  1. If you have your Bibles with you, would you open them up to 1 Corinthians chapter 15?

    1 Corinthians 15 chapter mention

  2. We've been working through this chapter.

  3. Paul has been talking about resurrection.

  4. He's been talking about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

  5. He's been talking about the resurrection of those who belong to the Lord Jesus in the future,

  6. the day when they will be raised from the dead.

  7. Last Sunday, we heard about how some have been kind of challenging the idea of resurrection.

  8. Well, how is that even possible?

  9. What kind of body will we have at the resurrection?

  10. And Paul has been giving his answer to those objections.

  11. He has said very clearly that we will be given a new body at the resurrection.

  12. The body that goes into the ground will not be the same as the body that comes out of the ground.

  13. God will give each of us a body according to his good plan and design,

  14. just as he has done at the beginning for us and for every creature that he has made.

  15. We heard last Sunday about some of the big differences between the body that we have now

  16. and the body that we will have at the resurrection.

  17. The body that we have now is perishable.

  18. But the body that we will be given to us at the resurrection will be imperishable.

  19. The body that we have now is a body characterized by dishonor.

  20. That we die is evidence and consequence of having lived a dishonorable life.

  21. But the body that we will be given at the resurrection will be a glorious body.

  22. The body that we have now is a body characterized by weakness, frailty.

  23. But the body that we will receive from the Lord when he comes is a body that will be described with power.

  24. And now today, this morning, we come to verse 44.

  25. Paul says,

  26. It is sown a natural body.

  27. It is raised a spiritual body.

  28. I'm going to read from 44 down to verse 50.

  29. Paul says,

  30. It is sown a natural body.

  31. It is raised a spiritual body.

  32. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

  33. So it is written,

  34. The first man, Adam, became a living being.

  35. The last, Adam, a life-giving spirit.

  36. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural.

  37. And after that, the spiritual.

  38. The first man was of the dust of the earth.

  39. The second man is of heaven.

  40. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth.

  41. And as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.

  42. And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man,

  43. so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.

  44. I declare to you, brothers and sisters,

  45. that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God,

  46. nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

  47. The question that we're going to be focused on today

  48. is what does Paul mean when he says that it is sown a natural body,

  49. it is raised a spiritual body.

  50. What does that mean?

  51. There's been a lot of discussion throughout the centuries

  52. on these very words throughout church history.

  53. And many have, some have come anyway to the reading

  54. that natural versus spiritual

  55. means essentially physical versus non-physical.

  56. that our bodies will be, that we have now are material bodies,

  57. but the bodies that we will have at the resurrection

  58. will be immaterial.

  59. Along with that idea,

  60. many have kind of come to this line of thinking

  61. that heaven is kind of this spiritual realm

  62. where when we die,

  63. our bodies, our souls, our spirits

  64. will depart from our bodies

  65. and we'll go to the spiritual realm of heaven

  66. where we will kind of be

  67. in kind of a cloud of spirits before the Lord

  68. in a never-ending worship service

  69. for the rest of eternity.

  70. And I think part of the reason for that

  71. is owing to this idea

  72. that some have taken from this passage

  73. that natural versus spiritual

  74. is really pointing to physical versus non-physical.

  75. And I think this is partly how we come to understand it

  76. just simply because of the word spiritual.

  77. The way that that word is commonly used in our culture today,

  78. it's to refer to things that are non-tangible,

  79. things that you can't detect or observe with your senses,

  80. things that you can't detect with scientific instruments.

  81. That's what we typically mean

  82. when we use the word spiritual.

  83. But I and others don't think

  84. that that's what Paul is referring to here.

  85. And I'm going to explain why in a moment here.

  86. But there's some implications to this.

  87. There was a whole,

  88. throughout the centuries,

  89. there have been philosophies

  90. that have said things like,

  91. our bodies are evil.

  92. And the spirit or the soul inside of us

  93. is what's pure.

  94. Our bodies are the thing

  95. that are holding us back from our full potential.

  96. Our bodies, they're like a prison.

  97. And when we die,

  98. our soul, our spirit will be set free.

