  1. I'm glad to be here today with you, with all of you sharing God's Word.

  2. And as you know, as Jared mentioned last week, it's the first time that I preach at church.

  3. And it's the first time that I preach in a language that is not my first language.

  4. So I'm kind of nervous.

  5. But I'm happy to do it.

  6. And I'm happy to be here.

  7. Also, I'm wearing green.

  8. I'm wearing green. Ashley told me that I had to wear green.

  9. Because it's a special day today.

  10. And so I'm doing it.

  11. I'm sad that Brian is not here because I know he was going to mention something about it.

  12. But please open your Bibles in 2 Kings, in chapter 22.

  13. And today we are going to focus our attention on a king that, despite the idolatry of the nation of Israel, he decided to obey the Lord.

  14. 2 Kings 22.

  15. And as you probably see in the title of your Bible, in the title of the chapter, we're going to talk about King Josiah.

  16. And today, by studying Josiah's example, we will learn four characteristics of a heart that pleases the Lord.

  17. And I want you to give you a brief summary of what's going on at this moment in the nation of Israel.

  18. We have been studying Judges with Jared for a couple of months now.

  19. And we know that at this point, there was no king in Israel.

  20. So when the time of Judges finishes, Israel requests a king to Samuel.

  21. And they request to have a king like the other nations.

  22. We know that the first king was Saul.

  23. And after him was David.

  24. And after David was Solomon, the son of David.

  25. These three kings reigned over a simple kingdom.

  26. So Israel was one nation.

  27. But do Solomon sin, which was worshiping the idols of his wives.

  28. And also do a power struggle between two of his sons.

  29. Israel is divided into two kingdoms.

  30. The kingdom of the north, that is Israel.

  31. And the kingdom of the south, that is Judah.

  32. And this is important to say it because Josiah belongs to the line of the kings of Judah.

  33. The kingdom of the south.

  34. And at this moment of history, in the history of Israel, he was the only king in the nation.

  35. Because the kingdom of the north was already conquered by the king of Assyria.

  36. And if you have read the books of kings, if not, you can read it later.

  37. Israel and Judah, the two kingdoms, had different kings and many kings.

  38. Most of the kings turned their hearts to the idols and forgot God.

  39. And only a small number of kings did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

  40. And Josiah was one of them.

  41. His kingdom was blessed because he showed devotion and obedience to God.

  42. And today we are going to learn how he did it.

  43. And remember, we are going to talk about four characteristics of a heart that pleases the Lord.

  44. And we are going to go to the first characteristic.

  45. And it is a righteous heart pleases the Lord.

  46. A righteous heart pleases the Lord.

  47. And we are going to see this in verse 1 and 2 of our chapter.

  48. But to understand this, we are going to see two points in this point.

  49. And we are going to see these two points to how to develop a righteous heart that pleases the Lord.

  50. And the first one is the early instruction produces righteousness.

  51. So let's go to our Bibles.

  52. And let's go to the verse 1.

  53. And let's read it.

  54. And God's word says,

  55. Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign.

  56. And he reigned 31 years in Jerusalem.

  57. His mother's name was Jedida, the daughter of Adia, a boscat.

  58. I was thinking that I chose a really hard passage because I don't even know how to say this name in Spanish.

  59. And it's even hard to say it in English.

  60. I'll do my best today.

  61. So we see that Josiah is placed on the throne after Ammon, his dad, was killed.

  62. You will find that in the chapter before this one.

  63. And as the bird tells us, he started reigning when he was eight years old.

  64. He was way too young to be on the throne.

  65. I think the closest one in our church to this age is Harper.

  66. Harper is eight years old.

  67. Can you imagine that?

  68. Can you imagine being at that age?

  69. He was a little kid.

  70. But he was the son of the previous king.

  71. So he was the heir to the throne.

  72. The nation needed a king.

  73. So they had to place Josiah on the throne at his young age.

  74. And I want you to think a little bit about how royal children were instructed when they were kids.

  75. The Bible doesn't tell us that in this passage.

  76. But for sure, they were thought in the Jewish traditions.

  77. And for sure, they were thought about the Lord.

  78. Because God was the God of their nation.

  79. And this doesn't mean that they were going to obey.

  80. And we see that in the history of the kings.

  81. We see a lot of kings that didn't obey the Lord.

  82. And in fact, we see that in Ammon, his death.

  83. He didn't obey the Lord.

  84. But considering this, Josiah knew about the obedience of his predecessors.

  85. Around 50 years before, his great-grandfather, Hezekiah, implemented reforms in the nation of Judah.

  86. And a few years back, his grandfather, Manasseh, obeyed the Lord and his kingdom was restored.

  87. You can find this in chapters 19 through 21.

  88. We're not going to read it today.

  89. But you can read it at home.

  90. So, Josiah had these examples and heard about them as part of the history of the kings of Judah.

  91. This for sure had an impact in his obedience at his young age.

  92. Another thing that we can consider is that during his reign, there were faithful men and prophets like Jeremiah and Sophaniah.

  93. And faithful servants like Hilkiah and Shaphan.

  94. We're going to talk about them later on.

  95. Shaphan, sorry.

  96. These men could have motivated Josiah to obey the Lord.

  97. And one last thing to think about this.

  98. It says, even though the Bible doesn't say it, his mom probably had something to do with his obedience.

  99. We can't say the same about his father, Amon.

  100. Because if you read in the previous chapter, as I mentioned, he didn't obey the Lord and reign for a short amount of time.

  101. But thinking about his mom, we can see in the life of Josiah her faithfulness.

  102. In raising her son in a godly way.

  103. He was eight years old.

  104. He was still a child being raised by his mother.

  105. She could even have looked for godly men that instructed her son in the traditions of the nation.

  106. But even though all of this had a role in shaping his heart,

  107. we can't ignore the fact that it was God who moved his heart to do what was right.

  108. In 1 Kings chapter 8, we're not going to, you don't have to look at it.

    1 Kings 8 chapter mention

  109. I don't want to read it.

  110. We find Solomon speaking to the nation of Israel regarding his obedience to the Lord.

  111. Solomon speaking to the nation of Israel.

  112. In verse 8, he tells them that he may, talking about God,

  113. incline your hearts to him to walk in all his ways and to keep his commitments,

  114. his statutes and his rules, which he commanded to our fathers.

  115. Solomon knew that only God can incline their hearts or could incline their hearts to his obedience.

  116. Paul tells us something, tells the Philippines something similar in chapter 2, verse 13.

  117. And he says this,

  118. God places people around us as an example for our lives.

  119. But at the end of the day, God does the work in our hearts through his word.

  120. Parents, don't give up teaching your children God's word.

  121. Proverbs says to train up a child in the way he should go,

  122. because even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  123. God does the work in their hearts,

  124. but we can be an instrument to bring our kids into obedience and salvation.

