  1. Well, as we come to the word of God this morning, may the Lord give us receptive hearts and help us to hear what he has said.

  2. We're continuing on in the gospel of John chapter 10.

    John 10 chapter mention

  3. If you have your Bible, you can open it up to John chapter 10.

    John 10 chapter mention

  4. If you don't have a Bible, there are Bibles in front of you in the seats there that you can grab onto.

  5. And we're in John chapter 10.

    John 10 chapter mention

  6. We've been listening and thinking about the words of Jesus and how he is the good shepherd.

  7. And we're just now coming down to verses 17 and 18.

  8. So let's read that.

  9. I'll start in verse 14 just to give us some of the context again and then we'll follow along with what Jesus is saying here.

  10. John chapter 10 verse 14.

    John 10:14

  11. I am the good shepherd.

  12. I know my sheep and my sheep know me.

  13. Just as the Father knows me.

  14. And I know the Father.

  15. And I lay down my life for the sheep.

  16. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.

  17. I must bring them also.

  18. They too will listen to my voice.

  19. And there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

  20. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life only to take it up again.

  21. No one takes it from me.

  22. But I lay it down of my own accord.

  23. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.

  24. This command I received from my Father.

  25. So in verse 17 Jesus says,

  26. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life only to take it up again.

  27. Now this might sound a little strange to us.

  28. As we said last week, the Father and his son Jesus have a very unique relationship with each other.

  29. It's unlike anything that we know or experience.

  30. And if you haven't been with us since the beginning of this series,

  31. some of this might sound very strange to you.

  32. What does Jesus mean by calling God his Father?

  33. Well, this is the mystery of God that the Bible clearly reveals.

  34. There is one God.

  35. And this one God exists simultaneously all at once in three persons.

  36. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  37. It's beyond anything that we know or understand.

  38. There's no analogy that can perfectly illustrate this mysterious nature of God.

  39. And I can tell you that we probably would not believe this,

  40. that God was anything like this,

  41. except that that's what God has revealed to us in his word.

  42. That's what he said he is like.

  43. We could go to all kinds of scriptures.

  44. We won't do it this morning,

  45. but we see very clearly in the pages of the Bible

  46. that the Father is divine, truly God.

  47. The Son is divine.

  48. He's truly God.

  49. And the Holy Spirit is divine, truly God.

  50. And yet, not three gods, but one God.

  51. One Lord.

  52. One Yahweh.

  53. One Yahweh.

  54. And Jesus has been telling us specifically here about this special relationship that he has with God the Father.

  55. I'll read it again.

  56. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life.

  57. Now, we should know that, of course,

  58. this is not the only reason that the Father loves the Son.

  59. Even before we've come to this verse,

  60. we've heard from Jesus and even from the Father

  61. that theirs is a relationship in which love is flowing back and forth all the time.

  62. It's a relationship characterized by love.

  63. We saw this in John 3.35.

  64. The Father loves the Son

  65. and has placed everything in his hands.

  66. We saw it in John 5.20.

  67. For the Father loves the Son

  68. and shows him all he does.

  69. We saw this at Jesus' baptism in Matthew 3.17.

  70. The Father himself speaks from heaven audibly.

  71. This is my Son whom I love.

  72. With him I am well pleased.

  73. But now here in John 10.17,

  74. Jesus is drawing our attention to one particular reason why

  75. the Father loves the Son.

  76. Jesus says quite literally,

  77. on account of this,

  78. the Father loves me.

  79. That I lay down my life.

  80. And we have to really chew on this a bit.

  81. It's not that God only loves his Son

  82. because his Son does what the Father wants him to do.

  83. That's a sad reality that we see sometimes

  84. in human relationships in our world.

  85. No, it's not that.

  86. Neither is it that the Son is desperately trying to win

  87. and keep the love of his Father

  88. by doing what his Father has asked of him.

  89. That too is a sad reality that we sometimes see

  90. lived out in our world today.

  91. This is neither of those.

  92. And it kind of brings us to the question,

  93. well then,

  94. what is so love-worthy,

  95. what is so lovely

  96. about the Son laying down his life?

  97. Why does the Father love that?

  98. The Son does this.

  99. Well, let's ask the question again.

  100. Why does Jesus lay down his life?

  101. To accomplish what?

  102. We need only to go back a few verses

  103. and listen to what Jesus has been saying

  104. in verse 13.

