  1. Friends, would you please be seated?

  2. Again, I just want to welcome you.

  3. My name is Hillary, if we haven't met.

  4. And I would love to meet you downstairs.

  5. ! Lisa and I will be down there after the service.

  6. We'll have coffee.

  7. If you're new, we'd love to meet you.

  8. Our head pastor, Pastor Thomas, is away for a couple weeks.

  9. And I checked in with him last night.

  10. And he's doing great.

  11. He's feeling really refreshed.

  12. And he's praying for us.

  13. And sends his greetings and his prayers.

  14. So these last couple weeks, we've been looking at chapter 13 of Matthew's gospel.

  15. Which is a collection of several parables.

  16. And all of these parables are coming in response to this question of why are people rejecting Jesus' message?

  17. Even John the Baptist, Jesus' forerunner.

  18. And the one who baptized him, probably one of Jesus' best friends, asked Jesus,

  19. Are you the one who is to come?

  20. Or should we expect somebody else?

  21. And John's question is one that most people were probably asking.

  22. And it reveals the simple fact that the kingdom of heaven and Jesus as the Messiah were not what people expected.

  23. So after the Sermon on the Mount, after all these healings and exorcisms that Matthew's been talking about,

  24. Jesus tries another way.

  25. He tells stories.

  26. I was talking to a friend this week who said,

  27. Whenever I want my kids to pay attention to me, I start by saying, once upon a time.

  28. And they immediately, they clue in.

  29. Because we love stories.

  30. And Jesus uses a similar phrase with each of these parables.

  31. Designed to get people to lock in and pay attention.

  32. He says, the kingdom of heaven is like.

  33. So again, this idea of the kingdom of heaven to Jesus' listeners,

  34. People would have been like, oh, tell me what it's like.

  35. They want to know.

  36. So this morning, we're going to dig into that question.

  37. What's the kingdom of heaven like?

  38. We'll look at it in two parts.

  39. First, what does this parable tell us about the kingdom of heaven?

  40. And second, what does it mean for us?

  41. Let's pray.

  42. Lord, thank you for your great love and your mercy.

  43. That you have lavished on us.

  44. That is more than we can possibly imagine.

  45. So Lord, from that place of being rooted in your love,

  46. Would we have ears to hear and eyes to see?

  47. Would we listen well to you this morning?

  48. Thank you for your word.

  49. Would you nourish us with it?

  50. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  51. Amen.

