we

    1 Corinthians 3 chapter mention

  288. read on in verse 15. I took the heads of

  289. your tribes wise and strange men and set

  290. them at heads over you. Commanders of

  291. thousands, commanders of hundreds,

  292. commanders of 50, commanders of t and

  293. officers and throughout your time. These

  294. men would be known as the elders of

  295. Israel. The word elders means old

  296. literally but they became the president

  297. of the elders of Israel. This is where

  298. the concept of elders come from. There

  299. would be 70 elders that that were kind

  300. at the top and they would be on the

  301. Supreme Court. So we read also about the

  302. judges in verse 16 says I charge your

  303. judges at that time hear the cases

  304. between your brothers and judge

  305. righteously between a man and his

  306. brother or the

  307. you shall not be partial in judgment.

  308. You shall hear the small and the great

  309. alike. You shall not be intimidated by

  310. anyone for the judgment is God's and the

  311. case too hard for you. you shall bring

  312. to me and I will hear it and I and I

  313. commanded you at that time all the

  314. things that you should do. So here we

  315. see he selects officers commanders and

  316. also they select judges. So we have

  317. these commanders that their their word

  318. wouldn't be and it's been argued that

  319. when God set up his republic he had an

  320. executive branch and judicial branch but

  321. no legislative branch.

  322. Why? Because God gave them a body of

  323. laws and the judges were to apply God's

  324. law to given cases. It was a case law

  325. system. When you you may have heard that

  326. there are 613 laws in the Bible. 10 of

  327. them were special. They were set aside.

  328. They were written on stone by the finger

  329. of God. They were put in the ark of the

  330. covenant. There there's something

  331. special about the ten commandments. Many

  332. of the laws that you hear 613 have to do

  333. with laws for the priest and how to

  334. handle the sacrifices and the steps to

  335. take and the things to be done. But many

  336. of the laws are also civil laws that

  337. were caseless. They were a case that a

  338. judge could look at, could study, would

  339. identify the the principle behind it,

  340. the general equity principle of it. And

  341. even though that particular case law may

  342. have to do with oxen or don falling

  343. under the road, the idea behind the case

  344. law was it illustrated a principle that

  345. with sound reasoning, honest judges

  346. could apply it to a wide variety of

  347. cases. And this is why when you read

  348. when you read the law of God, don't

  349. don't look at it as well, this is just a

  350. bunch of archaic rules. If it sounds

  351. strange to you, if it sounds harsh to

  352. you, identify what the principle is and

  353. you'll find that you can apply it to

  354. many things in your life, including your

  355. personal life. You see Paul doing this

  356. in the New Testament. You see, Paul was

  357. applying the law of don't mle the ox to

  358. paying people wages. What does muzzling

  359. ox have to do with wages? Well, when a

  360. when an ox was spreading out in the

  361. field, God's word said you're not to put

  362. a muzzle on it. They need to be able to

  363. eat while they work. And so Paul takes

  364. that principle and he's able to apply it

  365. to the local pastor actually.

  366. So these laws were given to the judges

  367. to apply to all sorts of situations.

  368. There's a great advantage to this. The

  369. great advantage was uh today we have

  370. unending laws. We have we have rooms in

  371. Jefferson City. We have room filled in

  372. books of law that that some lawyer might

  373. go digging through to try to find a

  374. loophole, but we have tons of tits of

  375. law, statuto laws. Biblical law wasn't

  376. like that. It was a case that the wives

  377. could read, could memorize, could study,

  378. could discuss, could dialogue and debate

  379. and and they could apply it to a variety

  380. of situations. The common law of England

  381. was based upon this system. So at the

  382. founding of the republic, we were nation

  383. founders had common law court a lawyer

  384. to study under the tillage of another

  385. lawyer and eventually pass the bar and

  386. they learned legal reasoning and they

  387. learn to apply principles general

  388. principles from thousands of years of

  389. British law to gave

  390. them the law and they applied it to many

  391. situations and wise men could make

  392. decisions now we've gone over to

  393. tyrannical sort of thing where the

  394. government wants to pass a law that

  395. we've got we got nonelected agencies.

  396. We've got the EPA, we've got um the FDA,

  397. we have all these the ACF, we got all

  398. these agencies without any

  399. representation in the government

  400. whatsoever. Our Congress is delegating

  401. power to people that are themselves not

  402. elected and can't be voted out of

  403. office. That wasn't our founders vision

  404. and that wasn't God's vision. for

  405. ancient Israel. God gave them a set of

  406. laws. It wasn't an uneven multipet

  407. amount of laws. Now, there were

  408. officers. They would make decisions and

  409. I'm sure in little things they were

  410. making all kinds of commanders were

  411. making all kinds of decisions. But it's

  412. interesting to know that their judges

  413. had a case law system and you didn't

  414. have to know 10,000 laws to to uh do

  415. something simple. much regulation

  416. because we forsaken this concept. But

  417. the founders understood that concept and

  418. it was rooted in God's word. Now that's

  419. that's where your judges and your uh

  420. your judges and your officers came from.