  99. Our bodies are evil.

  100. And they're actually the thing that causes us to sin.

  101. These are some of the ideas

  102. that have been expressed throughout the centuries

  103. and are still held in some places today

  104. about the human body.

  105. And if we're not careful,

  106. how we interpret this

  107. can lead us towards that kind of a view

  108. of who we are as people,

  109. of the human body.

  110. But we must ask the question,

  111. if Paul is setting up a contrast

  112. between the physical and the non-physical,

  113. then why do we even need a new body

  114. in the first place?

  115. If our future existence in heaven

  116. is just to be in a cloud of spirits

  117. for all eternity,

  118. worshiping before the Lord,

  119. why do we need a new body?

  120. I would like to suggest this morning

  121. that perhaps we have misread this passage.

  122. It is sown a natural body.

  123. It is raised a spiritual body.

  124. I think the first clue is that word natural.

  125. The word that Paul has chosen there

  126. is the Greek word for soul

  127. or life or person.

  128. And he actually uses this word again

  129. in the next verse.

  130. He says,

  131. So it is written,

  132. the first man, Adam,

  133. became a living being or soul.

  134. That word is the same word as natural.

  135. Paul points us back to the creation story

  136. where Adam was formed from the dust

  137. and God breathed into his nostrils

  138. the breath of life

  139. and it says he became a living soul

  140. or a person or being.

  141. And so I think that's the first clue

  142. that natural doesn't just refer to physical.

  143. Adam, Paul's referring to him

  144. becoming a person,

  145. becoming a living being,

  146. the whole person.

  147. And so that word that he uses there

  148. is not limited to just the physical.

  149. But I think the more telling clue

  150. comes earlier in Paul's letter

  151. to the Corinthians.

  152. He's already introduced this idea

  153. of natural versus spiritual.

  154. Back in chapter 2, verse 14,

  155. he says,

  156. The natural person does not accept

  157. the things that come from the Spirit of God,

  158. but considers them foolishness

  159. and cannot understand them

  160. because they are discerned

  161. only through the Spirit.

  162. The spiritual person

  163. makes judgments about all things.

  164. My Bible actually goes one step further

  165. in this translation

  166. to kind of clarify,

  167. well, what does that mean,

  168. the natural person?

  169. What is the natural person?

  170. My Bible translates it

  171. as the person without the Spirit.

  172. And so there's another clue

  173. that we get that

  174. when Paul says natural,

  175. probably what he's referring to

  176. is not the physical,

  177. but just the ordinary human level.

  178. In this case,

  179. the ordinary human being

  180. doesn't accept

  181. the things that come from the Spirit.

  182. And so when we come back

  183. to chapter 15,

  184. what is the natural body?

  185. It's the ordinary human body

  186. that we all have.

  187. It is sewn into the ground,

  188. an ordinary human body,

  189. just like we all have.

  190. And then we come to the word spiritual.

  191. What does Paul mean by that?

  192. Some have believed

  193. that it refers to the composition

  194. of the body,

  195. that the body is not made

  196. of physical, material,

  197. flesh, kind of flesh and blood

  198. kind of thing,

  199. but that it's going to be composed

  200. of spiritual stuff,

  201. for lack of a better term.

  202. But if we go back to chapter 2,

  203. we see how Paul uses

  204. that word spiritual.

  205. In verse 15, he says,

  206. the spiritual person

  207. makes judgments about all things.

  208. The spiritual person

  209. is the person who does accept

  210. the things that come

  211. from the Spirit of God.

  212. In chapter 3, verse 1,

  213. he says,

  214. I could not address you

  215. as spiritual,

  216. but as people

  217. who are still worldly.

  218. The idea here,

  219. the way that Paul uses this word

  220. is not so much to refer

  221. to spirituality in general,

  222. as in a spiritual person

  223. as a person who's religious.

  224. the way he uses it

  225. is with specific

  226. kind of orientation

  227. to the Holy Spirit.

  228. A spiritual person

  229. is a person

  230. whose thoughts

  231. and discernment

  232. is guided by the Holy Spirit,

  233. a person who accepts

  234. the teaching

  235. of the Holy Spirit.