  125. Now, not only does the early instruction produce righteousness,

  126. but also commitment produces righteousness.

  127. And let's look at the verse 2 in our passage.

  128. And it says,

  129. And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord,

  130. and walked in all the way of David his father.

  131. And he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.

  132. He, Josiah, did what was right and walked in the way of David his father.

  133. How do we know that he did what was right?

  134. Chapter 23, the next one, gives us more details about what he did,

  135. and so does the book of 2 Chronicles.

  136. Both 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles provides us with a summary

  137. of the reforms against idolatry that Josiah implemented.

  138. He cleansed the house of God.

  139. That was one.

  140. He knocked down the altars, destroyed the idols,

  141. knocked down the high places where sacrifice were made or offered to other gods.

  142. And he burned the bones of the priests that worshipped the false gods.

  143. His reform was radical.

  144. He was committed to obey the Lord.

  145. How long does it take us to remove sin in our life?

  146. Are we radical about it?

  147. Last week in the Men Up conference,

  148. one of the preachers was talking about 1 Timothy chapter 6.

    1 Timothy 6 chapter mention

  149. And he said that passivity affects believers.

  150. And he said that we cannot deal with sin lightly.

  151. And that we must fight against it.

  152. Josiah cleansed Judah from its sin.

  153. If you read the stories of the other kings,

  154. you will see that some of them didn't cleanse Israel the way that Josiah did.

  155. Some of them didn't destroy the altars of the high places.

  156. And this led the nation back to their idolatry.

  157. Because they were not radical.

  158. But Josiah wiped out the idolatry in the nation.

  159. And he commended everyone to obey and serve the Lord.

  160. And in 2 Chronicles chapter 33, verse 33,

  161. says that all his days,

  162. he's talking about Josiah,

  163. they did not turn away from following the Lord.

  164. That's what he did.

  165. Josiah did that with the help of the Lord.

  166. Josiah reigned with righteousness the rest of his life.

  167. In 2 Kings 23, 25,

  168. says that before him,

  169. there was no king like him

  170. who turned to the Lord with all his heart

  171. and with all his soul

  172. and with all his might.

  173. Nor did any like him arise after him.

  174. Josiah's heart was with the Lord.

  175. His commitment was to please him and to obey him.

  176. The fact that he didn't turn aside to the right or to the left,

  177. it's proof of his righteous heart.

  178. He followed the example of David,

  179. who set the pattern for the rulers of God's people.

  180. He walked in a straight path,

  181. looking towards God,

  182. pursuing obedience to him.

  183. We are looking at four characteristics of a heart that pleases the Lord.

  184. We just saw that a righteous heart pleases the Lord

  185. with early instruction and also commitment.

  186. Now let's see how a diligent heart pleases the Lord.

  187. And we're going to read verses 3 through 8.

  188. And it says,

  189. In the eighteen year of King Josiah,

  190. the king sent Shaphan,

  191. the son of Azaliah,

  192. son of Meshulam,

  193. the secretary,

  194. to the house of the Lord,

  195. saying,

  196. Go up to Hilkiah,

  197. the high priest,

  198. that he may count the money

  199. that has been brought

  200. into the house of the Lord,

  201. which the keepers of the threshold

  202. have collected from the people.

  203. And let it be given into the hand of the workmen

  204. who have the oversight of the house of the Lord.

  205. And let them give it to the workmen

  206. that are of the house of the Lord,

  207. repairing the house,

  208. that is,

  209. to the carpenters,

  210. and to the builders,

  211. and to the masons.

  212. And let them use it for vying timber

  213. and queer storm

  214. to repair the house.

  215. But not a accountant shall be asked

  216. for them for the money

  217. that is delivered into their hand,

  218. for they deal honestly.

  219. And Hilkiah,

  220. the high priest,

  221. the high priest,

  222. said to Shaphan,

  223. the secretary,

  224. I have found the book of the law

  225. in the house of the Lord.

  226. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan,

  227. and he read it.

  228. After Josiah cleansed Judah

  229. from his idolatry,

  230. he starts with the restoration

  231. of the temple,

  232. the house of the Lord.

  233. The house of the Lord

  234. at this time

  235. represented the presence of God

  236. among the nation.

  237. Taking care of the house of the Lord

  238. must have been a priority

  239. for every king in Israel,

  240. but only a few of them

  241. work in its restoration.

  242. We see in the passage

  243. that Josiah sends Shaphan,

  244. the scribe,

  245. to the temple

  246. to collect the money

  247. that the nation had given,

  248. to give it to those

  249. who were in charge

  250. of the restoration.

  251. It is possible

  252. that this money

  253. was collected,

  254. not at this moment,

  255. but when Josiah started reigning.

  256. And this can show us

  257. the diligence of Josiah

  258. and his government.

  259. He was not only

  260. cleansing the nation

  261. from his idolatry,

  262. but also he was working

  263. towards something important,

  264. the adoration of God.

  265. Now, I want you

  266. to think about this.

  267. As I mentioned,

  268. the books of 2 Kings

  269. and 2 Chronicles

  270. have a similar narrative

  271. of the story of Josiah,

  272. but there is a slight difference

  273. between the both of them,

  274. and it doesn't affect the story,

  275. and they don't contradict each other.

  276. And I hope you can follow me

  277. on this.

  278. The reforms,

  279. we're going to put in the middle

  280. when the book of the law

  281. is found.

  282. So, there are reforms

  283. that Josiah made

  284. in 2 Chronicles

  285. and in 2 Kings.

  286. 2 Chronicles placed them

  287. before the discovery

  288. of the book of the law

  289. when Josiah had reign

  290. for 12 years by then.

  291. So, we have the book of the law

  292. that is found.

  293. Chronicles places

  294. these reforms

  295. before this.

  296. Well, I will do this

  297. because you can see it better.

  298. So, this is the founder

  299. of the book of the law.

  300. Chronicles places

  301. the reforms

  302. before the book is found.

  303. But 2 Kings

  304. places them

  305. after the book is found.

  306. This doesn't mean

  307. that they are

  308. contradicting each other.

  309. This means that

  310. 2 Chronicles

  311. is placing this story

  312. in a chronological order.

  313. Okay, so...

  314. But 2 Kings

  315. is not doing it.

  316. It doesn't...

  317. Again, it doesn't really matter

  318. to affect the Bible.

  319. It's not that the Bible

  320. is contradicting

  321. to itself.

  322. It's just the way

  323. that the writers

  324. wrote these books.

  325. books.

  326. Now,

  327. on 2 Kings,

  328. we see Josiah

  329. at the beginning

  330. of his reign.

  331. And the next

  332. verse that we see

  333. is Josiah

  334. at the eighth year

  335. of his reign.

  336. So, there is part

  337. of the narrative

  338. that the writer

  339. of 2 Kings

  340. didn't add

  341. until chapter 23.