  421. Now later on

  422. in Deuteronomy 16 he again talks about

  423. these judges and officers. Deuteronomy

  424. officers. In Deuteronomy 16, he says,

  425. "You shall appoint judges, talking about

  426. the teacher, and officers."

  427. You got officers or elders and judges in

  428. all your towns that the Lord your God

  429. has given you according to your tribe.

  430. And they shall judge the people with

  431. righteous judgment. You shall not

  432. pervert justice. You shall not show

  433. partiality. And you shall not accept the

  434. blind. For a blind blinds the eyes of

  435. the wise and subverts the cause of the

  436. righteous. Justice and only justice you

  437. shall follow that you may live and the

  438. land that the Lord your God is given

  439. you. You ever wonder how all of our our

  440. president even ones that come in with

  441. only moderate wealth be

  442. fabulously wealthy.

  443. I mean they go into office and they got

  444. $400,000 a year and then they leave

  445. office with many many many millions of

  446. dollars. How does that happen? How is it

  447. the Congress people that that have just

  448. been in in Congress their entire pretty

  449. much their entire lives and never ran a

  450. business, how can they have gazillion

  451. dollars? How does that happen? Well,

  452. here it is.

  453. And God said that's not the way it's

  454. supposed to be. You will judge with

  455. impartiality and judgment.

  456. specified that whether a stranger, a

  457. foreigner or native born, whether rich

  458. or poor, regardless, none of that

  459. matters. The same laws to apply for

  460. everyone. You ever notice how in the

  461. declaration we hold these truths to be

  462. self-evident that all men are created

  463. equal? What does created equal mean?

  464. We're not all equal. I mean, we're not

  465. all equally handsome or tall or wealthy

  466. or have equal life expenses. Everybody's

  467. different. What way are we equal?

  468. We're equal under the law. The concept

  469. is that if it's if the same law should

  470. apply to everyone, not the favor, your

  471. favorite doesn't get treated different

  472. than the one that you don't like. You

  473. don't you're not supposed to treat if

  474. you're a judge. Well, if you're a judge

  475. and you have a relative before you, you

  476. were supposed to not sit on that case.

  477. But but even if you didn't know

  478. somebody, not to favor people on the

  479. basis of the color of skin, how wealthy

  480. they are, or how poor they are.

  481. Sometimes it goes the other way. Some

  482. people favor the poor. They go, "Oh, I

  483. feel so bad for them." And so they give

  484. them a sentence because we're poor.

  485. Look, this last couple years, we've had

  486. stabbings and different things that

  487. happened by somebody that had been in

  488. prison many times and been let off the

  489. hook. It's like, what's going on here?

  490. This is an obvious

  491. criminal. Why are they being led out to

  492. stab people? Well, we have justice. When

  493. you don't have god-fearing people

  494. filling the positions of power in the

  495. land, then they're going to show

  496. favoritism.

  497. There's going to be a system of bribery.

  498. There's going to be wealthy corporations

  499. to get government contracts. You're

  500. going to have a large industrial

  501. military complex, like I talked about

  502. last week, uh, forcing, trying to buy

  503. their way into war so they can make more

  504. profits. This is why Christians must be

  505. involved in government

  506. because we need God-fearing people that

  507. hate covetousness that that that fear

  508. God that hate covetousness and

  509. understand where rights come from and

  510. morality comes from because if we vacate

  511. those positions then the ungodly fulfill

  512. them and and that doesn't mean everybody

  513. who calls himself a Christian is not at

  514. all. They need to be wise and

  515. understanding and they truly fear God.

  516. We need God.

  517. We don't I don't I don't think we have

  518. the people to fill those offices right

  519. now. But, you know, I'm looking out at

  520. young families and um I I think that we

  521. have to look way off into the future. We

  522. have to look into the coming

  523. generations. We need to be raising up

  524. children that are fit to be

  525. that are fit to be rulers, that are

  526. wise, that understand God's word, that

  527. fear God, that hate coe that honest. It

  528. will not take a bride. We need to

  529. produce that kind of person. As you're

  530. raising up your your child, you don't

  531. know what God's future is for them. You

  532. don't know what what God has for them or

  533. what their gifting and proclivity will

  534. be. But when it comes to integrity, you

  535. should say, "I'm raising up my son, my

  536. daughter to be fit to to handle this

  537. republic, fit to rule, because we need

  538. people that will not pervert justice,

  539. that will not on the basis of the color,

  540. skin or or whether a foreigner or native

  541. born. It should be one law for everybody

  542. and that's why they must not be um able

  543. to be

  544. everyone to be under law.

  545. Now I I wonder what this Deuteronomy 16

  546. because the next chapter chapter 17 I'm

  547. skipping some verses that talk about

  548. other issues but right away after it

  549. talks about the the judges and officers

  550. it talks about the executive branch

  551. oh I skipped something else the

  552. importance of of reasonable this is

  553. another principle of law that that we

  554. have from the scriptures it

  555. All right, I'm skip that.

  556. 178

  557. kind of a tier judiciary. We still got a

  558. little bit Deuteronomy one talks about

  559. how rulers of tens and hundreds and

  560. thousands and a case was too hard it

  561. would go right on up to the Supreme

  562. Court. So in verse 8

  563. requiring decision between one kind of

  564. homicide another one kind of another or

  565. one kind of assault another case within

  566. your town that is too difficult for you.