  236. My Bible in chapter 3,

  237. the translation I have,

  238. says,

  239. I could not address you

  240. as people who live

  241. by the Spirit.

  242. That's what a spiritual person is,

  243. the way Paul describes it.

  244. And so when we bring that back

  245. into 1 Corinthians 15,

  246. I think that leads us

  247. to conclude

  248. that Paul is not talking about

  249. how our new bodies

  250. will be

  251. like metaphysically different,

  252. some kind of spiritual stuff

  253. as opposed to physical bodies,

  254. but that our bodies

  255. themselves

  256. will be

  257. the life that is in them

  258. when we are raised

  259. from the dead.

  260. The power of life

  261. in us

  262. will be

  263. coming from

  264. the Holy Spirit

  265. of God himself.

  266. He will be

  267. the life force

  268. that works

  269. and causes us

  270. to thrive

  271. and live

  272. in our new bodies.

  273. It is sown

  274. a natural body.

  275. It is raised

  276. a spiritual body.

  277. Paul goes on

  278. from there

  279. to talk about

  280. how there are two men.

  281. Verse 45,

  282. so it is written,

  283. the first man,

  284. Adam,

  285. became a living being,

  286. the last Adam,

  287. a life-giving spirit.

  288. he sets up a contrast

  289. between Adam,

  290. the first man,

  291. and Christ,

  292. which he refers to

  293. as the last Adam,

  294. but there is a big difference

  295. between these two men.

  296. The first Adam,

  297. he became

  298. a living being

  299. when God

  300. breathed into his nostrils

  301. the breath of life,

  302. but the last man,

  303. the last Adam,

  304. Christ,

  305. is not someone

  306. who became

  307. a living being

  308. but someone

  309. who gives life.

  310. He is a life-giving spirit.

  311. And I think Paul

  312. brings that in

  313. to underscore

  314. his point.

  315. When Jesus

  316. comes back

  317. at the resurrection,

  318. we will be raised

  319. from the dead

  320. by the life-giving

  321. power of Christ

  322. and his spirit

  323. at work in us.

  324. He goes on

  325. to contrast

  326. the first Adam

  327. and Christ,

  328. the last Adam

  329. in verse 47.

  330. He says,

  331. the first man

  332. was of the dust

  333. of the earth.

  334. The second man

  335. is of heaven.

  336. As was the earthly man,

  337. so are those

  338. who are of the earth.

  339. And as is

  340. the heavenly man,

  341. so also

  342. are those

  343. who are of heaven.

  344. And just as we have

  345. borne the image

  346. of the earthly man,

  347. so shall we bear

  348. the image

  349. of the heavenly man.

  350. We all

  351. bear

  352. the image

  353. of the natural man,

  354. our great ancestor,

  355. Adam.

  356. We have bodies

  357. like his

  358. because he sinned,

  359. he died,

  360. and so do we.

  361. But there's a difference

  362. between the first Adam

  363. and the last Adam.

  364. The first Adam

  365. comes from

  366. the dust

  367. of the earth,

  368. but the last Adam,

  369. Christ,

  370. he comes

  371. from heaven

  372. and from glory.

  373. Adam

  374. made a decision

  375. that affected us

  376. all in the garden.

  377. He brought sin

  378. and death

  379. into this world

  380. on behalf

  381. of all of us.

  382. But there is

  383. another Adam

  384. who has done

  385. something

  386. on behalf

  387. of all of us,

  388. the Lord Jesus,

  389. and he is

  390. representative

  391. of all

  392. who belong

  393. to him.

  394. He is the one

  395. by his

  396. life-giving power

  397. who enables us

  398. to,

  399. as it says

  400. in verse 49,

  401. have a future

  402. where we shall

  403. bear the image

  404. of the heavenly man.

  405. Just as surely

  406. as we have

  407. borne the image

  408. of the earthly man,

  409. we have a body

  410. like his,

  411. so also,

  412. says Paul,

  413. we,

  414. those of us

  415. who belong to Christ,

  416. shall bear the image

  417. of the heavenly man.