  342. It's there.

  343. Whatever we find

  344. at the beginning

  345. in Chronicles,

  346. whatever we find

  347. at the beginning,

  348. before they found

  349. the book of the law,

  350. it's there

  351. in 2 Kings

  352. until chapter 23.

  353. So, it's not

  354. that it's missing.

  355. It's just...

  356. It's after it.

  357. And, again,

  358. 2 Chronicles

  359. is in a chronological order

  360. in the story.

  361. So,

  362. these reforms

  363. that Josiah

  364. was doing

  365. in the nation

  366. of Israel

  367. are before

  368. they found

  369. the law.

  370. So,

  371. what could

  372. this possible

  373. tell us

  374. in a practical way?

  375. Think about this.

  376. Our hearts

  377. need to be cleansed

  378. before we can

  379. worship the Lord.

  380. We can come

  381. to the Lord

  382. praising Him

  383. for who He is,

  384. but still having

  385. idols in our hearts.

  386. We can't

  387. obey the Lord

  388. if our hearts

  389. are not fully

  390. committed

  391. to Him

  392. and holiness.

  393. And that's what

  394. Josiah did

  395. with the nation.

  396. He set the reforms

  397. in the nation

  398. of Judah.

  399. He wiped out

  400. the idols

  401. of the nation.

  402. And after

  403. he did that,

  404. he starts

  405. the restoration

  406. of the temple

  407. and they find

  408. the book

  409. of the law.

  410. So,

  411. he was thinking

  412. about

  413. God's

  414. adoration

  415. by

  416. restoring

  417. the temple.

  418. But he had

  419. to clean Israel

  420. for their sin

  421. before he can

  422. do that.

  423. And that's,

  424. we need to think

  425. about it.

  426. We need

  427. to cleanse

  428. our hearts

  429. before we can

  430. worship Him.

  431. Josiah had

  432. cleansed the nation

  433. from his idolatry

  434. so that the nation

  435. would be fully

  436. committed to

  437. God's adoration.

  438. Now,

  439. I want to show

  440. you that having

  441. a diligent heart

  442. has an impact

  443. in the people

  444. around us.

  445. Let's read

  446. verse 8 again.

  447. And it says,

  448. Josiah's

  449. diligence

  450. had an impact

  451. on

  452. Shaphan.

  453. He obeyed.

  454. He went

  455. to do

  456. what he was

  457. commanded to do

  458. because he knew

  459. the nature

  460. of the

  461. commandment

  462. and he trusted

  463. his king,

  464. his righteous king.

  465. And we see also

  466. that Josiah's

  467. diligence

  468. had an impact

  469. in Hilkiah.

  470. He found

  471. the book

  472. of the law

  473. and he

  474. didn't hide it.

  475. He gave it

  476. to Shaphan

  477. because he knew

  478. it was going

  479. to be delivered

  480. to the king.

  481. I was reading

  482. that it's possible

  483. that several copies

  484. of the law

  485. were destroyed

  486. by the previous

  487. kings.

  488. And it is

  489. possible

  490. that this

  491. book was

  492. one of the

  493. original copies

  494. remaining in

  495. the nation

  496. that someone

  497. faithful to

  498. the Lord

  499. hid in the

  500. house of the

  501. Lord.

  502. So,

  503. his immediate

  504. reaction,

  505. the immediate

  506. reaction of

  507. Hilkiah,

  508. was to give

  509. it to

  510. Shaphan

  511. so he could

  512. give it to

  513. the king.

  514. He knew

  515. that this

  516. discovery

  517. was going

  518. to contribute

  519. to what

  520. Josiah was

  521. doing in

  522. the nation.

  523. He had a

  524. faithful heart

  525. for the

  526. Lord in

  527. the same

  528. way that

  529. his king

  530. had it.

  531. See the

  532. reaction of

  533. Shaphan

  534. when he gets

  535. the book at

  536. the end of

  537. the verse

  538. eight.

  539. What he did?

  540. He read it.

  541. He couldn't

  542. wait to see

  543. what the

  544. Lord had

  545. written in

  546. it.

  547. He did

  548. it.

  549. He read

  550. it at

  551. that

  552. moment.

  553. And this

  554. is an

  555. incredible

  556. scene.

  557. Two men

  558. influenced by

  559. the king,

  560. by his

  561. obedience to

  562. the Lord,

  563. now inquiring

  564. God's will

  565. with urgency.

  566. And

  567. people around

  568. us can be

  569. influenced by

  570. what we do.

  571. Sometimes we

  572. think that

  573. we wouldn't

  574. do that,

  575. but sometimes

  576. we think that

  577. people are

  578. not going to

  579. be influenced

  580. by what you

  581. do, but

  582. they do.

  583. This could

  584. be our

  585. co-workers,

  586. this could

  587. be our

  588. neighbors,

  589. our friends,

  590. our family.

  591. Remember that

  592. we should

  593. show Christ

  594. in our

  595. lives, so

  596. whenever

  597. someone sees

  598. our lives,

  599. they praise

  600. God.

  601. Not us,

  602. but God.

  603. Paul tells

  604. Timothy

  605. the following

  606. in 1 Timothy

  607. 4, 12,

  608. but set

  609. the believers

  610. an example

  611. in speech,

  612. in conduct,

  613. in love,

  614. in faith,

  615. in purity.

  616. Don't give

  617. up

  618. obeying the

  619. Lord,

  620. and don't

  621. be ashamed

  622. to show

  623. people that

  624. you are a

  625. Christian,

  626. that you

  627. belong to

  628. God.

  629. We don't

  630. know the

  631. work that

  632. God can

  633. do in

  634. other people

  635. through our

  636. example.

  637. people.

  638. We're

  639. looking at

  640. four

  641. characteristics

  642. of a

  643. heart that

  644. pleases the

  645. Lord.

  646. We saw

  647. that a

  648. righteous

  649. heart

  650. pleases the

  651. Lord,

  652. a diligent

  653. heart

  654. pleases the

  655. Lord,

  656. and now

  657. we'll see

  658. how a

  659. fearful

  660. heart

  661. pleases the

  662. Lord.

  663. chapter.

  664. Let's

  665. read verses

  666. 9-11.

  667. And

  668. Shaphan,

  669. the secretary,

  670. came to

  671. the king,

  672. and reported

  673. to the king,

  674. Your servants

  675. have emptied

  676. out the

  677. money that

  678. was found

  679. in the

  680. house,

  681. and have

  682. delivered it

  683. into the

  684. hand of

  685. the workmen

  686. who have

  687. the oversight

  688. of the

  689. house of

  690. the Lord.

  691. Then Shaphan,

  692. the secretary,

  693. told the

  694. king,

  695. Hilkiah,

  696. the priest,

  697. has given

  698. me a

  699. book,

  700. and Shaphan

  701. read it

  702. before the

  703. king.