  105. I am the good shepherd, said Jesus.

  106. The good shepherd lays down his life.

  107. Why?

  108. Why?

  109. For the sheep.

  110. The hired hand, he said,

  111. is not the shepherd

  112. and does not own the sheep.

  113. So when he sees the wolf coming,

  114. he abandons the sheep

  115. and runs away.

  116. Then the wolf attacks the flock

  117. and scatters it.

  118. The man runs away

  119. because he's a hired hand

  120. and cares nothing for the sheep.

  121. So Jesus lays down his life.

  122. Why?

  123. For his sheep.

  124. Because unlike the hired hand

  125. in this illustration,

  126. he cares deeply about them.

  127. He loves them.

  128. And that's a glorious

  129. and beautiful thing.

  130. Love.

  131. True, selfless love

  132. like Jesus has for his sheep

  133. is a lovely thing.

  134. The Father sees that

  135. and he loves that.

  136. Let's talk for a moment

  137. about the love

  138. that Jesus has for his sheep.

  139. Jesus loves his sheep

  140. not just a little bit

  141. but a lot.

  142. So much that he will put down his life

  143. and give himself up to death

  144. in order to save them

  145. from the spiritual danger

  146. that they are in.

  147. That's not just love

  148. like the kind of family

  149. or friend love

  150. that we are familiar with

  151. in our world today.

  152. That's true love.

  153. That's great love.

  154. That's deep love.

  155. That's the kind of love

  156. that's rare to see

  157. on earth today

  158. in a world where people

  159. usually put themselves first.

  160. in John chapter 15

    John 15:13

  161. verse 13

  162. Jesus says

  163. greater love has no one

  164. than this

  165. that a man lay down his life

  166. for his friends.

  167. The greatest of loves

  168. is seen

  169. in the greatest of self-sacrifices

  170. for another.

  171. Take a good look

  172. at the man in this picture.

  173. The man seated on the left.

  174. There's a reason

  175. that this soldier is sitting.

  176. It's a little bit tough

  177. to see in the picture

  178. but if you look closely

  179. you'll notice

  180. that part of his left leg

  181. is missing

  182. as well as his right arm.

  183. His name was Harry Jackson.

  184. It was March 1945.

  185. He was stationed

  186. out on the island

  187. of Iwo Jima

  188. along with 70,000

  189. other U.S. Marines.

  190. The Japanese troops

  191. attacked the island.

  192. The battle lasted 36 days.

  193. 27,000 American Marines

  194. were killed or injured.

  195. On the 19th of March

  196. seven days before

  197. this battle ended

  198. Harry Jackson's squad

  199. was on outpost duty

  200. with a rifle platoon.

  201. During the night

  202. Japanese soldiers

  203. infiltrated the perimeter

  204. and threw a grenade

  205. into the foxhole

  206. where Harry Jackson

  207. and his comrades were.

  208. Without hesitation

  209. he took off his helmet

  210. put it on top

  211. of the grenade

  212. and then jumped

  213. on top of that

  214. with his body.

  215. He saved the lives

  216. of the three men

  217. next to him.

  218. And amazingly

  219. he survived as well.

  220. He lost his left leg

  221. his right arm

  222. his left eye

  223. and he ended up

  224. with powder burns

  225. all over his body

  226. for the rest of his life.

  227. Can you imagine that?

  228. As one U.S. Marine

  229. commenting on the story

  230. said

  231. the natural instinct there

  232. is to jump away

  233. to get away from it

  234. and nobody would have

  235. faulted him

  236. for doing that.

  237. But he knew

  238. in that moment

  239. that if he smothered

  240. that grenade

  241. there was a chance

  242. that his friends

  243. might live.

  244. And so he did.

  245. Even if it would kill him.

  246. That's the greatest

  247. of loves

  248. Jesus says.

  249. To lay down your life

  250. for your friends.

  251. And that's rare

  252. to see.

  253. Paul in Romans chapter 5

    Romans 5:7

  254. verse 7 says

  255. very rarely

  256. will anyone die

  257. for a righteous person

  258. though for a good person

  259. someone might possibly

  260. dare to die.

