  1. Good morning, North Palm.

  2. Amen. Amen. I am excited. I'm excited

  3. about what Holy Spirit is doing. Um I

  4. just take authority over any spirit of

  5. witchcraft that's been released against

  6. you. Any word curses that have been

  7. spoken, I cancel them in Jesus name. And

  8. I call forth the power of the Holy Ghost

  9. just to move in your life now. Lift your

  10. hands with me right now. Come on,

  11. everybody. Lift your hands. Pray this

  12. prayer with me. Holy Spirit, open my

  13. ears that I can hear what you have to

  14. say. Open my heart. Make it receptive. I

  15. give you permission to move deep in my

  16. life, to form my heart, to form my

  17. character. Jesus, have your way in me

  18. today. Amen. And I want to talk to you

  19. about from glory to glory. I want you to

  20. look uh at the apostle Paul's second

  21. letter to the church at Corenth.

  22. 2 Corinthians chapter 3 beginning with

    2 Corinthians 3 chapter mention

  23. verse well actually just reading verse

  24. number 18. 2 Corinthians 3:18. If you'd

    2 Corinthians 3:18

  25. like the notes, I encourage you text the

  26. word notes to 84375-56209.

  27. download a copy. At the end, there's a

  28. seven-day prayer plan. I encourage you

  29. to pray through these this week because

  30. Holy Spirit is preparing us for revival.

  31. This is so necessary. Do you We've got

  32. to get a grip on what it means to go

  33. from glory to glory. And we're not

  34. talking about an emotional experience to

  35. an emotional experience. We're talking

  36. about the image of Christ being made

  37. clearer through us every day. 2

  38. Corinthians chapter 3:18. But we all

  39. with unveiled face, beholding as in a

  40. mirror the glory of the Lord,

  41. are being transformed

  42. into the same image

  43. from glory to glory just as by the

  44. spirit of the Lord. So in this passage,

  45. Paul is actually lifting the veil and

  46. revealing the ongoing work of Holy

  47. Spirit in the life of every believer.

  48. Now God's not interested in just dead,

  49. dormant, stagnant religion. What he is

  50. looking for is a people who will allow

  51. themselves to be progressively

  52. transformed into the image of his dear

  53. son. Now under the old covenant, the

  54. glory was was fading. It was external

  55. and it was mediated through Moses. But

  56. under the new covenant, the glory is

  57. internal. It is increasing and it is

  58. mediated by the Holy Spirit. So Paul

  59. said we go from glory to glory. So this

  60. is a journey of beholding Christ looking

  61. at Christ and and then becoming like

  62. him. And so where the revelation of

  63. Jesus in us produces a reflection of

  64. Jesus through us. So the more we the

  65. more we reflect Jesus, the more

  66. transformation

  67. that happens in our lives. So it is the

  68. promise that we fix our gaze on the Lord

  69. where the spirit is continually

  70. conforming us into the image of Jesus

  71. and we're moving from one degree of

  72. glory to another degree of manifested

  73. Christlikeness

  74. to another to another until the

  75. character

  76. the character of Jesus is formed in us

  77. and his glory is actually seen through

  78. us. So I want you to get this.

  79. Sanctification

  80. is God changing us over time.

  81. Sanctification is not you just trying to

  82. hold your ground and keep it together

  83. today so that you don't fall off the

  84. wagon.

  85. So many believers are faithful, but they

  86. live frustrated lives.

  87. They love Jesus, but yet they're

  88. stalled.

  89. They're saved, but they're not changing.

  90. They're forgiven, but they're still

  91. fighting the same battle every day, week

  92. in week out, month in, month out, year

  93. in, year out. And Paul confronts that

  94. mindset directly

  95. and he does not describe the Christian

  96. life as survival.

  97. This is not an episode of survival until

  98. Jesus comes.

  99. >> This

  100. is ongoing progressive transformation

  101. revealing Jesus to the world around us.

  102. So you understand that sanctification

  103. is not behavior modification.

  104. Sanctification

  105. is the Holy Spirit

  106. applying Christ's victory

  107. in us over time.