  418. In other words,

  419. we will come

  420. to have

  421. a body

  422. like his.

  423. And just to confirm

  424. that we're thinking

  425. down the right track

  426. with Paul,

  427. let's remember

  428. what he said

  429. to the Philippians.

  430. He said in

  431. Philippians 3,

    Philippians 3:20

  432. verse 20,

  433. but our citizenship

  434. is in heaven

  435. from where

  436. we eagerly

  437. await a Savior,

  438. the Lord Jesus,

  439. who by his power

  440. will transform

  441. our lowly bodies

  442. so that they

  443. will be like

  444. his glorious body.

  445. That's the hope

  446. that we have.

  447. We,

  448. this,

  449. will be made

  450. like Christ's

  451. glorious body

  452. at the resurrection.

  453. That's the difference

  454. between the natural body

  455. and the spiritual body.

  456. Verse 50,

  457. Paul says this,

  458. I declare to you,

  459. brothers and sisters,

  460. that flesh and blood

  461. cannot inherit

  462. the kingdom of God,

  463. nor does the perishable

  464. inherit

  465. the imperishable.

  466. Paul comes again

  467. to this point.

  468. There is

  469. a kingdom

  470. of God

  471. that is coming.

  472. Jesus,

  473. he's already told us,

  474. is going to bring

  475. that kingdom

  476. in its fullness

  477. to this earth

  478. and it's a forever kingdom.

  479. And this

  480. flesh and blood

  481. that we have right now

  482. is not fit

  483. to participate

  484. in that forever kingdom.

  485. This body

  486. that we have now

  487. is perishable.

  488. it's not fit

  489. for the imperishable

  490. kingdom of God.

  491. We have to be careful

  492. here too.

  493. Some have seen

  494. in these words

  495. flesh and blood.

  496. Flesh and blood

  497. cannot inherit

  498. the kingdom of God

  499. and have taken that

  500. to say,

  501. well,

  502. see,

  503. we won't have

  504. physical bodies.

  505. We'll have

  506. spiritual bodies

  507. or we'll be like

  508. the angels.

  509. We'll be spirits.

  510. But Paul

  511. has used this phrase

  512. in other places,

  513. flesh and blood,

  514. just to refer

  515. to humanity

  516. in general.

  517. It's been used

  518. in the Old Testament

  519. to refer to

  520. just the frailty

  521. of humanity.

  522. And so what I think

  523. he's saying here

  524. is simply this.

  525. The kingdom

  526. that's coming

  527. is forever.

  528. It's glorious.

  529. It's perfect.

  530. But this flesh

  531. and blood

  532. is perishable.

  533. This body

  534. that I have

  535. is subject

  536. to decay.

  537. It breaks down.

  538. It wears out.

  539. It dies.

  540. It's not fit

  541. for the kingdom

  542. that Christ

  543. will bring.

  544. And so

  545. I need

  546. a radical

  547. transformation

  548. of this.

  549. And that's

  550. exactly

  551. what Christ

  552. is going to do

  553. when he returns.

  554. for all those

  555. who belong to him.

  556. He's going to

  557. transform this.

  558. And we're going to

  559. hear more about that

  560. next week

  561. as Paul goes on

  562. to talk about

  563. the resurrection

  564. moment

  565. and what will happen

  566. in that moment.

  567. But as we

  568. draw to a

  569. close this morning

  570. I want to go to

  571. one final passage.

  572. Acts

  573. sorry

  574. Luke chapter 24

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  575. one thing

  576. that has come

  577. through clearly

  578. from this passage

  579. and from Philippians

  580. is that

  581. our bodies

  582. will be like

  583. Christ's

  584. body.

  585. Now I think

  586. we have to be

  587. careful here.

  588. I don't think

  589. we can press

  590. this too far.

  591. You know

  592. we can look

  593. at

  594. what was

  595. Jesus'

  596. body like

  597. after he was

  598. raised from

  599. the dead.

  600. But I do

  601. think we have

  602. to be careful.