  261. Paul's about to contrast

  262. the rarest

  263. and best

  264. of human loves

  265. with the love of God

  266. and the love of Christ.

  267. But his point is that

  268. when it comes to choosing

  269. to die for someone else

  270. like to save them

  271. it's very rare.

  272. even if the person

  273. who could be saved

  274. is known to be

  275. a good and righteous person

  276. it's very rare

  277. almost always

  278. people will just act

  279. in their own best interests

  280. to preserve themselves.

  281. And this is what is glorious

  282. and beautiful

  283. about Jesus Christ.

  284. He has

  285. the rarest

  286. and most beautiful

  287. of loves

  288. for us.

  289. unworthy

  290. sinners

  291. that we are.

  292. Here in John chapter 10

    John 10 chapter mention

  293. we're still a ways off

  294. from

  295. the cross.

  296. That day

  297. Jesus will lay down

  298. his life

  299. but already

  300. Jesus is talking

  301. about it.

  302. He's thinking

  303. about it.

  304. I'm going to lay down

  305. my life

  306. for my sheep.

  307. He's intent

  308. on doing it.

  309. In fact

  310. all the way back

  311. in chapter 6

  312. back in Capernaum

  313. he was thinking

  314. about it.

  315. He said

  316. this bread

  317. is my flesh

  318. which I will give

  319. for the life

  320. of the world.

  321. In fact

  322. all the way back

  323. in chapter 3

  324. when Jesus was talking

  325. to Nicodemus

  326. he said a similar

  327. kind of thing

  328. about how he would

  329. be lifted up

  330. so that everyone

  331. who believes

  332. might have

  333. eternal life.

  334. even before that

  335. Jesus

  336. the Son of God

  337. right from the start

  338. had it on his heart

  339. to lay down

  340. his life

  341. to rescue us.

  342. Mark 10

  343. 45

  344. the Son of Man

  345. did not come

  346. to be served

  347. but to serve

  348. and

  349. to give

  350. his life

  351. as a ransom

  352. for many.

  353. and what makes

  354. Christ's

  355. love

  356. really stand out

  357. is that

  358. he will die

  359. for sinners

  360. like you

  361. and me.