  108. And so listen to the language that Paul

  109. uses. He said, "But we all with unveiled

  110. face," look at this, "beholding as in a

  111. mirror the glory of the Lord." Now,

  112. James talks about a mirror. He talks

  113. about the mirror of the word and how

  114. you're looking at that mirror and you're

  115. seeing yourself introspectively.

  116. But that's not what what Paul is saying

  117. here in 2 Corinthians 3. He said,

  118. "Beholding as in a mirror the glory of

  119. the Lord." This is not about you. This

  120. is about Jesus.

  121. He said being transformed into the same

  122. image. You see Jesus and then you're

  123. being transformed. You become like the

  124. man in the mirror.

  125. And then he says from glory to glory. So

  126. you see that that progression that that

  127. victory over time. And so Paul's

  128. language is exactly that. It is a

  129. progressive language. Christianity is as

  130. defined by scripture is a dynamic

  131. advancing biblical Christianity is

  132. marked by a continual movement toward

  133. Christ likeness.

  134. >> I'm supposed to look more like Jesus

  135. tomorrow than I look like him today.

  136. >> You I've said this before. I want to say

  137. it again.

  138. You don't have to do anything to make

  139. God loves you. He loves you and there's

  140. nothing you could do to make him love

  141. you more. He loves you. It's not your

  142. works.

  143. >> But because he loves you,

  144. >> he refuses to leave you the way you are.

  145. >> He's constantly working in you to make

  146. you more like him. And this is that

  147. process. So let's break this this

  148. scripture down. But we all you see this

  149. is a standard a shared inheritance. We

  150. all all of us there's no exclusion

  151. there. There is not an elite

  152. spirituality where Paul is segregating a

  153. few. Oh now you are really holy. So so

  154. you're beholding in a mirror of the

  155. image. No no no. He said we all with

  156. unveiled face. All of us. He includes

  157. every believer. Sanctification is not

  158. for a few that walk in that deeper life

  159. experience. It is the normal Christian

  160. life rightly lived.

  161. >> Normal.

  162. >> You're not weird.

  163. >> Well, for the most part,

  164. just teasing.

  165. He said, "But we all with unveiled

  166. face." This what is it? This is saying

  167. that access has been restored. He's

  168. referencing Moses in Exodus 34 who had

  169. to veil his face because the glory was

  170. so strong. He'd been in the presence of

  171. Jehovah. And the glory was so strong the

  172. PEOPLE WERE SCARED TO LOOK AT HIM.

  173. >> WOW.

  174. >> But in Christ, that veil is permanently

  175. removed.

  176. >> That's right.

  177. >> Permanently removed. Paul said in 2

    2 Corinthians 3:16

  178. Corinthians 3:16, "Nevertheless, when

  179. one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken

  180. away,

  181. permanently removed." The Greek word for

  182. veil with unveiled face. The veil is

  183. taken away. Literally means a covering.

  184. It is concealment and it represents

  185. spiritual blindness. It represents

  186. distance from God and it represents

  187. mediated access. Moses had to mediate

  188. the access of Israel to the glory of

  189. God. But in Christ, access is direct.

  190. You can have access. You do have access.

  191. And that glory is unfading. It doesn't

  192. pass away. And so the intimacy that that

  193. is there is restored.

  194. >> So sanctification begins where faith

  195. steps into what Christ secured. Amen.

  196. >> He said beholding as we all with

  197. unveiled face beholding as in a mirror.

  198. This is transforming

  199. vision. That the word beholding means to

  200. gaze steadily to reflect in like a

  201. mirror. So it's not a you're not

  202. glancing at Jesus once in a while. This

  203. is a prolonged

  204. attention. He has your attention. You

  205. are looking. You're not taking your eyes

  206. off of Jesus. So you wait, you know, you

  207. don't you don't become like what you

  208. fight.

  209. Some of you are fighting sin. You're

  210. fighting addiction. And and and thank

  211. God that you don't like it. You want to

  212. be changed, but you don't become like

  213. what you fight. You become like what you

  214. behold.