  567. Then you shall arise and go up to the

  568. place that the Lord your God will choose

  569. and you shall come to the priests and to

  570. the judge who is in office in those days

  571. and you shall consult them and they

  572. shall declare to you the decision. Then

  573. you shall do according to what they

  574. declare to you from that place that the

  575. Lord will choose and you shall be

  576. careful to do all that they direct you.

  577. Now, as time went on that this at the

  578. beginning here, it was a judge and it

  579. was the priest

  580. because the priest was reading God's law

  581. constantly and knew God's law and could

  582. advise people on difficult cases because

  583. their job was to constantly be reading

  584. God's law. So, they became expert in the

  585. law. Later on, they would have appointed

  586. which became corrupt and ended up

  587. drawing

  588. falsely falsely putting them to death.

  589. But they had seven people on the Supreme

  590. Court who uh were were at the very top

  591. of of the court system. If it was too

  592. hard, the case was too hard, it would go

  593. up to the Supreme Court. I don't know

  594. what the appeals process was, but they

  595. did have a Supreme Court when things

  596. were not straightforward, it could go up

  597. to them. And I think this may have may

  598. have influenced our our founders. All

  599. right. Verse 11. According to the

  600. instructions they give you and according

  601. to the decision which they pronounce to

  602. you, you shall do. You shall not turn

  603. aside from the verdict that they declare

  604. to you, either to the right hand or to

  605. the left. The man who acts

  606. presumptuously by not obeying the priest

  607. who stands to minister there before the

  608. Lord your God or the judge, that man

  609. shall die. So you shall pour the evil

  610. from Israel, and all the people shall

  611. hear and fear and not act presumptuously

  612. again. I I see here a principle the rule

  613. of law kind of thing and once all people

  614. say why can't we just have somebody get

  615. their tights and put on and go around

  616. and justice themselves well that leads

  617. to chaos we can't have vigan justice you

  618. need you need to have the rule of law

  619. and so if anybody rejected the rule of

  620. law they were to be put together you

  621. know it takes more than a pair of tights

  622. it takes biblical wisdom and so God God

  623. wanted um God had at the top uh the

  624. instructions of the judge and the police

  625. was to be obeyed. It was to be done in a

  626. lawful and orderly way. This is to keep

  627. chaos from ensuring nations that don't

  628. have a wellestablished justice system.

  629. Justice is just handled by whoever wants

  630. to take it upon themselves. It leads to

  631. chaos. It leads to

  632. a lot of parts of the world today where

  633. wars will go around and they they kill

  634. whoever they choose because it's not

  635. done under the rule of law. Now this is

  636. the one the executive branch

  637. the executive branch originally didn't

  638. exist. It was just a republic but God

  639. knew eventually they were going to have

  640. an executive.

  641. So in 17:14 down when you come to the

  642. land that the Lord your God has given

  643. you

  644. and you possess it and dwell in it and

  645. then say I will set a king over me like

  646. all the nations that are around me. You

  647. may indeed set a king over you whom the

  648. Lord your God will one from among your

  649. brothers. You shall set his king over

  650. you. You may not put a foreigner over

  651. you who is not your brother. So first

  652. thing that's important here is she says

  653. it needs to be someone from among your

  654. brothers naturalborn citizen somebody

  655. who is a a a citizen of Israel who has a

  656. history has a vested interest in your

  657. country at the time of of Christ there

  658. was an Edomite Herod was sitting on the

  659. throne of Israel and Israel was under

  660. the tower of Rome because of the

  661. disobedience God put them under foreign

  662. power. But God said when you set a king

  663. over you, he should be from among your

  664. having your value and ethical system. I

  665. um

  666. this is this is something that you know

  667. be interesting what'll happen in the

  668. next election. There's already

  669. candidates a lot of people are looking

  670. at that aren't actually citizens. Maybe

  671. we'll hear about it later. But the idea

  672. being here is you want people and the

  673. best interest in your country because we

  674. don't want to be like all the other

  675. nations of the world.

  676. It's I remember years ago reading the

  677. the Supreme Court decision for Roie Wing

  678. through that decision and as I'm reading

  679. the legal reasoning they they couldn't

  680. find any justification the constitution

  681. for abortion they said the numbers of

  682. the constitution

  683. and the shadowy it's not actually there

  684. but we kind of can visualize it there.