  362. We might think

  363. that we're pretty good

  364. some days

  365. probably the truth

  366. is

  367. that we all

  368. have no idea

  369. just how deplorable

  370. our sins

  371. really are

  372. to a holy

  373. and righteous

  374. God.

  375. We are

  376. quite

  377. unworthy

  378. we are

  379. quite guilty

  380. we are

  381. quite deserving

  382. of punishment

  383. that's what's

  384. right

  385. that's what's

  386. fair

  387. and yet

  388. Jesus

  389. looks at us

  390. with compassion

  391. and tender

  392. pity

  393. and he says

  394. I'm going to

  395. go down

  396. and I'm going

  397. to suffer

  398. the shame

  399. and the agony

  400. of the death

  401. that they deserve

  402. for their sins

  403. so that they

  404. can be saved

  405. and rescued

  406. from it

  407. and Jesus

  408. did

  409. he laid down

  410. his life

  411. on the cross

  412. he was crucified

  413. to atone

  414. for our sins

  415. this love

  416. of Christ

  417. for his sheep

  418. for you

  419. for me

  420. is glorious

  421. it's beautiful

  422. it's wondrous

  423. have you felt

  424. it

  425. do you know

  426. it

  427. and the father

  428. as he watches

  429. all of this

  430. unfolding on earth

  431. he loves

  432. his son

  433. all the more

  434. for doing it

  435. for going

  436. through

  437. with it

  438. it's the most

  439. lovely thing

  440. in his sight

  441. there was

  442. already

  443. great

  444. deep

  445. love

  446. for his

  447. son

  448. and now

  449. there's even

  450. greater

  451. even deeper

  452. love

  453. for Jesus

  454. his son

  455. so Jesus

  456. tells the Pharisees

  457. and anyone else

  458. listening in

  459. that he's going

  460. to lay down

  461. his life

  462. for his sheep

  463. he's going to

  464. die for them

  465. but in the same

  466. breath

  467. he says

  468. I'm also going

  469. to take up

  470. my life

  471. again

  472. very strange

  473. thing to say

  474. maybe unexpected

  475. we'll come back

  476. to that

  477. another message

  478. we'll keep

  479. tracking

  480. with Jesus

  481. as he talks

  482. about laying

  483. down his life

  484. for his sheep

  485. down into

  486. verse 18

  487. the reason

  488. my father

  489. loves me

  490. is that I lay

  491. down my life

  492. only to take

  493. it up again

  494. no one

  495. takes it

  496. from me

  497. no one

  498. takes my life

  499. from me

  500. but I lay

  501. it down

  502. of my own

  503. accord

  504. now this may

  505. sound strange

  506. but let's keep

  507. listening to Jesus

  508. no one

  509. takes my life

  510. from me

  511. he says

  512. I lay it

  513. down of my

  514. own accord

  515. it's as though

  516. he's saying

  517. let the record

  518. be clear

  519. even before

  520. the day

  521. comes

  522. when you

  523. Pharisees

  524. will see me

  525. up on that

  526. cross

  527. you did

  528. not take

  529. my life

  530. from me

  531. I laid

  532. it down

  533. the Pharisees

  534. and the

  535. religious leaders

  536. who plotted

  537. against Jesus

  538. they did

  539. not take

  540. Jesus life

  541. from him

  542. as if they

  543. could

  544. the mob

  545. who shouted

  546. crucify him

  547. until Pilate

  548. finally gave

  549. in and handed

  550. Jesus over

  551. they did

  552. not take

  553. Jesus life

  554. from him

  555. as if

  556. they could

  557. Pilate

  558. who granted

  559. the request

  560. did not

  561. take Jesus

  562. life from

  563. him

  564. as if

  565. he could

  566. and even

  567. the Roman

  568. soldiers

  569. who pounded

  570. the nails

  571. into Jesus

  572. hands and

  573. feet

  574. did not

  575. take

  576. Jesus life

  577. from him

  578. as if

  579. they could

  580. no

  581. no one

  582. takes my

  583. life

  584. from me

  585. I lay

  586. it down

  587. of my

  588. own

  589. accord

  590. the Roman

  591. soldiers

  592. Pilate

  593. the religious

  594. leaders

  595. could scheme

  596. they could

  597. do their

  598. their hardest

  599. to try to

  600. kill Jesus

  601. the son of

  602. God

  603. but if

  604. Jesus

  605. had not

  606. surrendered

  607. himself

  608. to their

  609. plots

  610. and even