  215. And so Hebrews chapter

    Hebrews 12 chapter mention

  216. 12

  217. verse number two Paul the the writer

  218. said looking unto G look at that looking

  219. unto Jesus the author and the finisher

  220. of our faith who for the joy set before

  221. him

  222. endured the cross despising the shame

  223. and has sat down at the right hand of

  224. the throne of God. What was the joy set

  225. before him?

  226. You.

  227. You're the joy that was SET BEFORE HIM.

  228. YOUR SALVATION, YOUR JUSTIFICATION, YOUR

  229. SANCTIFICATION, YOUR REGENERATION, YOUR

  230. SEPARATION FROM THE FATHER REMOVED. YOU

  231. ARE THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM.

  232. THAT'S WHY HE ENDURED THE SHAME. THAT'S

  233. WHY HE DESPISED IT. THAT'S WHY HE WENT

  234. THROUGH THE AGONY AND THE AND THE

  235. BEATING AND THE WHIPPING AND THE

  236. HUMILIATION. You are that joy.

  237. >> Looking unto Jesus. So transformation

  238. comes

  239. not from looking at yourself but from

  240. looking at Jesus. Transformation

  241. transformation doesn't come by you being

  242. able to dissect every little thing

  243. that's wrong with your life.

  244. We don't change by staring at our flaws.

  245. We change by seeing his glory.

  246. And he said with unveiled face, we are

  247. being transformed.

  248. This is an exter or an internal change.

  249. It's a work of Holy Spirit inside of us

  250. that begins to manifest on the outside.

  251. And so the Greek word for transformed is

  252. metamorpho. It's where we get the word

  253. metamorphosis and it means to transform

  254. literally to and and also figuratively

  255. but it means to change to transfigure to

  256. transform and this word is used when

  257. Jesus was transfigured there on the

  258. mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17.

  259. In Matthew 17 verse number two, the

  260. Bible says he was transfigured

  261. metamorpho before them and his face

  262. shone like the sun and his clothes

  263. became as white as the light. So that

  264. that's what happened. Jesus was he he

  265. entered his glorified state. But it was

  266. also used where Paul was writing in

  267. Romans 12 verse number two. You know in

  268. verse one he said you need to present

  269. yourself as a living sacrifice. And then

  270. in verse two he said do not be conformed

  271. to the world this world but be

  272. transformed metamorpho be transformed

  273. by the renewing of your mind. How do you

  274. get your mind renewed? Put your

  275. attention on Jesus.

  276. Be transformed by the renewing of your

  277. mind and then you can prove what is that

  278. good, acceptable and perfect will of

  279. God. So metamorpho describes a change

  280. from the inside out.

  281. >> So sanctification is not suppression.

  282. It is reformation

  283. allowing Jesus to reake you.

  284. And so he said from glory to glory. So

  285. there is a progressive displacement.

  286. This is not from sin to holiness. This

  287. is from one degree of glory to another

  288. degree of glory. And the word glory in

  289. Greek is much like the word glory in

  290. Hebrew. They both mean weight and

  291. substance. It's a manifested reality. So

  292. darkness is not defeated by discipline

  293. alone.

  294. It's not your work. We're saved by grace

  295. through faith. It's a gift of God, not

  296. of works, lest anyone should boast. You

  297. don't defeat darkness just by saying no.

  298. You defeat darkness by in allowing the

  299. glory of Christ to increase inside of

  300. you. It's Jesus in you flowing out of

  301. you. And how does that happen? Paul said

  302. it is by the spirit of the Lord. So

  303. there's this divine agency involved.

  304. It's not you, it's God. It's holy spirit

  305. working in you. So the spirit is

  306. assisting your effort and it's the

  307. spirit of God that is producing the

  308. change in you. In Romans chapter 8 verse

    Romans 8:13

  309. 13, Paul said, "For if you live

  310. according to the flesh, you will die.

  311. But if by the spirit," how do you do it?

  312. If by the spirit you put to death the

  313. deeds of the body, you will live. So

  314. sanctification is a spirit empowered

  315. cooperation.