  704. When the

  705. king heard

  706. the words

  707. of the

  708. book of

  709. the law,

  710. he tore

  711. his clothes.

  712. We don't

  713. really know

  714. what was

  715. written in

  716. the book.

  717. Some say

  718. that it

  719. was only

  720. the Torah,

  721. which is

  722. the first

  723. five books

  724. in the

  725. Bible,

  726. and some

  727. say that

  728. it could

  729. have been

  730. the

  731. renonomy,

  732. but whatever

  733. was in

  734. the book

  735. created an

  736. urgency

  737. in Shaphan

  738. to read

  739. it to

  740. the king

  741. and created

  742. great sorrow

  743. in Josiah.

  744. The

  745. action of

  746. tearing the

  747. clothes was

  748. an expression

  749. of deep

  750. sorrow.

  751. Sometimes

  752. people did

  753. it when

  754. a relative

  755. died,

  756. like Jacob,

  757. when he

  758. did it when

  759. they told

  760. him that

  761. Joseph,

  762. his son,

  763. had died.

  764. Also,

  765. it was a

  766. reaction that

  767. showed

  768. indignation

  769. for something

  770. and sorrow

  771. for something

  772. bad that

  773. happened.

  774. Think about

  775. Josiah

  776. with this

  777. reaction.

  778. Josiah

  779. didn't know

  780. anything about

  781. the book,

  782. not even

  783. about the

  784. content of

  785. the book

  786. at this

  787. point,

  788. but when

  789. he heard

  790. it,

  791. he didn't

  792. justify

  793. himself

  794. about not

  795. knowing what

  796. was in

  797. the book.

  798. He

  799. showed

  800. deep

  801. sorrow

  802. for the

  803. judgment

  804. that

  805. was

  806. over

  807. him

  808. and

  809. the

  810. nation.

  811. The

  812. law

  813. was

  814. broken

  815. and

  816. forgotten.

  817. They

  818. were

  819. destined

  820. to

  821. receive

  822. God's

  823. wrath.

  824. But also,

  825. Josiah

  826. didn't

  827. show a

  828. superficial

  829. repentance.

  830. Josiah

  831. was deeply

  832. moved

  833. by what

  834. their

  835. disobedience

  836. to God

  837. entailed.

  838. God

  839. gave

  840. them

  841. the

  842. commandment

  843. to

  844. keep

  845. his

  846. love

  847. and

  848. obey

  849. it.

  850. At this

  851. point,

  852. they had

  853. forgotten

  854. it and

  855. followed

  856. all their

  857. gods.

  858. They

  859. didn't

  860. take care

  861. of the

  862. commandment

  863. to teach

  864. their

  865. kids

  866. in

  867. God's

  868. word

  869. and

  870. this

  871. was

  872. the

  873. result

  874. of

  875. this.