  603. There are some

  604. things that

  605. Jesus did

  606. after he was

  607. raised from

  608. the dead

  609. that are

  610. amazing.

  611. Right here

  612. in verse 36

  613. it says

  614. while he was

  615. still

  616. while they were

  617. still talking

  618. about this

  619. he himself

  620. stood among

  621. them

  622. and said

  623. to them

  624. peace be

  625. with you.

  626. He just

  627. kind of

  628. appeared

  629. in the

  630. room

  631. it seems.

  632. Some

  633. have

  634. even

  635. thought

  636. based on

  637. that

  638. that oh

  639. in our

  640. resurrection

  641. bodies

  642. maybe we'll

  643. have the

  644. ability to

  645. teleport

  646. or to

  647. walk

  648. through

  649. walls.

  650. I think

  651. that that

  652. kind of

  653. thinking

  654. is fit

  655. for the

  656. realm of

  657. speculation

  658. and imagination

  659. and that we

  660. need to be

  661. careful to draw

  662. lines of

  663. connection like

  664. that.

  665. But one

  666. thing that I

  667. think we

  668. can be

  669. confident of

  670. from this

  671. passage is

  672. that the

  673. new body

  674. that we

  675. will receive

  676. will be

  677. a physical

  678. body.

  679. Let's

  680. just read

  681. this quickly

  682. and see

  683. if you

  684. see that

  685. here.

  686. Verse

  687. 36

  688. While

  689. they were

  690. still

  691. talking

  692. about

  693. this

  694. Jesus

  695. himself

  696. stood

  697. among

  698. them

  699. and said

  700. to them

  701. peace

  702. be with

  703. you.

  704. They

  705. were

  706. startled

  707. and

  708. frightened

  709. thinking

  710. they saw

  711. a ghost.

  712. He

  713. said

  714. to them

  715. why

  716. are you

  717. troubled

  718. and why

  719. do

  720. doubts

  721. rise

  722. in your

  723. minds?

  724. Look

  725. at me

  726. look

  727. at my

  728. hands

  729. and my

  730. feet

  731. it is

  732. I

  733. myself

  734. touch

  735. me

  736. and

  737. see

  738. a ghost

  739. does not

  740. have

  741. flesh

  742. and bones

  743. as you

  744. see

  745. I

  746. have.

  747. When

  748. he had

  749. said

  750. this

  751. he

  752. showed

  753. them

  754. his

  755. hands

  756. and

  757. his

  758. feet

  759. and

  760. while

  761. they

  762. still

  763. did

  764. not

  765. believe

  766. it

  767. because

  768. of

  769. joy

  770. and

  771. amazement

  772. he

  773. asked

  774. them

  775. do you

  776. have

  777. anything

  778. here

  779. to

  780. eat?