  52. First, what does this parable tell us about the kingdom of heaven?

  53. So let's take a look at how Jesus' original audience

  54. Would have understood this parable.

  55. Or heard this parable.

  56. Like all of Jesus' parables,

  57. This agrarian scene was something immediately compelling

  58. And relatable to Jesus' listeners.

  59. He always used these commonplace things

  60. That people were really familiar with.

  61. But even though these things were really common,

  62. Even though people were used to,

  63. They would immediately be able to have a visual image

  64. When he was talking about these things.

  65. Jesus also chose language that signaled

  66. Spiritually significant realities

  67. To his Jewish audience.

  68. And that would have kind of served as a signpost

  69. To say, hey, there's something else going on here.

  70. Pause and think about this.

  71. So the choice of seed, of a sower, of an enemy,

  72. A harvest.

  73. These were also spiritually significant realities.

  74. So we'll start by looking at these things,

  75. At these figures in this parable,

  76. Along with Jesus' explanation to the disciples.

  77. First, the sower goes out

  78. And he sows good seed in his field.

  79. Jesus clearly identifies himself

  80. As the sower in this parable.

  81. But he uses this language with his disciples

  82. Of the son of man.

  83. And that would have triggered something

  84. For his disciples.

  85. Because it points directly to Daniel 7, 13 and 14.

  86. Where the prophet Daniel writes,

  87. In my vision at night,

  88. I looked.

  89. And there before me was one like a son of man.

  90. Coming with the clouds of heaven.

  91. He goes on to describe the son of man

  92. As being given all authority,

  93. Glory,

  94. And sovereign power.

  95. All nations and peoples of every language

  96. Worshipped him.

  97. His dominion is an everlasting dominion

  98. That will not pass away.

  99. And his kingdom is one

  100. That will never be destroyed.

  101. So Jesus calling himself

  102. The son of man

  103. Is very significant.

  104. He's telling us

  105. The kingdom that he's inaugurating

  106. Is the same kingdom

  107. That Daniel describes in his prophecy.

  108. Secondly, the field.

  109. Jesus' field is the world.

  110. Now this was small

  111. When Jesus was ministering.

  112. The size about the size of New Jersey.

  113. Not very big.

  114. But it expanded.

  115. Especially at the end of Matthew's gospel.

  116. He told his followers to go out

  117. And preach the gospel

  118. To all nations.

  119. And again,

  120. Jesus is setting up his sovereignty

  121. And his rule.

  122. He's saying,

  123. The kingdom of heaven is my kingdom.

  124. Third, the sower sows good seed.

  125. This image of seed in the Bible

  126. Stands for the word of God.

  127. And the word of God

  128. Can be different things.

  129. It can be the scriptures.

  130. The holy scriptures.

  131. It can be word that's spoken.

  132. But it can also be a person.

  133. Remember, it says in the book of John

  134. In John's prologue,

  135. John chapter 1

    John 1 chapter mention

  136. The word was with God.

  137. The word is Jesus.

  138. So when Jesus talks about this seed.

  139. Sowing this seed.

  140. He's bringing other people into this.

  141. People that have received

  142. And believed his message.

  143. Who are hearing and obeying.

  144. The parable of the sower

  145. Comes just before this one.

  146. It identifies these as people

  147. Who bear crops for the kingdom.

  148. But like a lot of Jesus' parables,

  149. There's a catch.

  150. There's something that's going to make us think.

  151. Probably multiple things.

  152. Hopefully multiple things.

  153. The enemy or the devil sows weeds.

  154. So this is definitely

  155. A very culturally specific thing.

  156. But the idea of an enemy

  157. Sowing weeds in someone's field

  158. Was not uncommon

  159. In this time period.

  160. And we don't know how often it happened.

  161. But we do know there were Roman laws

  162. That addressed what to do

  163. If this happens.

  164. Like what are the consequences?

  165. What are the repercussions?

  166. And it could have been a way

  167. If you sowed weeds

  168. In your neighbor's field

  169. It could have been a way