  685. But it was interesting to to read the

  686. judge quoting the ancient Greeks, the

  687. ancient Roman, quoting European court,

  688. not American court, not American

  689. founding documents, but foreign

  690. governments, other gods, other belief

  691. systems in order to justify the

  692. murdering of a preborn child because you

  693. can't constitutionally

  694. validate murdering preborn children and

  695. you definitely typically validate

  696. murdering pre-born children because the

  697. first inhalerable right is the right

  698. they look elsewhere they look to foreign

  699. courts and foreign governments

  700. in even ancient history and that's why

  701. one of the reason why God did not want

  702. them putting a foreigner under or as

  703. king because they didn't have the same

  704. ethical system

  705. you're one from among your brethren. He

  706. had to be a naturalb born family member

  707. in Israel. All right. Now talking about

  708. the king says only he must only he must

  709. not acquire many worship for himself or

  710. cause the people to return to Egypt and

  711. to acquire in order to acquire many

  712. worship since the Lord has said to you

  713. shall never return that way again. and

  714. he shall not acquire wise for himself,

  715. let his heart come away, nor shall he

  716. acquire for himself excessive silver and

  717. gold. So here went with this word

  718. acquire. I like King James and I looked

  719. it up in Hebrews 2. I like King James

  720. better than this. I want to read it

  721. again from King James. Instead of

  722. acquire the word multiply. Let me read

  723. again. Thou shalt set him king over you

  724. over thee, whom the Lord your God shall

  725. choose. One from among your brethren,

  726. thou shalt set over thee. Thou may not

  727. set a stranger over thee, which is not

  728. thy brother, that he shall not multiply

  729. horses to himself, nor cause the people

  730. returned to Egypt to the end that he

  731. should multiply horses. For as much as

  732. the Lord said unto you, you shall

  733. henceforth return no more that way.

  734. Neither shall multiply wives to himself

  735. that his heart turn away greatly

  736. multiply to himself silver gold. So you

  737. don't multiply chiefly three things.

  738. You're not to multiply horses. You're

  739. not to multiply wine. And you're not to

  740. multiply silver and gold. Why? Why not

  741. multiply horses? Well, horses were

  742. for points,

  743. for offensive warfare, for conquering

  744. people. God did not want his people to

  745. be the policemen of the world. He didn't

  746. want Israel to be engaged in offensive

  747. warfare. Now, when they were attacked,

  748. they were to be brutal against the

  749. people that attacked them. They were

  750. given conditions, conditions of them. If

  751. they didn't do it, they would they would

  752. wipe out the men. They they uh but if

  753. they didn't if they didn't submit to

  754. then they would be put under tribute.

  755. But God didn't want them to go out and

  756. try to conquer a bunch of people. They

  757. were a peaceful people. If they were

  758. attacked, they were to fight back. But

  759. they were not to be like the Assyians

  760. and the Babylonians and the and the

  761. Greeks who went out to conquer so that

  762. they could liquidate people's assets and

  763. fortunes and spread it amongst

  764. themselves. God didn't want to be a

  765. murderous nation. See, this is one of

  766. the ideas of rule of law. It's wrong for

  767. you as an indiv individual to murder.

  768. Guess what? It's also wrong for the

  769. collector, for the government to murder.

  770. The same law applies whether you're a

  771. king or an individual. It's wrong to

  772. murder. You don't. It's wrong to steal.

  773. It's wrong for you and I to steal. It's

  774. wrong for the king to steal. It's wrong

  775. for the government to steal. That is

  776. wrong not just for individuals, but for

  777. families, for street guns, for the local

  778. city council, and for the the president

  779. or anybody else. Theft is wrong. Murder

  780. is wrong. And therefore, God didn't want

  781. them to be the people that goes out and

  782. murders people and steals their

  783. multiply

  784. welf

  785. about an unsatisfied appetite. It's not.

  786. It was about treaty and covenants with

  787. four nations. Every time a king made a

  788. treaty with another nation, we'll read

  789. about I might read about a little bit

  790. with Solomon. Solomon made all married

  791. all these foreign wives. What is he

  792. doing? He's making other

  793. family now and we'll do business

  794. together. You won't go to war with me

  795. because I'm family and I won't go to war

  796. with you because you're And so by

  797. marrying all these wives, the Solomon

  798. was making treaties with foreign power.

  799. So there's a danger here not just in the

  800. king marrying many wives and the

  801. polygamous nature of it which everywhere

  802. we read about polygamy in the scripture

  803. something bad is happening and we see

  804. the strife and the problems that go with

  805. with a non you know non- monogous

  806. marriage.

  807. We read about Abraham's multiple wives

  808. led to trouble. Jacob's multiple wives

  809. led to trouble. David's multiple wives

  810. led to trouble. Esau's multiple wives

  811. led to trouble. Solomon's multiple wives

  812. to trouble. We have a lot of pages of

  813. scripture showing us that polygamy is a

  814. really really bad idea. And Jesus says

  815. that from the beginning it wasn't. So he

  816. made the male and female shall become

  817. one flesh. But aside from the the

  818. corruption, the the adulterous nature of

  819. of polygamy, um the the many foreign

  820. trees would become a snail. Just like

  821. foreign trees become climate, we make

  822. foreign trees like World War I. I

  823. remember learning about in high school.