  611. in those

  612. final moments

  613. if Jesus

  614. had not

  615. surrendered

  616. his body

  617. over to

  618. death

  619. they couldn't

  620. have killed

  621. him

  622. they would

  623. have failed

  624. no one

  625. takes my

  626. life from

  627. me

  628. I lay

  629. it down

  630. of my

  631. own

  632. accord

  633. they're

  634. strange

  635. words

  636. and yet

  637. magnificent

  638. unless

  639. Jesus

  640. chooses

  641. to lay

  642. down

  643. his

  644. life

  645. and die

  646. he's

  647. immortal

  648. he is

  649. invincible

  650. he cannot

  651. be beaten

  652. he cannot

  653. be outsmart

  654. he cannot

  655. be outflanked

  656. by their

  657. schemes

  658. and their

  659. plots

  660. all of

  661. which he

  662. sees

  663. right through

  664. he is

  665. the sinless

  666. son

  667. of the

  668. most

  669. high

  670. God

  671. and unless

  672. Jesus

  673. allows

  674. himself

  675. to be

  676. bound

  677. and chooses

  678. to humble

  679. himself

  680. before them

  681. and willingly

  682. surrenders

  683. his body

  684. to death

  685. he will

  686. not die

  687. we see

  688. glimpses

  689. of what

  690. Jesus

  691. could have

  692. done

  693. like in

  694. the garden

  695. when Jesus

  696. commanded

  697. Peter to

  698. put his

  699. sword

  700. away

  701. as he

  702. says in

  703. Matthew's

  704. gospel

  705. do you

  706. think I

  707. cannot

  708. call on

  709. my

  710. father

  711. and he

  712. will at

  713. once

  714. put at

  715. my

  716. disposal

  717. twelve

  718. legions

  719. of

  720. angels

  721. oh I

  722. could get

  723. out of

  724. this

  725. and yet

  726. he didn't

  727. because he

  728. was instead

  729. choosing

  730. to surrender

  731. himself

  732. into their

  733. hands

  734. no one

  735. takes my

  736. life from

  737. me

  738. I lay

  739. it down

  740. of my

  741. own

  742. accord

  743. or like

  744. on the

  745. cross

  746. when the

  747. people were

  748. mocking

  749. Jesus

  750. Matthew

    Matthew 27:40

  751. 27

  752. verse 40

  753. they were

  754. saying

  755. you who

  756. are going

  757. to destroy

  758. the temple

  759. and rebuild

  760. it in three

  761. days

  762. come down

  763. from the

  764. cross

  765. and save

  766. yourself

  767. if you

  768. are the

  769. son of

  770. God

  771. could he

  772. have come

  773. down from

  774. the cross

  775. in that

  776. moment

  777. oh yeah

  778. could he

  779. have saved

  780. himself

  781. absolutely

  782. but instead

  783. he chose

  784. to surrender

  785. his body

  786. to death

  787. to fulfill

  788. the scriptures

  789. to accomplish

  790. the mission

  791. the rescue

  792. mission

  793. planned long

  794. ago

  795. no one

  796. takes my

  797. life from

  798. me

  799. says Jesus

  800. but I lay

  801. it down

  802. of my own

  803. accord

  804. there's

  805. another

  806. angle

  807. that I

  808. want to

  809. talk about

  810. just briefly

  811. here

  812. sometimes

  813. you may

  814. run across

  815. someone

  816. who

  817. mocks

  818. God

  819. who says

  820. what kind

  821. of father

  822. would kill

  823. his own

  824. son

  825. Richard

  826. Dawkins

  827. is an

  828. example

  829. of such

  830. a person

  831. he's the

  832. most arrogant

  833. and truth

  834. suppressing

  835. man

  836. I've ever

  837. heard of

  838. his book

  839. maybe you've

  840. heard of it

  841. the God

  842. delusion

  843. I refuse

  844. to even

  845. quote how

  846. he describes

  847. God in

  848. that book

  849. but one

  850. of the

  851. things that

  852. he accuses

  853. God of

  854. being is

  855. filicidal

  856. so think

  857. homicidal

  858. homicidal

  859. the tendency

  860. to kill

  861. people

  862. filicidal

  863. having the

  864. tendency

  865. or bent

  866. towards

  867. killing

  868. your own

  869. children

  870. according

  871. to Dawkins

  872. that's God

  873. that's

  874. his

  875. nature

  876. and we

  877. should be

  878. clear

  879. did God

  880. kill

  881. Jesus

  882. on the

  883. cross

  884. many

  885. passages

  886. of

  887. scripture

  888. say

  889. yes

  890. God