  876. Let's

  877. look at

  878. God's

  879. command

  880. in

  881. Deuteronomy

  882. 6

  883. chapter

  884. 6

  885. 4

  886. through

  887. 9

  888. and

  889. let's

  890. go

  891. to

  892. look

  893. in

  894. our

  895. Bibles

  896. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 6:4–9

  897. chapter

  898. 6

  899. verses

  900. 4

  901. through

  902. 9

  903. and

  904. it

  905. says

  906. hear

  907. O

  908. Israel

  909. the

  910. Lord

  911. our

  912. God

  913. the

  914. Lord

  915. is

  916. one

  917. you

  918. should

  919. love

  920. Lord

  921. your

  922. God

  923. with

  924. all

  925. your

  926. heart

  927. and

  928. with

  929. all

  930. your

  931. soul

  932. and

  933. with

  934. all

  935. your

  936. might

  937. and

  938. these

  939. words

  940. that I

  941. command

  942. you

  943. today

  944. shall

  945. be

  946. on

  947. your

  948. heart

  949. you

  950. shall

  951. teach

  952. them

  953. diligently

  954. to

  955. your

  956. children

  957. and

  958. shall

  959. talk

  960. to

  961. them

  962. when

  963. you

  964. sit

  965. in

  966. your

  967. house

  968. and

  969. when

  970. you

  971. walk

  972. by

  973. the

  974. way

  975. and

  976. when

  977. you

  978. lie

  979. down

  980. and

  981. when

  982. you

  983. rise

  984. you

  985. shall

  986. blind

  987. them

  988. as

  989. a sign

  990. on

  991. your

  992. hand

  993. and

  994. they

  995. shall

  996. be

  997. as

  998. frontlets

  999. between

  1000. your

  1001. eyes

  1002. you

  1003. shall

  1004. write

  1005. them

  1006. on

  1007. the

  1008. door

  1009. spots

  1010. of

  1011. your

  1012. house

  1013. and

  1014. on

  1015. your

  1016. gates

  1017. this

  1018. is

  1019. probably

  1020. something

  1021. of

  1022. what

  1023. Josiah

  1024. heard

  1025. when

  1026. the

  1027. book

  1028. was

  1029. read

  1030. by

  1031. Shaphan

  1032. they

  1033. had

  1034. disobeyed

  1035. the

  1036. Lord

  1037. they

  1038. didn't

  1039. pass

  1040. through

  1041. every

  1042. generation

  1043. they

  1044. just

  1045. decided

  1046. not

  1047. to

  1048. do

  1049. it

  1050. at

  1051. one

  1052. point

  1053. they

  1054. didn't

  1055. know

  1056. anything

  1057. about

  1058. this

  1059. this

  1060. is

  1061. terrible

  1062. this

  1063. is

  1064. so

  1065. sad

  1066. no

  1067. and

  1068. sometimes

  1069. we

  1070. don't

  1071. realize

  1072. that

  1073. we

  1074. behave

  1075. like

  1076. this

  1077. we

  1078. forget

  1079. to

  1080. read

  1081. the

  1082. Bible

  1083. we

  1084. skip

  1085. our

  1086. devotional

  1087. time

  1088. with

  1089. our

  1090. family

  1091. just

  1092. because

  1093. sometimes

  1094. we

  1095. are

  1096. tired

  1097. just

  1098. because

  1099. sometimes

  1100. we

  1101. just

  1102. forget

  1103. it

  1104. this

  1105. might

  1106. seem

  1107. like

  1108. it

  1109. won't

  1110. create

  1111. any

  1112. impact

  1113. in

  1114. our

  1115. lives

  1116. but

  1117. it

  1118. will

  1119. if

  1120. we

  1121. don't

  1122. study

  1123. God's

  1124. word

  1125. and

  1126. we

  1127. don't

  1128. teach

  1129. our

  1130. families

  1131. or

  1132. kids

  1133. there

  1134. is

  1135. a

  1136. huge

  1137. risk

  1138. of

  1139. disobedience

  1140. a

  1141. huge

  1142. huge

  1143. risk

  1144. to

  1145. break

  1146. God's

  1147. commandments

  1148. now

  1149. what

  1150. makes

  1151. Josiah

  1152. righteous

  1153. was

  1154. not

  1155. this

  1156. superficial

  1157. act

  1158. of

  1159. tearing

  1160. his

  1161. clothes

  1162. we

  1163. know

  1164. that

  1165. it

  1166. wasn't

  1167. it

  1168. was

  1169. the

  1170. attitude

  1171. of

  1172. his

  1173. heart

  1174. he

  1175. feared

  1176. the

  1177. Lord

  1178. he

  1179. feared

  1180. his

  1181. command

  1182. this

  1183. sorrow

  1184. happened

  1185. inside

  1186. of

  1187. Josiah

  1188. think

  1189. about

  1190. what

  1191. David

  1192. recognized

  1193. about

  1194. God

  1195. in

  1196. one

  1197. of

  1198. his

  1199. psalms

  1200. and

  1201. I'm

  1202. going

  1203. to

  1204. read

  1205. it

  1206. the

  1207. sacrifices

  1208. of

  1209. God

  1210. are

  1211. a

  1212. broken

  1213. spirit

  1214. a

  1215. broken

  1216. and

  1217. country

  1218. heart

  1219. oh

  1220. God

  1221. you

  1222. will

  1223. not

  1224. despite

  1225. God

  1226. doesn't

  1227. want

  1228. a

  1229. superficial

  1230. Christianity

  1231. everyone

  1232. can behave

  1233. like a

  1234. good

  1235. Christian

  1236. in

  1237. fact

  1238. we

  1239. live

  1240. in

  1241. a

  1242. time

  1243. where

  1244. everyone

  1245. thinks

  1246. that they

  1247. are good

  1248. Christians

  1249. that they

  1250. are good

  1251. people

  1252. but the

  1253. Lord wants

  1254. more than

  1255. that

  1256. he wants

  1257. a deep

  1258. change

  1259. in our

  1260. hearts

  1261. and this

  1262. can only

  1263. happen

  1264. when we

  1265. go to

  1266. his

  1267. word

  1268. when

  1269. fear

  1270. his

  1271. when we

  1272. fear

  1273. his

  1274. word

  1275. and his

  1276. commandments

  1277. the real

  1278. change

  1279. in our

  1280. lives

  1281. begins

  1282. we

  1283. are

  1284. looking

  1285. at

  1286. four

  1287. characteristics

  1288. of

  1289. a

  1290. heart

  1291. that

  1292. places

  1293. the

  1294. Lord

  1295. we

  1296. saw

  1297. that

  1298. a

  1299. righteous

  1300. heart

  1301. places

  1302. the

  1303. Lord

  1304. a

  1305. diligent

  1306. heart

  1307. places

  1308. the

  1309. Lord

  1310. a

  1311. fearful

  1312. heart

  1313. places

  1314. the

  1315. Lord

  1316. now

  1317. let's

  1318. see

  1319. our

  1320. last

  1321. point

  1322. a

  1323. heart

  1324. that

  1325. repents

  1326. places

  1327. the

  1328. Lord

  1329. and

  1330. let's

  1331. read

  1332. verses

  1333. 12

  1334. through

  1335. 17

  1336. of

  1337. today's

  1338. chapter

  1339. 2nd

  1340. Kings

  1341. 22

  1342. verses

  1343. 12

  1344. through

  1345. 17

  1346. and

  1347. it

  1348. says

  1349. and

  1350. the

  1351. king

  1352. commanded

  1353. Hilkiah

  1354. the

  1355. priest