  824. The reason we got in World War I is all

  825. all of Europe had foreign treaties with

  826. each other. So that when one went to

  827. war, they said, "Well, now we got to go

  828. to work. we are shooting with these

  829. people. Your problem becomes our

  830. problem. Our founders of America, they

  831. didn't want that. They they they adise

  832. against

  833. let they'll do their thing in times of

  834. peace. We'll be friends. We'll do

  835. business and in times of love we'll be

  836. your enemies. But but really we want to

  837. mind our own business. We want to be

  838. engaged in the big conflict. Europe has

  839. been at war for for a thousand years. We

  840. don't want to be engaged in that. But

  841. time Wilson came along,

  842. uh, we had, uh, all kinds of trees for

  843. four nations and we were drugged dragged

  844. into World War I, which then led to

  845. World War II and and now we're we're in

  846. making deals and break them. I don't

  847. know why any nation would honestly want

  848. to make a treaty with America because

  849. now we just break them all the time

  850. to be

  851. yeah

  852. and then uh you can have liberty here

  853. and everything's going to be great and

  854. then we end up leaving. So we get

  855. engaged in things

  856. and people get slaughtered

  857. not our businesses to begin with. God

  858. didn't want his people

  859. going and

  860. kindled with Moabites and Philistines

  861. and Ammonites and Egypt. He didn't want

  862. him doing that. He wanted him to have uh

  863. employee

  864. yourself. But that's the idea behind

  865. don't multiply or don't multiply wide is

  866. so that you're not um engaging in all

  867. these people.

  868. You know, I'll say another thing about

  869. war

  870. on it again. War often times kills the

  871. brightest and best of the

  872. brave intelligent people become officers

  873. and he's the first person you're going

  874. to shoot.

  875. Your greatest resource is your young

  876. people. It's not about the money. And

  877. it's just it's a it's a tragedy. I think

  878. and I I actually listened to something

  879. not long ago

  880. sent me

  881. how Europe has been in all these foreign

  882. wars and uh their patent levels have

  883. dropped down since World War II. Yeah.

  884. The fact is dying on the battlefield.

  885. It's a consequence. War is war is when

  886. it's justified one side is right.

  887. our side both both sides are wrong and

  888. it's murdered. So we need to think very

  889. greatly before we rush into war. And

  890. then he says greatly multiplied to

  891. himself silver and gold. What's that?

  892. That's talking about taxation, big

  893. government, a government that says, "We

  894. can save you. We can solve your

  895. problems. Look to us." I would rather

  896. have uh strong families living in nice

  897. houses than weak families and big

  898. government,

  899. right? I I would rather all of you have

  900. nice air conditioned houses with plenty

  901. of space for the kids to play than a big

  902. pyramid in the middle of St. Louis.

  903. on the horizon

  904. and and God would ra that for his

  905. people. But when the government when the

  906. when it says that he shall not greatly

  907. multiply silver and gold, this is this

  908. is talking about oppressive tyrannical

  909. temptation.

  910. When the people want the government to

  911. save them, they say, "Oh, give us free

  912. stuff." What are you asking for? You're

  913. asking the government to use their sword

  914. to somebody else to give to you.

  915. We have it because that's what the

  916. American people want. Now, our

  917. constitution was supposed to protect us

  918. from that. But when people to take the

  919. Lord, to take his word, um then you're

  920. going to end up with tyranny. That's the

  921. way it works. There's a um

  922. a quote

  923. to read earlier by John Adams. Our

  924. constitution was made only for a moral

  925. and religious people. It is wholly

  926. inadequate to the government of any

  927. other

  928. moral and religious people. Why? Because

  929. people are

  930. envious and they're greedy and they want

  931. what they didn't work for.

  932. And and I'm not just trying to pick upon

  933. the poor that maybe wants to services,

  934. but there's also the other side. There's

  935. the very wealthy that we use their

  936. wealth to bribe the politicians to get

  937. what they want. So the point isn't to

  938. take on the rich or the poor. We're 1%

  939. either direction. The point is that if

  940. you don't have a godly nation that fears

  941. God, that looks to our father who is in

  942. heaven to give us our daily life. When

  943. we lose sight of that, when people start

  944. wanting the government to be their

  945. savior, the provider gives education of

  946. everything, then you're asking the

  947. government to effectively die and that

  948. is going to lead into

  949. a consequence of it. Okay? So, they're

  950. not to multiply horses. They're not to

  951. multiply w to multiply gold and silver.

  952. Look at this in verse 18.

  953. the king said from the throne of his

  954. kingdom he shall write for himself a

  955. book a copy of this law approved by the

  956. priest and it shall be with him and he

  957. shall read it all the days of his life

  958. that he may learn to fear Yahweh is God

  959. by keeping all the words of this law and

  960. these statutes and doing them that his

  961. heart may not be lifted up above his

  962. brother and that he may not from the

  963. commandment either to the right hand or

  964. to the left so that he may continue long

  965. in his kingdom and his children in

  966. Israel. So it's interesting he wasn't to

  967. go out and buy a copy. He was to write a

  968. copy and he had to have it approved by

  969. somebody other than himself.

  970. So this wasn't just for his personal

  971. devotion. He has the king has to write

  972. out a copy of the law which means what

  973. he need to be able to read and write.