  316. It is not self-powered striving.

  317. >> I want you to notice number one,

  318. sanctification destroys deception.

  319. Remember we talked about Genesis 3:13,

    Genesis 3:13

  320. how when God confronted Eve, she said,

  321. "Well, the serpent deceived me and I

  322. ate." The serpent deceived me. The word

  323. deceive, the the main idea that that

  324. word is conveying is the serpent led me

  325. astray. The serpent caused me to heir.

  326. He lied to me. There was a false

  327. persuasion there. And so it it is

  328. implying to seduce intellectually, to

  329. mislead through distortion, to cause

  330. someone to believe what is false. And

  331. and it often implies a subtle

  332. manipulation,

  333. not open force. And let me tell you

  334. something. There is a lot of deception

  335. that is going on in the world today. And

  336. you need to wake up and open up your

  337. eyes and get a little discernment from

  338. the Holy Ghost before you jump on every

  339. little bandwagon that comes along.

  340. >> So deception is not coercion. It's

  341. persuasion that distorts the reality. In

  342. 1 Corinthians 15:33, Paul said, "Do not

    1 Corinthians 15:33

  343. be deceived. Bad con company corrupts

  344. good morals.

  345. In other words, if you run with skunks,

  346. don't be surprised if you stink.

  347. Amen, pastor. Wow, that's good stuff.

  348. So, the word deceive in Greek here means

  349. to lead astray, to misrepresent

  350. reality. And so Jesus identifies

  351. deception as Satan's native language. We

  352. looked at this verse a few weeks ago.

  353. John 8 verse number 44 where Jesus says

  354. you are the father. You are the you are

  355. of your father the devil and the desires

  356. of your father you want to do. He was a

  357. murderer from the beginning. He doesn't

  358. stand in the truth because there is no

  359. truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he

  360. speaks from his own resources. For he is

  361. a liar and the father of it. So

  362. sanctification tears down lies by

  363. revealing truth. John 17:17,

    John 17:17

  364. sanctify them by your truth. Your word

  365. is truth. It's not your opinion. It's

  366. not your ideology. It's not even your

  367. doctrine. It is the truth of Jesus

  368. Christ.

  369. >> Hallelujah.

  370. >> And so truth doesn't just inform. Truth

  371. reorders

  372. reality.

  373. So what does this mean to me? What do I

  374. need to do with this? Well, first of

  375. all, you need to identify lies that you

  376. have normalized about God. Identify lies

  377. that you've normalized about yourself.

  378. Identify lies that you've normalized

  379. about other people. You where you

  380. generalize AND PUT THEM ALL IN THE SAME

  381. bucket and you need to replace

  382. assumptions with the word of God

  383. and then stay in the word long enough

  384. for your thinking to REALIGN WITH HIS

  385. THINKING.

  386. >> That's how you have the mind of Christ.

  387. Second thing I want you to notice is

  388. that sanctification dismantles bondage.

  389. Sin is not only an act, it is a master.

  390. Romans chapter 6 verse 6, Paul said,

    Romans 6:6

  391. "Knowing this that our old man was

  392. crucified with him, that the body of sin

  393. might be done away with that we should

  394. no longer be slaves of sin." The word

  395. slave is the Greek word that means means

  396. one bound to another's will. You are

  397. bound. You are you are a slave to the

  398. devil's will. And so bondage continues

  399. when your identity is distorted by the

  400. lies of the devil. Remember what Paul

  401. said in Romans 6:6, knowing this, that

    Romans 6:6

  402. the old man was crucified with him. And

  403. you understand that crucifixion was

  404. decisive. There's no turning around if

  405. you've been crucified. Freedom, however,

  406. is learned progressively.

  407. I have been crucified with Christ.

  408. Nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but

  409. Christ lives in me. And the life that I

  410. LIVE IN THIS FLESH, I LIVE BY FAITH IN

  411. THE SON OF God who loved me and gave

  412. himself for me. So when Israel came out

  413. of Egypt, the Exodus was decisive.