  170. To sabotage competition.

  171. To drive up prices.

  172. To get back at somebody.

  173. A dispute with your neighbor.

  174. Something like that.

  175. Well here with the enemy,

  176. The devil,

  177. It's all about sabotage.

  178. But it's really important

  179. To notice the order.

  180. The enemy comes after the good seed.

  181. And that's because

  182. All the enemy can do

  183. Is corrupt

  184. And manipulate

  185. And twist

  186. What is good.

  187. The enemy can't create.

  188. He's someone who entangles.

  189. Who destroys.

  190. Jesus says of him,

  191. The thief comes to steal

  192. And kill

  193. And destroy.

  194. I have come

  195. That they might have life.

  196. And have it to the full.

  197. And I also want to note here

  198. That in this parable

  199. There's not a confrontation

  200. Between the enemy

  201. And the sower

  202. Between the person

  203. That owns the field.

  204. And why is that?

  205. Because Satan and Jesus

  206. Are not inverses.

  207. Jesus is the one

  208. With all the authority.

  209. There's no competition.

  210. Satan does this

  211. Under cover of darkness.

  212. He has no power

  213. Compared to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  214. He's a defeated foe.

  215. And also notice

  216. That in this parable

  217. The enemy does not cause

  218. Any kind of lasting harm

  219. To the weed.

  220. So let's talk a little bit

  221. About the weeds

  222. That Jesus is mentioning.

  223. So he uses this word

  224. Darnell.

  225. And Darnell was a specific

  226. Type of weed

  227. That was kind of a wheat imposter.

  228. That's probably the best way

  229. To say it.

  230. It looked a lot like wheat.

  231. Especially in the early

  232. Stages of growth.

  233. And you really couldn't tell

  234. Until both plants

  235. Were pretty mature

  236. If you had Darnell

  237. Or wheat.

  238. And by that time

  239. The roots were enmeshed

  240. With one another.

  241. And so you couldn't harvest

  242. You couldn't start

  243. Pulling out the weeds

  244. Without potentially

  245. Harming the wheat.

  246. So you had to wait

  247. Until the harvest.

  248. And if you didn't know

  249. What you were doing

  250. You shouldn't try

  251. To separate them.

  252. And if you didn't

  253. Separate them

  254. You just harvest them

  255. All together

  256. Then the flower

  257. Would be contaminated.

  258. Because Darnell heads

  259. It's just like

  260. You know

  261. They're like wheat heads

  262. Darnell heads

  263. Are poisonous.

  264. So if you just say

  265. Like oh it's not

  266. That big a deal

  267. I'm just going to

  268. Mix it all together

  269. It could actually

  270. Really harm people.

  271. It could actually

  272. Cause blindness.

  273. But the point is

  274. It was possible

  275. To separate the good

  276. From the bad.

  277. To protect the wheat

  278. Even if there was Darnell.

  279. So when Jesus says

  280. These weeds are people

  281. Of the evil one.

  282. Maybe these are people

  283. Who are overtly evil.

  284. But they could also be people

  285. Who seem okay.

  286. Externally.

  287. Just like the Darnell

  288. Seems okay.

  289. At first.

  290. People who are religious.

  291. Religious.

  292. People who may have

  293. External trappings

  294. Of faith.

  295. Maybe they use

  296. Religious language.

  297. They do religious activities.

  298. But the big difference

  299. Is that they don't have

  300. An actual relationship

  301. With the living God.

  302. They have not been

  303. Transformed.

  304. These are people

  305. Who are sitting in darkness

  306. But who have the

  307. Appearance of light.

  308. And then lastly

  309. The harvest

  310. And the harvesters

  311. Or the angels.

  312. So again

  313. Like the son of man

  314. The sower and the seed

  315. These were words

  316. That triggered meaning

  317. For people embedded

  318. In Jewish scripture.

  319. Harvest is all over

  320. The Old Testament prophets

  321. As a sign of judgment.

  322. And angels were seen

  323. As carrying out

  324. God's divine purposes.

  325. They were his messengers

  326. And his agents.

  327. So now that we've been

  328. Through the figures

  329. In this parable

  330. Let's connect