  974. I'm going to be able to read like in

  975. ancient Israel. The king should be able

  976. to read and write. And then he would

  977. take it to the priest and the priest

  978. would say spelling error. Start over.

  979. Grammar error. You messed up in your

  980. copy of Deuteronomy.

  981. And and he would write and in the

  982. writing of it, if you've ever written

  983. scripture, you you start noticing

  984. details that when you just read it, you

  985. flip over. He was to read it and he was

  986. to meditate in it.

  987. that this is the constitution.

  988. The constitution of Israel was the

  989. Torah.

  990. So he says, you're bound by it. There's

  991. a time when David is having the ark of

  992. the covenant brought into Jerusalem. And

  993. the Philistines had the ark of the

  994. covenant for a little while in early.

  995. And so they they put the they put the

  996. arc of the covenant on a cart and they

  997. they they tied the cart to um some

  998. somewhat

  999. and uh contrary to the nature of these

1000. cows, these cows left their calves and

1001. carried the ark of the government into

1002. the borders of Israel. And they knew

1003. that was God doing it because a cow

1004. wouldn't leave their cows to carry an

  1005. array

1006. with the cow. So they knew it was the

1007. hand of God. So anyway, the cart is

1008. there for many years. Eventually David

1009. wants to bring the ark of covenant into

1010. Jerusalem. So I thought, you know, let's

1011. do it's very efficient. Let's just put

1012. it on a cart like the Philistines. Let's

1013. do what the world did. The world does

1014. it. They got away with it. The

1015. Philistines could put the ar of on a

1016. card. But God didn't ordain for the ark

1017. to be carried on a card. It had holes in

1018. the side of it that poles could be as a

1019. priest in the front and a priest in the

  1020. back carrying the cart.

1021. Now, if the king had read the book of

1022. law, he would know that.

1023. And so, the cart is traveling along the

1024. road and it gets unsteady and it starts

1025. to fall over and a man named reaches out

1026. to study the ark because he doesn't want

1027. the ark to fall on the ground.

1028. said he thought his hands were more holy

1029. than the ground he was walking on. So

1030. God stuck him dead. And the point of all

1031. that, one of the points driven home is

1032. is David David was very upset about it,

1033. but he went and he read the law that the

1034. ark was not to be carried on. It was

1035. holy to be carried by the priest. So the

1036. the king was being told that day, you're

  1037. supposed to know God's law. You're

1038. supposed to know the constitution. This

1039. is the constitution that the Hebrew king

  1040. swears to uphold.

  1041. That that's a very important thing. I've

1042. been told that when Trump was in office,

1043. he was used to swear put his hand on the

  1044. Bible and swear

  1045. like every president

1046. that George Washington was the one that

1047. didn't say that they have to put their

1048. hand on the Bible, but George Washington

1049. put his on the Bible and and uh and

1050. swore to uphold the constitution. Well,

1051. if if we were to actually keep the

1052. constitution, our country will look very

  1053. different.

1054. But I I suspect that many people who are

1055. ruling over us, not serving us, but

1056. ruling over us, never even read the

1057. but the Israelite king was to make a

1058. copy of it and he was to read it. all

1059. the days of his life. It was to be

1060. perpetual study. He was to be studying

1061. the books of the law to know him

1062. frontwards and backwards. So he could be

1063. a wise decision maker that feared God

1064. and he knew exactly what was because God

1065. was letting him know you are under this

1066. law. And because he was under this law,

1067. he was not to be lifted up above his

1068. brethren. So look at what it says. Says,

1069. I'll read again verse 19. And it shall

1070. be with them, and you shall read it all

1071. the days of his life, that he may learn

1072. to fear Yahweh Elohim by keeping all the

1073. words of his law, and doing them, that

1074. his heart may not be lifted up above his

1075. brother, and that he may not turn aside

1076. from the commandment either to the right

1077. or to the left, so that he may continue

1078. long in his kingdom, he and his children

1079. in Israel. His heart was not to be

1080. lifted upon his brother. Other He's a

  1081. civil servant.

  1082. He's not He's not He doesn't have a

  1083. divine right. He's a civil servant. He's

  1084. under God.

1085. The two most popular books in 1776

1086. country heard Joe say this was a book

  1087. called China

1088. and the other book right

1089. the title Rex means the law is king. Not

1090. the king is law, but the law is king.

1091. And here's a very important concept that

1092. the king, like the rest of us, is under

1093. law. It's wrong for you and I to murder

1094. and steal. It's wrong for him to murder

1095. and steal. The same law. It's wrong for

1096. us to commit adultery and to cheat and

1097. to lie, and it's wrong for the civil

1098. magistrates to lie. This is a concept of

1099. constitutionalism that the rule of law

  1100. applies to everybody.

1101. You know, I I I think there was lots of

1102. evidence that Fouchy should have been

1103. tried for murder. My my opinion, not

1104. knowing all that, not having the case,

1105. but that's my opinion. I think the man

1106. should have been, from what I what I

1107. gather, let's let me be terrible. It

1108. seems highly probable to me. He should

1109. have been prosecuted. Apparently, he's

  1110. not under law.