  414. Pharaoh's army was destroyed in the Red

  415. Sea. There is no turning back. But yet,

  416. Israel had to learn how to live free

  417. from slavery. It had to learn how to be

  418. a conqueror. They had to learn how to be

  419. a people of God. And unfortunately, it

  420. took them 40 years of wandering in THE

  421. WILDERNESS TO GET A GRASP OF THAT.

  422. Galatians chapter 5:E 16, Paul said, "I

  423. say then, walk in the spirit and you

  424. will not fulfill the lust of the flesh."

  425. So you see that walking precedes

  426. victory.

  427. Stop fighting sin as an isolated enemy

  428. and start cultivating a daily spirit

  429. awareness.

  430. Are you aware when you go to work that

  431. the Holy Ghost goes in with you?

  432. >> Are you aware when you GO TO SCHOOL,

  433. WHETHER IT'S HIGH school or university

  434. or higher education ON THE HIGHEST

  435. LEVELS, THAT YOU'RE NOT GOING ALONE?

  436. HOLY SPIRIT IS GOING WITH YOU.

  437. >> HE'S WITH YOU. CULTIVATE A DAILY spirit

  438. awareness and then start obeying

  439. promptly. Don't get hung up on being

  440. perfect. Just move in obedience.

  441. It doesn't matter if you say it, if you

  442. don't say it just right, or if you don't

  443. do it just right. The ma what matters is

  444. that you say it, that you do it.

  445. Number three, sanctification silences

  446. accusation.

  447. Satan is not just a tempter. Remember,

  448. he is the accuser. And Revelation 12:10

    Revelation 12:10

  449. says he is the accuser of the brethren.

  450. And so, accusation will keep you looking

  451. backward. Satan reminds you what you

  452. were before you came to Christ. Sanctifi

  453. uh the accusation will keep you

  454. operating in shame because you remember

  455. what you were. You feel that shame like

  456. it's what you are now. You remember that

  457. shame and it'll cause you to be hesitant

  458. in obedience because I used to do that.

  459. I feel the shame of that. How am I going

  460. to obey God today when I know what I was

  461. yesterday?

  462. But sanctification rebuilds your

  463. confidence in your standing with God.

  464. Because Paul also said in Romans 8:1,

    Romans 8:1

  465. "There is therefore now no condemnation

  466. to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do

  467. not walk according to the flesh, but

  468. according to the spirit." Some

  469. translations cut it off at there is

  470. therefore now no condemnation to those

  471. who are in Christ Jesus. That really

  472. doesn't do any violation because Paul

  473. repeats the same thing later on in the

  474. same passage. who walk not according to

  475. the flesh but according to the spirit.

  476. But the main thing I want you to see is

  477. there's no condemnation if you are in

  478. Christ because condemnation paralyzes.

  479. But when you know who you are in Christ,

  480. you are mobilized. Condem condemnation

  481. will hold you back and keep you from

  482. acting. BUT WHEN YOU KNOW WHO you are in

  483. Christ, you are SENT FORWARD. YOU'RE NOT

  484. AFRAID. YOU'RE NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL

  485. OF CHRIST BECAUSE IT'S THE POWER OF GOD

  486. to all who believe.

  487. >> So here's a real plan of action.

  488. Reject the voices that contradict

  489. Christ's finished work.

  490. In other words, what Jesus says about

  491. you is all that you should believe about

  492. you.

  493. Speak the word of God out loud.

  494. >> Declare what the word says about you.

  495. Refuse to rehearse forgiven sin.

  496. >> Oh, come on now. Refuse to go over in

  497. your mind everything you've been

  498. forgiven of.

  499. >> Shut up.

  500. >> Put it out of your mind.

  501. Because you are not what you used to be

  502. and you are not what you used to do.

  503. >> Amen pastor.

  504. Number four, sanctification creates a

  505. visible distinction between the kingdom

  506. of God and the culture that is around

  507. us. You need to get this.

  508. Holiness is not disappearing from

  509. culture. Oh, I'm not going to do that

  510. because I'm a child of God. I can't get

  511. involved in that. I'm I've been saved

  512. and washed by the blood.