  331. All these threads

  332. And see what they tell us

  333. About the kingdom of heaven.

  334. So first

  335. The kingdom of heaven

  336. Is everlasting.

  337. It's ruled by

  338. A sovereign

  339. Powerful ruler.

  340. Jesus is that ruler.

  341. He is

  342. The kingdom of heaven.

  343. Secondly

  344. The kingdom of heaven

  345. Comes in two parts.

  346. There's the inauguration.

  347. The planting of the seed.

  348. The inbreaking

  349. Of the kingdom

  350. That began

  351. With Jesus' incarnation.

  352. And that has already happened.

  353. But then there's

  354. The consummation

  355. Of the kingdom to come.

  356. The end of the age

  357. That he talks about.

  358. And here's a huge point

  359. In this parable.

  360. The inbreaking kingdom

  361. Exists in a world

  362. Inhabited by evil.

  363. And this was another twist.

  364. Something that Jesus

  365. Was trying to help

  366. His listeners understand.

  367. This combination

  368. Of the inbreaking kingdom

  369. And then the consummation

  370. Of the kingdom

  371. At the end of the age.

  372. Sometimes we call this

  373. The already

  374. But not yet.

  375. This wasn't something

  376. People expected to hear.

  377. They just expected

  378. The end of the age.

  379. Sort of a one and done scenario.

  380. They expected the kingdom

  381. Of heaven

  382. To be immediately pure.

  383. For evil to be obliterated.

  384. Peace to reign.

  385. And if that wasn't

  386. Immediately happening

  387. People were questioning.

  388. Well is this

  389. The kingdom of heaven?

  390. He says it is

  391. But it doesn't look

  392. Like we thought it would.

  393. And so that's why

  394. There was a lot of rejection

  395. Of Jesus' message happening.

  396. And Jesus is using

  397. This parable to say

  398. Hey that's gonna happen.

  399. It will eventually.

  400. But not yet.

  401. Now we don't have time

  402. To get into this fully.

  403. But I do want to

  404. Briefly touch

  405. On two main responses

  406. To God's judgment.

  407. Because it does come up

  408. In this parable.

  409. And it's a hard thing

  410. To hear.

  411. Especially read out loud.

  412. Right?

  413. They'll be burned.

  414. They'll be weeping

  415. And gnashing of teeth.

  416. That's an image

  417. That can evoke a lot of fear.

  418. And so let's just talk

  419. About it for a little bit.

  420. So here's the thing.

  421. For Jesus' listeners

  422. Most of whom were

  423. Under oppressive Roman rule.

  424. Divine judgment

  425. Was really good news.

  426. And I think that's true

  427. For anyone

  428. Who's been abused.

  429. Who's been traumatized.

  430. Treated unjustly.

  431. A victim.

  432. So imagine how

  433. A concentration camp survivor.

  434. Or someone whose entire family

  435. Has been killed in a genocide.

  436. Feels when they think

  437. About divine judgment.

  438. They're begging for it.

  439. Right?

  440. And there's another group

  441. Who feels really uncomfortable

  442. With this language.

  443. That hears the phrase

  444. About the weeds being burned

  445. And thinks

  446. How could God be loving?

  447. And banish someone forever?

  448. And whichever of these

  449. Two camps you tend towards

  450. I mean I think

  451. It's one of those things

  452. That we all kind of wrestle with.

  453. I want to suggest

  454. That this whole time

  455. Between the already

  456. And the not yet

  457. Is to give the weeds

  458. A chance

  459. To become wheat.

  460. To give those

  461. That the enemy

  462. Has corrupted by evil

  463. The chance to turn

  464. From wickedness.

  465. Peter writes

  466. In 2 Peter 3.9

  467. The Lord is patient

  468. With you

  469. Not wanting anyone

  470. To perish

  471. But everyone

  472. To come to repentance.

  473. And here's the really

  474. Important takeaway

  475. For all of us.

  476. Y'all

  477. Everyone

  478. Starts as a weed

  479. As people of the enemy.

  480. Paul uses this phrase

  481. Children of wrath.

  482. He says

  483. You were once

  484. Children of wrath.

  485. But the sower

  486. Is on a rescue mission.

  487. He came to get us

  488. To transfer us

  489. From the kingdom

  490. Of the enemy

  491. To the kingdom

  492. Of Jesus

  493. To transform us