  781. they

  782. gave

  783. him

  784. a

  785. piece

  786. of

  787. broiled

  788. fish

  789. and

  790. he

  791. took

  792. it

  793. and

  794. ate

  795. it

  796. in

  797. their

  798. presence

  799. he

  800. said

  801. to

  802. them

  803. this

  804. is

  805. what

  806. I

  807. told

  808. you

  809. while

  810. I

  811. was

  812. still

  813. with

  814. you

  815. verse

  816. 46

  817. the

  818. Messiah

  819. will

  820. suffer

  821. and

  822. rise

  823. from

  824. the

  825. dead

  826. on

  827. the

  828. third

  829. day

  830. Jesus

  831. had

  832. a

  833. physical

  834. body

  835. and

  836. he

  837. seemed

  838. to

  839. take

  840. great

  841. pains

  842. to

  843. communicate

  844. that

  845. to

  846. his

  847. disciples

  848. look

  849. at

  850. my

  851. hands

  852. look

  853. at

  854. my

  855. feet

  856. touch

  857. me

  858. and

  859. see

  860. we

  861. can

  862. embrace

  863. one

  864. another

  865. you're

  866. not

  867. just

  868. going

  869. to

  870. pass

  871. right

  872. through

  873. me

  874. I'm

  875. not

  876. a

  877. ghost

  878. I'm

  879. not

  880. a

  881. spirit

  882. the

  883. word

  884. is

  885. the

  886. same

  887. word

  888. for

  889. spirit

  890. as

  891. for

  892. ghost

  893. in

  894. the

  895. original

  896. language

  897. a

  898. ghost

  899. doesn't

  900. have

  901. flesh

  902. and

  903. bones

  904. as

  905. you

  906. see

  907. I

  908. have

  909. what

  910. you

  911. see

  912. in

  913. front

  914. of

  915. you

  916. and

  917. with

  918. you

  919. this

  920. is

  921. what

  922. I

  923. told

  924. you

  925. was

  926. going

  927. to

  928. happen

  929. the

  930. Messiah

  931. will

  932. suffer

  933. and

  934. rise

  935. from

  936. the

  937. dead

  938. this

  939. is

  940. the

  941. resurrection

  942. of the

  943. dead

  944. right

  945. here

  946. I'm

  947. with

  948. you

  949. I

  950. have

  951. a

  952. physical

  953. body

  954. and

  955. if

  956. there's

  957. any

  958. last

  959. doubts

  960. do

  961. you

  962. guys

  963. have

  964. anything

  965. to

  966. eat

  967. I

  968. got

  969. teeth

  970. that

  971. can

  972. chew

  973. this

  974. body

  975. is

  976. real

  977. and

  978. I

  979. think

  980. that

  981. we

  982. should

  983. carry

  984. what

  985. Jesus

  986. says

  987. and

  988. teaches

  989. to

  990. his

  991. disciples

  992. back

  993. over

  994. into

  995. our

  996. reading

  997. of

  998. what

  999. Paul

  1000. says

  1001. in

  1002. Corinthians

  1003. it

  1004. is

  1005. sown

  1006. a

  1007. natural

  1008. body

  1009. it

  1010. is

  1011. raised

  1012. a

  1013. spiritual

  1014. body

  1015. it

  1016. doesn't

  1017. mean

  1018. that

  1019. we

  1020. won't

  1021. have

  1022. physical

  1023. bodies

  1024. we

  1025. will

  1026. heaven

  1027. is

  1028. not

  1029. just

  1030. going

  1031. to

  1032. be

  1033. those

  1034. of

  1035. us

  1036. who

  1037. belong

  1038. to

  1039. Christ

  1040. are

  1041. disembodied

  1042. spirits

  1043. floating

  1044. in a

  1045. spiritual

  1046. cloud

  1047. in a

  1048. never

  1049. ending

  1050. worship

  1051. service

  1052. God

  1053. when

  1054. he

  1055. made

  1056. us

  1057. at

  1058. the

  1059. beginning

  1060. he

  1061. gave

  1062. us

  1063. bodies

  1064. for

  1065. a

  1066. reason

  1067. they

  1068. were

  1069. part

  1070. of

  1071. his

  1072. good

  1073. and

  1074. perfect

  1075. design

  1076. and

  1077. even

  1078. though

  1079. there

  1080. are

  1081. some

  1082. who

  1083. have

  1084. pointed

  1085. to

  1086. the

  1087. bodies

  1088. and

  1089. said