  1356. and

  1357. Ahicham

  1358. the

  1359. son

  1360. of

  1361. Shaphan

  1362. and

  1363. Achor

  1364. the

  1365. son

  1366. of

  1367. Micaiah

  1368. and

  1369. Shaphan

  1370. the

  1371. secretary

  1372. and

  1373. Asiah

  1374. the

  1375. king's

  1376. servant

  1377. saying

  1378. go

  1379. inquire

  1380. of

  1381. the

  1382. Lord

  1383. for

  1384. me

  1385. and

  1386. for

  1387. the

  1388. people

  1389. and

  1390. for

  1391. all

  1392. Judah

  1393. concerning

  1394. the

  1395. words

  1396. of

  1397. his

  1398. book

  1399. that

  1400. has

  1401. been

  1402. found

  1403. for

  1404. great

  1405. is

  1406. the

  1407. wrath

  1408. of

  1409. the

  1410. Lord

  1411. that

  1412. is

  1413. kindled

  1414. against

  1415. us

  1416. because

  1417. our

  1418. fathers

  1419. have

  1420. not

  1421. obeyed

  1422. the

  1423. words

  1424. of

  1425. this

  1426. book

  1427. to

  1428. do

  1429. according

  1430. to

  1431. all

  1432. that

  1433. is

  1434. written

  1435. concerning

  1436. us

  1437. so

  1438. Hilkiah

  1439. the

  1440. priest

  1441. and

  1442. Ahicham

  1443. and

  1444. Agor

  1445. and

  1446. Shaphan

  1447. and

  1448. Isaiah

  1449. went to

  1450. Huldah

  1451. the

  1452. prophetess

  1453. the wife

  1454. of

  1455. Shalom

  1456. the son

  1457. of

  1458. Tikvah

  1459. son

  1460. of

  1461. Harhas

  1462. keeper

  1463. of the

  1464. wardrobe

  1465. now

  1466. she

  1467. lived

  1468. in

  1469. Jerusalem

  1470. in

  1471. the

  1472. second

  1473. quarter

  1474. and

  1475. they

  1476. talked

  1477. to

  1478. her

  1479. and

  1480. she

  1481. said

  1482. to

  1483. them

  1484. thus

  1485. says

  1486. the

  1487. Lord

  1488. the

  1489. God

  1490. of

  1491. Israel

  1492. tell

  1493. the

  1494. man

  1495. who

  1496. sent

  1497. you

  1498. to

  1499. me

  1500. thus

  1501. says

  1502. the

  1503. Lord

  1504. behold

  1505. I

  1506. will

  1507. bring

  1508. disaster

  1509. upon

  1510. this

  1511. place

  1512. and

  1513. upon

  1514. its

  1515. inhabitants

  1516. all

  1517. the

  1518. words

  1519. of

  1520. the

  1521. book

  1522. that

  1523. the

  1524. king

  1525. of

  1526. Judah

  1527. has

  1528. read

  1529. because

  1530. they

  1531. have

  1532. forsaken

  1533. me

  1534. and

  1535. have

  1536. made

  1537. offerings

  1538. to

  1539. other

  1540. gods

  1541. that

  1542. they

  1543. might

  1544. provoke

  1545. me

  1546. to

  1547. anger

  1548. with

  1549. all

  1550. the

  1551. work

  1552. of

  1553. their

  1554. hands

  1555. therefore

  1556. my

  1557. wrath

  1558. will

  1559. be

  1560. kindled

  1561. against

  1562. this

  1563. place

  1564. and

  1565. it

  1566. will

  1567. not

  1568. be

  1569. quenched

  1570. after

  1571. Josiah

  1572. hears

  1573. the

  1574. law

  1575. his

  1576. reaction

  1577. was

  1578. also

  1579. to

  1580. look

  1581. for

  1582. an

  1583. answer

  1584. from

  1585. God

  1586. he

  1587. knew

  1588. that

  1589. he

  1590. was

  1591. going

  1592. to

  1593. obtain

  1594. an

  1595. answer

  1596. by

  1597. seeking

  1598. the

  1599. Lord

  1600. and

  1601. he

  1602. sent

  1603. this

  1604. man

  1605. to

  1606. look

  1607. for

  1608. answers

  1609. as

  1610. I

  1611. mentioned

  1612. at

  1613. the

  1614. beginning

  1615. there

  1616. were

  1617. important

  1618. prophets

  1619. during

  1620. Josiah's

  1621. reign

  1622. but

  1623. they

  1624. didn't

  1625. go

  1626. to

  1627. them

  1628. it

  1629. is

  1630. possible

  1631. that

  1632. they

  1633. were

  1634. not

  1635. in

  1636. the

  1637. region

  1638. or

  1639. they

  1640. were

  1641. just

  1642. not

  1643. available

  1644. but

  1645. they

  1646. waited

  1647. until

  1648. they

  1649. were

  1650. available

  1651. and

  1652. went

  1653. to

  1654. hold

  1655. that

  1656. this

  1657. is

  1658. the

  1659. only

  1660. time

  1661. this

  1662. lady

  1663. is

  1664. mentioned

  1665. in

  1666. the

  1667. Bible

  1668. besides

  1669. second

  1670. chronicles

  1671. and

  1672. it

  1673. is

  1674. possible

  1675. that

  1676. she

  1677. was

  1678. known

  1679. in

  1680. the

  1681. kingdom

  1682. because

  1683. of

  1684. her

  1685. husband

  1686. position

  1687. in

  1688. the

  1689. kingdom

  1690. and

  1691. they

  1692. went

  1693. to

  1694. her

  1695. to

  1696. obtain

  1697. their

  1698. answer

  1699. and

  1700. we

  1701. are

  1702. going

  1703. to

  1704. see

  1705. two

  1706. parts

  1707. of

  1708. God's

  1709. answer

  1710. the

  1711. first

  1712. one

  1713. is

  1714. the

  1715. judgment

  1716. for

  1717. the

  1718. nation

  1719. and

  1720. the

  1721. second

  1722. one

  1723. is

  1724. the

  1725. mercy

  1726. for

  1727. Josiah

  1728. let's

  1729. see

  1730. first

  1731. the

  1732. judgment

  1733. to

  1734. the

  1735. nation

  1736. and

  1737. the

  1738. verses

  1739. that

  1740. we

  1741. read

  1742. and

  1743. as

  1744. we

  1745. see

  1746. in

  1747. this

  1748. passage

  1749. God

  1750. was

  1751. not

  1752. going

  1753. to

  1754. change

  1755. his

  1756. mind

  1757. regarding

  1758. his

  1759. judgment

  1760. at

  1761. this

  1762. point

  1763. there

  1764. was

  1765. nothing

  1766. Judah

  1767. could

  1768. have

  1769. been

  1770. made

  1771. to

  1772. avoid

  1773. it

  1774. they

  1775. provoke

  1776. his

  1777. anger

  1778. by

  1779. praising

  1780. other

  1781. gods

  1782. before

  1783. they

  1784. only

  1785. got

  1786. last

  1787. year

  1788. I

  1789. got

  1790. my

  1791. driver's

  1792. license

  1793. in

  1794. Mexico

  1795. we

  1796. don't

  1797. the

  1798. system

  1799. works

  1800. differently

  1801. we

  1802. don't

  1803. do

  1804. a

  1805. driver

  1806. test

  1807. we

  1808. don't

  1809. they

  1810. don't

  1811. ask

  1812. you

  1813. any

  1814. questions

  1815. you

  1816. just

  1817. need

  1818. to

  1819. be

  1820. 18

  1821. and

  1822. have

  1823. your

  1824. ID

  1825. with

  1826. you

  1827. and

  1828. you

  1829. can

  1830. get

  1831. your

  1832. driver's

  1833. license

  1834. and

  1835. I

  1836. had

  1837. to

  1838. story

  1839. so