  494. From weeds to wheat.

  495. But there will come

  496. A day

  497. When those who

  498. Persist in evil

  499. And who reject

  500. That invitation

  501. From the Lord Jesus

  502. Will receive

  503. God's justice.

  504. And so to answer

  505. That question

  506. To come back

  507. To that question

  508. Of how could

  509. A loving God

  510. Banish someone forever?

  511. The answer is

  512. He doesn't.

  513. C.S. Lewis

  514. Says it better

  515. Than I ever could

  516. In the great divorce.

  517. He says

  518. There are only

  519. Two kinds of people

  520. In the end.

  521. There are those

  522. Who say to God

  523. Thy will be done

  524. And there are those

  525. To whom God says

  526. In the end

  527. Thy will be done.

  528. All that are in hell

  529. Choose it.

  530. Without that self-choice

  531. There could be no hell.

  532. No soul

  533. That seriously

  534. And constantly

  535. Desires joy

  536. Will ever miss it.

  537. Those who seek

  538. Find

  539. To those who knock

  540. It is opened.

  541. What does this mean

  542. For us then?

  543. And for Jesus' listeners?

  544. Three main takeaways here.

  545. This is not the time

  546. For judgments

  547. But judgment

  548. Will come.

  549. Friends

  550. We will not be

  551. The ones

  552. Who do the judging.

  553. We need to be

  554. Really careful

  555. About assuming

  556. Who the wheat

  557. And the weeds are.

  558. Those we might expect

  559. To be part of the kingdom

  560. Might not be.

  561. And those who are

  562. Unexpected

  563. Might be.

  564. This was true

  565. In Jesus' day.

  566. There were a lot

  567. Of people

  568. Unexpected

  569. That were part

  570. Of the kingdom.

  571. Take who Jesus

  572. First revealed himself

  573. To as the Messiah.

  574. A Samaritan woman.

  575. An outcast

  576. Among outcasts.

  577. Who did he count

  578. Among his followers?

  579. He counted tax collectors.

  580. Religious zealots

  581. Who hated Rome.

  582. Women who had

  583. No status

  584. In society.

  585. People who were

  586. Poverty stricken.

  587. People who were

  588. Wealthy.

  589. People who

  590. Had been healed

  591. From leprosy.

  592. Delivered

  593. From demons.

  594. Raised from the dead.

  595. People that would

  596. Have been considered

  597. Weak

  598. And despised

  599. And unlovable.

  600. That were

  601. Unexpected.

  602. And most often

  603. Jesus' biggest

  604. Opponents

  605. Were externally

  606. Religious.

  607. Even among

  608. The twelve apostles

  609. There was someone

  610. False.

  611. Judas Iscariot

  612. Who betrayed

  613. Jesus

  614. To the Romans

  615. To the

  616. To the Jews

  617. And turned him

  618. Over to be crucified.

  619. Jesus doesn't care

  620. A wit

  621. About externals.

  622. He cares

  623. About the heart.

  624. About people

  625. Who drop everything

  626. And go

  627. When he says

  628. Follow me.

  629. And the same

  630. Is true

  631. For us.

  632. We tend

  633. To assume

  634. That people

  635. Like us

  636. Are righteous.

  637. But I think

  638. It would be good

  639. For all of us

  640. To ask ourselves

  641. This question.

  642. How often

  643. Do we make

  644. An effort

  645. To spend time

  646. With people

  647. Who are really

  648. Different than we are?

  649. Elizabeth Oldfield

  650. Is a British author

  651. Who just wrote

  652. A book called

  653. Fully Alive.

  654. She also has

  655. A podcast

  656. Where

  657. It's a podcast

  658. Called The Sacred

  659. And she hosts

  660. People that are

  661. Kind of all over

  662. The map

  663. Belief wise

  664. And she calls

  665. People that are

  666. Different than us

  667. She really exhorts

  668. People in her book

  669. To hang out

  670. With other people

  671. That are

  672. She uses the term

  673. NLMs

  674. Not like me's

  675. And she says

  676. The goal

  677. Is an agreement

  678. But understanding

  679. And something

  680. I really appreciate

  681. About her approach

  682. Is that

  683. When you listen

  684. To these conversations

  685. On her podcast

  686. There's a way

  687. That it sharpens

  688. Discernment

  689. What's truly evil

  690. And what's a