  1090. they're

  1091. evil

  1092. they have

  1093. problems

  1094. God

  1095. said

  1096. when he

  1097. first

  1098. made us

  1099. that

  1100. it

  1101. was

  1102. good

  1103. even

  1104. before

  1105. sin

  1106. entered

  1107. the

  1108. world

  1109. to

  1110. have

  1111. a

  1112. body

  1113. is

  1114. part

  1115. of

  1116. what

  1117. it

  1118. means

  1119. to

  1120. be

  1121. human

  1122. Paul

  1123. talks

  1124. in

  1125. his

  1126. letter

  1127. to

  1128. the

  1129. Corinthians

  1130. his

  1131. second

  1132. letter

  1133. and

  1134. talks

  1135. about

  1136. how

  1137. to

  1138. not

  1139. have

  1140. a

  1141. body

  1142. to

  1143. be

  1144. in

  1145. that

  1146. temporary

  1147. state

  1148. where

  1149. after

  1150. we

  1151. die

  1152. and

  1153. go

  1154. to

  1155. heaven

  1156. we're

  1157. with

  1158. the

  1159. Lord

  1160. Jesus

  1161. before

  1162. the

  1163. resurrection

  1164. is like

  1165. being

  1166. naked

  1167. it's like

  1168. being

  1169. unclothed

  1170. and we

  1171. long to

  1172. get back

  1173. into

  1174. our

  1175. clothing

  1176. we were

  1177. created

  1178. to have

  1179. a body

  1180. right from

  1181. the beginning

  1182. to be a

  1183. beautiful

  1184. mixture

  1185. and unity

  1186. of

  1187. physical

  1188. flesh

  1189. and blood

  1190. and bone

  1191. but also

  1192. a spirit

  1193. and a soul

  1194. integrated

  1195. into one

  1196. and it's

  1197. amazing

  1198. how

  1199. connected

  1200. they

  1201. are

  1202. what we

  1203. think

  1204. up here

  1205. if we

  1206. get

  1207. too much

  1208. into

  1209. anxious

  1210. thoughts

  1211. affects

  1212. even

  1213. our

  1214. bodies

  1215. we have

  1216. physical

  1217. symptoms

  1218. of

  1219. anxiety

  1220. and what

  1221. we

  1222. experience

  1223. in the

  1224. world

  1225. that we

  1226. live

  1227. in

  1228. with

  1229. our

  1230. bodies

  1231. shapes

  1232. who

  1233. we

  1234. are

  1235. in

  1236. here

  1237. at

  1238. the

  1239. deepest

  1240. levels

  1241. in

  1242. our

  1243. soul

  1244. that's

  1245. the way

  1246. God

  1247. made us

  1248. as human

  1249. beings

  1250. a beautiful

  1251. unity

  1252. of

  1253. physical

  1254. and

  1255. spiritual

  1256. or soul

  1257. God

  1258. gave us

  1259. an amazing

  1260. body

  1261. he gave

  1262. us ears

  1263. with which

  1264. to hear

  1265. the beautiful

  1266. sounds

  1267. and music

  1268. he gave

  1269. us eyes

  1270. to see

  1271. the beautiful

  1272. sunsets

  1273. on the

  1274. prairies

  1275. he gave

  1276. us

  1277. these

  1278. little

  1279. hairs

  1280. on our

  1281. arms

  1282. so that

  1283. we could

  1284. feel

  1285. the breeze

  1286. he gave

  1287. us

  1288. noses

  1289. so that

  1290. we could

  1291. smell

  1292. sweet

  1293. fragrances

  1294. he gave

  1295. us

  1296. hands

  1297. so that

  1298. we could

  1299. touch

  1300. and feel

  1301. and take

  1302. in the

  1303. world

  1304. that he

  1305. created

  1306. us

  1307. to live

  1308. in

  1309. so that

  1310. we could

  1311. truly

  1312. know

  1313. things

  1314. and

  1315. people

  1316. that's

  1317. a part

  1318. of what

  1319. it means

  1320. to be

  1321. human

  1322. and the

  1323. resurrection

  1324. body

  1325. that we

  1326. will have

  1327. will be

  1328. this

  1329. perfected

  1330. it won't

  1331. be less

  1332. it will

  1333. be more

  1334. all of

  1335. those

  1336. senses

  1337. and capacities

  1338. and abilities

  1339. perfected

  1340. so that

  1341. we can

  1342. enjoy God

  1343. and enjoy

  1344. one another

  1345. and enjoy

  1346. the world

  1347. that he

  1348. is going

  1349. to create