  513. I can't can't can't dirty my hands with

  514. that.

  515. No. No. Listen to me. Holiness is not

  516. pulling away from people.

  517. Holiness is about living differently

  518. among people.

  519. Holiness is separation unto God that

  520. becomes evident

  521. to people that you are around.

  522. Matthew chapter 5

    Matthew 5:14

  523. verse 14 Jesus said, "You are the light

  524. of the world. A city that is set on a

  525. hill cannot

  526. be hidden." How how does light bring

  527. change?

  528. Light changes a room by entering it.

  529. When light appears, darkness has no

  530. rebuttal.

  531. Light settles the issue by showing what

  532. is real.

  533. Light advances by shining, not by

  534. striving.

  535. Light doesn't work. Light just is. So

  536. the church is God's demonstration of a

  537. superior kingdom.

  538. So what does that mean to me? What am I

  539. supposed to do with this? Well, how

  540. about live distinctively without

  541. hostility?

  542. You don't have to be mad about

  543. everything.

  544. >> How about let holiness be attractive and

  545. not abrasive.

  546. >> You don't have to just keep

  547. intentionally rubbing people the wrong

  548. way.

  549. How about carrying peace,

  550. carrying clarity,

  551. carrying truth into public spaces?

  552. And then number five, I want you to see

  553. that sanctification is not holding back.

  554. It is putting on Christ.

  555. Darkness is not overcome by avoidance.

  556. >> Uh-uh. No. It is overcome by the greater

  557. presence of the light of Christ shining

  558. through you.

  559. So sanctification is internal renovation

  560. not external regulation.

  561. Just because you look sanctified

  562. >> honey it don't mean you are sanctified.

  563. Because you can talk holy when you are

  564. around church folk

  565. >> doesn't mean you are holy

  566. >> in your heart

  567. >> internal re renovation not external

  568. regulation. So Paul said in Colossians

    Colossians 1:13

  569. 1:13,

  570. "He has delivered us from the power of

  571. darkness and conveyed us into the

  572. kingdom of the son of his love.

  573. Delivered us from darkness, conveyed us

  574. into the kingdom of the son of his

  575. love." So as Christ increases,

  576. deception loses its grip.

  577. >> That's right.

  578. >> Habits become weaker.

  579. >> That addiction can't hold you if you

  580. continue to behold the manifestation of

  581. Jesus. You look in the mirror and you

  582. behold the image. You the image of

  583. Jesus. You keep looking. That habit has

  584. to let you go. I break addiction. Right

  585. now in the name of Jesus, I come against

  586. drug addiction and pornography addiction

  587. and perversion in the name OF JESUS. AS

  588. CHRIST INCREASES, THE DECEPTION LOSES

  589. its grip, THE HABITS WEAKEN, AND YOUR

  590. AUTHORITY BEGINS TO RISE. JESUS IN YOU

  591. BEGINS TO REALLY MOVE THROUGH YOU AND

  592. YOU SEE CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE AND YOU

  593. BECOME AN AGENT of change in the world

  594. around you.

  595. >> This is from glory to glory. So to sum

  596. it up,

  597. sanctification is the spirit

  598. applying Christ's victory.

  599. It is the spirit displacing the

  600. darkness.

  601. It is the Holy Spirit restoring Christ

  602. image in us. And it is un and he and

  603. that spirit keeps working until Christ

  604. is fully formed

  605. in us.

  606. So Galatians 4:19, Paul said, "My little

    Galatians 4:19

  607. children,

  608. for whom I labor in birth again

  609. until Christ

  610. is formed

  611. in you.

  612. That's it.

  613. That's it. Jesus

  614. formed in me.

  615. I want Jesus.

  616. And when I gaze upon his beauty, when I

  617. look into his holiness, there awakens

  618. something inside of me that says, "I

  619. want that. I want that. I know the good,

  620. the bad, and the ugly about me. I know

  621. all my struggles and all my flaws too

  622. well. What I need to do is know