  691. Difference of opinion

  692. What's true fruit

  693. And what's

  694. External posturing

  695. And figuring this out

  696. Takes a lot of

  697. Patience

  698. A lot of humility

  699. And a lot of courage

  700. And frankly

  701. Y'all

  702. It's not our job

  703. Christians are

  704. To be out

  705. In the world

  706. In God's field

  707. With whomever

  708. God has placed

  709. Us next to

  710. To love them

  711. To be in

  712. Relationship with them

  713. To help the weeds

  714. Become wheat

  715. So remember

  716. What Jesus says

  717. To the servants

  718. When they say

  719. Well do you want us

  720. To pull up these weeds

  721. He says no

  722. Because you could

  723. Harm the wheat

  724. When we start

  725. Trying to sort

  726. People

  727. We can cause

  728. A lot of harm

  729. We have to

  730. Trust the Lord

  731. With that

  732. Secondly

  733. Suffering and evil

  734. Shouldn't surprise us

  735. In this time

  736. Between the already

  737. And the not yet

  738. We live in this world

  739. That's still inhabited

  740. By evil

  741. And that's a hard

  742. Thing

  743. To reconcile

  744. The evil

  745. In the suffering

  746. In the world

  747. With the promise

  748. Of God's kingdom

  749. Or even with

  750. God's power

  751. And his love

  752. Let's come back

  753. To John the Baptist

  754. Question at the

  755. Beginning of the

  756. Sermon

  757. Are you the one

  758. Who is to come

  759. Or should we

  760. Look for another

  761. So John didn't

  762. Get to ask that

  763. To Jesus directly

  764. He sent some

  765. Of his followers

  766. And that was

  767. Because he was

  768. Sitting in prison

  769. He had been

  770. Unjustly thrown

  771. In jail

  772. By Herod

  773. And immediately

  774. After this chapter

  775. Of Matthew's

  776. Gospel

  777. Herod orders

  778. John's beheading

  779. In the middle

  780. Of a drunken

  781. Party

  782. And John's

  783. Experience

  784. The story

  785. Of John's

  786. Life

  787. Is not uncommon

  788. When you look

  789. At saints

  790. Throughout history

  791. When you look

  792. At the

  793. Apostles

  794. All of them

  795. Except for the

  796. Apostle John

  797. Were martyred

  798. For their faith

  799. And it would

  800. Seem like

  801. If you're just

  802. Looking at the

  803. Physical reality

  804. That evil wins

  805. Doesn't it

  806. But let's think

  807. About the passage

  808. That Tom just

  809. Read for us

  810. In Romans

  811. Because it shows

  812. This is something

  813. Different

  814. Instead of being

  815. Hopeless

  816. The decay

  817. And the evil

  818. And the pain

  819. Are birth

  820. Pangs

  821. I remember

  822. When I was

  823. Pregnant

  824. I did a lot

  825. Of pregnant

  826. Lady

  827. Diligent pregnant

  828. Lady sort

  829. Of reading

  830. And listening

  831. To things

  832. And one of

  833. The things

  834. That stuck

  835. With me

  836. Was they

  837. Encouraged

  838. You in labor

  839. To cry out

  840. To moan

  841. To groan

  842. It can help

  843. You

  844. And it might

  845. Sound strange

  846. Why is this

  847. Because it's

  848. An expression

  849. It's a release

  850. Of the big

  851. Intense

  852. Difficult work

  853. Your body

  854. Is doing

  855. And that's

  856. True for the

  857. Spiritual groaning

  858. Too

  859. It's okay

  860. To groan

  861. In fact

  862. It'll help

  863. It's honest

  864. It's saying

  865. This isn't

  866. Okay

  867. I don't think

  868. This is what

  869. I don't think

  870. This is what

  871. The Lord

  872. Created the world

  873. To be

  874. Jesus groaned

  875. And the

  876. Greek word

  877. For groaning

  878. Here

  879. Is one

  880. That Mark

  881. Uses

  882. In his

  883. Gospel

  884. In chapter

  885. 7

  886. Verse 34

  887. And Jesus

  888. Is about

  889. To heal

  890. A man

  891. Who can't

  892. Hear

  893. And just

  894. Before he

  895. He heals

  896. Him

  897. He groans

  898. As he prays

  899. And it's

  900. The same

  901. Word that

  902. Paul uses

  903. It's this

  904. Groaning

  905. That expresses

  906. A longing

  907. For things

  908. To be made

  909. Right

  910. It's an

  911. Ake