  1350. a new

  1351. for us

  1352. forever

  1353. and all

  1354. to his

  1355. glory

  1356. I don't

  1357. want to say

  1358. too much

  1359. about this

  1360. this morning

  1361. this is a

  1362. whole nother

  1363. topic

  1364. but

  1365. if

  1366. God is

  1367. going to

  1368. give us

  1369. a new

  1370. and better

  1371. body

  1372. then

  1373. doesn't

  1374. it also

  1375. follow

  1376. that

  1377. we're

  1378. going to

  1379. need it

  1380. for

  1381. a new

  1382. earth

  1383. to walk

  1384. on

  1385. to take

  1386. in with

  1387. our

  1388. senses

  1389. a renewed

  1390. creation

  1391. Paul talks

  1392. about this

  1393. a little

  1394. bit in his

  1395. letter to

  1396. the Romans

  1397. how the

  1398. creation

  1399. waits in

  1400. eager

  1401. expectation

  1402. for the

  1403. children

  1404. of God

  1405. to be

  1406. revealed

  1407. because it

  1408. was subjected

  1409. in frustration

  1410. and it

  1411. waits for

  1412. the day

  1413. when it

  1414. will be

  1415. liberated

  1416. from its

  1417. bondage

  1418. to decay

  1419. and brought

  1420. into the

  1421. freedom

  1422. and glory

  1423. of the

  1424. children

  1425. of God

  1426. we're not

  1427. just looking

  1428. forward to

  1429. a new

  1430. body

  1431. but a

  1432. new

  1433. world

  1434. to live

  1435. in

  1436. heaven

  1437. is not

  1438. just

  1439. some

  1440. spiritual

  1441. realm

  1442. up there

  1443. that we're

  1444. hoping to

  1445. go into

  1446. and live

  1447. in

  1448. this

  1449. vapor

  1450. like

  1451. spiritual

  1452. cloud

  1453. the

  1454. message

  1455. of

  1456. Christ

  1457. the

  1458. message

  1459. of

  1460. the

  1461. apostles

  1462. is that

  1463. God

  1464. will

  1465. bring

  1466. heaven

  1467. to

  1468. earth

  1469. that's

  1470. what we

  1471. pray

  1472. may your

  1473. kingdom

  1474. come

  1475. where

  1476. on earth

  1477. as it

  1478. is in

  1479. heaven

  1480. as John

  1481. said in

  1482. revelation

  1483. and I

  1484. saw the

  1485. new

  1486. Jerusalem

  1487. coming

  1488. down

  1489. from

  1490. heaven

  1491. to

  1492. where

  1493. to

  1494. earth

  1495. to the

  1496. new

  1497. earth

  1498. earth

  1499. that

  1500. God

  1501. will

  1502. make

  1503. new

  1504. and we

  1505. have

  1506. all of

  1507. this

  1508. to look

  1509. forward

  1510. to

  1511. a new

  1512. body

  1513. and a

  1514. new

  1515. world

  1516. a new

  1517. earth

  1518. to live

  1519. in

  1520. because

  1521. our

  1522. God

  1523. and

  1524. Savior

  1525. loves

  1526. us

  1527. dearly

  1528. and wants

  1529. to give

  1530. it to

  1531. us

  1532. as a

  1533. gift

  1534. as

  1535. undeserving

  1536. as we

  1537. are

  1538. isn't

  1539. that

  1540. amazing

  1541. let's

  1542. pray

  1543. Father

  1544. in

  1545. heaven

  1546. we

  1547. thank

  1548. you

  1549. for

  1550. your

  1551. word

  1552. we

  1553. thank

  1554. you

  1555. for

  1556. the

  1557. glorious

  1558. hope

  1559. that

  1560. we

  1561. have

  1562. we

  1563. long

  1564. for

  1565. the

  1566. day

  1567. when

  1568. these

  1569. bodies

  1570. which

  1571. are

  1572. winding

  1573. down

  1574. will

  1575. be

  1576. made

  1577. new

  1578. and

  1579. oh

  1580. will

  1581. we

  1582. praise

  1583. you

  1584. on

  1585. that

  1586. day

  1587. will

  1588. we

  1589. sing

  1590. on

  1591. that

  1592. day

  1593. when

  1594. we

  1595. come

  1596. out

  1597. of

  1598. our

  1599. graves

  1600. by

  1601. your

  1602. life

  1603. giving

  1604. power

  1605. Jesus

  1606. and

  1607. by

  1608. the

  1609. power

  1610. of

  1611. your

  1612. spirit

  1613. amen

  1614. turn