  1840. hard

  1841. for

  1842. this

  1843. test

  1844. so

  1845. hard

  1846. and

  1847. when

  1848. I

  1849. was

  1850. at

  1851. the

  1852. DMV

  1853. I

  1854. was

  1855. so

  1856. happy

  1857. because

  1858. I

  1859. passed

  1860. the

  1861. test

  1862. and

  1863. I

  1864. remember

  1865. standing

  1866. happy

  1867. in

  1868. front

  1869. of

  1870. the

  1871. desk

  1872. waiting

  1873. for

  1874. the

  1875. lady

  1876. to

  1877. give

  1878. me

  1879. my

  1880. provisional

  1881. license

  1882. and

  1883. I

  1884. was

  1885. ready

  1886. to

  1887. be

  1888. done

  1889. there

  1890. until

  1891. she

  1892. told

  1893. me

  1894. okay

  1895. let's

  1896. go

  1897. to

  1898. your

  1899. car

  1900. man

  1901. I

  1902. was

  1903. sweating

  1904. I

  1905. was

  1906. so

  1907. nervous

  1908. I

  1909. couldn't

  1910. even

  1911. understand

  1912. her

  1913. her

  1914. English

  1915. was

  1916. so

  1917. hard

  1918. to

  1919. understand

  1920. and

  1921. I

  1922. was

  1923. there

  1924. the

  1925. first

  1926. five

  1927. minutes

  1928. I

  1929. did

  1930. everything

  1931. right

  1932. I

  1933. drove

  1934. at

  1935. 20

  1936. miles

  1937. per

  1938. hour

  1939. I

  1940. turned

  1941. on

  1942. my

  1943. blinkers

  1944. to

  1945. go

  1946. to

  1947. the

  1948. right

  1949. I

  1950. even

  1951. remember

  1952. how

  1953. to

  1954. do

  1955. the

  1956. three

  1957. points

  1958. turn

  1959. around

  1960. I

  1961. was

  1962. so

  1963. proud

  1964. of

  1965. myself

  1966. when

  1967. I

  1968. did

  1969. it

  1970. I

  1971. fully

  1972. stopped

  1973. at

  1974. every

  1975. single

  1976. stop

  1977. sign

  1978. and

  1979. finally

  1980. when

  1981. we

  1982. were

  1983. on

  1984. the

  1985. way

  1986. back

  1987. just

  1988. one

  1989. more

  1990. minute

  1991. with

  1992. that

  1993. lady

  1994. in

  1995. the

  1996. car

  1997. with

  1998. me

  1999. and

  2000. it

  2001. was

  2002. going

  2003. to

  2004. be

  2005. done

  2006. but

  2007. there

  2008. is

  2009. always

  2010. a

  2011. but

  2012. at

  2013. the

  2014. light

  2015. when

  2016. it

  2017. turned

  2018. I

  2019. was

  2020. at

  2021. the

  2022. light

  2023. and

  2024. when

  2025. it

  2026. turned

  2027. green

  2028. I

  2029. forgot

  2030. that

  2031. to

  2032. turn

  2033. to

  2034. the

  2035. left

  2036. in

  2037. a

  2038. two

  2039. lane

  2040. road

  2041. the

  2042. cars

  2043. in

  2044. the

  2045. left

  2046. have

  2047. the

  2048. right

  2049. of

  2050. way

  2051. so

  2052. I

  2053. started

  2054. going

  2055. not

  2056. fast

  2057. it

  2058. was

  2059. slow

  2060. and

  2061. the

  2062. next

  2063. thing

  2064. that

  2065. I

  2066. remember

  2067. is

  2068. this

  2069. lady

  2070. screaming

  2071. so hard

  2072. that I

  2073. didn't

  2074. stop

  2075. because I

  2076. thought I

  2077. did something

  2078. wrong

  2079. I

  2080. stopped

  2081. because I

  2082. thought

  2083. something

  2084. was wrong

  2085. with her

  2086. and

  2087. then

  2088. I

  2089. realized

  2090. that I

  2091. did

  2092. something

  2093. wrong

  2094. and

  2095. we

  2096. got

  2097. to

  2098. the

  2099. building

  2100. I

  2101. knew

  2102. she

  2103. wasn't

  2104. happy

  2105. I

  2106. remember

  2107. feeling

  2108. so

  2109. guilty

  2110. and

  2111. disappointed

  2112. of

  2113. myself

  2114. and

  2115. I

  2116. was

  2117. hoping

  2118. she

  2119. was

  2120. going

  2121. to

  2122. forget

  2123. what

  2124. I

  2125. did

  2126. of

  2127. course

  2128. she

  2129. didn't

  2130. forget

  2131. it

  2132. she

  2133. told

  2134. me

  2135. you

  2136. have

  2137. good

  2138. driving

  2139. skills

  2140. but

  2141. only

  2142. for

  2143. that

  2144. mistake

  2145. I

  2146. can't

  2147. give

  2148. you

  2149. your

  2150. license

  2151. so

  2152. come

  2153. back

  2154. next

  2155. week

  2156. I

  2157. was

  2158. so

  2159. embarrassed

  2160. I

  2161. knew

  2162. I

  2163. broke

  2164. a

  2165. law

  2166. in

  2167. front

  2168. of

  2169. someone

  2170. that

  2171. had

  2172. the

  2173. authority

  2174. to

  2175. approve

  2176. of

  2177. denying

  2178. my

  2179. license

  2180. and

  2181. I

  2182. think

  2183. I

  2184. said

  2185. I'm

  2186. sorry

  2187. to

  2188. her

  2189. like

  2190. three

  2191. times

  2192. and

  2193. I

  2194. even

  2195. told

  2196. her

  2197. that

  2198. it

  2199. was

  2200. because

  2201. I

  2202. was

  2203. so

  2204. nervous

  2205. hoping

  2206. it

  2207. was

  2208. going

  2209. to

  2210. work

  2211. that

  2212. that

  2213. was

  2214. going

  2215. to

  2216. work

  2217. for

  2218. her

  2219. but

  2220. she

  2221. was

  2222. not

  2223. going

  2224. to

  2225. change

  2226. her

  2227. mind

  2228. she

  2229. didn't

  2230. and

  2231. it

  2232. was

  2233. because

  2234. I

  2235. broke

  2236. a

  2237. rule

  2238. the

  2239. same

  2240. happened

  2241. with

  2242. the

  2243. nation

  2244. of

  2245. Judah

  2246. they

  2247. broke

  2248. God's

  2249. commandments

  2250. there

  2251. was not

  2252. going

  2253. to be

  2254. a

  2255. second

  2256. chance

  2257. this

  2258. time

  2259. they

  2260. had

  2261. several

  2262. warnings

  2263. before

  2264. they

  2265. didn't

  2266. even

  2267. have

  2268. the

  2269. book

  2270. of

  2271. the

  2272. law

  2273. with

  2274. them

  2275. they

  2276. forgot

  2277. their

  2278. God

  2279. and

  2280. this

  2281. wasn't

  2282. just

  2283. forgetting

  2284. something

  2285. for

  2286. their

  2287. bad

  2288. memory

  2289. it

  2290. was

  2291. intentional

  2292. they

  2293. decided

  2294. to

  2295. forget

  2296. it

  2297. forget

  2298. God

  2299. they

  2300. decided

  2301. to

  2302. disobey

  2303. him

  2304. God

  2305. was

  2306. not

  2307. going

  2308. to

  2309. change

  2310. his

  2311. mind

  2312. about

  2313. their

  2314. judgment

  2315. this

  2316. time

  2317. although

  2318. there

  2319. was

  2320. a

  2321. judgment

  2322. for

  2323. the

  2324. nation

  2325. look

  2326. now

  2327. the

  2328. mercy