  912. At the

  913. Pain

  914. And the

  915. Brokenness

  916. Surrounding

  917. Us

  918. But it's

  919. Not a

  920. Groaning

  921. That's

  922. Hopeless

  923. Because it

  924. Recognizes

  925. That this

  926. Isn't

  927. The end

  928. Paul and

  929. Jesus both

  930. Use this

  931. Incredibly

  932. Hopeful

  933. Beautiful

  934. Language

  935. To describe

  936. What those

  937. Who belong

  938. To God

  939. Have to

  940. Look forward

  941. To

  942. Paul writes

  943. I consider

  944. That our

  945. Present

  946. Sufferings

  947. Are not

  948. Worth

  949. Comparing

  950. To the

  951. Glory that

  952. Will be

  953. Revealed

  954. In us

  955. Jesus

  956. Says

  957. The righteous

  958. Will shine

  959. Like the

  960. Sun

  961. In my

  962. Father's

  963. House

  964. I would

  965. Encourage you

  966. This week

  967. To spend

  968. A little

  969. Time

  970. If you

  971. Have a

  972. Book of

  973. Common

  974. Prayer

  975. To look

  976. Up the

  977. Anglican

  978. Funeral

  979. Liturgy

  980. It might

  981. Be one

  982. Of my

  983. Favorite

  984. Liturgies

  985. In the

  986. Book of

  987. Common

  988. Prayer

  989. Because at

  990. Its heart

  991. It's a

  992. Resurrection

  993. Service

  994. It's

  995. Recognizing

  996. In the

  997. Face of

  998. Death

  999. That we

  1000. Have this

  1001. Hope

  1002. So listen

  1003. To these

  1004. Words that

  1005. Are said

  1006. As the

  1007. Body is

  1008. Taken

  1009. Out of

  1010. The

  1011. Church

  1012. This is

  1013. The

  1014. Prayer

  1015. Christ

  1016. Is risen

  1017. From the

  1018. Dead

  1019. Trampling

  1020. Down

  1021. Death

  1022. By

  1023. Death

  1024. And

  1025. Giving

  1026. Life

  1027. To

  1028. Those

  1029. In

  1030. The

  1031. Tomb

  1032. The

  1033. Son

  1034. Of

  1035. Righteousness

  1036. Is

  1037. Gloriously

  1038. Risen

  1039. Giving

  1040. Light

  1041. To

  1042. Those

  1043. Who

  1044. Sat

  1045. In

  1046. Darkness

  1047. And

  1048. In

  1049. The

  1050. Shadow

  1051. Of

  1052. Death

  1053. The

  1054. Lord

  1055. Will

  1056. Guide

  1057. Our

  1058. Feet

  1059. Into

  1060. The

  1061. Way

  1062. Of

  1063. Peace

  1064. Having

  1065. Taken

  1066. Away

  1067. The

  1068. Sin

  1069. Of

  1070. The

  1071. World

  1072. Christ

  1073. Will

  1074. Open

  1075. The

  1076. Kingdom

  1077. Of

  1078. Heaven

  1079. To

  1080. All

  1081. Who

  1082. Believe

  1083. In

  1084. His

  1085. Name

  1086. Saying

  1087. Come

  1088. Oh

  1089. Blessed

  1090. Of

  1091. My

  1092. Father

  1093. Inherit

  1094. The

  1095. Kingdom

  1096. Prepared

  1097. For

  1098. You

  1099. Inherit

  1100. The

  1101. Kingdom

  1102. Prepared

  1103. For

  1104. You

  1105. Paul

  1106. Says

  1107. We're

  1108. Heirs

  1109. That

  1110. Means

  1111. One

  1112. Day

  1113. We

  1114. Will

  1115. Inherit

  1116. This

  1117. Kingdom

  1118. And

  1119. This

  1120. Leads

  1121. To

  1122. Our

  1123. Last

  1124. Point

  1125. How

  1126. Do

  1127. We

  1128. Know

  1129. That

  1130. The

  1131. Inheritance

  1132. Is

  1133. Coming

  1134. Because

  1135. The

  1136. Holy

  1137. Spirit

  1138. Is

  1139. Our

  1140. Down

  1141. Payment

  1142. To

  1143. Deposit

  1144. Paul

  1145. Uses

  1146. The

  1147. First

  1148. Fruits

  1149. To

  1150. Describe

  1151. The

  1152. Spirit's

  1153. Presence

  1154. In

  1155. The

  1156. Life

  1157. Of

  1158. Believers

  1159. The

  1160. Spirit

  1161. Anticipates

  1162. And

  1163. Guarantees

  1164. What's

  1165. Coming

  1166. The

  1167. Spirit

  1168. Bridges

  1169. The

  1170. Gap

  1171. Between

  1172. The

  1173. Already

  1174. And

  1175. The

  1176. Not

  1177. Yet

  1178. And

  1179. Friends

  1180. This

  1181. Spirit

  1182. Is

  1183. The

  1184. One

  1185. Who

  1186. Opens

  1187. Our

  1188. Eyes

  1189. To

  1190. The

  1191. Power

  1192. Of

  1193. God

  1194. That's

  1195. Available

  1196. To

  1197. All

  1198. Who

  1199. Believe

  1200. So

  1201. Where

  1202. Does

  1203. This

  1204. Leave

  1205. All

  1206. Of

  1207. Us

  1208. This

  1209. Morning