  1111. Apparently not.

1112. And and this is a violation of ethics.

  1113. It's a violation of

1114. It's a violation of concept of rule of

1115. law. Nobody whether private or it should

  1116. be above the law.

1117. We we had mixed for much less offenses

1118. than many of the things that have gone

1119. on in the decades since

1120. we've lost sight of the concept of the

1121. real law that the law is. You don't get

1122. to do special things because you're

  1123. somebody's son or somebody's daddy.

1124. One law for everybody. The heart of the

1125. king is not to be lifted up above his

1126. people. This is a biblical concept.

1127. They're not to take bribes. They're not

1128. to pervert justice. They're not to

1129. respect the rich or the poor and

1130. judgment. It's to be one law for

1131. everybody. And the rule of law is to

1132. govern. So what kind of people would

  1133. other than a godfearing

1134. an honest a high trust society based

1135. upon the fear of the Lord? I believe

1136. this is why Adam warned us that

1137. only for a moral and religious only for

1138. a people that talks with selfgovernment.

1139. If you're the kind of person that if you

1140. can get away with it, you'll do it.

1141. You're not fit to be in a republic,

  1142. not a constitutional republic

1143. because when people don't practice self

  1144. and the chaos

  1145. leads to an outsg,

1146. the bigger the government. The bigger

1147. the government, the more The more taxes,

1148. the less money you have for your family,

1149. the less money you have to invest, the

1150. less money you have to to have in the

1151. godly over the god over the earth. It's

  1152. a byproduct.

  1153. It's a byproduct. A byproduct

  1154. of

1155. all right. Now what ends up happening

  1156. with Israel

1157. later on they live under republic for

1158. 500 years but they don't you read the

1159. book of judges the theme in the book of

1160. judges there was no king in Israel but

1161. every man did what was right

1162. everybody had their own little moral

1163. compass and they did what they thought

1164. and it led to chaos judges lots of

  1165. with the judges

1166. like the wild cutting up concubines and

1167. all over the body parts all over the

  1168. place and wild stuff.

  1169. Why is that? Because

  1170. every manuel

1171. was the last of the judges of Israel.

1172. And Samuel was the end of the period of

  1173. judges and the

1174. He was a prophet. I want read a little

  1175. bit from firstap.

1176. The name of his firstborn son was the

1177. name of his second. They were judges.

1178. Yet his sons did not walk in his will to

  1179. come after

1180. justice. Then all the elders of Israel

1181. gathered together and came to stand at

1182. Rama and said to him, "Behold, you are

1183. old and your sons do not walk in your

1184. way. Now appoint us a king to judge us

  1185. like Paul."

  1186. So there's a lack of self-government in

1187. the existing system. This leads to chaos

1188. and corruption and that leads to the

1189. people saying we need to change. We need

1190. a revolution. We need something right.

1191. It was a failure of self-government and

1192. it was a failure of the judges to be

1193. ethical people that led to the people

1194. say give us a king

1195. like all the other nations.

1196. We want to be like all the other

1197. nations. We want to be like Europe.

1198. We want to be we want to be like France.

1199. You want to be like this?

1200. What? Why would you want to be like

  1201. those countries?

  1202. Visit Europe.

1203. Live there for years. But my wife and

1204. they live in tiny houses. They drive

  1205. tiny cars. They have

  1206. not near the

1207. why why are we want to emulate Europe

1208. that's grown so much in the last 250

1209. years so greatly. Why would we want

1210. other countries and model ourselves

  1211. after them.

1212. Everybody has free healthare. I've been

  1213. I've

  1214. not great

1215. European hospital. Not that great.

1216. The thing when they said, "Give us a

1217. king to judge us." Samuel prayed to the

1218. Lord. The Lord said, "Obey the voice of

1219. the people and all that they say to you.

1220. not rejected you, but they have rejected

1221. me from being king over them. According

1222. to all the deeds that they have done

1223. from the day I brought them out of the

1224. land of Egypt, even to this day,

1225. forsaken me and serve another god, for

1226. they are also doing to you. Now then,

1227. obey their voice, only you shall warn

1228. them and show them the ways of the king

1229. who shine over them. So God God has

  1230. Samuel warn them.

1231. They haven't rejected you. They actually

1232. rejected about 500 years. They keep they

1233. want to be like all the nations around

1234. them. They want to be like the world. By

1235. the way, this is something we should say

1236. to our children. When our children like

1237. all the other kids do

1238. everybody else gets to do this, yeah,

1239. why do you want to be like all the other

  1240. nations?

1241. Why do you want to do you're not you're

1242. my son, you're my daughter. I'm not

  1243. you're this isn't about sanitization. We

1244. serve the Lord. We don't do those

  1245. things.

1246. But Israel was constantly wanting to be

  1247. like pagan and they

1248. said okay fine do it but tell them what

1249. kind of tell them what type of king

1250. we're going to end up having. So Samuel

1251. told all the words of the Lord to the

1252. people who were asking for a king he

1253. said these will be the ways of the king

1254. who will reign over you. take your sons

1255. and appoint them to chariot and to be

1256. his horse and to run before chariot.