  2329. that

  2330. God

  2331. showed

  2332. to

  2333. Uzziah

  2334. in

  2335. verses

  2336. 18

  2337. through

  2338. 20

  2339. but

  2340. the

  2341. king

  2342. of

  2343. Judah

  2344. who

  2345. sent

  2346. you

  2347. to

  2348. inquire

  2349. of

  2350. the

  2351. Lord

  2352. thus

  2353. shall

  2354. you

  2355. say

  2356. to

  2357. him

  2358. thus

  2359. says

  2360. the

  2361. Lord

  2362. the

  2363. God

  2364. of

  2365. Israel

  2366. regarding

  2367. the

  2368. words

  2369. that

  2370. you

  2371. have

  2372. read

  2373. because

  2374. your

  2375. heart

  2376. was

  2377. penitent

  2378. and

  2379. you

  2380. humbled

  2381. yourself

  2382. before

  2383. the

  2384. Lord

  2385. when

  2386. you

  2387. heard

  2388. how

  2389. I

  2390. spoke

  2391. against

  2392. this

  2393. place

  2394. and

  2395. against

  2396. this

  2397. inhabitance

  2398. that

  2399. they

  2400. should

  2401. become

  2402. a

  2403. desolation

  2404. and

  2405. a

  2406. curse

  2407. and

  2408. you

  2409. have

  2410. torn

  2411. your

  2412. clothes

  2413. and

  2414. wept

  2415. before

  2416. me

  2417. I

  2418. also

  2419. have

  2420. heard

  2421. you

  2422. declares

  2423. the

  2424. Lord

  2425. therefore

  2426. behold

  2427. I

  2428. will

  2429. gather

  2430. you

  2431. to

  2432. your

  2433. fathers

  2434. and

  2435. you

  2436. shall

  2437. be

  2438. gathered

  2439. to

  2440. your

  2441. grave

  2442. in

  2443. peace

  2444. and

  2445. your

  2446. eyes

  2447. shall

  2448. not

  2449. see

  2450. all

  2451. the

  2452. disaster

  2453. that

  2454. I

  2455. will

  2456. bring

  2457. upon

  2458. this

  2459. place

  2460. and

  2461. they

  2462. brought

  2463. back

  2464. word

  2465. to

  2466. the

  2467. king

  2468. God's

  2469. answer

  2470. had

  2471. blessings

  2472. for

  2473. Josiah

  2474. his reign

  2475. was going

  2476. to be

  2477. peaceful

  2478. and

  2479. the

  2480. judgment

  2481. for the

  2482. nation

  2483. was not

  2484. going to

  2485. happen

  2486. while

  2487. he

  2488. was

  2489. alive

  2490. Josiah

  2491. humbled

  2492. his heart

  2493. before

  2494. the

  2495. Lord

  2496. the

  2497. King

  2498. James

  2499. version

  2500. says

  2501. that

  2502. his

  2503. heart

  2504. was

  2505. tender

  2506. which

  2507. means

  2508. that

  2509. was

  2510. easily

  2511. affected

  2512. by

  2513. a

  2514. sense

  2515. of

  2516. his

  2517. guilt

  2518. before

  2519. the

  2520. Lord

  2521. a

  2522. person

  2523. with a

  2524. tender

  2525. heart

  2526. easily

  2527. recognizes

  2528. the

  2529. sin

  2530. in his

  2531. life

  2532. and

  2533. this

  2534. causes

  2535. pain

  2536. this

  2537. type

  2538. of

  2539. heart

  2540. turns

  2541. away

  2542. from

  2543. sin

  2544. in

  2545. repentance

  2546. and

  2547. looks

  2548. for

  2549. God's

  2550. forgiveness

  2551. but

  2552. a

  2553. hard

  2554. heart

  2555. is

  2556. insensitive

  2557. to

  2558. God's

  2559. word

  2560. and

  2561. doesn't

  2562. allow

  2563. the

  2564. spirit

  2565. to

  2566. work

  2567. in

  2568. it

  2569. what

  2570. kind

  2571. of

  2572. heart

  2573. do

  2574. you

  2575. have

  2576. God

  2577. tells

  2578. Isaiah

  2579. the

  2580. following

  2581. in

  2582. Isaiah

    Isaiah 62:2

  2583. 62

  2584. verse

  2585. 2

  2586. but

  2587. this

  2588. is

  2589. the

  2590. one

  2591. to

  2592. whom

  2593. I

  2594. will

  2595. look

  2596. he

  2597. who

  2598. is

  2599. humble

  2600. and

  2601. contrite

  2602. in

  2603. spirit

  2604. and

  2605. trembles

  2606. at

  2607. my

  2608. word

  2609. God

  2610. wants

  2611. humble

  2612. hearts

  2613. that

  2614. seek

  2615. him

  2616. and

  2617. tremble

  2618. at

  2619. his

  2620. word

  2621. he

  2622. wants

  2623. us

  2624. to

  2625. grow

  2626. in

  2627. the

  2628. image

  2629. of

  2630. Christ

  2631. and

  2632. he

  2633. has

  2634. given

  2635. us

  2636. his

  2637. Holy

  2638. Spirit

  2639. because

  2640. he

  2641. knows

  2642. that

  2643. we

  2644. can

  2645. do

  2646. it

  2647. by

  2648. ourselves

  2649. he

  2650. defeated

  2651. sin

  2652. on

  2653. the

  2654. cross

  2655. Jesus

  2656. said

  2657. and

  2658. we

  2659. have

  2660. been

  2661. set

  2662. free

  2663. from

  2664. condemnation

  2665. we

  2666. don't

  2667. have

  2668. to

  2669. look

  2670. back

  2671. to

  2672. our

  2673. previous

  2674. sins

  2675. asking

  2676. for

  2677. forgiveness

  2678. again

  2679. because

  2680. his

  2681. blood

  2682. covered

  2683. them

  2684. all

  2685. through

  2686. his

  2687. sacrifice

  2688. what

  2689. else

  2690. do we

  2691. need

  2692. to

  2693. realize

  2694. that

  2695. he

  2696. has

  2697. done

  2698. everything

  2699. to

  2700. set

  2701. us

  2702. free

  2703. from

  2704. the

  2705. slavery

  2706. of

  2707. sin

  2708. and

  2709. that

  2710. the

  2711. only

  2712. thing

  2713. that

  2714. he

  2715. asks

  2716. us

  2717. is

  2718. obedience

  2719. to

  2720. his

  2721. word

  2722. Josiah

  2723. didn't

  2724. see

  2725. the

  2726. destruction

  2727. of

  2728. the

  2729. nation

  2730. because

  2731. he

  2732. obeyed

  2733. the

  2734. Lord

  2735. and

  2736. brought

  2737. blessing

  2738. to

  2739. the

  2740. nation

  2741. during

  2742. his

  2743. reign

  2744. his

  2745. obedience

  2746. should

  2747. impact

  2748. our

  2749. lives

  2750. to

  2751. do

  2752. the

  2753. same

  2754. to

  2755. be

  2756. faithful

  2757. and

  2758. to

  2759. be

  2760. righteous

  2761. today

  2762. we

  2763. learned

  2764. four

  2765. characteristics

  2766. of

  2767. a

  2768. heart

  2769. that

  2770. pleases

  2771. the

  2772. Lord

  2773. a

  2774. heart

  2775. that

  2776. is

  2777. righteous

  2778. a

  2779. heart

  2780. that

  2781. is

  2782. diligent

  2783. a

  2784. heart

  2785. that

  2786. is

  2787. fearful

  2788. and

  2789. a

  2790. heart

  2791. that

  2792. repents

  2793. may

  2794. the

  2795. Lord

  2796. guide

  2797. us

  2798. in

  2799. his

  2800. word

  2801. and

  2802. help

  2803. us

  2804. to

  2805. obey

  2806. him

  2807. let's

  2808. pray