  1210. First

  1211. If

  1212. You're

  1213. Not

  1214. Sure

  1215. What

  1216. You

  1217. Believe

  1218. And

  1219. If

  1220. You've

  1221. Struggled

  1222. With

  1223. Some

  1224. Of

  1225. These

  1226. Questions

  1227. We've

  1228. Mentioned

  1229. That

  1230. Is

  1231. Okay

  1232. It's

  1233. Okay

  1234. To

  1235. Ask

  1236. These

  1237. Questions

  1238. About

  1239. God

  1240. Are

  1241. You

  1242. Loving

  1243. What

  1244. Does

  1245. This

  1246. Mean

  1247. See

  1248. If

  1249. You

  1250. Can

  1251. Find

  1252. A

  1253. Quiet

  1254. Place

  1255. To

  1256. Sit

  1257. And

  1258. Ask

  1259. The

  1260. Lord

  1261. Those

  1262. Questions

  1263. This

  1264. Week

  1265. Ask

  1266. Him

  1267. To

  1268. Speak

  1269. To

  1270. You

  1271. And

  1272. Remember

  1273. Christ

  1274. Will

  1275. Open

  1276. The

  1277. Kingdom

  1278. Of

  1279. Heaven

  1280. To

  1281. All

  1282. Who

  1283. Believe

  1284. In

  1285. His

  1286. Name

  1287. Saying

  1288. Come

  1289. Oh

  1290. Blessed

  1291. Of

  1292. My

  1293. Father

  1294. And

  1295. Inherit

  1296. The

  1297. Kingdom

  1298. Prepared

  1299. For

  1300. You

  1301. The

  1302. Lord

  1303. Longs

  1304. For

  1305. You

  1306. To

  1307. Come

  1308. Home

  1309. He

  1310. Loves

  1311. You

  1312. He

  1313. Loves

  1314. You

  1315. He

  1316. Loves

  1317. You

  1318. He's

  1319. Holding

  1320. His

  1321. Hand

  1322. Out

  1323. To

  1324. You

  1325. Will

  1326. You

  1327. Take

  1328. It

  1329. And

  1330. If

  1331. You're

  1332. Suffering

  1333. Or

  1334. If

  1335. You're

  1336. Looking

  1337. At

  1338. The

  1339. State

  1340. Of

  1341. The

  1342. World

  1343. And

  1344. Groaning

  1345. And

  1346. Longing

  1347. For

  1348. Renewal

  1349. If

  1350. You're

  1351. Grieving

  1352. Beloved

  1353. Know

  1354. That

  1355. You

  1356. Have

  1357. A

  1358. Savior

  1359. Who

  1360. Groans

  1361. And

  1362. Grieves

  1363. With

  1364. You

  1365. And

  1366. Know

  1367. That

  1368. Evil

  1369. And

  1370. Grief

  1371. And

  1372. Decay

  1373. And

  1374. Sadness

  1375. Will

  1376. Not

  1377. Have

  1378. The

  1379. Final

  1380. Word

  1381. Jesus

  1382. Christ

  1383. The

  1384. Savior

  1385. Will

  1386. Have

  1387. The

  1388. Final

  1389. Word

  1390. And

  1391. One

  1392. Day

  1393. He

  1394. Will

  1395. Bring

  1396. You

  1397. Into

  1398. His

  1399. Father's

  1400. House

  1401. Where

  1402. You

  1403. Will

  1404. Shine

  1405. Like

  1406. The

  1407. Son

  1408. In

  1409. Glory

  1410. Reigning

  1411. With

  1412. The

  1413. Lord

  1414. Jesus

  1415. Christ

  1416. Forever

  1417. Let's

  1418. Pray

  1419. Lord

  1420. Would

  1421. You

  1422. Expand

  1423. Our

  1424. Hearts

  1425. To

  1426. Be

  1427. Be

  1428. Be

  1429. To

  1430. Receive

  1431. More

  1432. Of

  1433. You

  1434. Lord

  1435. Pour

  1436. Your

  1437. Spirit

  1438. Out

  1439. On

  1440. Us

  1441. Thank

  1442. You

  1443. For

  1444. The

  1445. Gift

  1446. Of

  1447. Your

  1448. Spirit

  1449. Thank

  1450. You

  1451. That

  1452. You

  1453. Are

  1454. Mighty

  1455. And

  1456. Strong

  1457. To

  1458. Save

  1459. All

  1460. Who

  1461. Cry

  1462. Out

  1463. To

  1464. You

  1465. Lord

  1466. I

  1467. Pray

  1468. That

  1469. Those

  1470. Who

  1471. Are

  1472. Sitting

  1473. In

  1474. Darkness

  1475. Would

  1476. Come

  1477. Into

  1478. Your

  1479. Glorious

  1480. Light

  1481. As

  1482. You

  1483. Call

  1484. Them

  1485. !

  1487. For

  1488. The

  1494. They

  1495. Would

  1496. Feel

  1497. You

  1498. That

  1499. They

  1500. Would

  1501. Know

  1502. You

  1503. That

  1504. You

  1505. Would

  1506. Sustain

  1507. Them

  1509. Lord

  1510. As

  1516. Those

  1517. Who

  1518. Bring

  1519. This

  1520. Truth

  1521. To

  1522. A

  1523. World

  1524. That

  1525. Is

  1526. Needy

  1527. And

  1528. Broken

1529. and desperately in need of healing.

1531. with your grace, your mercy, and your healing.

1533. and give us a willingness to go when you call us,

1534. when you say, follow me, to follow.