  891. poured

  892. out

  893. his

  894. wrath

  895. on

  896. Jesus

  897. he

  898. punished

  899. Jesus

  900. but not

  901. because

  902. he's

  903. some

  904. evil

  905. sicko

  906. of a

  907. father

  908. who

  909. gets

  910. kicks

  911. out of

  912. doing

  913. things like

  914. that

  915. to his

  916. own

  917. child

  918. no

  919. God

  920. punished

  921. Jesus

  922. for our

  923. sins

  924. and he

  925. did it

  926. because

  927. Jesus

  928. willingly

  929. agreed

  930. to be

  931. our

  932. substitute

  933. to take

  934. the punishment

  935. that we

  936. deserve

  937. to be that

  938. sacrificial

  939. lamb

  940. Richard Dawkins

  941. view of God

  942. is twisted

  943. and false

  944. God

  945. is not

  946. some

  947. vindictive

  948. or violent

  949. bully

  950. who just

  951. gets kicks

  952. out of

  953. making

  954. people

  955. suffer

  956. that's

  957. what the

  958. devil

  959. wants us

  960. to believe

  961. about God

  962. it's the same

  963. sort of lie

  964. that Satan

  965. used back

  966. in the

  967. garden of

  968. Eden

  969. is God

  970. really good

  971. does he

  972. really have

  973. your best

  974. interests

  975. in mind

  976. no

  977. God

  978. is good

  979. he is

  980. just

  981. he is

  982. compassionate

  983. he is

  984. gracious

  985. and he

  986. did not

  987. force

  988. his son

  989. Jesus

  990. onto that

  991. cross

  992. hear the

  993. words of

  994. Jesus

  995. again

  996. and make

  997. no mistake

  998. no one

  999. takes

  1000. my life

  1001. from me

  1002. I lay

  1003. it down

  1004. of my

  1005. own

  1006. accord

  1007. of my

  1008. own

  1009. accord

  1010. we've

  1011. heard that

  1012. before

  1013. this is

  1014. something

  1015. that Jesus

  1016. said

  1017. back in

  1018. John

  1019. chapter

  1020. five

  1021. I don't

  1022. know if

  1023. you remember

  1024. this one

  1025. Jesus was

  1026. talking to the

  1027. Pharisees

  1028. there too

  1029. he said

  1030. very truly

  1031. I tell

  1032. you

  1033. the son

  1034. can do

  1035. nothing

  1036. by himself

  1037. that's the

  1038. same language

  1039. in the

  1040. original

  1041. language

  1042. of his

  1043. own

  1044. accord

  1045. he can

  1046. only do

  1047. what he

  1048. sees

  1049. his

  1050. father

  1051. doing

  1052. because

  1053. whatever

  1054. the father

  1055. does

  1056. the son

  1057. also

  1058. does

  1059. for the

  1060. father

  1061. loves

  1062. the son

  1063. and shows

  1064. him all

  1065. he does

  1066. so we

  1067. read there

  1068. that the

  1069. son can

  1070. do nothing

  1071. of himself

  1072. nothing

  1073. on his

  1074. own

  1075. nothing

  1076. independent

  1077. from the

  1078. father

  1079. and yet

  1080. here

  1081. in John

  1082. 10 17

  1083. and 18

  1084. he says

  1085. I lay

  1086. down my

  1087. life

  1088. of my

  1089. own

  1090. accord

  1091. what do we

  1092. need to

  1093. make of

  1094. this

  1095. but we

  1096. must not

  1097. make the

  1098. mistake

  1099. of trying

  1100. to pit

  1101. Jesus

  1102. against

  1103. the

  1104. father

  1105. just as

  1106. Jesus

  1107. said

  1108. he and

  1109. his

  1110. father

  1111. act

  1112. and work

  1113. together

  1114. they can't

  1115. be divided

  1116. they can't

  1117. be separated

  1118. on this

  1119. yes

  1120. Jesus

  1121. lays his

  1122. life down

  1123. of his

  1124. own

  1125. accord

  1126. but it's

  1127. also the

  1128. father's

  1129. plan

  1130. and the

  1131. father's

  1132. will

  1133. too

  1134. yes

  1135. the father

  1136. has sent

  1137. the son

  1138. and given

  1139. the son

  1140. and delivered

  1141. him up

  1142. for us

  1143. all

  1144. but it's

  1145. also the

  1146. son's

  1147. will

  1148. and desire

  1149. to go

  1150. and to

  1151. be sent

  1152. and to

  1153. be given

  1154. and to

  1155. be delivered

  1156. up

  1157. for us

  1158. all

  1159. you can't

  1160. separate

  1161. father and

  1162. son

  1163. they always

  1164. work

  1165. together

  1166. says

  1167. Jesus

  1168. they act

  1169. together

  1170. they accomplish

  1171. together