1257. It's going to be a draft. Now, in God's

1258. law, it's obeyed a draft. But then it

1259. says there will be a draft. And God's

1260. law, God said if anybody is a part, if

1261. they just planted a vineyard, if they

1262. just got married, if for any reason

1263. somebody doesn't want to show up in the

1264. battle, they could leave. They did not

1265. have to serve. But but what I'm saying

1266. is, you know what you're looking for?

1267. wanted the government to to be your

  1268. provider.

1269. If you if you're gonna if you want him

1270. to be your ultimate protector, he's

1271. going to have the power to take your

1272. children and and pick them in further.

  1273. That's what's going to happen. Lord

1274. permit them. He said, "This is what

  1275. you're going to conduct."

1276. And verse four says, "And he will

1277. appoint for himself commanders of

1278. thousands, commanders of 50, and some to

1279. plow his ground and to reap his harvest

1280. and to make instruments of war and

1281. equipment of his chariot. He will take

  1282. your daughters to be

1283. and cooks and bakers. He will take the

1284. best of your fields and vineyards and

1285. otes and give them to the he of yours

1286. and of your vineyards. He will give it

1287. to his officers and to your servants. He

1288. will take your male servants, the female

1289. servants and the young men and your

1290. donkeys and put them to work. Now, these

1291. things are things that God

1292. will take vineyard and he will be

1293. condemned for it. God's not saying this

  1294. is lawful. He's saying you're really a

1295. like all the other nations. This is

1296. what's going to end up happening.

1297. He will take a tenth of your flock and

1298. you shall be a slave. And in that day,

1299. you will cry out because of your king

1300. and you have chosen for yourselves. But

1301. the Lord will not answer you in that

1302. day. The people refused to obey the

1303. voice of Samuel. And they said, "No,

1304. that they shall be a king over us, that

1305. we also may be like all the nations, and

1306. that our king may judge us and go out

1307. before us and fight our battle." And

1308. when Samuel had heard all the words of

1309. the people, he repeated them in the

1310. years of the Lord. And the Lord said to

1311. Samuel, "Obey their voice and make them

1312. a king and go every city." Now, what

1313. this illustrates is like, "Oh, remember

1314. George W. Bush saying that he believed

1315. that the heart of all human beings

1316. and on that would become a democracy and

  1317. self.

1318. But if you read the scriptures actually

1319. people prefer the security of slavery to

  1320. liberty because liberty takes

1321. it takes the will of God in the hearts

1322. of men. People want security. Israel

  1323. traded their liberty for

1324. They wanted they wanted a government

1325. that would provide for them that would

1326. take care of them. And and as a result

1327. when when your desire is for the

1328. government to be your savior then you

1329. then the government will end up being

1330. your lord and dictator that that is what

1331. will happen. That is why only a

1332. self-governing godly people are fit to

1333. live in a constitutional republic.

1334. If we're not a godly people, people

1335. going to look for the government. The

1336. government's going to become retirement

1337. and it's going to take what you have.

  1338. That's the pattern. It's only for a

1339. moral and religious people, his holy

1340. others. I was going to read to you about

1341. the fall of Solomon. I won't read that.

1342. It's a whole another thing to go into.

1343. But very interesting that everything

  1344. that God told

1345. uh told them they came to do, not to

1346. multiply gold, not to multiply, not

1347. If you read 10, it will discuss every

1348. single one of those multipol

1349. that's what would be happen.

  1350. So without self-government,

  1351. without self-government,

  1352. liberty cannot.

1353. And if Christians aren't involved and

  1354. not just Christians only

  1355. so far

1356. a little beat up in some

  1357. very

1358. cannot long not what we have can't long

1359. have it or what we have we've all we

1360. don't even know how much we've lost here

1361. you know my my father was born in 1925

1362. to hear him took place in his life

1363. since 2010 but um but without

  1364. reformation without righteousness but

1365. the spirit of the word

1366. liberty. But if you reject the word of

  1367. liberty, you will

  1368. need national

1369. from the top to the bottom. We need

1370. the nations of all the earth

  1371. and

1372. father we thank you God. We thank you

1373. Lord for the blessings that we still

  1374. enjoy.

1375. I thank you, Father, that our family

  1376. homeschool.

1377. We're still able to assemble.

1378. We still have relative freedom of

  1379. express

  1380. ourselves.

1381. But Lord, we know God that liberty

  1382. cannot be long

  1383. a

1384. America are the comes from the root of

1385. Christ. But the best that we have are

1386. things that come from you. Apart from

1387. you, we have no good.

1388. Thank you, Jesus, for the blessings.

1389. God, I pray for our nation that you

1390. would lead us to repentance, that you

1391. would send an awakening, you would send

1392. a revival that that not not just an

1393. emotional revival, but Lord, you would

1394. restore your people to the word that

  1395. your people

1396. Read your word and be careful like the

1397. king must be careful to read and do your

1398. law. I pray your people will become