  1172. at the same

  1173. time as

  1174. Jesus

  1175. willingly

  1176. lays down

  1177. his life

  1178. so too

  1179. his father

  1180. delivers him

  1181. up

  1182. to death

  1183. they do

  1184. have a

  1185. different

  1186. role

  1187. the father

  1188. commands

  1189. and the

  1190. son obeys

  1191. those commands

  1192. but it's

  1193. not a

  1194. begrudging

  1195. or dutiful

  1196. obedience

  1197. that Jesus

  1198. has

  1199. of his

  1200. father

  1201. Jesus

  1202. loves his

  1203. father

  1204. and it's

  1205. his own

  1206. heart's

  1207. will

  1208. not only

  1209. to obey

  1210. his father

  1211. but to do

  1212. all the same

  1213. things

  1214. that the

  1215. father is

  1216. commanding

  1217. him to

  1218. do

  1219. he would

  1220. do

  1221. those

  1222. anyway

  1223. because

  1224. they are

  1225. good

  1226. they are

  1227. beautiful

  1228. they are

  1229. right

  1230. you cannot

  1231. separate

  1232. father and

  1233. son

  1234. in their

  1235. willing

  1236. or in

  1237. their

  1238. working

  1239. so what

  1240. do we

  1241. take

  1242. from all

  1243. this

  1244. well I

  1245. want to

  1246. point us

  1247. back to

  1248. the heart

  1249. of Christ

  1250. we know

  1251. most of

  1252. us that

  1253. God the

  1254. father

  1255. loves us

  1256. we know

  1257. that he

  1258. sent and

  1259. gave Jesus

  1260. to save

  1261. us

  1262. John 3

  1263. 16

  1264. for God

  1265. so loved

  1266. the world

  1267. that he

  1268. gave his

  1269. one and

  1270. only son

  1271. but do

  1272. you know

  1273. that Jesus

  1274. the God

  1275. man

  1276. the one

  1277. with flesh

  1278. and blood

  1279. like we

  1280. have

  1281. do you

  1282. know that

  1283. Jesus

  1284. himself

  1285. loves

  1286. you

  1287. in his

  1288. heart

  1289. of hearts

  1290. so much

  1291. that he

  1292. laid down

  1293. his life

  1294. of his

  1295. own

  1296. accord

  1297. because

  1298. he

  1299. wanted

  1300. to do

  1301. it

  1302. for you

  1303. sometimes

  1304. we might

  1305. get that

  1306. mixed up

  1307. in our

  1308. minds

  1309. we might

  1310. think

  1311. well did

  1312. Jesus

  1313. just go

  1314. to the

  1315. cross

  1316. and die

  1317. for me

  1318. because

  1319. he

  1320. had

  1321. to

  1322. because

  1323. it's

  1324. what

  1325. the

  1326. father

  1327. wanted

  1328. hear

  1329. these

  1330. words

  1331. I

  1332. did

  1333. it

  1334. I

  1335. do

  1336. it

  1337. of my

  1338. own

  1339. accord

  1340. because

  1341. I

  1342. want

  1343. to do

  1344. that

  1345. for

  1346. you

  1347. I

  1348. care

  1349. about

  1350. you

  1351. I

  1352. love

  1353. you

  1354. I

  1355. want

  1356. to

  1357. see

  1358. you

  1359. have

  1360. life

  1361. and

  1362. be

  1363. forgiven

  1364. and

  1365. be

  1366. saved

  1367. he

  1368. wants

  1369. you

  1370. to

  1371. have

  1372. life

  1373. just

  1374. like

  1375. God

  1376. the

  1377. father

  1378. wants

  1379. you

  1380. to

  1381. have

  1382. life

  1383. or

  1384. maybe

  1385. it's

  1386. the

  1387. other

  1388. way

  1389. around

  1390. in

  1391. your

  1392. mind

  1393. maybe

  1394. you

  1395. tend

  1396. to

  1397. think

  1398. of

  1399. it

  1400. a

  1401. little

  1402. differently

  1403. well

  1404. I

  1405. know

  1406. that

  1407. Jesus

  1408. loves

  1409. me

  1410. I

  1411. mean

  1412. look

  1413. at what

  1414. he

  1415. did

  1416. for

  1417. me

  1418. at

  1419. the

  1420. cross

  1421. but

  1422. the

  1423. father

  1424. does

  1425. he

  1426. really

  1427. love

  1428. me

  1429. or

  1430. is

  1431. he

  1432. just

  1433. angry

  1434. with

  1435. me

  1436. and

  1437. Jesus

  1438. is

  1439. there

  1440. like

  1441. my

  1442. older

  1443. brother

  1444. standing

  1445. in the

  1446. gap

  1447. and

  1448. making

  1449. a

  1450. case

  1451. for

  1452. me

  1453. let

  1454. me

  1455. point

  1456. you

  1457. back

  1458. to

  1459. verse

  1460. 17

  1461. again

  1462. the

  1463. reason

  1464. my

  1465. father

  1466. loves

  1467. me

  1468. is

  1469. that

  1470. I

  1471. lay

  1472. down
